The Good, The Bad, and The Tired.. Six days, Seven Nights Sept. 2011 Trip

Been home for almost a month. Time to get this report started. Just got DD's pics from trip this past weekend. Got photo pass ordered should get that in this week. Looked over pics from travel day and counted 39 to look at adding to travel day updates. Still need to figure out sizing pics if anyone can help that would be great. Hope to get get first update done this week. Those that read ptr come see how much of list got done. For those that did not read no real need to go back and read it was short and not much to it. Hey Im just being honest. Will start this by reposting introductions.

My name is Sandy. I do customer service. I have three kids. Two boys and a girl, ages 21,19, and 18. The 18 is the girl. We have all been to WDW once, back in 08. As a result DD and myself have become Disney Crazy. Driving the rest the family nuts. We see and point out Mickey Heads everywhere, can get Disney in almost every conversation….you know the type.
This trip started with an idea (all great things do) to take DD for our first Mother Daughter trip. This goal is to feed our addictions and to bond in a more adult matter. You see she turned 18 this year and graduated from high school.What better way to celebrate then Six days, seven nights at WDW.

Night before:
We arrived home around three, but I still had last minute packing to finish. We had dinner and packing done by 8:30. It was time for a movie and do nails. For movie we watched Snow White. It had played on Disney channel earlier that week. I had picked up some cheap red nail polish, with a black detail polish. So we painted all our nails red . With the black DD painted little dots on all her nails with her thumbs having a Mickey head. I jus did Mickey head on my thumbs and big toes. I must have been tired or nervous cause I forgot to take pic of our nails. By the time we were done with everything it was close to 12:30.

Travel Day:

I was up at 4:30. Did I need to be up this early, no but couldn’t get back to sleep. :rolleyes1 Kept thinking of things that didn’t get packed the night before. Finished packing. (Still forgot things but ok didn’t need them all.) We were on our way to airport around 7:00. We arrived around 9:30. Yes we were still to early but that was ok. We checked our bags in then went to security check. Now I was all prepare to set it off. I have a hip replacement. To my surprise it didn’t go off. Now I’m not complaining not having to be checked over. But why is this machine not going off. It was not a scanner. Oh well nothing that I can do.

What to do while we wait. First get coffee. Then get cards out to play. Yes we sat on floor by window and played Phase 10. Surprising we didn’t finish the game. Could be due to phone calls, text messaging. Or people watching. This was DD first flight. I got her a window seat. No excitement on the plane. Lots of little kids that went to sleep, as well as some adults. Not me I just wanted to land.

Hey Tanz. WooHoo Your first. (I kind of knew you would be.) Movie was a must. Needed it to settle down to sleep. I thought we had taken a pic of nails but must have been to tired cause no pic. :upsidedow I reliezed it while in WDW but before nail polish started to chip. (Thats what I get for using cheap polish.) I did have a lady notice them second day on bus. But she was the only one. Oh well, might have to do them at home sometime and see if anyone notice. As for funny pics I got lots. DD loves to snap pics at all times. So she took lots while standing in line or waiting for me. Glad I'm doing this tr so she doesn't add bad ones of me. ;) What did surprise me is how long an update takes to post. I got all of day one writing just not finding time to sort pics and downloading then editing finally posting. This might take me two years to finish. JK Will get it done. Boy I had alot to say today. Landing time. Ok, fist cute story about a kid not belonging to us. We have a lot of them. So this little boy is looking out the window as we are landing. He real loud but in a cute way is saying everything he sees. Then starts to add that he sees Pluto. He starts saying this more and more. DD and I just laughed and were trying hard to find Pluto but I hate to say he wasn’t at the airport.

Did make it to POP. Got threw check in fast. DD got two sets of buttons. I did online check in so they were made ahead of time. Well the lady checking us in must not have known this and made her a set. (We were celebrating both her 18 bday and her high school graduation. Anyways, we got room 3117. It was a great room for us. Not sure there was a room at POP I would have hated at this point. Was exactly what I wanted. In 50 section, quiet area, and ground level. We were just around from bowling bin pool with lake view. I couldn't beleive the way people behave towards cm's. There was a guy checking in that did not get what he wanted. Was screaming at the cm about how he booked this trip 180 days ago, so no reason he shouldn't get what he wanted. Really, your in WDW your request are just that request. First thing we do is drop out stuff and head out. We got IASW to ride. We did take time to get a few picks of POP but not a whole lot. Did get to line for MK. Now I can’t remember every bus ride or line for bus line. With my hip and other leg foot problems I did let DD know I won’t be standing on a bus. That we would just wait for next bus so I can sit. This was never really a problem. Now as I was sitting I noticed this lady standing in front of me had some really cute shoes. I know I have seen those shoes before. I did stare at her a bit looking for a lgmh but didn’t see one. Next thing I know she comments on mine. That’s when I’m like no way you can’t be Tanz. Ok I didn’t quit say that. I knew she would be at POP the same time and so it would be possible to run into her. But really been at POP less then an hour. It was nice hearing about there fun day at AK. We talked some on the bus. They were heading out for dinner we were going to MK. So here is our first night in Magic Kingdom.

Our first ride, ITSW. This is a must first ride for DD. I guess it is my fault. :rolleyes1 Back in 08 I knew that no one in our party would ride it but I wanted to share it with the kids. So we rode it first while waiting for dsil to arrive with her family.

Wel by now I reliezed the one thing I didn't think about. I knew that during dinner would be the parade and wishes. I didn't think of walk ways being closed. Now we are in FL and need to get back to main street for dinner at Tony's. So we walked around the park to get back to main street.

NY Strip Steak - Port Wine Sauce, Garlic Mash Potatoes and Broccolini
First I should mention I'm not that big into eating streak. Not sure why I picked this. I thought the streak was cooked just right and loved the sauce. I also cook with alot of garlic but those potatoes had to much for me. Did eat half of them so couldn't be to bad.

This was the perfect way to end our first meal. Normal our family tries not to order the same thing, but glad we did cause I wasn't sharing any of mine. :rotfl:

After dinner we stayed around to wait for MK to say goodnight. (Goodnight Kiss if no one has stayed it should be atleast a one time thing. Although I think it is the perfect way to end this night.

The line for the bus was long. It was close to midnight by the time we made it back to POP. We still needed to settle down so did jump in pool for a bit. Made it to bed around one. So the question is do we make it for rope drop for MK they do have emh?

Well to my surprise I woke up at 5:30 the next morning. Which means YES we made it to rope drop and EMH. First a stop at pop for breakfast. We both picked yogurt. Not anything to brag about, but something to wake us up with. Plus coffee for me and DD had some fizzy drink as she calls it. I never asked what she got in her cup. I know some moring it was soda others it was hot chocolate.

Oh no, my battery for camera died. DD looks at me like duh didn't you plug it in last night. NO I didn't. I'm use to DH to take care of camera. I thougth battery would last longer. Thats ok DD takes better pics then I do anyways.

We both love onion rings and these did not disappoint. The horseradish sauce was good, not to spicy so dd did eat some of it.

Angus Chuck Double Bacon Cheese Burger - two flame broiled beef patties topped with cheddar or Swiss cheese, crispy bacon, lettuce and vine-ripened tomatoes, served with a choice of cucumber salad or French fries $18.49

Wow, were these big. Defiantly could have shared. DD had the cucumber salad, and I must not have had enough fried food so I went for the fries. Did eat some of DD salad which was very good. DD like it to but was full after her burger (as was I).

This was DD desert. I'm not sure why but I didn’t try. (Think I was stuff from burger and wanted to eat my dessert.) DD did like it but is starting to get tired of cheesecake. I know who can get tiered of cheesecake.

Now all ears has posted served with ice cream. I don't remember if menu said that but I don't think it did. It was served with Reese's Pieces. This was very rich, in a good way. I would defiantly get it again. My DS would have loved it.

By now we are exhausted, but I wanted to see fantastic this night due to we missed it back in 08. So we keep going and end up on the Great Movie Ride. Wow big mistake. Ride is ok, but we are falling asleep. We decide to go back to room and catch fantastic another night. I mean we still have 5 more night.
So we go back to room rest jump in the pool a bit, talk to hubby, and boy friend. (My hubby her boy friend.) The decided we need to get out of resort. While DD went to pool I decorated window.

So we decided we are wasting a night sitting in room/ by pool so off to DTD. Not to mention by now we are hungry.

I had heard so much about this pizza I had to try it. I also wanted the meatloaf, meatball… it was a hard choice. Was very glad I picked the pizza this was excellent.

I got the cheesecake for dessert. Very good. DD got the frozen yogurt. Not sure why we don’t have pic.

We walked around for a little bit. My leg was hurting so we decided to go back to room and let me rest. The night before the pool made me feel better so I did take a short dip. Then off to bed. What a great exhausting day but oh so much fun.

Wow DHS sure was empty and I agree with LMA - didn't really think highly of it. It's okay once in a while.

Good news, might get two days off next week.

The two adr that dd picked that i heard alot of bad reviews turned out to be good places. Both Tony's and Sci fi. Like I said a little to much garlic in mash potatoes at Tony's but meat and sauce was great. The food at Sci-Fi was also good. Now if you want a high class dinner these are not your places but I guess I wasn't looking for the same quality as in Kona, but more a relax meal. I think that is what alot of negative comments come from. I feel we still got our moneys worth out of dining plan with some relax meals.

Opps adr for Sci-Fi was not at 2:00 but 5:45. That was way to much to get done from 8 am to 2 pm. Anyways working on update for 9/17. Also forgot to mention that while waiting at Sci-Fi made a ADR change. Will have to wait to hear why.

ok not about our Disney trip but something I thought some would get a good laugh at. Last night I was dreaming DH and me were waiting for a table at Yak and Yeti. Not that big of a deal. Except I was watching the time as I didn't want to be late for work. Now this wouldn't be so bad except I live over a day drive away. Wish I would have woke up enough to see time as my schedule changed and I'm working night shift after doing three open shifts.

So day two I woke up again around 5:30. So are plan is to go back to MK and start on other side.

We skip breakfast but do grab drinks. Made it before rope drop. Now DD tells me that the day before the sun had been bothering her and she wanted to get some sunglasses. Due to watching rope drop the day before we went to the stand selling glasses and ears. While DD is picking out her glasses I’m looking over the ears. We both end up getting a pair.

We didn’t take time to really watch rope drop but did sing along with it. I think we just wanted to get in the park.

So we walk down Main Street and decided to wait for the fairies for pics. While waiting there is a family behind us with the cutest little boy and girl. The girl is the oldest and is asking her mom for a toy. Her mom is trying to explain that she should wait till they leave park that way they wouldn’t have to carry it around or loose it. Well, DD ask me if she could give two of her pins away. I said sure . So we look over pins and find a tink pin and a peter pan pin and gave them to the kids. The girl put hers on her pants. It was so cute.

First Dh favorite Splash Mountain. Now I'm not sure what I was thinking this morning. I cant stand water in my eyes. I got wet and the first thing i do is push my eyes close. Umm I put on mascara and now had it all under my eyes. I love that DD did not take pic and that Disney had a restroom close by.

We shared the bread sticks they were not included in dining plan.


We both liked are lunch. Now I don’t know how I never picked up on DD logic in eating. She stopped half way threw her salad to eat her cake. I just figured the salad was to big and she wanted to make sure she left room for the cake. Then she surprised me when she finished cake she went back to finish salad. I was partly right she wanted to make sure she had room for the cake. She like it is chocolate.

Next up picked up a hitchhiker in Haunted mansion.

We walked around a bit more then went back to room for a rest/swim.

Tonight we had dinner adr for garden grill. I was already hurting from the day and was using my cane. This was one of the longest lines we had. The check in. I left DD to sign us in while I went and sat down. This was her birthday dinner. It was cute they had all in sunshine sing to her.

My favorite pic her is DD with Mickey.

After dinner we walked around world showcase. We grab some drinks and watched IllumiNation. DD had a Strawberry Oolong tea slushy. She said this was good. I don’t think I would have tried it but did taste and it was good. I had Mango Gingerita. This was good. Both drinks were from Joy of Tea Stand.

Tonight was emh for epcot. We were surprise that it seemed that a lot of the stores were closing up. So we went back to future world and rode soaring. Then we were tired so stopped at sunshine. DD thought I was crazy when I said we had to get the strawberry shortcake. After her first bite she understood to except my madness. What a way to end the night.


On ride back to resort ran into Tanz. We walked back to rooms together. Was fun hearing how excited she was. I was moving slow and tired don’t think I said much. Sorry about that Tanz. Was great seeing you that night.

Love the ears! Aaw that's sweet of DD to give away two pins to the little girl. I love getting wet on Splash Mountain but ended up staying dry...maybe we should have switched places! :laughing:

I have yet to try Pinocchio but have read good reviews of the place on here. I love DDs way of eating and laughed out loud on what she did! The only thing is I probably wouldn't want to return to a salad after having eaten cake!

I'm really happy DD had a blast on her birthday...love all the character pics though my fav has to be the one with Chip :thumbsup2 Yay on making sure you got the Strawberry Shortcake...I would have been the same!

It was great seeing you that night as well and you have nothing to apologise for...I was tired as well and didn't mind the slow walk back to the room at all.

I’m back. Sorry this is taking so long for updates. It looks like we are halfway done. I had to look back and to see where I left off. I can’t believe that I forgot about pin trading. When we stopped off at hotel the day before a nice CM stopped us to talk about the vaction homes. Well while he was talking I was checking out his pins. Now I bought some pins before trip and have been carrying them around with me., not doing anything with them. Well he has this

:woohoo: My first pin trade. Well he also talked me into doing the tour with two $15 gift cards. I knew I wouldn't be signing up. First, dh wasnt with me and second, I don't have the money, third, I don't make enough trips. I know this would mean I could make more trips, but I do want to visit other places.

So this morning we got up and went on tour. today we are suppose to meet up with dsil at dtd. I figured we would be done before she called. Nope she was on her way by the time we got back to hotel. Not sure why I don't have more pics. We walk around and ate at wgp. This time I had the Spaghetti & Meatballs - tomato-basil-garlic sauce and fresh herbs $16 with the Creme Brulee $6 I dont have pic and dont remember what dd ate. I will say the meatballs are very good.

Sortly after we ate dd asked how long we had to stay. She wanted to get to MK before dinner at Kona. So I nicely said we needed to run. And off to Mk.

Ok, First sorry no update. I know its been to long.

Second, For sons Disneymoon, it has been up and down. It is a go. Will give more details later. His Bride to be is so excited. Just wish she had a little more faith that yes all my planning does need to be done.

Third, Why this picture? My DD has a little Simba in her. Ok not Simba but a baby. I just got hit this morning with memories of our trip. First was this picture, she doesnt know sex of baby but is already nickname is Simba. So this picture is priceless. (Oh and she is due about same time this pic was taken. Second, she asked alot what is good age to bring a baby to WDW. She must have thought 5 right before they start school. (Not here to debate this is what she is thinking.)

I do need to finish this tr. Not that I have many readers but I want the memories recorded.

Just an FYI, I am reading and can't wait to hear more. Congrats on your grandbaby. I think you said your DD was 18 at the time you went on your trip which would mean she will have her baby at 19? If I am correct that was how old I was when I had my wonderful son. I still say 19 was one of the best years of my life cuz I was pregnant most of it and was given the greatest blessing in the world, my baby boy.
