Winchester Cathedral
You're bringin' me down
You stood there and watched as
My baby left town

You could've done something
But you didn't try
You didn't do nothing
You let her walk by

Now everyone knows just how much I need her, that girl (are you that girl)
She wouldn't have gone far away if only you'd started ringing your bell

Winchester Cathedral
You're bringin' me down
You stood there and watched as
My baby left town

I remember! We played it at our 5th grade party. A 45 record on a phonograph. Soooooooo long ago!!

The lead singer sings the song through a megaphone (or at least it sounds that way). I've got a copy of that 45 around here somewhere.

I was going to post a link to the 30 second sound clip on one of the CD purchasing sites, but I listened to it and it was a remake of the original. And not a very good remake at that.

I remember a parody of the song that was popular in Cleveland back in the sixties entitled "Winchester Kielbasa".

Winchester Kielbasa
You're bringing me down.
With pepper and garlic,
My stomach goes round.

(Thankfully, I don't remember the rest)

I remember my sister having a Petula Clark album with that song on it. :teeth:
