Are you missing me yet???

:rotfl2:

Can I just say that this has been one of those Christmases that never ends and it hasn't gotten any better yet?? :headache:

Oh well... life continues.

I'm sorry I've missed so much here--- your updates are wonderful.

Loved the Christmas pics- I'm so glad that the boys had a great time. Including your excessively hairy son. Those are adorable pics--- you should frame the one of Jack in the paper.

Great update from Epcot too!! I hate WDW in the rain-- I know people say just put your poncho on and deal with it-- but I'm such a brat that I think it should never ever ever rain on my parade. :rolleyes1
It's ok I guess if it's just sprinkling- but the downpours-- uh-uh. Miserable. And then you're wet and feel gross.

The pic of DS10 on Soarin is so precious-- loved it. What a smile.:cloud9:

I hope all is well with you---
Happy New Year to you if I don't get back on here before then!!

Of course we miss you!!

Sorry things aren't going as planned on your Christmas vacation. You'll be home soon! :)

My excessively hairy son!! :rotfl2: Do you mean Jack or DS12??? :rotfl:

Yeah, put your ponchos on and go. Right. That was the plan. And that's what we did, I guess. But it sure was gross. :scared:

Happy New Year to you too! :cool1:

Love the Soarin' pics ! Although the person in the background that is leaning over the front really weirds me out. :scared1: I'm too scared to MOVE on that ride .. never mind lean over.

Yeah rain really stinks .. we had a week of it when we went there one October and it was miserable. :sad2: I'm sort of thinking it could go either way for our April trip .. hopefully we'll have a DRY week. :goodvibes

Thanks! :goodvibes I noticed that guy in the pic too...I wonder what he was doing?

I hope you have a dry week in April too! :wizard: All in all we could have had much more rain than we did on this trip. It was calling for storms all day everyday and we didn't get near that much rain!

Anyone have any big plans for NYE??? I guess we don't really. Probably just some shopping and out to dinner, just like any other Saturday night. :rotfl:

----

After our flight on Soarin we were getting hungry and headed to Mexico for dinner. We didn't have any ADR's and wanted to try the new CS restaurant in Mexico – La Cantina de San Angel.

On the way we spotted Duffy. DS12 wanted a pic with him!

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2011/ff04a817.jpg

The rain unfortunately had not stopped. It was a pretty miserable walk and our feet were soaked. La Cantina wasn't too busy when we got there so we got to order right away. The food was just okay and the whole experience was pretty unpleasant – eating outside with our wet ponchos on.

Sorry, that's all I have for pictures. :confused3 DH and I got the Beef Nachos to share. The kids got Chicken Tenders & tortillas to share. And we got some Churros with caramel sauce. You don't get too many churros and the caramel sauce was runny. The total price was around $26. I'm not really sure how to rate it. None of us cared for it, but I'm guessing that was mostly because of the circumstances. Maybe we'll try it again sometime on a nicer day.

After we ate we headed on into World Showcase.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2011/feae11aa.jpg

Stopped into Stave Church for Jodi. (Who was due to arrive at WDW that night and I was texting her telling her to bring her ponchos & umbrellas!!)

Oh wow, yummy food pics Shelly! I could almost eat my computer screen!

My wife loves the Germany pavilion, that candy looks so good.

We are going to Disneyland for NYE. First time ever. Heard that DL has been at capacity several times this week already. That means around 52,000 people in the park. We are going in at 8 a.m., opening just to make sure we can get back in. Staying at the HoJo. Happy about that. Meeting up with Katiebelle for breakfast at River Belle Terrace - that should be fun, they have been there for the past 3 days. You can follow me on twitter @TommyPix to see if we survive and still have our sanity!

Great update shelly!
Nice Christmas pics! Love the pic of ds10 on soarin.
We've only seen the Canada movie and I'm sure it's only because the boys thought they'd see some hockey in it. They were right. We'll have to see the France
One this time :)
Happy new year!

Ok, I am really excited because I think I just learned something new about WS! Yes, that makes me a WS nerd... Can you go into that Viking building??? I never thought you could but I didn't recognize that picture. Is that the church you were talking about? I must know! I can't believe there is an inch of WS that I don't know about!

The caramel shop can definitely brighten a day up. That chocolate covered strawberry is calling for me right now! YUM!

Sorry to hear your food at La Cantina wasn't great. We ate at the one that used to be there once and it was just ok too. We have MUCH better Mexican food here at home. I'd put our local place up against any swanky Mexican place on the planet. But I bet you are right... sitting in wet ponchos doesn't make for good dining ambiance. :(

Somehow I have missed the Caramel shop everytime I've gone to Epcot. :confused3 So everytime I see pictures in a trip report I drool all over myself. DF is wondering why I'm drooling on my laptop. Yummmmm

I had just read an article about the France film in my Celebrations magazine before we went on vacation, so I guess that's why I picked that one. I'll have to do my research and decide which one I am going to drag the family to next time. :rotfl:

Well WS nerd (:rotfl2:) - yes, you can go in that Viking building!! Don't feel bad, I didn't know that either on my first 6 trips. :upsidedow It was Jodi who brought it to my attention. She always says how she loves stopping into Stave Church in WS and one day it dawned on me that I didn't even know what she was talking about. So, I finally got to the bottom of that mystery. :rotfl:

A chocolate (and caramel) covered strawberry is exactly what I got in the caramel shop that evening! :goodvibes

Yeah, we sure weren't impressed with the Mexican food at La Cantina. :confused3 We still have yet to find a CS restaurant in Epcot that we love....Which is kind of ridiculous considering the amount of choices there. :upsidedow

It really hasn't been there that long. Maybe less than 2 years....But next time you better put it at the top of your list!! :thumbsup2 It is so good! Very pricey of course, but so good. :cloud9:

Happy New Year to you too !!

I guess the announcement is great for people who live close by or happen to be there that day .. but really doesn't affect me and my family. :confused3
So .. in all I'm not overly impressed.

BUT I DO have a Disney trip coming ... so I won't complain !!

I agree. I was sorta like...big whoop. Doesn't really mean much to people who can't get there for that day. Who comes up with these ideas anyway? I was sort of hoping for something like extended park hours(beyond EMH) Ah well.

Happy New Year to you too!
It was just another Saturday night here at my house. We don't really do anything special. We were gonna have a New Year's party this year but my DH turned 40 so his party is next Sat. night so we didn't want 2 parties in a row.
As for the so called "big announcement", my DH said "They need better people in there marketing dept. who comes up with this stuff?"
Not really a big announcement. who cares about being open 24 hrs.
How about giving the buy 3days get 3 days. Didn't they use to do something like that?
Well off to DS10's hockey game and dinner at grandparents- yum! :)

Mndisneygirl

So the "big announcement" is just one 24 hour day? SO WHAT? That's not a campaign for the year, that's just dumb.
I was hoping for an extra day for everyone - like buy a 3 day park ticket or package and get the 4th free. I especially wanted a ticket deal (since we have DVC we don't do the packages).

Anyway - Soarin - LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! So jealous that you could get Fps twice in one day! Sorry you got all wet though. I've never been in Stave Church either, although I have heard of it.
Saw the French movie EONs ago - want to go back. I like the Canada one - it's cute, but it is a 360 standing movie. So is China, but the scenes with the Great Wall are really awesome. It's been a while since we've seen any other than Canada. Not sure the kids remember ever seeing France or China's movies. Good things to do in the rain, or when you need to cool off though!

Ah, the Caramel shop! Excuse me, let me wipe off my keyboard. Little bit of drool there.

Cute pics of Christmas! Love that one of Jack in the wrapping paper. My kids still enjoy a good box now, but it has to be big - I got some Pampered Chef stuff delivered the week before Christmas and I had a huge box - they turned it into a space ship or something. Made me question all the money I had spent on gifts...

Yeah, I wasn't really impressed with the big announcement either. On top of the 24hrs on Leap Day, they are offering 'one more day' free to a 3 night package too, but it's only for a very short time span like Feb 26 to March 10, I think. http://bookwdw.reservations.disney.go.com/ibcwdw/en_US/specialOfferDetails?name=Promo&promotionCode=fy12onemoreday&market=fy12onemoreday I was thinking it was going to be for half the year or something, not only a few weeks. Oh well, maybe something better will come along!! :wizard:

We need to make it a point to try to see a film or two each trip. You are right -- they are a good thing to do in the heat and/or rain. ::yes::

I suppose my kids would still enjoy a huge box too!! :upsidedow

Happy New Year Shelly!

The "Big" Announcement was not so big after all :rotfl: I thought it might include a free day but I also thought it would be for longer than 2 weeks. I did the math and my 30% is better by $201. I guess bookings must be down for those two weeks, no crowds will be fine with me.

9 weeks from today I will be at BWI

Next it was back to future world for one more flight on Soarin before we headed back to the Poly for the night. We thought about staying for IllumiNations since the rain had finally stopped, but we decided that since we had seen IllumiNations so many times on the last trip (having stayed at BWI) that we would rather spend our evening at the Poly. (And in dry shoes!!)

I am falling in love with the Poly! How great was it to have a view like that from the lounge, have a pool view from your room and snacks too!!! I bet you were feeling a bit spoiled!

Wise choice to go back and relax and enjoy that resort more! That's what DH would do!!

For the drinks choices - was there a big selection of beer/wine?

I'm so glad we decided to go back the resort that night. We only had 4 nights at the Poly, so we wanted to take full advantage of our time there!

I think there were about 3-4 beer choices, not sure about the wine. Probably at least that many.

Such cute pictures of you and your sons!
Goodness, the Poly views look so gorgeous at night. The water pageant looks precious.

Thanks! :goodvibes

The Poly is very awesome at night! :cloud9:

We always seem to see IlluminNations more since we love WS and end up spending more time there in the evenings but a night relaxing at the resort is always good. I loved the Poly at night when we went to the Aloha Dinner Show, the lights the music, I just wish DH had fallen in love with it too like me.
Staying CL is perfect for the evening and watching EWP and Wishes :cloud9:

Happy New Year Everyone!

Shelly - Yes, I saw One Republic perform there - three weeks ago - it was taped for the NYE special. I was on the TL side of the hub near the castle in the middle of the screaming girls. LOL.

We did have a blast a NYE at DL. 19 hours! Got there at 8 a.m. Long lines and lots of people everywhere. I counted one women's bathroom line that had over 75 ladies waiting. Even some men's bathroom had lines. The secret bathrooms had no lines! ;)

Going to do NYE at DCA next year. Great atmosphere and fun! Check out my videos and post here: http://www.disneyprojects.com

As for Disney's 24 hour, leap day announcement - I hope they have special entertainment or fireworks - not a lot of info when they made the announcement. We will have to see what they do.

Shelly, I thought I'd let you know that I bit the bullet and booked the Disney cruise yesterday. I booked it on a whim after playing around on the site for quite a while. Every time I tried to price out the cheapest room, it would let me get all the way to the credit card information and I'd get an error message. I didn't give up though and when it came up available, I booked it. We had to shorten the WDW portion of the trip though and I'm a little worried about that.

Wow!! :cool1: Congrats!

I booked one a few months ago too, but then chickened out and cancelled a few weeks later. :guilty: Basically for that reason -- I didn't want to give up any days at WDW!! :upsidedow Well that and some other things were going on that made me think the dates I booked weren't going to work out.

Are you doing a 3 or 4 nighter before or after your trip?

We decided on the 3 night cruise. I really wish the ships left out of the port on a Wednesday rather than a Thursday so we would have more time at WDW but there weren't any during our time frame. The only cruise that would work for our travel dates was one that sailed before our time at WDW. We'll be on the Disney Dream May 24th to May 27th and then at the CBR May 27th to June 2nd. It's been a long time since we've spent just 5 days in the parks and it worries me a little.

I say all this but then I forgot to mention that I haven't modified our original WDW vacation package yet. I guess I'm keeping it the same just in case I chicken out of the cruise. I'll have to make a final decision by March 10th though because that's the last date I have to cancel the cruise.

I can confirm they do play music with the EWP. It's very cute! I remember the first time I saw it. We had booked for Shades of Green, but because of construction they put us in the now-destroyed garden wing at the Contemporary! We were putting the kids to bed and heard music from outside. we looked out and saw these lights in the water!!! We got the kids up to see that!! It was so cool.

Happy belated birthday Jodi, wherever you are!!!

Shelly - did I know that you canceled the cruise? I don't remember that. I hope you'll try again some other time.
I know it's hard to give up the parks for something unknown, but it's so awesome!!! I never looked at it as sacrificing the park part of my vacation, so maybe it's different for me.

Mickeystoontown - don't despair about the cruise!!! Please, it's so much fun!!! I think the 3 day is too short, but we've done it a couple tmes and loved it! We usually don't get more than 5 or 6 park days. (even without the cruise). It can be done and you can still enjoy the parks. Maybe you wouldn't have a down day if you usually do. But the cruise can be so relaxing!!! Can you tell I'm a big fan??? I know it's not for everyone, and they are very pricey, but give it a try! The time of year you're going - a lot of places are not out of school yet, so maybe with lower crowds you can do more in less time? Just my 2 cents.

Christmas Drama ensues between me, MC, my mom and her new husband
More drama--- won't bore you with details
Gma dies :(
More drama...:headache:
family in from out of town-- 10 people staying in one house-- send kids to SIL's house to sleep
More drama...:scared1:
Could I find a shower please for the love of all things holy, just a place to shower???????
Where's my socks? Anyone seen my boots? drew, where are your pants???
Nothing to wear to the visitation OR the funeral
SHOP for new clothes for both. For 5 people. Belts, socks, shoes included. Painful.
CC company thinks my card was stolen and freezes it. OUCH.
Another shower??????? Please??????
Sleep on the floor... for 5 nights. Pass the Excedrin, please.
FUNERAL
Leave for home
Charged twice for hotel room that we had cancelled. Painful.
I get to sleep in a bed!!!!! In a hotel!!!! Yay me!!
Wake up--- Happy Birthday to ME!! Wait.... why isn't the fam saying Happy birthday to me??? What do you mean they freaking forgot my Birthday???????????!!!! I'm turning 40 and they forget???????:guilty:
Birthday Brat.... yes, that was me. Pouting ensued.
10 more hours driving to get home. It's my Birthday and no one even said "Happy birthday you old hag". Pity party.
Kids miss first day back to school
Almost home-- rock flies up and smashes one of my running lights. It disintegrates. Happy Birthday indeed.
Oh and to top it off, my Drivers license expired yesterday.
So today I got the pleasure of sitting in the DMV with all the other unhappy people. For hours.

The crowds are mild, but there are lots of refurbs that go on. (For example, Matterhorn is going to be closed for 6 months, starting in a few days.) Not uncommon to have 2 or 3 rides closed during this time. Weather wise, mild and cool. 60-70. Colder nights, down in to 50s. or high 40s. If it rains, it isnt that much. It is a nice time to visit, but not good if you want a beach day, etc.

Check out my ticker! Changes! I posted what we doing on the Mayers thread.

Just kidding! ;)

Oy. You just can't make that stuff up. I think I might have killed my family if they completely blew off my birthday. Didn't the DMV throw you a party?

Morning! Thanks for commiserating with me everyone! I will say this much about the trip--- I didn't even tell you all of it, so consider yourselves lucky. :lmao:
Lots more happened including people arguing in church at the Christmas Eve service, Belle having a meltdown of epic proportions b/c she heard us talking about getting Drew's bike from Target (Yes, Virginia, there really is NO santa Claus...:guilty::sad2:) and then there was the lady in the bath robe (don't laugh Shelly she really was in a dang robe!!:scared1:) who walked passed me and my SIL in my InLaws house and disappeared behind a door on the morning Gma passed away.:scared1::scared1:
Hellllllllooooooo, Ghost Hunters???? :faint:

You guys all know I'm good for a story. If it's gonna happen, it's happening to me. :rotfl2:

Shelly---- remember when I was in Cracker Barrel in Tennessee on the way home and we were texting? Right after that Mark said "did you hear from your mom yet?" and I said Yeah. He said "What did she say?" and I said "She sang me Happy Birthday." His face was all  and then :headache: and then he said "I hate myself" and Drew said What the heck???? And Belle was all grins b/c she was in the car with me when I got the call, and MC smacked her forehead and said Holy Crap!!!!!:rotfl:

So yeah, they all knew it and of course I forgave them. This whole trip was unfreakingbelievable anyway and he always makes such a huge deal about it for me b/c I'm scarred from childhood and people always forgetting my bday b/c it's after Christmas. Or giving me a present and saying "this is your christmas present AND your birthday present".:headache: Why yes, it IS all about me.

Anywhoooooo---

Day 8 – Friday September 2

We had no definite plans for this day. Other than meeting up with Jodi & family that evening at the Poly!! DH & the kids headed to the lounge for some breakfast. Just as I got up Jodi texted to see if I was up yet. So I called her to see if she was in-fact there and if we were finally WDW neighbors!! :cool1: We talked about her arrival night late the night before and talked about our plans for the day. She thought maybe her and the kids were going to go to MK for a bit when they got up. They were still in bed because they had arrived so late and went swimming when they got there!!!!

I told her I wasn't exactly sure of our plans yet either, so we decided to just keep each other posted in texts throughout the day and if we could plan an earlier meet up we would!

Well when my family got back to the room they had decided that we needed to make yet another trip to DTD!! :faint: Remember how I had wanted to be done with AK, DHS, and DTD before we got to the Poly??? Well some of that worked out, but not all. DS10 had to get one more thing from the Lego Store! Good grief. So we got ready and decided we would just have lunch somewhere at DTD while we were there.

We messed around at the GCH for a bit before heading out to the bus stop.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2012/28675e45.jpg

I bought this flower hair clip! Thought about getting this necklace, but didn't.

I had heard that the trip from the Poly to DTD and back was pretty long and unpleasant. When we got to the bus stop we had just missed a DTD bus and I figured we would have to wait forever. The bus stop was packed and there was nowhere to sit down. But withing about 3-4 minutes another DTD bus pulled up and we were the only ones to get on. I think it had come from the Contemporary because there were some people already on the bus. We made a quick stop at the GF and then we were off to DTD and it didn't take all that much time!

After a quick stop in the Pin Trader store and Once Upon a Toy store, we were on our way to the Lego Store. Once again. For the very last time this trip – I promise!!

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2012/80135bba.jpg

DS10 made his final purchases (as you can see, even DS12 is getting irritated by all the time spent in the Lego Store!!) and spent every last cent he had in there and we were on our way!

We then made a quick stop into the World of Disney, where I bought a few things I had my eye on all week:

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2012/3ca30370.jpg

We were getting hungry and had decided to have lunch at Earl of Sandwich. We had been there once before, several trips ago. We didn't have a very good experience, but we decided it was time to give it a try again. But before we got there we stopped into Team Mickey. It's a really cool store. I don't know if we had even been inside there before.

I took some pics of some Florida Gator items/apparel for Jodi & family!

And then we popped into Tren-D, I think those 2 stores were connected on the inside if I remember correctly. They had some cool stuff as well, but very pricey!

I can totally relate to this! My DH's b-day is Dec. 28 and that happened to him all the time.
Anyway he just turned 40 and we're having a party for him this Sat. I wanted to have his party on NYE but he wasn't sharing his b-day with any other holiday!! I'm sure you understand that, me not so much. I thought NYE would be fun lol.
Well welcome to the 40 party!!! I turned 40 in Sept. and celebrated in WDW. It was fantastic :woohoo:
My DH got me the most beautiful cake at Narcoossees. I felt I couldn't top that.

Whew! All caught up from where I left off over 10 pages ago! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Loved the pic of Jack in the wrapping paper- should be a Norman Rockwell painting!

Great pics of the boys on the slide at Poly. Such Rock Stars!

Also loved the Soarin pics. I've never attempted taking pics while on there.

DTD- The Wishes CD is on my wish list too. I bought Illuminations and my eyes well up every time I listen to it. Love bringing the music home and closing my eyes to reminisce being there in person.

And last but certainly not least.....JO! Poor poor Jo. :sad2:
Happy belated 40th. :bday:party::rockband::cake:

Thanks, glad you liked the update. Lots to come on the meet up(s)!! :yay:

You are so right, our names should be somewhere in DTD for as much as we go there each trip!! The Mickey head thing is an antenna topper! :earboy2:

I really don't know how long Team Mickey has been there. At least a few years because I remember walking by it several times before.

Glad things are a little better today. Hang in there.

Okay, so I know this is totally OT here!! Well maybe not, we were just talking about LEGOS!! But did anyone know that Legoland is now open in FL??? :yay:

I was recently pricing out a trip to DL and wanted to throw in a side trip to Legoland out there, but then changed my mind about the whole thing when a very good DIS friend told me about all the refurbs and construction going on out there this year.

So anyway -- I went to look up Legoland and there is now one near Tampa FL!! :cool1: Now that I think about it, it seems like maybe I read about this coming a long tome ago and then totally forgot. But either way -- it's now there and now I am going to have to figure out how to work that into the next WDW trip!!!!!!!!! And it will be a surprise of course. :ssst:

I just changed our plans so that we could include LegoLand this year. Very excited about it. I had never heard of it before a couple months ago. Never knew there was one in CA of anything. It looks like so much fun and I think my little one who is 5 will just love it! It looks pretty reasonably priced too. Fun fun fun!

Isn't Legoland like an hour away from the WDW area ? I know my guys would love it but I have no idea how we would get there from the WDW resort.

It does look kind of awesome !! :thumbsup2

I vaguely recall something about one being built in Ct. some years back I think but not having youngsters anymore not sure if it was ever done or just a dream in the making.

I kinda miss having Legos laying around the house. DS14 loved Star Wars and Legos. I swear he had every SW spaceship made of legos. DS10 not so much. My DS14 would sit and play with them forever. I have a friend doing a non Disney FL vacation in April and they're doing Legoland. Not sure where they're staying. I think they're doing Uni/IOA too.
Hope you get to go soon.

If it's in Tampa, its about an hour's drive. You could always rent a car for the day. It's an easy drive. We stayed in the Tampa area a few years ago for vacation and made the drive to Orlando one day. Easy-peasy. :thumbsup2

It says about 45 minutes from Orlando. It looks like they offer a shuttle from the Orlando Outlets to Legoland, so I guess you could take a cab to the outlets from your hotel. We would probably just rent a car for the day.

That's how my kids are, but the other way around. DS12 never had too much interest in them. I mean he played with them a little when he was younger, but nothing like DS10. That kid LOVES those things!! He would seriously be in heaven if we took him to Legoland!

Okay, enough Lego business (although I am very excited about it :hyper:)!!

Back to the TR --

As I mentioned previously, we had decided to have lunch at Earl of Sandwich. It was before noon, so it wasn't terribly crowded, but still crowded enough. Is that place ever not crowded???

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2012/53795cfb.jpg

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2012/2954d202.jpg

We waited in line for less than 10 minutes probably before ordering. But I remembered from our last time there that your wait isn't over then!! So we finished going through the line and fought our way to the pop machine to get our drinks and then we wait....and wait....and wait....For 3 sandwiches! Eventually our number was called and we went outside and got a seat.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2012/4c23b5e9.jpg

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2012/ec393145.jpg

DS12 got the PB&J sandwich. And like the last time, the PB was a little melty. Yuck!! I got the “The Caprese - fresh mozzarella, roma tomatos, fresh basil and drizzled balsamic vinaigrette”. It was okay, nothing great though. I also had a strawberry/banana smoothie. It was good. DH got the “The Full Montagu - roast beef and turkey with sharp cheddar ceese and aged Swiss cheese, romaine lettuce, roma tomato and Earl's mustard sauce”. He liked it okay, but wasn't overly impressed. DS10 of course didn't like anything they had to offer, so I don't remember exactly what we got him. Maybe some kind of yogurt or pudding parfait. And he had some of the bread from my sandwich.

Sorry to say that again we didn't see the big draw to Earl of Sandwich. It certainly wasn't awful or anything, but there are much better options out there in our opinion.

Rating: 6 out of 10
Total Bill: $23 (at least it was cheap!)

I signed up for the Orlando newsletter and they sent me an Orlando discount card too. I thought for our upcoming trip that we'd venture offsite and the discount card would come in handy. (That was before the cruise came into play.) It's free of charge so you might benefit from it as well. :thumbsup2

You definitely need to work Cirque du Soleil into one of your upcoming trips. We have seen it three times and would go back again in a heartbeat. It's well worth the money. But, as fast as your boys are going, I think you should go to Legoloand first so they don't feel like they are too old for it.

I know, I've been wanting to make time for Cirque for a few years now, but it has just never happened. But that is exactly what I was thinking -- better get to Legoland ASAP before the boys get any older. Legoland - I had just recently heard about it too. They did a review on the DIS unplugged podcast not that long ago. I think there are pictures etc. up on the site too. Your son would go nuts! Yeah, I don't think EOS has a whole lot of kid friendly food!

No, that pic is with my camera. It has a button to set a little timer (like 10 seconds maybe) and it shoots automatically. I had wanted to do a family photo shoot at the Poly since we were staying there and we hadn't had a professional family pic since like 2006! But then I looked at the prices. :scared1: It was a crazy price and it was for only 20 minutes!! So I packed us all some decent clothes anyway and on our last night at the Poly we went out and did our very own photo shoot!! And it went surprisingly well! :goodvibes We got some really nice photos. I can post them when I get to that day if anyone wants to see them!

I love the idea that you will surprise your DS with a trip to LegoLand.

I have read nothing but good reviews about Eos sometimes I think the sandwiches sound and look good and other times not so much but I always thought I would like to try eating there one day, but on second thought there is so much to choose from in DTD maybe especially now that they added so many new restaurants in DTD to the DP plus with the long waits at EOS I will pass on it. Sorry they had nothing DS12 liked

I wondered also about your new pic, it came out really good, I have never tried using the timer on a camera.

On a side note, I have been researching renting a car this trip and if you do stay at BC I know you can rent a car at the Dolphin from Alamo, their rates do not seem to bad plus there are various discounts at any given time.

You should give EOS a try if you have time. You might like it. I just wouldn't make a special trip there for it.

I love the timer button on the camera! I think I forgot to mention that I got a new camera for Christmas. :santa: I haven't tried the timer button on it yet. I'm excited to take the new camera to WDW!! It's so small & light!

We looked into taking the kids to LegoLand this past trip but the added drive, time away from Disney, and extra cost kept us from doing it. Perhaps the next trip! :goodvibes DS was happy enough in the Lego store this trip.

[QUOTE=Momof2Disneyboys;43638638]Good to see you here!! I have been wondering where you have been. I figured you were still overwhelemed after vacation. Either that or depressed!!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed all the pics!

A few trips back I bought the Four Parks One World CD set, but honestly I listen to the Wishes CD more! :goodvibes Once in awhile I get out the 4 parks CD's and I randomly play a song and we play "Name that Disney tune"! The kids always beat DH!!

You are right - Jodi needs a do-over and it should involve a Dole Whip and the Poly! :cloud9:

Thanks! :goodvibes We really got some great pics. But unfortunately the hammock pics didn't come out too well. I think Legoland tix will cost us about $265, plus a rental car for the day....not sure what that will cost at all. We will have to eat, but we would have to eat anyway!! Hopefully it won't cost us a fortune to make the side trip there.

Well I'm glad to hear you are just overwhelmed and not depressed. I guess that is the better of the two!

I really hate that you didn't like EoS again. We haven't eaten there yet, but I have only heard good things about it. Maybe it's one of those places that you just haven't ordered the right thing yet. :confused3 I know we eat at a few places here at home where I like a certain thing on the menu and that's what I always get. I know you hate to keep spending money 'experimenting' though. I've really been wanting to try it out for years now, but I guess I need to find out what the most popular sandwich is and stick with that. There must be something good there for it to always be busy though. We always end up at WPE when we are there and have loved it every time. And it's such a good value on the DDP. Maybe if we ever go without the DDP, we'll give EoS a try since it's so cheap.

We always end up at WPE when we are there and have loved it every time. And it's such a good value on the DDP. Maybe if we ever go without the DDP, we'll give EoS a try since it's so cheap.

Yeah, I hear mostly good things about it too. It's just not for us I guess. :confused3 That's okay though, we would rather go to WPE or Pollo Campero when we are in DTD! Or T-Rex!! T-Rex is at the top of the list for next time! :thumbsup2

Good morning! :goodvibes Anyone up for a DIS Meet today??? :cool1:

After we were done with lunch at DTD we went out to the bus stop on the West Side and made our way back to the Poly. I believe our bus stopped at the Contemporary first.

The kids were so excited! They thought that was the coolest thing they had ever seen and they were now convinced that the Poly was the best resort ever!!

It was almost 1:00 now and I texted Jodi to let her know we were back at the Poly. Her and the kids were in line for Buzzlightyear and said they were going to ride BTMRR and then take the monorail over to see us!!

The kids got into their swimsuits so they could go in the pool later after we were done visiting with Jodi & the kids. Then we went out and of course all the tables by the pool were taken. So we got a nice quiet table outside behind Captain Cooks. And I texted Jodi to let her know where we were. She texted back that they had just got on the monorail at MK!! And then they were at the CT. And then they were at the TTC. And then she texted -- Next Stop the Poly!!!!! We were all so excited!:cool1:

This was our view looking towards the pool while we waited.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2012/cabc069a.jpg

There weren't too many people at all in that seating area, so it was nice!

I kept looking towards the back entrance/exit of the GCH, expecting them to be coming out of there. But pretty soon I hear someone coming up behind me and it is Jodi!! :yay: They had snuck out the back of Captain Cooks!

We jumped up & down a bit and hugged and then had a seat and started chatting away. The kids hit it off right away and were talking about parks and rides and pins!

We sent DH to the lounge to get us all some drinks & snacks. And we visited for about an hour I suppose and then made plans to meet up later after they had dinner at Ohana! Then they made their way back to the GF. They took the walking path, rather than the monorail. We all wanted to see if the path was open or not, because we had heard before we left that it was closed because of the construction of the new DVC resort going on between the Poly & the GF. But the path was in-fact OPEN!!

Looked like a nice visit. Did you guys know each other before or did you meet on the Dis? Was this the first time you met each other? It's always nice when your kids get along with friend's kids.
I hated it when all the tables at the pool were taken. I swear you need to be there by 8am!!

Jodi and I met here on the DIS about 5 years ago. We met on a May 2007 planning thread. Our trips overlapped that May, but we did not meet up. We figured out that we only lived about 30 minutes apart, so we met up for lunch one day later that year! Then a few months later she moved halfway across the country and we hadn't seen each other since. We of course talk every single day, but none of our WDW trips overlapped again, until this summer when they just 'happened' to! :rotfl:

The kids had a great time. Her son and my DS12 are the same age. They had actually been texting each other during our trip, so they finally got to see who they had been talking to! And her youngest DD and my DS10 are the same age and are very much alike. We always say that they were either separated at birth or destined to marry! And her oldest DD is such a sweetheart, everyone just loved her!

You are right -- you can never go to the Poly pool in the afternoon and expect to get a table! :upsidedow

Boy what a day that was!!! If we could only go back to that hour right now... How fun!!

Loved those towel animals. They are probably the best I've ever seen done. I want an elephant one. He was so cool!! Here's the million dollar question.... did you take them home? I think with those I might have had to.:rolleyes1

Ya know, my kiddos think that going to WDW will never again be the same if you guys aren't there.:lmao: We should get working on that right away...:rotfl2:

Tell your DH thanks for the Snacks. He's a real trooper, putting up with our chatty hysteria.:laughing::laughing:

What a fun meeting! But Jodi, I have one question. Who are the actors playing your little kids? They are so grown up and tall from the last pics I saw! Those are 5 mighty cute kids there! It's so great how they love meeting up and get along so well. Sure makes it easier on the 2 moms, doesn't it? ;)

Looking forward to part II. :thumbsup2

Congratulaions on the new ticker Shelly! I just booked Beach Club for the end of April this week too! The spring room only offer is pretty good, huh?

We're just staying for three nights before checking into our offsite timeshare villa but I've already changed our reservation once & upgraded us to Club Level! We'll be there 4/19-4/22. Too bad we don't overlap!

Well, I have been thinking about this vacation for quite awhile. Almost booked it awhile back in-fact, but didn't. So when it was 6 months out I made ADR's for the week - just incase!! Thankfully! Thanks Teri! :goodvibes We've been twice in May too, but more towards the middle of the month. I'm hoping it's not too busy and hoping that with Easter being in early April the crowds will have dwindled by the end of the month. :wizard:

I'm not sure how we chose the BC! I've always wanted to stay there. We wanted to do the Poly again, but the discount there is only like 20% and there is just no way we can spend that kind of money on the room. I think the Poly will be more of a short trip place, or maybe a split stay again sometime. We really enjoyed staying in the BWI, so we thought why not try the YC or BC! Plus the BWI and the YC were sold out of standard rooms on the discount! So the BC looked even better! :lovestruc

Yeah, at this rate I will have to start the PTR before I even finish this TR! :upsidedow

They will miss 4 days of school. We don't have school that Friday - May 4. I hadn't planned to take them out of school this year with DS12 just starting middle school, but he is doing great. They are both on the honor roll so far this school year! So hopefully he can handle missing 4 days. If things change school/grade-wise, the trip will just be moved to the end of August again!

Are you going to start a separate PTR or just continue on with this one? Your toes can still be in the sand!!!

Hey Amy! :goodvibes Congrats on the BC CL!! :cool1:Too bad we will just miss each other. We will check in on April 28. The spring room only offer is awesome! :thumbsup2

Do you have an AP Shelly? Or do you want to get one? :rolleyes1 I just found out new AP rates came out today for spring & saved another 5% on our room reservation at BC. :cool1:

And speaking of ADRs... I have had really good luck moving things around this year. Just last week & over the weekend, I was able to move 'Ohana & Chef Mickey's and get 5:00 ADRs for both! I also got a 5:00 Fantasmic Dinner Package! I'm hoping that means it won't be too busy at the end of April! What are your plans on the 28th? We leave on the 29th. I think we'll be at Epcot in the morning of the 28th & either AK (until 7) or MK in the evening. Maybe we'll bump into each other?

Congrats on your May vacation! We love our May trips. It's a great time to go! And we love the BC! If you have any questions on the BC, please let me know!:goodvibes

Just found your TR through the May 2012 thread! Read the whole thing in an hour! We have only ever stayed in Value resorts so I'm convincing my family to take an evening to visit all the other resorts. We have ADRs for Ohana's one night, I'm very excited! Poly looks so gorgeous! We were going to have a split stay between Pop Century and CBR but it ended up costing too much. Can't wait to read the rest! :goodvibes

Welcome! :goodvibes Wow you're a fast reader!! I feel like this TR has gone on forever! :faint:

Definitely plan on some extra time before or after your Ohana dinner to relax & check out the Poly. :cloud9:

I hope it's nice and warm when we are there so we can spend lots of time at the pool! :goodvibes I may need to add on or change some ADR's now that I know where we are staying....

Hmm....I'm not sure. Probably start a new one I guess...But yeah, then I'll have to come up with another title. :scared1: IDK! You're right though -- my toes will still be in the sand. :cool1:

No, we don't have AP's. But maybe I should check into it. The last time I checked it looked like it wouldn't benefit us unless we were to take 3 trips within a year. And that's not going to happen. But I'll have to factor in the extra room savings too....

That's good to hear about the ADR's. I did cancel a few yesterday and add on a T-Rex and got the exact time I wanted, so that was a good sign. :thumbsup2

Our plan as of now is to go to MK on the 28th. Not sure what time, it will depend on our flight and all that. We usually go to Epcot on arrival day and never have good luck, all the FP's are gone by the time we get there. It would be great if we could work it out to meet up for a few minutes at least though....

It looks like you and Jodi had so much fun meeting up! And, it looks like the kids were having a great time! I love all of your pictures of the Poly- I cannot wait to get there!

I'm the only one with an AP... so you don't all have to get them. We find it works out for me to get one if it can cover two trips because we always stay off-site for some portion of our trips, so we get free parking. Plus we buy the Tables in Wonderland card to gret 20% off most of our dining. And don't forget 10% off all of your souvenirs. ;) No minimum like with the Disney Visa. There are also some lunches you can get 10% off with an AP... I know Teppan Edo offers that. So check out all of the benefits.

You definitely have to plan ahead & know when your next trip will be though.

Thanks Lisa. We usually fly AirTran. We used to fly SW, but their prices have gone way up in recent years. I guess it doesn't matter anymore since they are both owned by the same company. It looks like that special is only good on Mondays and Tuesdays and unfortunately we have to fly on the weekend in order to miss the least amount of school. :sad2:

The best I'm seeing for my dates are $139 with SW. :sad2: Flights out of PGH used to be about $59-$69 a few years ago. Now about the best I see is $89, so I'm holding out for that or close to it! :wizard:

We have a Friday and a Monday off in the middle of March, but let's face it -- that's still winter here! We have very few breaks during the schools year, but we get 12 full weeks off in the summer and don't start back until after Labor Day!

I should have guessed , you being the great trip planner that you are, that you would have made ADRs for your trip if you had dates picked even before booking the resort........Good Thinking :thumbsup2

Getting one AP for the room discounts is a good idea I want to try to talk DH into booking the BB when we are there and getting that Fall or Christmas trip finally but it is a toss up, maybe I should just update our tickets to AP's but then what if we don't end up going, it would be better to book the BB since if we need to change dates no money would be lost.
I am thinking it all depends on what resort you want to stay at, the new AP rates that just came out is 35% on Deluxe so it's a good deal on say the Poly or GF but CR was not included and it's only 5% more than the GP offer for YC/BC BWI

My head hurts everytime I try priceing it all out to see what is best.

Late April into May should be a great time to visit, I have only ever gone mid-April or late May.

Almost forgot I heard them talking about oil prices rising again and gas being $5 by May so not sure how low airfares will go down but I wish you luck. We had to pay $131 each way which was not bad, gone are the $99 fares they use to offer from my area to Orlando.

After we were done visiting with Jodi & her kids and they had headed back to the GF, our kids got in the pool. There still weren't any open tables/chairs by the pool, so DH & I just moved to a closer table in the Captain Cooks outside seating area. We could see a good part of the pool from there and the kids would come and check in every few minutres.

Unfortunately there wasn't too much to see behind those construction walls. But I will say that even though the construction walls were big & ugly, it wasn't near as bad as I was expecting after reading all the complaints about it here on the DIS before we left. There's not much they can do about trying to hide construction and I think they did a nice job with the palm trees and landscaping around it. It sure looked better than that mess at the MK!:scared1:

Up Next: More Poly fun!:cool1:

The only new restaurant this time is VN. The others are some of our favorites. Most of them are new for my parents so that will be fun! Do we have any the same?

Well if you had've kept walking you could have visited us at the pool at the GF! :)

I don't think the walls are that bad covering the construction either. However---- things sure have changed since we were there. I think there are a lot more walls up on the GF side that are blocking views of the water and Poly and such.

Great review of the other side of the Poly. :goodvibes I loved being over there when we stayed in Fiji. I thought it was a great location and I loved my view. And that beach that is closest to the GF side--- outside of Fiji--- it is NEVER crowded. I'd stay there again for sure. ::yes::

Can't wait for more...:woohoo:

It looks like the monorail track goes right over the construction walls. Can you see anything from the monorail?

It does, but I couldn't see anything going on when we were on the monorail. But then I think they were just getting started at that point.

Looked like a nice walk. I wish I could get my DH to do that. If I go for a walk, it's with me, myself and I lol.

I was a nice walk! :goodvibes HOT, but nice!

My DH isn't much for walks at home, but he's always up for it at the WDW resorts!

Hey Shelly~ love to hear about your ADRs
here are mine:
Rose & Crown (to watch illuminations- did this last yr. it was awesome!! My mom loves Illuminations so this is a surprise for her :yay:)Dh's

Via Napoli ( know you didn't have a good exp. here but we have been saying for years we were trying it)

Garden Grill (we need a character dinner fix and the food is great!)

Cali Grill ( another surprise for my parents- they've never been here. We'll watch Wishes that night)

Sci-Fi ( My boys' fave! Parents will  the atmosphere)

Flying Fish (DH's new fave!!)

Le Chefs ( We all  Remy)

I will probably save my ADR's for the PTR, but I will tell you that we have NONE of the same ADR's at this point! :upsidedow

Believe me, the kids were like -- can we go surprise them? Come on, call Jodi!! I'm calling Drew right now!! :hyper: But I had to tell them that we just saw you and we were going to see you again after dinner!

Yeah, I didn't think it was near as bad as people were making it out to be. Maybe it is now, but it wasn't really then.

I think any side of the Poly is wonderful!! :cloud9:

You are right - there was no one on that beach outside of Figi!!

I am very jealous over your Dole Whip access! :snooty: I've always had to go to Adventureland to get mine!

I agree. The construction stuff doesn't really bother me. I think WDW does an awesome job of disguising that sort of stuff.

I may have already missed this by skipping some of the chit chat, but what discount did you use for your May trip? Was that the 'fake' trip that you booked?

Okay, I am back and aaalll caught up! I haven't posted here since I left for vaca in Nov!!! Super busy and more computer trouble..then it unsubscribed me after it was in the shop again!!!! ANY way...Jodi,..so sorry to hear about Marks Gma and the awful bday week you had...but
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! :bday::cake:all the way from Texas!!! Sorry I wasn't here and missed it,but at least we can drag it out a week, right?
On our Nov trip we walked to the GF and didn't mind the walls at all,..DH had to walk over there to work out, no gym at the Poly. It was a great trip, we were in the Tokelau building, 3rd floor, about 3 rooms down from the end of the building on the MK end...we could watch fireworks from there...we did get great Towel Animals there too!! The best ones are here I think.
My ds12 is a Lego freak too--maybe I should take him there in May for his Bday?! Heads up on travel there from Disney..my bf and her family just went in Dec...they rented the car---came back at dark time and almost NEVER found there way back!! She said it was awful!! If I go, I am just footing the bill for the Taxi.. I am NOT driving around and getting all frustrated!! We did take a taxi to Celebration one year. It is a great place to see...so, you may wanna consider just forking over the money and not having any hassle with driving.
I am so excited for you to get to go back in May!!! I had already looked at going the same week you are!! but dd's dance recital got moved to the 8th of May, and the 2 weekends before are all dance practices!! her bday is 4/4 and ds12 is5/10, so that week or the week before is in the middle for both of them...would sure love to surprise them with it!!! Will see...that promo sure looks good!!!!!
Ok...back to the TR!!!

The construction between the Poly & the GF really didn't bother me. Now that mess at MK is an eyesore. Hopefully it will all be worth it in the end!:thumbsup2

There's a Spring Room Only discount out for mid April thru mid June. That is what I used. I think it is 30% off the BC! :cool1: Yes, I guess this is that fake May trip that I had planned months ago in my head!!

Welcome back Shawna! :goodvibes

So glad you enjoyed the Poly. I think next time I would request Tokelau since we probably wouldn't do CL again. So how did you like the room this time? Sounds like you had an awesome view! And the million dollar question -- which do you like better - Poly or BC???

I don't think we could afford a taxi ride for 40 miles each way. :scared1: We were charged $20 to go from CBR to the Poly. :sad2: We can rent a car for the entire day for $40!! Hopefully we won't get lost. It looks like a pretty easy drive. Guess we should take our GPS or rent one though just in-case!

I think I want to drive thru Celebration on the way back too! Hopefully it won't be dark.

Too bad you couldn't work it out to go that week. That would be perfect - right in-between their birthdays! Maybe something will work out. :wizard:

I have rented a car on every trip I have taken to FL and it has been no problem. First time there, I drove from Orlando to Ft. Myers, about 160 miles, it was easy. Drove from Ft. Lauderdale, through the Everglades to Ft. Myers too. Sure, it is possible you can get a little lost because you are in a unfamiliar area, but there are a lot of signs and if you have a second set of eyes to help you even better. Plus renting a car gives you a lot of extra freedom to explore around, check out other place to visit and eat. I highly recommend it! It is so easy to get a rental MCO!

Do you (or anyone else) know of somewhere good to eat offsite, not too far from WDW? I am thinking we should take advantage of the car and have dinner offsite that evening on the way back. Could be in Celebration too....Nothing too fancy though, we will have been at LL all day and not in nicer clothes.

My boys always beg us to eat at Longhorn Steakhouse. We don't have one out here in Cali and they love the appetizers and sandwiches there and they never leave anything behind. My wife and I like the steaks - not really expensive, but not cheap either. It is moderate place, go ahead and you can
wear your shorts there too.

I think this one is the closest to WDW - 5351 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, (192), Kissimmee, FL 34746. Been there three or four times. It is right next door to Orange World, the big orange building.

well..the Poly is as close to Hawaii as I will ever get I am sure!! LOL!! If I am gonna be on a plane for that long, I am goin' to Europe!!!!It's very relaxing, convenient to both Epcot and MK., and the rooms are very big..the kids would pick Poly hands down every time. Mikes fave is def the BC..he HATES the decor in the Poly rooms,..I am not fond of all that dark stuff either, but it is depicting a true Hawaiin feel!! I love it for what it is, but my fave would be the BC or the Cont...BC is my fave for convenience to the other parks, and Cont is my fave for conv. to MK...I swear, I would stay anywhere if I could just be there!:rotfl:
I think you are gonna really love the BC--but for totally diff reasons than why you love the Poly...I think the kids like the SAB area better too...it doesn't get as crowded.

Very much enjoyed looking at the pictures in your latest update, I could look at the Poly beach forever but then growing up on the coast the beach has always been a love of mine.

The pic of our youngest DS peeping under the wall was precious. We have only driven to US and Sea World, NASA we used a Mears? trip van as we had no car and it was our first trip so we did not want to rent one either but We have always found the signing in the Orlando area sufficient or worst time was one year we could not find our way out of the US parking lot :rotfl:

As far as a taxi , I read on one of the threads about a woman who lost her cc and had to go into Orlando to withdraw $ to pay her resort bill and it cost her $120 RT I think I would rent a car before taking a taxi to LL too

Well that sounds good right about now, but we do have those here!

I was looking at the Celebration Town Tavern that Sheree mentioned. Might try it, if we decide to head in the direction of Celebration.

We all really loved the Poly. :goodvibes In-fact when I asked the kids where they wanted to stay this time they both answered the Poly. :upsidedow And as much as I would like to stay there again, the price is just too high. So we may not get back there again unless they offer a better discount and/or we are doing a shorter trip or a split stay with a cheaper resort too.

So off to the BC we go!! I hope we will love it. :wizard: I can't imagine we wouldn't love it. We have loved most of the WDW resorts we have stayed at! I'm just afraid nothing will compare to the Poly. But like you said -- I think we will love it for different reasons than we loved the Poly. I am always up for a "different feel" to each vacation, keeps things new and exciting! :cool1: We already know we loved the feel of the area when we stayed at the BWI, so I'm sure we will be fine. I'm just concerned we won't get our requests of the extra couch/daybed and a full balcony. :scared:

I will tell DH when he gets home! He still asks about you guys all the time. :goodvibes

After our long walk to the GF and back we were all a little tired, hot, and sweaty. So we went back to the room to get showers and rested up. We had no real dinner plans, so we decided that it was time we checked out the evening offerings at the CL lounge. After-all this was our third night there and we had been out at the parks the last 2 evenings!

We got there right when they started the 4-6pm evening offerings. Big mistake! :scared1: It was so crowded in there. Up to this point we hadn't had to wait for anything there. This time there was a big line! Once we got through the line we did manage to find a seat, but there weren't too many to be found.

The Torch Lighting Ceremony was very cool!! The kids just loved it. We were all very impressed!

Afterwards we were trying to decide what to do with the rest of the evening. Jodi & family were having dinner at Ohana later and we were meeting with them after they were done, but that wasn't going to be for awhile.

We weren't hungry enough to go anywhere for dinner. I guess between all the huge meals we had all week and the snacks in the lounge that evening we were getting kind of tired of eating. If that is possible!! The kids didn't want anything. DH and I popped into the lounge before heading back to the room and it was pretty much cleared out. People I mean, not food! So we grabbed a few little things and he got a beer and we headed back to the room and decided to enjoy a little quiet time on our balcony while the kids were inside watching TV and playing video games!

It looks like a great selection in the CL - even if you had to wait in line for it! But that's what you almost have to expect anywhere in Disney - lines. I could definitely make a meal out of all that food. I consider that way more than just snacks!

I bet it was so relaxing to just sit and relax on your balcony. :goodvibes That's something you really can't do unless you stay in a deluxe resort, so I know it will be hard for you to go back. ;) If you do the parks commando style and never relax, then I guess it doesn't matter. But for your family, I vote deluxe from now on!

The torch lighting ceremony was so neat! Another thing I never knew about. Of course, I've never stayed at the Poly, so I guess that's no big surprise! I guess they do that every evening?

The guy who did the torch lighting is the fire dancer from the luau. I remember him well! He was so funny - he would do something cool and then grin and look at us as if to say, "how was that? Show me some love!"

I love that you guys took it easy, enjoyed the resort and got to relax some. Especially since it was hot.

Do you usually get park hoppers? I haven't been paying super close attention to whether you've been to more than one park per day.

The torch lighting ceremony was so neat! Another thing I never knew about. Of course, I've never stayed at the Poly, so I guess that's no big surprise! I guess they do that every evening?

So up next is your quiet, peaceful beach evening?

It was a pretty good selection in the evenings. We filled up on it!

It was so nice to not have anywhere to go that evening. I know some people think it is a waste of precious vacation time to just sit around the resort, but to us that is vacation. :cloud9: I'll tell DH that you vote deluxe for us from now on!! :thumbsup2:rotfl:

The torch lighting ceremony was very cool! :cool1: I can't remember if it is every night or not. I'm thinking it was like 4 nights a week or something like that...

He is very good at what he does. Very impressive!! :thumbsup2 DS12 kept saying - how does he do that and not get burned??? :rotfl:

Nope, we never get park hoppers. We had them a few times many years ago when they came free with our package and we never used them, so I'd never pay for them. We just aren't a park hoppin' kind of family I guess! :upsidedow

I wonder if Torch Dude feels funny about walking around with no shirt on while everyone else is clothed???
I'm sure that lots of ladies are happy he is half nekk....
ahem.
Never mind.

:rotfl2:

Glad your early evening was so relaxing. Cause once we hit the beach it was all over.:dance3::dance3::dance3:

I'd pay a bazillion dollars to go back to that day....:cloud9:

Your CL offerings that night looked good. Except for the meatball thing that was as big as my head. Holy cow. Literally!
You should have had dinner with US that nite.;)

Great update! Can't wait to see what happens next!:rotfl:

I think Torch Dude is used to being half naked and all the women staring at him!! ::yes::

Well once we hit the beach - even before you got there - the kids went wild. Too much excitement knowing that their new BFF's were coming soon!! :hyper2: :yay::yay:

The CL offerings were pretty good that evening. But yeah, those meatballs looked kind of gross. DH liked them though!

The fire twirling guy at the torch lighting ceremony performs at the luau. He is amazing!

We should have went to the luau!!! I thought it might be too hot and we wouldn't enjoy it, but now I think we would have!

The fresh fruits and veggies look so yummy at the CL lounge! It seems funny to me that you guys had time to just relax and rest at the hotel - most TR's are GO GO GO GO GO the WHOLE week, but you guys (maybe cause your trip was more than 7 nights) really had quite a bit of down time, and I like that. :)

Finally catching up on your TR. The last I had read was the day you switched over to Poly. I love all the pics around Poly. It really is a pretty resort.
I love the water parade. That has been there forever. I remember watching it from the beach at Ft. Wilderness when I was a kid. The music is still the same. I don't know what music is played during the King Neptune part but they play "You're a Grand Old Flag" during the flag part.
As for Legoland, your boys should love it. We took our boys to the one in California back in 2002 and it is such a cute place. They were 7 and 12 at that time. The 12 year old was the huge lego fan so even though he was older at the time, he loved it. I kinda miss stepping on all those Legos - my babies are now 16 and 21:sad1:

It was still daylight when we got down to the Poly beach. The kids enjoyed playing in the sand while waiting for Jodi & family to arrive. They were setting up the movie & campfire stuff down the beach closer to the marina. DH and I enjoyed sitting there watching day turn into night. :cloud9: The beach was starting to get a little crowded and I was worried we were going to have to start fighting people off for the chairs we were saving! But pretty soon Jodi & family arrived! The kids ran off to play and we enjoyed our time visiting and talking about our trips so far.

After Wishes Jodi and family headed back to the GF. They had to get up early to head out to the Florida Gators game the next morning!

We stopped into the lounge and grabbed some snacks before heading back to the room.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2013/665af9d3.jpg

Jodi had given the kids some goody bags when we met up and the kids were finally getting to open them. It was like Christmas morning!!

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2013/864ae979.jpg

Lots of goodies in there!!:cool1:

DS12 wanted some more snacks, so him and I walked back to the lounge before they closed for the night. When we got back to the room this is what we found!!

DH & DS10 had gotten into the robes!

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2013/181bd7bb.jpg

DS10 looked so hilarious!!:rotfl2:

So pretty soon DS12 thought this would make a good picture to send to his friends.

He labeled it – "The Party King"!! Keep in mind this is the kid who doesn't even like pop. I think he enjoyed being able to get it for “free” and opening it and taking a few sips and then letting it sit there.

And with that, the Party King and the rest of us went to bed, dreaming of what our last full day at Disney would bring us tomorrow. :cloud9:

Well the EWP is always at 9pm. So on some nights it is same time as Wishes, but other times when Wishes is later then it is long done before Wishes starts. If your DH hates the Wishes crowds in the park then watching it from the Poly would be great for you guys. :thumbsup2

You are right -- at the park the castle doesn't look that much smaller than the fireworks, but from the Poly it sure does. Weird!

It was a great evening for all of us!! :cool1:

Oh I do love that Poly beach! Looks like you had a great time that night! I love watching the fireworks from there. The finale looks so good from a distance like that.

Ok, that robe picture is TOO funny! :lmao: Oh my gosh! Your DS is just drowning in that thing and he has that grin that looks like the cat who caught the canary! :rotfl2: I love it!

The Poly beach is wonderful. :lovestruc I could live there!!

I know, he looked so dang funny in that thing!! :lmao:

Loved that update!!! The "Party King" looks like Elvis in that picture! LOL!! All those kids are soo stinkin' cute!!!

Thanks Shawna! :goodvibes

Awwww.....I don't want your TR to end! (If I get this emotional for YOUR trip, what am I going to be like when MY OWN trip ends?!?)

It really stinks when trips and TR's end!!

What a magical and fun evening y'all had! It reminds me of when we go to the beach on vacation. I absolutely love spending evenings outside on the beach under the moonlight. :goodvibes And that's without seeing fireworks over the castle or the EWP! The kids are obviously having the time of their lives! Great pics of all of y'all. :thumbsup2

Your boys are too funny! The pic of your DH and DS10 in the robes made me laugh so much. And the Party King! :rotfl2: I bet there's never a dull moment in your house. ;)

So sad that your last day is coming up! :sad2:

It was magical and very fun!! :cool1: Doesn't get much better than that!

The kids were having a blast! :yay:

Nope, not too many dull moments around here. It's usually a 3 ring circus! :upsidedow

Lots to report on from the last day coming up! :thumbsup2
Woohoo!!! I love trip reports

Welcome!:)

Great update !!

Love the robe's and "Party King" pictures .. too funny !! :lmao:

Watching Wishes from the beach looks so cool ! (although I too would find the EWP going through st the same time distracting)

Your last day is coming up ?? Waah :sad1:

Glad you enjoyed the update!

Yep, one more full day to report on and then the final morning. Still lots of updates and pics though!! :goodvibes

I don't think I'm ready for your TR to end! :)

I'm not ready either!

I will only allow you to end this TR if you are doing a PTR for your May trip.
:snooty:

Well once I finish this one I'll start to think about the next one!!

Day 9 – Saturday September 3:

Our last full day at Disney wasn't off to a great start when we found this had been put under the door –

The Envelope of Doom!!:scared1:

After we got over that initial shock we started to talk about our day and what would be best to do with it..... We had already been to each park twice, other than AK just once. We wanted to take full advantage of the monorail, so it was either MK or Epcot! And should we go this morning or later this evening???

Well we decided on MK!! Surprising, because normally we would choose Epcot over MK. I guess being able to see MK from our resort really put us in a MK mood this trip!

So we got ready and headed to the lounge for a quick breakfast. DH was grumping a bit since he had to hurry through his breakfast, but I told him we had taken this entire trip at a very slow pace and I wanted to get to MK by RD. So we got done and hoped on the monorail and were there just before the opening show!

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2013/16ae23f7.jpg

And with that we were off to Let the Memories Begin!

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/Disneyfamilyfour/Disney%20Aug-Sept%202011%20Part%2013/7d2df6a3.jpg

Since we had already been to MK twice and pretty much done everything we wanted to there, we had no real plan. We were just going to go with the flow today and see where the day took us!

So up Main Street we headed.

And we found ourselves in Tomorrowland! First up was Buzzlightyear.

I had planned to do Carousel of Progress next since we had not done it since our very first trip in 2005. But, as we were coming to the end of our TTA ride we noticed some very cool characters in Tomorrowland with very short lines!!

So we ran right over! :cool1:

Oh no- the envelope of doom! I always hate seeing that.:headache:
It looks like it was a great beginning of the morning! I love that family picture with Chip and Dale.
I am so excited- tomorrow we are adding at least one (possibly two) nights on to our Poly vacation. We will no longer be going to Marco Island, as DH's parents who live there are not going to be around. It works for me- more time in WDW!:cool1:

Dontcha just loooove the TTA? that's one of my favorite things!

You do look just lovely in your dress - all of them have been so cute! I'm guessing they helped you keep cool and comfy!

TTA People Mover is so fun - I love the views from up there!

The family shot with Chip and Dale is a good one!
