Hi I am Pat. Pat the Poolrat.
This is my second TR. The first year long epic TR can be found HERE (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2555573)
I am a new DVC owner, even though this trip was at All Star Sports. I had this trip booked with a great pin code and my DVC did not close until early Sept.
This trip was the finish line of sorts to a year of change. The last post of the last report explains most of it so I will make you read that instead of rehashing it here.
I made a decision last year to run the 5K. I had been wanting to shed some baby weight, now that my babies are grown, and when another Diser announced she was going to run to help get the baby weight off I was intrigued. Now I am a swimmer as the name implies. I work in aquatics and have been plagued with bad knees for most of my life. I have never run more that 2 miles EVER before and I thought if I have almost 12 months to train why not?
Having an annual conference for the World Waterpark Association in New Orleans from Oct 3-7 made it sort of natural to "piggyback" again and go early to Disney and then head to the conference.
Add the 40th anniversary and well I have a special trip in store.

Sit back and enjoy the ride.

We were there for the 40th, too !! I have lurked on your other TR for a while now. I actually reference you in my current trip report. It comes in on day 5 which I have all typed up in Word, but I haven't posted yet. I will PM you when I post it :) I hope you had a good 5K. I have been wanting to try that myself and I need to lose some baby (or two) weight myself. Looking forward to reading more !!!

Trip dates Sept 26- Oct 3
Staying at All Star Sports – A first for me.
Leaving from Greenville – Spartanburg SC via Southwest.
Mon Sept 26th – a regular day of work but going in to tie up loose ends.
When I planned the trip I started on Friday Sept 30th and worked backwards. I wanted some time for Food and Wine before the crazy first weekend.
That added Thursday so I would have all day Friday. Then I wanted some time with low crowds so I added Tuesday and Wednesday. With the conference the next week I stopped there. Almost 2 weeks away is enough.
Usually I fly AirTran out of Charlotte but Southwest added Greenville Spartanburg last March. Couple that with a SW anniversary sale that landed me a $40.00 flight to MCO and I was there.:cool1:
My flight to New Orleans was $80 and then home was slightly more do to the indirect route through Baltimore.
Flight time was 10 am . I literally had to drive PAST the Charlotte Airport on the way to Greenville.
I was up early, out the door by 6:23 am and had everything packed.
I left as soon as DS left for school, yes he leaves that early every day!!!
1 suitcase with WDW stuff and Running stuff, 1 smaller suitcase with NOL stuff, including a dress for the session I was speaking in, and instead of a backpack to carry the computer, I just brought the smallest Disney roller suitcase to save my back.
I tell you this only because along the way it becomes a bit significant.
I had no traffic, manage to get cheap gas in SC and breakfast about ½ hour outside the airport. I arrive and park in the economy lot at about 8:30 am. The Long term lot if you will.
The Lot was crowded but thankfully not full.

The car gets parked and the sunshade gets put up. Now I try and tackle the bags. Hmmmm 3 bags that all roll and 2 hands with which to roll them. This could get interesting. I did not have a free hand to get a picture or I would have. :lmao:
I have 2 royal blue Disney bags with a Mickey head on the front pocket. They were a sale purchase from the Disney Store and the little red bag was the promotional bag I picked up in Sept.
Both my Royal Blue bags have a loop and buckle to attach a smaller bag to so that is what I did. I was able to attach the smallest red bag to the bigger Royal blue bag.
Now I wish I had video of this process and the subsequent attempt to roll the bags. You see, I had to get all three bags out, all which were top heavy and fell forward when I stood them up. I needed to close the back hatch to the van and NOT lock my keys inside and then configure the mess so I could get to the terminal.
Then again if I had video it would mean that I had help doing this which would mean I would not need to do it at all. Obviously I survived the situation, but it also comes up 3 more times before I get to back to this spot and my car at the end of the trip.
But alas I am getting ahead of myself.
Ok back to the car. The hatch is shut, keys in my purse – yeah I had that too but it was small park bag not the big mommy purse so that actually worked.
I lean small blue bag against the car take the tiny red bag and attach it to the big blue bag AND have to extend the handle and lean the bag back to balance. Then I get to extend the small blue bag and configure my self and the bags so I am either pushing 1 and pulling one 1 or pulling both without catching my toes or bumping my heels. :headache:
Try it, I dare you. It takes talent.
Now I look around after this magic trick to find a shuttle stop. There is always a shuttle to the main terminal right?
I look left. I look right. I see someone walking. YOU MEAN I HAVE TO WALK TO THE TERMINAL????
Crap. Well on the good side, how was I going to get this mess in the shuttle anyway?
Being the planner I am, the map of the airport show the Economy lot across from the daily lot and the daily lot is just across a small road. According to the map the terminal is next to the daily lot.
Now in Charlotte the map shows this too but in reality there is even a shuttle from the daily lot to the terminal. I was a bit worried but hoped if anything, the training for the 5K might aid in this epic journey.
I trudge myself and my load of Disney luggage out through the exit lane and cross the small street.
There is no sidewalk so I look around and yep there is a sidewalk on the OTHER side. I am not crossing back.
I walk a short distance to the end of the Daily lot building, about the distance of 1 block in DHS from the Crossroads at the entrance to Sunset Blvd. I get to the corner and look both ways. To my left and towards the Economy lot, I see a path into the parking lot that connects to the sidewalk I should have taken. Next time, right?
To my right I see a sidewalk and another building in the not too far distance.. The terminal!!! YAY I can see it and it does not appear to be THAT far. Again using a reference everyone can probably relate to, The distance from the bus lot to bag check at EPCOT. But You are not staying at POP or All Stars so the walk is a bit shorter, like from POR stop let’s say.
I might be using the pull – push method to get to the terminal over the sidewalk … cracks and unevenness and all. Luckily, it is not cold or raining and I duck in the first door I see and SW is right there. Thanks goodness for small airports.
I get right up to the counter to release my bags and lighten the load. They are both way underweight so I am glad to learn I can bring home plenty of stuff and I leave with my now printed A boarding pass. :cool1:
I am directed up an escalator and this is where I find security. Again no line and I get my items organized and pass through security easily.
Then what do I see? Another escalator up. I finally reach the departure part of the terminal but I find that a bit odd. Not one but two escalators with security in the middle.
I find my gate
http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee404/patdaly725/Disney%20Oct%2011/Tuesday%20Sept%2026/P9265776.jpg
Oddly enough it is the same gate letter andclose to the gate number I mostly flew out of in Charlotte. I am able to get my laptop out and DIS for a bit.
As the time draws near, I visit the restroom and I am officially on vacation. I am in the land of automatics again. Auto Flush, water and towels, and even auto soap but that resulted in some misfires and while staring at the white liquid soap in the sink instead of in my hands just made me giggle. Then shake my head, then giggle again.:sad2: :rotfl:
Probably about 20 minutes before my flight was due to take off, the plane came in, people got off and we got on. We left. I found it incredibly fast and dare I say efficient?
Follow me to Orlando!

I actually used all of my Disney Clothes except for the extra running outfit I packed, just in case. As for my Conference clothes, the pants came back home unused along with a pair of shorts. I bring capri's but prefer shorts unless the conference rooms are freezing, which they were but not enough for pants. We are water people, shorts without holes are business casual.:lmao:

Too funny about the luggage trek. :rotfl:
I bet you were glad that Disney puts your suitcases into your room and you didn't have to mess with them again once you hit Orlando.
I too realized on this trip the benifits of packing light...we went with 3 full suitcases & 3 carryons and came home with 3 extra bags.
Yes, I did alot of shopping.
Next time I will not bring so much.

your luggage struggles remind me of our hawaii trip
http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/af202/daniksch11/89d3a450.jpg
we had the two large checked bags...three rolling luggage for carry on.
plus three personal large bags.
so it was pretty much parker rolling his one bag
(he would get tired and hand it off to me.)
candi would roll two and carry her personal bag.
that left me with two rollers with one suitcase on top of the roller(parkers once he got tired of it, and my laptop bag over my shoulder, and parkers bookbag on back.
gotta love travel times.
:rotfl:
it was really intersteing when we arrived at the hotel with all of that.
plus we stopped for grocerys, and had about 6 bags of stuff.
the bellman looked at me with sympathy and said ill get the cart.
i was glad to have him take it all up and tip the man...he earned it.
i bet it would be fun to sit outside the airport and take pictures of people struggling to get all there stuff inside with them.

I muttered those words at least once if not twice. Once as I landed in New Orleans and once schlepping my bags and knocking things down when trying to get my luggage checked in leaving New Orleans and THEN having to schlep it over to the Drop off spot. Another reason I  Disney.

I had a scary but then funny moment in the rain today.
Driving to get lunch and I will admit, going a bit fast and I was distracted by "something " hanging from my antennae- flopping int he breeze and the truck in front of me, without turning on a signal decide to stop and then turn.
Well I slam on the brakes and I mean slam. The ABS kicks in and because I am old and learned to drive without ABS I start to release and then realize I need to step down again. I come to a stop, I skid a tiny bit but never left my lane or hit anything.
My first thought...
Yay the ABS actually worked!!!!

I really had to give some thought to my plan of attack witht he luggage.:rotfl:
School starts at 7:15am. Chris could get away with probably leaving at 6:40 or so but then everyone else is leaving and he sits in traffic. He opts to leave about the same time the bus would pick up and then he can park and take his time getting inthe building. I find him alseep onthe couch most days when I come home. He takes a little nap when gets home to offset the early wake up time.
The auto soap in the airport is what made me giggle a bit. Not exactly accurate.

Ok I realize I did not quite get you to ME yet. I left you standing in Greenville on the tarmac.
Sorry for the delay folks we will be underway shortly.
Wheels up right on time. One thing about SW I love is the lack of the aisle blocking drink cart. They come around take your order and then come back with your drink and rarely spill it on you.
Now I did mention it was 10:15 AM right? 2 guys in front of me order drinks with drink tickets. One of them orders Wild Turkey. When our attendant comes back I can smell the liquor and it is burning my nose hairs. Or is the woman 1 row up and across the aisle who is sanitizing everything? The tray, the edges, the seatback , the latch her seatmate- no not really but you get the idea right?
The sanitizer lady has the book "The Help" out so the Flight Attendant and her talk about the book for a while and then the FA talks to the drinking men. She made the comment about the Wild Turkey burning her nose hairs so I wasn’t dreaming. Then they get talking on how she is learning to drink scotch. Mainly because it has less calories than wine.
I do laugh out loud and get in on that conversation.
Wheels touch at 11:22. I actually attempted to write it down as the wheels touched because I can barley read it.
Off the plane from row 5 and my 1 small bag.

I actually get teary thinking back to that moment.
In the world outside Disney – those moments are rare. Once you land at MCO and get near the ME they start happening one after the other and I guess it gets a little overwhelming at first.

Shorty, but not quickly, I am on my way to my room. When I booked I made no requests. I usually request top floor so I reduce the amount of noise from showers, toilets and other people. No swimming building other than Surf’s Up so I figured Other than football I really didn’t care. I don’t hate football but for some reason it was in my head. No football.

It was similar to POP and it was nice.
It really served its purpose and the water noise issue was not really significant.
On the negative side, everytime I turned on the bathroom light it let out this hideous buzzing noise. Between that and the bathroom fan rattling shower time was noisy.
It was fine for just me, but I am looking forward to DVC. I think the deluxe studio wil spoil me for sure since the only other times we stayed deluxe we as a family.
Oh...and it's Saturday......
So much for being on Monday - Tuesday and Wednesday huh?
I heard your plea for Target purchases but I really have several close by so I don't do Target.com often. Maybe I will start. Just to help you out. :rolleyes1

The deluxe studios ARE nice. After spending years in Deluxe or DVC accommodations, I thought the values would be a disappointment. Wrong.
It's more about being on-property than anything else. That being said, I :love::love: any DVC room so if anyone's willing to have a sweaty Asian campout on their floor.....just sayin.
Yeah, my roommate and I carpool to work and he usually works much later than I do. I'm "forced" to head to the nearest place that has free wi-fi (Remke in this case) and hangout for an hour or two or four........so the upside of having to wait is a bit of extra time on the DIS.

I agree completely. I have stayed at everything but DVC until now. I am missing a few deluxe resorts like the Poly, GF, YC ( done BC). At least for now I am only doing a studio. I hear a one-bedroom really spoils you.
As for Values I really like POP best. Centrally located and for the time being no bus sharing. The building configuartion is a bit better and there is just a different vibe there.
Sports was chosen 1) because if a never done and 2) I got a tip the Sports was the better of the 3 since it was first on and first off in regards to busses. Frequently we had our own bus so it did not matter but the first on and first off made a difference.
Hey I would let you sleep onthe floor but isn't there always at least a pull out? You can have that. :lmao:

I totally understand your situation with the bags. I've had to carry around just as many bags, maybe bigger and it is truly a balancing act. I don't know how it's even humanly possible to maneuver those many bags along trying to do a bunch of other things like you did. That's insane! And when you had to walk to the terminal, yikes, but it did give you a nice workout for your race haha

http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/af202/daniksch11/89d3a450.jpg
we had the two large checked bags...three rolling luggage for carry on.
plus three personal large bags.
so it was pretty much parker rolling his one bag
:lmao: I remember seeing that and thinking how in the world did they take all that with them?!? And they're going to have a baby! Imagine what that's going to look like! :scared1:  I'm with Pat, once the kiddos are old enough to schlep their own stuff around that's what they did. Mackenzie had her own little tiny backpack that had her sippy cup, diapers or pulls-ups when the time came, wipies, and anything else she might have needed or wanted. She carried it around so I didn't have to carry a diaper bag any longer than I had to. Dan, did y'all really end up using all that stuff or need it in the end? No, really? I'm not trying to be a smart butt.
I'm tired just reading your story...I need to sit down.....okay..much better.
I know, right?!? So glad your around, Jordy.
The second thought...
That was just like in Test Track. :sad2: :lmao:

Pat, I love that this trip has been good for you so far. I've been wondering....why haven't you been staying in the DVC places? Good TR, by the way. :thumbsup2
This trip was already booked before I bought DVC. My use year is Oct and the contract I bought actually had 2010 point with it. As I was scrambling to close in early Sept. I kept thinking the points would have to be used. I called before I had my member number I was calling MS and with F&W and the Half and 5K and the 40th.... there were no DVC rooms to be had. :lmao: For what I had heard, the rules were I HAD to use the point before they expired since the banking window had passed BUT depending on who I got and when I actually closed I could beg for a late banking and MAYBE get it.
Luckily once a MS-CM could see my contract she immediately offered to bank my point and even without thinking I said YES.
Reality was that I had such a killer pin code that I was reluctant to give it up . :lmao:
That coupled with needing transportation to the 5K, I was limited on DVC to BC, BW ( not going to happen with F&W) and OKW.
My room ended up being anywhere from $55 to $68 depending on the day of the week (Tu,W, Th being the cheapest F, SA the most expensive and SU being on Oct a different "season")
Since I was able to bank, I had points to burn for the NYE trip so the first 3 days use up the banked points and I still have 47 left in the current year.
Now do I bank or take a F&G trip? :lmao:

I have had some great ME drivers. The excitement level of everyone arriving is so high they drivers taking you on property really have to go over the top.
They can do the same schtick every ride and for those on the bus it is the first time they hear it. :lmao: ( unless we frequent flyers get repeat driver)
They all know when the video starts and proabably to amuse themselves more they play with that.
That is the key to good customer service. The employee HAS to genuinely enjoy themselves too. Then providing good service is easy.
Truthfully that is one of the reasons I opt to fly instead of drive. Leaving my bags at the airport and not having to lug them again until I get home and getting a fun ride from the airport.

Finally! At 12:37 I am staring at the entrance to MK.
Now about that ticket I grabbed. During the Side Effect year, I had a free dining trip. You had to buy a 2 day ticket. I bought one for Chris and myself and upgraded his to 8days with hopping. We also have some 10 day WPM no expiration passes which for that trip held his DQ passes. I held onto my 2 day basic ticket for this moment.
I did what all good DISers do and used the ticket to activate it for the current price and then went to guest services to upgrade. I got a young CM who was a bit confused as to what to do.
He had to take my pass and upgrade it to an annual pass with the DVC discount. This apparently was not as easy as it seemed. The new rule about upgrading it within 14 days was an issue but it was unused until today. He got some help and we got it done. Then the experienced CM realized something as it was printing.
The expiration date would be 1 year from the original date of the original ticket. Sept 11 2010. Yup already expired.
Luckily he thought of it and looked for it. So another transaction to fix that ticket and finally at 1pm I am stepping out of Guest Services.
Not upset at all and like I commented to the young CM, I was glad I gave him the opportunity to learn something new. ;)
This year it would be Pluto.

It seemed rather complicated and I know they had to go to muliple screens to accomplish this.
Apparently what we had were not "regular" transactions. :lmao: Adding in the DVC discount was also interesting since it was somewhere deep in the program.
My guy at Mk realized as soon as they pushed the button. Once it came out he checked. He was really good about making the newbie do the transaction and watching him along the way to help if needed. He could have easily just told him to step away and do it himself but he provided some training during a "teachable moment". :goodvibes

Maybe you can answer a question about upgrading?
I currently have AP's for all of us that expire next Sept.
I will have 2 sets of 2day tickets for each of us by next August.
Can you add the two together to go towards another AP?

As for the upgrade - I am positive you can take 1 set and use it towards the upgrade. The experienced CM asked my specifically if it was a renewal or a new AP. If you are within 30 days of renewal you can renew instead of buy new for a lower rate.
I am not sure if you can take both sets of tickets and apply them to the AP. I say bring them and try it. Worst case they say only 1 set and then you have another unsused set to upgrade later.

I read they were closing it but hopefully they are just renovating the space. Maybe they consolidated the items with the Emporium to save staff time.
I always love it when I "stump" the staff. It seems like I always have that unusual problem that tales a special person to figure out. I am glad about the way it was handled and being on the other side of those issues sometimes, I realize it is a learning experience for the staff.
Now I had an experience in Michael's yesterday that was equally as special and it took some time to work out but in the end it was worked out. I will admit it wasn't as easy and I wasn't really sure if it would get worked out. My problem was simple but because of the computer POS system they use, it became difficult.
The difference was while standing in GS I knew it would get worked out, it was just a matter of finding someone to push the right buttons. :goodvibes

Maybe you can answer a question about upgrading?
I currently have AP's for all of us that expire next Sept.
I will have 2 sets of 2day tickets for each of us by next August.
Can you add the two together to go towards another AP?
Equals out to 4days each. :confused3
They'll only let you use one ticket towards the renewal or purchase of a pass. Been there, done that ;)

Pop is still your favorite. Trust me. :lmao:
The AoA will be nice but the powers that be at Disney have caught on and Pop as well as AoA are now higher than All Stars.
I will have to stay there someday , if only for a weekend night or two.
Pull out couch has to be more comfortable than say - the floor in EE. :lmao:
Hmmm...Pop more expensive....I'm becoming quite the master of creative budgeting so All Stars might get a visit from the Sweaty Asian...;)
I can sleep ANYWHERE and sadly, I probably have slept pretty much every and anywhere...:)

Not upset at all and like I commented to the young CM, I was glad I gave him the opportunity to learn something new. ;)
Did you hear that noise?
It was the sound of my brain exploding.

:rotfl2: I remember that picture. I know you know sort of how I felt. At least you could have Candi watch the bag while you ... lets say go to the bathroom. I have some more adventures with the bags later on and I can luckily I am a planner. :thumbsup2
well the two big bags had most of our clothes with a few of parkers then you have parkers book bag for stuff to do and keep him busy while at the hotel room or on the airplane for the 9 hours each way. candis bag with stuff for us to do on the plan, the one red bag on the seat was all of my electronics. but we pretty much needed everything (it was 17 days total we were gone) and we did laundry at my sister in laws place as well to not bring as many clothes.

I guess I'll have to be happy with using one set and the other won't go to waste....it may make more sense for me to not get the AP again then.

:lmao:
:faint: I dont' think I'm understanding the words that are coming out of your mouth, I'm pretty sure you were talking english. As it turns out....it's all Greek to me!

The castle was longer that I was expecting but cute. The area is off to the right before the bridge to Adventureland. I think it probably has always been there but so easy to walk by.
I like Kathy's sundress too.
Yes you will be small enough to wear one next time. :goodvibes
The fairies are just over the bridge in Adventureland to the right before the Dole whip stand. It looked like a building facade but perhaps even used to a reatuarant back in the day.

Nope. I have been in the world 2 hours and already broke the rule.
Would that be a mistake? :confused3
I continue through Adventureland and make sure to stop here.

I must see the new old show. But I just missed one. Let me circle around and try to time it better.
I must have checked Jungle cruise and found a line longer than I wanted to wait or something because I went here instead.

I think it only serves until 2 because it looked like they had just gotten done with lunch. No one at the registers and the fixings bar was bare.
I did want to mention that I did have a mission in mind as it seemed like I wandered aimlessly through MK.
Where to and what was my mission?

Nice pictures on POTC. Since our last trip, I bought a new lens which is supposed to help with those low-light situations. But it doesn't zoom, so that's a big trade-off. Some day I'll see how it works on POTC.

Mine is a actually a P&S but it is pretty big. It is a Canon Powershot SX30 IS with a 35X zoom. The zoom is what sold me. Playing around with the some of the manual type settings as I learn is helping. Not being able to zoom is a big trade off. At least for me.

A few people get on, including a mother and son who sit in the back. Once the bus gets moving they break out lunch. Sushi I think. The bus driver says something but they keep eating.
Once we get off the bus, Mom at least throws away the trash but then lights up a cigarette after stopping right in the main path. Lady you are NOT the only in the World. Look around.

At the end of every parade at MK at least, I always watch them break it down. One person unhooks the rope. The second person pulls the stanchion pole. The third person replaces the little round thing in the hole and the last person is winding up all the rope. It is a fascinating process and very efficient.
I need to get video of it. Still pictures never work and don’t do the process justice.

It may be hard to believe but they actually looked hotter and sweatier than how they appeared inthe pictures. Everytime they would sweep their arms, they would wipe their brow. Thanks. By mistake huh? I have " walked in" on a parade many times. Me Dec Trip withthe girls we seemed to do that a lot. Either great luck or horrible luck depending on how you look at it.

Thanks for the compliment and yes that princess is stunning. How she pulls off looking "cool" I have no idea. Of couse she is riding and and not dancing down the street but still she looks great despite the heat.

I saw someone around here post that pretzel so I had to hunt one down. :lmao:
My camera is a canon power shot SX30 IS, 14 Mp and a 35X zoom. I got it for the zoom and good reviews. The mage stab. and the extra weight of the camera actually makes it easier to hole it steady.
MEK put a tip on her TR about playing around with the TV setting and it has helped me take better shots in the dark.
That is the first mickey pretzel I have ever seen! Is that possible? It's so cute, even if it doesn't taste any different.
This is also the first time I have seen the Grand Marshall's car. Cool. I want to ride in that!!!!!
Wonderful parade pictures. They are so clear and so close. Love them!

As I was watching I noticed after a while that all girls had the same hair style. Then it dawned on me that they are all wearing wigs.
I noticed that too, and thought their hair was super cute!
These guys were HOT and sweaty

Ugh....I can't even begin to think how hot! I always feel bad for the performers, the extras who dance and whatnot. But then I see Beast and I have to wonder if there's some sort of air conditioning contraption in there?
At the end of every parade at MK at least, I always watch them break it down. One person unhooks the rope. The second person pulls the stanchion pole. The third person replaces the little round thing in the hole and the last person is winding up all the rope. It is a fascinating process and very efficient.
I need to get video of it. Still pictures never work and don’t do the process justice.
This is something I find really cool too. I think it satisfies my OCD! :rotfl:

I have never seen it since I never seemed to catch the beginning of the parade. I don't know if it is new or not.:confused3

I  my new camera.
I noticed that too, and thought their hair was super cute!
That is what caught my eye- that I liked the style and I guess I wondered how it held up in that heat. Then I realized that all the girls had nice hair and then it dawned on me.... They all have the same hair and it is a wig. :upsidedow

I have heard like the racecar drivers they have a "cool "suit. A suit with tubing and cold water running through it.
This is something I find really cool too. I think it satisfies my OCD! :rotfl:
I bet there are so many people who don't even notice that once the end of the parade goes by all the stanchions and ropes that took hours to set up are just .... gone.

All the pic in low light and the safari were taken with that camera. Compared to the old canon I had, a smaller sure shot, along with playing with some of the settings, blows my old one away.
If you look at the pictures in the Side effect report all those were with the old camera or the waterproof Olympus which actually did better in low light but most of the pictures are grainy or noisy in camera speak.
I saw reviews too that the regular auto mode produced some blurrier shots so they recommend using the portrait mode to help with that.
I am such a crappy photographer. I had a really hard time holding the camera steady while I took the picture. My friends on the NYE trip kept making fun of me since most of pictures were blurry. I think some of that was due to the size. The lighter the camera, the harder it for me to hold it still.
I really like this camera. I stalked it online until I found a great sale. :thumbsup2

They were at the cart near where Frontier Donald meets and greets. It is probably really close to Liberty Square since one area blends into another over therre.

The new area is nice but you still can't help "rush" to get to the ride. I will admit, I did crouch down to get the words, but I swiveled instead of scooting over to line each one up. I heard there was some murder mystery type thing with the busts but never heard anything more or saw anything to make me look further.

I hope you enjoy it. I enjoy mine. Since it is a bit bigger - camera strap big it did get heavy but I just adjusted the strap further back to distribute the weight better. I never brought the case. It was easier to leave it hanging than my small one that only had a wrist strap. Unless my head falls off I am not dropping the camera. :lmao:

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I think I just got an A in enabling.
:lmao:
I did get an extra battery at Batteries plus ( Much cheaper ) The battery will last most of the day but you know how long I go. I made it easy on 2 batteries and that was going rope drop to park close.
Enjoy and I hope to see some of those pictures. :thumbsup2
:lmao: Yes you get an A in enabling. Yes it is a little bulky but I love that 35X zoom!!
I hope the battery lasts me. I will charge it up while at the pool in the afternoon.
You can sub to my TR when we get back!!:)

Good luck with ROFR. I'm sure it'll go through. ;)

I'm impressed that you rode IASW of your own volition. I've ridden it 3 times as an adult: once with my friend Erin who had never been to Disney before, once with my friend Erica after about 3 sangrias at Hoop Dee Doo Revue and splitting a Lapu Lapu at the Poly lounge (on which occasion I dozed off during the ride), and once with Seth for obvious reasons. That ride is what my nightmares are made of. Luckily this last trip I was so distracted by watching Seth enjoy it that I was able to tune out the repetitive music and creepy dolls! :lmao:

I find much more interesting things.

I see you have been on the ROFR thread. Yes I has addonitis already. For about the last 2 weeks I have had that sense to check the resales and one came up in the same use year, for the right amount. I just signed and sent everything back so I am less anxious than last time since I have plenty of time to use the points.

:lmao::lmao: I wanted to see how the "backwards queue" was working and once a trip I can take. Now if I was stuck or had to go around again.... I might just swim for it. :rotfl: This time I was focused on trying to take pictures that were not a big blur so I guess I tuned out the repetitive music. The creepy dolls on most occassions don't bother me... now watcch me have nightmares tonight.
Now about your second trip through the canal with Erica, good thing you just dozed off and didn't lose it overboard. :lmao:

After I saw yours on that thread I looked at a couple of sites and there is an AKL one up for sale with our use year for a bargain basement price. They must really want to sell. Unfortunately, it's a few more points than I'd want to add-on, aaaand we're looking at starting 10 years of college tuition next fall. :headache: Otherwise, it'd be verrrry tempting.

I have been blessed with a few extra pennies and thankfully the college fund is holding steady. Some of those contracts are really a bargain and it seems like most things ( BCV and OKW are the exceptions) are going right through. I offered a bunch lower than asking but I didn't bottom it out because of ROFR. I offered in the middle of what was passing.

:rotfl2: I remember that. A slow moving rocking boat will lull you to sleep too if it weren't for those dolls. :lmao: You must have been pretty zapped to take your eyes off thse dolls.
Cute tatoo! :lmao: We had an airbrush tatoo guy as a vendor at out conference and during the reception ( with drinks ) I ended up with a dolphin. :rotfl2: And no there are not pictures, that I know of. :lmao:

I opted for the train at first totally forgetting it would take me to Main street. I was hoping the path to Tomorrowland was still open but no such luck.
Since Of course I just missed a train, I looked around as I waited.

My train arrived and as we chugged through Frontierland, we still made a stop by the Toontown station. No doubt to preserve the timing of the other trains.
It did give me time to look around.

I looked at my watch and realized it was 5:00pm. It was time for the Flag ceremony. Score I walked right into this one.
Of course still pictures don’t do it justice but imagine the band playing God Bless America, and the slow drum roll as the flag is being lowered.

That's what we've been told on several occasions.
I always like to watch the people around me as they watch the very moving flag ceremony. The ones who have done service or have someone in the service seem to be easy to spot. They have a certain extra aura of reverence about them.
I wish the Tiana 'showboat show' was still going on. It was so fun and colorful and lively. The music was awesome, too!
Big Thunder Mount-in, as Brooklynn says, was one of our last rides of the October trip. She loves the ride but hates the noise.
Won't it be great when the new part of Fantasyland opens and we have thousands of new photo ops??? :woohoo:

The Verizon Mobile magic app actually had it listed in the events or show section so I got a heads up when I entered the park earlier that day. Totally slipped my mind, as even the time of day does, so when I stepped off the train came down the stairs and saw the unusual formation I had to think a minute.
I am very glad I stumbled on it and the crowd that gathered were all taken wth the ceremony and so quiet the only sound you heard was the music and the commands of the ceremony itself. :goodvibes

I am kind of sad the Showboat is no more. All the clacking on BTMRR is noisy. I am not real fond of it either.

The 3 o'clock parade, the 4:45 train (which includes the 5 o'clock flag ceremony). I think I'm seeing a trend here.
Hey, from the artists rendering of the new Fantasyland it looks like the crowds won't be too bad! :thumbsup2
