Our introduction begins in a land far, far away (Michigan is pretty far from some states :confused3).

Once upon a time there was a Princess. Now this Princess earned her crown through entering beauty pageants and in 2010 it was time for her to pass that crown onto another princess. Well that year they had two handsome princes to escort the ladies to the stage. One of these princes caught the Princess's eye and she knew she had to talk to him. This Princess isn't very brave so it took some encouragement from the Queen to get her to go over to him. She proceeded to thank him for helping escort the ladies and in a sly move gave him her number during a handshake :thumbsup2 The Princess had caught the Prince's eye as well so as soon as he was back to his coach in the parking lot he called her. It turns out our Princess did not have good handwriting and gave him the wrong number. For a year, the Prince tried everything he could think of to get in contact with her. Calling the number and looking through the Book of Faces and nothing worked. The 2011 pageant came around and the rules had been changed to allow past princesses to try for the crown again. Our Princess entered and on the night of the pageant saw the Prince. Needless to say the Princess was quite upset that the Prince never called her and assumed he was either a jester or taken. The Prince was also upset believing the Princess may be the type to play games. During the pageant the Prince tried to talk to her but it was not an opportune time. Afterwards, he pulled her aside.
"Do you remember me?" asked the Prince.
Now the Princess being quite upset wasn't sure how to answer this. "I don't know maybe."
"Yes you do. You gave me your number last year and you gave me the wrong one."
The Princess was mortified and proceeded to give him the right number and straighten things out. Well that night they met at a party the King and Queen were throwing to celebrate the pageant. That night they kissed and in the weeks to follow fell in love.

Now you may be wondering what this has to do with our trip. The Queen and Princess were planning a trip to a Magical Kingdom at the end of the long summer. While they were planning and talking about all of the fun they would be having the Prince mentioned he had never been. Well you certainly cannot leave someone out of a trip to the Magical Kingdom if they have never been! So the Princess and Queen decided they would allow the King and Prince to come as well.

Prince aka PrinceofItaly aka Josh- Josh was our newbie on this trip! He is in the Air Force and works in their recruiting department handling most of the paperwork. He is 26 but a kid at heart! He is hilarious and kept us laughing on our trip. Also he was one of the photographers on this trip and took some pretty interesting pictures :rolleyes1

Princess aka PrincessCaitlin aka Me- I am 20 years old and in my 4th year of college at Eastern Michigan University. I am majoring in Communications with a double minor in electronic media and political science. Now for those of you who have read past trip reports my career path is constantly changing! Right now I am planning on getting a Master's Degree in Political Science and being a Political Science Professor.

King aka Toystorymaniac aka Dad- The man who works so we can feed our Disney addiction :thumbsup2 He is amazing and supportive and hilarious. One of our major events this trip couldn't have happened without him and I am truly grateful for all of the things he does for our family :hug:

We were at the World from August 29-September 3rd and stayed at Pop Century and All Star Music. We all had 4 day park hoppers and Josh and I had the Water Park and more option.

Hi Everybody!! For those of you who are new readers let me introduce myself. I'm Dawn, Caitlin's mom and co-author. In her intro she forgot to explain that we tag team our TRs. In other words, we take turns telling about our adventures. Now that we have that out of the way, let's get this started.......

Our travel day began REALLY early on Monday,August 29th. How early? How about 4:30am? :eek: Yep, thats what time Caitlin woke up and then woke us up. The problem was that our flight wasn't for another 7 hours! So we talked about our excitement and our plans for the day. Our flight was supposed to arrive at MCO at 2pm so we figured after we picked up our rental car and stopped by Pop to checkin and get our parking pass that we could be at Hollywood Studios by 4pm. It was pm EMH at DHS so we would have 9hours of fun before the park closed at 1am. Sounds like a good plan, huh? Well as you will see our day didn't go quite as planned.

Around 7am everyone else hit the gym while I stayed home and spent time on Facebook and the Dis. Now normally we go to the gym together but really, we were ON VACATION!

When they got home we left about 9am and headed to a local diner for breakfast. (you can't travel on an empty stomach!) We left the diner at 9:55, it took a really long time for us to be served, and our car was parked and we were through security,and seated in our terminal, by 10:20. (it's convenient to live near an airport :thumbsup2)

While we were sitting and waiting patiently, Josh looked over at Caitlin and noticed a hole in her dress. Her brand new dress. Her brand new dress that she had never worn :headache: Under closer examination we discovered it wasn't a hole. Rather, the seam had not been completely sewn and there was about a 6inch part that needed to be finished. Her dad being the ever resourceful guy he is, set off to find a sewing kit. The first 3 stores he visited told him "it's against the law" to sell needles in an airport. At the 4th store he found a sewing kit and returned to fix Caitlin's dress.

As Dale was finishing sewing the airline announced that the plane was going to start boarding. I took this as my cue to visit the girl's room. As I was walking back from the restroom I passed Caitlin running toward it. When I got back to our seats Josh and Dale told me that since she was seated while he was sewing, the dress had gotten all bunched up and she was going to the bathroom to change. She returned empty handed though :confused3 When asked where her dress was she said "I threw it away". She thought it was wrecked and didn't realize the stitches could be taken out and re-done. Good thing Forever 21 has cheap prices :laughing:


After the clothing fiasco we boarded the plane, eager to be Disney bound! Since Caitlin and I had booked our trip months before the boys were added on we were seated together and the fellas were several rows away from us.

At 11:17 (our flight was due to take off at 11:22) the pilot came on the loud speaker and made this announcement....."ladies and gentlemen, we have a small fuel leak from the left wing and we have to wait for maintenance to determine how long it will be before we can take off". Hmmmm....a fuel leak? My reaction was something like this :scared1: I know nothing about planes but this sounded kind of serious to me but I tried to stay calm.

Ten minutes later the pilot was back. This time he announced that the workers were still working on the plane trying to determine how much "cork" was needed to plug the hole and it could be another 20-30 minutes. CORK?!!
REALLY?!! At this point I was starting to panic.

Twenty minutes passed. This time the pilot announced that more time was still needed and anyone who wished to "de-plane" could do so as long as they were back in half an hour. Caitlin and I were among the first off the plane. We went up to the service counter and asked if we could change our flights as we were starting to think this plane was bad news. The Air Tran rep told us we could change both our flights without penalty. This was good news to us but we had to clear it with our guys. I got back on the plane to talk to them while Caitlin just observed the goings on (among the things she learned was that they were estimating at least an hour before we'd depart)

When I asked the guys they were like "we're here, we're going today" UGH MEN! :mad: Josh insisted that the issue wasn't serious and since he used to repair USAF planes we should trust him. I went back to Caitlin and told her the guys wouldn't switch so we asked if we could just delay our return flight since we were losing precious hours. They said "no" if we left on the plane they wouldn't allow any changes. GRRR! Our magical journey was not starting out on the right foot!

We re-boarded and at 1:15 (almost exactly 2 hours late) our plane took off. The flight was very turbulent and between the bumpy ride and the fuel leak, Caitlin spent most of the flight having a panic attack :sad2:

Our flight made really good time though and we landed at MCO at 3:10. When we got off the plane Dale and Josh said they were going to talk to Air Tran and see what they would do for us regarding the delay. Well our gentlemen are very charming (when they choose to be :rotfl:) and as soon as they began explaining how Josh is in the military the Air Tran Supervisor told his workers to "give them whatever they want". So we got our flight home changed from Friday to Saturday! We were getting another night in Disney World :yay: (adding an extra night wouldn't be hard, would it?)

So we left Air Tran very satisfied and headed down to the car rental area. I had gotten a great deal online (68$ for M-F) but when we got to the check-in area the line was huge! Like big enough to make me consider skipping the car! Then we noticed there was a maching where you could check-in that everyone seemed to be overlooking. We used the machine and within minutes had added an extra day to the rental (20$ more) and we were headed to the parking garage. By 4pm we were in our car, a cute little red HHR, and headed toward Disney!! It was raining out but we were in Disney so there was no way a little rain was going to dampen our spirits!

We decided that since we now had an extra day but only 4 day tickets (that weren't able to be upgraded) we would skip going to a park that day and instead we headed to Downtown Disney. We were all starving so dinner and shopping sounded like a great idea!

The first 3 stores he visited told him "it's against the law" to sell needles in an airport. At the 4th store he found a sewing kit and returned to fix Caitlin's dress.

Ten minutes later the pilot was back. This time he announced that the workers were still working on the plane trying to determine how much "cork" was needed to plug the hole and it could be another 20-30 minutes. CORK?!!
REALLY?!! At this point I was starting to panic.

I think the pilot was kidding about that.

When I asked the guys they were like "we're here, we're going today" UGH MEN! :mad:

Yeah, we're funny that way. ;)

Well our gentlemen are very charming (when they choose to be :rotfl:)

and as soon as they began explaining how Josh is in the military the Air Tran Supervisor told his workers to "give them whatever they want". So we got our flight home changed from Friday to Saturday! We were getting another night in Disney World :yay: (adding an extra night wouldn't be hard, would it?)

It was but you're right it did end happy.

Josh's first meal was supposed to be at SciFi but since we didn't go to DHS he didn't get to eat there but we chose an old favorite at DTD.

Thank you! By the time our flight finally took off I had vowed to never use Air Tran again but my opinion changed when they were so nice to us in Orlando :)

We had a great time at DTD and it was a nice way to ease Josh into the whole Disney experience :)

I didn't get in trouble for taking pictures but I realized afterwards there was a sign about it!


It was a great night! I knew it would be mine and Josh's only chance to check it out so I wanted us to see it all! I am very happy we got the extra day but I am pretty terrified of flying now!

It just depends on what you order. I am sorry you didn't have a great experience though! The mashed potatoes are great and so is the margerita pizza!

Hi Everyone! Time for another update!

Caitlin and I were the first ones up and ready to go for our first full day at Walt Disney World!! :banana::banana: Where would we be headed on that day? Where else do you take a newbie for their first park? The Magic Kingdom of course! Not only were we headed to the MK but we had a very special breakfast adr! We had arranged an adr at Cinderella's Royal Table! This had been a bit of a surprise for Caitlin and she didn't know about this particular adr until a couple days before our trip. We were all looking forward to this breakfast! Dale hadn't been to the castle since Caitlin was 5 so he was looking forward to it and Caitlin and I hadn't been since our "girls only" trip with grandma in 2008. As for Josh, well his reactions was "There's a restaurant in there?!" :laughing:

I had hoped to leave the room around 8:00am for our 9:00am adr but the guys were sort of dragging that morning. We ended up not getting out of the room until around 8:15. Then we had the long walk to the parking lot. Now if you read our last TR I was all about the preferred room at All Star Sports. However at Pop our preferred room was a waste of money. We were on the 4th floor and nowhere near the parking lot so it took us a long time to get to and from the car everyday. Oh well, live and learn right?

You know Caitlin well enough to know that as we walked from the room to the car she was busy snapping pictures.....

When we got to the MK we noticed right away that it was getting decorated for fall

By the time we got through security it was about 8:50 so the front area was really crowded as we tried to make our way into the park for our adr. When we got into the park, we split up. Caitlin and Josh headed to guest relations to see if he could volunteer for the flag ceremony while Dale and I headed to the castle to check-in for our very special breakfast.

While they waited for the CM in charge of the flag ceremony, Caitlin took pictures of well.....pictures :laughing:

When we got to CRT we checked in but of course we had to wait for the rest of our party before we could be seated. The hostesses were very sweet and gracious though so we just sat and watched all the costumed little princesses arrive for breakfast. I was getting teary eyed thinking of how quickly my little princess grew up.

Meanwhile, Josh and Caitlin took their time making their way to the castle and of course took time to take some pictures....

After about 10minutes I got a text from Caitlin saying they got the flag ceremony!! Dale and I were so excited! We have always been a very patriotic family, and we love the flag ceremony, so having a member of our family participate would be truly magical! I knew it was going to be an emotional day for me!

Soon they arrived and while we waited for our table they told us about the nice CMs and the details of the flag ceremony etc.

Soon it was time to be taken to our table. The hostess told Caitlin that the Cinderella picture would be taken after we ate since they were running behind.

The first princess to visit us was Snow White. Josh looked very nervous when she grabbed his arm and it took him a bit to get comfortable with the princess pics experience :laughing:

...our first full day at Walt Disney World!! Where would we be headed on that day? Where else do you take a newbie for their first park? The Magic Kingdom of course!

I completely understand! Having a car simplifies everything, especially since we usually take a cab to early adrs. I always like to get a car but Dale commutes to work an hour each way so he likes to let someone else drive on vacation. We solved the issue by just letting Josh do all the driving :laughing:

The flag ceremony is held at 5pm everyday and a "veteran of the day" is chosen to assist. The veteran can be currently enlisted or a past member of the military from the United States or another country.

With 2 boys and 1 girl in our crew, we usually hear lots of groans when we talk of Princess Meals so we'll see how it goes...

The rocks on the tray are representative of my favorite animals mating ritual. Penguins give each other rocks and if one penguin accepts they are together for life! So in this case I had five rocks the ones on the plate and the one in the ring :lovestruc Also the glass slipper has our names engraved in it with the date and love, integrity, trust and faith because those are the things Josh promises me :hug:

I knew that he was going to propose this trip but I had no idea when or where and I know it might be a little bit soon for us to get engaged so let's look at some fuzzy Disney math. All of the great Disney couples didn't know each other for very long. Cinderella danced once with her Prince took off and made him search for her and after she was found got married. Ariel fell in love with Eric while he was unconscious and hung out with him for a few days then got married. Aurora met her Prince once, fell asleep and when she woke up got married. Then my favorite couple Belle and Beast is probably the worst sort of meeting up. Beast took Belle hostage which is probably domestic abuse and then they got married. Long story short all of the Disney couples lasted forever without knowing each other very long :thumbsup2 Mickey and Minnie have been together forever and aren't married. I am thinking Minnie won't sign a pre-nup :sad2:

Anyway there I was sitting in Cinderella's Castle looking at this beautiful ring! We had our own Photopass person and while Josh got on one knee he was busy snapping away.

Josh said to me "You make me the happiest I have ever been. Would you make me the happiest man alive and be my wife?"

So then I said no and everyone in the restaurant looked super embarassed and our vacation ended there :laughing: JK

I of course said "YES!!!!!!!!!!!!" The whole restaurant erupted in applause and it was marvelous!

After a bit the initial shock had worn off and I realized I am in Disney with my fiance who has never been here before and we are wasting precious park time!

Josh and I headed down to see Cinderella

Donovan came over and gave us our booklet. Now for those of you familiar with CRT you get a package with a picture of the Castle, a picture of your family and Cinderella then 5x7s of your family and Cinderella. Well ours was special!

We had this picture of the glass slipper instead of the Castle

We thanked him profusely and after he left our waitress came back with free champagne flutes from CRT :woohoo: Yes we will be using these as our wedding toast champagne flutes :lovestruc
