View Full Version : Wake Up Call vs. Alarm Clock?

Do I need to bring an alarm clock, or do the resort rooms have one by the bedside?

I tend to take for granted that they would. Although this seems a silly question, I've never seen it addressed. Even the most basic hotel rooms that I've stayed in had one. There is plenty of discussion on the boards about Wake Up calls, but the resort pages at www.wdwig.com and even tikiman's great Polynesian pages (Thanks Steve!) make no mention of this basic amenity.

All the Disney resorts we have stayed in have had alarm clocks. We've never used them, though. It's too much fun to have Mickey call and wake you up in the mornings!

When we stayed at the BC, I set the alarm clock (well, atleast I thought I did) and it never went off. I had no idea how the thing worked, so I did get us a wake up call as well so we wouldn't be late for the airport. My alarm clock here at home is so easy to use, but that one was just so difficult to use (it even said alarm set and the time was correct in it - but like I said, it never went off).

I set the alarm clock (all rooms have one) and arrange a wake-up call. I do this to make sure that if one doesn't work out, the other is a back-up.

Great question! Today was "packing day" (yippee!) at our house and I had just written myself a note to not forget our travel alarm clock. Thanks for posting, Lady Cluck!

Actually I often set the alarm just so that I'll be ready for when Mickey calls!

I agree with Cali, the alarm clocks in the room are difficult to use. I was glad I had packed my travel one as a backup. I never could get their silly alarm to work. I always bring my travel one, it's loud enough to wake me but not as loud as my one at home or the phone ringing. I always get up before everyone else and don't want to disturb them. I wait till later and let Mickey wake up my DD's.:D

We have stayed at All Star Music, Sports, Movies, CBR, CSR, POFQ, PORS, Contemporay, Poly, and the Swan and all have had alarm clocks. We always do the wakeup call though for our kids.

We avoid the use of alarm clocks or wake up calls unless we need to make an early character breaky. After all, we ARE on vacation!;)

I use the wake-up call while at WDW resorts. They are automated and I have found them to be always correct. If I take a nap for an hour or so, the wake-up call service works great. If you want to cancel or change the times, it is simple to do.

Go for the wakup call and forget the alarm clock. You won't be sorry!

 We leave a wake up call just to hear the day start off right with a Disney voice and a cheerful good morning.
