Was your trip in August if I am remembering right? Did they have lots of fall decorations out then?

The Envelope of Doom is the WORST. :sad2:

Oh no- the envelope of doom! I always hate seeing that.:headache:
It looks like it was a great beginning of the morning! I love that family picture with Chip and Dale.
I am so excited- tomorrow we are adding at least one (possibly two) nights on to our Poly vacation. We will no longer be going to Marco Island, as DH's parents who live there are not going to be around. It works for me- more time in WDW!:cool1:

That envelope stinks!! :headache:

We sure lucked out on the character pics that morning!:thumbsup2

So did you add 1 or 2 nights??? :yay:

Looks like the beginning to great day! I turned the dreaded 40 on that day. :( The family pic with Chip and Dale is cute!

Oh no, the dreaded 40!! :scared1:  I hope you had a great day!

Thanks, I was really happy with that picture! :goodvibes

what a bummer! Every time I see that envelope i think "Oh,Crap!"..and why is that? We know it's the end of the trip,..it's like that little envelope ended the trip--guess I think that when I get there it will magically go on forever!!
Dontcha just loooove the TTA? that's one of my favorite things!
And i love your sundress!! Very cute!

I know, that's exactly it. I guess we think if that dang thing never comes then we never have to leave!! :lmao:

The TTA is great! :thumbsup2 That dress was so light and comfortable, I just loved it!

I LOATHE that stupid envelope.
:headache::headache::headache::headache::headache:

sigh.

It's like it's saying Good Morning, Now, get the heck out so we can fill your spot.

:sad2:

Love that you tried to make the best of it and had a good last day.

Loved your sundress. So cute!

The boys looked so cute with the characters--- lucky find!:goodvibes

Hope the rest of the day was just as fun.:wizard:

That envelope is dumb. Just dumb. I wish it would come the last morning and not the one before!!

Exactly, it's like get you and your crap out by this time tomorrow! :confused3:laughing:

We managed to make it a great day anyway though. :goodvibes

That dress was so plain and not anywhere close to being my favorite of all the dresses I bought for the trip, that's probably why I was wearing it on the last day. But it ended up to be the most comfortable of all of them!! :upsidedow

We did luck out finding the characters right there, and with very little wait! :yay:

Oooh, the envelope of doom!:scared1:

You do look just lovely in your dress - all of them have been so cute! I'm guessing they helped you keep cool and comfy!

TTA People Mover is so fun - I love the views from up there!

The family shot with Chip and Dale is a good one!

Yes, the dresses were cool & comfy. Glad I got them. And hopefully it will be nice and warm on the next trip and I can use them again! :thumbsup2

I just love the views from the TTA!

Oh no .. NOT the envelope !! :scared1: (hate that darn envelope :sad2:)

Yep, there it was laying right on my Poly floor. :sad2: The nerve of that thing!!

:rotfl:

I always turn around and say good-bye to the castle and MK when we leave our final day there. Just me though. Not the boys. :rotfl:

Shelly, your dress is cute stuff!! :thumbsup2

Was your trip in August if I am remembering right? Did they have lots of fall decorations out then?

The Envelope of Doom is the WORST. :sad2:

Thanks Kelli! :goodvibes

Yeah, it was August 26-Sept 4. The fall/Halloween decorations showed up at MK on Aug 30 I think. I was surprised!

We added two nights, the only problem was, the Poly was sold out/not available with our discount code!:headache: so, we switched to the BWI! Im not complaining...I love it there, as you know!:cloud9: The whole family can’t wait. We will be at the Poly eventually! We have an ADR at 'Ohana, so we will be doing lots of exploring!
Also, we will be walking over to the BC a bunch so if you need me to check anything out for you, let me know!!

The envelope of Doom, finding it does put a slight damper on your last day.

Glad you made rope drop on your last day, and I was right about it being a MK day ;)

Shelly great pics with Stitch and Chip and Dale, especially like the one of your entire family, I know getting the character pics with your DSs had to put a big smile on your face.

Yippie for Double Digits 99 Days !:banana::banana:

I hit 44 today !

And I haven't changed resorts since Nov 30. :rotfl: I have actually fallen in love :love:with the idea of staying at BW.

I would really love to stay at Poly someday but DH does not care for it. Maybe :idea:if I used the fireworks on the beach to tempt him but Disney needs to give better discounts to or I might never get to stay on the monorail line.

We were talking about maybe driving down next trip and go to US, we agreed we want to stay at Portofino Bay and , DH saw this Hotel in Charolette NC , Mills Hotel?? or something that he wants to stay at for a day or two. If I can pull it off Maybe a couple of days at Disney will be in order too.:cloud9:

After we were done with the characters I guess CoP had been long forgotten about and DS12 & I headed to Space Mtn and DH & DS10 were headed back to Buzzlightyear!

After a few rides on those we all met back up and found ourselves in Fantasyland!

The boys decided to do the Mad Tea Party since there was no wait. DH & I decided to sit that one out!

Then it was past some ugly construction walls and onto the Carousal. Where I soon realized that I should not have worn a sundress if I wanted to ride this!! :lmao: So I stayed back and took pics!

What a wonderful trip you guys have had. Question for you - did you guys have a schedule for your days, or did you just fly by the seat of your pants? I am in the middle right now. I know what we want to see, but am not sure the best times to see the attractions, or the best times to even go to the parks! :S

It really was wonderful. :goodvibes

We have a schedule. I make it up before we go and we usually stick to it. But sometimes there is a day or 2 in there that are up in the air -- like our last full day on this trip, I knew it would be either MK or Epcot, but didn't set anything in stone. We also did not have an ADR on this day, so that helps keep the day flexible too.

The best time to see the parks not so crowded and to ride the rides is at park opening, and on a non EMH day. I always find Tuesdays to be a great day for DHS, Wednesdays to be the best day for MK, and Thursdays for Epcot. So those are the days we plan to get the most done in the parks.

Hope that helps a bit! :)

WOW!

That picture with DS12 headed towards Space---- it was so empty looking! Like you were there alone!

Great time to be in WDW, wasn't it???:wizard:

Have you ever ridden the Tea Cups? I haven't since my first trip when I was 2. I remember being sick for a few hours afterwards. So my kids have never had the opportunity. Being that they get motion sickness anyway- on things like Star Tours--- yeah, not gonna happen.

I will be so dang happy when Fantasyland is finished. I'm tired of looking at those ugly walls. It feels so unmagical.

And come on, you know you wanted to ride the carousel in that light, billowy dress you had.

Great update!!!:surfweb:

I don't think I've ever ridden the Tea Cups. You know me -- I can do high & fast, but not spinny. But I don't get motion sickness on things like Star Tours. :confused3 Weird. DH usually rides the Tea Cups with the kids, but he sat it out this time.

When is Fantasyland supposed to be finished anyway??? 2013? Isn't it supposed to open phases though, starting later this year? Or did just dream that up? :rotfl:

There are parts of fantasyland that will open this fall (yay for me! I'm going in October!) and the rest should be done by mid-2013.

I can't believe you didn't want to ride side saddle!!

So I get motion sick on the tea cups - even watching them makes me nauseous! I take dramamine before we go on cruises or even to the parks for things like BTMRR and Soarin (which I love) and I'm fine. What about Star Tours? I've never been on it, and would like to, but I'm concerned I'll feel sick. HOw long does the ride last anyway? Anyone have any advice, thoughts?

It sure does! Thanks so much. :worship: I guess I was/am a bit confused about RD, some people swear by it, whereas other people avoid at all costs. When I read the comparisons of the two, I often lean towards avoiding RD. I guess maybe because we have no ADR's, just a quick-service dining plan, and we are not going on many of the main attractions at the different parks, I feel like we can be a bit more flexible, since we will have more time to see the things we want to see. Does that make sense?

MK was definately a good choice for your last day. I have never seen that sword come out except on televised shows, I know it did not budge when DS :littleangel: tried it our first trip. There must be a button someplace that a CM pushes to release that sword.

I love the teacups one of my favorite rides in MK but I will not do Space Mt or Splash Mt or BTMR fast and height I do not like but spinning is ok with me.

I have never rode the carousel, I loved riding them when I was little and would love to but I just have never done it as an Adult other than to stand beside my DS when they were little so they felt secure on the horse.

No line at a small world that was lucky.

Dumbo or rather Double Dumbo was suppose to be up and running by February but now they have moved the re-opening to March 12 so I guess all I wll see will be those Ugly walls tool :sad2:

What's up with Sword in the Stone anyway??? I found a whole thread on that saying some kids have pulled it up and their brother/sister couldn't do it but then they were able to do it again. I guess I need to read through the thread to find out. Have you heard about this phenomenon?
My kids would rather die than go on IASM. I dragged them on in August and they were ready to kill me!:rotfl: They hadn't been on that ride since their first trip. They told me NEVER again. So that ride is now off limits. Ah the teacups- I won't go on those either.

Did you get a lot of snow? We're getting it now calling for 4-6 in. I hate snow it ruins everything. DS14's hockey game got cancelled. It drives me crazy being stuck in the house. Makes me feel like I should be cleaning or something. lol

Okay, I didn't dream that up!! So mid 2013 for it to be all done? Last time I was there it looked like they still had quite aways to go. Hope it all comes together in time! :goodvibes

:lmao:I guess I could have ridden side saddle!! :rotfl2:

I don't know about Star Tours. I can't see how it would cause motion sickness, but I guess some people are more sensitive to that than others. I think it's more jerky than anything. Think Dinosaur. I'm not sure how long ST lasts, doesn't seem too long to me. I think you would be fine.

Well, what did ya come up with??? Where's that ticker? popcorn::

Lucky -- getting to see some of FL opened up!!! :cool1:

It sure does! Thanks so much. :worship: I guess I was/am a bit confused about RD, some people swear by it, whereas other people avoid at all costs. When I read the comparisons of the two, I often lean towards avoiding RD. I guess maybe because we have no ADR's, just a quick-service dining plan, and we are not going on many of the main attractions at the different parks, I feel like we can be a bit more flexible, since we will have more time to see the things we want to see. Does that make sense?

I would never avoid RD. I don't know why anyone would say that!! :confused3

Sure, it looks crowded when you get there but once all those people go their own ways it is not crowded at all! Usually around 11am more and more people start rolling in. I call them the sleeper in-ers. And by lunchtime the crowd is pretty good. That's why we either do RD or wait until around 3pm to get to the park for the evening. That's about when a lot of the rope drop-ers are heading out of the park!

But yes, if you are not doing any ADR's and aren't planning on the more popular attractions then you can be very flexible!

We can never get it to budge either. :confused3

You are lucky to be able to do spinny!! I wish I could.

No line at IASW was very lucky. Usually it's only like that at opening!

It sure will be interesting to see how all the openings in FL play out...

What's up with Sword in the Stone anyway??? I found a whole thread on that saying some kids have pulled it up and their brother/sister couldn't do it but then they were able to do it again. I guess I need to read through the thread to find out. Have you heard about this phenomenon?

IDK what is up with that sword. :confused3 I need to find something to read up on it too. My kids have dreamt up the theory that it is on a timer and we are never there at the right time. :rotfl:

I am ready to be done with IASW, but the kids say it's tradition, so I guess we have to keep doing it!!

We got about 3-4 inches I think. They were saying we were getting this big snowstorm, but we hardly got anything!

3-4 inches of snow is nothing to PA...:rotfl2:

Put that here and we'd be inside for a week.

As far as the sword--- I've heard that there is a CM around somewhere that has a button they push to release it.
IDK if that's really true or not. We've never been able to get it to work. Drew even did a dance to the Sword gods ---- I have pics of it---- and they didn't smile fondly upon him. So IDK what it takes to get it to work.

Sheila----- Thanks! Actually it's December 11th that we arrive. That date is pretty set. A cousin is getting married in the Wedding Pavillion and having their reception at the GF on the 15th. So---- it's a matter of discounts to see if we can swing the GF or not. So I guess it's the resort part that might change.

Sheree--- I know, right??? The luxury of time.:lmao:

Shelly--- oh you know it's all gonna be changed around a bazillion ways by then. You just get to hear about them all.

After we were done on IASW DS12 and I split up from DH & DS10 again. They headed for the Haunted Mansion. And we went to ride BTMRR!

We rode twice – with no wait!! We even got to pick our seats. Once we rode in the back seat and once in the front seat. DS insists that the back is faster than the front!

After that we all met back up and headed into Adventureland to check out the wait time on POTC. Which was also – you guessed it, NO WAIT!!

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2014/9a58bd6b.jpg

After that we somehow ended up back in front of the castle.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2014/5bf8f594.jpg

Then we decided we were getting hungry for some lunch. I had decided that we would give Pinnochio Village Haus a try this time, since Casey's Corner had closed a few days prior for refurbishment. So we headed back to Fantasyland, only for them to tell us that they were without power when we got there. What a bummer. Nowhere else in the park was without power, just there. . .

We wandered around not quite knowing what to do next. I guess we happened to walk past the sword and the boys decided to give it one more try!!

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2014/6ec337ca.jpg

And nope – nothing!!

On that side of the park there really weren't a ton of choices for lunch. We weren't necessarily starving quite yet, but we wanted something. We ended up stopping at Friar's Nook and getting some homemade chips and a frozen lemonade to hold us over while we decided.

After that we just wandered around a bit more and looked at all the construction going on and then ended up in Tomorrowland. Right in front of Cosmic Rays. We had ate there once before and weren't real big fans, but we thought we'd go in anyway and get a couple meals to all share.

We ended up with a hot dog meal – which the kids shared. And a grilled chicken sandwich meal that DH & I shared. DS10 really liked the hot dog, which says a lot. He usually hates most foods! Our sandwich was good as well.

Shelly you might have had the best last day ever on this trip!!:goodvibes I love the approach you took--- just sorta any which way the wind blew. It worked out really really well.:thumbsup2

I thought DS10 rode BTMRR? And I agree with DS12--- the back is faster. But only in the afternoon once the sun has heated up the tracks and greased them good. My kids don't like to ride it in the mornings b/c they say it's slow.

Shelly your DS insisting that the back is faster than the front, made me think of DH's Grand Parents flying to Ca. His DM wanted to fly 1st class because of it being a long flight and dear ole GramPa told her the front of the plane got there same time as the back and they were not flying 1st class.

BRMR is closed when we are there DH was disappointed but he would have to ride it by himself anyhow I did it once never again.I can not do coaster type rides at all ...hard to believe you rode it twice and no lines

If you can tolerate the heat Aug/Sept is the time to go I think. I have gone first week of Aug and the 3rd week and it was hot, rainy and busy both times. I am so hopeing it is not too bad crowd wise when we go. I figure anything has to be better than our last trip when it was a 10 every day I think.

Love the pic of you and DH in front of the castle

I agree with your son, the back of BTMRR is faster in the back - and it gives you an extra 'whip' in the turns. Fun!!!

My sons really like Cosmic rays - it is just ok by me - my oldest, makes us stay until we have seen Sonny play his entire set all the way through.

Well that is weird that just one place was without power. I don't think you missed much though. We ate there on our last trip and it was just ok. We had their pizza and salad and it was typical Disney pizza, like Pizza Planet. It is neat to sit in there and watch the people go by on Small World though.

Glad you liked Cosmic Ray's. It looked pretty good to me.

I loved the video on BTMRR. That is one of my favorite rides! It seemed so weird to hear your voices. I don't think I have heard them before. Now I want to see more videos from you! I love video clips in TRs b/c it gives you a real feeling of being there that pictures sometimes don't.

Can't wait to hear about the rest of the day, but don't want the TR to end. :guilty:

Your DS is right, the back is faster. When the front of the car is starting to go down a hill, the back is still getting pulled up at a slow pace. So the front can't really go that fast. But by the time the back makes it over the top of the hill and starts going down, the front is pulling all of the train faster and faster down the hill thanks to gravity. The longer the train, the more you'll notice it (so not as much on Space Mountain for example). :)

Yum, homemade chips!! I didn't have any in Disney, but they were a huge hit in Cuba during our wedding week! popcorn::

What a great update Shelly!

I agree with your son, the back of BTMRR is faster in the back - and it gives you an extra 'whip' in the turns. Fun!!!

My sons really like Cosmic rays - it is just ok by me - my oldest, makes us stay until we have seen Sonny play his entire set all the way through.

Great video too!!! Thanks for sharing!

Sea :cool1:

Thanks Sea! :goodvibes

My oldest just loves watching Sonny too!! :confused3:laughing: Strange kids!

Well that is weird that just one place was without power. I don't think you missed much though. We ate there on our last trip and it was just ok. We had their pizza and salad and it was typical Disney pizza, like Pizza Planet. It is neat to sit in there and watch the people go by on Small World though.

I thought it was weird too. And that's what I was looking forward to -- getting a table overlooking IASW!

I didn't take too many video clips this time. :confused3 I think I have one of the boys on the Tea Cups that I forgot to post from that morning. Most of the video clips are little dancing clips for our big vacation video that I am putting together! :cool1:

According to DH the back of coasters are faster for the reasons everyone posted. We ate at PVH in August and we had the chicken parm. w/ spaghetti it was a nice change- we enjoyed it.
August is a great time to go (minus the rain) but still awesome for no waits!
BTMRR is gonna be closed until the end of May!!:scared1: We  that ride and are so sad :( about that.
When there were no lines anywhere for us, ds must have rode HM like 6x in 1 day and same for BTMRR and SM. It really was awesome!

What a great morning at MK! I like the back of BTMRR - I don't like how you are already halfway down the hills before it feels fast in the front.

We've never eaten at PVH either... we like Cosmic Ray's OK but it's always loud in there & not the best place to take a lunch "break". There are some quieter outdoor spots that have a great view of the castle though. I also hate that you have to wait in more than one line if you want different things to eat.

But not before some more pics!

DS12 had to express his displeasure about Casey's being closed. :lmao: There was a CM standing there telling people where they could go to get good hot dogs since Casey's was closed. He was laughing his behind off at DS!! :rotfl: And then offered his advice on where to eat, but I had to explain to him that we had already ate at Casey's earlier in the week and we just had lunch today at Cosmic Ray's (which BTW is where he says has the same hot dogs as Casey's) and that DS was just trying to be funny!!:upsidedow

It would seem I've missed a couple of updates???!! The DIS is not treating me kindly so I've, um, been.... stepping out on it, shall we say???:lmao:

The pictures by the statues are so adorable. I loved the one of your DH--- he's so goofy.

And DS10- his personality is so 180 degrees from DS12-- I love to see him laughing and playing along too.

And of course the Ham of the group-- DS12---- The CM at Casey's was looking at him like he thought he was great. Maybe he has a future in entertainment there?????? (We can go see him after lunches on Wednesdays!!);)

Now--- the latest update--- what a relaxing afternoon. I wish I could jump right into that picture with the Volcano Slide! Niiiiiiiiiiiiice!:thumbsup2

And let me tell you--- I'm pretty sure that was the HOTTEST DAY of our entire trip. We were in Gainesville trying to Tailgate before the game and M kept making me get in the car with the girls with the AC running b/c it was so dang hot.

:faint:

Cool Towel Animals too!!!!!! The CM's in the Hawaii building were really having a fun time this trip!

Thanks for the awesome updates! Feeding my WDW need..... ::yes::

I know, I thought it was just me but between the DIS and Photobucket both being so slow lately it is making it hard for me to finish up writing my updates. :headache::headache:

Oh yes, DS12 definitely could be a performer in WDW someday!! Wouldn't that be so awesome to have him so close to our retirement homes?! ;)

I wish I could jump into that picture too!! :cloud9: Have I mentioned lately that I hate winter???

I don't remember it being that hot that day, but I'm sure it was. We just got in and out of MK before it got too hot and then spent the hottest part of the day by the pool. :lovestruc

ok finally all caught up..... GREAT pics Shelly. The boys are so big. Looks like you guys had a really great time and i LOVE poly..... I'm telling u one day i'll stay there but after i finish school.... Can't wait to see more pics.... :)

Shelly - oh god i have til May 2013 to graduate. LONG process but so worth it. I'm in the hospital setting now and i LOVE IT.... just 3 semesters left... YAY..... Since u have been there since the closures does it take away from the "Magic"? My DH told me that he would send me and DD in May or June so i'm looking but a lil worried about all the closures....

Oh I thought you were a little closer than that! Oh well, only 3 semesters to go. You're getting there!! :cool1:

The mess at MK does kind of take away from the magic, but it certainly doesn't ruin the trip or anything like that. But with that said, my kids are older than your DD and we wouldn't normally spend a ton of time in Fantasyland & Toontown anyway. So you might notice it more than us.

I hope you and your DD get to go in May or June!! :wizard:

Hello! :goodvibes I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. I just thought I'd sneak in a Sunday post since I'm not doing much at the moment. And it's not really too much of an update -- just pics of our self made photo-shoot! :)

After we were done with our afternoon swim we went back up to the room and got showered and changed. Before we left for vacation I looked into getting a photo-shoot done at the Poly. :scared1: I really wanted some new family pics because we hadn't had any taken since like 2006 or something. But the photo-shoot was some crazy ridiculous price for a 20 minute shoot. So, I decided that we were just going to do our own!!

Of course none of the rest of the family were too thrilled with the whole idea to begin with! But I very nicely explained to them that I had worked very hard planning this vacation to make sure that each of them got to do and see everything they wanted, and we stayed at 2 fabulous resorts, and I made plenty of time for shopping, swimming, and relaxing. So they were going to do this for me, with no whining!!!

So outside we headed! And for the most part things went very smoothly. Other than trying to get a picture of the boys together on a hammock, they weren't very cooperative with that one. I heard a lot of -- he's touching me, he's squishing me, blah blah blah for that one... But most of the pictures turned out very well I think. There are some that aren't super great because of lighting and things like that. So they aren't professional by any means, but we still got some great shots!

Those are wonderful Shelly! You did a great job! :thumbsup2 So I am very curious as to how you got pics of all four of you??? Did you set your timer? You really did great and they looked like they cooperated pretty good. I know what you mean though about the whining. Towards the end of my trip, my DD got like that too. Good for you for telling them to deal with it! :rotfl: And you guys look so cute in your matching blues!

We did the photo shoot at the Grand Floridian on our first trip in '08. Can you believe it was only $25 back then! :scared1: I've heard it has gone sky high. I'm glad we got it done before the price change, but I'd like to get some newer ones now. I might just do it myself like you did on our next trip.

After our big photoshoot we had worked up quite an appetite! So we headed into the lounge to see what they had this evening. The kids were thrilled to see that they had mini corndogs, but they ended up saying there were horrible. :confused3 They apparently didn't come from Casey's...:rotfl:

When we were done in there we went back to the room. The kids were watching TV and playing video games and I stepped out onto the balcony. Looking to my left I could see the sidewalk that goes from the back side of the Hawaii building (the far side by Tokelua) out to the beach. There was a young woman there that appeared to be getting married. There was an older woman with her (appeared to be her mother) and they were standing there arm in arm like they were getting ready to walk down the isle! So I waited a bit and sure enough they started to walk towards the beach. So I grabbed my camera and went outside and took a few shots!

There were several people kind of standing back and quietly watching. It was pretty neat! :goodvibes

DH came out to join me and we watched a little bit and then went on a short walk down the beach. It was very nice and peaceful, but we were dreading the fact that we had to go home the next day.

Eventually we made our way back inside and asked the kids what they wanted to do that night. DS12 said he just wanted to hang out at the Poly. And DS10 asked if there were any 'nighttime shows or parades' going on. I told him that we could only go to MK since we didn't have park hoppers and that the MSEP was showing that night. And he was all for it!! :yay: I was secretly wanting to see this but didn't figure anyone else would want to go. DH didn't care if he saw it or not, so he offered to stay back with DS12.

So pretty soon DS10 and I went out and got on the monorail and were off to MK!:woohoo:

It was really nice to have that one on one time with DS10. It's usually me & DS12, so it was nice for him to have a chance. And it gave DS12 & DH an evening together. Although I'm not really sure what they did all night....:confused3 Probably ate a bunch of cookies from the lounge and watched TV!

I'm so glad that your DS10 wanted to go see the parade with you. I am a go, go, go kind of person, but I think my family is more like your DH and would rather just relax and enjoy the resort. I think we need to find more of a happy medium on our trips, b/c we usually do a lot more going than relaxing. :rolleyes1 Maybe we should just stay at the Poly and that would encourage me to slow down. ;) I can definitely see why you guys would want to spend a lot of time just hanging out there.

Don't you hate that last full day of vacation feeling when you start thinking about having to pack and go home? :sad1:

I think we need to find more of a happy medium on our trips, b/c we usually do a lot more going than relaxing. :rolleyes1 Maybe we should just stay at the Poly and that would encourage me to slow down. ;) I can definitely see why you guys would want to spend a lot of time just hanging out there.

Don't you hate that last full day of vacation feeling when you start thinking about having to pack and go home? :sad1:

I know, what a dream wedding. :cloud9:

I was glad he wanted to go to the parade too!

The Poly sure makes you slow down your vacation. ::yes:: I recommend giving it a try. :thumbsup2:goodvibes

I am already dreading the last day of our next vacation. It makes my stomach hurt. :sad2:

Golly Shel,...your Trip will be here before you know it!! Do your boys do baseball? I know they like soccer, but jsut curious if they are doing a spring sport to pass the time for Disney?! LOL

Is Jo gonna do a TR now that you are nearing the end of your half?

Getting married not only in Disney, but at the Poly. What a dream that would be. :cloud9: Ron and I have made it clear that should we win the jackpot at the lottery, we are renewing our vows in Disney.

It's nice that you got to go back to the MK and get a little more park time.

Great pics Shelly!
I think you did a fine job with your timer!! My favorites are you and DH on the hammock and on the bench, the boys facing the waterfall and the boys in the hammock by themselves.

I try to get to MK the last night before we leave - I like having the vision of Wishes in my mind before heading home!

I was at a party this weekend at a friend's house. I helped her plan and book her upcoming WDW trip for the week before Easter (). But another family there is planning to go then too and hadn't booked anything yet!! I strongly encouraged them to book soon - especially since they were considering the Poly! Plus they have kids who love Lilo and Stitch, so I told them to go to Ohana for breakfast with them. And to book it right away! I nearly passed out when they said they hadn't booked anything yet! That's two months away!

So I told you I had been keeping up, just not posting much. Well, I guess I hadn't been doing such a good job of keeping up. :guilty: Today I've been seeing where everyone is saying how great your photo shoot pics are, and I'm like "What pics?" :confused3 So I go back a page or two to see what I missed. And I missed a lot!

So I agree with everyone that you did a great job! I assume you had the timer set for the family pic on the balcony, but did you also do that with the family pic outside on the sidewalk? Or did you ask someone to take it for you? OK, never mind all that. I just saw the answers to those questions.

My favoritest favorite ;) is the close-up one of you and your DH on the bench. That should already be framed in your house - if not, get with it, girl! My second favorites are the pics of each DS in the hammocks. So cute! They really did cooperate! And I'm not buying that they didn't want to do the photo session 'cause they look like they're really enjoying it.

I know!! :upsidedow Nope, no baseball here. They both did one season and thought it was the most boring thing ever! But DS10 will have spring soccer. Actually he will have to miss 2 games for Disney. :scared1:

IDK about Jo and her TR, you'll have to take that up with her!! :rotfl:

Good morning! Well I see after 2 days of acting normal the DIS is back at it and super slow again this morning. :sad2: It has taken me about 15 minutes just to get to here....But I'll give it a try posting an update. My car is in the shop so I am stuck here with no wheels, so I don't have anything else to do I guess! :upsidedow

If the DIS doesn't speed up a bit I might be forced to go clean something. :scared1:

So who's up for a little MSEP? :cool1:

Once DS10 and I got inside MK we walked over to Main Street and decided we had better just grab our snacks now before finding a seat. So we walked back towards the entrance to the popcorn cart and got some popcorn and then headed back to find some seats.

We spotted some great seats right at the very beginning of Main Street. It wasn't too crowded there just yet. But of course as the evening went on it got more and more crowded. We had about an hour to wait so we just messed around and took in all the sites!

Just before the parade was starting a CM came by and made us all move back. We were still in the front row, but just had to push back some. The lady beside me started complaining up a storm to the CM about how ridiculous this was and that if they wanted us back they should have told us sooner. I suppose she was right, it did make for a very crowded/tight fit now since we had to push into everyone behind us, but I couldn't believe how she was going on and on. And then more and more people kept crowding in there. One lady crossed Main Street and jumped in behind us (and in front of other people that were behind us) and left her DH & baby (and stroller) across the street in a crowd of people. She then proceeded to yell at her DH across the street to get over here with her. And he was very hesitant to come over. He could see what she had done. And he was saying back to her that there wasn't room for him and the stroller and all. She wasn't having any part of what he was saying and she just kept yelling and insisting that he needed to get over here right now before the parade started. This went on for a little while and then he finally gave in and crossed the street and looked and me and said – I'm very sorry, can I squeeze in behind you?

Good grief!! :faint: It wasn't that much of a bother to us, we still had our front row seats, but it did of course make it even more cramped. I just don't understand people. You just can't walk up 5 minutes before such a popular event like that and expect to be able to have a great spot.

But whatever!! The parade was starting and DS and I were happy! The people behind us could fight it out all they wanted.

That was our first time seeing MSEP and we really enjoyed it!! I think I might even like the floats better than Spectromagic. But I do like Spectro's music more. So either one is fine with me! :goodvibes

How about you – Spectro or MSEP???

As soon as it was over DS and I stood up quickly to try to make a quick escape, and wouldn't you know it – I dropped my camera right onto the pavement. I picked it up and noticed that the on/off button was messed up. I messed with it the whole way out of the park and up the monorail platform. I did get it to work, but it has never really been quite right since. The button sat down in some anyway, it was never flush with the top of the camera, I suppose so it wouldn't get bumped on when in a purse or bag. But now it is down even further. It works fine, you just have to have a tiny finger or a long fingernail to get down in there to turn it on.

On a side note – DH got me a new camera for Christmas and the kids have inherited the old one!

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2015/dbdbd446.jpg

We caught the first monorail and were back to the Poly in no time. BUT – when we got there the doors didn't open on the monorail. We must have sat there for about 7-8 minutes I would guess. And DS had to use the restroom. :scared1: They were saying they couldn't open the doors because of something about clearance of another monorail. :confused3 Didn't really understand and we just wanted off that thing!!

Finally we got off and made a mad dash for the restroom! After that was all taken care of we called DH & DS12 too see if they wanted to come down and meet us for Dole Whips. But they had already had plenty of snacks on the lounge that evening while we were gone and DS was already in his pj's and watching a movie. So DS10 and I finished out our night together with some Dole Whips and sat out behind Captain Cook's. The weather was fabulous and we had a great night! It was nice to be able to have that time with just him since I had the AK morning with just DS12.

Looking at the first few pics you have posted I can almost hear the music in my head and now I am thinking I should have made our MK day for when MSEP is showing , I picked a day when it is not for the lower crowds expected. I still could change but what a pain trying to get my same ADRs I want and re-book the Dessert Party plus I understand you can not see MSEP from the Dessert Party seating.

NOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooo! :rotfl2:

I'm having the same issue with the DIS! :headache:

Your parade story is the one thing that I hate about Disney parades. There always seems to be someone who wants to butt in at the last minute and disregard everyone around them who has been waiting for an hour. I don't think that problem will ever be solved though.

MSEP looks like fun! I can't answer you on which I like better b/c we haven't seen MSEP yet. I have watched it on youtube though and I totally agree with you. I like the floats on MSEP better, but I thought the music was really bad. I hope it is better in person. :confused3

OH MY! I would have exploded if I had been trapped on that monorail!!! :scared1: I cannot handle stuff like that. I can ride the monorail fine, even though the cabs are small, as long as I know I can get off. But if they told me the doors wouldn't open, I would have solved that problem for them because I would've busted right through them! And why do you always have to go to the bathroom during something like that? Poor little guy!

Glad you got some one-on-one time with DS10. :thumbsup2 I know it must be hard to find opportunites to spend individual time with just one child. And getting that time at Disney is extra special. :wizard:

Agreed. Some people have no concern for others. How can people be so mean and rude while at the "Happiest Place on Earth"? :confused3

A few years ago as we were leaving MK, some lady and her kid were in such a hurry to exit the park that they ran over my 9 year old (at the time) son. They didn't even break stride or turn around and apologize. I yelled out "Excuse you!!!" but nothing.:mad::mad:

I know, I think that's the reason I can rarely get my family to watch a parade at WDW. Rude people!! :sad2: Never fails and usually it's some adult jumping in front of the kids.

I wasn't too happy about being trapped in the monorail. It was very crowded and DS & I were standing anyway. And I thought he was going to pee his pants if we didn't get out of there soon!!! :scared1: If it had gone on much longer I was going to call DH and have him come and break us out!! :upsidedow:laughing:

Loved the MSEP pictures! That stinks about your camera.:headache: But, I'm glad that you got a new one for Christmas!:yay:
You are officially going to think I am crazy. We are now staying at the BC! My DH really hurt his back last week, and will have to have surgery on it for the fourth time. He obviously can't go on the trip, but he wanted me and the girls to still go, especially since it's DD's 21st birthday trip. We invited along my niece last night, and it will be her birthday on the trip as well! She has never been to WDW, and wanted to stay at the BC, since she heard a lot about it.:headache: So I called WDW today to price out the cost, and it is actually less expensive to stay in a water view room there! So, it's off to the BC we go!:goodvibes

I cannot believe you had not seen the MSEP before!

One of my favorite things of my childhood at Disneyland was to see this parade right before the fireworks, Fantasy in the Sky. It was so magical to see and experience.

You got some great pictures there too. Bravo!

I am hoping it will stay through the summer so that we can see it in June.

Even more extra special is spending that time with your son - priceless!

Thanks for sharing! - Sea :cool1:

Nope, seen Spectro before a few times but never MSEP. I hope it's still there for you this summer. :wizard:

I was happy with how the pictures turned out!

It was a great night. :goodvibes

What a great night!!!:goodvibes

I haven't seen MSEP since I was a very little girl. It was always my favorite parade growing up--- but I'm like you, I prefer the music to Spectro. Either one--- I like them both!:lovestruc

I can't believe the nerve of some people either. Rude, rude, rude. We had that happen to us our first trip with the kids and their first time seeing Spectro. Some foreigners plopped down right in front of the kids just as it started. A lady actually almost sat in Drew's lap. Poor kid was about 7. And I asked them to move. And they acted like they couldn't understand me when I knew that they could.

Made it a teachable lesson for the kids- to not take something that isn't yours, just because you "want to". They still talk about how rude those people were!

Anyway- what a great time you had otherwise. :goodvibes
You got some really good pictures---- too bad about the camera. But I know the boys were happy to inherit the old camera when you got your new one.

----
Oh my gosh the monorail. I do not know what the heck is wrong with that thing sometimes! :faint: And your poor son, having to use the restroom so badly. Glad your DH didn't have to pull the Mighty Mouse cape on.

The Dole Whips!!!!!!!!!!!:lovestruc
One of the bestest reasons eva' to stay at the Poly--- Dole Whip when you get home from the parks late at night!:cool1:

Oooh, Kona Breakfast. How intriguing.

It was a very fun night!! :cool1: I remember texting you at the game!

We had something similar happen years ago when watching the Dreams Come True parade (or whatever it is called) at MK. We had waited on the parade and had front row spots, but then as the parade started and everyone stood up a lady proceeded to stand right in front of the kids. :furious: That is about a little more than I can handle!

Yeah, the boys could care less about the broken button on the camera, they are more concerned that it is pink!! :confused3:laughing:

That dang monorail door!! :headache:

Having Dole Whips at your leisure is fantastic! Too bad I'm the only one who really enjoys them. The rest of the family get vanilla. :sad2:

Hmm....I wonder how our Kona breakfast went?!

Great update and parade shots!
How nice that you and DS10 were able to spend some one on one time together doing something so fun (not the getting stuck on the monorail part!).
It's just so cute, the two of you sitting there with your Dole Whips!

I think next trip I'm going to try watching a parade from somewhere other than Main Street. I've heard there are good spots at the other end of the route, might try that!

Kona breakfast - sounds good to me!

I've only seen Disney's Eletrical Pardae (MSEP) in DCA, butI have seen SpetroMagic multiple times in the MK. The funny thing is if either parade was only running once well I was at WDW I would probably go out of my way to see Spetro as I think the grandeur and the score and the overall size of the parade fit the MK better. I also think that the MSEP is a better fit for Disneyland.

I can't believe you've never seen MSEP. I like both MSEP and Spectro. don't really have a favorite I guess I think they're similiar.
We had a bad experience at the parade a couple of years ago too. Some people are just so RUDE!
I like sitting at the end of MS for a quick exit- good idea!!

Hi! I've been a "lurker" throughout your trip report, and I just have to tell you that I've just enjoyed it all so much! popcorn:: You have a beautiful family and it looks like you all had a wonderful vacation too! I hope you consider doing a future trip report -- you're pictures are the best and they give me my Disney World "fix" :thumbsup2 as our next family trip won't be until Fall 2013!

Your family portrait pictures turned out great! I am sure that a Disney photographer couldn't have done any better and you probably wouldn't have gotten such a variety of shots either.

I think it's great that you and your youngest were able to spend some time together at the Magic Kingdom. Those are the memories you'll never forget.

I have never seen Spectro Magic only MSEP  People like that woman at the parade make me so mad, I guess since I believe like you to go early and wait not show up at the last minute and expect a good spot.

I am glad your camera still worked after dropping it but it all worked out good since DH gave you a new one for Christmas.

Those dole whips looked so good I have to taste one this trip!

I have heard that too -- that there are some great parade spots over in Frontierland. But we weren't staying for Wishes and wanted to make a quick escape!

That would be neat to see each at both WDW and DL. We hope to get out to DL within the next couple of years and experience it all out there!! :wizard:

I never went to WDW as a child, so I didn't even know about MSEP until they brought it back last year.

I think unfortunately just about everyone has had a bad experience at WDW with other guests. :headache:

Thanks Lisa! :goodvibes Yeah, getting all those shots took us about an hour. I don't think a Disney photographer would have got near that many in just 20 minutes.

Well, all good things must come to an end, right? :sad2:

Day 10 – Sunday September 4th

Well the day was finally upon us. The day we had been dreading since we planned this trip – the day we had to go back home. Even though this was our longest trip yet, we still weren't ready to go home.

But we knew we had a fun morning ahead of us, so we got up and got ready! We had a Kona Cafe breakfast ADR at 10:15am. Jodi and family also had one around 10:30 I think, so we were looking forward to seeing them one last time. Actually we were hoping that they were going to be able to make their ADR – the football game they had gone to the day before was ending very late and then they had to drive back to the GF super late and we were worried they would sleep in and forget Kona and us!! :scared1:

The kids were a little reluctant to get up!

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2015/abb37394.jpg

DH was up and out on the balcony.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2015/5e344975.jpg

I went out and took one last look at our wonderful view.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2015/f72720a8.jpg

And the kids went out to take a look at these guys. I think they were having a party down there!!

We called Bell Services and they came and took our bags and stored them until it was time for our ME bus. And we headed off to Kona around 10:00.

With one last walk past the fantastic volcano pool. Very quiet there that morning.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2015/a7b718e4.jpg

We were seated in no time and we all already knew what we wanted to order of course!! It was Tonga Toast for me! :cool1: DH got the Big Kahuna - “French toast, Pancakes topped with Pineapple sauce and Macadamia Nut Butter, eggs, home fried potatoes, ham, bacon, and sausage.” The kids both ordered off the children's menu. DS12 got Donald's Choice – which was basically scrambled eggs, toast, and fruit. DS10 got Minnie's French Toast – which was french toast and bacon. And he gave the bacon to DH of course! DS10 really likes Tonga Toast, but he would never be able to eat an entire serving, so I shared and he ate about a third of mine!

After we ordered Jodi and family came in and we chatted with them for a few minutes and they were seated, but not very close to us. We were just glad to see that they made it!!

And pretty soon our breakfast came!

Continued.....

After we were done we rolled ourselves over to tell Jodi & family that we were going to be downstairs in the GCH so they could come down and see us before we had to go out to the ME bus stop.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2015/da833e18.jpg

We wandered around the GCH for a bit and then went down to where we were going to meet up with them. And pretty soon they arrived! It was bittersweet. Here we were with our wonderful friends in this wonderful magical place and we had to say good-bye. :sad1:

The kids enjoyed every last second together.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2015/f2625afb.jpg

They made a wish and threw some coins into the waterfall. I'm pretty sure they all wished to see each other at WDW again!! :wizard:

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2015/18245fba.jpg

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2015/f90b34b2.jpg

The DH's had a nice long chat about something or other. :lmao: But I know in there somewhere I heard them say that we would probably be meeting up like this again sometime soon. And Jodi heard it too!! So now we are holding them to it! ::yes::

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2015/84cf7182.jpg

We got a nice CM to take a group shot! I think DS10 thought if he blended in with Jodi's family that maybe he would get to stay and not have to go home with us!! :rotfl:

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2015/efb03191.jpg

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2015/df37856e.jpg

And then we all said our good-byes and we wished them a magical trip and we were off to get our luggage and head out to the bus stop.

About 10-15 minutes later our ME bus came.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2015/2f7f81b1.jpg

Don't we look thrilled?

I didn't take any airport pics this time. So I have nothing more until we got home.

My parent were waiting for us with our puppy. We just got him in July and we had just barely got him house trained by the time we left for vacation at the end of August. They said he did super and didn't have any accidents!!

He was 4 months old here and I remember he looked so big to us because we hadn't seen him in 10 days and he was growing so fast back then. Now looking at these pictures he looks so small since he is about full grown!

We gave him all his new toys. Which were not actually dog toys, since WDW quit selling them.

I love the picture of your sad faces! I have one of those too from 2008 of my parents sitting, waiting for the ME and looking oh so sad :sad1: Now it's a tradition to take that "post Disney melancholy" picture.

I've enjoyed your TR and am sad to see it come to a close. Your puppy is adorable! Is there a reason Disney has stopped making dog toys? I hadn't noticed that they stopped as I don't have a dog.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

It's not over! It can't be over!!

I feel like I did that morning when we left you guys. All sort of sad and unhappy and........... :sad1:

What a bittersweet moment indeed. :sad2:

Kona was fantastic that morning. Seeing y'all again was so much fun! We were very happy that we made it, too -- we were soooo tired.
I had my first bite of tonga toast -- (it was too sweet, like I thought it would be for me. :( ) But the macadamia nut pancakes were yummy as always. And the Press Pot of coffee.:lovestruc Helped a sister out immensely.

And then we had to make that long walk downstairs to tell you good bye.
I remember us standing there looking at each other not knowing what to say.:guilty:

You are so right--- we both heard the DH's say what they said and laughing about it. There's no getting away from it now!:rotfl2:

And you know that DS10 just felt like he belonged with us. He's preparing for the future.;)

Jack looked so small in the pictures-- I can't believe he was ever that tiny! He looked like he was really happy you were home.

This has been such a wonderful TR. It was so much fun planning together-- and I know that one day in the (hopefully, NEAR) future, we'll plan another one. And it will be bigger and badder than this one was, my friend!

As always, what a great TR! Beautiful pics of Poly! I really would like to stay there now!
Sad goodbye for you and Jodi's family! :(

I have to ask about something in your souvenir picture. It appears to be a set of 3 cookie cutters - a mickey head, hand and something.

Can you tell me how big the Mickey head is? I have one and it is so big! I'd like a smaller one.

Am I a total nerd for being really sad right now? I feel so sad for y'all having to leave! Don't you just hate it when you're in the lobby checking out of a hotel and you see all these excited people rolling their suitcases up to the desk to check in? Makes you want to stick your foot out and trip them, doesn't it? KIDDING!!! Just making that clear......I may be crazy, but I'm not evil.

At least you got to spend your last morning with Jodi and Co. :thumbsup2 That was a nice way to end your wonderful trip. How cute are y'all's kids? And how great that they are now long-distance friends who meet up in WDW! What was the name of that movie with Alan Alda where he met up once a year with his secret love? They were both married but carried on a decades-long affair. OK, I'm way OT and you are too young to even know that movie! But that's what came to my mind when I thought about y'all meeting up in Disney each year....hopefully, that is!

When my kids were little, we went on a ski trip one year to Colorado. The morning we had to leave for the airport, my DS was looking really sad (like your DS). I thought he was about to cry, and I asked him what was the matter. He said, "We have to wait a whole year before we go skiing again." Poor baby, he was 7 years old at the time and we've never been back (he's 24 now :sad2:). So at least your boys really do only have to wait a whole year before you go back!

Shelly, you've done a wonderful job on your TR! You make us feel like we are right there with you and seeing it all. I especially loved how you had so many pictures. You have such a beautiful family and 2 obviously happy boys. I hope to see a PTR soon!

I also love the one of your sad faces waiting for ME>

It was a nice way to spend your last morning, making memories if you have to go home that is the best way.

Jack looked very cute with his lei on :)

I did not hear you mention taking your bags to RAC and saw them sitting next to you guys........you only do carry on or doesn't AT participate in the RAC system?

BTW I am hungry for breakfast now and it is 2:30 in the afternoon :rotfl:

Jack looked so small in the pictures-- I can't believe he was ever that tiny! He looked like he was really happy you were home.

This has been such a wonderful TR. It was so much fun planning together-- and I know that one day in the (hopefully, NEAR) future, we'll plan another one. And it will be bigger and badder than this one was, my friend!

Don't worry, I have a few more post coming. But yes, then it is over. :sad2: I'm kind of sad, but a bit relieved. I feel like I have been writing this TR forever. :faint: Very unlike me, I'm usually done in less than 3 months.

How did MC like the Tonga Toast??? I just love it. :lovestruc I can't believe you think it is too sweet! :scared1:

Is it my imagination or in their conversation did one of the DH's say - maybe next time it will be in DL? :yay: Maybe I dreamed that up, but somehow it is in my head that they said that. I even think it was your DH!

I know, Jack was a tiny baby back then. He is a big monster now, as you know.

Yes, here's to a bigger and badder vacation together next time -- :wizard::wizard::wizard:

As always, what a great TR! Beautiful pics of Poly! I really would like to stay there now!
Sad goodbye for you and Jodi's family! :(

I have to ask about something in your souvenir picture. It appears to be a set of 3 cookie cutters - a mickey head, hand and something.

Can you tell me how big the Mickey head is? I have one and it is so big! I'd like a smaller one.

Thanks Sheree! :goodvibes You should give the Poly a try sometime. :thumbsup2

The mickey head is pretty small. Much smaller than the one you have, if you have the larger one that I have too. The small one is about 2 1/2 inches from the top (of the ears) to the bottom and about 2 3/4 from ear to ear. It makes nice sized cookies and the ears don't fall off like the larger one!

If you're a nerd then so am I!

And yes, I just hate those people who are checking in the day we are leaving. :mad:Same thing when we get to the airport and they come off that plane all smiling and happy that they just arrived in Orlando. :headache:

:rotfl:

Yes, our kids are the cutest! :thumbsup2:lmao: But no, IDK what movie you are talking about. :confused3

Sounds like you better take your DS skiing! :thumbsup2

I'm glad you have enjoyed the TR. Give me a month or so on the PTR, okay? :flower3:

Shelly the group shot of Yours and Jodi's family is beautiful. Such a nice memory :goodvibes

Thanks Sheila! :) It really was the best way to spend our last morning.

We never take our checked bags to RAC. IDK why. We usually only have 2-3 of them, so we just bring them with us. I think At does participate in it though.

I know, I could go for some Tonga Toast right about now. :thumbsup2

 So sad your TR is over. I felt we were right there with you the whole time.

I'm sad too. I hope you enjoyed! :goodvibes

I forgot to say that I got some Tonga Toast at Capt. Cooks one morning and it was gross. I had such high expectations and was so sad. I want to try it at Kona next time maybe it will taste better. I don't think it was very fresh- not very warm.

"Same time, Next Year" That's the movie I was talking about (thanks, Google!). It was from 1978. So how old were you then? Like 1 or 2? Or maybe just a thought? ;) But anyway, ir was about a couple who meet up once a year at the same place.

Maybe my DS should take us skiing!!

OK, I'll cut you some slack on the PTR. But that means I'll have to go looking for some other TR's to read in the meantime..........and you know what kinds of stuff I can find on the Dis when I've got time on my hands! ;) :lmao:

We would like to stay at Poly, but we wouldn't be able to have enough DVC points to use there until and unless they add DVC. So we'd have to do a short add on for a split stay or something.
In the meantime, I'm going to eat there and loiter!

Can't wait to see your video! You always do such a good job with those. I am going to try my hand at one for our trip too. I've been playing around with Windows Movie Maker for quite a while now, trying to learn how to use it. Is that what you use to make yours? It's not as easy as I would like it to be.

Hey Shelly, Haven't had a chance to read the latest update yet (darn boss....thinks I have to work in order to earn a paycheck :confused3) but wanted to ask if you had been reading about the new free dining codes. Some folks have had luck calling and applying codes to their May vacations and they received free quick service dining. There are two different codes they are trying: K7V for May and Y63 for April, May and June. I'm going to call this afternoon and try my luck. Of course, it probably won't work for me but it won't hurt to call.

We got 35% off the BC, so that's a better savings than the DDP. We prefer to go without the DDP anyway. But if we were staying at a moderate then free dining would be more cost efficient for us. Let me know what you find out when you call. I called earlier this week to see if I had any codes and I didn't.

Did you get the general public room only discount for May?

I couldn't remember what the % off deluxe resorts was. Since Hunter is considered an adult, the free dining would save us more than the Spring offer I am currently booked with. I am going to try calling and see if they will let me apply the free dining code(s). I'd love to save the extra almost $300.00.

Both my kids are considered adults now, but neither of them eat like adults. So the DDP is just not worth it for us. We can eat way cheaper paying OOP.

Good luck calling!! :wizard: Let me know what happens.

Do you have Windows Movie Maker on your computer? It's on my laptop in my Windows Photo Gallery. You just kind of have to go on it and mess around to figure it out. There are probably instructions out there somewhere on how to use it, YouTube maybe. It took me probably about 4-5 hours to make it. I started on a Friday night and finished it up on a Saturday morning.

Good morning everyone. :goodvibes I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We enjoyed another unseasonably warm one. :cloud9: I could get used to this! But unfortunately I'm pretty sure we are going to have to pay for this snowless winter pretty soon. :scared1:

Okay, I'm off to finish writing my Final Thoughts and get this TR wrapped up! :)

Final thoughts...... Where do I begin?

If you read my 'Final Thoughts' in my November 2010 trip report (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=39900093&postcount=1062) you know that I always tell it just like it is and do not sugar-coat anything. So when I sit here and tell you just how wonderful this trip was – I really mean it! :cloud9:

So I guess I will start it out with the same question as I did last year – Was this our best vacation ever? But the answer is quite different this time – YES!!! :cool1: Was it absolutely perfect? Well of course not, but it was dang close!!

The weather was fabulous for the most part. Having to fret about a possible hurricane the days before we left for vacation was not fun, but we ended up being pretty lucky! We did get our fair share if rain, but it could have been much worse. And somehow the rain is much easier to take when it is so very warm out! And speaking of it being warm – that is was. :faint: But it wasn't anything terrible like I had it in my mind that it was going to be. Yes, it was HOT most days. Very hot. But the mornings were very pleasant and so were the evenings. And it's not like it was our first trip and we had to do and see everything. So we were able to take it at our own pace and I don't think anyone really even complained about the heat. And here I was expecting the worse from the boys (all 3 of them!), I figured there would be whining all day everyday about the heat! So I went into this thinking it just might be the most boring trip ever with the heat holding us back from everything we wanted to do, but that wasn't the case at all! The rain kind of put a damper on our one evening at Epcot and gave us a later start to DTD one other day, but that was it. So all in all I was very happy with the weather. ::yes::

The crowds – or lack thereof I should say – were awesome!! :woohoo: This was seriously the least crowded I have ever seen WDW. And we have even been in January! So we were thrilled with the short lines, and even sometimes no lines! A definite plus to going this time of year. Which brings me to the parks. Of course they were all great because of the lack of people in them!! MK is of course all torn up, which is less than magical, but hopefully it will all pay off in the end and it will be bigger & better than ever! Epcot was great, considering when we went in 2010 the F&WF was going on and it was super crowded and filled with lots of peeps who had too much to drink. :scared: So we enjoyed Epcot back to it's normal state very much! :thumbsup2 Well, except when we got poured on that one evening!! :scared1: We enjoyed 2 wonderful trips to DHS and got to do just about everything we wanted to there. DS12 & I had a very fun morning at AK and got to do all that we wanted to there and more. And of course we all enjoyed 3 fun trips to DTD!! So we had lots of fun at the parks and encountered lots of happy & friendly CM's!

Both resorts we stayed at were wonderful. We already knew we loved CBR, so no surprise there. I went into this wondering if the Poly was 'all that', like everyone says it is....Well, IT IS all that and more!! :lovestruc We enjoyed every single second of our time there and consider ourselves very lucky to have stayed there. Staying CL was an extra little treat for us as well. And while we did enjoy the conveniences of it, we weren't overly impressed with the lounge offerings and didn't think it justified the cost. But the snacks were nice & convenient to have and it was nice to know what building we would be in before we got there. And staying in the Hawaii building is great! Excellent location. Speaking of excellent locations – we loved staying so close to MK!! It was awesome to be able to see MK while you are swimming! And to just be a short monorail ride away is great. We loved the atmosphere and the way everyone greeted us with “Aloha”, and all (except for that one snobby front desk CL CM) the CM's were super friendly, mousekeeping was the best I've ever seen, the pools were fantastic, and the food & shopping were great too. So like I said, we loved everything about the Poly. And yes, we do have a new favorite resort!!!!! ::yes:: And to answer the million dollar question – yes it will now be hard to go back to a moderate.

Transportation was great at both resorts. We had that one long wait at DHS for a bus back to CBR and we had the incident on the monorail when the door wouldn't open at the Poly for several minutes, but other than that everything went smoothly and I have no complaints.

Let's see, what else.....

Dining! We had lots of good meals and lots of great snacks. The meals we really enjoyed: Crystal Palace, Pollo Capmero, Ohana, Kona, CBR food court, Chef Mickey's, Casey's....This time we thought Sci-Fri was just okay, it usually tops our list. Cosmic Ray's was okay too. The meals we could have done without: La Cantina, Via Napoli, Starring Rolls, & Earl of Sandwich. We had very yummy snacks from the caramel shop in Germany, Dole Whips at the Poly, and many other places! :mickeybar

In 2010 we went without the DDP and we really enjoyed the freedom! But since we did a split stay this time we did the DDP (free dining) for the CBR half of the trip and we went without the DDP during the Poly portion of the trip (since we were on a 'room only' discount). For us, when staying moderate it is cheaper to take free dining over a room only discount. But when staying deluxe it is better to take the room discount. So we can go either way, but we really do prefer not having the DDP.

The kids were very well behaved on this trip and it was so freeing to go in the summer and not have to worry about make-up work from school! They are to the age now where we can leave them in the room for a short time and enjoy a nice walk or a quiet dinner at the resort. They enjoy this time as much as us!! And they even humored me by getting plenty of character pics this trip!

So overall I would have to say this was our best trip yet! And I would highly recommend going this time of year!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Looking forward to a 2012 trip.....

As you already know I have our 2012 trip booked – April 28 – May 6 at the Beach Club. (with a 30% off room only discount) I had our ADR's booked months ago when I first thought the trip might be a possibility. But then it looked as if the trip wasn't going to happen, but I held onto the ADR's anyway. So then later when I was able to book, the ADR's were already set. So there hasn't been a lot of planning going on for this trip. Since we were there late last summer & I bought a lot of clothes for that trip and it will likely be pretty warm in May, I don't really have a ton of shopping to do for the trip. But of course that is subject to change the closer we get!! :rotfl:

We have talked about moving the trip to the end of August... We are pretty bummed that Test Track and BTMRR will be closed in May. But I think TT will still be closed in August...although BTMRR would be open...So IDK. We'll see. Right now DS is doing fantastic in Middle School, but we just started the second semester and his teachers have made it very clear that things are going to ge harder from here. So if things start to get harder for him that would be another reason to postpone until August. Just being able to go without having to deal with school & make-up work in pretty inviting!! So, we'll see what happens....

We are planning a little side trip this time. Something we've never done before! We've never ventured off WDW property. So this will be very new to us! We are renting a car for one day of our trip, and if you want all the details you will have to read the PTR!! (Although I think you've probably figured out most of it by now!:upsidedow)

I have no airfare for the trip yet, so that is scary. It is terribly high (compared to what I usually pay) right now, so I am waiting it out......:wizard:

So I guess that's about it! I hope you have all enjoyed the TR, I have sure enjoyed sharing the journey with all of you!

See ya real soon

I'm so glad it was a close to perfect vacation for y'all. I'm super happy that you got to stay at the Poly and enjoyed it and found a new favorite resort!:cloud9:

I want you to go back and read your final thoughts about your August trip.

Yes, we are very happy that we got to stay at the Poly and now we have one more (what does that make - two?) thing at WDW in common!! :goodvibes

I sure don't know if May will live up to our August trip, but then again IDK if going again in August will live up to this past trip either. :confused3 You know my luck on going the same time of year 2 years in a row. So maybe it's best if we change it up. :thumbsup2

Yes, I do have plans. Some anyway. I really need to get on that now that this TR is over and I can concentrate on the next trip a little more. ::yes:: I have a basic plan, but still have lots of little details to work out. You wanted to help me with that, right?! :cool1:

I am so glad that you guys had a wonderful trip. I know you had your doubts going in. I was worried about that heat for you! I'm happy that you found it managable. And I can relate to the hurrican drama. Not the best way to start a trip for sure. :sad2:

Isn't it funny how we are satisfied staying at one level of resort until we stay at another? When we stayed at ASMo and Pop, we had a wonderful time. But after staying at CBR, I don't want to go back! I'm actually afraid to stay at a deluxe, b/c I know the same thing will happen with that and my wallet cannot afford to get hooked on deluxes! I can totally see how you wouldn't want to stay anywhere else after the Poly. It does have some major perks!

I'm so sad this is over. :sad1: But, I can't wait for you to start your PTR. Please make sure you let me know when you do b/c I never check the PTR board. Send me a PM or just let me know on my TR if you don't mind. I absolutely don't want to miss it!

Did everyone see the new changes coming to the Fastpass System?

http://www.wdwmagic.com/Other/FASTPASS/News/06Feb2012-Big-changes-coming-to-FASTPASS-in-March.htm

"Big changes coming to FASTPASS in March
Feb 06, 2012

Some big changes are expected to be implemented at all FASTPASS attractions next month. Starting March 7 2012, it is expected that the FASTPASS return windows will now be actively enforced, with a 5 minute early arrival and 15 minute late arrival to be allowed. Anyone arriving outside of those times will not be allowed entry to the attraction. The new validity windows will be required for the future roll-out of more advanced NextGen FASTPASS systems, which will require much tighter control of FASTPASS entry than what the current system offers.

The current FASTPASS system does not allow early arrival times, but does allow late arrivals up to the end of the day. Many guests make use of the late arrival tolerance with the current system, so the new enforcement will be a significant impact to those guest's park touring plans."

I saw that. I've always thought that it was odd that they didn't enforce the one hour window but that sure didn't keep me from using them later than the time stamped on the Fastpass.;)

Me too. We were never the people who like to see how many FP we could collect throughout the day or anything, but if we happened to miss our one hour window we knew we could still use them. So this is a real bummer.

Yeah, that's kind of what I am thinking about our upcoming trip -- it is going to be much busier than the last trip, so utilizing FP is going to be important. Especially at Epcot for Soarin, when TT is going to be down. Things are going to be a lot more difficult now. :scared:

I hate when WDW gets us used to something and then snatches it away! :headache: (Remember when the DDP included an appetizer and a tip???)

We are going over Memorial Day weekend and know that it will be fairly busy and we won't have the luxury of coming back on another day since there aren't that many days in the first place.

Oh I remember well the days of the appetizers and tip being included on the dining plan. I so wish they'd allow us to have either an appetizer OR dessert.

Unfortunately I think I lot of people did that - collected them throughout the day. This made the FP lines hard to "control" with the return times - making the FP line sometimes very long. We are like you and didn't collect them, but this really doesn't surprise me that Disney is doing this.

Shelly,

I was thinking back today when I first "met" you online on the Mayers thread and how we were all excited about our trips to WDW. Now, fast-forward, can you believe it has been almost 5 years since those May 2007 trips we all took?!?!

It is so cool to see how much fun and joy your family has every time you visit the resort. You definitely are well planned and are detailed oriented, but still manage to be flexible and relax, even if your plans don't always turn out as you expected. Still, the magic, the wonder, excitement and the discovery of new experiences at the parks and resorts bring smiles on your faces and in your hearts.

Thank you for sharing your trip with us - the photos, video and information - it is always so interesting and thoughtful. You tell it like it is - right to the point! LOL!

I hope that your upcoming trip will be just as wonderful and magical as the last one. Looking forward to your PTR and TR in the near future!

Regarding the new FP policies - it is about time that they would enforce this. I know it is a bummer when you end up on the opposite side of the park, or stuck in another line, when your FP time has come up - but they have to set some limits on these things. There is just too many people and FP system is already overloaded. This will hopefully make wait times more faster and smoother.

Thank you for sharing your trip with us - the photos, video and information - it is always so interesting and thoughtful. You tell it like it is - right to the point! LOL!

I hope that your upcoming trip will be just as wonderful and magical as the last one. Looking forward to your PTR and TR in the near future!

Sea :cool1:

It has been a long time Sea!!! :cool1: We were about to embark on our 2nd WDW trip when I met you and all the other MAYers. And look at us now - about to take our 8th trip!! :faint: Hard to believe.

I'm glad you have enjoyed the TR and video. I have enjoyed sharing it all with all of you. It's fun to relive the memories! :goodvibes

Years ago I thought they did enforce it, but over the years I learned that they didn't at all. I'm okay with the change, I just wish they would have enforced it from the beginning. I can foresee a lot of unhappy people when they are 30 minutes late for their FP because they weren't seated at their ADR time or something like that. :scared1:

I really enjoyed reading your TR. I'm glad you guys had such a nice time!

I'm not happy about them enforcing the FP rule. I really don't think the people coming late made much of a difference. The only time I ever encountered a FP line longer than 5 (bit max 10) minutes was at Soarin. And actually, even there most of my waiting was after the merge, so technically not FP wait anymore.

Thanks Mel! :)

Yeah the FP line for Soarin is always long, especially after the merge. We have encountered long FP lines at TT too, but other than that I don't think too many of them have been that bad.

No partying going on at the moment. Remember that bad weather I told you about? Well, it's heeerrrreee. :scared1: I spent some time in my closet a little while ago when we had a tornado warning and it got really scary looking outside. It's a little better now, but I am sitting here in the dark - no power. :headache: We are supposed to go to a parade later if the weather has passed, but not if I can't shower and wash my hair. I could do that, but if I can't dry my hair, it ain't happening.

I just took 2 hours and read your entire TR!!! (I love chapter links for easier reading). I'd love to stay at the Poly someday. It's on my list of dream resorts. I can't wait to read your review of the Beach Club...another dream resort!!! I also can't wait to start my own PTR soon. :goodvibes
