Friends, Wishes & Treats Oct WDW Trip ~ ~Aloha! HI cruise TR is complete!

Hello all!


My DD Megan and I are going back to WDW much earlier than we ever thought!

After our trip in March for Megan's birthday and dream trip (TR at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2676868)
the opportunity to return in October was just too great to not take.

We have met a very wonderful family here on the DIS - DIS Name "blessedmom4" Judy, her DH Pete, kid's Christian, David, Rachel and a special little princess....Lisa! (their PTR - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2572447) if you want to meet this wonderful family, please take a look...even with all their challenges they meet each day with smiles, love and support for others!

Little Princess Lisa is going on her MAW trip in October and we have become "family" over the past few months....Judy and I are even "Aunties" now and Pete "Uncle" to our kids and we are lucky enough to be a small part of their trip!

We will be attending MNSSHP on October 18 together, a visit to them at GKTW (GiveKidsTheWorld) and a big night at Houes of Blues 10/14!
Rachel, who is a beautiful guitar player is going to be the opening act that night along with her dad in the restaurant at 8 pm....along with Lisa going on her MAW trip and Rachel's opportunity to play at the HOB, I knew in my heart we had to be a small part of their trip.

When Lisa made her "wish" with her wish granters....the first one was to go to WDW and her second one was to meet Megan and I....so helping to make that wish come true brings so much joy to my heart :love:

This trip for Megan and I is totally different from our spring trip, we are staying at POFQ ....ssh, surprising Megan with it....doing QS and plan on winging our days, no set plans except for MNSSHP, HOB and a carriage ride at POFQ on Sunday with some other friends from DIS...we have a few other DIS friends who will be there at the same time we hope to meet up with.
For the planner in me, this had been a strange thing for me not to plan each day out ahead of time....our first day which ever bus is there when we get to the stop is where we will go for the day!

eat at Earl of Sandwich at DTD, SO YUMMY, we missed it in April, so definate on this trip!

think we are going to head over to Epcot resorts more this time to check them out...maybe lunch at beaches & cream

Got a little bit of Mickey Mail today! Our MNSSHP tickets came :banana:....a little sad though, one has Mickey; the other Goofy and say "let the memories begin", no halloween decorations...what the heck :confused3 not a fun souvenior of the party!

can't wait for the beignets...that was our favorite thing to do on weekend mornings when we lived in New Orleans...we took the little ferry boat across the Mississippi and hung out on the patio eating beignets and drinking the strong coffee! I had to add lots of cream and sugar!

I still try to do a Big Give each month, but sometimes- even that is pushing it, much less a Disney trip lol. I hope to take my son back when he is 3 or 4 - that would be magical!He is turning 3 at the end of this month and I can't believe it. Growing up way too fast. He turned 1 at Disney World, but I know he doesn't remember it at all. Once I find a job- I will save up little by little to go! :goodvibes

I can related, we had a few really hard years finacially, hope things get better so you can get to Disney. Our kiddos grow up way to fast for us mama's don't they...Megan starts middle school on Wed, seems like yesterday I was bringing her to pre-school.

What a great reason for a bonus trip.

When we used to go to WDW as a family, my younger son and I were always the early risers, so one day we decided to get up before the others, take the first bus, and eat breakfast wherever it took us. We have a delicious breakfast at Restrantasaurs (I'm pretty sure I butchered the name) in AK.

(But basically I'm a planner, too :) )

it really is a great reason for a trip :love: Judy was feeling bad that we are coming all that way just to spend a little bit of time with them....I was "not like we can't find something else to do" and we are not about to infringe on their entire trip....this is such a wonderful, happy trip for them and also just to have that family time together is priceless for them!

Whenever we get something from WDW with Goofy on it, we take it as a sign of love from Jim...he wasn't the big Disney lover Megan and I are, but did enjoy WDW more than DLR (when we lived in CA we had AP's and went a lot, He'd stay home and say have a fun time)

we really plan on taking it slower this trip....our day for MNSSHP we are staying at the resort, swim, laundry (if needed - hope to pack a bit lighter) nap so we will be rested for a long night of party:

is ginger and rod behaving themselves, better keep an eye on them....we don't want any little 16oz and nuggets running around :rotfl:

she thinks we are staying at POP again....had booked that initially, then she was looking through one of my WDW books and saw PO....I did get a pretty good deal with the change and since it had a fridge and coffee maker included that sealed the deal for me! she does know we are going on the carriage ride at PO to "check out the resort" for a future stay ;) so that's why I bought the POFQ dress D~ made for the carriage ride :rolleyes1

Actually, I have been sewing... I go upstairs, sew a bit of applique, get mad, come down stairs, get a drink, stop by the computer... same vicious cycle over and over again. :surfweb: I wish they had a sewing machine guy like this... :surfweb:

Jim couldn't pass up the opportunity to jump in either! to say the least the family behind us wasn't happy when they didn't get the same pixie dust!

it was fun...except for a bit of drizzle about 20 minutes before the parade, so they didn't get to do the dances because it was too slick!

we live on the third floor of our condo bldg and no elevators, so I have to literally bounce them up and down since I can't carry 40+ lbs and see where I'm going.

and this one was being at the right place at the right time.....there was originally two princesses out and we happend to be next in line when they switched out....the CM had been talking with Megan and said "would you like a photo with all four" heck ya!! Jim couldn't pass up the opportunity to jump in either! to say the least the family behind us wasn't happy when they didn't get the same pixie dust!

it was fun...except for a bit of drizzle about 20 minutes before the parade, so they didn't get to do the dances because it was too slick!

they were, still have big black holes in my memory of those days....we were living not to far from you at the time in Salida (Modesto) and then moved back up to WA last June to be closer to our families (Jim's buried here too)

We know he's with us....gives us little sign's all the time :cloud9: we get lots of "pennies from heaven"

I've never know anyone who had to deal with that before....friends and family who lost husbands and children to illness, but never by an accident or natural disaster.
we do go to grief counseling once a month...Megan goes with kids her age and I do the parent group at the same time for two hours...we have 30 min's for chatting and play games while eating pizza and then we all split to our different groups.

Megan went to Camp Erin last weekend....it was started 10 years ago by Jaime Moyer (was a Seattle Mariner at the time) when he met a girl named Erin who was sick and built it in her memory....they now have 40 camps around the country! and this Saturday night we all get to go see the Mariners play the Kansas City Royals play courtesy of Camp Erin/Moyer Foundation! I will share some photos afterwards of the game....unfortunately no photos of camp due to the privacy of all the campers, but will be doing something to be able to scrapbook Megan's memories of camp.

ironically, Jim and I were living in MO when we found out I was preggers with Megan and the Mariners where in town playing KC....so we made a sign and got on the national tv camera to annouce it to our families in Seattle!

Said "Hi Seattle from the three Birch's....baby due spring training 2000!" they just about flipped when they saw us :love:

well Megan doesn't really like it....she will do some once in awhile, but loves looking at it all when I'm done...I ask for her input on different things....she has to do the journalling for camp though since I wasn't there.

I did the WDW college program over 15 years ago and one thing I regret is not making time to go volunteer at GKTW village. But i am participating in our local North Tx/Dallas DIS meet on Oct 1st where we will raise money for GKTW!

My 7 year old would spend all his time at the pool! The 17 year old would spend all his time in the room watching tv. If there was fishing at the resort that might change things. We are at CSR and they closed the Marina.

Hi Lisa! I followed you over from the October thread. I :love: that we have that thread but it has slowly eaten every spare second of my day. I can't help but click on everyone's PTR's. Especially people staying at the same time.

We will be at AKL October 15-22. We're going to the party on the 16th which I'm kind of regretting. So many people are going on the 18th. I feel like I'm going to miss out on so much. We are doing AK on the 18th and have an early Tusker House ADR so I don't want to mess with that. Also have PL and BBB all set up for the 16th. I guess we'll have to make do. What a bother to try and be happy at WDW. :rotfl:

We are planning on going a Christmas in a couple of years (maybe a few the way saving for this trip has gone) and I can't wait to tour the resorts. POFQ is on the list just for the beignets!

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. That would be a terrible experience to go through. I'm so glad that you and Megan have had each other and still strive for happiness. I absolutely love how you announced her to the world.

when I picked up Megan she came out with a BIG smile on her face! liked all her teachers, no problems finding her way around, had at least one friend from last year in all bu two classes, only problem was lunch with the kids trying to get through the lines on there own.

had a yummy dinner out thanks to my mom, got some shopping $ from her and Megan got me a cute sweater and Snow White doll/statue that has the bigger head for my disney shelf.

when Megan went to bed she said that middle school is fun and looking forward to a great year!

yes we changed our costumes....Megan was going to be Cinderella and I was Snow White, the Cindy dress didn't fit Megan but SW did, the Cindy dress was tight in the chest area on me, so found a "rags" cindy dress for me and Megan is going as SnowWhite now.

Grumpy's girlfriend went on a European field trip this summer with a school group. She speaks Spanish and French and used both!



Smart girl! She knows her prioritites!

I made Grumpy take Spanish because of the number of people in Florida that speak Spanish. He wanted to take it so that he could understand his girlfriend and mother if they talked about him!


I was mean and made her take Spanish too. All three of my kids have taken it because California has a huge Spanish speaking population too.

yes we changed our costumes....Megan was going to be Cinderella and I was Snow White, the Cindy dress didn't fit Megan but SW did, the Cindy dress was tight in the chest area on me, so found a "rags" cindy dress for me and Megan is going as SnowWhite now.

My PTR has a lot of content that is certain! The best way to read it (I think) is to just click on the Table of Contents links...you will still miss some stuff, but get the highlights without being strapped to the computer forever! I will know you have been thinking of us, even if you can't comment ...TRUST ME, I know how hard it can be to log in some days! Yes, Lisa has been VERY excited about our HOB news! As SOON as she heard (I was about to explode, I had just found out when she called) she said she was coming for the weekend..and is now coming for LOTS of meets and greets...INCLUDING us. :goodvibes I honestly can't watch the reveal without crying, so I understand!

I got the lawn mowed and some trimming done and some raking of dirt where we had the fallen tree removed -- then I got too hot and sweaty and decided a shower sounded more appealing than more work in the 80º+ heat. But yes, you are cracking both you and me up! DH did make dinner last night (probably b/c I had taken ds to soccer practice) but no one mopped the floors for me.

Sorry you had a tiring day -- I think every day would be tiring for you with all the homeschool and doctor's appts and the like. I don't know how you do it. I'm excited that your trip is near so you can hopefully get a break from the everyday routine.

Megan is pretty good about wearing it....when we lived in CA she had to wear it from Mar - Nov due to all the sun....here in WA mostly in the summer so saving a bit on sunscreen now!

10/15 DTD am , lunch at E of S ----- then head over to GKTW until Judy get's tired of us and sends us home :)

My daughter's Girl Scout Troop made 8 blankets during their meeting yesterday. I spoke to them about the orphanage, Brittany, Megan and yourself. They were saddened by the stories about the earthquake but were happy to help out by making the blankets. I bought the fleece along time ago but didn't get around to making them before your need was fulfilled. I thought having the girls make the blankets would be a great way to share the story about the tragedy in Haiti.

I drink nothing but cherry coke or reg coke. Pepsi if there is no coke never any diet the aspiteme burns my stomach. Coke and fabric are my favorite drugs what can I say I can go hours with out eating just give me my coke and I am happy didnt getting any till almost 1230 today because steve had a ct scan at the va and couldnt eat or drink till after the test just didnt have the heart to drink in front of him boy was it making me cranky.

However, I do have to say, that occasionally I crave an ice cold pepsi too - in a can - so much colder than a plastic bottle.

I am strange like that - I can't stand sucralose - they put it in everything diet/reduced calorie/low sugar now - and it just tastes funny. So, I tend to eat a lot of all natural items - Kashi products and Greek yogert are my best friends. :thumbsup2 Sorry, off my soap box now... :wizard:

The girls and I are so excited to go, we can barely contain ourselves. After the fiasco of going to The Netherlands last year, and how horrible it was with the girls doing massive amounts of homework to stay caught up - they had no desire to miss that much school again. Can't say I blame them. Anyways, my bff is seriously upset with me over this. Hopefully she will start talking to me again soon. :wizard:

The magic shots are so much fun. The girls and I made a game out of finding the photographers... every time we saw one, we got in line, and Josh rolled his eyes... LOL But he was thankful when we got home, because we shared a PP with our neighbors and BFFs... and they had maybe only 20 pics each on there - so we definately go our $$ worth. so got my computer back about 5 tonight and been trying to get caught up! the good thing is my computer gets to come to WDW with us, so I can DIS a little each day!

can't believe we are at 5 days and 6 days until we get to meet Judy and family and looking forward to meeting up with our other new DIS friends along the way!

Your Octobers sound like a bittersweet month for you. I met my dh in October as well and we were supposed to get married in October but had to move the wedding up to Sept. b/c the Navy decided to send dh to sea on our planned wedding date! I'm sure you've had lots of good cries, but I hope you had loads of good memories and I'm really happy you have a part of Jim still with you -- meaning you have Megan. I'm also really pleased to see that even you really didn't plan to head back to Dis so soon, that the timing is probably in your best interest.

So cool that you will have your laptop with you for the trip! Don't worry about updating us though -- just have fun and enjoy your time with Megan and your friends. I'm really jealous and wish I could join you all!!!! I can't believe you leave later this week!!!!

Megan got all her carry-on stuff packed....toys, activities, dvd's, etc. I got my carry-on done too....all that's left is a couple bathroom items, my laptop, chargers and switching over to my smaller wallet!!

a yucky rainy day here....Megan has early dismissal at noon, so think we will get a jump start on some of her extra homework for her missing school time today.

re-thinking some of my packing so going to try and condense a little bit!

just checked weather.com and accuweather.....looking so much better than two days ago....minimal rain now!!!

We have a cooler we put aside for the chocolate. I need to figure out how to keep condensation from getting on the boxes. The chocolates are protected by a plastic cover, but the boxes could take a beating with condensation, and the chocolate could turn color going from temperature changes. They look perfect now. Wish I could eat one! (Of course, so do the kids.)

You did great!! I think I pack more than anyone and I'm there the least amount of nights. I really need to learn not to over pack. We are taking 2 cars so that Grumpy can head back earlier on Monday for school. I end up over packing both cars with neededless things I might need.
