Hi! My name is Jen…..and I (OK take a deep breath)….am…a Disney~aholic!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/photopass%202011/aug%202011%20photopass/Photo0279FourBySix.jpg

There, I said it. Please help me!! ……. I feel the only cure is to do something Disney related as much as any human possibly can.

And that’s where my current job comes in. I was VERY fortunate to have an opportunity to become a travel agent this year. And not just ANY travel agent. I work for an agency that specializes in Disney travel.
Now before I get bombarded with questions…I have to say that I had a very unique experience at becoming a TA…and basically I talked to the “right” person at the right time and was given a chance to work with some fabulous people.
I took my classes last winter, right before my big Spring trip, which was on the Disney Dream and also a few days at WDW.

Once I got back, I got down to business a bit more. Let’s just say the potential clients were NOT breaking down my door to have me plan a trip for them right away. But as time wore on I have gotten more and more business and I must say it is feeding my addition quite nicely.
After returning from our Spring trip, I also didn’t expect to be back at Disney very soon. I was kind of hoping for a Spring 2012 trip with my family, but that won’t be decided till much later.
My DH is king of the last minute vacations. He is a Dairy farmer and swears he can’t plan anything ahead. Most of our trips are planned in about a months time. Our Spring trip was actually planned and booked in Jan. That was a miracle for us. We have never booked that far ahead. But then as fate would have it, my DH’s brother and partner in the farm broke his leg, which meant He, Skip, couldn’t go on the trip with us after all. My Mom ended up coming with us and really enjoyed the cruise. My Dad joined us for the WDW portion of the trip.

You can read about that trip here.

A Hop, NO Skip, and Many Mishaps to a Disney Dream (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2701520)

In May of this year, one of my fellow travel agents, Brook, who some of you know as Brookelizabeth on Dis, saw that there was an Agent Education Program (AEP) being offered in Aug of this year. I salivated over it! How fun would it be to go to Disney and LEARN about Disney as well. The dates were Aug 15th through Aug. 19th.
I got up the nerve and asked Skip if it would be Ok to go. I would ask MIL (Who lives right next door) to watch our 6 year old, Claire, and would make arrangements for Claire to get to school. (Claire’s school was to start right smack in the middle of the trip.) Surprisingly I got a yes without much pleading…..Who is this man? And where is my REAL husband? LOL
So before I could give him a chance to change his mind I applied for the program and with in a few days I was approved.
Several other agents from my agency also talked of going as well. Brook applied and then left for a semi solo trip to WDW before she got an answer. Brook and I requested to be roommates. Mindy decided to go as well, and she applied. Then Patty decided she would like to come also and applied and they requested to be roommates. By the time Brook came back from her solo trip, we were all approved!

Here’s the gang that went.

The first order of business was to book flights. I did a lot of shopping around. I was going to be flying out of Detroit Airport and they only had 3 airlines that had direct flights. I ended up booking with Spirit, my least favorite airline. But the price was much better than the other 2 and they had perfect times….if I flew in a day before. Even with paying for luggage and a carryon, the price was still cheaper than Delta, my next choice.
But be warned, Spirit has smaller seats than other lines. Basically NO leg room AND their luggage weight is limited to 40 lbs.
I got my airline booked and then I also booked a 1 night stay at AS Movies on Aug. 14th. I normally stay at Pop Century when we travel as a family, but since this was all about learning, I wanted to try some new things.

On the 15th, I would move over to the Yacht Club, which is where all the AEPer’s were staying.
The plan was to fly home then on Aug 19th in the afternoon. I now know that I should’ve booked another extra night. We just were so busy that we had little time to be on our own nor have much park time. I was kicking myself already about a month prior to the trip. It would’ve been $115 to change my flight so I just sucked it up and made the best of the time I had.
I also noticed that one of my favorite Disers (Dizneeat…..Karin and her brother Tom) was going to be down there the same time as I, so we made plans to meet up on the 14th.
I decided to forgo buying a park ticket for that 1st day as well. Our AEP package includes tickets, so I would just wait till I got those to visit the parks.
Our temporary agenda was emailed to us all and we were all excited about all the things planned for us to do.

For me, being a planner, it was a little hard to take. I am not used to having a whole trip planned out for me. But this was going to be like no other trip I have ever taken. I was going solo, going to classes each day and learning all things Disney, so I could deal with it.
I just had to wait…and boy did the summer seem go drag on! We had a record heat temps and it was so dang humid as well. But being that Claire is only going to be 6 once in her life, I made sure we did as much as we could this summer and tried to keep my Disney trip in the back of my mind till Aug.

Finally that day arrived!

I like your thinking! But then I always have! :thumbsup2

The parasol was a great idea. On our September trip in 09 during the record heat, I took out my pink umbrella one day while waiting for the bus and I think it saved me from passing out. I just don't do heat well, but boy that helped!

It did help. I got a few strange looks and then some others who knew exactly what I was doing. I even heard a few say they were going to go get one.

Thats what I should have had, an umbrella!

It did help a bit. At least my brain wasn't completely frying in the sun. I saved a few cells!

Aug 14th ~ Day 1

I woke up at 5:30 AM. For those who have followed me on other TR’s, you know I have a hard time sleeping the night before a trip, as well as during the trip. I slept like a rock. I was so happy to have a good nights sleep to start off this trip!
I got ready pretty quickly and woke Claire up as well. She LOVES to sleep, but she got right up. She knew Mommy was going to Disney school, BUT she also knew Mommy would be bringing home a few special prizes for her from my trip as well. Claire is a major Daddy’s girls, but I also know that even though she pretends at times like I’m not her favorite, she really does love and need her Momma. When ever she is hurt or needs ANYTHING, it’s me she goes to, not Daddy. It has now become a bit of a game for us. She will tell me thank you, but Daddy’s still the best, and then she laughs an evil laugh.
My Mom and Dad were taking me to the airport and Claire was also coming along, and then spending the day with them. After that they were going to drop her off at MIL’s.
We hit the rode at 6:30. The drive is about an hour long to Detroit airport. Believe it or not, but in that short drive we had to make a couple of bathroom stops. When Mom drinks her morning coffee she has to go frequently. LOL.
We arrived at the airport about 7:45 and I gave Claire lots of kisses and hugs. Mom told me later that after they left and only got about 2 miles down the road, Claire said “Whoever misses Mommy, raise there hand!” Mom said my Dad didn’t raise his hand and Claire was mad at him. But then my Mom told her that they had only left me a few minutes ago and they didn’t even have a chance to miss me yet. LOL!
I got checked in at the airport and then made my way through security. It has been years since I flew out of Detroit and I got my first taste of the body scanners. We usually fly out of Toledo, which does have the scanners, but I also always have Claire with me, and we get to forgo the full scanners and go through the old fashion ones.
I came out clean, no extra pat downs and made my way to the gate. I was hungry so I stopped at a store and picked up banana bread and a couple of drinks for the plane.
I sat and waited and munched on the bread and played a bit with my phone, checking out facebook.

Here is the beautiful weather Detroit was offering this morning.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/detroitairport.jpg

I didn’t wait too long and it was time to board. Now if you fly with Spirit, be sure you follow the personal size bag rule. You have to pay for a carryon and it is in code on your ticket, so they know. If you didn’t pay and your personal bag doesn’t fit in the box they have…..you will PAY! Or not take it on. On both of my flights I heard people argue over this and try to smash their bags in the box, but they were strict! If you paid for a carryon, which I did, then they seemed more lenient. Basically they didn’t seem to question the size of anyone’s personal item that had paid for a carryon as well.
I was in my seat by 9:15. I think Skip called me then as well and asked how things were going, and had to throw in a few sarcastic remarks, as he loves to do that. Things like, I bet it will be raining in FL., etc.
I was thankful that I had an aisle seat. The seats were really tight in the leg room area and I could let my leg hang out in the aisle off and on. The seat in front of me actually was jabbing me in the knees.
Our flight left on time (around 9:45) and I was that much closer to Disney!
This flight seemed REALLY long. I think the reason being was because I was alone. On all other flights I have someone to talk to, or Claire to tend to and that kind of helps with the time. I read my magazine and did some crosswords, but the motion of the plane will only allow me to do that for so long and then I feel a bit queasy.
We landed on time, which was a blessing. If you read my Spring TR, we had been delayed and then once we got to FL we had to circle in the air for about 45 minutes to wait out the storms. I think I would’ve been jumping out of my skin if that happened again this time.
Now for my little rant about deplaning. Wait your TURN! I was about 1/3 of the way back on the plane. I knew it would slow getting off, but that’s ok, because my checked bag wasn’t going to be out and faster than the others. (Even though I wasn’t getting mine, ME was taking care of that) There was a large family in the back two rows of the plane. They quickly got up and started working their way to the front. The Dad got to my seat and stopped….with his whole crew behind him.
WELL……I have a big booty and I’m not afraid to use it when needed. LOL! I stood up and backed out of my seat into the aisle. If I saw that booty coming at me, I would move too. LOL! The Dad moved up in front of me, with his whole family behind me. One other note, is that they also spoke another language, so they quickly started chattering back and forth. I knew they were mad. I then let the father and child out in front of me that were in my row. Again, I heard more chattering from the other family. The Dad in my row goes, “that’s what happens when you don’t wait your turn.”
And of course the “mad” family hadn’t learn good hygiene and could’ve used a bath about then….just saying,…… if you are going on a plane with a lot of others, please use some deodorant!
We made it off the plane and I used the bathroom. Guess what, that family wasn’t in such a hurry after all. A couple of the teenage girls from that family were in the bathroom primping. (I guess they knew about hygiene, maybe they should teach some of it to good ol’ Dad.) They were still working on their hair when I left.
I headed to the fake monorail and made my way to the Magical Express.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/2011-08-14_12-11-41_447.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/mco.jpg

I arrived at the Magical Express area. It is totally set up differently than it was last time we used it. Everyone just got in line and bypassed the desk? Is this what you do now? Only go to the desk if you have a question or something?
Anyways, I pulled out my booklet….1 of 2, since I would be coming home from a different resort, the guy scanned it and I got in line where he pointed me to. Hmmm, I looked at the sign and didn’t see AS Movies listed on it. I just waited a bit, then it hit me, I DID see Yacht Club listed. I looked at my booklet and I had pulled out the wrong one. This was where I was coming back from. I quickly pulled out the right booklet and told a CM about it and they directed me to the correct line.

The lines were amazingly long. It was very busy in this area.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/mebus2.jpg

They did move fast though and before I knew it, I was on a VERY full ME bus. So full in fact, that one family held a younger child on their lap as there wasn’t a seat left on the bus.

It is so different flying by yourself! Since Jack was born I have only had that luxury twice, once flying to San Antonio while my family drove (I couldn't take the time off) and for my friends wedding in May. It's so much easier without a toddler, no crying about taking off shoes, fewer carry ons to retrieve in the mad rush once they are out of the scanner, no last minute potty breaks, no stroller! I am looking forward to doing an AEP partially just for the chance to "vacation" alone! :rotfl:

I think plane manners should be taught by a flight attendant along with safty procedures! I wish people in the back rows didn't out their carryons in the front of the plane compartments! I also wish seats in smaller planes and short flights didn't go back:mad:

YAY! You're there!

It was such a weird experience. Only me to take care of. :scared1: Wow that was different. I have to admit I missed Claire quite a bit. I just missed having her along at the parks. Patty was a good substitute though! :rotfl: She missed her boys alot too though.

I agree. Why are some people so rude or clueless. What makes them better than everyone else? Sure, I want to get off that plane too, but I'm gonna wait my turn. I might gripe to myslef or family, but I still wait!
I hate reclining seats. They only go back like an inch, yet are so irratating to the person behind them.

A couple of off topic things. For those who haven't followed my last TR, I also brought along Claire's Phineas and Ferb dolls and made a TR with their adventures.
That TR is located here.

Ferb, I know What We're Gonna Do Today (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2797186)

I also made a video of their adventures and it is here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dk5q_cDri-M

Also for those who read my last TR, you know that my family is planning a Disney cruise next fall/winter. Right now it looks like Nov. My sister (the one with 2 girls) is being stubborn right now, according to Mom. She does not want to take her DD who will be 8 then out of school. She says it won't be educational. Of course I could give her a list of things, but she wouldn't listen to me anyways. My Mom told her to make up her mind as we are booking by the end of this month. We even priced out times when the kids would be out of school, but it raises the price per room at the very minimum of $800. Mom said no way was she going to pay that much more because my sister refuses to take her out of school. So for now, we just wil lwait and see what she wants to do, but we are going anyways, but I really would like it if they came. Claire would have an agemate and would have a blast with her cousin.
I even told Mom to tell my sister to take the city tour at Nassau and then have our niece write up a report about it.
On other cruise news...I was shocked today. My Mom said she wanted to have us all have matching t-shirts for the cruise. Now she wore the shirt I got Skip on that trip, but I never thought she would ever suggest we all get something matching...which is right up my alley! Now I'm gonna have to start looking for designs. I figure we can get the adults though Vista Print and then do iron ons for the little girls.

I hope to get back to working on this TR tomorrow. I have a few things to finish up today with some other pictures that need to be ordered, so till I get those done, I am putting this TR on hold.

Here I am!! popcorn:: Glad you're writing a trip report so I don't have to.... I didn't take enough pics to use them in place of trip notes, and if you recall on the ship, halfway through our day, my camera froze up and didn't work for about an hour! That was scary!:scared1:

I love the P&F report! I now have a good sized P&F plushies and a candace plushie put aside for Heidi for Hanukkah. In fact, when we went to World of Disney Store on our last day, she picked out that Disney Parks Minnie outfit for her American Girl Doll, and we put it in the big shopping bag and then packed it into the car. By the time we left DTD, she must have forgotten about it because she never asked about it again. Maybe she forgot we said Yes and bought it! :rotfl: Won't she be surprised!:lmao:

Well it will be a while. LOL! We still can't settle on dates. Well we all can, it's getting my sister to agree. She doesn't want to take her DD out of school at all. Mom had me price out over Columbus Day weekend today. Though I don't think her DD gets the day off for that. At least Claire doesn't. I think they are gonna give her one more chance, (my Aunt is going to talk to her next) and then go from there. My Aunt is going to tell her to have her DD bring a journel and write about it every day.

I did see your new Trip report board. I should go over and post there too when I get a chance. I am so behind on things lately though. I grabbed a few dollars to tip the ME driver and went out and waited for my bag…..and you know what. ......I walked away with the stupid money still in my hand. I never realized it till I was in the check in line. I guess I was to excited to think about more than one thing.

The lobby was packed. I chose NOT to do online checkin because I wanted to be sure to get my requests, which were Dalmatians, first floor, in a refurbed room. I would say both lines were equally as long and it didn’t appear that the online checkin line was moving much faster.

I have my back to all the people in this picture, so it doesn’t look that busy, but it was!

After a bit it was my turn to check in. I had a really great CM checking me in. I asked if my requests were met and she said no, and then got on a phone to see if they could be. After a bit of talking, she said I could have Dalmatians 2nd floor, or Fantasia 1st floor. I asked if the Fantasia Room was refurbed and she said yes, so I went with that one. I got my packet and KTTW and off I went to find my new home for the night.

I was happy with the room there. They did a good job with the refurb.

It's probably the longest checkin line I ever had at Disney. But it did mover fairly fast, thank goodness.

I made my way to the right and was on the back side of the building. It wasn’t too far down at all. I was impressed with the room refurbishment too. It’s very similar to the ones at Pop Century now.

Don't worry about being late Lisa. I am so behind in so many threads myself. I just can't seem to keep up anymore.
I bring my laptop to Claire's dance class on Thursday nights and evote the full hour to reading up on things I am behind on. :)

I really hope they put fridges inthe values. It is so helpful.

It would be nice. We don't miss them, but it would be a nice thing to have too. A few times I have put ice in a bucket and put something in it to keep cold.

I really enjoyed Movies. I am a huge Pop fan, and I won't hestitate to stay at Movies again. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the shared buses, but other than that, it was a great place.

I had planned to spend this monring working on my next update and getting it posted...well you know how plans go.

1dt, my computer is on the frtiz again. I was told last May that it was on it's last leg, and I think it's about there now. I am not too happy about that, but nothing I can do. Then I had to pick Skip up up because the breaks went out on the truck and he had to take it to get fixed. I got home and worked on 1 picture and got a phone call from Mom. She said my sister, who was reluctant about going on the fmaily cruise next year has agreed and we will be sailing the Dream on Nov. 4th of next year! So then I had to get a mass email out to everyone to get everything coordinated so I can book it. That seemed to take me quite awhile to write up and not ot's almost NOON! Where did the day go. So I am going to sadly say no update again today. But I will work on it and hopefully Sunday get something up. (We are going out of town tomorrow to Frankenmuth Michigan for lots of chicken eating! LOL!)

What a nice room! I don't know what they looked like before, but the theming is just so cool!:thumbsup2

They were Ok before, but showing their age. They are very much like Pops now. I was happy, but I probably would've been happy in a card board box if I was at Disney again. LOL

I don't remember what the rooms looked like before they were refurbished, but your room looks pretty nice, not nearly enough counter space for me in that bathroom though!

Values do lack the counter space. I bring a shoe holder thing and hang it up and put our stuff in there.

Glad you made it over. I am going incredibly slow. I want to get going, but it just seems like life gets in the way. And weather is nice, so I need to take advantage of that while I still can. I'll have all winter to sit in front of the computer.

Your pictures of All Star Movies look good. We stayed there twice and had issues with the rooms both times with being clean and being cleaned, mold on the ceiling in the bathroom both times, and one night I opened the bed side table and there was a roach crawling around:scared1: I never had any problems at Pop and just seems like I got better service there. River wants to go back to ASM and I think we will go back for our Nov.2013 trip because your pictures look so nice.

Thats great your sister decided to go with you on the cruise and now Claire will have someone to play with! And it seems like your mom is really excited about the trip too.

We have thought about going out of Columbus too, but it just never has happened. We won't be next year, as my 2 family members who live in Columbus (and we would most likely stay with the night prior) are "against" this cruise. We always have some sort of drama going on here. :rolleyes1

That car is neat. I took one of it on the Dream too and Brook got in that one.
Sounds like we are gonna miss each other. At this point in time, no plands to stay longer. I would like to, but I don't see it happening right now, but it's more than a year away. If we don't go on a trip with Skip this year, I might "try" to go to WDW from Thursday and fly home Sunday morning. I won't worry about that till we get close to booking flights, which wil lbe quite a while yet.

Hi, there! Just wanted to sub here. I really enjoyed your last TR and am looking forward to reading.

Thanks for reading along!

Jen, I am all caught up again. It pays off only going away for two days, catching up seems so much easier ......... :rotfl2:

We loved your room at ASMo, and now I am wondering what you got to eat ...... I cannot remember if you told us or not! ;) :lmao:

I am so behind on so many threads. We have had nice weather and I'm not on the computer as much, and we had a very busy weekend.
It would be nice if everyone stopped posting for about 3 days so I could catch up with it all. :rotfl2:

I don't know if I told you or not. It was decent quick service food though! :thumbsup2

The pictures of the resort look nice, but I'm like you, Pop is still my first choice for values, I've only stayed there twice, but I love it and I like the bus system too. So glad you get to go on another cruise, of course, my thinking would be, I'm already down there, I might as well go to Disney for a day a two, but that's just me!:rotfl:

I do love Pop. it's the one and only place I have stayed at prior to this trip, so it's what I am used to as well. I did like branching out and trying new things though.
I am excited for the cruise. It is now booked! Novemeber 4th! 2012! :cool1:

I'm having a tastefully simple party today...so you know what that means...I've been cleaning and neglecting the TR.
Also good news!
We are all officially booked on the Dream next year for the Nov. 4th sailing. :cool1:
Paige was going to come, but at the last minute decided not to. She is saving to buy a house and she is really penny pinching right now. She's afraid she'll spend too much on the trip. I wish I had her will power. (well not really. LOL)

As I was cleaning yesterday, I put up a DCL poster in Claire's room that I got from the travel agent site.
It's an underwater shot at CC and had the Mickey statue underwatr with two people snorkling. Claire loved it! And now she is obsessed with snorkling at CC. So I guess I'll have to look into that for this upcoming trip.

We did the snorkeling on CC too back in 2000! It was so much fun. Everyone made fun of me because the back of my neck was the only thing that got tanned!

You'd be amazed at how much fun the ship is. ;)

Thats funny. I haven't snorkled in years, but it was fun. Claire has tried it in the pool, she has a lot of learning to do yet. LOL!

:woohoo: Love the new ticker!

Hope your party goes well, my sister had one not to long ago and there was a dip there that I could have licked the bowl!:lmao:

Claire is Kadence's hero right now! Snorkling is pretty brave in Kadence's book:thumbsup2 I bet that will be a blast and you'll get amazing photos!

I love that ticker to....but it will be there for a LONG time.

The party went well. I have a friend who sells it. I had a party 3 or 3 years ago fore here (I have had others before she started selling though) and she's been bugging me to do another one. I don't mind having htme, but I don't have a lot of real life friends who would come to them anymore. I had 5 guersts, and several orders before hand, so it was a good outcome. My one sister is going to make an online order yet, so I don't know my totaly yet, but so far it was a decent party!
I think this next summer, I'll try to teach Claire a little bit how to snorkle so she gets the hang of it before we go. She has one of those mouth things and she has played with it, but I never really worked with her on it or told her the exact way to use it.
I'll have to read some of the reviews on the excursions to see if this is any good or not.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/movies26.jpg

At some point before lunch I had also called Skip and let him know I made it “there” and all was well.

After lunch it was time to explore. I wanted to try and get as many pictures as I could while there was daylight. I had planned on being pretty busy till evening and knew that even though I could take pictures at night, I wanted as many as I could take during the daytime as well.

I found the playground right away, which is funny, because the first year we stayed at Pop I never even saw the one there….and we had walked by it almost daily.

OK, I'm as busy as a costume maker in October! Oh ..... wait..... :lmao:

So I'm way behind on everything here....... but saw talk of the ticker and just HAD to pop in to see it! :yay:

And since it's the rest of your family...... hopefully no big drama of back and forth and possible cancellation! YEAH!

Well you know my family...drama is a given!
I am even forseeing a few tears at some point. LOL!
The good thing is that Claire and I are in our own room. I did get an adjoining room with my parents, but that was so I could get up early, have the doors open and be able to leave the room. If Claire would wake up, she can go right in their room.
But I'm sure at some point, my Dad will drive me a bit bonkers.
And my sister and I can drive each other nuts too. We are very different from each other. She is more strict with some things and I'm sure she'll make some kind of comment that will rub me wrong, but I wil lmost likely do the same to her as well.

The nice thing is that I do NOT plan to plan my now around others. If we do the same things...fine, if not, I can live with that too.

Getting the breathing down can be pretty tricky! One of the kids I teach private swim lessons to spent a whole lesson with me on how to use the snorkel the right way lol. He was 5 so it took quite a few mouth fulls of water before we got it right!

I don't think it was refurbed, but I could be wrong. The values have better selectiosn than most of the other food courts...we did find that out.

I still have trouble " breathing underwater". :rotfl: My rule of thumb was always - blow out under water and breathe when you come up. Very hard to get out of that habit and have it feel "normal"

It does take awhile to get your brain to except that way of breathing...and NOT breath with your nose at all. ;)

I have to comment on what a big dork I was. I was walking around, with my camera bag on my shoulder, the SLR around my neck and my refillable mug in my hand….with some diet coke still in it.
I was wearing my white Disney 2012 t-shirt I had made for our spring trip (nice to get another extra use out of it at the “world”.) I wasn’t even thinking and would lift the camera up to take a picture, with cup in hand….and spilt pop all down my shirt. I just laughed at myself. This is only something that could be done by me. I, of course, got it down my neck too. I just kept going on and made my way towards the room while taking pictures. I would have to change before meeting up with Karin and Tom, but I wasn’t in a hurry to do it yet.

I like Herbie. I used to Love the movies as a kid and when the most recent version came out, I took Michael and Paige to see it (Claire was an infant then). BUT, I really do NOT see why this is an area at AS Movies. It’s old and not a classic like so many other Disney movies. There are so many Disney movies to choose from, and many that are still favorites and popular. I am NOT sure why this was chosen. I also feel that way about the Mighty Ducks section as well. They could’ve done a Mary Poppins area, or a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang area, or just went with some more of the animated movies.

Great photos! I agree, not sure I like Mighty Ducks, or Herbie. I kinda wish instead of toy story at Art of Animation they did a princess section as Toy Story is already at All Star Moives. What movie is that clown and ballerina from? They are the only characters there I can't figure out!

I think from Fantasia, since they are located in that section. I haven't watched that movie in its entirety ever (I don't like it) so I probably have missed it. :confused3

I have been doing a little shopping the last couple of days...for Christmas/birthdays.
Claire's b-day is in Dec. and my neices is in Jan. Claire is outgrwoing her Disney themed costumes at a very fast rate, and neither of my sister's DD have anything....well my neice dressed as Cinderella one year and my sister thinks she still has it and little Abby, who will be 3 when we cruise next year will most likely fit into that
So I have been on the hunt for something unique, along with pirate costumes.
Claire dressed up as a pirate at the age of 3 and my sister said she would like to use that for Abby. I stil lhave it, so that works out great. My sister also wanted to borrow any of the dresses that Claire had worn over the years that would possibly fit Abby...sure thing...except....I sold them all.;)
I told her I just had a closet full of costumes so over the past year I ended up selling them. The only one I had left was a small Cinderella one, which is when she told me she still had the one from Alexis at that age.

So today I got another email from the costume shop I frequent online and they were having sales...along with a percentage off, and I once again looked around. And decided on this for Claire. I actually got her the preteen size as the regular kids sizes was reviewed as running very small.

http://images.buycostumes.com/mgen/merchandiser/32752.jpg?is=375,375,0xffffff

And I thought...why not go with a theme here and have all 3 girls dress up with this "theme" one night for dinner.

So Alexis, who will be 8 at the time of the cruise, will be getting this one.

http://images.buycostumes.com/mgen/merchandiser/69065.jpg?is=375,375,0xffffff

And for Abby (who will be 3 then )

http://images.buycostumes.com/mgen/merchandiser/69657.jpg?is=375,375,0xffffff

I actually liked 2 other different Alice costumes better, but 1 didn't come in her size and the other was WAY more than I was willing to spend. I also had to NOT allow myself to buy the cute assessories that had, like purses and a wand for the Queen of Hearts.
I DI however buy both Claire and Alexis the black leggings, like shown in the Queen of Hearts picture.

Yesterday I was doing my pirate costume search. I have been looking off and on for a few weeks. I didn't want to fall in love with something and pay alot for it, so I just kept looking and hoped that at least after Hallween I would find something decent. I figured $20 was going to be my limit for this costume. I also wanted to find something new, but could live with used if it looked good. (Claires one costume that Abby will be wearing is used and it was in great shape)
After looking through costume sites and through ebay off an on, I found something I liked yesterday. Actually I had seen this costume over and over, but the price wasn't right for me yet. This one on ebay was for $15, New, and free shipping. Also they had several in the buy in now section and the size would be good. (a little big now, but with room to grow)
I emailed my sister and asked if she liked it and if she did I would get it for Alexis as well and give it to her for Christmas or her birthday. My sister liked it and so I made the purchase!

http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Girls-Child-Royal-Lady-Pirate-Captain-Costume-Buccaneer-/00/$(KGrHqYOKnUE49qmmmGhBO(rcbfzI!~~_12.JPG

I am hoping Claire's Cinderella dress will still fit her next year and she can take that as well. I doubt the Rapunzel dress will, and iffy on the Mary Poppins one. We also have a red Belle dress that Claire hasn't worn to the parks yet that may still fit her then as well. Mom has mentioned she may buy each girl a dress as we get closer to the time too. So I'll have to keep my eyes open for new ideas.
And yes, I wasn't writing my update because I was shopping online! :rolleyes1

I headed back to my room to change. I was sticky and hot as well.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/movies77.jpg

I had a key that didn’t want to work the first try….and sometimes the 2nd or third. At one time I thought I might be at the wrong room and it finally connected.

I got freshened up and took a few more pictures of the room (which I posted earlier) and then decided to head over towards the Dalmatians, Mighty Ducks, and then on to the Toy Story area and take some pictures before I met up with Tom and Karin.

I also grabbed my tripod and attached it to my bag. This was a make shift attachment and became a pain in the rear lugging it around.

We do love the Disney in your face at the Values. I know some people don't like that, but to me, it screams..."hey, you are on property".

How cute!
There all sorts of rules that have to be followed with the agencies website. Dsiney doesn't allow you "own" pictures, but we can link our blogs to it. I know she is going to redoing the site soon and has some new ideas. I can't wiat to see it.

I started making my way over to the Toy Story section….and wouldn’t you know it, I felt a few drops!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/movies112.jpg

As I got closer to the Toy Story area, the rain picked up. Not real hard, but enough to be irritating. I also didn’t want to ruin my camera, so I found a bench with an umbrella over it near by and sat down.

I think I took this picture from that spot, and then I put the camera back into my bag.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/movies113.jpg

I ended up sitting there for quite awhile. A lday sitting in the area mentioned "it must be about 3 because it's raining".
There was another man sitting there and we started talking cameras and photography. He used to work in the TV industry (If I remember correctly) and he had many years experience with cameras of all kinds. He was starting a Wedding photography business. He said he was tired of people asking him to take pictures for free, so he was starting a business and for a flat fee he would take so many pictures and then give them the disc, and that way he didn’t have to worry about prints, etc.
He gave me some pointers (which I don’t remember any more...) and after a bit I realized it was getting fairly close to 3:30. The rain had pretty much stopped at this point too. I said goodbye and made my way to the lobby to see if Tom and Karin had arrived yet.

The AS Movies is a nice place, but it kind of out of the way down by Animal Kingdom. It takes a bit to get to MK from there, but if that doesn't bother you it's a good place to stay.

I walked into the doors that go into Cinema Hall. As soon as I walked in, I spotted them just outside the gift shop. That was easy. I head worried I wouldn’t recognize them or find them.
We said hi and hugged. I have to admit, I was also relieved that I could understand them. They are from Austria, (for those who don’t know) and I worried about their accents a bit. I sometimes have a hard time understanding thick accents, but I had no problem at all with them. I asked Karin later if they could understand me OK as well, (I sometimes talk too fast) and they said yes.

They asked to see my room, so I led the way and showed them around. I knew this was nothing compared to OKW, where they were staying, but they seemed to like the refurbishment. They had stayed here several years ago themselves.

We then exchanged gifts. I gave them both a T-shirt I had made with a Disney Dream Design on it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/2011Dreammmpreserversmall.jpg

I also gave them each a t-shirt that had Skip’s tractor pulling logo on it as well.

They gave me a bag full of goodies.
There was a cookie kit for Claire, which we made once I got home and they were so yummy, and Karin had made these really cute “Mickey pants” tissue holders. I just love it and it is always in my “Disney Dooney purse(s).”
Also a pot holder from Austria, which is technically too pretty to use, but I have, so I get good use out of it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/cookiegifts.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/tissuepouch.jpg

Also in the bag was a bunch of candy. Claire loved it and gobbled most of it up with in a few days of me being home. And an Austrian CD as well.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/candyandcd.jpg

After a look around the room, we headed off to their rental car…which was a Ford convertible Mustang! I was riding in style!

We headed off to OKW (Old Key West) to have a look around their room as well. After all, this was an educational trip for me and I needed to see as much as I could..right?

On the way over, Karin told me that they had already eaten at Wolfgang Pucks twice. They had just arrived the day before, but it is a favorite of theirs. I have to admit, when she said the name, at first I had no clue what she said, and she repeated it and then it clicked. She said it the “correct” way, not the American way that I say it! LOL! Wolfgang sounded much better the way she said it and she said Puck more like how I would say pook.

We soon arrived!

Tom did a fancy skid into the parking lot and the car did a 360 turn, landing us perfectly in our parking spot!

Ok, I might be exaggerating a bit on that one! LOL!

Karin showed me her little friend she had brought along.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/atennamickey.jpg

Their room was on the 2nd floor so we headed up and I tried to get a few of the details.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/okwoutsidelight.jpg

Karin took me right out to the balcony and showed me their view. WOW!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/okwview3.jpg

She also took me around through the laundry room, bathroom and into the bedroom and I have to admit, I was a bad picture taker here. I was in awe at how much room there was and how nice it was. I missed a lot of the picture opportunities.

I did get a picture of the bed though.

A glance back at the bathroom.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/okwbathroom.jpg

The main living area with kitchen was so big. I was shocked at the size. This is bigger than some people apartments. I think I have personally lived in smaller space than this before.

Karin had Tom get us some glasses of wine and we sat down to talk. I’m not a super big wine drinker, but what ever they had…it was good! They kept on insisting I eat something or drink something. I then accused them of trying to get me drunk so they could laugh at me make a fool of myself. Every time my glass was about half empty. Tom would quick rush to the fridge to get more wine. Even if I told him no…he didn’t listen.

We chatted till about 5:30 about a little bit of everything. It felt like we knew each other forever. We talked about DVC and they told me why they would never buy it…and the funny thing is, on their last day of their trip….they bought! I am so happy and jealous!

At 5:30 I decided it was probably time for me to move on. I didn’t want to take away from any of their plans.
We decided to do a few pictures before leaving. I hadn’t pulled out my SLR, so I just set the timer on my point and shoot. It wasn’t too bad, but I really should’ve put it on a tripod for a better shot…I was too lazy.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/karintomandi.jpg

And the one Tom took. He got us much better in the shot. I can’t remember for sure, but he might’ve had a mini tripod.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/DSC_0236.jpg

I then asked them if they would pose with Phineas and Ferb!

And they took one of me.

It's a fun resort. I only had a little time and I spent it expliring ant taking pictures. I would like to enjoy it a litttle bit longer. But after touring so many resorts this trip, it's hard to say where I want to stay, as so many were just great.

It was awesome. I am so glad I had the opportunity to meet them. When I saw my dates and got my airfare all take care of, I looked at her dates and asked if she was interested in a meet.

Sorry I was way behind. I've been so busy trying to get ready for my trip.

I totally agree with you on ASMo. I have no idea why they would make a MD and HTLB area when there are many other movies much more popular than those. I like the classics myself. :confused3

LOVE all the costumes you picked out! They are all very cute!

Your day is looking great so far. Thats so cool you got to do a dismeet and get to check out OKW!

I got pictures of River 2 years in a row in that television at ASMo. One time his Mickey ears fell off and out the front of the tv and I got a shot of him hanging out of it trying to pick them up it was very cute.

I can't wait to hear about the rest of your day.

I am really enjoying your pictures of the resort. Thank you for posting so many! It seems like lately I keep reading TR's where everyone stays at Pop, and I start thinking that all of the All Star resorts are not as nice as Pop. It was nice to see a lot of details that I had never seen before.

I love your Dis meet! I have gotten to meet people from the Dis before and it has always been an amazing experience.

I am really really excited. I just have so much to do. I think once all my chores/packing is done, then I will be able to truly get excited! :woohoo:

I found those Disigns here on the DIS. I altered them in Word to fit what I needed. Here's the link to the files:

http://www.4shared.com/dir/18428241/4b39460d/sharing.html#dir=18428241

She's got a ton of cute stuff on there so be prepared to want to do it all! I used the 'bottle cap' art for the sand bottle tags, and the 'sucker wrappers' for the bookmarks. Then I used the 'bag toppers' for the candy bags. I just kept playing around with it until it printed off the right size for snack sized ziploc bags. I wanted to more using her designs, but I figured I had enough. Have fun... it's addictive!

Btw, you'll be seeing my version of your pillowcase in my next update. I had already decided to make a tote bag for DD to get the characters to sign, but then I fell in love with the pillowcase you got for Claire, so we made one of those too. I thought that was a really cute idea! Thanks for sharing that one!

It was time for me to leave.
Karin then gave me a pin for my lanyard. I don’t collect pins, but had on the ones I earned from the Disney College of Knowledge. The average Disney goer does not have these, so I thought it was fun to wear these around. Karin gave me one for the “Mickey’s Magical Party” in Disneyland Paris. I was excited to have another unusual pin.

I had a wonderful time, but I didn’t want to take up too much of their day. I asked how to get to DTD and they insisted that they could drive me. I assured them that it was no big deal, but they were not taking no…kind of like the wine they were pouring for me all afternoon!

We headed out to the car and Tom put the top down this time!

I took a few shots on the way out. I wanted to capture some of the beautiful grounds.

Karin pointed out things to me as we drove along. Even though we usually have a car while at WDW, we mostly use the buses, and I never really do a whole lot of looking at details of the area.

We passed the Treehouse Villas. That was pretty exciting. I never knew really where they were, and I could catch glimpses of them.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/treehousevillas.jpg

And the fire station!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/firestation.jpg

Before I knew it, we had arrived at DTD. We said goodbyes and I thanked them for driving me around in the “cool” car. I was very happy to have met them. They are just wonderful, friendly, generous people.

I turned and took one last picture as the drove away.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/mustang.jpg

I turned to walk into Downtown Disney. This was the first I have ever seen the T-Rex.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/trexmarketplace.jpg

Now that the sun was shining and I had time to explore a bit, I put the point and shoot camera away and pulled back out the big boy.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/rainforestcafe.jpg

I took a picture of the T-Rex sign and realized I had some major fog on the lens…along with major sun on the lens. This is what you get when that happens…and I even tried to fix it a bit.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/trexsign.jpg

I stopped between the new lego store and World of Disney and let the lens defog.
After it looked good, I shot some of the new lego structures.

2 YEARS! Oh My, I would be going crazy....but at leaxst you do know when you will be going. I have no clue when I'l lbe at the world again, though I hope in the next year or so. I am being more relaxed about because I know we'll be crusing next year at least. I do keep pricing out a few nights stay at WDW though before or after the cruise. If I went on Halloween I could catch the MNSSHP, something I don't see us as a family ever making it too. But then with QS dining and 3 nights stay and 2 day tickets, it would add another $1000 for Claire and I. I don't think I could get Claire there and then tell her we can only go to the party and not go to the parks the other days. LOL!

Thanks for reading along. I DO LOVE to take pictures. Editing on the other hand...well I like to do it, but it takes me forever to do and I just can't post htme as is....something in my brian makes me make sure I made the picture the clearest, sharpest it could possibly be (well that I can do at least). I have nevert had the fog up issue before till it did it on the cruise. (though that was the first big trip that camera ever went on, now that I thin kabout it, but the lenses were the same) And then it did it a few times this trip as well. Must've been the humidity. I think normally when we go early March, it can be pretty warm, but not so much humid.

Next, I went over to World of Disney. It was such a strange thing to go in this store without someone with me wanting EVERTHING. I really love the 40th anniversary design of the Dooneys, but I can’t bring myself to pay the extra amount they want for these purses. I had a hard enough time buying the ones I do have. Ok, maybe it wasn’t that hard, but I can’t see myself paying extra for the same style of purse, only to have the 40th design on it. I wish I could though…I love them.

Now if you think I just went through this store taking pictures…you are sadly mistaken! I was on a mission to find a few things. I figured since I could get 10% off using my Disney Visa, I might as well get the items I KNEW I wanted to get now.

If you have read my past TR’s, you know I have a Disney sweatshirt/hoodie obsession. I have 1 hoodie and 1 sweatshirt with the year 2007, one with the 2008 logo, one with the 2009 logo as well as another hoodie I just couldn’t live without from that trip as well. I didn’t make it to Disney in 2010, but my parents did and brought me back the 2010 sweatshirt. While cruising the Dream, Claire and I both got Dream inaugural voyage hoodies, and then when at WDW I looked for a 2011 one. They had like 1 adult style and I did NOT like it. I was bummed. It was going to be my first trip since 2007 that I didn’t get a sweatshirt with the year on it. I decided on a pink tie-dye style one and I do love it. You probably wonder what one does with all these hoodies…..well I wear them ALL the time. Just this week I have worn 4 different ones for different things.
Recently, while doing some online shopping, I found a new 2011 styled hoodie and I liked it. So my mission was to find it and get it!

And sure enough, I did!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/hoodie1.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/hoodie2.jpg

I also needed a new watch. I have had the same watch since 2007, which I bought in MK. I have changed the band several times, but this last time I seem to be having a hard time getting one to fit properly. The bands had changed the way they attach, and I keep catching the little clasp thing and the band falls off the watch. Luckily I have found the watch every time this has happened, but it’s time for a new one. (It actually happened this past weekend when I put that watch one to go shopping). I had looked for one here and there this past Spring, but never settled on one, so now it was time to do some serious looking. I narrowed it down to a few and then I decided this one was my favorite…and I might look at the others on a future trip.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/giraffewatch2.jpg

I got Claire a baby Dumbo. I thought this guy was so cute last trip and had decided that I would get it for her this trip.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/dumboplush.jpg

I also bought her some Princess tattoos, which I guess I never took a picture of.

I made it out of there alive, but a bit poorer.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/wod11.jpg

I then notice the Arribas sign. I had heard in the past how others have gotten a glass slipper there for their little princesses. I decided I should check this out too.

I found several different sizes and decided to just go with a small one for Claire with her birthstone on it. I had it engraved with her name as well.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/glassslipper2.jpg

I then shot this picture because I just loved the window.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/ghiradelli.jpg

The next stop was on my list to do as well…….

I love that purse with the mickey balloons and I came close to buying it this past trip but I really can't see myself spending that $$ on a purse when I hate to carry them most of the time and usually just leave it at home or in the trunk and take my wallet in my pocket. :scared1:

I was also on a mission to find a watch this past trip but I never did find one I liked.

Love :lovestruc the Glass slipper!!

[QUOTE=jenseib;42999756]2 YEARS! LOL!

Gosh, I'll have to find the receipt, but I am thinking with engraving and tax it was like $17 for the small one...maybe less.

The watch you picked is amazing! I really like it, and now I may have to look for it on my next trip!

I have to say that I don't have a daughter, and I am not much of a girlie girl, but I loved the glass slipper. I didn't know that they sold those! It looks so perfect with the name engraved on the side. If I had a daugther, I would get one for her.

Good job shopping!:thumbsup2

I have read about the slippers for a few years, but I never saw the store...and when I did this time I just had to go in and look. they were right by the door, so I didn't get to far in.

Thanks for reading along! Yes, I did stay in a preferred room. I think the Toy Story, Fantasia and Dalmatians are all preferred, while Might Ducks and Herbie are standard. I had no desire to stay in either of those sections, so I went with preferred. We have done preferred many times at Pop as well, and I personally like it better. Not that the walk is so bad, but because I tend to want to be near the pool and closer to Classic Hall and all the action.

Passporter is a site that has a lot of Disney info. They also put out books, which I highly recommend....and on there site passporters.com you can sign up for their newletter. They also have an online forum and pictures and all sorts of stuff. It's not nearly the size of Dis, but I do get some good info there as well.

Awesome news about the photo, Jen!

Once Upon a Toy was my next stop. I was on a mission to get Claire a box full of potato head parts.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/clubpenguin.jpg

I packed a box of parts as full as I could get it and had a CM double check to be sure it was “legal”. This ended up being a HUGE hit with Claire. We pulled the potato bodies out at home and she played with them non-stop for several days.

Some of the parts

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/potatoeparts.jpg

And a few more…she was yelling at me for “moving” them so I never could get pictures of all of them. LOL!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/chefpotatohat.jpg

That picture also includes the backside of the potholder from Karin and Tom…and some bracelets from AEP.

Of course she couldn’t let me take pictures with out her doing a little posing with a potato head.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/claireandpiratepotato.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/earlofsandwichsign.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/seasalt.jpg

I ordered the Full Montagu. I normally order the Tuna…which is WONDERFUL…..but this was a learning trip, so I went outside my comfort zone again…and I am happy I did, the sandwich was great!

While eating, I called Claire and filled her in on my day and let her know that I had already bought her a few surprises. She was excited and doing well without me. She went to a movie with my parents and then got dropped back off at Skip’s Moms house.

I also did a little facebook updating from my phone and just sat and relaxed a bit.

After I ate, I went to explore the Christmas store.

It was getting a little late now. I wanted to stop off at AS Movies to drop off my bags before heading over the Poly, where I planned to watch the fireworks. BUT…I wasn’t leaving without a stop at Goofy’s, where I was going to get chocolate dipped pretzel rods. I have a major thing for white chocolate on pretzels!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/goofycoffee.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/goofys.jpg

I made my order of 3 pretzels and waited…taking pictures around the store. I swear it seems to take forever to have pretzels made here, but at least this time I got what I wanted. In 2009 the guy told me I couldn’t have white chocolate drizzled over a dipped white chocolate pretzel and he was slower than molasses. The girl today was perky and went right to work. It took awhile, but at least I could see progress. I got my pretzels dipped in white chocolate, rolled in peanut butter chips and then drizzled with white chocolate. MMMMMM!

Yum! I have never made it to Goofy's. I need an AEP so I can do all the things I don't usually get to do. I think it's great that you spent so much time going out of your "comfort zone". It seems like small stuff, ordering a different sandwich, but really, if you always do it one way, then even a little change like that is awesome. I want to have a trip like that, where I do things I wouldn't normally. I have some pretty serious Disney routines... :lmao:

I have a lot of Disney routines too. I really wanted to try a few new things. I did do some old traditions...Mickey bar....but I wanted to mkae it a learning experience. The whole first day was new for me, since I normally am rushing to Mk as soon as I can.

I bought Kadence the same Mickey head sundress Claire's wearing in the photo above! We got it in the store where Jasmine & Aladdian do their M&G.

I debated on the dress the whole trip, and I bought it the last day. I wasn't sure on size either, as I wanted it to last for a future trip, so I went with the 10 which is pretty big...but by the time we go next, it should fit pretty good....and if not I can do something with the straps so her "goods" aren't showing. :rolleyes1

My treats were finally done! Boy, I didn’t expect THAT price! In 2009, the treats were a snack credit. They no longer are, but I still didn’t think it would be over $9.00 for 3 pretzels…….Oh well….I would enjoy them.

I made my way towards the bus stop.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/letthememoriesbegin.jpg

I had to wait a bit for the bus, but it wasn’t too bad for DTD. I find the bus system there is the WORST of all of WDW. It just takes forever usually. There were some line guard type guys and I was impressed. They really made people stick to a spot, no leaning on the rope, no line jumping…it was kind of nice actually. The bus came and I rode in a pretty crowded bus back. Of course we had to stop over on the other side of DTD (where I never see people get on or off), and then stop at the other 2 All Star resorts as well. I talked to a lady next to me on the bus. She was very nice. She was there for an anniversary trip and was having the time of her life.
I made it back to Movies and took a few pictures. I actually should’ve went straight back to the room and left my bags and got moving again, but I didn’t.

I dropped off my bags, freshened up a bit, the best you can do with sweltering heat at all hours of the day and night and worked my way back to the bus.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/charactures.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/moviesgiftshop2.jpg

As I walked to the bus stop, I saw a bus just pulling out and the MK line was empty! Dang it!!!! I JUST missed the MK bus…..I should’ve moved a little faster. Time was flying by and I knew I would be cutting it very close at getting to the Poly before Wishes started.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/moviesmagickingdom.jpg

I tried a few shots in the dark while waiting…but they really didn’t turn out so great.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/darkmoviessign.jpg

A bus finally arrived and we were on our way. I quickly walked to the monorail and rode it over to the Poly. I watched my watch tick tick tick…I pulled out my camera and started setting it to the settings I wanted….tick tick tick…. I pulled out my remote shutter release and attached it to the camera…tick tick tick….I even got the tripod out and extended it as best I could….tick tick tick…..We made it to Poly and I went at a jog to get to the beach. The fireworks were starting already.
I have NEVER been to the Poly and had I known better, I wouldn’t have set up shop right there near the pool. I found out later…AFTER the fireworks, that there were better views just a little further down the beach.
OH well. I know for next time. I have to say I did not enjoy the view and I was just stressed and sweating so much at this point,...... that it took this neat, new experience and made it less magical. I am glad I did it though. I just wish I would’ve made it a bit earlier so I could’ve scoped out my options and play with my camera a bit.
This is what I took. I am NOT happy with the shots at all.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/jenseib/AEP%20day%201%20aug%202011/polyfireworks4.jpg

And that’s the end of the half way decent pictures. I took many more, but they are big blobs OR I cut half of them off. One shot is very colorful…but you only see a very small portion of them because I didn’t have them in the frame well. I guess it was a good learning experience.
I then decided to try and take a few more shots of the view.

your pics are awesome. Your friends that you met up with, was that a 1 bedroom at OKW. That's our home resort as of last Nov. We stayed in a studio at OKW in May which is very spacious, then in Sept my dh and I stayed in a studio at the WL which was nice and we are staying in a 1 bedroom at OKW and can't wait.

I think you are referring to the Mickey looking carmal apples. I didn't have a Disney version, but Patty, one of my fellow TA's makes those and they are really good!

I have NEVER been to the Poly and had I known better, I wouldn’t have set up shop right there near the pool. I found out later…AFTER the fireworks, that there were better views just a little further down the beach.

You can get better pictures a little further down the beach. The island isn't in the way. You will know better next time.

The description of your pretzel rods made me think, "That's my kind of pretzel!" I really hope you are going to post a picture of them because I need a vision of what I will be buying next time.

We watched the fireworks from the Poly beach one time, and we sat down the beach a little, just because the area near the pool was pretty full. We felt like we had a great view of the castle and the fireworks. It definitely was a Disney moment for us, because we had no idea what to expect. Hopefully you will be able to do it again soon and get the outcome that you wanted.

I did see that after the facr. which really bummed me out. But I was in such a hurry that I didn't even look, I just set up shot and started shooting. I will definately get their early next time so I can take time to set up and get what I want....or at least try.

They are so tasty...I do have a picture, whic I think wil lbe posted in tomorrows update, but it's not a great picture. Terrible lighting. But they tasted wonderful! :lovestruc

I don't know when I'll be back to Disney, but if I get a chance, I do want to try it again. I kepp trying to think of ways ot add a few days to the cruise trip next Nov..either before or after. If I go before, I can probably catch the last MNNSHP if I fly in on Halloween. If I go after I could probably catch the first MVMCP. I've already ran the numbers and it would be kind of costly to go for those extra nights. If free dining was out then, it would be more diable...but I'll have to wait and see how things work out.

Good idea! You won't regret it. I don't know if you have an AP, but if you don't, you should get 5 day hoppers with the AEP. If staying a day later, you can not go to the park on one of your busy days (Or your MVMCP day) and save that day for your last day. On our Cirque Du Solei (I know I boutchered that spelling) I never made it to a park so I could've gone to a park if I stayed on day later. They do have an expiration but I think it was a few days after AEP ended. You are going to have such a good time. Are you doing a PTR? If not, I sure hope you do a TR when you get back. I would love to compare notes.
One of the best things we got was a book for travel agents with all sort of resort info. In my opinion this book should be given to every TA who graduated the CoK. It's very helpful.

I love those pretzel rods. I got some as snack credits in May but they were the already made ones, I guess the "Make your own" are the ones that aren't snack credits.

I just now noticed that your new trip report is up and caught up with what I had missed so far. Sounds like a fun first day.

The refurbed rooms at All Star Movies look nice, but I miss the bedspread, old movie posters, star showe curtain and the popcorn lightning fixtures from the old one. I'm glad to see the film strip tile mosaic in the shower is still there though.

Looking forward to more updates. :)

Well, I guess I'm not getting a full day by myself there.. I'm leaving on Saturday, but I am thinking that we get done pretty early on Friday so I will have all day Friday to myself.

I'm not doing a PTR, I am going to try to finish up my TR from LAST November! :scared1: It's my goal to finish that this week.. I may have time to start a PTR, its just so hard for me to get on here that much to do that I have been so crazy busy!!

Hi Meeko! :cool1: I heard the old rooms were pretty nice, but just getting worn out looking. I like the new ones, but they do have a more generic feel now as all the Values seem to be taking on this look.

I am going to be the odd one out here…but I wasn't overly impressed with the Polynesian. I thought it looked worn and nothing super fantastic. Maybe if I had some day time experience there, I might change my mind, but the only great thing going for it was being on the monorail line. I think it is grossly overpriced. But again, I have never stayed there, and not been in a room…so if anyone would like to pay for me to stay, I will and get you an honest opinion!
It was around 11 now and I headed back to MK to catch a bus. It was PACKED at the MK bus terminals.. I wasn’t even thinking before hand, but I believe the park closed at 11 (though it had EMH’s till 2) I debated heading back to AS Movies or going to Animal Kingdom Lodge to check it out. I was just too tired though and got in line for Movies…..and waited…and waited…and waited some more. I saw about 3 of every other bus come by, but no Movies bus. It was still incredibly HOT, I was sweaty, near a bunch of other sweaty people, I was tired, thirsty, and I had the worst headache. I waited over 30 minutes before a bus came. It was ridiculous. But 2 did show up, so I made it on a VERY full bus…ALL going to Movies. No bus sharing this time around….YAY!
It was right about midnight when I arrived back at Movies. I quickly ran back to my room, grabbed my mug and went and refilled it before the food court closed. It was actually pretty busy in there too.
I took some ibuprofen and let it do it’s magic!

Time for a bit of a snack!

Let's see what all I wanted to comment on......oh yeah, you did a great job stuffing the box full of Potato Head parts. You got a bunch!

Good for you trying something new at Earl of Sandwich. Do you know that we have never eaten there? I keep saying we just have to try it but never do.

I agree that the buses at DTD are the worst. It's hard to figure out which side goes with which resort and then they always seem to run late. At least they had castmembers watching over the bus stop the day you were there.

I hate that you didn't get to the Polynesian in enough time to scope out a really good spot to watch and take pictures of the fireworks. We watched them from the Poly one year after the luau. Speaking of the Polynesian, I kinda sorta agree with you on the Poly. I like it but I don't love it. But, I haven't stayed there either (too hard of a hit to my pocketbook) so I can't form too much of an opinion on it.

Sorry it took so long to get a bus. It happens to me too, when it is late and crowded, it seems like the busses come for every resort except the one you are staying at!

Love your pics of the resort. We stayed at ASM a few years ago, in the Toy Story section, it's so neat. That big Woody didn't always have that film strip wall around him, I think too many people were climbing on him since he was easy to get on because he is sitting.

Thanks for posting the picture of the pretzels. It was everything I'd hoped & dreamed it would be. Definitely getting that next time.

The Poly is so much better in the day time, in my opinion. The grounds are really relaxing when you have been going all day at a park. We like to sit outside and just listen to the music near the pool with a drink. I have not stayed there, but my sister did last Christmas so we checked out her room. I will agree with you that the rooms are very over priced. She had the 40% off PIN code or she would not have stayed there. I will say that the rooms are HUGE compared to other resorts and we had 5 adults and one child hanging out in the room, and we did not feel cramped at all. There are other nice amenities, but overall you are paying for the location and the larger rooms, I think.

I did see pictures of years ago without the film strip, and thats what I heard. Too many kis were climbing all over it so they put up a fence. Buttmer, because it takes away from the picture, but I can see their point too.

I stayed at the Poly last year. The big plus is the monorail, but for the money I would rather stay at AKL. Add a monrail there, and I'm hooked, either that or give me a back way into the Animal Kingdom Park that I can walk through instead of waiting 20 minutes for a bus that takes 5 minutes to get to the park.

Your Pretzel rods looked sooo yummy!

I am really amazed at all the themeing at Movies!

Buses can be frustrating....but they can be fun and exciting too.

Great report! Joining in. I had the opportunity to be a Disney by myself 2 years ago for a day, it was strange for me. I love your pictures!

Can't wait to read more!

BTW, I read your trip report about the Dream before we went on our cruise on Sept 4th on the Dream. You had some great tips that we used. Thanks!

Thanks for joining in! I had a good time alone, it was different, but the nice thing swa it truely wasn't alone because I met up with my fellow TA's the next day. I think if I did the whole trip solo it would be a bit weird....but I would do it if I had too.

I went and sat on a bench for a bit. It was still really hot. I was amazed how it never cooled down even slightly.
I started talking to some people there. One guy had recently moved to South Carolina. I said to him that he must not be originally from the South because he had no accent. Sure enough he was from New York state. Then something funny happened. I have mentioned this a few times in the past in other reports….he asked me if I was from Ohio. He said I definitely had that accent.
I must REALLY have the Ohio/Michigan sound. Though I think I sound completely normal…even monotone. But I have had this asked of me MANY times over the past few years. Most ask if I am from Michigan. When we traveled in Tennessee a few years back I had someone ask me… and then again that same trip as we were driving home and IN Southern Ohio a guy at a restaurant asked me as well. (Southern Ohioans do tend to have a bit of a southern accent). And since then I have been asked/told that randomly as well. No one says anything to my husband…just me. But I think we all sound the same. LOL!
After talking a bit to him and several other people, (it was amazing how many people were still out and about that late at night), I wandered around a bit more to get a few last shots for the night.

This girl posing was actually one of the people I had talked to earlier on the bench. She asked what I was doing and I told her, so she struck a pose. LOL

I headed back to the room to call it a night.
First I played around with Phineas and Ferb and took a few shots to send Claire.

It was around 1 AM now so I lay down and wrote up some notes of the day and watch a little bit of Stacy. My eyes got a bit too droopy and close to 2 I was out like a light.

Cool night pics of the resort. Wow you were up late! Hope you don't have too early of a morning! I hear you about the accent thing. I am originally from Philadelphia and that area has a pretty distinctive accent (and it's own slang/vocabulary too) and I have had people ask me here in NY if I am from Philly.

Very cool night pictures of the resort. I am a big fan of the Toy Story movies so I really enjoyed this last set of pictures.

That's funny that someone asked where you were from based on your voice. I have no idea what somebody from Ohio is supposed to sound like so I probably would have never asked. We speak with a super Southern accent so I am used to people asking me where I am from when we go to other States.

I had no idea there was THAT much Toy Story stuff there! If it wasn't for wanting to try AoA I would totally be staying at Movies next time! Jack ADORES Toy Story (and all other Pixar movies).
