I think I already know the answer but I'm really hoping someone will tell me what I want to hear. I've heard non-US citizens need to get up at some ungodly hour (5:30 am rings a bell) for customs clearance. I can live with that but let me tell you, my 3 1/2 YO is a very scary creature at that time of the morning. I guess it's too much to hope that my husband and I could take turns going to customs and I could pick up her passport for her and she could still sleep. :earseek: :earseek:

Too much to hope for :)

All non-US citizens, regardless of age, must appear in person for immigration clearance.

WOW I was unaware of this procedure for us Canadians. Can you fill me in? When is this?? I'd like to be prepared!!

All passengers (U.S. citizens included) are required to report for Immigration inspection at St. Thomas on the Eastern Caribbean itinerary. All non-U.S. citizens are required to report for Immigration inspection on all itineraries upon return to Port Canaveral.

We also have a daughter that was 3 at the time and is not a morning person. My husband picked her up out of bed (still in her PJ's) and carried her to customs. She was not a happy camper! My husband said "those customer officers, they are the ones that are making you get up at this ridiculous hour not me, so be grumpy to them!!!", (he said it is a joking tone of voice) we had a lot of chuckles in the line. Needless to say, they just whiped us through so she could go back to bed!! We are going again Dec. 03 - she should be a little better this time, as she is 2 years older.

Every cruise I have been on, it was at 6 am (yawn!) and saw many kids sleeping on Dad's shoulders in their jammies. We would get there right at 6 and scoot through and then go back to bed!

Yes, it's on the ship. Usually in one of the theaters. They'll put a note in your cabin the night before telling you when and where to report to :)

Yikes...that sounds awful for anyone travelling with small children.

Anyhow...I'm going western carribean...does this mean we'll miss the early wake-up -pick-up...(crossing my fingers)

I believe on the Western, you'll only have to go through this process once - on the morning you arrive back to Port Canaveral.

Yes, Doucia, Julie is right, I just got off the Western and the only time we have to do this, is on disembarkation day to pick up our passports. It is usually in Rockin' Bar D.

Have a great time, we loved the Western itinerary!!
