HELLO and welcome to my 3rd trip report! We just got back on Saturday from an amazing 10 DAYS in the World, and I'm so excited to share our trip with all of you!

Let's just jump right in and get all the important stuff out of the way, shall we? :)

The cast of this trip was:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/Day%203/P1010125.jpg

Me! Jen, obsessive Disney freak! Always looking for a way to get back to Disney World, and ways to bring Disney into my every day life! This was my 9th trip to Disney, I went 4 times with my family when I was younger, and now 5 times with my DH!

My DH is Brandon, who was obviously with me on the trip!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/Day%203/P1000825.jpg

That's him, being impatient with my whole "hold on, I need to take a picture of that before you eat it" thing I had going on every time we ate something! He likes Disney World, you might even say he loves it, but definitely not the way I do, although I think with each trip we take, he's turning into more and more of a freak! :rolleyes1

The dates of our trip were 9/29-10/8, our longest trip yet! We chose to go in early October because for the past 2 years, we have gone in November for all the Christmas festivities, and really wanted to give early Fall a try! I heard such great things about Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, and after catching the end of the Food and Wine festival last year, we knew we wanted to do that again for a full week. That, combined with getting an awesome pin code discount for our resort, is how we decided to go the first week of October (and the last couple days of September, because I kept adding days!) :)

The pin code was kind of important, because I knew I REALLY wanted to stay at a deluxe resort for this trip, and without some kind of discount, it wouldn't have happened! But we ended up staying at my beloved Wilderness Lodge, which we have stayed at before, and loved! :lovestruc I really feel so at home at this resort, it was nice to return again after staying there 2 years ago!

I hope all of my DIS friends will join me to read along about our trip, and I hope to meet some new DIS friends along the way, so please, feel free to join in and say hi! :wave2: There were many fun, exciting, spectacular moments that I can't wait to share (and of course, a few not so magical things along the way!) So I hope you will all sit back, relax, keep your hands and arms inside the carpet, and soon this trip report will be ready to go! :woohoo:

(Oh yes, one more thing, the title of this TR-I had a few that I was considering, but none of them really jumped out at me. Then I was at work today, thinking about how I'd love a waffle from the Belgium booth at the Food and Wine festival, and remembered how excited they got every time someone ordered a waffle! The person reading the orders would say "one more waffle" and everyone preparing the orders would yell "ONE MORE WAFFLE!" As soon as I remembered that, I knew that was the title of my TR!)

No Better Feeling :)

Hi everyone! Ready to get this TR started, finally! Before I do get started, I want to apologize for the lack of pictures in this update, and if the travel part of arrival day might be a little boring. I'm going to try to make the travel portion kind of brief and have this update get us up to arriving in Disney! I actually started before, but I deleted everything I wrote, it was just way too much detail about arriving at the airport!

Anyway, here we go!

Thursday, 9/29

There is no better feeling than waking up and knowing you are going to Disney World that day! Even at 2:30 in the morning, after you have only slept a few hours. I was tired, but I was ready to go...I was convinced it was going to be a great day and I wanted to get moving!

I made myself a cup of tea to wake up a little, then surprisingly woke Brandon up with no arguments. We got our stuff together, and we were out the door!

We had to make a quick stop at 7-11 for gum and cough drops (I was getting over bronchitis and still had a horrible cough, and didn't want to annoy everyone on the plane!) so while I waited in the car, I snapped this picture, just to remember what time we left:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000055.jpg
Ohhhh, so early...

We got to the airport in no time and parked the car in a long term lot. We waited a few minutes for the shuttle to pick us up to bring us to the terminal, and when we did get on the shuttle, Brandon and the driver complained about the Red Sox the whole way, as I daydreamed about what an amazing night in Epcot we were going to have when we arrived in Orlando!

(If you are a baseball fan, you will remember that the night before, the Red Sox and Tampa Bay Devil Rays were in a tie for the Wild Card to get into the playoffs. The Sox needed to win and the Rays needed to lose...well, the opposite happened, and Brandon, and all of Red Sox Nation, was NOT happy, to say the least. At least the Yankees ended up getting knocked out in the first round of the Division Series, though. :rolleyes1)

We made it to the terminal, and checked our luggage and quickly headed over to security. The lines were not bad at all and we would have made it through pretty fast, but Brandon had powder in his carry on that they thought was suspicious, I guess. They pulled him aside and ran all these tests. When they realized that it was, in fact, just powder, we were on our merry way!

We had our usual breakfast at Mc Donald's, and then went to our Gate. Brandon chatted with a few people about the Red Sox again, and I silently freaked out about the upcoming plane ride...

Ok, not so silently:

Me-"I'm afraid of the plane."

Brandon-"You're fine"

Me-"I know I'm fine, but I'm afraid. What if the landing gear doesn't work? What if I get a blood clot? What if-"

Brandon-"You're insane. It's fine."

I'm sure that wasn't the exact conversation, but that was the basic idea. We have the same one every single time we fly. I'm not afraid of flying exactly, but I hate taking off. And turbulence. And landing. :rotfl:

My worrying was all for nothing, we had a great flight! I was amazed when we took off from rainy, gray CT that within minutes, we were in beautiful, blue, sunny skies:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000056.jpg

We arrived in Orlando about 20 minutes early, and hopped on the mini monorail. I LOVE this little monorail, just one of those little things that reminds me that I'm almost in Disney World!!!!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000059.jpg
Palm Tree!!!

When we stepped off the monorail, I turned to Brandon and said "It smells like Disney World!" I love the way Florida smells, I don't know what it is, but if I could bottle that and bring that home with me, I'd be a happy girl. :lovestruc

We went to baggage claim, grabbed our bags, and made our way over to Alamo to get our car. I always let Brandon pick the car, since he does 95% of the driving, and he picked a white Hyundai Sonata, which we both really loved.

We loaded our bags into the car, cranked up the AC (it was unbelievably HOT that day already, and it was maybe 10 am!) and we were off to Disney World!

The drive from the airport seems shorter and shorter each trip, because soon I saw this:

Waking up the morning you're going to Disney is always easy! I hate mornings, but I get up nice and easy when it's time to go to WDW!

That's awesome that you guys got there so early in the morning! I hate the fact that I lose an hour traveling from our central time zone, so we always land no earlier than 11ish.

DisneyDreamerMN
10-14-2011, 08:23 PM
I too never get sleep the night before we leave. We went to Las Vegas earlier this year and I had no problems sleeping the night before we left. But the night before leaving for Disney....maybe 3 hours. :rotfl:

Woohoo! You got there!

I feel your pain when it comes to flying. I've got no problem if the flight is smooth, but I cannot handle any bumps.

Can't wait to read more!

:woohoo: Woo Hoo!!!!!! Florida by 10am!

I haven't necessary noticed the Florida "smell", but I think the air feels different. It just has a tropical feel even at the same temperature as up here. A cleaner feel!

Denny and I used to joke that no matter where we went from Philly, when we got home and the captain would announce "......and the weather in Philadelphia today is....." We would say "45 degrees and rainy".

Your new camera is taking great pictures so far!!!!

I can't wait to hear what you thought of CSR. I forgot to ask you when I saw you. I have resisted the urge to switch from Pop, but CSR was calling. I am really hoping when we stay at Pop everyone will love it so much so that I dont have to spend so much on our next trip, whenever that is.

What time was your flight? Our flight is at 630 on Thurs and I am trying to figure out when to leave. I always leave way too early.

I have never met someone who thinks they are going to have blood clots issues the way you do:confused3

I have to agree in that there is no better feeling than knowing you are leaving for Disney World! :yay:

YAY off to a great start, we are leaving tomorrow, but I will catch up when I return!! We are getting up super early tomorrow and hopefully I wont be cranky :rotfl:

My whole family back in MA was so upset that the Sox lost, then again I feel like we shouldn't be surprised sometimes :rotfl:
I always get picked on at work for having Red Sox stuff in my office, but they all route for the Braves who also didnt do good this year!

Awww the smell of florida, I just love it, namely that Disney World smell!!! :goodvibes

Great start!

There really is nothing like waking up in the morning to go to Disney, especially when you're up all night just thinking about the trip. It's amazing how you can get that crazy boost of energy at 3 in the morning :hyper: Yowzers!

Oh, please don't get me started on the Red Sox... Like I'm not a big huge fan, but what happened has just been bothering me... At least the Yankees aren't going to the World series :woohoo: Moving on...

Glad to hear bag check, security and the flight went by smoothly. The TSA is really crazy when it comes to anything remotely suspicious in a bag when it isn't  It's pretty annoying, but at least we know we're safe on a flight. (:

YAY DISNEY! I love the Florida/Disney smell too. I don't know what it is, but it just reminds me I'm on vacation :goodvibes Always very relaxing... A big :thumbsup2 to the heavenly gate pictures, how I will miss them :')

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

YAY! You made it to Disney! I used to HATE flying. My sister scarred me by making me watch this TV show called "Why planes go down". Nice sister huh? :rotfl: Needless to say I was panick stricken every time I stepped onto a plane. That was until I stumbled upon another article online (I can't remember where I found it now) but it really helped explain what all the normal noises are and how to calm your fears about flying. Now I don't panic so much at turbulence but I still grab the arm rests now and again ;)

Great update, Jen. Hooray for an uneventful flight and arriving in Orlando early. We had a Sonata on this trip too (Mark wants it to be our next car).

I can't wait to hear what you thought of CSR, were you eat at DTD and what your first park is.

LOL, I have no problem waking up for Disney! It's not always pleasant, but you get over it pretty fast! :rotfl:

Ugh, that's annoying about losing an hour because of the time change, that would aggravate me, I like to get to Disney as early as possible!

I too never get sleep the night before we leave. We went to Las Vegas earlier this year and I had no problems sleeping the night before we left. But the night before leaving for Disney....maybe 3 hours. :rotfl:

Haha, yeah, I'm sure if we were going somewhere else on vacation, I'd have no problem sleeping, but before Disney, I'm SO excited, it's impossible to get a decent amount of sleep!

Woohoo! You got there!

I feel your pain when it comes to flying. I've got no problem if the flight is smooth, but I cannot handle any bumps.

Can't wait to read more!

Ugh, I'm really not a big fan of flying. It's really mostly taking off and landing that are my biggest problems, in the air I'm ok! When we land, I'm actually sometimes surprised that we made it safely!

Wow, you guys got up even earlier than we did! Glad things went well. I'm with you on the not liking take-off, turbulence, and landing! Can't wait to hear about CSR!

LOL, yeah, I'm kind of crazy when it comes to leaving for the airport, I like to get there super early! It's too bad there wasn't a way you could skip the taking off and landing part of flying! :rotfl:

I'm here!!!! Great start!! I'm glad the flight was good for you :) Even when you live in FL, going to WDW still smells great!!! Can't wait to see where you stayed at CSR since we checked in the next day!

Thanks, it was a nice, quick flight, the best kind! I don't think I could ever get tired of that WDW/Florida smell, it's amazing! I actually considered bringing home a bottle of Florida tap water, but I thought that might be a little weird! :rolleyes1

The air does feel different in FL, it's so much nicer than up here in CT! It does smell great down there, you should try to notice it next time you go! :thumbsup2

LOL, that's pretty much how I feel, landing back in CT...whenever they announce the weather I think "cold, gray, rainy, miserable". It just seems like whenever we come home from Disney, the weather is awful here!

Thanks, I really like my new camera, I'm glad I got it! :cool1:

I can't wait to hear what you thought of CSR. I forgot to ask you when I saw you. I have resisted the urge to switch from Pop, but CSR was calling. I am really hoping when we stay at Pop everyone will love it so much so that I dont have to spend so much on our next trip, whenever that is.

What time was your flight? Our flight is at 630 on Thurs and I am trying to figure out when to leave. I always leave way too early.

I have never met someone who thinks they are going to have blood clots issues the way you do:confused3

I think you will like Pop, I really would like to stay there someday! And if you hate it, at least it's only one night!

I like to leave for the airport 3 hours before the flight, because I'm so nervous about traffic and parking and everything, but we have left 2 hours before and have been fine. :thumbsup2

Yeah, I know, I have issues with thinking I have blood clots, I don't know where I got that from. :confused3

Yay you are in Disney!!!:banana::banana:

I'm the same way you are, I don't really fear flying but I freak myself out as I'm sitting there ready to take off. Eeek.

Yay!!! :woohoo:

I wish I could just be excited about flying instead of nervous! I often wonder if I should go to a dr. and get some Xanax or something for the flights! :)

I feel the same way you do...

Ugh, yeah, I really don't like taking off or landing. I can handle turbulence ok once I look at the flight attendants just going about their business and doing their jobs, but taking off and landing is scary!

I love seeing that Disney sign, it's so exciting!!! :yay:

Yay, you made it to Disney! I agree it's worth getting up early when you know you're going to WDW. :goodvibes

Ugh, I know, I should be used to the Sox losing, but this year, they seemed like they were SO good, and they just collapsed. And now that Terry and Theo are gone, I don't know what they are going to be like next year. I hate when they have to look for managers.

I already miss waking up and going outside on my balcony at WL and inhaling that Disney air and smell! Although, now it smells like Fall up here in CT and that's almost as good! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I love the night before a Disney trip, so much excitement! We tried to go to sleep at 10ish but it took a long time to actually fall asleep!

I'm glad the Yankees aren't in the WS either, or the stupid Rays, I dislike them almost as much as the Yankees! I really hope the Sox get everything figured out by next year!

Yeah, I wasn't annoyed that they had to test Brandon's powder, I suppose it could have been anything! :confused3 Whatever they have to do to make sure we have a safe flight is fine by me! :woohoo:

I wish I could find a candle at Yankee Candle that smelled like Florida...maybe I should write to them and suggest that? You know every Disney freak in the country would buy one! :yay:

Yay!! Wow, I would never watch that show! I think there was something similar on recently, and I remember saying "yeah, no way am I watching that." :sad2: I would like to read that article, though...although, I suppose if I heard a noise that was abnormal and not in the article, I'd freak out, so maybe it's better I don't! :rotfl:

Arrival Day, Part One!

Thursday, 9/29

When we left off, we were just driving on to Disney property. I was so happy to be back in my favorite place in the world, I really wanted to get to CSR, check in, rest a little, and get to Epcot, but Brandon had other plans. He was hungry, and decided to mention to me now that he forgot his swim suit at home. :sad2: (I think I forgot to mention in the intro that we were staying at CSR for one night before we checked in to WL for the remainder of our trip, just in case anyone was confused!)

So we made a little detour to Downtown Disney. If we had to stop to eat, it had to be Earl of Sandwich. Mmmmm, Earl of Sandwich. I crave those amazing sandwiches through the entire year, so of course, it had to be the first Disney thing I ate!

We parked and walked over to EoS and I realized just how HOT it was that day...it had to be at least 90 degrees, and kind of humid. I don't do well going from rainy, 60 degree weather to 90 and sunny. Keep that in mind for later. :rolleyes1

We got our sandwiches and I was in heaven...unfortunately, I don't have any pictures, I just wasn't in food picture taking mode yet, but I do know that I had my favorite, the tuna melt and iced tea, and Brandon had the Original and a soda. It was probably around 10:30-11 when we were there, and we got there just in time, as it was starting to get busy.

We walked back to our car to go over to Pleasure Island (there was no way I was walking in that heat!), because Brandon wanted to go to Curl to look for a swim suit, and I was feeling kind of miserable from the heat. I was getting a headache, so I took some Excedrin, thinking that would take care of it and I'd be fine.

It was fun seeing the balloon up close, it seems like every time I see it, it's from a distance:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000061.jpg

That's the only proof I have that we were at DTD that day...one pathetic picture!

Anyway, we went in Curl, and Brandon tried on swim suits, and I got more and more miserable from the heat. Curl was air conditioned, but it was crowded and it's so small in there that it was hot inside. Brandon was taking forever, so I got kind of cranky and started snapping at him to hurry up. I hate being cranky in Disney. :sad1:

Finally he was finished, and we walked back to the car.

Brandon-"Can you please get out of your mood?"

Me-"I'm not in a mood, I'm hot, I'm tired, and I have a headache."

Brandon-"Well try not to let it ruin the rest of the day."

Me-"I won't, I'll be fine once I shower and sleep a little, and when we get to Epcot."

Although I denied it, Brandon was right, I was in a mood, but I didn't want to be in a bad mood in Disney, so I tried to push it aside and look forward to the day we had planned! I was excited about CSR, and I assumed that once I did all of the things I mentioned, and my Excedrin kicked in, I'd be good to go.

We drove over to CSR and went in to check in, and I was praying to the Disney Gods that our room was ready!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000062.jpg

Luckily, it was! And I got my request, to be in the Casitas section!

I could not wait to see our room, and it did not disappoint, it was beautiful!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000065-1-1.jpg
LOL, sorry about the weird size of the picture, had to crop Brandon out of it!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000064.jpg

I was so happy to be in our beautiful room, to be in Disney, and knowing that soon, I would be in my favorite park, Epcot, that I forgot about my bad mood from DTD and focused on feeling better. I took a shower, a quick nap, and got myself ready for a day in Epcot! I could not wait!

Me-"You know what will make me feel a lot better? A margarita in Mexico. Let's go!"

Continuing in next post...

Arrival Day, Part Two!

Thursday, 9/29 continued

Minutes after leaving CSR, we were in what may be my favorite place in the entire world, Epcot!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000067.jpg
Ahhh, the first of many pictures of Spaceship Earth!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000068.jpg

I tried to go slow, and savor being in Epcot, listen to my beloved Epcot-y music, but I was ready to go. Although, I was already feeling the heat and decided before we did anything, we should get a drink. We figured why not just go to Club Cool?

I drank some of the Fanta and the ginger ale, but that was it. Brandon tried all of them, even the infamous Beverly, and didn't make a face, just said it wasn't good!

I don't remember what Brandon bought when we were there, but he did buy something, because I remember wandering around, waiting for him to pay.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000070.jpg
This candy is so cute!!!

Once we finished up in Club Cool, I was on a mission. Anyone who read my PTR can guess where we were headed:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000071.jpg

My beloved Soarin'! Ohhh, how I love Soarin' so...I was counting on Soarin' to cure me of my headache and my overall blah feeling from the heat, but unfortunately, the stand by line was really long. So we got FP's for later and headed over to the World Showcase!

Even though the Food and Wine festival didn't officially start until the next day, the booths were open!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000073.jpg

Brandon wanted to check out the new Hawaii booth and decided to get the pork slider

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000072.jpg

and then went next door to the craft beer booth to get a beer:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000076.jpg

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000078.jpg
Entertaining myself while Brandon waits for his beer.

I'm not a big drinker, but I was cursing my headache at that point, because his beer just looked so cold and yummy and I really wanted one. But I figured since it just wasn't going away, my best bet was to take some more Excedrin and chug some water. Alcohol would definitely not be helping the situation. :sad2:

We decided that even though I might not be able to have a margarita to head over to Mexico anyway, because I thought maybe the nice, quiet boat ride might help.

We got to Mexico and there was actually a wait for Gran Fiesta Tour! I couldn't believe it, that's always a walk on! Never mind a walk on, that's the kind of ride you expect your own private boat on!

Well, we didn't get our own boat, we had to share with some really obnoxious women sitting behind us. All they talked about was when they went to the real Mexico and how stupid this ride was. And they were not quiet. It kind of ruined it for me, I mean, I don't expect people to not talk on rides, but at least try to lower your voice, you know?

Once we got off, I still had my headache, and it almost seemed like it was getting worse instead of better. I told Brandon there was no way I could get a margarita, but I knew he wanted one so we went over to the Ditch, as MEK calls it, and he got a lovely blue margarita.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000080.jpg
Sigh

We had a dinner ADR in France around 5 and although it was still pretty early, we decided to go in that direction anyway.

While we were walking, I was really starting to feel terrible. My head was pounding, I was feeling nauseous, and I almost felt like I might pass out. I was trying to stay calm, but I knew it was the heat...I also knew that I had not eaten since our lunch at EoS and I wasn't drinking enough water. I thought maybe I should eat something and rest for a while, so we stopped in Italy. I found a spot to sit and Brandon went to the Italy booth to get me some ravioli, which I loved last year.

After eating, I felt a little better, but I just wanted to sit. So we sat and people watched, which was fun, but I was still so hot. I had to get out of the heat and into AC so as much as I didn't want to walk, we went to Japan and I sought refuge in Mitsukoshi...

Up next...will I finally start to feel better???

Ugh, I can SO relate! The heat kicks my butt, every time. Ben and I spent a good portion of an afternoon finding the coolest places in the World Showcase: a bathroom in Germany and a good powerful vent in a shop in Italy. Better than any attraction at that point!

Hope the rest of the day gets better!

Jen, I'm so glad that your room was ready at CSR and that you got the Casitas which you had requested. :goodvibes

I'm sorry you were getting sick from the heat, etc. I hope by the time you sit down for dinner that you are feeling much better.

By the way, great pics!

Oh Jen - Of course you feel like crap. You were sick for days before you left and you were probably a little dehydrated before you even left home. I really, really hope that headache goes away soon and you start to feel way better. Not a fun way to start your trip.

Nice picks and the tuna melt sounds yummy!!!!!!

I am so glad you had a great flight!!!

Also that your room was ready when you checked in- everytime we stayed at CSR our room was ready. I LOVE that resort :)

I am so sorry you had a massive headache/nausea!!!! The Florida heat is a killer :( I get that way when I don't eat enough and/or drink enough water.

I hope to read that you started feeling much better!!

Oh no! That sucks that you weren't feeling well. I hate that feeling. Wanting to get everything done and get moving, but then your body rebelling against you for some reason! But I would rather be miserable at WDW than anywhere else. :lmao:

Joining in. A little late with this comment but I always love seeing the little monorail at the airport. It always makes it seem more official that you are at Disney World and then even more official when you go to the Magical Express buses. I love it...haha

Isn't it always the case when you can't have a drink that is when you want it the most even if you aren't a big on having drinks...haha Love Soarin!!! One of our favorite rides.

I can totally relate to how you were feeling once in that intense Florida heat. Happens all the time especially around this time of year - going from colder weather from the north to crazy intense humid southern heat. Your body just does not adapt that quickly. I hope you started to feel better as the day went on. I would've still got the margerita. Would've numbed the pain temporarily ;)

Sorry to hear about your not feeling well your first day. We were suppose to originally go the same week as you and after reading so many accounts here on the DIS of how hot and miserable the heat and humidity made touring I am glad we changed our dates of our trip.
Hope you were feeling better by time for your dinner reservation in France.

I agree, when I walked into Mitsukoshi I didn't want to leave, it was so cool in there, and so hot and miserable outside! I never thought to check the bathrooms, though! :rotfl:

I kind of figured I was dehydrated, you would think after my migraine episode in May I would learn that when it's hot in Disney to drink water constantly, but nope! I was just too excited and didn't even think about it! :sad2: Well, I did, but it was too late when I realized it.

Thanks, and the tuna melt was awesome! :cool1:

Ugh I hate Florida heat. :headache: But as much as I hate it I love being in Disney World. I love the CSR rooms! They always look so pretty! Hoping your headache cleared up!

I hate any kind of heat, I just can't handle the change from cooler weather to summer weather, it's crazy!

The rooms at CSR are really nice, and I liked the double doors they have to block the bathroom area!

I am so glad you had a great flight!!!

Also that your room was ready when you checked in- everytime we stayed at CSR our room was ready. I LOVE that resort :)

Our flight was so nice, I even let myself doze off a little, which I NEVER do (and had a weird dream about Gumby...seriously...:sad2:) and I was so happy our room was ready at CSR! :thumbsup2

At least I know for next time to have plenty of water with me, and if I feel myself getting sick or nauseous, to slow down and get out of the heat for a little while!

Oh no! That sucks that you weren't feeling well. I hate that feeling. Wanting to get everything done and get moving, but then your body rebelling against you for some reason! But I would rather be miserable at WDW than anywhere else. :lmao:

LOL, I can handle stomach sickness or a cold in WDW, but headaches/migraines/heat exhaustion-forget it! :sad2: At least I know what to do for next time, though! :thumbsup2

Not sure if I've posted yet, but subscribing and enjoying it! So sorry you weren't feeling well. Hope it passed quickly.

Ugh, I hope your headache went away soon! That stinks to not be feeling well at Disney. I agree, that picture of the one little blue margarita is pretty sigh-worthy!

Thanks, I was trying to have a good time in Epcot, but every time I would think I was ok, my headache would get worse! Ugh!

LOL, I seriously love those margaritas from Mexico! It's weird, Disney is the only place I drink margaritas, but they're the best! :thumbsup2

Joining in. A little late with this comment but I always love seeing the little monorail at the airport. It always makes it seem more official that you are at Disney World and then even more official when you go to the Magical Express buses. I love it...haha

I love the little airport monorail, it's so cute! :) I've never taken ME, can you believe that! We always rent a car, but I feel like I'm kind of missing out on the whole ME experience!

I drink so rarely that I never really care if I can't have a drink, but it was our first night of vacation, it was the Food and Wine fest, and I LOVE those margaritas from Mexico, so I was really sad that I couldn't have one! Don't worry though, I made up for it during the rest of the trip!:woohoo:

LOL, I considered getting the margarita anyway, but I figured I'd feel worse. Brandon told me to just get one, but I was afraid I'd throw up or something, and I'd die from embarrassment if that happened to me in Disney World! :rotfl:

Aww, I'm sorry you weren't feeling well! I hope the Excedrin kicked in soon enough!

Thanks! Usually Excedrin works miracles for me, but sometimes...not so much! :confused3

Oh that totally stinks when you weren't feeling well! I get migraines, so I know how awful headaches can be. It really was VERY hot that day!

It was SO hot that day! I thought I was prepared for heat, but I guess not! I'm glad the whole week wasn't that hot, or I probably would have had heat stroke or something!

Sorry to hear you were not feeling well. I'm glad the food helped and hope you felt better soon.

Thanks! I wish we could have gone later in October, but our pin covered the first week, so we kind of had to go with that! :confused3 It actually wasn't bad the rest of the week, the first day was the worst! :scared1: It's strange, I hate the heat, but I still really want to go to Disney in the middle of summer someday, to take advantage of the late park hours! I'd probably just sleep all morning, go swimming and then go to the parks when the sun went down! :thumbsup2

OK so I'm all caught up and I'm replying to everything in one post lol
And my work computer blocks your pics so I'll have to wait until I get home to look at them. Although since you have an awesome new camera, I'm sure they're amazing!

I actually started before, but I deleted everything I wrote, it was just way too much detail about arriving at the airport!

It's funny because the trip to the airport SHOULD be uneventful...but we always have something go awry....

There is no better feeling than waking up and knowing you are going to Disney World that day! Even at 2:30 in the morning, after you have only slept a few hours.

Sooo true! I could sleep for half an hour and wake up like I just downed 4 Red Bulls! It's even easier for me though when I know that everything is packed and all we have to do is literally get dressed and walk out the door. If I have a lot to do before we leave, it makes me never want to get up because I know I'll be rushed and stressed!

We had to make a quick stop at 7-11 for gum and cough drops (I was getting over bronchitis and still had a horrible cough, and didn't want to annoy everyone on the plane!)

You know, I always complain when we get to Disney that I don't have any gum and I NEVER once thought to stop on the way to the airport. DUH!!

:rolleyes1)

I'm not a baseball person...I find it exceptionally boring...but my whole family (except my 90 year old grandfather who is also a Sox fan) is rabid Mets fans so on their behalf, I feel your pain..... I prefer football. :cheer2:

but Brandon had powder in his carry on that they thought was suspicious, I guess. They pulled him aside and ran all these tests. When they realized that it was, in fact, just powder, we were on our merry way!

:sad2: This is SOOO something that would happen to us. In 2007, my brother tried to get on a plane with his zippo lighter.... and in 2008, my BIL tried to get on a plane with a carry on full of kitchen knives.... He's a chef and he was actually going to WORK at WDW in the CP...they told him he had to bring all his own stuff but apparently he didn't think getting on a plane with 7 or so knives, was going to be an issue. :sad2:

I silently freaked out about the upcoming plane ride...
:rotfl:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

We arrived in Orlando about 20 minutes early, and hopped on the mini monorail. I LOVE this little monorail, just one of those little things that reminds me that I'm almost in Disney World!!!!

I love the "Mini-Rail" too! :cloud9: And YAY for arriving early!!

When we stepped off the monorail, I turned to Brandon and said "It smells like Disney World!" I love the way Florida smells, I don't know what it is, but if I could bottle that and bring that home with me, I'd be a happy girl. :lovestruc

It DOES have a smell! I agree! Funnily enough, when I first read this I thought "Yankee Candle should make a Florida scent!" And then I saw this:

I wish I could find a candle at Yankee Candle that smelled like Florida...maybe I should write to them and suggest that? You know every Disney freak in the country would buy one! :yay:

Great minds think alike! :thumbsup2

he picked a white Hyundai Sonata, which we both really loved.

I seriously think our next car will be a Hyundai. They have come a long way over the last several years and the Sonata is REALLY nice!

We loaded our bags into the car, cranked up the AC (it was unbelievably HOT that day already, and it was maybe 10 am!) and we were off to Disney World!

It was in the upper 90s when were there in 2009 and the low 90s last year... Crazy hot!

So we made a little detour to Downtown Disney. If we had to stop to eat, it had to be Earl of Sandwich. Mmmmm, Earl of Sandwich. I crave those amazing sandwiches through the entire year, so of course, it had to be the first Disney thing I ate! We got our sandwiches and I was in heaven...unfortunately, I don't have any pictures, I just wasn't in food picture taking mode yet, but I do know that I had my favorite, the tuna melt and iced tea, and Brandon had the Original and a soda.

Mmmmm the tuna melt

Brandon-"Can you please get out of your mood?"
Me-"I'm not in a mood, I'm hot, I'm tired, and I have a headache."
Brandon-"Well try not to let it ruin the rest of the day."
Me-"I won't, I'll be fine once I shower and sleep a little, and when we get to Epcot."

Although I denied it, Brandon was right, I was in a mood, but I didn't want to be in a bad mood in Disney, so I tried to push it aside and look forward to the day we had planned!

Yup...I'm pretty sure we've had that EXACT conversation at some point on all of our Disney trips. I think the excitement of being there is just too much to process all at once!

We drove over to CSR and went in to check in, and I was praying to the Disney Gods that our room was ready! Luckily, it was! And I got my request, to be in the Casitas section! I could not wait to see our room, and it did not disappoint, it was beautiful!

Yay! Another reason I LOVE CSR! Our room is ALWAYS ready when we get there.

Me-"You know what will make me feel a lot better? A margarita in Mexico. Let's go!"

OMG I love margaritas but the one I tried a couple years ago in the Mexico pavilion was SO STRONG I couldn't drink it! I'll have to give it another whirl on our next trip...

Once we finished up in Club Cool, I was on a mission. Anyone who read my PTR can guess where we were headed: My beloved Soarin'! Ohhh, how I love Soarin' so...I was counting on Soarin' to cure me of my headache and my overall blah feeling from the heat, but unfortunately, the stand by line was really long. So we got FP's for later and headed over to the World Showcase!

:lovestruc I love Soarin' too! But the standby line is always SO LONG! I always wondered how many "theaters" they have in there. It seems like they only have 2 running at any given time but I feel like there are more that they don't ever use...

Even though the Food and Wine festival didn't officially start until the next day, the booths were open!

HI-OOOOO!! :woohoo: popcorn::

Brandon wanted to check out the new Hawaii booth and decided to get the pork slider

I heard a LOT of good things about this...did he like it?? All Ears said it was one of the top rated food items so far...

I'm not a big drinker, but I was cursing my headache at that point, because his beer just looked so cold and yummy and I really wanted one. But I figured since it just wasn't going away, my best bet was to take some more Excedrin and chug some water. Alcohol would definitely not be helping the situation. :sad2:

I don't know if you like these or not...but for some reason, strawberry-banana smoothies always help me feel better! I don't know if it's the fruit or that it's cold, but headaches and nausea are always cured when I have one (or 2) of those!

Wow, a wait? We always end up sharing a boat with someone (which is fine) but we NEVER wait. Interesting. And how rude of those women! If the REAL Mexico was better then abandon ship now and go back there. Let me enjoy the ride!

Ugh I feel so bad for you...I totally know what you were feeling! I hope you started to feel better!

Sorry to hear that you weren't feeling well! It was very hot that day. Hope you managed to feel better and enjoy yourself quickly!

Thanks, I just don't do well with the heat! :) You would think I would be prepared by now, but I guess I wasn't expecting it to be as hot as it was!

Oh no! I hate that you weren't feeling well. That is such an awful feeling at Disney because you just want to enjoy every single minute that you have there! I really hope being in the AC makes you feel better!

LOL, I hate that I wasn't feeling well either! I was waiting for this day for almost a year, and it almost got totally ruined!

Checking in! I'm sorry I'm so late! I am so behind! I'll catch up though! I'm so excited to hear about your trip! Not going this year was SO hard for me! I sound like a spoiled brat but I don't care! :rotfl2: I really missed it!

Yay, glad you're finally here! :cool1:

I can't even imagine not going to Disney for a year...seriously, I might have a nervous breakdown or something!

I read all of your comments! It will take me a month to reply to each one, but I can't believe your BIL thought he could bring a whole set of knives on a plane with no problem! That's so funny! :rotfl: I wonder how much weird stuff the TSA people see when they're going through bags! And I SO wish they made a Florida Yankee Candle!! :thumbsup2

Yum, Earl of Sandwich! Love that place!

Ugh, that stinks you had a headache. That happens to me sometimes too. Maybe it's just the change in weather. :confused3 Whatever it is, it's not fun!

That's cool the booths were open for the F&WF!

There an EoS in New York City now, I'm so tempted to go into the city and get a sandwich and come home! I LOVE that place!

I definitely think the weather change causes me to get headaches whenever I go to FL, it seems to always happen the first night, but this time was especially horrible! :scared1: Ugh! Really hope that doesn't happen again!

I was so happy the booths were open, but of course, me feeling the way I did, I didn't get to enjoy any of it really! :confused3

I Want to go Hoooome!!!

Thursday, 9/29

So we left off with us heading to Mitsukoshi so I could just hang out in the AC for a while. I just walked around slowly and looked at everything...I've been in there before, but this is the first time I really noticed what a cool little store it is! I love all of the Hello Kitty stuff that they have!

We walked by Pick a Pearl and I stopped to watch for a little while, and Brandon asked me what they were doing (I guess he's never noticed this before) and I told him what it was.

Brandon-"What do they do with the oysters when they're done, do they let people eat them?"

Me-"You can't eat those oysters, that's gross."

Brandon-"Yes you can, they should just let people eat them, they're wasting so many good oysters!"

He then watched an oyster get picked, and the girl basically rip apart the oyster inside to get to the pearl.

Brandon-"Oh, that's why they don't let people eat them, they destroy them."

He was pretty upset by this, he loves raw oysters...I think it's kinda gross and I'm glad they don't let people just walk around and slurp oysters all over that store, but he thinks it would be a good idea! :rotfl:

We continued walking to the back of the store, and it started to smell like incense, which was killing my head. I told Brandon if he wanted to go back there he could, but I had to get away from that area. Since my headache was now pretty much a full blown migraine, every little thing was aggravating it.

We went back to the front of the store and saw out the door that the Japanese drummers were out! I have been wanting to see them since, well, forever! Brandon knew this, so he tried to get me to go outside to watch, but they were SO loud, it was actually painful! So again, I told him he could watch if he wanted, but I was going to walk over to France and just find somewhere to sit, maybe check in for our ADR, even though it was still a little early, and he actually agreed with me that those drummers were way too loud! So we were off to France!

Once we arrived in France, we checked in at Les Chef's de France, not expecting to get seated right away since we were maybe 20 minutes early, but we did! I was so happy to be sitting in such a beautiful restaurant, with AC blasting!

I didn't know Remy was out for dinner, but he was, so I was excited to see him, since I finally watched Ratatouille a few days before our trip!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000082.jpg

He was so cute, he definitely cheered me up when he stopped by our table!

We both ordered off of the 3 course menu, which I don't have any pictures of, since I felt so awful, I couldn't even be bothered. But Brandon got the lobster bisque, the macaroni and cheese, and the chocolate mousse cake and I had the french onion soup, which was AMAZING, the mac and cheese, and the creme brulee!

Everything was really good, I really liked Les Chef's, but I'd like to try it some other time without the migraine, I think I would have enjoyed it a little more!

Once we were finished, we walked around England for a little while

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000083.jpg

and made our way out of the World Showcase.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000085.jpg

Once we reached Future World, Brandon asked me what I wanted to do.

Me-"Go on Soarin' and hope it cures me!"

So that's what we did, used our Soarin FP's and went on my favorite ride in Epcot! As horrible as I felt at that time, I still enjoyed Soarin! It didn't exactly cure my migraine, but it distracted me enough to not focus on it for a few minutes at least!

When we went back outside, it was getting dark, and the sky looked so beautiful, I had to take some pictures:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000093.jpg

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000095.jpg
I love that one, with the monorail racing by!

We didn't really have a plan for what to do next, so we went to Mousegear for a little while. That's when my migraine really started to defeat me.

Me-"I really hate to say this, because you know how obsessed I am with Illuminations, but I think we might have to skip it tonight, I feel awful."

Brandon-"Fine with me, I'm tired anyway"

Sadly, we started the walk to the exit of Epcot and back to our car. I felt so awful, but I hated missing Illuminations, I felt like I was betraying Epcot and Disney World or something.

Epcot looked so lovely and peaceful, so the opposite of how I felt.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000096.jpg

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000099.jpg

In one last pathetic attempt to salvage our first Disney night, I asked Brandon if he wanted to go on Spaceship Earth really quickly, and he said ok...but then I took it back and we just left. I felt so awful, I couldn't even deal with the idea of sitting on SE for 5 minutes.

We went back to CSR and I was absolutely miserable. I did manage to take one picture, because I thought it looked really pretty at night:

and that's it. I was ready to give up. Once we were in the room I changed and crawled under the covers. My head hurt SO bad, I felt so nauseous, and there was nothing I could do to make myself feel better. I asked Brandon to get me some Advil from the CSR store, since sometimes that works when Excedrin doesn't, so he went to do that, and get a few other things.

When he came back, he gave me some Powerade and a Minnie's bake shop cookie...but no Advil. That's the one thing he forgot! That's when I started crying. I couldn't help it, I was just so done. Being the wonderful husband he is, even though he was tired and worn out, he went back and got me my Advil. :lovestruc I quickly took 2 of them and drank some Powerade, and started crying again. Then I said something I don't think I have ever said in Disney World in my entire life.

Me-"I want to go hooooome."

Brandon-"No you don't, you're in Disney World and you have a headache, you will be fine tomorrow."

Me-"What if I'm not? I want to go hoooooome."

Yes, I might have been a bit whiney and dramatic, but that's seriously how I felt. I had no hope for the next day, I thought this migraine would last through the night and I'd be miserable again all day.

I finally fell asleep somehow and woke up around 8 and...my migraine was gone!!!! :dance3: I was SO happy that I felt normal again! :woohoo: I was really looking forward to checking into the Wilderness Lodge, and then later, going to my first Halloween party! It was going to be a great day!

Up next...I'm finally home!

Oh my god, I soooo feel your pain! Migraines are the absolute worst and even though you can try to find things to distract you from it for a while, they always stick with you until you go to sleep. Seriously, that's the ONLY cure for me. Even if it's like 7pm, if my migraine is bad enough, I try to go to sleep and I just tell myself, "If I can just fall asleep, I'll be okay!" When you have a migraine that bad, it's like you can't even remember what it's like to feel normal. And to have one like that in WDW is the worst! I get them all the time but luckily, never in WDW. BTW, forgetting the one thing you asked for is sooooo something Tom would do!

Well, Jen, all I can say is I know exactly how you felt because I had that wicked migraine in May. I get headaches, but not migraines, so I can relate to the "I want to go home" feeling. It stinks. You did a heck of a lot more than I was capable of doing. So kudos to you. You certainly did your best!

Despite feeling like crap, I think you managed to get some nice pictures, especially the night time ones of the ski and the monorail and spaceship earth.

So glad you woke up feeling better.

I hate migraines. I used to get them all the time. I couldn't move and the only thing that would get rid of them was sleep. Since I had my daughter though I haven't gotten any. It cured me...haha What a way to start your vacation. I can only imagine how you felt. Love the pictures you took.

Sorry you had to deal with that horrible migraine! Last year, during F&W, I had that happen a couple times (I think related to a spot cleaner being used in our room). This year, I had a couple minor ones (one while at Earl of Sandwich) and I think they were related to dehydration. Sleeping usually cures them, though, so I'm glad that worked for you! I hate that feeling of being at WDW, but not being able to really enjoy anything!

CSR looks really pretty, though! And that's cool that F&W was open early! Did Brandon like the Hawaii pork slider? That was one of our favorites. I'm glad you got to see Remy at dinner! Sorry you had to cut your night short, but so glad you felt normal again in the morning!

UGH, I suffer from migraines, too... NO FUN. Sorry your first day was hindered by one.

So glad you got to see Remy! We loved our lunch at Les Chefs... I'd really like to go back, but not sure I can convince my kids to try it (even with the bonus of seeing Remy).

And talking about annoying people on rides... while on POTC, the lady in front of us kept taking pictures throughout the entire ride. WITH THE FLASH ON. I was *thisclose* to grabbing her camera and tossing it out of the boat!

Joining in. I totally understand how you felt. Our honeymoon trip was in early October and the average temp was 95 the whole time. The heat was killer, we quickly changed our touring to RD at the park, afternoon swim and park again after dinner. Glad to hear your headache was gone the next morning.

I found you!

How funny that you skipped out on Illuminations on the 29th... so did we! I had been up since 3:30 and I was just too tired. So far our park days are eerily similar... too bad we weren't looking for one another!

Hi, Jen! I'm here!!! I'm sorry I'm so late. I'm excited to hear all about your trip.

I agree - I LOVE the way Florida smells. Why can't the whole world smell like Florida?

I'm sorry about your migraine. Feeling lousy at Disney is no fun, especially when you have to miss Illuminations. :sad1: I definitely know the 'I want to go home' feeling. I've had a few awful panic attacks at WDW that left me in tears begging my parents to take me home. It's not fun. I'm glad you felt better the next morning though. I can't wait to hear all about the Wilderness Lodge!

Ughhh, I hate migraines! I keep saying I'm going to go to a dr. and get prescription migraine medicine, but I hate the thought of going through all the testing. Sleep is usually the only thing that works for me too, sometimes, if I'm lucky and catch it early enough, I can take Excedrin Migraine and drink some Coke or coffee and it might go away, but usually, once I have one, it's there for the day. :sad1:

LOL, I couldn't believe Brandon forgot my Advil! And when he went back to the store to get it, he said they didn't even have any out, so he had to ask and luckily they had some in the back!

Well, Jen, all I can say is I know exactly how you felt because I had that wicked migraine in May. I get headaches, but not migraines, so I can relate to the "I want to go home" feeling. It stinks. I remember your migraine from your May TR, and thinking "that's something that would happen to me". Actually, this is the 2nd time our first night has kinda been ruined a little by me having a migraine, same thing happened on our Disneymoon. I just have to remember to drink a ton of water on the travel day, I think I just forget because I'm so excited!

Thanks, I like some of the pictures we got that day! Notice there are none of me? I didn't get one picture of myself that day because I felt so awful I didn't even want to bother!

Poor Brandon, I felt so bad making him go back to get me Advil, but I really needed it! And at least he got out of the room for a little while and didn't have to listen to my whining about wanting to go home! :rotfl:

I feel so bad for you that your migrane didn't go away! What a bummer of a start to your vacation :sad2:

I have the feeling it'll improve though...:goodvibes

It was a pretty awful start to our trip...there were a few good points, but I'd say that's probably the worst day in Disney I've ever had. Things definitely did improve!

I hate migraines. I used to get them all the time. I couldn't move and the only thing that would get rid of them was sleep. Since I had my daughter though I haven't gotten any. It cured me...haha What a way to start your vacation. I can only imagine how you felt. Love the pictures you took.

When I have a migraine that bad, all I want to do is lay in a dark room, so it was really hard being in Disney and trying to have fun and put it aside! I'm so glad you don't get them anymore...maybe when I have a child someday I'll be cured too! :cool1: My mom used to get them really bad when I was little and now, it's rare for her to even get a headache, so maybe you just have to grow out of them or something!

Thanks! Ugh, yeah, I can relate to cleaning supplies giving you a migraine, I've had that happen a few times too! :goodvibes It seems like most of the time, migraines are caused by being dehydrated, so I really just have to drink lots of water!

CSR was pretty, but it was kind of ruined for me in the end because of how terrible I felt. :( When I woke up, I was just so ready to get out of there!

Brandon did like the pork slider! I wish I got to try it, but for some reason, we never went back to the Hawaii booth!

Ugh migraines are awful, aren't they? I'm so glad that you woke up headache-less the next day!! Hopefully you were able to enjoy the rest of your vacation pain-free!

I'm glad I woke up without a headache too, I was SO afraid it would carry over to the next day! :scared1: Thankfully, that was the only migraine of the trip! I don't think I could have handled another night like that!

Ugh, I'm sorry you get migraines too, I hope you never get one in Disney!

I really liked Chef's, I definitely want to go back, migraine free, of course! I hope your kids agree to try it, it seemed pretty kid friendly!

OMG, the flash picture taking on rides was SO awful on this trip! On Spaceship earth, it was seriously out of control, I've never noticed it being this bad!

Joining in. I totally understand how you felt. Our honeymoon trip was in early October and the average temp was 95 the whole time. The heat was killer, we quickly changed our touring to RD at the park, afternoon swim and park again after dinner. Glad to hear your headache was gone the next morning.

:welcome: Thanks for joining! Wow, I can't imagine it being 95 for the whole trip! I honestly don't know how people go during the summer! We usually do the same kind of touring, go early in the morning, take an afternoon break, and then back to the parks at night. I'd never be able to go all day and not take a break, Disney World is exhausting!

Jen, I'm so sorry that your headache proceeded through the night and that you didn't get to enjoy Illuminations. But so happy that you woke up the next morning and felt better to go check in at WL and go to your first MNSSHP event.

Aw--nothing worse than being sick at Disney! I was so glad to get to the part where you woke feeling better :)

Thanks, it's terrible not feeling well at Disney! I'm glad it was only one night that I had to deal with it! :cool1:

Ugh, I know all about stomach issues too, trust me! Luckily, I'm never really bothered by that in Disney, it's usually headaches! But you never want anything to be bothering you in Disney, you always want to feel your best, so when something does, it's so annoying! :sad2:

LOL, I didn't put a lot of pics on FB, I have like 900 or something so don't worry, you won't see too much if you look at them!

Hi, Jen! I'm here!!! I'm sorry I'm so late. I'm excited to hear all about your trip.

Kara!! So glad you're here! :yay:

I wonder if people who live in Florida realize how great it smells there? So not fair. I mean, CT smells nice now because it's the Fall, but it's still nothing compared to the tropical wonderfulness of Florida!

Thanks, I was so upset about missing Illuminations, I mean, I really felt like I was committing a crime or something! :rotfl: I can't imagine having a panic attack in Disney, that has to be awful! :goodvibes I hate feeling like I want to go home when I'm in Disney, you look forward to your trip for months, and then one little thing can instantly make you want to leave!

I was SO happy to get to the WL, I love that resort so much, I really wish I could live there! :goodvibes

So sorry about your migraine :( It was pretty hot those days!!!

Glad to see you like Chefs :) We love eating there as well!!!

I'm glad your migraine left and you will be checking into your home!!!

Thanks! I was so hot the first few days I was there! And now, 2 weeks later, it's cooling off! Ughh!! This is the time I really wanted to go, but our pin didn't cover this whole week, so I had to do the beginning of October! :confused3

I know what you mean about feeling like you are "betraying" Disney by not taking advantage of every last thing. If we ever head out early without seeing the fireworks, I feel the same way!

There actually weren't too many people doing pick a pearl that day, I was surprised...I considered doing it for about 10 seconds, but then I realized it was probably a bad idea, considering how I felt.

Remy was so cute, I love how he squeaked! And Soarin' is always fun, even when you feel miserable!

Les Chef's is so good, you should definitely give it a try sometime! I really like the 3 course menu they offer!

CSR is a very pretty resort, I'm glad I got to try it out for a night!

Back from my trip and all caught up. I got to hear your "one more Waffle!", but what beat it for me was the Hops and Barley booth "one Lobster Roll... Rollin'!":sad2:

Welcome back! I'm glad they are still doing the waffle thing in Belgium! I didn't hear the Lobster one though, that's funny! Are you doing a TR for your trip?

I feel soooo bad for you! Our first day was also not so great-- I used to get horrible migraines from dehydration. They're the absolute worst! I applaud you for soldiering through dinner-- I just would have wanted to lay in my hotel room and cry!

I think the next time we do a long trip like this, we aren't going to do a really early flight, and we might not do a park that day either. It seems like I might do better if I had a day to adjust to being on vacation! Although, I say that now, but who knows what will happen next time!

I really wanted to give up and go back to the hotel room, but I kept hoping that maybe I'd feel better. No such luck. :sad2: I'm just glad sleeping helped, because it was really, really awful!

It was pretty hard to go through Epcot feeling the way I did, but I tried to make the best of it! There's no way I could have done Illuminations though, it would have been way too loud!

I've had migraines before and believe me I know you how you feel when you just want to lie in a cold dark room and not move..at..all. At least you pulled through and got to see some of your beloved Epcot on the first day. And it really is great that your migraine was gone by the morning! :woohoo:

Ugh, migraines are so awful, when you get to that point of just wanting to lay there and not move, it's just so miserable, I always just want it to hurry up and be the next day so I can feel better! I'm glad we got to see Epcot, even though I wasn't feeling great, there were some good points to the day at least! :)

I've recently experienced my first migraine, who knew that they were a common occurance during pregnancy? Anyhoo, I totally feel your pain. I think you were awfully brave to even attempt to go to a park. Even though I love Disney so much I don't think that I would have made it with the migraines I have had the last few weeks. *Shudder*

I'm so glad you woke up without a headache!

Ugh, I'm sorry that you're getting migraines now that you're pregnant, I've heard that's pretty common! I think it has to do with your blood pressure? That makes me nervous about me ever getting pregnant...I get them so bad already, I feel like they will be even worse if I'm pregnant! And I wouldn't be able to take any pain medication, or drink caffeine, I'd just have to suffer through it!

It's pretty hard doing Disney with a migraine, I really hope that's the last time I have to! And I hope you never experience it! :goodvibes

Haha, I think I'll be like you were and panic about the plane. The more reasonable fears will also be combined with the wackado ones like, "What happens if we get pulled down by an island, and we got stuck and have to deal with the smoke monster?"

Oh man, I'm going to have to adjust to the heat of May. I know it's not as bad as the summer months, but I'm so used to February now! Even April is cooler, which is when I go with my family. I might be complaining on my Disneymoon, haha.

Boo, the heat REALLY got to you! Aghhh, that stinks that you had to feel sick from the heat!

Haha, Brandon's so funny about eating the oysters. I always assumed that if the oyster was old enough for a pearl to grow inside of it, it was way past the edible stage.

YAY FOR THE MIGRAINE BEING GONE THE NEXT MORNING!

Your TR is great, can't wait for more updates, I love Disneymoon TR's!:thumbsup2

Thanks! I decided to go ahead and read your Disneymoon TR, only to realize that I had already read it last year. But I was just a lurker back then. It was a great read. :cutie:

Alright, doing some catch-up here...

YAY! You're finally in Disney! I'm sorry to hear about the whole climate change situation. I can see how it could be a big shock and put a lot of stress on a body who was adjusted to a much cooler climate, but hey you got to go to Earl of Sandwich :thumbsup2 I totally need to put that on my list. (: Though, it must've been awful waiting around for Brandon to get a bathing suit, I think your whole mood was inevitable, so don't beat yourself up for that, you weren't feeling good, all it is.

Oh, the CSR rooms are gorgeous! Glad to hear you got your room request. Casitas seems to be very popular, I got to take note of that. Happy to hear the nap and everything helped with your mood, so you could be ready for EPCOT, WOOT! :teeth:

Love Spaceship Earth and that beautiful fountain... if only I could see those things everyday. My life would be complete :goodvibes I can't believe Brandon didn't make a face when trying Beverly, but I haven't tried it, so I wonder if I'll like it or hate it like everybody else in the world lol Big :thumbsup2 to the delectable Disney chocolates, YUM!

Sorry you didn't get to go on Soarin' right away, but I guess waiting in a long line would've done much worse to your head. Going to the F&WF booths was definitely a better choice and I think the no alcohol decision was probably good in the long run ::yes::

Wow! I can't believe there was an ACTUAL wait for the Gran Fiesta Tour... I'm in shock right now. If you took a picture of my face right now, that photo would be priceless. But I can't believe those ladies on the ride. Talk about ruining the Disney fun! Sheesh! We know it's obviously not Mexico, it's DISNEY! Two different things, very different, so shut up! I probably would've add a few more colorful words there, but I like to keep nicer on here :thumbsup2

That's awesome to hear the Ravioli and water helped pick you back up. It's no fun being sick, ESPECIALLY in Disney. Disney food was definitely the only remedy there... I definitely need to try the Italian raviolis if I go to WDW for F&WF someday. Lots of fun! :hyper:

Yay, I'm caught up now, PARTY! :woohoo:

Good to hear your migraine was maintained now. You definitely were making all the right choices now. The decision to get away from those drummers was another good one. @ your husband's comment about the Pick A Pearl oysters. I've never had oysters before... they sound really good... haha :D

Les Chefs de France sounds really good and you get to meet Remy! Oh, that would be so awesome. So much for Character Meals, how about where the character is the chef (YES!) The menu sounds great too. Lobster Bisque and French Onion Soup... mmmmm... I want some of that!

Great to hear you got to go on Soarin'! That's definitely something you can't miss on your first day at EPCOT even if you are not feeling good. And the sky was so pretty out that night! It looked like it was purposely that way... oh so pretty :goodvibes With the monorail racing by... even prettier. Love it!

Awwww... I'm sorry you didn't get to see IllumiNations and get to go on Spaceship Earth :( Well, you do have a whole week ahead of you and you needed the rest. :thumbsup2 So nice of your husband to go back to the CSR gift shop again to get you your Advil :D I can't believe you said you wanted to go home :scared1: It must've been a really bad Migraine, wow! Well, at least it was better the next day :)

I think it does have to do with your blood pressure but I'm not sure. I am able to take tylenol and such and they did give me a safe prescription that didn't do much but luckily I haven't had one in awhile. The first one knocked me down for a bit thought. UGH.

Haha, I never have weird fears like that on planes, but maybe now that you mentioned it, next time I will! I hope not! :scared1:

We went in May last year and there were a few days that were almost as hot as the summer, then it cooled off a little, it was pretty brutal. Actually, the same thing happened, I got a migraine the first night and I figured I'd have it the next day. I don't remember it being as bad as this past one, though!

Oysters are old when they have pearls? I had no idea! I know nothing about them, except that they're gross! I hate watching people eat them, ugh! :rotfl:

Yay, so happy my stupid migraine was gone!!!

The CSR rooms are really beautiful, I kind of wish we had more time to walk around the resort, which is what I was originally planning to do, before my migraine took over and ruined my night! :confused3

I'd give anything to be able to see SE everyday! I listen to the Epcot entrance music almost everyday so I guess that will have to do until I can move to FL and become a CM at Epcot!

I was pretty shocked there was a wait for Gran Fiesta too! It was only maybe 5 minutes, but still, there is never a line there! Ugh, those women were so obnoxious. I try to tune obnoxious people out in Disney, but they were right behind us, so it was hard!

The Italy booth is one of my favorites at F&W, the ravioli is soooo good!:thumbsup2

Yay glad you're caught up!

Chef's was so good, and I loved seeing Remy! I'm so happy I watched Ratatouille before we went to Disney, otherwise, I'd have no idea who he was! :rotfl:

There's no way I can be in Epcot on my first night and NOT go on Soarin, it's never going to happen! It's just so much fun, and it was nice being distracted from being in horrible pain for a few minutes! :)

It was so sad, walking out of Epcot, and not seeing Illuminations, but we made up for it during the week! I can't believe I said I wanted to go home either, but yes, it was a horrible, horrible migraine! Luckily I felt much better when I woke up, and was ready to go! :thumbsup2

I think it does have to do with your blood pressure but I'm not sure. I am able to take tylenol and such and they did give me a safe prescription that didn't do much but luckily I haven't had one in awhile. The first one knocked me down for a bit thought. UGH.

I'm glad you haven't had a migraine for a while, hopefully you won't get them anymore! I don't think I'd even bother with Tylenol, it does nothing for me with a regular headache, never mind a migraine! :sad2:

I really can't handle weather changes like that, it was in the 60's when we left CT, and in the 90's when we got to Orlando! I'm so glad I felt better the next day, it's awful feeling miserable in Disney! :)

Up next...I'm finally home!

Hi! Just joining in for a fellow Oct. TR! I felt so bad for you in these first few installments, what a crummy way to start a Disney trip!

But I was VERY happy to see the blue skies start to peek through on Day 2! Can't wait to hear about you WL check-in and your trip to MNSSHP!

Welcome Home!

Friday, 9/30

When we left off, I had just woken up at CSR, migraine free! I was ready to get going, as nice as CSR was, I kind of wanted to get out of there, leave the horrible night I had behind me, but it was so early...I decided to let Brandon sleep for a little while longer while I packed and watched some Stacy!

Finally I woke him up and told him we should probably check out and get to the Wilderness Lodge.

"Fine with me, this place sucks."

Apparently, Brandon didn't like CSR at all, because the 2 times he had to leave the room the night before, he got really lost on the way back! That, and he said it doesn't feel like a Disney resort, which I actually kind of agree with. Then again, I don't think I got a good feel for it, considering we were only there for one night, and I felt awful!

Anyway, we stopped at Panchito's after checking out, and Brandon bought 2 shirts. I didn't take pictures of them, but one was a green Disney World shirt and one was the monorail shirt! I've been begging him to buy that for a while, and he finally did! He also bought me some adorable Chip and Dale earrings, which I wore for most of the trip!

Finally, we were on our way to the Magic Kingdom resort area! I love staying by MK, I love feeling like I'm in the middle of everything. I can't imagine how wonderful it must be to stay at the Poly or the Grand Floridian!

Soon we were at the Magic Kingdom gate!!!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000107.jpg
Yay!!!

It was tempting to just go directly to the MK, but we stayed to the right, and turned down Timberline Drive, where I saw this adorable sign:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000108.jpg

I tried to get a picture of the arch that you drive under, but there was a car behind us, so we couldn't really slow down that much. I think I got one later in the week, though.

We stopped at security, showed our ID's, got our parking pass for the week, and were welcomed home by the guard!

Me-"Yay, he said it!"

Brandon-"Said what?"

Me-"Welcome home, I love when they say that."

Brandon-"Don't they always say that?"

Me-"Nope. Only here."

I know they must say it at other resorts, but the first time I ever heard it was when we stayed at WL in 2009, so to me, it's the only place they say it!

We parked and quickly made our way up the stairs

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000111.jpg

and into the lobby!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000119.jpg

I love walking into the Wilderness Lodge! It's strange to me that I have such a connection to this resort, I'm not especially outdoorsy, but I just love it! I love the music that is always playing, I love how it smells in there (kind of a mix of Florida and something else, something wilderness-y), I love the lobby. When I'm there, I really feel like it's my Disney home. I want to try other resorts, but I really wonder if I will feel this way about any of them.

Anyway, we got in the online check in line and got all checked in, but our room wasn't ready. I wasn't really expecting it to be, since it was still kind of early, so the CM said we would get a text when our room was ready, and we remembered we still hadn't eaten breakfast! We went to Roaring Forks and we both had the breakfast croissants, which are so good!

Once we were finished, we wandered around the lobby for a little while

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000115.jpg

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000121.jpg

and then went outside to figure out what to do next.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000122.jpg

We knew a park was out, because we were going to the Halloween Party that night and I wanted to be in the Magic Kingdom by 4, so we decided to hop on the boat to the Contemporary and go for a ride on the monorail!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000126.jpg
Walkway to the boats...looks like an Ewok Village!

Once we got to the Contemporary, we walked around the shops for a little while, but quickly got bored and got on the monorail.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000129.jpg
Brandon took one of me on the monorail, but it's awful, sorry!

We thought we should skip the Poly since we would be there later in the week and go to the Grand Floridian! I have this fascination with the GF, I've been kind of in awe by it ever since I saw it on one of our family trips to Disney. To me, it's the deluxe Disney resort.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000137.jpg

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000139.jpg

We walked around, went in every shop we could find, (even Basin, which I was afraid to go in the last time I visited the GF) and went down a staircase and passed Princess Aurora, who was going upstairs and said to us "beautiful day outside, isn't it?" That made me love the GF even more-princesses just roam freely! Once that happened, I turned to Brandon and said "I don't care if we have to save for years, we are staying here someday."

We had a magical time at the Grand Floridian, but it was getting late and we still hadn't received a text from WL about our room, so we decided to go back and check at the desk. It's a good thing we did, because our room was ready, but something wasn't working in their system properly, so people were not getting texts when the rooms were ready!

We got our luggage and went up to our room, which was on the 4th floor, and for some strange reason, I didn't take pictures of the room! I don't know what was wrong with me the first couple days, not taking pictures of the most important things, but I did take a picture of the view from our room:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/Day%203/P1000339.jpg

Beautiful, isn't it? Unfortunately, we didn't have a lot of time to admire it, because we needed to take a quick nap and then get ready for our first Halloween party!! :yay:

Up next...our first MNSSHP...a sold out MNSSHP! :scared1:

I love hearing the Welcome Home too! Only certain resorts do it. It's a DVC thing. :lovestruc

Great pictures of the resort! I admit, I've only stayed at WL once. But I want to go back for sure.

I want to stay at the GF one day too. I blame the Tanners for drilling that idea into my head.

John has decided he is done with Disney. He also pointed out that most women were with other women and I should just go to Disney with you b/c obviously we ware both crazy people and will only have fun with other crazy Disney people. I am ready for a Disney break since I am broke after our last two trips. I am thinking of trying to get there in Nov. in 3 years and staying at GF. We'll see though. I don't think I could go to Disney with you and not bring Caitin. After the issues we had with her on the cruise it will be years before I take her on another vacation.:headache:

I am glad to hear WL is getting refurb. I never liked the rooms much, but did end up liking the resort towards the end of our stay. I would like to give it another shot.

BTW, your pictures of the WL make me SOOO happy I'm saying there in Feb! I LOVE that place and can't wait to be back there. :goodvibes

I heard about the MNSSHP being sold out that night. It was sure crowded wasn't it?! It was a cast member discount night. Oh well!

GF was awesome to stay at. I couldn't believe it when we got the phone call to stay there last year. Greg still jokes that we should book at CSR again so we can get upgraded for free again. Talk about pixie dust!

I've never visited the Wilderness Lodge. :scared1: There's one in Wisconsin Dells which is just a few hour drive from us so for some reason I don't associate WDW with the Wilderness Lodge. Weird, right?

I can't wait to read about MNSSHP! I think we may have passed by you guys down main street. (The only time I thought I saw you by the way.)

Jen, great update. I'm glad you were able to go "home." I love when they do that too (they do that for us every visit to the CSR, they did it at AKL and OKW...it just sends gooosebumps up your arms.

Sorry Brandon didn't like CSR. Truthfully, I don't think any of the resorts have a "true" Disney feel unless it is the values with all the big icons, etc.

Glad you were able to get in your room and take a nap for the MNSSHP; ours was very crowded too (we won't be doing it again).

I remember when that happened and how excited you were. I would have had to ask to stay at CSR or go to another deluxe because my DH won't even go in the GF to eat. :lmao::lmao:

I'm with you on the WL. I don't think it is weird. I think we see certain places that remind us of other places near home and we don't want to be anywhere near it on vacation (I feel that way about the WL and the BLT -- the BLT because I work in Downtown Chicago and it looks like an office building to me).

When I stay at Coronado Springs in December I sure hope I like it more than your DH... and then I'll be sure to let you know so you can let him know... because you know, men CAN'T be right, right? ;) :lmao:

If it helps, my DH LOVES the CSR. :)

I agree about the Grand Floridian. It really is the ultimate Deluxe resort.

WL looks so nice, and it's nice that you guys have a resort that feels like home. I'm still waiting to find mine.
I can see why CSR can get confusing, some places are so big and all the buildings look the same at night!

I bet your Chip and Dale earrings were really cute, and it's great you got a lot of use out of them at the parks.

I know what you mean about Wilderness Lodge, it just feels so right to be staying there. Even when we visit there, I get this all over calm feeling. I really want to stay there next year on our trip.

I agree with you about GF being "the" deluxe resort, I think for me it's ever since the Full House family stayed there on their Disney trip. :lmao:

Every single time I sign up for a text when my room is ready it NEVER works. Maybe it's just me.

Aw I just love WL! :lovestruc If we were to ever become DVC members I would want that to be my home resort. Your view looks to be on the opposite side of our view from Memorial Day week. Hope it was quiet enough for you.

LOL, they say "Welcome Home" at all of the DVC resorts. ;)

Great pictures of the Wilderness Lodge. I love it there. Such a neat resort and the theming is amazing. You don't even feel like you're in Florida!

Sorry you had such a dreadful migraine on your first day, nothing worse than a migraine, esp at Disney :(

Loving your photos of the WL, it is a beautiful looking resort :)

Looking forward to reading about the party :teeth:

So happy to hear you woke up feeling good :cool1:

WL is beautiful!! I stayed there 2 times when I was younger when my dad took me to WDW and loved it even as a kid I thought it was amazing!!

I am eager to hear how your MNSSHP experience was, I saw a lot of complaints on the boards, but our party experience was great so I am hoping it was for you too :goodvibes

So sorry you started your trip off feeling so badly. I am glad you got a good night's sleep and woke up feeling better.

I feel the same you do about being "home" at WL but at the Boardwalk for me. It just makes feel so happy walking through those doors:goodvibes

Can't wait to hear about your first MNSSHP! After all the posts about bad experiences, I was really nervous about the night we attended, but it was great, even with the "small" tropical depression that crossed over FL the week we there!:scared1:

:welcome: Thanks for joining! You went in October too? It's definitely a fun time to go, are you doing a TR?

I was there in October (13-17, stayed at CR). I just started my TR (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2823214), come on over if you have a chance!

I was happy to read that you made a miraculous recovery in time to move to your favorite resort! WL looks beautiful. We originally were supposed to stay there on this last trip, but grabbed the chance to move to CR on the AP discount. One day I'll get to see how pretty WL is for myself, but for now I'll live vicariously through all you WL lovers. :lmao:

I also love the GF! The only time I have been inside is when we ate at 1900PF in May 2010, and I totally fell in love. I will stay there someday too!

Your view from WL is awesome.

Can't wait to hear about the sold out MNSSHP. We went two days later!

It's always so nice going "home" isn't it? Makes me all warm and fuzzy inside! I love the view from your room. It looks so peaceful! I can't wait to hear about the party! I hope it's not too crowded!

It was nice returning to the WL, I didn't want to repeat a resort so quickly, but we both love it so much, it really does feel like home! :thumbsup2 The view from the room was beautiful, but during the day, definitely NOT peaceful! :scared1:

I love hearing the Welcome Home too! Only certain resorts do it. It's a DVC thing. :lovestruc

It's one of my favorite parts.

Great pictures of the resort! I admit, I've only stayed at WL once. But I want to go back for sure.

LOL, yeah, I figured it was a DVC thing, although I'm not sure I remember them saying it when we stayed at the Beach Club!

WL is beautiful, I wonder once I have tried all the resorts if it will still be my favorite! :)

Haha, yeah, I thought about Full House while we were in the GF too, it's so nice in there.

Haha, that's funny, I guess we both are crazy Disney people! Brandon is pretty much done with Disney too, for now. He's stuck going in May for our anniversary, but other than that, he wants a break, and I suppose I can understand that. But I have AP's and there's no way I'm only getting one trip out of them. I'm thinking of possibly maybe considering a solo trip next summer. I'm not sure if I'm brave enough, but I'd like to try it, just to prove to myself I can do it. If you wanted to come, feel free, and bring Caitlin too, if she wants! I want to go in the summer because the parks are open so late, I love the idea of waiting til late to go to the parks, staying there until 2 am and then sleeping in and hanging out by the pool all day!

I'm glad the WL is getting a room refurb too, I like the rooms, but I'm not a big fan of the bedding, and I hope they change the color of the walls! Other than that, it's fine with me!

Haha, your day sounds like the opposite of mine!! I had like 8 posts on my TR so far for this day and I'm just now at the point you are at. Next up will be dinner and the, yes, SOLD OUT MNSSHP!!! How did we not run into each other?!

BTW, your pictures of the WL make me SOOO happy I'm saying there in Feb! I LOVE that place and can't wait to be back there. :goodvibes

I know, I can't believe you did so much that day, I admire your energy, especially in that heat! I don't sleep much in Disney, because I just want to keep going, but I do need an afternoon break!

I thought for sure I'd run into you at MNSSHP, but there were SO many people there, it was crazy!!

You're so lucky to be staying at the WL in February, it's such a perfect winter resort!

I can't wait to read about MNSSHP! I think we may have passed by you guys down main street. (The only time I thought I saw you by the way.)

Once I found out that it was sold out, I kept complaining to Brandon that it figures, my first MNSSHP and it's sold out! :rotfl: It was really, really crowded, but still fun! :thumbsup2

I love the WL, but if you have one near you, it makes sense to stay away from it! I always thought I'd stay away from the Yacht Club, since it's supposed to be modeled after New England yacht clubs, but I'd probably still stay there if I had the chance!

I can't believe you got to stay at the GF, and as an upgrade!!! That must have been amazing!!!

Ahhhh, you thought you saw us!! Why didn't you come say hi! Although, I thought I saw you guys in Liberty Square, and I didn't say hi either...I thought it might have possibly been you, but I was afraid if I said something and it wasn't, I would have freaked that person out! :rotfl:

When I stay at Coronado Springs in December I sure hope I like it more than your DH... and then I'll be sure to let you know so you can let him know... because you know, men CAN'T be right, right? ;) :lmao:

LOL, I think you will like CSR! I think we would have liked it much better if we had more than one night there, and I didn't feel so awful!

Sounds like a relaxing way to spend the first half of your party day. Nice view from your room!

It was a nice way to start the day, but I was getting kind of impatient waiting for that text towards the end! The view from the room was great, especially in the morning!

Ugh, ok, I know I'm abandoning my responses right in the middle of everything, but it's SNOWING here in CT, so I should probably go out and do everything I need to do before it gets really bad! This is ridiculous!

I think we might have liked CSR better if we had more time there and I felt better. I really wanted to explore, see the pool, get a drink somewhere, but my migraine killed any hope of doing that after Epcot that night.

I'm not sure if we would do the Halloween Party again, I really liked it, but I'm more of a Christmas girl, if I have the chance between MNSSHP and MVMCP, I'll take the Christmas party every time! I just hope they don't get too crazy like the Halloween parties are getting! :)

I agree about the Grand Floridian. It really is the ultimate Deluxe resort.

WL looks so nice, and it's nice that you guys have a resort that feels like home. I'm still waiting to find mine.

Isn't the GF amazing? I could have spent the whole day in there! :lovestruc

Don't worry, you will find a resort that feels like home to you! We were lucky to find ours so easily, but I have a feeling that once we stay in AKL and the Poly someday, they will become favorites as well!

I love my Chip and Dale earrings, I should take a picture of them for you guys!

I know what you mean about Wilderness Lodge, it just feels so right to be staying there. Even when we visit there, I get this all over calm feeling. I really want to stay there next year on our trip.

You should definitely stay at WL on your next trip, I think it would be a great resort for baby's first trip! So nice and peaceful, yet so close to MK! :thumbsup2

LOL, everyone thinks of Full House when they think of GF! :thumbsup2 I really love that resort, I can't imagine staying there!

We never get texts for our room either, I don't know why we even bother!

Aw I just love WL! :lovestruc If we were to ever become DVC members I would want that to be my home resort. Your view looks to be on the opposite side of our view from Memorial Day week. Hope it was quiet enough for you.

I would want WL to be our home resort too, if we ever bought DVC! :thumbsup2 I wanted to walk over to the villas but I never got the chance!

Ugh...it was NOT quiet. Soooo annoying! :sad2:

Your pictures of WL are gorgeous! I definitely want to stay there someday, it looks so cool! And that is pretty awesome about the random wandering princesses at GF!

Thanks! WL is beautiful, you should definitely try it out someday! Although, I bet after your stay at the Poly, you will never want to go anywhere else!

We visited the Boardwalk on this trip and loved it, now it's another dream resort to add to the list! :thumbsup2 I never wanted to stay there because of the clown pool, but we looked at the pool area and it's not that bad!

What night did you go to MNSSHP? I think we left right when that tropical depression was just starting, 10/8, and it poured SO bad that day! I hope that's all the Disney rain I have to deal with for a while, I hope the party didn't get rained out for you! :)

Glad you felt better. Wow, you had a beautiful view at the WL. Can't wait to hear how MNSSHP went.

Thanks! The view was amazing, however, being that close to the pool was kind of annoying, it's SO loud in the middle of the day! I will be doing my MNSSHP update soon, I hope, maybe even later, since I'm trapped inside bc of the snow! :rotfl:

It's really too bad you didn't enjoy CSR (I love it!) but I am glad that you got to go "home". I can't wait to see how MNSSHP went for you guys, I've been hearing some horror stories from it this year.

CSR was absolutely beautiful, but we just didn't have enough time there! Maybe we will give it another chance in the future, when Brandon doesn't hate it so much! :rotfl:

Where are all of these MNSSHP horror stories that everyone is talking about? :scared1: I've only seen positive reviews! I sometimes wonder if people expect too much from these parties! :confused3

I was there in October (13-17, stayed at CR). I just started my TR (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2823214), come on over if you have a chance!

Love the WL pics and yay on meeting Aurora whilst roaming Grand Floridian resort - how cool! :thumbsup2 Looking forward to hearing all about MNSSHP.

I think we would like CSR if we got to know it a little better, we weren't even there for 24 hours so it was a bit confusing, and I felt awful, so that didn't help! I think we might like it more if we stayed for a few days!

I loved passing Aurora on the steps in the GF! It was just so normal, walking by a princess on the stairs! The princess tea party thing they have for little girls there makes me wish I had a little girl of my own to bring there...someday, I hope! :cool1:

Getting ready for MNSSHP!

9/30, Friday

Once our room was ready, we went up, got unpacked and passed out for a little while! We didn't have much time, because I wanted to be in MK at 4 and it was already around 2, so I didn't get to sleep as long as I would have liked! I also knew there was no way I could straighten my hair either, but that didn't really matter since it was so hot, it would have just frizzed up anyway!

I was hoping to be at least waiting for the boat to MK by 3:30, but that didn't happen, since Brandon was taking forever to get up and get ready, so we didn't get down to the boat dock until about 3:45. It didn't matter though, we made it to MK by 4 so I was happy! I wanted as much MK time as I could get, especially since the Halloween Party was sold out, I figured we wouldn't get much done once the party actually started!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000140.jpg

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000142.jpg

Once I finished admiring the Fall decorations, we got our MNSSHP bracelets and went in to MK! We had dinner reservations at Liberty Tree Tavern at 4:40, so we still had some time before we had to be there, so I wanted to take my time on Main Street to see the Halloween decorations!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000144.jpg

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000146.jpg

Finally I saw the castle! I love seeing the castle for the first time on any trip! We never do MK on our first day of our vacation, so even though I might be in a different park a day or two before we get to MK, a Disney vacation officially starts once you see the castle!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000147.jpg
Ugh...stupid crane!

We got closer and noticed all the cute little Halloween statues! I've been wanting to see these ever since I saw them in Halloween TR's from last year! I had to find the Minnie one and take a picture with it:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000148.jpg

We did walk around and look at each statue, but we didn't have time to take pictures of each one yet, we came back later to do that! We were getting hungry, and our ADR time was approaching, so we figured we might as well go in the direction of LTT and check in!

On the way, I noticed such a cute window display at Sleepy Hollow:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000150.jpg

I love all the little details they put into decorating MK for Halloween, it's too bad they don't do that for all of the parks!

Before we made it in to LTT, I saw this:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000151.jpg

Disney popcorn! If you have read any of my TR's or PTR's, you know how much I LOVE Disney popcorn! And I really wanted to get that Mickey ghost bucket, so I took a picture to remind myself to buy one later!

We went into LTT and checked in and I was prepared to sit and wait like we did last time, but we were seated immediately! I didn't get to take any pictures of the waiting area except this

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000152.jpg

Our table was right near a fireplace, in one of the rooms in the back, I forget which room it was, but it was so cute! I really love the theme in there, I love American history, so I like places that make you feel like you are back in that time period!

Our server came right over, and she was great, she explained how everything worked, that it was family style and we could have as much of anything that we wanted! So we told her to skip the salad, since we're just not salad people, so she brought us our drinks and bread, and then started bringing the food out!

Everything was so good, it was like Thanksgiving dinner! The only thing I didn't really like was the ham, and not because it wasn't good, but because it just didn't seem to go with everything else! The steak and turkey was awesome, Brandon loved the steak, I think he might have asked for more, and the mashed potatoes and stuffing were great too! I don't think I tried the mac and cheese or vegetables, but Brandon did and liked them.

Once we were finished, our server brought out our dessert:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000156.jpg

We were a little confused, because we thought the dessert was apple crisp, and this definitely was not apple crisp! So Brandon asked our server, and she said it is now apple sponge cake with Craisins, with ice cream on top. We were a little disappointed at first, but after trying the cake, not anymore, it was great! The cake was so moist and the ice cream went perfectly with it! We considered asking for more, but felt kind of stupid, and we were stuffed anyway! :rotfl: We both really liked LTT for dinner, we had only been there for lunch before and the dinner was almost as good! The only reason I'd say I like lunch there a little more is because I like being able to choose what I'm going to eat! But I'd definitely go back, for lunch or dinner! :thumbsup2

We didn't really know what to do until the party started, so we went towards Tomorrowland to see how long the wait was for Space Mountain. It was only 20 minutes, so we hopped in line! It was fun, as always, but I always find myself wishing for a huge drop and it never happens!

Once we were finished with SM, we went on the Peoplemover, which is one of my favorites! Brandon doesn't get my fascination with this ride, so when I told him I was going to take a picture of him, he acted really excited:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000158.jpg
Ha ha!

I tried to get a picture of the castle from the Peoplemover, and this is the best I could do:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000159.jpg

It was getting closer and closer to party time, and I wanted to be in Adventureland when the party started, so we walked in that direction. We stopped to see more of the cute Halloween statues

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000166.jpg

And then we stopped so Brandon could see some of the ducks

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000169.jpg

When we finally got to Adventureland, we went on Pirates of the Caribbean. I think it was maybe a 10 minute wait or so. When we came out, I looked for the line to meet Jack Sparrow, and it was insane! I don't know how I missed it on the way over to POTC, because it was seriously half way down Adventureland! Oh well, wouldn't be getting in that line right now!

Since it was getting close to 7, there was another line I wanted to check out, the wait to get a picture with Cinderella's coach, so we went over to Fantasyland.

I was surprised to see that they were already doing pictures with the coach, I thought they didn't start until the party officially started, but it was pretty close to 7 so maybe they start early? The line was pretty short, so we got in and waited maybe 15 minutes to get our picture.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/Photopass/Photo0007FourBySix.jpg

It's cute, but I kind of wish we waited until it was darker to do it, so it would be lit up! Oh well, next time!

I think this is the point where I started to get a little overwhelmed...the crowds were getting crazy and I had no plan! I'm not one for touring plans, but it seemed like some sort of strategy was necessary for this party, since it was sold out! There was still so much to do, and I had no idea in what order we should do everything...

Up next...the most rude person I've ever encountered in Disney World!

LTT dinner sounds really yummy. But, then again, can't go wrong with turkey and stuffing. :cutie:

I loved hearing about your time so far at the MK waiting for MNSSHP to start! We've only done the Christmas party and I too felt overwhelmed and wished I would have planned better! I love the picture of you two in front of Cinderella's coach, it's adorable :goodvibes

I want to try LTT for lunch one day. I'm glad to hear you say you liked lunch better than dinner!

Great pics of MK with the Halloween decorations! :thumbsup2 I agree in that a Disney vacation doesn't feel complete until you've seen the castle

Mmm Disney popcorn in the Mickey ghost bucket - did you go back and get some later?

I'm glad you enjoyed LTT for dinner and had heard about the new dessert - am glad you really liked it!

Great shot in front of the coach and I'm looking forward to hearing about the rest of the party! :goodvibes

I felt the same way at the party!!!! We all know that I'm a planner too especially when my parents are in town but we pretty much went with the flow and it turned out okay.

Can you believe that the parties this weekend and Halloween are not sold out yet but Sept 30th was?!

When we went to LTT in July, I was disappointed too at first when I found out that they didn't have the apple crisp. But you are so right. OMG, I ate the apple craisin cake, and I wasn't sad anymore. :lmao:

I love all of the touches that they have during MNSSHP. It's really the details that make it so much fun to go.

Can't wait to hear how it went with it being so crowded. :scared1:

Great start to the Halloween party. sounds like the lines were great up till party time. Curious to hear what a sold out Halloween party looks like. I've been twice, but neither was super crowded. I did do a sold out Christmas party and I won't be doing it again in December, if that tells you how I felt about that! :rotfl:

Of course, I hear the decorations at Disneyland for Halloween are even better! DH told me last night he'd really like to plan to go to California in 2013 with the family so maybe we will have to plan it for a weekend with Halloween in mind! ;)

I called out of work today (we have no power, heat, or electricity so we moved in with my brother for a few days) so I'm actually able to see your pics! I LOVE the pic with Cinderella's coach! Even though it's not all lit up, it's still a really nice picture! And your pics from WL are beautiful! I'm sorry you guys didn't like CSR! Getting lost in the dark is soo frustrating! That's how I felt about POP. As much as I loved being IN Disney World....we couldn't check out of POP fast enough...even though it meant going home!

Thanks! The party was fun, but I kind of wish it wasn't sold out! That whole weekend was insane, because the next night was the 40th anniversary!

Christmas parties sell out? :scared1: That would make me so upset...of course, the 2 I've been to were in November, and no one was there, but I guess in December it picks up! I'd love to go to one in December, closer to Christmas, but if it was sold out, forget it!

You have to keep LTT for lunch, it's awesome! I wonder if they decorate in there for the holidays, I bet it's so pretty and cozy! :lovestruc

Yeah, we're in Naugatuck and about 65% of the town has no power as of 9am this morning. It started as 95% on Sunday so they ARE working on it. My brother lives in Stratford though and got hardly anything so we are lucky we can at least stay there for a few days. My dad lives in Bristol and also has no power....I was looking at the CL & P outage map on WNTH's website this morning, and there are towns and cities where 100% of the residents have no power.

I think that our trip in 2009 was just so frustrating in general that THAT is the reason I don't like Pop. Lumar's mom was really sick and in the hospital, and they called him at least once a day while we were on trip asking him if he would give a verbal DNR.... so it was really upsetting and frustrating. The whole mood and tone of the trip was very depressing and I think we kind of took it out on POP unfairly. Although we were in the Roger Rabbit building which is literally, the furthest building from the main building...and I just COULD NOT find my way around. I would go back to ASMovies in a heart beat though, and I've always wanted to try ASMusic....and of course, now I'm dying to see the new Animation Resort! Maybe one of these days.....:rolleyes1

Surprise!

Hi everyone!

I've been wanting to share this news with you for weeks, but I had to wait until I was 99% sure it was happening, and now I can say that it is...

We're going back to Disney...IN DECEMBER!!!! :dance3: :cool1: 38 days, to be exact!!

Basically, for those of you who don't know, I upgraded our MYW tickets to AP's while we were there last month, and between doing that, and seeing the Osborne Lights in DHS NOT lit up, I knew I had to beg Brandon to ok a quick December trip. It took a LOT of convincing, and I had to give up any Christmas presents I might have gotten from him this year, BUT...we're going! AHHHH!!! I can't wait! It's going to be a super quick, super cheap trip...our dates our 12-10 to 12-13 and we're going for 3 reasons~

1. To see this

2. and these:

3. and finally...The Candlelight Processional!!!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/processional-300x210.jpg

I'm not going to be doing a PTR for this trip, but I will do another update or two about our plans for the 3 days we will be there, our ADR's, where we're staying, and how I kept this trip SO cheap (which I'm pretty proud of!)

Now I'm off to make a new ticker, finally! :dance3:

I wish! Unfortunately, if we want to go in May, Brandon has to save his vacation days til then, so he's using a personal day for this trip, and his stupid job won't let him string personal days. So he's using a personal day for Monday and we're flying home Tuesday morning, and he's going to work that night!

That's exciting news! :) Christmas time in Disney is one of the most magical times to be in the World, I think. :)

The candlelight processional was nice, however, we had Abigail Breslin as our narrator and she didn't do the best job of really making the story as grand as it should be. If I did it again, I'd want to book a package as well.

One of the things I dislike most about going from mid-September to mid-November is that they have all the lights set-up (or are setting them up) for the holidays and it takes away from the SoA specifically.

I refuse to let myself make a final decision on our next vacation until after the holidays are over. Greg's already asked me when we're going back to Disney. (Which he then hid behind his menu immediately after asking.) He asked BEFORE me this time! :scared1: Uh oh, what have I created?!

I couldn't help but respond. We (DH and I) stayed at POR 3 times in a row. We then stayed at WL last May. I can't say how much I love WL. I like POR, but it is just so big! WL is beautiful. The rooms are kind of cabin like, very cute. I loved being in one big building. If I could, I would stay at WL every time (if my wallet allowed me that is). I have some pics of the room in my trip report which is in my signature.

I LOVE Christmas at Disney! I'm so happy we're finally going in December, I've wanted to for years, but we've always opted for November because of the low crowds. Since this is such a short trip, I don't really care so much about crowds!

I can't WAIT to see the CP! I did book a package, there's no way I'm going to wait all day to get a seat! I think our narrator is Neil Patrick Harris...that's just weird to me! :rotfl:

I was SO depressed seeing the Osborne Lights not lit up...it's just not right! As soon as I saw that, I started thinking "I gotta get back here for Christmas this year!"

You're lucky your DH wants to go back to Disney so badly, I pretty much have to drag Brandon there. I'm already slightly freaking out at the thought of no Disney after May next year! What am I going to do with myself?

That's so awesome, you're going to have a great time checking out all the holiday decor! I love the Osborne Lights, they're truly magical and gorgeous. :goodvibes

Thanks! I can't wait to see the holiday decorations! I love the Osborne Lights, I plan on watching them for at least 2 hours! I just want to immerse myself in Disney Christmas magic! :yay:

Yay! December is the best time to go, in my opinion. The Osbourne Lights are a must-do and the CP is really special. :thumbsup2

I can't wait to FINALLY see the CP! We've gone the week before Thanksgiving 2 years in a row, and it's too early for the CP, so now I finally get to see it! I'm totally expecting to cry the whole time! :rotfl:

Enjoyed seeing the pics of WL. We are thinking about a trip in May and we are trying to decide between WL and POR. I love POR but would like to try something different. Are the rooms at WL refrubished? Are the rooms nice? Hope to see some pics!

Thanks! The rooms at WL are not yet refurbished, I've heard that they are going to be soon, but I'm not sure when they are going to start! I didn't take pictures of the room this time, but if you go to the resorts boards, they have a whole section over there, just for pictures of resorts, and there are tons of room pics! I personally love the rooms, I love everything about WL, I would definitely go there instead of POR! POR is lovely, but WL is amazing! It's in such a great location, I love taking the boat to MK!

Very exciting! I'm sure it's going to be a great trip!

Thanks, I think it's going to be a lot of fun! :cool1:

Yay on the December trip! :santa: I'm sure you'll have a great time! :cool1:

Thanks, I'm sure we will have a great time too, there is nothing better than Disney during the holidays! :)

Congrats on your trip, Disney at Christmastime is so beautiful :santa: Which resort are you staying at?

Thanks, I love Disney at Christmas! :lovestruc I'll tell you guys all the details about where we're staying and everything in a future post, I'll do a mini PTR here, because I actually need some input about this trip! And we've already talked about switching resorts, of course! Wouldn't be a Jen and Brandon Disney trip if we didn't consider changing things around!

We're going to be in Disney at the same time in December! I'm going with a friend 12/9 - 12/12. Maybe we can meet up one day! Our plans are all the same except we don't have time for the candlelight processional.

Yay, you're going at the same time! :cool1: I would love to try to meet up, but I have a feeling we're going to be running around like crazy since we only have 3 days to do everything, but once I get everything finalized, maybe we can figure something out! I love having an AP so far! I love the room discounts, that's a big reason I bought one! I'm wondering if I should get a TIW card too? Not sure if it's really worth it, I'll have to look into it! I'm going to to do a mini PTR in this TR, to talk about the plans for this trip!

Jen, that is great news on your "surprise" trip to DW so you can see the Christmas lights. I'm so happy for you guys.

Thanks! I'm still kind of in shock that Brandon agreed, he is so Disney-ed out right now...I think he only went for it because we will only be there for 3 days!

Yayayaya!! That is so very exciting. I have to say I am SUPER jealous. I really want to go in December to see all the Christmas decorations. :santa:

Thanks! Going to see the Christmas decorations is so much fun, it's such a great time to go! I love going in the Fall, but I'm happiest in Disney during the Holiday season! :lovestruc

Wow, Jen! That's awesome! A short trip is better than NO trip, I always say! I can't believe poor Brandon has to go to work the night you come back! That really sucks but at least he will have spent the last 48 hours or so in Disney! :thumbsup2

Thanks! It's going to be weird doing such a short trip, but I think we can get a lot accomplished! This trip is not going to be so much about attractions as it is Christmas decorations, and the CP!

I feel bad that Brandon has to work the same day, but we did the same thing when we went on our Disneymoon, we flew home that morning and he went to work. His job sucks, I wish I could just convince him to call out that day so we could come home at night, but I think if he calls out the day after taking a personal day, they won't pay him for the personal day or something stupid. :sad2:

So excited (and jealous! :goodvibes) you are going back so soon! We went last year right after Thanksgiving and got to experience it during the holidays. It was magical! Have a fantastic trip!:yay:

Thanks! I've always wanted to go right after Thanksgiving, it seems like a fun time to go! :cool1: I'm going to love being there so close to Christmas, this is seriously the best Christmas present ever!

Woohoo that is great news!!! :cool1: I look forward to hearing all about the ADRs (and changes ) as well as seeing photos of the christmas decorations :thumbsup2

Thanks! LOL, there will definitely be changes, I'm already thinking about changing some things around! I don't know why I can't just leave things alone, it's just no fun that way!

:cool1: Yippee for the upcoming trip! I just LOVE the parks decorated during the holidays and especially the Osborne Lights. It's one my FIL favorites as well. We planned two trips one year just so we could go back and see the holiday decorations with them! :)

A short trip is better than no trip at all and if you can do it on a budget, even better. That's one of the reasons I'm going to get an AP for our March trip in 2012. I already have one, but DH does not and with spending 5 days in March and another 5 days in November, it just makes sense to get him one as well. That way when our November trip comes up, I'm only paying for park passes for 3 kids (2 of which will be considered adults) instead of five of them. This will be good since I'll also be paying for the balance of the cruise too! I'm trying not to think to much about that amount that will hit us next summer! :rotfl:

Thanks, I'm glad I recovered also! WL is awesome, although I can understand moving to CR when you got the chance, I love how close CR is to MK! :thumbsup2 Did you like the pool area at CR? I really think the back of it needs a serious upgrade, but other than that, CR is beautiful!

I agree that the pool area at CR is a little sparse, but the rest of the hotel totally makes up for it...it's beautiful! And that private walkway to and from MK sure comes in handy when you see the lines for the monorail and ferries!

I'm envious of your picture with Cinderella's coach, that was one thing we didn't get to at MNSSHP. Next year, maybe?

That's funny that you keep hoping for a big drop on Space Mountain. The lack of a big drop is what gets this ride chicken to actually go on that ride! :lmao:

Haha, I told Brandon what John said and he agreed with him, and he's never even been there! He's such a deluxe snob now. He wanted to switch to WL, so I checked the price, and it would be over $800 for 3 nights, because all they have is Courtyard view with bunk beds available! :scared1:

I'm thinking of staying at the Boardwalk in May. I really like it there! :thumbsup2

What an awesome surprise!!!!

All I get at my job is vacation days...we don't get personal days or sick days, but we are allowed to take unpaid days off if we want. Brandon isn't allowed to, so he can't just take a personal day Monday and then take Tuesday off unpaid. I think that's kind of stupid, but whatever. I'm glad we get to go at all! :thumbsup2

Boo to You!

9/30

When we left off, I was sort of in a panic about what to do next at MNSSHP! The party had just started, and I already felt rushed, like there was too much to do and not enough time! Finally, I thought about the things I really wanted to see, and remembered that seeing Mickey and Minnie in their costumes was one of the things I wanted to do, so I asked Brandon if he minded walking to the beginning of Main Street. He was fine with it, so we were off to Main Street!

We got to Exposition Hall and checked the wait times. The Princesses had a long wait, over an hour, but the line for Mickey and Minnie was pretty short, under 30 minutes I think. So we got in line and in no time at all, it seemed like we were in the room, ready to meet Mickey and Minnie!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/P1000188.jpg

They looked so cute in their costumes! I always love meeting them together, they seem like such a nice couple, even though they can't speak!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/Photopass/Photo0014FourBySix.jpg

Once we were finished with Mickey and Minnie, we went back outside to Main Street, and people were already lining up for the parade. It was around 7:40, and the parade was supposed to start at 8:15. I assumed we would watch the parade in Frontierland, like we always do at the Christmas parties, but as we walked up Main Street, we actually found a great spot along the curb, so we decided to just sit down and wait. I was pretty happy at the thought of seeing my first Boo to You parade on Main Street, it just seemed a little more magical, looking down the street and seeing the castle!

I passed the time by playing with the settings on the new camera to try to find a good setting for nice parade pictures. Before I knew it, it was almost 8:15, and the CM's were clearing people off of Main Street! Time for the Headless Horseman!

I knew I wouldn't be able to get a good picture, since I assumed he would be riding pretty fast down Main Street, so Brandon decided to take video instead! Even though it's kind of dark, I think it came out pretty good:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/th_P1000217.jpg (http://s36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/Nermel9/Disney%20October%202011/?action=view&current=P1000217.mp4)

The Headless Horseman was awesome! What a fun way to start a parade! Once he finished his ride, the CM's were letting people back on Main Street, because the actual parade wouldn't start for another 15 minutes. Everyone next to us on the curb sat back down, but Brandon and I stood, because we were sitting for so long, it was starting to get uncomfortable.

Brandon was playing around with his phone, and I was doing something with the camera when this family came up behind us-Mom, Dad, and 3 kids, maybe ages 8-11, something like that. The Mom asks Brandon if we can sit down when the parade starts so the kids can see over us, to which Brandon says "I guess," not really paying attention. The Mom then got very snotty and said "or they can just stand in front of you, I don't care."

I was annoyed because honestly, I don't think you should be able to come up to people who have been waiting for a parade to start for almost an hour, and snottily demand that they move. :sad2: However, that wasn't the end of it. The entire family decided that they would talk about us the whole time, until the parade started. The Mom, the Dad, the kids all had something to say. For 10 minutes I had to listen to:

"Well, don't worry, I'll get you in front one way or another"

"Are they going to move? They're not gonna move, are they Mom?"

"I don't know, I asked nicely, we'll just have to wait and see. But you'll get up there either way"

"What's their problem, why won't they just sit?"

Add in a few non-DIS friendly words and you get the idea of the things they were saying right behind us, seriously 6 inches away from me.

Now, I'm not a mean, evil person. I don't want to ruin a child's enjoyment of seeing a Disney parade. HOWEVER. I paid to be there too. And just because I don't have a child with me doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to get a good spot for the parade and enjoy it. It was my first MNSSHP and the parade was one of the things I was most excited about. So I stood there, SOOOO mad, debating with myself in my head whether or not to turn around and confront this woman, and possibly make a huge scene in Disney World, my favorite place on the planet or just let it go. I asked Brandon "ok, should I be a b&*#h when the parade starts and keep standing, or just sit down?" and he mumbled something at me. He was not paying attention to any of this, because he was doing something on his phone.

I thought about my niece, Caitlin, who some of you might know from my sister, pinkxray's TR's. I thought about her seeing her first Halloween parade, and how mad I would be if someone purposely blocked her, or did anything to ruin her enjoyment of her first MNSSHP, (which she was going to be going to in a few weeks at that time.) So when the CM's started clearing people off Main Street again, I sat down, and Brandon did too. And then of course, the woman actually has the nerve to say "thank you." Yeah. You're welcome. Sigh.

I hope I don't start a debate on here, whether not it's ok to do this at parades, I know this gets debated all the time on the DIS. I don't know if you guys are going to think I'm so terrible person for being annoyed with this family. It wasn't so much them asking if we could sit so the kids could see, it's everything that happened after. Especially the mom saying she was going to get the kids in the front one way or another. :sad2: I did think about standing there, I did think about confronting her, but then I remembered it was Disney World, everyone is supposed to be happy, and I should just sit down and be quiet, and try not to let things like this ruin my time! So when the parade started, I tried to forget about them and enjoy the parade, which I did!

I think I got some pretty good pictures, although I've seen better! :rotfl:

I loved the parade, it was just as good as everyone said it would be! I love the music, and I really love the Haunted Mansion part! :thumbsup2

When it was over, we both had to use the bathroom, so we went over to the bathrooms by Crystal Palace, where I texted my DIS friend Joni and told her about the rude family at the parade, and waited for Brandon.

Since it was so close to it being time for Hallowishes, we decided to see if we could find a good spot to hang out and wait for it to begin. I was kind of hungry, so we got some popcorn first and then went right to the middle of the hub and sat down on the ground, which is what everyone else was doing. I was so excited to finally see Hallowishes, and compare them to Holiday Wishes, which is my favorite fireworks show in Disney!

Up next...Hallowishes and more MNSSHP!

That's just horrible what happened and that woman and her family constantly going on and on about it is just the same as if you would have turned around and confronted her. But I'm glad that there was no confrontation in the end, as I can tell it would have upset you alot. Its a shame that there are people out there like that, even more shameful that it happens at WDW :(

So glad you loved the parade, its such an awesome show and the music is so cool. What was your favourite part? Did you see the grave diggers little skit?

Your parade pictures are wonderful! It looks just incredible! Can't wait to hear what you think of HalloWishes!
You are a big person to just sit even though it would have been more comfortable to stand-- I also applaud your ability not to confront the rude things the people were saying about you. Ridiculous. I hate entitled people-- those with kids and without. Big ups to you-- I don't think I would have been able to bite my tongue!

haha, I like in the video of the Headless Horseman you can hear one of the CMs telling people to stay behind the tape or whatever. They are so serious about not being in the street AT ALL when he comes by!

Ugh, that is obnoxious about that family and their kids. :sad2:

First off, your parade pictures turned out really well. Alex is normally really good with taking photos, but he didn't get any good ones from Boo to You, so I was glad to see someone was able to capture some great ones. :thumbsup2

And second, I can completely empathize with you on the rude family incident. It seems like 2 adults catch a lot of un-needed heckling because there aren't children with them. I have yet to sit down for a parade or show and not had a family make a little snide comment about "taking up space for the kids." It stinks that they had to upset you and take away that parade anticipation.
But you were such a better person than me; it was really good of you to just sit down and brush their comments aside. I don't think I could've kept my mouth shut. :rotfl:

I can't wait to see what you thought of Hallowishes. I know it's become my DH's favorite firework show, so I wonder if you enjoyed it as much as Holiday Wishes.

Your pictures came out great! Whatever setting you picked on your camera was awesome... I especially love the one with the waltzing ghosts with the eery fog in the background. So appropriate!

I'm also super jealous you managed to snag evidence of the Headless Horseman. When he rode passed us I got the world's worst blurry picture... I deleted it on the spot!

Your pictures are great from the parade!

You did the right thing, not confronting them and just sitting down. In my opinion, those people were rude to assume you wouldn't sit down for the parade. The lady should have asked both of you nicely if you were going to sit or stand and then should have asked nicely if her children could stand in front (if you were going to stand) instead of being so rude. I can not stand rude people. I have traveled to disney with and without our son and never have been rude to others like that. I am glad you didn't let it get the best of you!!! I feel that if you would have confronted them it would have just gotten worse.

You are a great person for not saying anything back to that family. It is very rude of the mother to talk about you when they know you could hear everything. When Kyle and I can't see something, we move, we don't make other's adjust themselves for us. They should have just moved.

Wow. That family's comments were definitely unnecessarily rude. But you're right, it's best to just enjoy the happy things and try to keep it as magical as possible!

(But still. Ugh.)

Great parade pics/video!

Wow girl, you are gooooood for holding your tongue. I would definitely have sat down so the kids could see, just as you and Brandon said you would, but I could never let someone sit there and talk about me like that! I'm glad you were able to put it to the side and enjoy the parade! Great pictures, too! :thumbsup2

I agree with everyone else, I think you did the right thing. I would have had the same reaction...debating whether or not it was worth it to say something but sitting down in the end. Rude, miserable people will be rude and miserable their whole lives so it's not worth it to try to argue with that! Glad you were able to let it go and enjoy the parade...my FAVORITE parade, btw! And you definitely had a better spot that night than I did!!

I think it was very kind of you and it showed a lot of restraint not to let loose on the lady. She should have just kept her mouth shut and I'm sure you would have offered to have the children stand in front of you or you would have sat down. Sorry you had to be in that uncomfortable situation. But you enjoyed the parade, and that's really what matters. And your pics turned out good.!!!!!

Ugh - what is it about parades that bring out the worst in people?! It is for that reason that we don't do too many of them - too much tension! I am really sensitive, and if I that had been me, my night would have been ruined. I commend your taking the high road! :worship:

It looks like all of that was worth it though, because the parade looks amazing! I MUST go to Disney in October! I so want to see all of the decorations and go to the party!

People can really be jerks. I know either Ben or I would have said something. But then we would have had more of a scene... you were smart to bite your tongue!

The Halloween party looks like so much fun- can't wait to see it next year!

I commend you for your self control, because I'm pretty sure I would have shanked that lady.

Of course, maybe that's my desperate need for a vacation speaking. Once I'm AT WDW, I may have the same self control.

But maybe not. :rolleyes1

Enjoying your report!

Thanks for the video too.
