i really didnt/dont know much about Disney, except what ive learned stalking these boards, and we winged it on our trip!
and it turned out pretty well i think!

We went to WDW from September 16th to the 26th, and stayed at port orleans Riverside. Also went with free dining, but upgraded to DELUXE.

This was my first trip with my husband,
my first trip since 1987, when i was 4. so, pretty much my first trip.
My husband's last trip was 1986, and he cant remember much of it except for 20,000 leagues under the sea.
which i broke to him gently that it was no longer there.

So this is me:

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160210.jpg

We are from Appleton WI. yes i like the packers. yes, cheese is a food group to me.
I am a CMA at a doctors office so i draw blood, give shots, room patients, and take abuse. i really love my job!

Ive wanted to go to Disney for awhile now. No real reason. Looked and sounded fun. When I started looking into it i couldnt believe how much was actually INVOLVED in booking a trip to WDW.
decided to go in september 2011 because we would be celebrating our FIVE YEAR wedding anniversary! yay!
i booked my trip at about 390 days out and the wait was pretty painful, to say the least.

This is my husband Tim:
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9150185.jpg

hes pretty awesome. he knows it. He is in a union. builds powerplants. loves the packers. will pretty much roll with anything if it makes me happy. hes a great guy. His favorite Disney animated movie is WALL-E and live action movie is the BLACK HOLE. he loves comics and video games.

so we had our flight leaving appleton at 530. plan was to be up at 4 am, and taxi would be at the house at 420.
WHO SLEEPS BEFORE A TRIP!?
seriously.
tim had the camera next to him that morning and this is what he took
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9150153.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9150154.jpg

then i checked off the last day of my countdown and tim brought out the luggage to the living room

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9150161.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9150158.jpg

i sat and waited for the taxi that wasnt there yet

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9150166_2.jpg

and tim read a graphic novel (which my bf from grade school wrote, shameless plug, check it out!!!!! picket line by breena wiederhoeft!!!)

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9150165.jpg

Misc. airport pictures:
putting shoes back on! love the TSA!

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9150168.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9150173.jpg

Layover was in Chicago. got to go under the pretty neon lights

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9150179.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9150176.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9150175.jpg

Pretty uneventful flight. i did word search and fell asleep for 30 minutes.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9150188.jpg

We landed in Orlando. Can you tell ive been waiting awhile to get the HECK OFF THE PLANE! wow. slowest onloading EVVVVVER. and it wasnt just because i was nearing disney. it was slow.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160190.jpg

Found where we needed to go in the airport(thanks to many trip reports for that! that place can be confusing!)
got our ME. watched our video.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160192.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160193.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160197.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160198.jpg

now had a problem here.
We were renting a car from National in the Dolphin. thanks to the United/Continental merge they moved our flight arrival back an hour. so we were arriving at 1245 and had to get our rental site BY 330. yes. it was very close.
so took ME to port orleans riverside, which of course was THE LAST STOP then hailed a taxi and sped to the dolphin and got our car.
cut it very very close.

Then went back to POR and checked in. SO HAPPY!!!!
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160211.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160212.jpg

Then i got overwhelmed of finally being THERE and tim got me with something caught in my eye.....
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160216.jpg

got the cups
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160217.jpg

jumped in the rental (which was embaressingly ugly) im sorry if you drive one of these cars by choice. we hated it. we nicknamed her Brunhilda. See, im covering my face so no one sees me get in it.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160220.jpg

got an awesome new refurbished room. we really loved it. in the magnolia mansion. right over the bridge yet away from the main walkway so quiet. very pleased. had no specific requests. just paid extra for a king sized bed

You and your husband remind me of my husband and me (he's a comic book nerd), and well, we are both kind of goobers (but in an awesome way if that makes sense!) Just thought I'd let you know I'm excited to continue reading your TR, as we are going back in January for our one-year anniversary. We went last January for our honeymoon and had a blast... Reading this makes me excited for our anniversary trip!

So we had just just checked in, drove our ugly rental to our building, and i was opening the DOOR to our room!

the pictures on the headboard were really neat.
i love how they look like the mansions themselved

Close up of Tiana and Naveen:
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160230.jpg

We had a 715 reservation at the Hoop De Doo and some time to kill so we wandered around the grounds.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160232.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160234.jpg

Tims very first Mickey head ice cream bar. I had a bite. and now i get it. they are FANTASTIC. i didnt understand the hype on an ice cream bar but yeah. they are that good.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160235.jpg

Shenanigans.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160239.jpg

Left in Brunhilda to Fort Wilderness. I drove the whole trip, Tim had the map.
Luckily Fort Wilderness was like THE EASIEST thing we had to get to our whole trip.
but it really is confusing how you get there, park, then have to get on a bus to get deeper into the "wilderness". Love CMs though so helpful. but you could tell they had someone stationed out just to answer this specific question. must happen a lot.
We had some time to kill before our Hoop so we went to the store.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160244.jpg

sat around. it was hot. did i mention it was only 40 degrees that morning when we left Wisconsin? and now it was like 90? 200% humidity like a rainforest.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160246.jpg

Overall we liked the Hoop de Doo. it was fun. loud. obnoxious. our idea of a good time.
we had a seat in the complete back of the main hall. we were in front of the doors. but we could see perfectly. not bad seats with the dining plan i thought. we sat next to each other and faced the front. i think its something i could go like four years before going to it again though.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160247.jpg

i love CORNBREAD.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160248.jpg
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160254.jpg

Food was average. Chicken. ribs. cornbread. beans. corn. mashed potatoes. all in buckets. THAT MAKES IT FUN!
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160258.jpg
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160259.jpg

this was pretty awesome strawberry shortcake. and it even gets its own song.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/P9160261.jpg

Finally, i remember telling tim on the way down to Florida, "tim, this trip is what we make it, so we need to just let things roll off our shoulders and we need to get involved to make it fun"

so, when they handed out the metal washboard and everyone was encouraged to play it with a spoon...tim yells "IT IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT!!!" and played it so loud that even the kids at the table next to us stopped to watch him.

You guys just sound like so much fun! You're right, the trip is what you make of it, so better get down and dirty and make it fun.

The thing about HDDR is that it's just a lot of fun. Food's average, but that's not the draw. It's just about having fun. My brother was actually one of the people pulled up one year to participate in the show.

all the kids we saw at the Hoop Dee Doo loved it. its cute enough for kids, but enough adult word play too to make it fun. and food in BUCKETS!

Is your countdown board made out of those paint swatches from Home Depot?!?! I love it!

and yes! thats exactly where i got them. i had to grab 100 of them and thats quite a few so i kept "ooohing" and "aaaaaahing" over the colors so i had the time to grab so many.

Since I have to wait a whole year for my first trip to Disney, I'm reading trip reports! It looks like y'all had a wonderful time! I can't wait to read more!

omg. i booked my trip at 390 days out and it was painful. so.long.to.wait. yikes. good luck. it'll come some day! HAHA

it was a fun trip! POR was very quiet and awesome. and id stay there again someday but i probably never will get the chance (but thats explained later on!!!) ooooo suspense!

I love that Tim is going at that washboard with such enthusiasm that his hand is just a blur. :rotfl:

isnt it great? that went on for ten minutes. then i got a headache.

Yay! So glad you started! You guys are hilarious. Looks like a great start to your trip. Can't wait for more.

DAY ONE
MAGIC KINGDOM

I couldn't sleep, woke up at 545 am. My husband wasnt too pleased with that, but we were going to MAGIC KINGDOM and i really wanted to get moving.
so what if it didnt open for like, three hours.
Now i work for a doctor at my job, and she had just gone on a Disney cruise and picked me up a few pins. I also went and bought a few on sale at the disney store online, and i planned on trying out this "pin trading thing"

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160268.jpg

so we went to POR counter service for breakfast.
i had a MIckey waffle.
its a waffle! its mickey!

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160270.jpg

Tim had their breakfast platter. a pretty standard breakfast platter. no bells and whistles here.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160272.jpg

Took the bus from the front depot at POR. Got to MK at about 820. Never used a turnstile before so we got behind a couple and watched them so we could pretend to know what we were doing.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160278.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160279.jpg

got through the gate and then ran to the photopass guy where we got our card and our very first PHOTOPASS picture. i prepaid for photopass and got it for $100 and so i told tim that we needed to hit every.single.photopass person to make it worth the money. (ended with like 165 pictures on my photopass) ill do a photopass picture update tomorrow for day one. ive already spent too much time uploading to photobucket.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160283.jpg

WHOS EXCITED TO GO TO MAGIC KINGDOM!?
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160284.jpg

So the rope drop charade started, and it was cute. Watched it in its full entirety.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160288.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160289.jpg

tiana is my favorite disney princess.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160290.jpg

Um, i want to be family for the day. Just me and Tim. haha. that would be a riot.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160292.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160294.jpg

So we stayed and watched the whole song before going into Magic Kingdom. I saw that they opened the gates before the song ended and people ran in, but since it was my first visit (and we had a few others planned for this park) i didnt rush.

People ask what my favorite part of the trip was.
it was turning the corner at Main street to see the castle. that was awesome.
just finally SEEING IT.
i thought it was pretty special.
:cloud9:

p.s. avid followers. please direct your attention to the MICKEY WAFFLE picture to notice my ring finger. (my wedding ring finger!!) FORESHADOWING.

DAY ONE PART TWO

So we are walking down Main street, which is the MOST AWESOME THING EVER.
and we had decided previously that we would ride SPACE MOUNTAIN first. of course.
walking picture....
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160296.jpg

so we ride space mountain- and its the BOMB by the way.
and we come out of space mountain- and i see Chip and Dale-
first charactor pics!
so we are next in line, when Chip and Dale need to go eat some acorns.
so we wait.
and then i notice my ring finger is missing my wedding ring.
and it just kinda goes like
"tim. i think i lost my wedding ring on space mountain"
"thats too bad"
"tim. WEDDING RING. missing"
"yep. its insured"
"TIM. I LOST MY WEDDING RING ON SPACE MOUNTAIN"
"its insured. you can get a new one when we get home"

and well, that was the end of that. :rotfl:
i guess i expected him to freak out more. or care more. but he was right. what else could we do? it was the first day on our vacation and i didnt want to ruin it, so, move on i guess.
took pics with the squirrels. (why do so many people think they are squirrels????!!)

Then as we are getting fastpasses for Space Mountain Tim was looking at what he calls "the photographic evidence" and notices that my wedding ring was not in pictures that morning -but in Hoop De Doo pics--so it must be in the room.
i try to call Mousekeeping at POR to ask that the person changing the sheets be on the lookout- she didnt speak much English and "promised to call me back shortly"- she never did. meh.

Can you see how riveted we are????!!!!

Worst.ride.ever.
i felt like i was at a campy fair ride. THIS RIDE IS TERRIBLE.
so boring.
oh, not to mention it stops. for like five long long long minutes in the circular room where evil Zurg is flying around you.
FIVE long long long minutes with the same thing on repeat and i already think its the worst ride ever.

Decide to go ride the only ride i remember from 1987 and its because i rode it FIVE TIMES IN A ROW!!!
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160310.jpg

it was super awesome to get back on this ride and i understand why 5 year old me thought it was the bees knees.
Would five year old me have waited 40 minutes in line for this?
NO WAY.
the lines on this ride are ridonkulous. but, its pretty sweet, and luckily we had gotten there with no wait.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160307.jpg

Since we had a 11 am lunch ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern i wanted to stick nearby so of course- we ride HAUNTED MANSION.
we took the cemetary line being newbies and all

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160311.jpg

This new Q is fun. Note: if you hold down all of the instruments it will play "grim grinning ghosts". it was neato.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160313.jpg

oh, by the way, it only took me 5 rides to notice some guy is hanging in the stretching room. i catch on fast!!!

we did walk by Splash Mountain quick to get fastpasses- i didnt want to be wet when i ate since everyone blasts the air conditioning. which i fully appreciate.
it was the hottest weather ive ever been in.

Oh no! about your wedding ring, I mean.

I love Chip and Dale in their space outfits. I have no idea why, but I just find it incredibly endearing. Space Chip and Dale are pretty much the only characters we waited in line to see.

I used to like Buzz Lightyear, back before Toy Story Mania opened. Now I just find it frustrating; I can never figure out which little laser light is mine.

MAGIC KINGDOM, PART THREE!

so we go to check in at Liberty Tree tavern.
Its air conditioned so we already love it. we go to the left all the way in a back room and have a cute table by a window. and away from everyone. maybe they were embarresed by us? it happens.

i decided to try my best presidental pose, since the walls are lined with pics of them.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160315.jpg

then we got out the map after ordering and decided on what to do next.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160319.jpg

DELUXE DINING PLAN- insane amount of food.
QUICK thing
i decided in january of this year to join weight watchers.
Before that is when i had booked this trip, WITH DELUXE DINING PLAN.
so so so much food.
At weigh in before i went on my trip i had lost SEVENTY FIVE POUNDS. woooooo
i wasnt going to diet in disneyworld.
i lost the weight just so i could put it back on through DELUXE DINING. :rotfl:
no, really though. i was going to eat what i wanted to eat but not be stupid about it.

so with deluxe, wait- DELUXE DINING
you get the appetizer, the main course and the dessert.
so for an appetizer tim ordered the clam chowder.
and i had the fried cheese.
one thing from a WISCONSIN PERSON.
these are cheese curds.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160320.jpg

tim ordered:
Freedom Pasta - Fusilli Pasta and tender Chicken sautéed with fresh Tomatoes, Mushrooms, and a touch of fresh Basil all tossed in a Cream Sauce $16.99

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160321.jpg

he said it was awesome.
i guess so, if you want to carb load on a hundred degree day.

i had a lamb stew with rice.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160322.jpg

um. it was ok. not bad. not the greatest. i would compare the multi grain rice to eating like....dirt. but healthy dirt.

Dessert though. wow. a fat girls dream after being on weight watchers for 8 months.
Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake - vanilla cake with a gooey toffee filling, vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce $6.49
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160323.jpg

i only ate barely half of it. but it was wonderful.

Later on: more rides. more of us. california grill!

i think that was our problem on that ride.
what am i shooting at? where is my laser?
i just thought it was cheesy. and not good cheesy.
i waited for a ton of characters this trip but chip and dale were by far in the top of my list for awesome.

I do hope you found your ring, the sentimental value is priceless!

The MK opening show is so worth watching, we did our very first trip and it made us sooo happy!

I think your DH doing to robot wouldn have be awesome to see!:lmao:

I don't care for Buzz either, but Toy Story Mania is my ride:thumbsup2

Your food look ok to me, but your desert has me wishing for things I shouldn't eat! I lost 70 pounds, in the last 2 years, but also :sad2: have put some back on. I could kick my own hinder.

Thats fantastic that you ate what you wanted and didn't gain! I've been wondering about if I need to worry about it there, given the huge activity level of a Disney vacation. :cool1:

You can do it! I'm sure I understand about not wanting to diet. LOL. Maybe give yourself a break by switching up your diet plan or something. A month on a totally different diet or... I don't know. there is a board here for people to talk about that stuff too. W.I.S.H down under "just for fun" heading. I'm on the "walk to disney challenge" thread. MAGIC KINGDOM, DAY ONE, PART FOUR:

so we finished up carb loading at Liberty Tree Tavern and ran over and used our fastpasses for Splash Mountain and also hoped on Big Thunder Mountain that had a 20 minute wait. Wasnt too bad, i think people were doing lunch at about that time.
Afterwards hit Pirates- thats such a great ride. Lucked out our first ride and managed that NO ONE TOOK ANY FLASH PICTURES. was very happy. I realize that is kind of a rare thing these days.
I really like the Jack that they added in a few parts. The one in the barrel is very lifelike!

After that we hit Jungle Cruise, which we ACTUALLY took pictures at. I think it was about a 25 minute wait but because the Q was fanned/shaded and it was HOT we didnt mind it.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160326.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9160325.jpg

Now the last time i rode this, 25 years ago, they DID NOT do the humorous dialog. I like it better with it. It would be rather boring without it.
But like, no one laughed, or smiled much. I felt bad for the guy. Tim and i were busting out laughing. we are easily amused!

the back side of water....genius. haha

After that it was hot. i was cranky. I ate a Dole Whip which i lost the picture of. it was great.
We decided that since at that time (about 2) it was about time to duck into some stores. get out of the heat. away from the crowds that had suddenly appeared. so we went to the Chapeau and got EARS MADE. yay! first ears!
the lady took our first ear picture!

So when i left off we had finished with the 3 pm parade, and we decided to get out of the heat and head to fantasyland to see mickeys Philharmagic.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9170361.jpg

Pretty princess by the water fountain.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9170362.jpg

Watched the show for the first time and really liked it. its fun.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9170364.jpg

While walking through Fantasyland, tim says
"we should ride this"
and i say "no, we really shouldnt"
and he says "do you remember it?"
and i say "slightly"
and he says "well common, we have to ride everyting"
and i say
"dont say i didnt warn you"

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9170367.jpg

its like a terrible nightmare that has creepy children in it.
my own personnal opinion.
and tim's too, by the end of it.
he HATED it.
During the ride there was this foreign couple in the boat in front of us. the guy kept taking pics of the girl, who was CONSISTENTLY standing up to get the right angle, i guess.
the ride froze, and all the boats stopped and she nearly fell into the water. tim and i dont want anyone to get hurt, but it would have been REALLY funny watching her go into the water, even after we saw other people in the boat tell her to sit down. she didnt seem to stand up anymore after that. shucks.

at that point it was like, 5 ish, and i was EXHAUSTED since we had been up since 5 am or so, and THE HEAT.
it was SO HOT. us poor Wisconsinites were ready to pass out.
so we got in line out of the sun at another attraction.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9170371.jpg

im not yawning again.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9170372.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9170374.jpg

This ended up being Tim's favorite attraction of the whole trip. He LOVED it. a LOT. he'd just randomly break into Tiki room songs. i think by the end of this trip we watched it 5+ times.

Had a dinner ADR so made our way out of the park. goodbye for now castle!!!
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9170377.jpg

We had a 730 pm ADR at California Grill but since we were so tired we decided to go early and see if we could be seated early.
Turns out we could be!
They sat us in the wine room, and we had a great view of water.
Since it was our anniversary they threw down "pixie dust"
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9170390.jpg

We played with the confetti, put it on our faces and made it stick. you know, like adults do in a fancy resturaunt.
we ordered wine, it was pretty good.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9170381.jpg

Tim ordered the cheese plate as his appetizer
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9170383.jpg

i ordered the California Roll
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9170384.jpg

Tim ordered:
Oak-fired Filet of Beef - Mascarpone Potatoes, Blue Lake Beans, Arugula Oil, and Teriyaki Barbecue $44
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9170385.jpg

I ordered:
Grilled Pork Tenderloin - with Goat Cheese Polenta, Roasted Mushrooms, Zinfandel Glaze, and Sage $34
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9170388.jpg

they were both FANTASTIC.
Tims was better than mine, but mine was ALMOST as good.

For dessert Tim ordered
Tanzanian Chocolate Creme Brulee - Creme Brulee with a Citrus Financier and Chocolate-Hazelnut Bark $12
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9170396.jpg

I had:
Bananas and Caramel - Crispy baked phyllo squares layered w/banana, caramel, mascarpone mousse, and caramelized banana $12
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%201/P9170398.jpg

Tim loves chocolate, and he said it was the best thing hes ever eaten. haha. i liked mine, but the banana brittle got stuck in my teeth.
We went on the patio for the fireworks.

We wanted to get back to POR and wasnt sure if we should go to magic kingdom since it would be crazy busy with the fireworks just being let out. When we walked by the contemporary bus stop the DTD bus was there and we decided to hop on that then switch.
AHHHH!!!! worst decision EVER.
that took FOREVER. then we hopped off the bus at DTD and i was LUCKY to notice that the bus we HAD JUST BEEN on switched over to POR and so we got BACK on and rode to our resort.

we got back to the room. cranky.
got a little something from the Mousekeeping.

and found my wedding ring.
i have NO IDEA how that fell off like that. its NEVER happened before.
but there it was.
no new ring for me. haha.

So glad you found your wedding ring :) Love your Ears, I think I might try to talk DH into getting a pair in March. Great Pics you took :thumbsup2
My DH is all excited about the Tiki room re-opening
Great first day at MK

I bought the 4 parks one world CD and it had a song from the Tiki room with Iago and it was just really obnoxious. The new Tiki room is a lot of fun. the songs are great.
It WAS a first great day!

Definitely sticking around! Your report is very fun to read!!

I love your pics of the castle with the fireworks. Oooh. And the one that you took on an angle. That was very cool!!

Thank you! Tim took all the firework pictures. I think its the luck of the draw with a point and shoot camera if its going to turn out or not.

I thought about you today. I was in Appleton, and parked in the lot at Hollywood cinema was your lovely red rental car! :lmao:

Anyway... Yay, I 'm glad you found your ring. I bet you felt better that you had it.

Your food looked very good! I'm ready for some desert now!

Us Wisconsinites did melt down there! :rotfl2:

I see that stupid car a lot myself and i really feel bad for people who purposely bought it. Maybe im constantly seeing the same one you did!

this weather now is my kind of weather. I LOVE FALL. now that all my leaves are raked up i can really enjoy it. :)

Joining in! Loving your report so far. Looks like lots of fun!!!

Since it gets cold here right after Labor day, we forget how hot FL is. I got a sunburn in Nov. In FL.

we usually stay at POR too. Diidn't know about the refurbishment rooms.

Just wanted to say a quick apology for not updating thursday. i went and saw GHOSTBUSTERS since it was rereleased in the theatres. BEST MOVIE EVER. i think the big screen makes it even better, if possible.
then i planned on updating yesturday but one of dogs, Doctor, had a health meltdown and has like 20 bladder stones with a few in his urethra so i had to take him to the animal ER. (KACHING!!!!) and now hes in the puppy ICU.....ahhhhhhh! terrible! but hes going to be ok. he has another surgery tomorrow and will be back to normal.
but....enough of that. i am waiting for the photobucket pics to upload and then you guys are in for some excitment!:rotfl:

OK then. September 18th, DISNEY HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS day.
woke up early and had breakfast at POR counter service.
the park was scheduled to open at 9 so we got there at about quarter after 8.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170430.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170431.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170433.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170434.jpg

So ive heard the horror stories of getting to Toy Story Mania, or the "running of the bulls".
so i told Tim the madness and what was going to happen, and he was planning on getting to the fastpass machine with our tickets and id hang back by the line. We were one of the first through the turn stiles and got to the rope they had up.

So picture in front of me.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170436.jpg

then the CM showed up to walk people slowly to TSM.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170439.jpg

Picture BEHIND me. and most of these people were going to TSM too. its on like Donkey Kong!!!
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170438.jpg

they pulled the rope, we walked behind CMs and tim was first to get fastpasses. then we hopped in line.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170440.jpg

OMG I LOVED TINKERTOYS!
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170443.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170445.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170448.jpg

This ride is pretty cool. Nearly get trampled and fight the crowd cool? Meh. i dunno. its ok though. So we rode once, then again. The second time we had a glitch in our guns and they were not shooting properly. We told the CM and they let us go through again. That was great of them. We walked across the "road" and decided to get some pics with Woody since there was only a posted 10 minute wait.
i love the Q for this. all the picture spots are awesome!

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170449.jpg

We headed over to Rock N Roll rollercoaster and Tower of Terror. Now, i hate drops. i hate the Giant Drop at Six Flags, i HATE DROPS. i told tim we could get fastpasses and i would ride it later. We could hope on RNRR quick before heading off to Sci Fi drive in where we had lunch.

THIS IS SUCH AN AWESOME RIDE.
it takes darkness which is awesome. throws in LOOPS which are SUPER AWESOME and then that inital blast off...WOW. this ride is too short. way too short.
look at me! im scared crapless in the best way.
i love this ride.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170461.jpg

So we walk to the other side of the park, taking in the sights!

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170459.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170464.jpg

This made me very happy. i LOVE tom hanks. really. I would leave tim to marry tom hanks. or bill murray too i guess.
but i was very happy to see this from SPLASH!

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170465.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170466.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170468.jpg

The water was coming out of this which was great- have i mentioned how HOT IT WAS!? yuck.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170469.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170472.jpg

We were a little early to Sci FI so we decided to ride Star Tours quick before eating. We also grabbed FastPasses for it, because we knew we'd want to ride it again.....right?

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170474.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170476.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170478.jpg

So we get on the ride, and im loving it............and i look over.
And tim is GREEN.
He is staring at the ground and breathing heavily.
He says "its a GIMBALL RIDE!?!?!?"
i told him to pick a spot on the ground and stare at it until it was over. and not to throw up, else theyld shut the ride down. haha
The ride was done and tim had to stand up against the wall until the nausea went away.
All from little ol' Star Tours.
Once he could move again I told him it was time for lunch!

Well, whats better than eating lunch after nearly vomiting from something George Lucas has made?

We were really excited to eat here, for the B clips. Dont know if you noticed Tims Godzilla shirt that he wore this day but he loves old school movies. Also really likes Mystery Science Theatre which rips apart old silly B movies.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170486.jpg

We forgot to take pictures of our appetizers. we were laughing up a storm and eating and got carried away. I am sorry that i will not be providing pictures of BLT soup or onion rings!

I had:
The Reuben - Corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, thousand island dressing on marble rye bread, served with a pickle spear and a choice of cucumber salad of french fries $12.49

I got it with fries and i also asked for a white bread instead of rye. Not a rye lover.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170488.jpg

I have been thinking about a rueben for a long time. Remember my diet. So i was finally able to eat one and it was ok. not the best. needed more saurkraut. But im from Wisconsin. maybe its just me and my love of saurkraut.

Tim had:
Angus Chuck Burger - flame broiled beef patty topped with cheddar or Swiss cheese, sauteed onions, mushrooms, and crispy bacon, lettuce and vine-ripened tomatoes, served with a choice of cucumber salad or french fries $13.99

This burger was massive. Seriously! look at this thing!

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170489.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170490.jpg

he liked it. it was a burger. Tim lives for burgers.
for dessert i had red velvet cheesecake thing. it wasnt very good. i barely ate it.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170491.jpg

and i really cannot remember what this is. I dont see it on the menu on ALLEARS so yeah. heres what tim had:
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9170492.jpg

When we left we went over to the Muppet area. i am SO PSYCHED for the new Muppet movie coming out. its going to be EPIC.
i loved all of the music piped in the area from the movies. I have a lot of them on my IPOD. We watched the Muppet attraction. wish it did NOT have that dimensional thing. its dumb. its not a muppet. the potential here is GREAT and i was dissapointed by every moment that had that non Muppet thing in it.

Loving your trip report so far. I am from Appleton but live in Anchorage Alaska now. I was just back home in Sept. Had to stop at Packer Hall of Fame and did the tour. I also went to Bay Beach, it is no Disney but will always be my first amusemant experience. I drove by six flags but did not get to stop this time. I love the Packers and Disney. I really love DHS, it's just got a great vibe to it.

I've heard that Star Wars rides was kinda:sick:, so we for sure skipped it. We are a motion sickness fam, so it really wouldn't have gone well for us!

We went to Sci Fi too, and loved it! The themeing is so cool and the movie clips fun to watch. I had the rueben too and it was good, sauerkraut could have been more, it must be a WI thing!

i liked Star Tours, but i did notice i had a headache after it, but maybe it was from DH complaining. :rotfl: not sure. i hope to get on it again myself someday though. didnt enjoy it much since i thought he was going to hurl and i had to think of a way to pretend i didnt know him if that happened.

im off from work for a few days, thank you pneumonia. haha. so lets bust out some updates shall we?

Decided to walk around a little to take in the park being the first visit and all.

Tim is drinking coffee from that writers shop place. it wasnt bad.
and thank you DISBOARDS for teaching me to step on the button on the ground under the umbrella no one around us knew and i felt like a pro when people asked me how i knew about it. haha

At this point it began POURING.
I did not take pictures, but we RAN to Lights motor action or whatever its called. It was going ok, raining more and more and then they stopped the show due to rain.
Then the wind kicked in and there was SIDEWAYS rain, getting us completely soaked. Not the best time ever.
the rain let up, and they restarted. the cars didnt go as fast as they usually d so that was kinda of a bummer. I really liked the Lightning McQueen segment that they have now.

Once the show was over it kept raining, so we headed into The One Mans Dream. It was interesting. We did not watch the video at the end.

so ran into little mermaid show. it was fun. the giant ursela was kinda scary.
and seriously- how many shows are going to spit water on me?
next hop was into the animation building since the rain wouldnt let up.
the line was insane because of the rain so we went to the meet and greet area.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9180557.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9180558.jpg

see the blue on the bottom? tim and i are like little kids.
"what do you think it is?"
"i dont know what do you think it is?"
"do you think it tastes good?"
"smells like raspberry"
"wonder if we should eat it"
so tim did.
and its blue raspberry sno cone syrup.
someones gotta take a leap of faith.

i had

Warm Seasonal Fruit Cobbler - with Créme Fraîche and Orange Blossom Honey $6.00

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%202/P9180565.jpg

we then split up. i went to get seats at fantasmic and tim went and used the fastpasses for tower of terror. i couldnt do it! i just couldnt ride it! maybe next time. im a huge chicken. haha

fantasmic was fun. pretty. bright shiny lights.

afterwards i asked tim what he wanted to do.
he said whatever i wanted to do.
i was EXHAUSTED but my brain was on a DISNEY train so i said
"EXTRA MAGIC HOURS AT MK TILL 2 AM!!!"

and tim said
"ok hunny"
even though....he didnt want to. what a great guy!!

I loved that new Pooh movie too. Wasn't it awesome?

When my daughters asked me to go I wasn't terribly interested but once it hit the dollar theatre I took them. DD13 got embarrassed as we were walking toward the theatre thinking she was going to be the only teen there. She could not have been more wrong. There were three rows of older teens that were all there together and it became obvious that they really enjoyed it as well. :rotfl: Also when I looked behind us I saw a few more scattered throughout. So I made sure to tell her, on the way home, that there were more teens than young children!

Tim and I were the only people there without any kids. and we laughed the loudest of anyone in the movie! its great! i love that they went back to the old skool reading from a book deal. I bought it on Blu Ray and planning on having a Winnie the Pooh showing for some friends from work!

So lets see...
ANimal Kingdom day.
September 19th and its a Monday!
We wake up early, which is painful since we were up till the wee hours the night prior, but we have ADRs at Tusker House with DONALD at 815 am.
We take the ugly red car and drive to animal kingdom.

I bought a new top just for this day, because im a nerd.
The park had EMH and was open at 8 am so we just went straight to Tusker House.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/P9180590.jpg

I got SO SO SO many compliments on my panda top. haha. YAY
the person who walked thru with the pictures to sell said that two girls in the back wanted to know where i got it (hot topic) and its really a dress!
but with the heat and chub rub wearing it as a dress i would have been asking for trouble so i threw some shorts on.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/P9180591.jpg

This was a good breakfast.
It was yummy.
They said the special for the day was Krispy Kreme donuts.
haha. no thanks!
but that juice everyone ravs about was really awesome!

and a signed card!

So twards the end of the safari, before you get on the "scary bridge"
i was looking yonder at all the animals when DH and the guy sitting next to him both yell "WATCH OUT!" and the lady safari driver slams on the breaks. SHe's like "WHAT!?!?!?!" and the guy sitting with us says "you hit that bird!" and she said "no i didnt they get out of the way!" and my DH is like "no, you hit it" and she got really angry and was like "they get out of the way!! I didnt hit ANYTHING!!!" and then the rest of the bus was trying to see this bird- which may or may not have been hit. I dont know. didnt see it. but DH and the guy in the front row swears that she hit it. Not like, ROADKILL hit it. but bumped the bird in the butt. one of those larger birds that walks everywhere.
Nevertheless, the bird walked away. Unharmed. Visually. Emotionally Scarred for life maybe.

Then we just mosied around, taking in the animals on that walk through.

Decided to ride EE- the wait was 5 minutes. FIVE MINUTES!!!! we rode it three times in a row. Got off the ride, got back on, no wait whatsoever THREE TIMES IN A ROW. it was awesome.
this is the only pic i got from the Q because tim and i found it informational. haha

Dinosaur the ride was ok. Kinda jerky. Fun. Tim LOVES dinosaurs. I felt bad for the poor dinosaur that held up the tree so we could escape. but then i found out we saved him right back SO YAY!
I know ive seen the dinosaur movie, but i cant remember anything about it. Do they die at the end? All i can think of is the Land Before Time.

i WISH WISH WISH WISH WISH i would have bought this. but it was kinda small. but i LOVED it. Next time. IM GETTING IT!!!

How in the world did I miss 2 updates!! We loved the Tusker House! The juice, the juice:lovestruc I can't even remember how many times our glasses were refilled! Great character interaction as well!

I do love your Panda top, it so cute. It looks nice on you.

Love the safari pics! I bet you the driver was freaking! We had to sit still for like 15 minutes because long horm cow just sat right in the middle of the road munching on some grass!

UGH, the heat.... just hearing you talk about it makes me remember the sweat filled days.

I'm so hungry right now, I could lick the screen so you had better have yummy pics!

p.s. Nice Poop Pics!:lmao:

Your panda top is totally adorable! I love it. So appropriate for a day at the Animal Kingdom.

That Safari story is pretty funny. Thinking that the bird being hit is pretty hilarious. And the CM being all irritated about it. At least he wasn't physically harmed. He might have been emotionally scarred though...

Just found your trip report - it is great! Love a report with tons of pictures!

You would never know you were a Disney novice, clearly you did a ton of trip research. (And you taught me about the button under the umbrella - thanks!)

The food at California Grill looked so good. We ate in that room on our last trip and loved it. Such a nice spot! :lovestruc

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/P9180654.jpg

this was sooooo good. yum yum yum.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/P9180655.jpg

I had:
Vegetable Lo Mein - lo Mein noodles, carrots, cabbage, green onions, bean sprouts $16.99; add tofu $2

and i added the tofu
OMG YUMMMMMMMM
this was so wonderfully fantastic. it was fresh and the veggies were cooked perfect.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/P9180656.jpg

Tim had:
Crispy Mahi Mahi - filet of mahi mahi, Japanese bread crumbs, Cantonese sweet and sour sauce, jasmine rice, stir-fried vegetables $22.99
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/P9180658.jpg

he really liked it too.

FOr dessert i had:
Mango Pie - shortbread cookie crust, fresh whipped cream, raspberry sauce $6.99
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/P9190660.jpg

Tim had:
Sorbet - Mango, lemon, raspberry $6.99
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/P9190661.jpg

So lunch was awesome, and as im waiting for the bill tim's phone rings.
a little bit of back story here:
Tim builds power plants for a living and before we left he jumped through a bunch of hoops to get clearance to work at a nuclear power plant.
this is a lot of work because the FBI is literally the one doing a background check on you.
he knew that he'd be going to this job after he got home, so everything was GOOD! RIGHT!?!?!?!

so the phone call.
this lady calls and says that she LOST his paperwork for the job and if he didnt have it (re)turned in by TOMORROW at noon he wouldnt get on the job.
he says "im in florida"
she says "i dont care"
he says "im in disneyworld"
she says "i dont care"
he says "i called you after i faxed it the first time and you said you had it"
she says "i dont have it now"

@!$%#@

i meet tim outside the yak and yeti and decides what to do.
he calls my moms boyfriend who lives in green bay (9-0 today baby! go packers!!) and asks him to drive to our house (30 minutes away), break into our house, get my car key, get tim's paperwork, and fax it to him so that he can fill it out and fax it back.

he will take the ugly rental.
i decide to stick at the park, and meet back up with tim at ANIMAL KINGDOM lodge for out dinner ADR at 5. four hours away.

BUT. before he leaves. i want to do the POOH, tigger and eeyore meet and greet.

we hit a photopass guy on our way there:
i love this pic. i blew it up for my wall.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/294545_10150343502716132_825521131_8096126_4518694 48_n.jpg

SO meet and greet::

Here i am saying
"look eeyore, you still have your TAEL!!"

im like a crazy person in this picture.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/312105_10150343503661132_825521131_8096139_1771016 951_n.jpg

so then tim leaves.
so i run amok.
not really. it was toooooooooooooo hot. i rode EE again. i bought a sweet fleece (which the lady asks if i want to wear right away??? and she was serious! its like 90 degrees out!!)

i also forgot to mention before lunch tim and i went into its tough to be a bug. i loved it. the movement in the chair freaked me out but thats AWESOME.
and again- how many Disney shows will squirt water in my face?

i was over by the other charactor meet and greets and they had NO LINES but i wasnt feeling it. No tim. TOO HOT. and i was tired.
on my way out i snapped some pics.

I think we left off and i was walking out of AK.
i was hot.
i was alone.
i was grumpy.
got on the bus heading to Animal Kingdom Lodge and the bus driver got the bus singing a lovely rendition of Hakuna Matata- since the movie had just come out that weekend or the one prior.

I got to Animal Kingdom Lodge at 330. ADR for Boma was at 515.
What to do, what to do.
I browsed the gift shop- fun times.
Then i got a soda with a snack credit, bought a People magazine.
Went into the lobby, and parked myself down, on a comfy chair.
Read my magazine.
Went on facebook on my phone.
And i was pretty happy.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/P9190668.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/P9190669.jpg

At about 4 tim called and said he wasn't sure if he was going to make it.
i told him that he'd better, else i was eating alone.

at ten after five he shows up.
CRANKY. holy man the poor guy had a rough few hours.
So he went to POR to see if he could recieve faxes there and they said no, hed have to go to a buissness center at one of the Deluxe resorts.
He went to boardwalk.
Then he called my moms boyfriend who had finally broke into my car and at home and got his paperwork and was going to Kinko's to fax everything.
THe crazy lady that lost tims paperwork in the first place emailed tim 10 pages of paperwork that needed to be REFILLED OUT, and my moms boyfriend faxed him 24 pages of old paperwork that needed new dates on everything.
So to RECIEVE all the faxes and then to REFAX all those pages to that stupid lady it was over $150.
yeah.
tim was cranky.
he called her, she said she recieved them (AGAIN).

So tim was cranky, i was cranky but i was excited to eat at Boma. I had heard many good things and it smelled great!!!!!!!

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/P9190671.jpg

my first ZEBRA DOME! it was good. not like, amazing, but pretty yummy.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/P9190673.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/P9190674.jpg

I got a Fu-Fu alcoholic drink with a glo cube in it.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/P9190679.jpg

everything tastes better with a glo cube in it, i swear!

There always must be a pic with tim and his favorite drink. EVER.
Guinness.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/P9190686.jpg

Then, after we were done eating and had gotten like 3 dessert plates and we are ready to go the waitress bring out another cupcake/dessert plate/signed card for our anniversary.
UUUGH. so full
here is the card, signed by everyone in the resturaunt- sorry bad cell phone picture.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/307061_10150318482846132_825521131_7957137_1256652 467_n.jpg

Then us with our plate. we picked at it.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/P9190687.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/P9190688.jpg

We took the ugly rental back to the hotel room and found this:

We weren't sure what to do now. the day was kind of bust and i had been sitting for a long time. so we went here:

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%203/P9190690.jpg

and went to downtown Disney.
I wanted to go to World of Disney to start planning souvies for others. and to look for ME of course.

My favorite Disney movies are Robin Hood and Ratatouille.
COULD I FIND ANYTHING TO DO WITH EITHER OF THESE MOVIES?!?!?!?!
no. because it is the same crap over and over again.
DISNEY, seriously!
it was my first trip and i had serious money to throw at you and i was soooooo mad about the lack of diverse stuff.
Now i had heard about this problem on the boards- Disney "dumbed" down the merch but i thought since it was my first trip EVER i would find plenty of stuff i liked. RIGHT???
ugh. i was so angry that Disney refuses to acknowledge most of their older movies that i got so angry i wanted to leave downtown Disney.
We were there like 45 minutes.
On the way back to the boat we stopped at Ghiradelli and got some ice cream.
i got a fudge sundae with a banana.
i ate a few bites.
I turned into a real bummer at the end of this day. Not happy to admit it.
I wake up happy the next day though, i promise!

p.s. Tim was able to work at his nuclear power plant job in the end. :)

SO-
SEPTEMBER 20TH. another magic kingdom day!
breakfast ADR was made for 730 am at KONA at the poly.
we drove our hideous ugly rental car over to the poly and parked in their parking lot.
i was really looking forward to this breakfast since i heard good things about it.
while waiting for Kona to actually open (we got there a bit early) i got lei-ed by a CM. woot woot

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/293202_10150319175871132_825521131_7960612_1283465 795_n.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9190711.jpg

the last time i was in Disney over twenty years ago my dad and i stayed at the poly and i really dont think this place aged at all. its the exact same of what i can remember.

We are the very first people to sit. actually we are the only ones in the area, everyone was going to Ohana.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9190705.jpg

yum. french press. dont drink it often since you get so many coffee grounds but it was super delish.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9190708.jpg

then i couldnt decided what to get. i had heard so much about the tonga toast but it sounded too sweet to me. so timmy got it so i could try it!

Tonga Toast for Tim!
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9190710.jpg

and yes. i find this way too incredibly sweet. it was ok. but mre than a few bites was enough
but the pineapple macadamia nut pancakes- WOW. yummy! very happy with this!!
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9190709.jpg

after food we walked over to the gift shop for some sexy photo op shots.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9190713.jpg

We took the monorail over to the Magic Kingdom which was just finishing up with the Rope Drop song.
Hit Space Mountain immediatly because its awesome.
then we walked by monsters inc which was about to let people in.
i dont understand the angry face.

Hi! I'm subbing and love your report so far. I'm being a bad Wisconsinite and somewhat ignoring the Rose Bowl to catch up on the DIS right now. Now if this were yesterday's game, that would be one thing... but, I just can't get that excited about the Badgers (actually, I went to Lawrence so I am excited to see you are from Appleton)!

Loving your report so far, especially all the yummy food you've gotten to enjoy. Glad you found your ring, too!

so it was a pretty boring Sunday with no Packer game on, but since ill have up thru the Super Bowl to watch packer games i tried not to dwell on it.
i really really really liked Kona.
When we ate at Ohana later in the trip i wasnt too impressed. Meh. It was just breakfast. But more on that later!

Since the first day we were at Magic Kingdom was go go go to hit the rides we wanted this day was still go- but lots of meanering around and taking it in.
We rode Haunted Mansion like 3 times because that is my favorite.
Ran into this guy afterwards:

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9190725.jpg

Took this picture of Tim, which he wants everyone to know that he'd rather be at the castle on his shirt. He also wore this shirt when we visited castles in Europe. It is his newly appointed visiting castles tshirt. Yes, for real.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9190724.jpg

Rode Splash Mountain for the first time. that was fun....but ....
the song...annoying...but i cant quite make out the words. I should probably Google it.
"how do you do, pleased to meet you, pretty good show us your ------"
SHOW US YOUR WHAT?!
we guessed boat. board. bones.
if you have the knowledge let me know!!
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9190001.jpg

Yes i tried everything on.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9190002.jpg

then i had my first mickey bar (i had a bite of tims days earlier but this was MINE)
and really. its true. these things are amazaballs and it really doesnt make sense since its just a chocolate covered mickey shaped ice cream.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9190003.jpg

Tim had the ice cream sandwhich and he loves those but he said the mickey bar is better
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9190004.jpg

So it was still freaking hot out so we rode the train around MK.
i forgot that they had some stuff set up in the woods to look at. I think i remember as a kid this used to be more. maybe im wrong. it was just nice to not have to walk.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9190006.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9190008.jpg

We got off at the front of the park
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9190009.jpg

then i remembered that mickey and the princesses now had a meet and greet up front here so what would make me and TIM more HAPPY than meeting PRINCESSES?!?!?!
nothing. booyah.

here's Cinderella asking tim if he has a castle for me too.

Its ok princesses! we will see you again at breakfast in Norway!!! Tim's looking forward to it the MOSTEST!!!!
then we went and saw mickey. the line was 5 minutes. FIVE. walked in. BAM. seeing Mickey.
i like that no one knows they moved here from Toontown.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the TR! I'm mostly a lurker, but I had to help answer your question about the Splash Mountain song. I wondered the EXACT SAME THING about the lyrics and had to Google it too! It is:

How do you do? Fine! A friendly greetin'.
How do you do? Say it when you're meetin'.
How do you do? With everyone repeatin':
Pretty good, sure as you're born.

Tim decided he was hungry. I didnt make a ADR for lunch because i didnt know where we would be or if we'd want to just hit counter service.
But we had seen so many people walk up and get tables that we decided to try-
at the crystal palace!!!!
woot woot.
we walked up and were seated in ten minutes, if that.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9200015.jpg
we got some cute seats.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9200016.jpg

OK. do you see the family behind me sitting next to me. these were really one of the only RUDE people we ran into the whole trip. there were quite a few of them in this group.
The charactors would wrap around the outside window and then come first to us, in the center. They would hit that group afterwards.
WHO decided that was NOT good enough and would stand between us and the character BLOCKING THEM to us??
seriously people. we are two adults. we get quick pics and are done. Cut us a break.
This prevented us from seeing one character, SO i complained in front of the family to the handler that we were blocked RUDELY from seeing POOH.
so they brought him out and we got a pic over in the entrance way- which you will see in my super awesome following pictures.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9200017.jpg

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9200026.jpg

Then the cupcake. of course. but we got an awesome card signed by the characters. TAKE THAT super rude table who are teaching your children that being POOPFACES is OK.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9200027.jpg

Then we decided to hit up Pluto on Main Street because who doesnt love PLUTO?!?!
which is when we ran into the second rude group of people on our trip.
of course.
We were behind a lady and her son, and they were next in line.
this group of 8 people, foreign, of course, were standing to the side, NOT IN LINE.
a family was with Pluto, finishing up, and the lady and her son were staying back giving the current family their time with Pluto.
the whole foreign family make a run for it, and are next with Pluto
Tim and I gave them KUDOS for how stealthy they did it, but they pretended to not know english. please.
you know what im saying.
you know what you did.
they could care less.
but really. they are pro line cutters. they did it really amazingly well.
Here's our photopass pics from PLUTO

OOoohhh, that lady was giving you the daggers!:scared1: HOW RUDE, as Michelle Tanner would say!

Love all the CP photos! We really enjoyed our meals there.

Line cutters are the worst, it does have a side effect, it showed my kids that kind of behavior is wrong & how it feels so they don't do things like that!

Nice rain:lmao:, must have been the night we were at WCC, poured like crazy that afternoon.

Coming out of lurkdom to introduce myself as a fellow Wisconsinite :cool1: I have been following your TR and can't wait to see the rest!!

And your comment on the Lawrence trivia contest cracked me up - since I am counting down the days to the Stevens Point contest...can't wait!!!

:wave2:You know, I never did Trivia weekend when I was at Lawrence, but my younger sister is there now and she is all about it. I'm sure she'll spend her whole weekend playing! :rotfl:

I love that you two saw so many characters! Sometimes my husband and I get too self-conscious to do that because we don't have kids. I think next time we go I need to be much braver and stop for photos!

Sometimes I am just blown away by how rude people can be at Disney. It's not so much kids that bother me at all because they don't know better, but it really makes you wonder when you see parents setting such a horrible example.

I had heard plenty on the boards before going how rude some people could be. I'm just happy i didnt run into any of those Brazillion tour groups ive heard so many loving stories about.
I was just pretty peeved at the Crystal Palace. We were VERY QUICK with the characters and when Pooh skipped us they didnt care. GRRRRR. :rotfl:
oh well.

I love Stevens Point trivia too! I used to live in Stevens point for like 10 years. Well, my dad did. My parents are divorced and i spent all summer and weekends there. He used to run the old Best Western and we lived in one of the rooms! Best set up EVER. wooooo!

PS-Hi, fellow Wisconsinite SarahSlink! :wave2:

My husband is the one who's the die hard trivia one. He and his team Skull Squadron have been playing for a good 7-8 years and other than last year they are almost always in the top 5.
We also do not have any shame so i ran up to the characters just like all the kids and he'd be there with me. :lmao: and you really dont have to talk. Some times i didnt. I'd say "HI!" get my picture and then say "thank you Pooh Bear!" or what have you. i think that only happened once or twice though, most of the time i had plenty to say or they would point at our anniversary buttons and do some charades we would have to decifer. :confused3

Yes, I am updating during the Packer game. Im so nervous that i need to focus on something else while listening to my husband scream at the game
GO PACKERS PLLLLLLLLEASE!!!!!

So we had finshed some Tiki Room and some POTC and it finally stopped raining. didnt have much of a game plan this day so just wandered. Ended up here.
isnt it so pretty?

really wanted to see Tiana and the princess and the frog gang on the boat but never remembered it. Maybe next trip. That is seriously such an awesome Disney movie!!

We went and hopped on Haunted Mansion, then took a right and it seemed to be parade time! and holy man what a difference from watching it right on main street! i had a huge area to myself with no one in arms distance away!!

So here it is, the 3 pm parade.

HELLO GAPETTO!!! yeah! love the old school characters!
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9200053.jpg

you know what these people yelled at me at about this time?
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! i thought that was super sweet that they noticed and called out to us.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9200072.jpg

and then, the best part of the parade. Princess Tiana is probably my favorite princess, and same with the movie, as i mentioned before.
So at the end was Tiana and Naveen and they look down at me and they yell
"happy anniversary!"
i really thought that was very awesome that they noticed.
here they are yelling it at us!
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l488/portobellord/day%204/P9200077.jpg

Went over to Snow White and rode it once. And the last time since i heard its being cleared out for something else.

I really cant remember what we did for the rest of the afternoon, but pretty soon we were being shuffled out of the park for MNSSHP. we didnt go this night, but we went later in the week!
So we took the monorail back over to the Poly where we were going to do the SPIRIT OF ALOHA dinner show.
Picture on the beach!

I ordered this drink for the pretty cup, and the lady took it twards the end of the night to "Rinse" it for me and we had to find her and ask for it back because she never returned to our table with it. Our waitress was kind of spacey. She seemed like she couldnt handle the amount of things she needed to take care of.

Food was good though, especially the dessert!!

First, I want to mourn with you.:sad2: It's gonna be hard to live here in WI for a while. To keep my mind off the game, I read a book...in between screaming at the screen "WHY ARE YOU DROPPING THE BALL!!"

The next time we go to MK, I'm going to catch the parade where you did. I never really planned where to watch it before, we just happened to be on Main St when it came around.

Awesome pictures! Such great interaction with the characters!

How did you enjoy the Spirit of Aloha Dinner? My DH had brought it up before. Food looked good!

I am thankful that my husband has not given me my obligatory green bay packer fan wife beat down since they lost.
it was so aweful to watch.
so so so so so so so bad.
like what, 9 drops and 4 fumbles or something along those lines?
AHHHHHH!!!*^*&^*#^#$@&*^@#%

not like anything else matters anymore, but as for my TR:
we will never do Spirit of Aloha again. it was somewhat boring. The fire dancing was fun. THe guys are hot but know it so i wasnt too impressed with that. Tim asked me "how many of these people have had relations together do you think?" because thats what Tim thinks about. :confused3 haha. but its a high percentage, im sure. Then i couldnt stop thinking about that for the last half of my dinner. The food was good but our waitress was dense.
not worth the moocha moola or two dining credits we used on it, but i was happy to do it once.

hello fellow Appletoniter. I paged through your dining report and i love that you guys love to eat! Seriously, we spent half our trip eating at least! and it was so much fun! :thumbsup2

we are also planning our next trip and although its in December im already picking out the next restaurants. nom nom nom.

AWESOME TRIP REPORT! You guys would be a blast to hang with at WDW!

i agree!! im not vain or anything. haha
Tim wanted to meet another couple our age to hang out with while at WDW but we never did. i think its because we were too busy to pay attention to those around us unless they were in character costumes!
This next trip we are taking in December will *hopefully* be more relaxed and we plan to spend more time in bars (love the margarita bar in mexico!) and make friends!
and thanks for reading by the way!
