Hello and :welcome: to my (well our) Trip Report for September 2011 :yay: It's taken me oh over a month to get started, but better late than never right?
2011 has been a massive year for me and my new hubby. We have or had been planning our wedding since last year and the big day finally came on Thursday September 8th :bride: :groom: I'll be incorporating the wedding into the TR first (hope you don't mind) and then on to our amazing Disneymoon.
I'm thinking introductions are i order, first up is me :teeth:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/70c6bf9b.jpg
My name is Stephanie (Stef or Stefy) and I am a Disney Addict. I love all things Disney and can't get enough of the most Magical Place on Earth! This is my fourth trip back to the world and, hopefully, won't be my last.
Favourite Character: Stitch
Favourite Princess: Belle
Favourite Movie: Beauty and the Beast
Favourite Pixar: Monsters Inc
Favourite Park: A toss up between MK and Epcot, but I would have to say MK is strongly in the lead :teeth:
Next up is my wonderful hubby David (or Dave)
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/30600dd2.jpg
He is also a Disney fanatic and if he had his way we would never go anywhere else but Disney World. He has been to WDW five times, the first being when he was a young whipper snapper of 12yrs pirate:
Favourite Character: Stitch
Favourite Movie: Lion King
Favourite Pixar: Toy Story 3
Favourite Park: Magic Kingdom
For those of your interested in my PTR you can read it here Two Castles and a Polynesian Dream (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2682453)

So I guess its time to get this TR started. Gonna do something new and put down a recap for our PTR friends and for our newcomers :)
This TR will start off with our wedding in Lake Garda Italy, unfortunately there won't be many pics before the wedding as poor Dave, his memory card decided that it wanted to be a royal pain in the butt and not work anymore and basically loose all the pictures he took during our time in Italy :( However, I do have a few pics and vids of a couple of days, so we got something, then of course we have the wedding photos :teeth:
Next up, we'll be reminiscing on our first ever ever cruise on the Disney Dream. So can't wait to tell you all about the cruise, it was amazing and we are now total cruise addicts :teeth:
Then we have the final part of the TR, which is 10 nights at our home away from home, the Polynesian and, of course, Walt Disney World
Its my parents anniversary today so I won't be able to update tonight. Taking them to Benihana for dinner. So I thought I would leave you with some sneak peeks of what's to come, enjoy :teeth:

Oh forgot to say, as the title is really long I can't really do a title for it, so will just be doing *UPDATE* Just gotta try and remember to take it off when doing replies :)

Hi Everyone  Are we ready for an update? Sorry it's been so long, been a busy week this week, can't believe the weekend is almost over!
Well let's officially get this TR started :yay: We start off with:
Sunday September 4th
Today was a hectic day. We had to pick up the suits for Dave, my dad and his dad, my dress from my bosses house and make sure we had everything we needed as we had to check into a hotel near the airport for our 8:10am flight the next day.
Once we were all set and ready to go, we got in the car and started the drive towards Gatwick Airport, I should point out we was me, Dave and my mum and dad.
We made good time, didn't encounter any traffic which was a bonus. Found our hotel and checked in then went for some dinner at one of our favourite chain restaurants we usually go to.
There isn't many pictures for this day I'm afraid, apologies.
After dinner we headed back to the hotel to relax and watch some TV before hitting the hay. I was pottering around in our room when a thought popped into my head. Now when I travel I always freak out that I will forget our passports or anything really important and I am constantly checking and double checking that I have those documents. So much so that even though I have checked before I left the house, I check when I am in the car too (so crazy). Now I am searching my travel wallet and starting to panic...where's my cash passport?!?!?!?
A cash passport is an "easier" version of travellers cheques. Because we had to pay off the majority of our wedding stuff in Italy, I had the bright idea of using a cash passport, rather than changing £'s into Euros (the exchange rate was really craptastic) why not put everything on a card and get a better rate that way.
Anywho back to the story, I am searching and searching and realise that I have left the card at home :headache: :scared1: Freaking out even more (as this was the most important thing we needed) I ran across the hall to my parents room and proceeded to freak out at them. My wonderful Dad said he would drive back home and get it  (That was Bridezilla moment 1 of the trip)
So off we went, we were really lucky as we breezed through and were home in just under 1hr. I ran upstairs and grabbed the cash passport and some CD's for the journey back.
We made it back in good time again (fortune favoured) and was actually a nice drive just me and Dad listening to some Queen
I walked into our room, Dave was watching 3 Lions (British film which looked quite funny). I was exhausted and decided to call it night, Dave joined me not long after and we were off to Dream Land.
Monday September 5th
Our alarm was set for 5 or 6am, but I woke up around 3:50am. Dave woke up shortly after and we decided to just lay there and chat til it was time to get up. I can't believe we were up that early, it was crazy! :upsidedow
Ready to go, we checked out and dropped off the car in the car park. Hopped on the bus to the terminal and checked in. Was nice and quick, security was not, they wanted to put my dress through the scanner and I point blank said "No!" They were so adamant it has to go in there, I was like hell no have you seen the size of it? Have you seen the size of the tiny hole it has to go through? Do you not think it will squash my nice new $$$$ wedding dress? Seriously the security people here are like robots with no souls. No animation whatsoever! They finally agreed to not put it through the belt and asked me to go into a room off the side where they could swipe it and make sure I wasn't carrying a bomb sewn into the bodice (Bridezilla Moment No. 2). Satisfied that there was no threat, we walked through into departures. Got some pics for you now :)

Me carrying my dress (was not light)

Tired but excited to be going finally
We found a spot for breakfast, bought some last minute bits from the shops and before we knew it our gate was open.

We had to board a bus to get to our plane, so we crammed in. That wasn't fun with three suit bags, carry ons and a wedding dress. But we managed it, found a nice stewardess who stowed it all away nice and safe and we were off!

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/cfde5cb4.jpg
We were a little late taking off, but all in all a smooth and short plane ride (2hrs). We breezed through customs (gotta love being in an EU country with a British Passport) and found our bags. Our driver was waiting for us to take us to our hotel.
The 4am wake up was catching up to us all and we were nodding off in the car. Didn't help that it was slowly lulling us to sleep (takes an hour to get to Garda from Verona airport). But at last we arrived. Said our hello's to Roberto (the manager/owner) and checked into our room.

After checking out the view, we went downstairs for something to eat. Arturo came over to say hello (he is the owners dog).

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/f594950d.jpg
We went back up to the room and rested for a bit, still a bit tired from the morning and the car journey. Rested, we changed and went for a wak along the lake. We were meeting up with Dave's Dad, his Dad's Girlfriend Laura and his Gran for dinner at the restaurant we were having the reception at, my parents were joining us too.

At some point Dave split off from the rest of us to go find his family to take them to the restaurant. Me and my parents went on ahead. We found the restaurant and said hello to Mario (the owner) and how excited we were to be celebrating here after the wedding ceremony.
We sat down at our table and Dave turned up shortly afterwards with everyone. Alas there are no food pictures as we were all busy scoffing and chatting away, but I do have this one (me enjoying my sweet red wine).

Dinner done and everyone sated, we made our way up to the street to find a cab. It started to pour, which was not fun and we ended up getting stuck underneath a shop canopy. Dave ventured out into the rain to try and find a number for a taxi. He came back successful and our cab was here within 5mins and as luck would have it, it was the same guy that had picked us up from the airport that day (small world).
Back at the hotel we crashed and was out like a light as soon as our head hit the pillow. It was a busy day the next day as we were going round doing wedding stuff with our planner.
Next Up: Wedding stuffs and a speedboat adventure!

amazing photos of Italy Stefy! :goodvibes
What an awful moment when you realised you didn't have the cash passport  at least there was time to head home & get it, phew!
That is crazy about the security at Gatwick.. surely they could see it was a wedding dress :confused3 we had an awful experience coming back from honeymoon through that airport.. tried to use the Iris scanners (at passport control) and ended up being shouted at, in front of hundreds of other passengers, like we were children?! never a fun experience lol
So excited for more & really enjoying reading about it all!

Great update, Stefy!
What a scare forgetting your card! :scared1: No wonder you freaked!
Again, the airport security must be nuts - your dress would never have fitted comfortably through the scanners! :sad2:
I do understand security but there must be another way to check it!
Love the photos of Italy - makes me wanna go there right away. :goodvibes Can't wait for the wedding pics! :woohoo:

The town you stayed at in Italy looks so pretty!
Beautiful pictures. Just stunning. Too bad about having to go back home from the traveler's checks, but at least you found out in plenty of time.

The funny thing is that when Stef & her parents vanished into the little room, I was still picking my stuff off the scanner belt and putting it all back into my pocket. This one guard looked at me and sort of rolled his eyes in a jokey way, so I just told him straight "Sorry buddy but I'd rather she went bridezilla and pissed you off rather than me"
Though to be fair, Stef didn't really have any bridezilla moments....at least that I'm aware of, but she would have killed me if she saw the pitch black steps of death that I walked up drunk as hell at 2am the night before the wedding lol. I'll see if my dad has a pic that I can share...

I'm just like you with the checking and re-checking of passports, tickets etc.!! Lucky you live close enough to Gatwick to go back as if I'd forgotten something, it's a long drive back to Devon to pick ut up!!!! :rotfl:
Lovely photos of Italy, it's somewhere I've always wanted to spend more time in. I did a day trip to Venice on a cruise and we're going to Rome, Florence and Pisa on a cruise next year (unfortunately not a Disney one :sad1:) but would love to have a proper holiday there.
Dave - you sound like my DH the night before our wedding!!! He got completely drunk and struggled to find the way back to his room!! He was very pale and felt sick at the altar and he blamed nerves, not the hangover of course!!!!! :rotfl:

It was just one of those moments that you try so hard to avoid, but with everything else we had to remember, that one was something new and just slipped from memory. All worked out ok though.
Well I guess in a way I had 2 drink ups haha. One was before we flew to Italy, I went out with Stefs boss and a few of the guys from the office and ultimately got plastered there as well. Then obviously the night before the wedding which wasn't supposed to happen that way but who can say no to another drink?
I wasn't too bad in the morning myself, though the walk into town with my dad to get bacon was highly amusing as they do not have bacon over there! We had to get little pork cubes which i guess is their version of bacon, but after that and a cup of tea everything was right in the world again ;)
I think I was more wanting the day to stop dragging so we could get on with the show, i was quite excited.

Hi Everyone  How are we all doing? Good weekends I hope :)
So lets get back to this TR, sorry its taken so long to update, we've been busy social butterflies with birthday celebrations etc
Now where did we leave off...ah yes Day 2 in Italy which was...
Tuesday September 6th
Today we were going to be quite busy doing wedding bits. We met up with Pam (Our wedding coordinator) at 10am. She met us at the hotel and came with all the goodies we had been arranging/talking about. Once our meeting was over, we made our way into town to say hello to the florist, stylist and sign the necessary paperwork at the Town Hall.

We also visited the castle to go over where the music set up would be and also what would be happening. Afterwards we grabbed some gelato

We also checked out the little bar we had arranged for our guests to go to after the ceremony, it's so quaint and hidden, perfect :)
Along the way we bumped into two of our guests and arranged to meet for some lunch later on that day, as we were headed for my hair and makeup trial. Dave went around on his own whilst I was in the chair. He took some photos, but sadly they were on the card that decided to not work anymore :(
After the trial was done, we said our goodbyes to Pam and headed off to find our friends.
Let me say that today was one of the best days we have had in Malcesine (apart from the wedding of course) as it was very impromptu and so much fun. After we had finished eating my friend (Amber) said that we should rent a speed boat. I thought she was joking and laughed it off, but she was dead serious and it was only 55 Euros (haggled) for an hour. So off we went...

It was so much fun on that boat and a little scary. But its so fast and when you hit the slip stream of another boat it is a fun bumpy ride :teeth:
Once our hour was up we headed to the nearest bar for a drink

We all took a slow stroll back after that along the lake and stopped off at another bar and ordered some mini pizzas and cocktails to share
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/63e7c2ff.jpg
Then it was time to hit the hay as tomorrow was when most of our guests would be arriving.

Ok last quick update before The big update :teeth:
Wednesday September 7th
Today we were taking it easy and waiting for our guests to arrive. So we decided to stick to the hotel for the day and lounge by the pool. Amber and Ian joined us for a little while and we looked at the video we had captured the day before. I will get Dave to edit these so we can upload for you guys to see, as its pretty fun :)
There was a bit of confusion on my part at some point as I thought that my friends would be turning up very soon, turns out I still had a few hours. Dave's family had just turned up, so we said our hellos and they went off to grab a quick bite before coming back to the pool for a swim. I left Dave too it and went into town with my dad for some lunch.
We were also waiting for our photographer to arrive, so I told Dave to bring her down with the suitcase we had to give to the reception venue with our centrepieces etc.
I don't really have any pictures from my lunch with dad. But we had a lovely time, ate in a restaurant right on the water. After lunch we went to wait for Dave and Katy (photographer) to arrive on the tourist bust, so we sat in a little cafe and had some gelato. I think I had strawberry this time, my god it was good, with real strawberries pieces too :teeth:
Apparently, Dave forgot the suitcase or something and they missed the bus. Now its a disaster missing these buses as they run on the hour every hour. Luckily Amber and Ian saved the day and dropped them off in their rental car.
We walked down to the reception venue and dropped off the centrepieces and made our way to the castle to show Katy around and also so she could check out the venue for possible photo ops the next day.
We happened to catch a wedding going on whilst we were there and I remember saying to Dave "that's us tomorrow" :teeth:
Katy left after that to go and explore and we went to find Ian and Amber who had again very kindly said they would take us back to the hotel. Once we arrived back it looked like everyone else had turned up as well, suffice to say there was lots of girly screaming and hugs.
I gave Amber a present I had just bought. She was eying it up the day before. I also got a little something for Dave, what you think?
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/d653195d.jpg
We all went back to our rooms afterwards to freshen up, Dave had to pack his bags and leave as he was ordered to stay with his dad for the night (notice how I didn't say I ordered him). Was sad to see him leave as I haven't spent a night without him in like forever.
Cheered up by my friends we all went for dinner together, the lads would be joining Dave afterwards with his family for another impromptu stag.
Dinner was great, was fun having everyone around one big table chatting and laughing away.

Before long it was time to go, I think some of the girls wanted to go on partying but I bowed out claiming I needed to wash my hair. Not wanting to leave me alone the girls came back and we all had a few drinks outside on the hotel patio. Then it was off to bed, because tomorrow was going to be a very very big day :)

Hi everyone :wave2:
How are we all doing? I meant to update last night, but we got sucked into two new shows we have been watching, Grimm and Once Upon a Time. Anyone else watching them? They are really good, something light with fairytales and something edgy with fairytale monsters.
Anywho, thought I would do a little update this morning for you to whet your appetites :teeth:
Thursday September 8th - Our Wedding Day :bride: :groom:
Today was the big day!!! I woke up early-ish and lay in bed mind whizzing away. I vaguely remember turning on the laptop to check out emails etc and to Tweet "I'm getting married today!!!"
As the ceremony was at 5pm and things weren't officially happening til 3pm I had a lot of time to kill and had come up with the idea previously of having a girly lunch to kill time and keep my mind off my butterflies.
We all met up in the lobby at 11:30am and made our way down to the lake for the walk into town. It was at this point that the heat and stress was getting to me because I remember being in a lot of itchy pain. Can't remember if I mentioned before, but I had been feasted on by mozzies whilst there.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/1596c2a7.jpg
In this pic I am squeezing the hell out of my mums hand because I was so so itchy. Sorry mum :(
We finally made it to the restaurant and had a lovely time chatting away. Took my mind off the afternoon and my itching.

My girls
Then it was time to say goodbye, as I had my hair and makeup appointment shortly after.
Transformed me and my mum took a cab back to the hotel. I remember being worried that I might run into Dave as he was supposed to walk round to collect the button holes for him and his dad. Luckily he hadn't turned up yet and I checked out my bouquet and the button holes.
I told Roberto that Dave was coming to pick them up and was only to take two. The other one was for my dad who was getting ready at our hotel.
Back in the room I walked in to this lovely surprise

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/6c2b416c.jpg
Housekeeping had very sweetly set this out for us as a congratulations. Roberto had also bought up a bottle of prosecco and glasses as a congratulations for me to enjoy whilst getting ready with the girls. It was so sweet and such a surprise :) You can see the bucket in the corner of the pic, but we will see more soon.
I am gonna have to leave it there as I have to leave to get ready for work. But stay tuned for more :teeth:

So we left off with me about to start to get ready. I think by now the girls were already back and ready to make their way down to the castle. I was starting to get nervous as I had a little while to go before Katy (photographer) got here to start taking pictures. I couldn't get ready just yet and was starting to get a little impatient/lost.
It was at this point I had Bridezilla Moment No. 2. I realised that Dave had most probably forgotten to give him mum the corsage we had ordered for both our mothers, so I started stressing and told my mum off because she wasn't understanding what I needed her to do :( Guess that's twice I gotta say sorry to her today.
So off she went to sort that, leaving me on my own stressing and also panicking (slightly). I could hear voices and remember shouting out my friends names and they all came rushing in. Phew, now I could relax.
Mum returned and apparently all was well, the corsage was given. I think I had given her hers when we checked the flowers out.
Katy turned up not long after and it was time to start getting ready.

My mummy and daddy, love this pic of dad.
One slight regret I have is not asking Katy to take lots of pics of the dress on its own. I was too busy rushing around that I forgot. So the only one she got was one that I don't like very much.

Hey everyone! So I suppose it's my turn to write about what I was doing before the wedding so that Stef can continue the report.
My dad had rented a house for the week of the wedding (with his girlfriend Laura and my grandmother), so I decided that staying at his the night before would be the best thing to do. I woke up at around 8:00-9:00 I think, slightly rather hungover ;)
First order of business was to get a few cups of tea down us, shower, then head into town in search of food. We knew there was a big supermarket near the centre of town, so we headed straight there at a slightly slower pace than normal to see what we could find. For some reason unknown to man, there is no such thing as bacon in Lake Garda. We were walking round and round and round that supermarket for a good half an hour trying to find anything that looked even remotely like bacon! In the end we settled for a few packets of 'pork cubes' and some bread rolls.
We wandered back to the house, made more tea, ate the bacon alternative outside in the garden and played some cards to take my mind off of things. I wasn't nervous about anything that was going to be happening today, I was actually excited and just wanting to get going already!
At about 3:30 I had to go over to the hotel and pick up the button holes for me and dad, also give my mum her corsage (Which I may have put on wrong lol).
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/a49b185c.jpg
Mum and Paul (my stepdad) were going to be walking round the lake to the castle now, so we said our goodbyes and goodlucks, took a few pics, and off I went to get ready for the wedding!

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/8fa26329.jpg
My dad was in the other room getting ready whilst Katy was taking pictures of the flowers and rings, she caught me having my one and only nervous moment.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/6f8f16b5.jpg
I got dad some cufflinks to wear as well.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/ea55b614.jpg
Then it was my turn to get ready. Dad was helping with my cravat as I had no idea how to, he had to ask one of his friends back in London if he could send us instructions, but it all worked out well in the end.

Hi Dave!
It's so interesting to hear your side of the "story" as well. :goodvibes
Love the cufflinks! What a sweet gift of Stefy.
The photos are all really nice. I love the one of you and your younger brother and cousins.
Next time you go to Italy and you need bacon, go to the part where they slice ham. You have to order it there and it might be a bit different to what you call bacon. But it's pretty tasty, I tell ya.
Sorry I haven't mailed your T-shirt yet, but I packaged everything today and there is just a tiny bit of space which I wanted to fill with a few sweets. So next week it'll be on its way. :goodvibes

These last two updates have been wonderful!
What a place to have lunch on your wedding day with the girls. That was just a gorgeous view. Looks like you all were enjoying yourselves very much.
And your photos! They are so good. You look so happy. As does your parents. I love that one of your mom and dad together.
And for Dave, what a guy you have there. So very thoughtful of him to give you such a wonderful wedding present. I even teared up a little reading it. Just because it was such a sweet moment for you.
Can't wait to see the rest of your wedding day.
Thank you :) I can't remember what my dad was laughing at, but Katy caught it at the perfect time.
Wow! What a beautiful bride you were! I love your dress! Those photographs are gorgeous, and I can't wait to see more!
Wow what a thoughtful gift! Your DH seems very sentimental, I don't think my Dh could even grasp making me a photo album like that! :lmao:
You, my friend, look absolutely gorgeous and the shoes are spectacular!
Thanks ladies :) One of our guests was very surprised at the gift (he being male and gay) he says he's never seen anything so thoughtful from a guy before. Which to me is strange, as Dave is pretty good when it comes to thinking of thoughtful things :)
There is only one thing to say .........
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL BRIDE YOU ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And what a lovely gift from Dave! So sweet!
Wonderful photos, love all the momentos of your wedding and cannot wait to see more!

Thank you Kathy :)
I'm joining in! Better late than never right? I have lurked on a couple other TR's of yours and we follow some of the same people, so I figured I would come out of hiding to tell you how beautiful everything looks! Getting married in Italy??? So amazing! I can't wait to see the rest!
Hi and :welcome: Thanks for coming out of lurkdom, have seen you around on other TR's too :)
Thank you, it was the most perfect beautiful day and I wish we could experience it every year :teeth:
OMG! you looked beautiful! I love how your hair came out! DH gave me a gift that made me cry as well! Damn those boys for thoughtful/emotional gifts! That was super sweet of him. I'd love to see photos!
Thank you :) I was so pleased with my hair, as its quite fine and doesn't hold well with curls etc. But my hairdresser was amazing and those babies held for the whole day :teeth:
Amazing updates Stefy! :cloud9: everything sounded fabulous, love the gift from Dave :lovestruc
That first photo of your Mum & Dad is so lovely, they look really proud & excited for you!
Your dress & accessories were beautiful, perfect for a summery Mediterranean wedding too.. can't wait to read more

Thanks :) The venue was amazing and I am so glad we decided on Italy, whatever time of year it is always so beautiful and September always holds a special place in our hearts, as we always tend to go away in the Fall. Actually thinking about it, I don't know why we picked September (must have been a subconscious thing) :teeth:
Love the pics of you getting ready, you are such a beautiful bride! :lovestruc I love the gift from Dave, that is so thoughtful! :thumbsup2
Stunning pictures! Your dress and shoes are gorgeous and you are truly a beautiful bride!!!!!

It was nice getting a pic with just the kids, they were well behaved that day. Makes a change since they were usually trying to push me into the hotel pool . I saw a couple of meat counters, but could not find anything remotely bacon unless you mean parma ham? Oh you got the tshirt? Awesome, thanks so much. Let me know the cost and how you want me to send the money.
Stefy love the pics of you in your dress - you make a beautiful bride :cutie:
Dave thanks for sharing your perspective. Lol at LG having no bacon!
I love the pic of the rings in the flower and the gifts you gave each other on the day.
It was a travesty, but the pork cube thingies worked out just fine in the end. It was nice to sit in the garden playing cards and just relaxing. I was getting a little antsy because I hated waiting around. I wanted to get there already!
Great to hear you side of getting ready Dave. You don't look nervous at all, but quite happy I will say.
Well I don't look it, but I think I was doing one of those big breaths and she took a pic around that moment. I did have one little rush of nervousness when I actually put my suit on, everything became very real and I hate standing up in front of people. That's why I never wanted to do a big wedding over here, too many people would show up and I would be sweating my butt off lol.

I just LOVE your wedding dress!!! I love the sleeves on it as I found it hard to find one with some sort of sleeves as most of the ones I saw when I was looking were sleeveless which I don't like as they don't suit me!!! :rotfl2:
Your day so far sounds so relaxed which is lovely!!!
Are the pork cube things called lardons?! I remember having those when I studied abroad in Europe as that was all we could find which resembled bacon!!! I love the fact you wanted to make bacon sandwiches - it's the best way to start a day!!!! :goodvibes

Dave - Glad to see you are going to give "your side" of the story as well. She hooked you up with some amazing cufflinks... and I hope the bacon cubes had a much nicer description in Italian!:rotfl:

12-04-2011, 06:05 AM
We left off with me setting off to the castle. We were running late and were in a bit of a rush, but we had to stop off quickly to touch up my hair and make up.
Touch up done, we were off. Was so surreal driving through town. Lots of people were waving and saying congratulations and blessing me. Was really sweet.
At one point we had to stop as our driver got a call from Pam saying we had to hold off for 5mins. I asked what the hold up was and he said that we weren't allowed to go up just yet. What?!? :scared1: What you mean we can't go up just yet?!? Turns out that there was something wrong with the playlist I had made up, they couldn't work out how to use it or something. Dave can elaborate more as he was the one that saved the day :teeth:
Whilst we were waiting we had attracted quite a crowd, but before long we were off. Katy was waiting at the entrance for us to take some more photos.
What we arrived in

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/4d176d78.jpg
Can you believe that crowd behind us, so glad that I didn't take too much notice as I would have freaked out! Dad was saying it was like a crowd of paparazzi taking pictures.

Our own little lantern scene. We originally wanted to do sky lanterns, but because the houses in Lake Garda are in the hills it would have been quite hazardous. So we settled on floating lanterns and they turned out amazing, everyone loved them and said it was the perfect end to a perfect day.
Then it was time to head back to the hotel for a nightcap. It was such a perfect day and over so quickly, but I would not have changed a thing about it.
Next up our last day as a group before coming home :)

Dave and Stefy - what a beautiful wedding you had. Stefy you looked just gorgeous and Dave very handsome. It was just beautiful. You definitely chose a perfect spot to get married. The backgrounds in your photos just add to the ambiance of your day! And you have some awesome photos to remember it by.
Your flowers are absolutely stunning. Just love your bouquet. And the centerpieces at your reception are so elegant but so simple. Turned out perfect! And sending off those lanterns on the water, how cool.

But you kind of left us with a cliffhanger...what did Dave do that had him making that face?
Aww bless, thank you
Lol, ah yes well it was during my dad's speech (which was amazing, so proud of him). Me and Dave have known each other forever and we started going out when we were in what I think is the equivalent of junior high. Anywho we were young and naive and I think we had broken up or something and apparently he came storming home one day and shouted to his mum that he hated me and wanted to kill me (true love), bearing in mind we were like 13. Two years later when we were more grown up and about to leave school (my birthday falls during the school holidays so I turned 16 after I finished school) we got together again and have been with each other ever since :lovestruc Not much of a story, but when you hear it after all these years it is a bit of a shock
Your wedding was stunning! All of the pictures are amazing but the one with you on the balcony overlooking the water....WOW! It is GORGEOUS!! The lanterns were a nice touch. Truly beautiful.

I can't even begin to explain how amazing those pictures are. Either you guys are beautiful, your wedding planner was amazing, your photographer was a genius or ALL OF THE ABOVE! I usually try to find one or two pics to quote and comment on but I seriously wanted to choose all of them as my favorites! I love the centerpieces with the upside down glasses with flowers inside them. What an amazing day! Everything looked so beautiful. I'm so happy for you guys that everything worked out so perfectly.

I don't know why, but Italians love weddings (apparently). When I was walking to the venue, people were taking pics, smiling, saying congratulations etc and it was the same for Stef. The people sitting on the benches are tourists from Europe and also locals just out for a stroll. There are cafe's and bars and little places all over and when we were walking back through to the reception, people were still smiling, taking pictures and saying congratulations. It is kinda weird to have everyone staring at you, but at the same time they all mean well and so you just kinda go with it.

Those people were locals and tourists, the crowd got bigger because they love a good wedding over there. Was fun, but also a bit weird having everyone staring at you, but they had good intentions so... :)

What a beautiful wedding! You both look so happy, and the location couldn't have been more picturesque!
I LOVE your centerpieces, so simple, but so elegant!
I also loved your idea to float the lanterns, how creative!
I also think your photographer did an AWESOME job capturing the day!

Hi Everyone
How are we all doing? Can't believe the weekend is nearly over.
Ours has been good, did all my Christmas shopping yesterday and some bits and pieces around the house which we have been meaning to do for ages. Not long now til the Christmas break, am sooooo looking forward to it :santa:
I have some bad news for you I'm afraid. I can't do an update this weekend because the photos I need have to be downloaded and the internet connection here sucks, it will take about an hour to download and right now I don't have an hour to spare as its getting late.
So I am gonna try and download them tomorrow when at work, fingers crossed it downloads more quickly.
So sorry about that, really wanted to get a few updates out so we could start the Cruise portion. However, I can share some news with you about 2012 which I will share with you in the next post :)

Ok, so the first update for 2012 is that (as most of you are all probably aware) we are going to...
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/DLRP.jpg
Disneyland Paris!
We are quite excited to be giving DLRP another go (after last years debacle). We will be staying four nights this time in...
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/Disneyland_Hotel_Disneyland_Paris_France.jpg
The Disneyland Hotel!
Hopefully the time of year we are going it won't be too busy (more bearable) and staying at the DLH also gives you FP's each for every night you stay which is handy. I won't be doing a PTR, but will do a mini TR when we get back :)

Our second update is that we have booked 4 nights in September to celebrate our 1yr Anniversary in
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/157.jpg
Lake Garda!!!
We'll be staying at the same hotel and have requested the room my parents were in (ours was next door to theirs). We requested that one as its at the very end, which we prefer.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/001-19.jpg
We are so excited to be going back and spending a few days in our special place. We are going to try and explore Garda further by going to new parts that we haven't been to before. Meet up with Pam (our wedding planner) for dinner and check out the market in town as I missed out badly this year on bracelets. I am obsessed with the glass murano bracelets they sell over there and my friends went to the market when it was on and told me they had them on sale for 3 Euros each, which is a frickin steal!
Only downer for the trip is that someone is getting married on our actual anniversary and have booked the whole entire restaurant we had the reception at. Am a bit sad because I really wanted to eat there on the actual day, but we can eat there another day and I am sure Pam can recommend somewhere that will be just as good.
Again, depending on where we are at on the boards, we would love to do some sort of mini TR to share with you guys :)

The next update is a major life update. People keep asking "How is married life" and my honest answer is no different because a) we have been together for 10yrs before getting married and b) we have lived together for 2yrs also. For me, our married life is going to begin when we find a place to live which is going to be very soon in the New Year (we hope).
We have decided to move out of London as we are just so fed up with the area we live in right now and the new area we have chosen is only 12 miles out of London, which isn't too bad for travel to work. Its also very nice looking and the people are friendly. You kinda get the whole village vibe, local pub, takeaway, restaurants etc. More community like and laid back :)
I am very excited to start the next chapter in our life as I feel like this will be a new beginning where we get to set up our own home just the way we like it.
I am also very excited to have dinner parties and our very first Christmas as husband and wife (I'm not counting this year) which is going to involve basically going into Christmas overload with decorations, food etc
We are also aiming to learn to drive and pass our test around Easter, as being close to London for public transport is all well and good, but I would much rather drive in.
So that is what we have to look forward to in 2012, I do have one last update for you though and it is Disney related :teeth:
Stefy

So our very last update is a Disney related one.
Now from the last few updates you haven't seen anything for WDW. We have actually booked a 10 night stay for November 2012 at AKL, however, due to life commitments at home we have decided to cancel going to WDW next year and will be going back in 2013.
Now you may think that that is bad news, but on the contrary we have cheered ourselves up by planning 2013 and let me tell you this trip will defo make up for missing out on WDW in 2012.
The plan (so far) is this. We are thinking about arriving towards the end of October and will start the trip off with:-
2 Nights @ Loews Portofino Bay to finally check out The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Then its on to WDW for 5 nights to catch the end of Halloween/MNSSHP and F&WF
But we are not done there no, after that we are going to do a
4 Night Bahamas Cruise on the Dream
Then its back to WDW for another 5 nights to celebrate Christmas
That is scenario 1. Scenario two will be the same, except instead of a split stay we will do US/IOA and 10 nights at WDW followed by the 4 Night Cruise.
We are undecided on which scenario as we love the idea of doing Halloween and Christmas. Can you imagine arriving for Halloween then going on a cruise to then coming back and see everything decked out for Christmas?!? :teeth:
The only thing thing making us think twice about scenario 1 is that the end of October is always very busy and we have heard that the beginning of November can get busy what with everyone wanting to visit when Christmas is starting and also I think there is Jersey Week and Veterans Day as well during that time.
But we have some major research to do and luckily quite a bit of time to think it through properly. However, we would most certainly welcome any advice you guys have. Let us know what scenario you prefer and what advice you have for them.
Ok, I'll stop boring you all with non TR related stuff. Hopefully tomorrow I can get these pictures downloaded and ready for the next update :)

Love the idea of you going back to Garda for your anniversary. And it sounds great that you are moving to a new area. And you are going to Disney Paris and then another long trip in 2013. Wow!

Wow, those are SOME updates!
Firstly, I totally understand the "how's married life" questions. It was the same for Tom and me. Our answer was always, it's exactly the same! I'm so jealous you live in a place where you can plan a trip to France one weekend and Italy another. Even you talking about living in London sounds so glamorous! Good luck finding a nice home in the place you are interested in. It sounds fantastic!
Holy crap, that 2013 Disney trip sounds amazing! I reeeally like scenario 1 with a week in WDW for Halloween, cruise and then going to back WDW for Christmas. So cool!
But the most important question is, what does this all mean for your north-eastern United States trip? Is that not going to happen anymore? Maybe before this huge WDW trip, you can fly into NYC and spend a few days???

Thanks :) We can't wait to go back to Garda and relax and take some time. This year was very hectic and I don't think we spent any time alone together, which was fine as we had family and friends with us :)

I don't mind the questions, but like you say you wish you had more to answer than "pretty much the same as always" :)
It is cool living so close to DLRP, but trust me the price to go there is ridiculous! Be cheaper to go to WDW  But we are lucky to live so close to Europe, is funny though as we haven't really explored that much of it which is shocking!
We love the idea of scenario 1, we hope we can do it. But the booking system over here for Disney in the UK is different to the US. Split stays can be difficult. We only really have packages (unless you have Tables in Wonderland and Annual Passes) we book resort, tickets and dining together. So if we split stay, we have to book 5 day tickets and dining for one booking and then another booking for the other 5 nights. We can't book all in one for two separate dates. So we also need to research what the difference is in cost to do two separate bookings to one booking (hope that made sense).
As for NYC, we won't be making it over next year but I promise you we will get there one day, its on my bucket list of places to visit and I so want to meet you and Tom too :)

Great updates :) I'm glad you are giving DLP another chance and are returning to Lake Garda for your anniversary :)
As for WDW I prefer scenario one...have you thought about booking the first part via a package booking and then renting DVC points for the second half. You may have already considered this...it's what I'm hoping to do for our 2013 trip.

First off - GREAT NEWS, Stefy!
I cannot wait to find out what area you are targeting on getting a home at, but my aunt lives in Orpington and it is such a wonderful nice quiet place and then you are in the bustling city in half an hour! :thumbsup2
A Lake Garda vacation next year sounds wonderful. I know the area, we have spent quite a bit of time there when we were younger. I am even thinking that instead of going back to Lignano we could even go to a small village at Lake Garda, who knows, we still have a few months to decide. ;)
Love your plans for 2013, even though we will miss you again! :scared1: :sad2:
I especially love the fact that you follow "our" vacation style. :rotfl2:
Dividing your vacation into several parts is the best you can do ...... lots of fun and always something to look forward to.
As a little advice (don't know if you want to use a TA or not) BUT, Universal does have specials on their rooms but they usually run around 3 nights. So you might want to consider that (they offered a room discount AND free entry)

I don't know where you book Stefy, but if you book with Disney.co.uk there IS the option of booking room only. They just don't offer many discounts for it.
My advice:
a) book a package for the first part and take the ultimate ticket, book a room only with either the British or US Disney company - preferably US, as the discounts are usually better.
b) consider buying an AP (staying longer than 10 days makes it worth while) Get a room only with either a GP or AP discount for the two parts of your vacation. (Having an AP has many advantages - you can buy a TiW card, get discounts at many stores and IF you should go back in 2014 and you time it right, you can get a second visit out of your AP - by going in late September 2014 before your AP expires)
I always have to try and get the best deal otherwise we would not be able to travel the way we do! :goodvibes

Hi Stefy!
Excited to hear about your plans for 2012.. hope the trip to Disneyland Paris is good, the hotel looks beautiful - like the Grand Floridian but with a European style? :cutie:
The 2013 trip to WDW and a cruise sound fantastic! It'll seem ages away (like my next cruise seems lol) but it's nice to have plenty of time to save up and plan :cutie: - great idea to see the Halloween and Christmas decorations in one trip too!
Hope the house-hunting goes well, moving out of central London sounds like a good idea :thumbsup2 (I know what you mean about the "how's married life?" questions too! DH and I have been together 7 years and lived together for four of those, so apart from changing my title & surname, it's just the same :lovestruc hehe)
Good luck with the driving lessons! :thumbsup2 That will be something fun and a real achievement for the new year.. I grew up in a quiet, remote village so pretty much had to learn to drive as soon as I turned 17 if I wanted to get anywhere! :cutie: I probably wouldn't have learnt though if I'd lived in a city.. I used to dread my lessons but love being able to drive now lol.
Hope you're having a good Monday and getting excited for Christmas! :santa:

I don't know if we would do DVC as we like to have the free dining when its offered and the deal on the park tickets is usually good. I don't know whether it would be a big enough saving or not to do it that way :confused3

We are thinking of Elstree & Borehamwood, is only 12 miles from London, transport connections are good and driving wise is a straight run really.
A Lake Garda vacation next year sounds wonderful. I know the area, we have spent quite a bit of time there when we were younger. I am even thinking that instead of going back to Lignano we could even go to a small village at Lake Garda, who knows, we still have a few months to decide. ;)

We book with UK Disney, I like to get the free dining and cheaper tickets. Have tried to price with AP's etc but it always works out more expensive because you are buying the AP for the first time so you have that lump sum to swallow. Then there is dining, you can't get the dining plan anymore with an AP can you?
I always have to try and get the best deal otherwise we would not be able to travel the way we do! :goodvibes
Believe me we always want to get the best deals, just a shame our deals in the UK suck :(

Hey Guys :wave2:
Sorry for the lack of update last night, got a bit distracted playing Disney Universe. Dave bought me a controller for his PS3 and it turned up yesterday and now we are hooked on DU, its so much fun and so cute, anyone else have the game?
Anywho, the pics downloaded ok yesterday and we are good to go, so will try and get the update out tonight.
Ciao for now

Don't you just love a morning off, so I can get right back to you.
Stefy, I just priced out the AP and it's about 100 GBP more than the 7 day tickets I usually HAVE TO buy with my OKW package. (used an online converter)
BUT ......... with your AP you can get a discount on your room rate AND you CAN get the DDP!!!!! (just not have to buy tickets). You would have to pay for the DDP, but if you buy in the US it is not as expensive as the British offer it for. OR you could get a TiW card, which gives you 20% off of your meals (adult beverages too).
Oh, and I forgot ....... you like to shop, don't you? There is a 10% discount at the WoD (and at the moment they are offering 10% off at ALL WDW stores - more savings) :thumbsup2
Where your AP really comes to shine is when you go for a second time (which would easily be doable for you) within the one year.
2013 mid October to November vacation
2014 mid September to mid October vacation ........ easy ........ and your entry to the parks is virtually FREE!!!!!!!!!

Your plans sound fabulous! I hope you do a mini TR of DLRP, I have been there once several years ago but I didn't get much accomplished!
We are doing something similar to your 2013 plans, we are doing WDW for a few days before and after a 4 night Dream cruise on 10/20. My parents are joining us for either the before or the after for F&W. We probably will only do a few days on either end though. Sounds like 2012 will be a busy year for you guys!

Hi All
How are we all doing? Can't believe another weekend has come and gone. Hope you have all had a good one :)
Well let's get this TR back on track shall we :) Last I left off we had just got married  Today we woke up as husband and wife. The plan was to spend the day together, but our friends wanted to go up to Mount Baldo and we thought, why not as its not everyday all your friends are together on holiday. So off we went.
We hopped on the tourist bus which stops outside, but at this particular time the bus was very busy and crowded which made us miss our stop. We got off on the next one, which luckily wasn't too far a walk.
A word of advice, if you want to visit Mount Baldo you need to go early morning as we were there around 11am and it was packed! The line for tickets was huge, took us about 40mins to just get tickets, then after that we had to join another line up the stairs to get into the cable cars.
Here are some pics from the ticket line.
We were just there yesterday :teeth:

Another thing about going early, so worth it as when it is busy they really pack you in to these cable cars and unless you are lucky enough to get to stand near the glass bits, if you're short like me its very difficult to hold on :(
We made it to midway point and waited for the next car

My budding photographer
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/d01f8dfd.jpg
We split up with some of our group after lunch and went back down to town and said goodbye to our friends there as we had to pick up our bits and pieces from the restaurant.
Mario greeted us when we got there and congratulated us again. We left to go back to the hotel and chill (and open presents :teeth: ). Can't really remember what we did after that, think we went down to the lake with Dave's dad and girlfriend which actually was so much fun as the boys were so silly nearly falling on their butts in the water  We got some great video footage.
I think after that we went back to the hotel and had dinner with a couple of our friends across the road from the hotel. This place is awesome and I think we have found another great little eatery. Its nothing special, but does the most amazing pizza and takeaway too :teeth:
We said our goodnights and said we would say goodbye in the morning.
The next day we were flying home so we spent most of it packing and saying goodbye to everyone, but not before heading back over the road for one of these
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/02d2cd74.jpg
Pam came to say goodbye and our driver turned up to take us to the airport. We had a few hours wait before our gate opened so we just sat around people watching and picked up a few bits and pieces. I saw this baby and just had to try it

Finally it was time to board the plane, we were making our way up the stairs and I asked the stewardess if there was somewhere we could stow my dress and the suits. She looked at me like I was speaking a different language and was totally unhelpful. So my dad and Dave took my dress and the suits and went back downstairs and boarded the plane from the front where they encountered a lovely stewardess who found somewhere to store everything. They got chatting and my dad bought up that it we had just got married and asked her if she could announce it over the tannoy. She said she couldn't, but did come back with these

It was really sweet of her, we cracked one of them open and toasted. The other one we have here as a memento :)
The flight home was uneventful and we were back in London before we knew and headed home to our beds.
Next up, we fly to Disney!!!

Great update, Stefy!
I love all your pictures ....... the view from up there is wonderful! :goodvibes
I am going to answer Dave's PM tomorrow or the day after, I am on sickleave at the moment (lost my voice :rotfl2:) and even though I am home, it takes me forever to get things done.

Oh no, sorry to hear you aren't feeling very well. Get better soon
Thanks, Mount Baldo is amazing and the views are fantastic. I think next time we will try and go for when it opens, that way its not so stressful actually getting up there and feeling like a sardine.

Now we are on to the WDW portion of the trip. Are you ready?
We got back from Italy on a Saturday evening. We had to work Monday and Tuesday (half Tues for me) and then it was time for Disney!!!
The reason I had a half day on Tuesday is because I am notorious with my packing and usually need half a day to pack. I hate doing it with a vengeance and if I could pay someone to do it for me, I would. I remember taking a pic and emailing Dave my progress as he thought I was procrastinating over it.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/a22bc3aa.jpg
I think I did quite well that day :teeth:
Then it was off to bed ready for Disney the next day.
We woke up early and got ready and do last minute packing. Done and dusted, our car turned up and we were off :hyper:
As a treat to ourselves we booked a luxury transfer

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/6880ff5b.jpg
A Mercedes S-Class, it was such a smooth spacious ride. I think I'm hooked and want to use this company again as they were excellent and so friendly and also based on the fact that the ride home from the airport 2 weeks later was a nightmare! But that's for later on.
So off we went, missed out on a lot of traffic, but I think its because our driver took the long route. But it was fine as we made it to the airport with plenty of time to spare.
Another treat (and I think regular thing) we gave ourselves was booking time in the lounge at the airport.
Not the greatest pic sorry
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/9299587e.jpg
I loved the lounge, it was a great way to kill time after doing all our shopping bits. As part of the package we could have unlimited food and drink and one hot food each from the menu, plus champagne :teeth:
Dave got a bacon sarnie
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/7e8990dd.jpg
I got eggs benedict

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/892e0e13.jpg
We spent most of our time in here chilling and snacking. I think what also made this a great idea was the fact that our flight was delayed by two hours. I would have been stir crazy if we hadn't been in here and downstairs on the hard benches :( Its getting really frustrating these days with Virgin as they are constantly delayed and I really don't understand why. You expect it from the budget domestic airlines, not the big chartered long haul airlines. But oh well, what can you do?
Our gate finally opened up and we made our way down. Our number was called and before we knew it we were sitting in the "bubble" waiting to take off.

Complimentary champagne or orange juice
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/WildIllusion86/September%202011/90709548.jpg
Then we were cruising down the runway and up in the air

wow we had very similar honeymoon travel days! :cutie:
So glad you two enjoyed the lounge at Gatwick.. I definitely prefer it to the Virgin Holidays V-Room, and like you say - nice to sit somewhere comfortable rather than those hard benches in the departure lounge ;)

Great updates, Stefy.
The pictures in Italy are beautiful.
I can't believe you took that many pairs of shoes to Disney. My husband has put me on a huge restriction of how many shoes I can take on our trips. :lmao::lmao:
Can't wait to hear about your arrival at Disney.

You take as many pairs of shoes to Disney as I do!
The last trip I took, I only took one pair of tennis shoes and two pairs of flip flops because I only used a carryon and I about died! I missed my choices. :lmao:
Beautiful Italy pictures. Can't wait to hear about your arrival in Disney.

Alright, I'm finally caught up. First of all, your wedding was soooo gorgeous. The centerpieces were so beautiful, and oh my, that scenery . You two make such a cute and happy couple!
It's good that you got to spend some time with your friends while in Italy. Yay for everything going smoothly on your way back to England. Boo for a delayed flight to Orlando though. I can't wait to hear about your first surprise!!:yay:

We prefer to fly midweek or Tuesday, habit of flying on quieter flights to Singapore all the time.
We are defo doing the lounge again, was a great way to kill time and relax.

I wish I could take less as it really contributes to the weight, but I have this thing about wearing one pair of flats for too long, I like to air them out for a couple of days. Weird I know, but...

Oh it was so annoying that the plane was delayed by 2hrs!!! I think its because the planes they fly out of Gatwick are old versions that are on their last legs. I'm hoping by the time our next trip roles around the new models might be up and running :)
We almost cancelled the car service, but I'm glad we didn't was a nice way to travel to the airport :)
