I know this is a "none of your business" question but I am expecting my first child in April and have no choice but to continue working full-time. How much should I expect home child care (rather than a child care center) to cost per day/week? And if there are any home daycare providers on the Boards, how much do you charge per day/week for a 2 month old infant? Thanks!

I am lucky to have found a WONDERFUL sitter. She is the best I could have ever asked for.

With that said I do not mind telling that I currently pay $110.00 per week for my 16 mo DS. When DD was there part time it was $180 per week.

Again, I am very fortunate to have found a wonderful lady to be my children's "second mommy".

I hope this helps. Good luck and don't worry you get used to being without the kiddies during the day.:)

We ended up putting DS in a center because I felt most comfortable there but we did look at home daycare and most of the quotes were in the $110-140 range per week for a newborn.

Good luck! Making a childcare decision is a very difficult thing to do and I know just how stressful it can be.

I just realized that I put newborn but that was actually the quote for a 3 month old and would have been the price per week until DS was at least 1-2.

I charge $20 a day for the two children I watch during the day. One I only have Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday and the other one I have 5 days a week. I dont charge them on the days I dont have them-do that b/c I like the freedom of not having them on the days I need to go to the doctor or do something. -- It works both ways I guess it what I am saying.

My brothers long time girlfriend babysits in our home... a wonderful thing (as long as she's on time, and I'm not late!) And since my son was 9 weeks old, I've paid 125 per week, plus 25 per week for gas, since she is coming to my house. Well worth it to me. I do not pay for dates she dosen't sit, due to our schedule or hers... but we do give her 5 paid personal days per year as an incentive. We want to try to make this have some perks.

Hate to say it, its about $200 a week here... for in home.. a woman up the street charges per month, and its $800 something per month.. and that is for 2-5 year olds...

I would guess higher for less than 2.
