Hi All!!! We're Back and are slowly drying off!!!
Well we have been back from WDW for almost 48 hours so it's about time to get going on that TR before i forget everything since I didn't take notes and will be relying on my pictures, receipts, and (poor) memory to write this! For those who have never read my reports before, I probably should start with introductions for our cast
 Hi, I'm Kristine. I'm a 34 year wife/mommy/social worker/scrapbooker/sewer/photography enthusiast from Boston!
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/DisMeet/Rest%20of%20DHS/DHS2.jpg
Here is Princess Aisling (pronounced Ash-ling for those of you who don't speak Gaelic ;)) She's 7 going on 15.
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/Star%20Wars%20Weekend/MK%20Day%201/010.jpg
Last but not least...my Prince ;) Ok, I don't really call him that. This is my personal chef, Randy :lovestruc
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/Star%20Wars%20Weekend/MK%20Day%201/Image0180.jpg
Randy puts up with all my Disney whims with very little complaining. And I'll forgive him the few complaints because he ends up being our packmule, will still hold Aisling to see at parades, runs for TSM FPs, carries around AG dolls when Aisling gets bored of holding them, dresses up for MSNSSHP, and stands up for women on packed Disney busses after the fireworks.

If I had to choose a picture to sum up our trip...this would be it.
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/081.jpg
Thank goodness I packed a LOT of ponchos because we needed them. :thumbsup2 However, our attitude is that being in a poncho at WDW is better than being at work without one
Shall we begin?
If you follow my reports, you know how trips begin for our family...with a visit from Tink :yay:
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/005.jpg
Tink had to visit early this trip because we had a very early morning flight and I knew that there was NOOOOO way Aisling would be awake enough to appreciate Tink's gifts at 3:30am. So Tink arrived on Thursday Aug 18th instead. Thursday was a busy day...work for Randy and I- Camp for Aisling plus a quick visit to the spa and Thursday night I was getting together with out of town friends. I got home from dinner at about 10pm and had to be back up at 3am. Guess who never went to bed??? And to make matters worse, when I got home- Aisling and Randy were both still up watching the Disney Channel  However, despite limited sleep, I was able to get them both out of bed fairly quickly because it's DISNEY DAY!!!
Aisling immediately ran downstairs to check of the final day on her countdown
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/011-1.jpg
While Randy organized all the luggage with my mom who had generously offered to drive us to the airport at this ongodly hour. Overpack??? Us???? :rolleyes1
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/010.jpg
Aisling, who takes about 20 minutes to get her school uniform on, was dressed in 2 seconds flat and was ready to go
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/014.jpg
The drive to the airport was uneventful and we quickly got dropped off and checked in at curbside...behind a bunch of people who still didn't know that you have to pay for extra, overweight baggage. The woman in front of us had 6 checked bags ALL of which went over the 50lbs. I cringed to see how much she had to pay at the gate. And she had a dog with her so she had to pay for him too!
After a quick nutritious ;) breakfast at Dunkins, it was time to board. If you read my PTR/follow on FB, you know that Aisling was given B boarding while Randy and I had A. Happy to let you know that they let her just come with us. I thought were were going to have to wait with her since she had the last number.
We boarded the plane and then sat...and sat. Turned out there was some light on that wasn't supposed to be. So we had to wait for mechanic to come check it out. Our flight ended up being delayed by about an hour.
We arrived at MCO after everyone got a little snooze on the plane and were greeted with a WALL of people at ME. I've never seen so many people there in all our trips. But it's Disney and they are fairly efficient so it moved very quickly!

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/026.jpg
I believe we stopped at Caribbean Beach, Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Club. We went in and were greeted by several CMs who directed us to the front desk where there was zero people in line so we got our check in documents in seconds! A quick drop off of our carryons to Bell Services and we were off to:
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/027.jpg
We were meeting up with Jen (Jennifer48) and her family for lunch. We got there about noon and only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table! One thing I did not think about at all prior to this trip since I had never been there...Beaches and Cream counts at a TS. Needless to say we did not use credits and paid OOP but I immediately thought what a gigantic waste of TS points and our meal cost under $50 with tip. I only have one pic from this outing but Jen has a pic of all of us that I'm sure she may share :rolleyes1
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/028.jpg
During lunch we got a fabulous text...our room was already ready! So off we went!

When I looked at the extended forecast it said rain for every day and I thought...oh that can't happen. It's florida, it will rain for 2 seconds and then be over. Not-so-much

We are going away tomorrow to Maine for the weekened so I figured I better squeeze in another update.
After lunch we walked back over to the lobby and said goodbye to Jen and fam as they headed off to Vero Beach. I completely forgot where I left the luggage claim tag...Disney brain already set in...but found it after an exhaustive search of my park bag
So off we went into the villas
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/032.jpg
First impression is that this hotel needs a major overhaul. Everything looked a little dingy. Just not Disney quality. They were doing a lot of painting and construction while we were there but it would be nice if they would give the Villas the same facelift the regular rooms received.
Aisling found the first hidden Mickey of the trip
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/034.jpg
We did get a 4th floor room (we requested 4th or 5th floor) which was fabulous. We had Villa 470 which was a bit of a hike but was SUPER quiet. Aisling immediately ran out to check out the view
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/035.jpg
And score we had a full balcony!!! (some of the rooms only have standing balconies) We had a view of the canal and the quiet pool- which was closed 90% of our trip making it that much more quiet
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/036.jpg
Anyone want a peek of the room??? Well yes or no, you are getting one ;)

We had called down to luggage services to bring up our Garden Grocer order and they ended up bring up our bags from ME as well :thumbsup2 Since we had everything, I figured this was the perfect time for me to get unpacked and organized and send Randy and Aisling to SAB.
I spent about an hour organizing the room and ironing the customs Aisling would be wearing for the next 2 days (I do my Disney ironing in shifts because I hate ironing at home...let alone on vaca!)
When everything was done, I changed into my suit to join them. But then I remembered that I had a large amount of cash in my purse that I probably shouldn't just be leaving around the room. So I went to go put it in the safe. Except there was no wallet. Anywhere. At all. The room I spent an hour organizing was completely pulled apart again. No luck. I remembered tipping the Bell Services downstairs but Randy had tipped the one upstairs. I called the front desk in a panic. They connected me with lost and found but nobody picked up.
Now as upset as I was about having to cancel credit cards and losing hundreds of dollars...what really had me worried was how I was going to get on a plane with no ID!
Now I told you that Villa 470 was a hike. And boy was it a hike when you are running to find lost and found. I was completely hyperventilating, tears streaming down my face by the time I got to the front desk. Remember those nice people who greeted us? They immediately jumped into action to find it. One of the porters went into a back room and came out waving it. I immediately proclaimed that I could kiss him :rotfl2: Remember when I was looking for that luggage tag? Well I had taken cash out at the same time to tip the porter when i found it. And then left my wallet on the couch! Kudos to honest Disney people. Everything was still in it :thumbsup2
I made the long trek back up to my room (slightly annoyed at this point that it had been a really long time and Randy hadn't called concerned about me at all!) I locked up the cash in the safe, grabbed my camera and Kindle, and headed out to SAB FINALLY!

Oh my goodness, you have REALLY bad luck with wallets on vacation. I think if we ever get the microchip option of credit cards in our fingers that you should absolutely take advantage of that. :rotfl2::lmao: You need to barcode yourself!

Kristen, since you haven't read the rest of my TRs, let me assure you...things like this happen to me frequently. In Ireland, last October, an ATM ate our card and we couldn't get it back for the whole trip, on Aisling's first trip I dropped all my credit cards and ID and realized it when I went to check in at the airport, and that's just 2 examples LOL!

I remember you searching frantically for the bell services tag but I do not remember you sitting your wallet on the couch or I would have caught it! I specifically waited for you to find the luggage tag before we left just in case you needed something. I'm so sorry that happened to you! Seriously, Randy needs to start carrying a man purse to carry all your stuff so this doesn't happen again! :rotfl:
Here is the group pic from Beaches 'n Cream that was taken by my favorite CM there, Melanie, who remembered us from a previous trip!! :flower3:

Ironically we had so much cash on us because of the Ireland incident. We charged everything to the room anyway (and paid off the room charge with gift cards and our Disney Visa points) but Randy insisted on having a lot of cash of us "just in case" :rolleyes1
I have decided that since my husband takes zero role in the planning, packing, etc that my brain is so crazed while I'm there trying to remember everything that needs to get done, where we are supposed to be, etc that I make simple mistakes. And a bit of foreshadowing...this was only mistake number 1 :headache:

Livy's first day was great! She loved every minute of it and was sad when it was time to go! She told me that she had to "be bossy to one of the other kids because he had a bad attitude, wasn't listening to the teacher and didn't know ANYTHING"! It was pretty funny! Thanks for asking!
Nice update! I have to say that I am right there with you when it comes to unpacking and organizing the room! it just seems so much easier and nicer not having to live out of suitcases. I was also right there with you on the ironing! I had a problem though...our ironing board got stuck open and I couldn't get the stupid thing closed! The little tab/bar that you push in to close it wouldn't push! I was ready to throw the whole thing off the balcony!
Can't wait for another update!!!
*PS- Where did you find all your awesome readers? I think I lost most of mine! The ones I do have certainly aren't as chatty and fun as yours!

I'm here! You're sure off to an exciting start! Glad you recovered your wallet! I agree about BCV needing to be spruced up more like the BC. They're still nice, but not as fresh. Well it didn't rain every day but the odds were not good...I'll put the grand total at the end of the report. ;) Thanks for coming over and joining!

OMG! We had the same issue with our ironing board!!! So weird! Randy finally had to pratically break it to get it to move.
I do have awesome readers. I've been on DIS for a LOOOOONG time and I've met a lot of these folks IRL so that helps too I guess

How about another update???
Well as I mentioned, I was finally on my way to SAB. I took some pics along the way
The iconic Ariel
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/046.jpg
The Solarium where I imagined myself with a cup of tea and my Kindle...guess how many times that happened in a week and a half??? :rotfl2:
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/047.jpg
The Lobby
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/048.jpg
Cape May
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/049.jpg
And finally I found my way out to the much hyped SAB. And are you ready for it????? I immediately hated it. No joke. Hated it. See I was still frustrated from the whole wallet thing and Randy not checking on me and when I got to SAB, I couldn't find my family or our stuff at ALL. Every single chair was taken (mostly by towels so the people were probably long gone). I wandered around for over a half hour before I found them. I went up to the very highest point and found them on the slide. Turns out Randy couldn't find a seat on the BC side so our stuff was on the YC side. Am I the only person who found this pool area to be extremely hard to navigate? When you are annoyed, that place is a giant maze of going up and down stairs constantly. Thus the hatred. (it was much later in our trip before I was able to enjoy SAB at all)
Anyway, i did find my family...see them?
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/054.jpg
I met them on the bottom of the slide
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/057.jpg
Finally I was able to put my stuff down and hop in the pool. Talissa's (DisneyTiger) TR prepared me for the consistency of the "sand" bottom. It really was pretty neat that it didn't stick to you at all. I stood there playing with it for awhile marveling at it :rotfl:
We had some fun down at the pool but then the rain started and we figured it was time to go upstairs and relax before our dinner ADR

See....SAB doesn't do much for me....not that I have ever been BUT I don't like sand so the idea of all that sand really turns me off. Ick. I do enjoy the idea of a lazy river though.

First of all, I love that multi-colored swirly suitcase!
The way you describe Randy is so sweet! Any guy that gives up his seat on the bus is a good guy. I'm amazed by the amount of young people who will sit while elderly people stand!
Ugh, an hour delay to takeoff. That is never fun. At least you got a nap!
Your wallet!!! YIKES!! Well, I think your wallet loss capabilities are catchy because I lost my wallet today. :sad2: I still haven't found it and I'm starting to freak out. I'm almost certain I left it somewhere today. :sad2:
What a pretty resort! I've only ever stayed at Pop, which I really like. But, it would be nice to try someplace else one of these days.

I have a giant pet peeve about people not giving up seats. I really don't understand where these young men were raised. Or if you have a little one...hold them on your LAP for cryin' out loud when there is a two hour wait for buses (but that part is coming up!)
Purple suitcase is a Target special. 3 pieces for $15 on Black Friday last year. It held our shoes for this trip ;)

If you look at the bathroom in your picture, we were the first balcony when you are looking over from the roof toward the pool. As I mentioned in my last post...it had started to rain so we headed upstairs. As you can see by the pic of Aisling looking over the balcony, the storm was short-lived :rotfl2: This made me so happy because the forecast for the week was terrible and I kept reminding Randy that they were clearly referring to the short afternoon rainstorms so frequent in Central Florida. Boy was I wrong
So we rested for a little bit and then decided to get dressed for dinner at none other than Cape May. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/065.jpg
They were running a little late for our ADR (another common theme during this trip) so Aisling sat down to watch Snow White...or take a snooze, you be the judge
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/068.jpg
Randy tried out these canoe-like chairs in the lobby
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/067.jpg
They sat us about 15 minutes after our ADR time which turned out to be not too bad. While we were waiting, Randy pointed out that there were really dark clouds rolling in over the Boardwalk but I chose to ignore them because my weather bug said the storms were over :rolleyes1
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/070.jpg
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/072.jpg
I have to say that this was the BEST meal we had all week. Definitely a repeater. I was so skeptical of mass-produced seafood but everything was SOOOOOO yummy. And I was also introduced to the new and improved Disney mixed drink menu. Tonight I went with the Key Lime Martini
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/073.jpg
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/074.jpg
Aisling was way more interested in the tablecloth you could draw on but even she found something she enjoyed (NOT a seafood fan)
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/071.jpg
And she had an important decision to make...would we go to MK for EMHs or was that 4am wakeup call just too much for her????

I am enjoying your TR! The Yacht Club was my first resort and I have stayed at the YC/BC complex 3 times, so it feels like home. I've never stayed in a DVC villa though. I enjoyed your photos of your villa. It looks nice, even though it's not as nice as the picture that was posted from All Ears of the refurbished Beach Club rooms. The last time I stayed at BC was in 2005, so they looked more like your villa looked than what was posted on All Ears.
I was so nervous reading about your lost wallet! And how scary to have so many wallet incidents on vacations! :scared1:

We aren't seafood people so we'll probably never eat at Cape May unless we are with others that do. How were the alternatives? What did Ash end up eating?

Of course we went to EMHs at the MK...my kid doesn't care about such trivial thngs as SLEEP :rotfl2: As were were heading out of Cape May, the skies were getting pretty black. But my experience with Orlando storms made me think that the rain was already over...and my trusty WeatherBug was saying that the storms were over. So off we went. Never trust me or the Weatherbug :rotfl:
So we went out for our very first bus ride and as if by magic, a MK bus immediately was pulling up as were were crossing the little bridge. So us and about 3 other families hopped on. We pulled out of the BC property and the heavens opened. This storm was so bad that the bus was shaking from the thunder/lightening. Now, I drive 2000 plus miles a month for work and I would have pulled over my own car. There was NOOOO way this bus driver was seeing 2 feet in front of him. The ride was very scary. To take our mind off of the storm, we put on our ponchos like the prepared folks we are (noticing that none of the other families on the bus had ponchos) :scared1:

Remember that pic from the beginning of my TR? Ya, that is from this night. Here is another view
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/082.jpg
We left tonight all up to the boss. She decided she immediately wanted to go to Tomorrowland. Now when we were getting off the bus and going through the turnstiles, there were a LOT of folks leaving. I was really excited thinking that the park would be dead. I was wrong....AGAIN. It was still really busy for having a horrendous storm going through it. Space Mountain had some kind of insane wait (60 or 90..I forget). So we skipped that. But we proceeded to make our way through the rest of Tomorrowland. Aisling's first and last choices were very odd for our normal touring plans.
First up...Laugh Floor!
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/085.jpg
Now in fairness she picked this first because it had a 10 minute posted wait. They were wrong. It was closer to 30. We had a pretty good audience so the show was good. Next we got FPs for Buzz and went on 2 oldies but goodies! People Mover and CoP. When we came out, it was time for...

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/096.jpg
After Buzz, Aisling announced that she was getting pretty sleepy and wanted to do only one more ride and then get going. (At this point, the MSE was going on...so it was getting close to parking closing by certainly before EMHs had started).
He choice was something my family had NEVER ridden and with a 20-25 minute wait was a good enough choice to wrap up the evening
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/133.jpg
This thing goes waaaaay faster than I would have imagined. In the group in front of us, the woman who rode in my rocket got stuck. I was paranoid pretty much the whole ride that I might end up getting stuck but I'm happy to report that I got out ok in one try (thank you WWs!!!!)
On the way out, WISHES was starting so we saw a little bit of it as we were making our way through the crowds.

As if by Disney magic again, a BC/YC bus was waiting when we got to the bus area. I really prayed that this would be a good sign for the buses during our trip.
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/168.jpg
Beach Club was welcoming us in all it's pretty nighttime glory when we got back
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/169.jpg
And at last we were back in our room and Day 1 had officially come to an end with all the Smith's snuggled into their beds

:welcome: So you got through security with no ID??? Did you have to go through extra security or something??? See we are people who TRULY needed a vacation ;)
:
Yup had to go to security and say I have a business card and a credit card (Disney Visa mailed me a card to the resort!)-that was it! He asked me several questions and that was it...I thought it was going to be a lot harder and was sooo nervous all day! I had called the airline and they said just plan on extra time but they didnt take me aside or anything...Like I said before, I am sure I am not the first person to lose their wallet on vacation!
I am sorry you had to go through that scare though! One day you will look back and laugh!

Yeah for making it MK! Sounds like you guys had a nice, low key evening-perfect start to a vacation! We have still never done Laugh Floor, although every trip I say that we are going to do it. We have also never done Astro Orbiter....but you know how I feel about spinning and how Toby feels about the height, so I don't see that one on any upcoming park plans! Can't wait to see what your next day holds! ;)

You really should do the Laugh Floor. The show totally depends on the audience and whether they are good sports but it's generally pretty funny

It looks like you managed to have some fun at MK, even with the rain and lack of sleep. I've never ridden on those rocket things either. I'm always afraid the spinning will make me sick for the rest of the day (it probably would).
I also have a pet peeve about little kids taking up seats while older people stand- especially when their parents have a perfectly good lap for them to sit in. When my kids do sit in a seat, I make them cram onto one seat unless there are plenty of seats for everyone.

This happens a LOT at WDW. People forgot that it's 47 square miles. At home it might be raining in your town and not raining 40 miles away but somehow, at least for me, I always forget and assume the weather is the same throughout the Kingdom

Well after a very long Day 1...clearly day 2 needed to begin with NO ALARMS. We all slept in a bit, had a little breakfast, and headed back to MK...after we got Aisling motivated to leave the couch
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/172.jpg
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/174.jpg
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/176.jpg
Our luck with the bus yesterday did not ring true for today. There was a wait. Aisling entertained herself playing games.
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/178.jpg
When we arrived at MK at about 10, it was busy...not bad but busy. So we decided to send Randy ahead to get Space Mountain FPs. Aisling and I noticed there was only a 15 minute wait for Mickey so we hopped in the line. Aisling doubled checked the Mobile Magic app to see if the wait times were accurate
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/179.jpg
We were in to see Mickey quickly and the PP guy offered to use my camera to take a pic of all of us which was nice.
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/184.jpg
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/188.jpg
We came out and Aisling's spending money started burning a hole in her pocket so she started checking out pins
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/190.jpg
Randy kept calling that he was waiting with the FPs up next to the Plaza so we figured we better get moving. We did stop for a second to hear the Dapper Dans
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/195.jpg
We found Randy and he informed us that Space Mountain was only a 15 minute standby. So off we went to Tomorrowland. Because of the short wait time, we were eligible to get another set of FPs in only a half hour (and half that time was already gone waiting for Aisling and I ) so I decided to sit out Space Mountain and go get FPs for BTMRR or Splash.
I couldn't resist a little treat along the way
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/196.jpg
When I was crossing the bridge into Adventureland, I could see a small child all by himself up ahead. I was shocked that nobody was stopping to see if he was ok. I got up to him and realized that he was sobbing. I asked if he was lost and he was. He told me his name and that he was 3. He said that he was with his dad. Another women saw me with him and offered to go get a CM to help. In the meantime, his "dad" came back. Guy didn't say thank you for helping his child and didn't seem very surprised that the kid had wandered off. AHHHHH I love when I see such wonderful examples of parenting at WDW (insert sarcasm here)
After that I decided to stop and have a little mommy time and watch Capt Jack while I had my snack
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/201.jpg
I got the FPs after the show and then headed into Liberty Square. You may have noticed that Aisling was sporting a HM custom today and I wanted to make sure to get pics at the ride before we got too dirty/sweaty. I tried calling Randy but there was no answer. So I sat in Liberty Square....and sat. And had such a good time. I really could do this all day. The number of people who stood in front of Columbia Harbour House saying they couldn't find the HM was staggering LOL!
Finally Randy called back and said he was on his way. So I people watched some more waiting. Turns out they had ridden SM twice and had gone on Stitch. But now it was time for one of mom's favorites :cheer2:

Thought I would throw out a real time update here too! First Aisling lost 2 teeth this week (two nights in a row) so she had a toothless grin again. The other big update was that we were FINALLY able to cut her hair for Locks of Love. I did a big update on FB with the whole actual haircut but since you can see in my TR how long her hair was...thought I would just show you some pics of her I took today- minus 13 inches :thumbsup2

If you are a Disney veteran and "know" where you are going, I think it would be easy to accidentally skip the new Haunted Mansion queue area. We went back later in the week and the line was INSANE so we skipped it but we were telling the newbies to go try it out.

Howdy! I have two updates to catch up on!
I can't believe all of the rain! Good job on the ponchos! :thumbsup2 It cracks me up when I see people that are completely unprepared. That stinks about the Laugh Floor wait time! I swear they only count the time in the outdoor queue and not the twelve years you wait in the hallway before entering. In six trips, we've never done Astro Orbiter either! I can't believe Ash didn't make into the EMH's - she is always raring to go!
Sounds like a nice sleep-in AM but still to the MK early enough to get stuff done. I have got to try a cream cheese pretzel next time! Love that you got to spend some time strolling/observing! I agree with you - how could that parent not be worried - especially with it being a 3 year old!

I'm late but I'm along for the TR. So far it's great. Minus the wallet missing and rain. But i've lost my wallet before too, ended up in tears. That and the rain, I would take over the cold we had on our last family trip. It was soooo cold (19 degrees) in December 2010. My mom and I love sitting in Liberty Square at the rocking chairs and people watching. Especially the foreign tourists.

I already said this on FB but love Ash's hair! :thumbsup2 Looks great and so grown-up!
You haven't tried the cream cheese pretzel yet???? Oh you have to. SOOOOO yummy.
Can't believe all the people that never have done the Astro Orbiter. ANd here I was thinking we were the only ones.
:welcome: We've done the cold too and it's not fun. Esp during the fireworks. brrrrr.

Sorry for the lack of updates this week. Stupid stomach flu. Then I spent Friday night trying to upload my pics to PB and my stupid laptop kept freezing up.
Anyway...on with the show!
When I left you, were were meeting up with a new DIS friend!
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/309.jpg
Erin and Olivia!!!!
The girls got along very well and I think for today anyway, Aisling was minimally bossy to Olivia. It was lunchtime and everyone was a bit hungry but the girls were much more interested in doing some rides together and there was only one place they wanted to head
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/285.jpg
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/295.jpg
Yup, we did a little Mountain riding ;) After Thunder and Splash, the girls decided it was time for a little Pirates so we headed over there. Unfortunately there was a bit of a wait for Pirates but we made the time pass chit chatting and I think the girls did some pin trading. After Pirates, Olivia had an appointment to have her very first haircut and us Smiths were starving so we split up and made plans to meet up later that evening.
We went into Tortuga but there was nothing that was too thrilling to Aisling on the menu so we decided to go to an old safety...Pecos Bill's. This was the first of many tears by Aisling that she doesn't eat ANYTHING that Disney has to offer. In reality, she would prefer the adult meals. And I really don't blame her. Wish Disney would give a few more options on those kids meals. The sides are horrible. Aisling doesn't eat grapes or raw carrots so it's tough to make that applesauce seem exciting at every meal :rolleyes1
After Lunch we noticed the skies were getting a bit dark so we decided to head out. Aisling wanted to stop on the way and souvie shop on the way out. While we were in the Emporium, the heavens opened. If you were following on FB, I posted a pic of the waves going down Main St. Problem was that we had split up from Randy before the rain started and he had the ponchos. And due to the storm, our cells kept dropping the calls. So we waited in the corner outside of a shop
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/312.jpg
(don't worry, she's not drinking soda...that's my drink)
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/311.jpg
Randy finally made it over and we got poncho'd up and ran. I will comment that I am THOROUGHLY amazed by the number of people who took off their shoes to run. Disney really does lull you into a false sense of security huh?
We got the bus stop absolutely drenched (as was everyone else- which made for an interesting unveiling of very un-Disney-like undergarments ;)) But we at least had our ponchos. Because the rain was coming completely sideways so the bus stop roof was doing no good. We waited AGES for this bus (better part of an hour) . At some point we heard a large BOOM that sounded unlike the thunder/lightening but we couldn't figure out what it was. By the time our bus came, all the resort bus lines were filled to capacity. We learned the issue when we got on. Turns out that the roads had completely flooded out and the buses were all having to take alternate routes. MK to BCV...55 minute ride...WET :scared1:
Luckily we had a little friend to cheer us up when we finally made it back to the room
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/316.jpg
Due to the transportation issues, we didn't have much of a time for an afternoon break. We all laid down and Randy and I got a catnap while Aisling watched the Disney channel. But the nap was short lived because we needed to get up and going to....

Flooded roads? Woah! No wonder buses were late.
I'm one of those people who will walk barefoot in the rain (or because I can't take my heels anymore), and not just at Disney. It's such a nice feeling! :cutie: I guess those things just don't worry me at all. :confused3

Yea for meets and mountain riding!!! They both look so cute in their outfits! Jordan does not eat grapes or carrots either - we often get two adult cs meals and just share with her. I cannot believe how much rain you had - that photo is crazy! Ugh - a long wait for the bus and a long wet ride! I hope the evening gets better!

Aisling picked dinner for this night so we ended up at....
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/318.jpg
I really wish she would outgrow this one because frankly it's only remaining redeeming quality is seeing the Fab 5 without a line. And even that...Pluto barely slowed down for me to snap the camera :headache:
But for now, she loves it so off we went. Because we had lost so much time getting back from MK, we decided to fork up the money for a cab because it was still sprinkling out at this point and most likely the roads were still flooded...which meant another long drive plus transfer to the monorail. Sometimes at WDW, it's worth it to just take a cab.
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/317.jpg
They warned us when we arrived that they were running about 20 minutes late for ADRs so we waited awhile. I did notice that a lot more people were skipping the family portrait this time. Guess we had some seasoned CM goers in the crowd that night. No way I'm paying $35 for a picture.
The Disney channel was on one TV and a game was on at the bar and mommy had FB on her phone so the wait went fast. Randy noticed that they had added a "monorail as a decoration" in the CR. I pointed out that he clearly didn't pay attention because the monorail has run through here since it was built. Randy pointed out that it has been still the entire time we were there but finally agreed that it was the monorail that runs through the resort loop and not a new decoration :rotfl2:
We were seated to the left of the buffet stations which I had never even realized was part of CMs before. The good thing about that section is you have plenty of warning for characters...because trust me, blink and you miss them here!
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/319.jpg

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/333.jpg

I didn't take a pic of the food because frankly it wasn't worth it. There were REALLY slim pickings tonight for choices. I had salad bar, mashed potato, and dessert. Although when I got up to get dessert, they came over with these...I feel really bad because we only took a bite out of them just to say we did...what a waste
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/341.jpg
With dinner done, Mickey still had not appeared. So we waited. And paid our bill. And waited. And had our drinks refilled. And waited. Finally the big guy arrived just when we were giving up.

Since the next couple of updates are mostly just pictures...I will just share them now!!!!
Erin and Olivia and new DIS friend Megan (who was a FGIT at the Castle) were holding spots for us near the hub. Us girls squeezed in and Randy went off exploring (mostly like texting friends ;)) Oh the way in, we learned the truth about the broken down monorail and the large boom we had heard this afternoon. The monorail was struck by lightning!!!! Insane huh? Anway, the monorail would be down for the foreseeable future.

Next up was the Castle show. I have to say that I didn't love the idea of pics on the Castle but this show is A-MA-ZING. You can not describe it. A friend warned me not to watch on YouTube and ruin the surprise. I'm so glad I waited.

After Wishes, Erin, Megan, and Olivia decided to head out. The MK was open for another hour and Aisling had FPs from this morning burning a hole in her pocket so off we went.
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%202-%20MK/465.jpg
At 10:50, we ended up by the Jungle Cruise. Shockingly, they let us on. And then the boat broke down. 4 skippers tried to start it. After about 15 minutes, it started. Frankly I'm shocked they didn't just kick us out since the park was technically closed. But they took us on a punny journey ;)
On the way out, the Kiss Goodnight was going on. I've never noticed this in all our trips to WDW so we stopped to watch.

At this point, it was 11:40 according to that clock. And see all the people??? Know why they were there???? Because they couldn't get out. We walked out t he front and the mass chaos that was going on outside the gates was UNREAL. Tens of thousands of people stuck!!! You never realize how many people the monorail transports. They were trying to transport them to the TTC by boat. The line was about 10-11 people deep and it ran all the way from the Landing Docks up the ramp to the monorail, down the other side of the ramp, and back beyond the MK gates. In the meantime, they had pulled buses to bus the monorail resort guests. Guess what that meant??? 1, yes 1, bus was running back and forth to BC/YC/BW :scared1::scared1::scared1: Luckily the roads were re-opened but it was taking this poor guy a full hour to drop off and come back.
We finally arrived back at BC at 1:30am. (yes almost 2 hours after we left MK). So it was immediately off to bed because we were due at rope drop tomorrow!!!

You wear HEELS at WDW??? How????
I only wore heels once, for a dinner at Fulton's. It was only for a few hours, but I was still ready to take my heels off back at the resort (and I'm pretty sure I did ).
But I meant in general, I'll walk barefoot from my car to my home after a night out on the town, just as I will take my shoes off and walk barefoot in the rain in Disney. :goodvibes
The monorail was struck down by lightning! :scared1: And what a mess it created!!! Wow! I would have been exhausted after such a long wait, and I doubt I would have made rope drop the next day.
Beautiful Wishes pictures!
I agree that MSEP is not that special. I prefer Spectromagic.
The Castle show is simply mind-blowing! Amazing!! And it is so true that it's better not to watch it online before. It just doesn't do it justice.

Well on Day 3 we did make it to rope drop! I probably should have mentioned that at the beginning of this TR that if you are looking for a report about a family running to rope drop every day...this is not your TR. We are not rope drop people. We've done WDW many many times so we are perfectly happy not setting an alarm on vacation. But on Day 3, we had to. Because we wanted to ride...
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%203-DHS/011.jpg
I'm somewhat saddened that this is still necessary for this ride after it being opened for so long. So off we went bright and early. We took the boat over to DHS which was a nice short ride. They say 8 minutes but I don't think it took that long. Being veterans, we split up once we got past the gates so Randy could wheedle his way closer to the front and head straight for the FP machines.
Aisling spent the half hour wait checking out the map to see if there was a quicker way....silly Ash :rotfl2:
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%203-DHS/001.jpg
And then the dash started
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%203-DHS/003.jpg
By the time we got over there, Randy was 2nd in the line at the FP machines :thumbsup2. Now, being good Disney guests, we did not get in line until he was done. I wish we had not done that. In the time it took for Randy to get the FPs (again 2nd at the machine!!!!), the line was all the way back to the Backlot Tour entrance :scared1: Now, again, being veterans, I knew the line was because of all the people entering the line without their whole party and all the folks stopping and taking pics along the inside queue area holding up the traffic. By the time we entered the building, it was a 40 minute wait. I didn't think that would be accurate because it literally was only 9:08 at this point (the line between Backlot and the building had moved really fast...Randy had FPs at 9:03). It was a 40 minute wait. :rolleyes1
But because the wait was slow, I had time to take pics

I did not have my best game and Randy ended up winning for the car. Really need to learn to put the camera down and play :rotfl2: While we were exiting, I saw Erin and Olivia on the staircase! Aisling and I decided to wait outside for them and because the line for TSM had taken so long, we were due for more FPs so Randy went to get them for RnRC.
They took to a little after 10 to come out of the ride. By that time, the Phineas and Ferb meet and greet was starting so that is where we were heading
If you haven't seen Phineas and Ferb yet, they really entertain you in the line with a pre-show. There is audience participation and they do little musical numbers. Randy and Aisling got into the dancing with some robot action

Aisling's fantabulous custom and matching bows got her picked. Either that or because she was jumping around like an insane person (kid belongs on a stage)

Aisling's segment backstory was that they were filming a new music video for Gitchee Gitchee Goo.

I do have to give it to Disney. Completely genius of them to do this. Because Phineas and Ferb are new, the line gets really long really quick but seems to go by so fast when they are entertaining you! Finally it was our turn!

Agreed! It went super fast for us because Declan was picked to be in the pre-show too ( ok ok I basically tossed him at the guy running it)..

That whole second half of the update was completely foreign to me. I have never watched Phineas & Ferb. Bow Chicka what? :lmao:
I can't believe the wait was 40 minutes at 9:08, that is so ridiculous. I really wish the Toy Story Mania mad rush would die down. It needs too. It's been many years since it opened, over 3 I think. Sigh. I guess that just goes to show how little there is to do at Hollywood Studios.

TSM opened 5/31/2008! You would think it opened that week the way the crowds still stampede there. For the record, the FPs were gone when we went back over by that area before lunch.

I will watch when I get home, can't at work.
I know I need learn these things but I have a few years, right? :rotfl2:
It's ridiculous that it is still like this. Maybe because it is popular and a slower loading ride? I don't know but on all of my trips the FPs are gone or at park closing by the time we get back there to redeem our 2nd set of FPs.

We love Phineas & Ferb in our house too! Your daughter's dress and bows are so cute as well! My daughter got to participate in the same backstory as your daughter. my daughter played one of the "guitars" though. it did make the line go by so quickly..loved it!

I've been a bad DIS friend...no comments in like 3 or 4 updates!! :scared1: Let me get caught back up right this minute!
I can't how excited Olivia was to finally meet Aisling! She talked about it for the whole ride up to WDW. She talked about it for the whole ride into the park. She talked about it the whole time we were walking back to HM to meet up with you guys. She talked about it the whole time we were waiting for you guys outside HM. Get the idea of just how EXCITED she was to meet her new friend?! The girls really did have a blast hanging out that day (and Aisling was never bossy that I recall)!
I know what you mean about CM! We somehow end up there on pretty much every trip, but I can never figure out why! I guess b/c it is the first character meal we ever took Livy too when she was 15 months old and she HATED the characters! It must just be sentimental.
The P&F meet was set up really cute! The girls were pretty well occupied in line! What cracked me up was the CM who kept making us scoot up in line, pretty much on top of the people in front of us to "make more room"...when there was nobody behind us and there was a whole other row to use for the line!
Can't wait to see what is up next! :rolleyes1

Running of the bulls for TSM is getting old, I agree.
I  Phineas & Ferb! Its seriously one of my favorite shows. I watched it so much and DH used to make fun of me and now he loves it too!
I want Aisling's P&F custom!! I'll settle for the hair bows. My hair is longer than hers now anyways :rotfl:

Woah - I was so behind with your updates! I haven't been able to get on the boards all week. I'm all caught up now, though! :goodvibes
Let's see - love Aisling's HM outfit! The pictures that you got inside are so good. I especially love the one of the glowing blue lady (don't know her technical name :lmao:). We think of Pecos Bills as our MK cs standby, too. We always seem to end up there. So many people complain about the kids meals at the parks, you would think that they would change them! Everyone likes variety, no matter how old you are!
Cute cute cute CM outfit! Your experience there sounds just like the one we had - not very good. The food wasn't good at all. I can't believe you had to wait all of that time to see Mickey!
I agree about the MSEP, too. I wish they would bring back Spectro! I know a lot of people love the MSEP, but I don't think it even comes close to Spectro. We didn't even bother stopping to watch it on the honeymoon. I do love the Magic Memories and You show though! We saw it the night of the dessert party, so I haven't seen it up close. I definitely teared up watching it!
Wow! What a transportation nightmare! I was going to comment that that was why I like to drive to the parks, but I guess even I would have had a hard time getting to the TTC that night! I can't believe it took you two hours to get back to the BC!
And, for the third time in this response, I am going to agree with you again about the TSM dash. I kind of enjoyed it once, but then it lost its appeal. I hate that I have to plan my whole day around getting there in time for that attraction. I'm glad that you at least got your FPs quickly!

I really am starting to think that the TSM thing has become such a Disney Urban Legend thing that it's never going to die down. I don't recall another ride that even when it first opened...you HAD to get to first thing or the FPs would be gone. If we all just agreed to stop doing that, there would be plenty of FPs to go around.

Anyway, Phineas and Ferb seemed to enjoy their meet and greet with our ladies

After cooling down on the rides and grabbing some drinks, we decided to head over to check out the one thing that I've been dying to do at DHS… drawing class!! We got over there and there was about a 15-20 minute wait for the next class. It was technically filled but they told us they often can squeeze in standbys so Randy and I held our place in line while Erin took the girls to play. We luckily made it in the first class!!!
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%203-DHS/053.jpg
Our class was filled with folks who had already done the class so finding someone to draw took awhile. The teacher finally found a few and we voted. The winner proved to us that we will never been Imagineers. Any guesses who we drew???
BUZZ LIGHTYEAR!
Here is our attempts…
Randy’s

After class, we decided that we should split up for lunch/afternoon break. But Aisling wanted to do one more ride. Remember those FPs will still had for RnRC??? Well it wasn’t that. Aisling chickened out. Instead, she wanted to visit an old friend.

After the Great Movie Ride (we got the Cowboy version), we headed out to the boat dock.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Photopass%20Pics/Photo0129FourBySix.jpg
When we got out to the boat dock, we noticed a CM dressed in a shirt and tie with a diving mask on his face. He was hanging off the side of a small boat looking in the water. The crowd was clearly curious about what he was doing.
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%203-DHS/067.jpg
He informed us that a guest had dropped their iphone in the water. Randy pointed out that it was junk, they are no good once they get wet. The CM agreed but stated “sir, this is Disney, if a guest wants their phone back, we get their phone” and headed off to get DIVERS to retrieve the phone! INSANE!!!!
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%203-DHS/069.jpg
Aisling quickly fell asleep for her daily “nap on various modes of WDW transportation”
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%203-DHS/070.jpg
We got back and had a very cute towel animal version of our Bailey waiting to cuddle us for a nap! Which we did. After we got CS lunch at Hurricane Hannah's. Really not impressed. Aisling liked the whole bucket thing but their options were CS lunch were REALLY limited. Later in the week I did notice that if you go to lunch early, you can get Sushi from the Japan Pavillion which would have been fun but sadly we never got back there to try it. (they only get so much sushi so it's first come, first serve)

Because I have motion sickness. The moving didn't bother me so much...it's the visuals so I had to keep my eyes shut.
That thing around his neck is a little wallet that you wear when you are running. Fits some cash and a house key. I have no clue what he had in there. Maybe some spare cash so I couldn't lose it :rotfl2:

Well after we had a little rest, we got dressed to head back over to the Studios. We were very excited because the sun was shining and there was no rain in the evening forecast so hopefully we would be able to go ahead with our evening plans.
First up was mommy taking some pics getting to the boat landing.

Well of course we went to dinner at Sci Fi. Love this place. We spend all year trying to convince our kids that it's NOT okay to eat in front of the TV and then we take them here ;) :rotfl2:

That waiter was super fun. One of the best we had on this trip :thumbsup2 He had a lot of recommendations and definitely tried to get us to use DDP to our complete advantage to get the most food we could. Clearly he didn't realize that we had family pictures coming up and was trying to bloat me :rotfl2:

We did decide to change it up for dinner based on the waiter's recommendations. I had the shrimp pasta

I had the new red velvet cheesecake for dessert. It was yummy although I must admit that I liked the Year of Million Dreams cheesecake with popcorn slightly more

After Dinner, Erin decided that she was going to skip Fantasmic and head back to the hotel with Olivia. It was a long day for a little girl
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Day%203-DHS/119.jpg
We headed back out into the park and it was getting pretty late. We decided that we would use our FPs from this morning and squeeze in another ride. We made the mistake of going to TSM first. (somewhere that morning we had snuck in a 2nd trip on the ride but clearly I forget when that happened???) So this would be our 3rd ride today. Well we got in and the line was nuts (yes the FP line...not the regular line). It took us forever to get through it. When we were coming down the staircase into the line, Aisling fell down the stairs. She was fine but she was a tired little girl and was not very happy about her fall. We got outside and we didn't have a ton of time to get to the 2nd showing of Fantasmic because it was already like 9:30pm.

So sadly we never made it onto RnRc that day. We decided that we would try to come back on one of our down days (since we had PHs) just to ride it. In the meantime, we had the one night show on WDW property Aisling had yet to see in all our trips....

Anyway, Aisling loved Fantasmic. It will be a must-do for her from now on. Although next time she really would rather that we skip dinner and get one of those new dessert trays. :) After the show we headed out to our quick boat ride to BCV. Aisling nodded off (shocking!) and I took the quiet moment again to update the FB world ;)

Looks like I'm losing readers quickly! Better get moving again!
Day 4 (Monday, August 22nd) was our first Epcot Day. Being the good DISer, I had figured out how to get around the secret back pathway instead of walking all the way out to the main Boardwalk entrance of Beach Club. Randy and Aisling were pretty impressed. They also had NO clue how close we were to Epcot in general so it was pretty thrilling to show them. Although this then set up Aisling to "just run over quick to Epcot" whenever we had any down time.
At this point in the trip, we were desperately in need of a morning where not a single alarm was set. So that's what we did. We didn't wake up terribly late but we took our time getting ready and having breakfast in the room.
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Epcot%20Day%201/278.jpg
We ended up getting to Epcot at about 11. Not too terrible. However, at that point, we figured that we better head straight to the Land to get FPs for Soarin. The wait time wasn't too terrible so we decided to ride and Randy went to get FPs. Somehow we got separated. Aisling and I went through the entire Soarin' line expecting him to try to catch up with us but he never did. And our phones were not working so Aisling and I went ahead with our plan to ride.
We got done and realized that Randy must doing single rider. Because of that, he had a fairly short wait and only ended up in the 2nd group after we got off. When we finished, we headed over to find out about doing the Behind the Seeds tour. We have a vegetable garden at home and Aisling really wanted to do this. Since it's one of the more reasonable priced tours (and we got a Disney Visa discount), we decided to do it. The morning tour was about to leave but we had a lunch ADR so decided to come back after lunch. A note if you want to try this tour. It doesn't get very full so you can book right at the beginning of your tour...no ressies required.
We decided while we were in the building that we would sit down and cool off on the Land ride. At some point in line, I texted Erin to see if we should wait for them. I never got a text back so we just went. Turns out, poor Erin and Olivia were standing for God knows how long in the Land waiting for us to get off the boat but we had completely missed them :sad2:

Love your Fantasmic pictures, in all of our trips with Maddie we still haven't seen it, we are really going to try this year :thumbsup2!!!
That Kidcot Stop looks like the one in Canada, we spent a lot of time cooling off there in the shade last year.
How did you find the crowds? We are thinking of going next year the last week in August before school starts, and I am worried about crowd level.

The crowds weren't too bad. Actually this day at Epcot I noticed a big drop off. The first weekend of our trip was really packed but Monday came and it really wasn't too bad. It was definitely busy, don't get me wrong. You still needed to make smart use of your FPs but it was manageable.

Le Cellier is now a lunch restaurant for us. Although we've had really good luck here and always get yummy meals, it's no where near worth 2 credits for dinner. If lunch goes to 2 credits, I doubt we'll eat there anymore.
Anyway Randy and Aisling continue to color with *gulp* Sharpies (Dear Disney, please get a contract with Crayola, Love Moms everywhere)

So I mentioned that I amused myself with Canadian trivia. Unfortunately I was standing next to the most obnoxious family ever. The kids would just scream out all the answers without waiting their turn. If they didn't get picked, the would SCREAM that they knew the answer too and demanded the stickers they were giving as prizes (you know those Mickey head stickers that you end up with a thousand of by the end of your trip???). And the kids were older so they definitely should have known better. One would think that mom and dad would jump in to correct them. Um nope, Dad would also complain if they didn't get stickers. He also made fun of every wrong answer. And if you his obnoxious kids got an answer wrong, he would tell them "I don't think they guy is right." I wanted to back hand him :rotfl2:
Well the question...how many Canadians are French speaking? Nobody knew the answer. I casually said "about 1 in 4 I would guess" The guy turned to me and laughed and muttered under his breath about me being an American. Luckily for me, the CM heard me and asked "ma'am did you say 1 in 4?" I said that I did and the man laughed at me again. The CM handed me my stickers for being right. :teacher: And I turned to the King of Canada and just smiled. His response...."they are wrong, about 80% of Canadians are French speaking" I spent the rest of our wait praying that we wouldn't be seated next to them.
And my prayers were answered :) We had gotten to our ADR about 20 mins early and were seated about 20 minutes late so Aisling and Randy had plenty of time to work on their Duffys. At some point, I finally received a text from Erin. Poor thing was still waiting for us. I felt so bad telling her that not only were we NOT still on the boat but had already done the Seas and were now in Canada!
At that point, I needed and deserved, something alcoholic ;) Shockily, I had yet to have a Pina Colava on this trip yet so that was my choice
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Epcot%20Day%201/349.jpg
I also got the Red Maple (Raspberry smoothie with Sprite as my drink but that was really for Aisling)
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Epcot%20Day%201/350.jpg
Lunch was steaks all around (I had the Mushroom Filet, Randy had the New York Strip, and Aisling had the Kids Meal Steak)
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Epcot%20Day%201/353.jpg
0ur waitress was so unbelievably sweet but slow as molasses. Our ADR was at 1pm. At 2:15, I was panicking that we would not make the 2:45 Behind the Seeds Tour because we still hadn't even ordered dessert. I ordered dessert and asked for the check at the same time. It was close to 2:30 when they arrived...which I was annoyed about because there are only 3 desserts on the menu, you KNOW they are pre-made and she just needed to run to the kitchen and grab them. However, it turns out, they were making it pretty. Unfortunately we only had about 2-3 minutes to inhale it because I knew if we didn't get out of there by 2:30, we weren't making the tour.
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Epcot%20Day%201/354.jpg
I squared up the check and had Randy and Aisling run up ahead to pay for the tour. Unfortunately I had forgotten how slow 7 year olds can walk to I easily caught up to them ;)
What do you think? Will we make it????

OK, since I haven't been on the DIS in days, let me start my commenting!
For dinner at Sci-Fi Aisling had plain buttered noodles (not sure about the side), and both girls got the Tinkerbelle cup with the light up Tink. I also have to say that Aisling was super sweet and read the menu to Olivia and helped her decide what to eat. :lovestruc Livy still thinks it was really neat the the two little ladies got to sit "alone".
As for that whole morning of texts (or lack of) in Epcot, I am convinced that the Land pavilion eats texts! It really wasn't a big deal at all! We really weren't sitting there for hours like you are making it sound!!! We needed the little break since we had been up early for our princess breakfast.

I loved the Behind the Seeds tour. My mom and I did it together last December. There was this awesome plant that if you touched it or breathed on it that it would close. Did you get the little activity booklet they give out? It had plans to make a hydroponic garden. I tried it, but didn't have the patience for it. :rotfl:

OK, just a question- so if you order an adult meal for your 9 and under kid, it still counts the same as if you had ordered them a child's meal? Good to know! My DS is 9 and really not little enough for the kids meals anymore so I'll have to remember this tip! Unless I am misunderstanding?

I was wondering if perhaps he was from a DIFFERENT Canada :rotfl2:
Well at least you know what my kid was eating :rotfl2: The Land definitely has an issue with texts...remember we lost Randy later on that day and he couldn't hear the texts???
I loved the Behind the Seeds tour. My mom and I did it together last December. There was this awesome plant that if you touched it or breathed on it that it would close. Did you get the little activity booklet they give out? It had plans to make a hydroponic garden. I tried it, but didn't have the patience for it. :rotfl:
Well if we MADE it to the tour we might have gotten the booklet :rolleyes1 Aisling took everything they would give her!
I know I read your last update and I could have SWORN that I commented on it. :confused3
I can't stand obnoxious people like that who think they know EVERYTHING. So annoying, they shouldn't be allowed into Disney.
I never understood the whole coloring with Sharpies thing.
Your lunch looks fabulous but I have to agree the last time I ate at Le Cellier it was forrrreverrrrr slow. I don't like to be rushed but too slow is just as bad as being rushed.
I find it weird that when there is a clearly a backup on the ADRs that they aren't instructing the waitstaff to rush people. I can't even imagine how late they were running by the time we left but they entire hallway was completely filled and the outside area was packed up the path.
OK, just a question- so if you order an adult meal for your 9 and under kid, it still counts the same as if you had ordered them a child's meal? Good to know! My DS is 9 and really not little enough for the kids meals anymore so I'll have to remember this tip! Unless I am misunderstanding?
Well...technically the answer is no. You have to order a 9 year old a kids meal. Now, if that child wasn't with you when you order that CS meal, it would be hard for them to tell (and the credits are all the same). It's trickier at TS restaurants. They ask their age when you make the ADR and now they ask AGAIN when you check in. So you would have to tell them they are 10 to be able to order adult meals. But then you would have to buy park tickets too. Which is why we tend to eat at a lot of buffets because Aisling is just NOT a fan of kids meals.
Woah! Those know-it-all son and father were very annoying. And wrong! LOL
I did feel a little sense of glee when they handed me my stickers ;)

Of course we made the tour...us Smiths walk fast when we have to! :rotfl:
We got to the tour spot just in time. Which means that you literally can pay for that tour seconds before and be FINE if you ever want to do it. Which I would recommend. It really was neat and informative.

For order of business is the bugs. Aisling was picked to release the ladybugs. If you don't know why they release ladybugs, I won't ruin it but let's just say Aisling is now obsessed with finding some when we plant our garden next year

I have one question every year about this ride/tour. WHY don't they sell the molds? They would make a fortune. Even Aisling was eager to eat a Mickey Head Shaped Cuke
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Epcot%20Day%201/363.jpg
Seriously, ever year I come back thinking that THIS year someone at marketing will smarten up but alas no molds for us
Disney is the Guinness Book of World Records for their tomato tree....who knew?

Aisling took FOREVER to release her ladybugs. She wanted them all placed perfectly.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Epcot%20Day%201/370.jpg
Now I will warn you that this tour runs 30-40 minutes OVER what the guides say. So if you do plan this tour, plan it when you have plenty of time at Epcot.
When we finished up with the tour, I had one task in mind. BELLE! We had to go meet Belle in her "blue outfit" Which meant walking all the way back to WS quickly AGAIN. I checked the Mobile Magic App and she was due out in about a 1/2 hour so I wanted to get there quickly. So off we went.
We did stop for some PP pics

We arrived in France and Aisling and I hopped in the REALLY long line. Daddy went to get a treat for Mama
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Epcot%20Day%201/374.jpg
Aisling started crying pretty quickly after we got in line. She stated that she had a really bad headache. Now Aisling unforunately gets migraines. But I know her symptoms and this did not seem to be it. I figured she was probably dehydrated. Randy grabbed her a bottle of water but she wasn't hearing it. She kept crying. Now before you worry that I'm a horrible mom...she did want to meet Belle so she was voluntarily staying in line but tears were just streaming down her face. A CM was walking up and down the line with updates and saw Aisling's tears. She asked what was wrong. We explained she had a headache and would be ok. She pulled Aisling out of line and explained that Belle was coming out first alone and Beast would be joining her in about 10 minutes. She told Aisling that if she was okay with just seeing Belle, we could skip the line
Not surprisingly, Aisling said yes. And oh my goodness WHAT a Belle this was. She was SOOOOO good. Headache completely forgotten for a few moments!!!!
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Epcot%20Day%201/376.jpg
She made SUCH a big deal of Aisling's outfit. The highlight is when she told Aisling that she was going to have Mrs. Potts sew Aisling's pictures on HER apron. Aisling just eats this stuff up!!!

When we finished with Belle, Aisling started complaining about her head again. And it started to rain...again. So we ran for the boat launch to go back to FW (we still had those FPs for Soarin). On the way, Randy decided it would be a great idea to get a RED Kaki-Gori to cool off the little girl in a mostly WHITE custom. Do you see where I'm going with this????
And this is what led Kristine to have the moment that I'm least proud of during the trip :rolleyes1

Thank you!!!! Most of the patterns on here are from YCMT.com. All of CarlaC's patterns are fabulous. If you want a great Disney pattern, try the Simply Sweet. You can really make it into any princess dress/top you want. Plus it goes to size 8 but Aisling is bigger than that and it's easily upsized so it will last for AWHILE

Well Jen called it! Kate Gosselin actually would have had NOTHING on me. Before I get to that though, I forgot to share Aisling's "kiss" pic from last time. I will clarify it's a kiss mark before you think that this CPS worker beat her kid ;)
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Epcot%20Day%201/388.jpg
Anyway, we had a crying Aisling again so Randy went off to get a Kaki-Gori and came back with the bright red one. I immediately gave him the LOOK. You know the look that says "are you the dumbest person on the planet???" Anyway, Aisling started drinking it with no issue sitting on the bench. As I mentioned in the last update, it started to drizzle a bit so we decided to take a boat to the front of WS. I had gotten a text from Erin that they were coming back to Epcot. As we got up to go to the boat....disaster struck. RED everywhere. Down the WHITE tank top, down the WHITE Apron, along the WHITE ruffle, on the WHITE Crocs. Everywhere. Randy immediately ran for napkins but they were no use.
Being the prepared DISer I am, I had a Tide pen. But it was the travel size and did NOTHING due to the size of the spill. I turned into a lunatic. My kid was crying, I was fuming. It was not pretty. I tried using baby wipes (yes I still carry these around despite Aisling turning 8 in 2 weeks). No use. I swear the less I was able to get out, the more I fumed. Randy gave me that look back (the one that said "you are acting like a horrible person STOP") So I did. But not before I seriously texted Erin to see if she wanted to be seen with us with Aisling being a mess ;) :rotfl2:
Aisling's tears exhausted her and she fell asleep AGAIN on the boat. But it must of helped because she never mentioned the headache again
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Epcot%20Day%201/390.jpg
We ended up heading to the Duffy store near Mexico to avoid the on and off sprinkle. Erin met us there. One of the CMs took a liking to us and had Mickey and Minnie call me with the Happy Anniversary call. How can you stay mad after that?
Aisling was happy to have her little buddy back. I was careful about the pics I took to try and avoid pictures of the spill. Erin however has some ;) I'm fine with her sharing them now after the fact!

I believe we headed straight to the Land to ride Soarin'. After getting back from our trip to California, we decided that everyone was hungry so we should eat at Sunshine Seasons. Now we have never eaten here and I just don't know why. There were sooooo many selections.
However, I fell in love with this baby
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/Epcot%20Day%201/396.jpg
OMG!!! So good!!! The potato salad is what my family calls German Potato Salad but I know there are different names for it. It's got a vinegrette dressing on it. And the turkey sandwhich was SOOO good. Really fabulous CS place. Aisling got the Pizza Panini. Also this place had a couple of other options for sides (like Danimals yogurt) which was very thrilling to Aisling. For dessert I got this (if you are keeping track- yes I did eat creme brulee twice in one day)

When we got off TT, we still had a bunch of FPs. So I set out to find a group of 3 to give them to. This was no easy feat. Seriously, people are really scared at Disney if you try giving them anything. I offered them to several people who ran away. Finally I found a family from Ireland of all places. They were so excited but then admitted that they didn't know what FPs were :confused3 So I had to explain how it worked to them. I really think they thought I was joking that they could skip most of the line :rotfl2:
Oh well. While I was explaining this, Erin had the girls take PP pics

(Luckily Olivia was hiding the stain!)
We decided to head out of Epcot at this point and go watch the movie on the beach at BC. Tonight was Beauty and the Beast. Weird coincidence. Erin and Olivia stayed with us to watch. Erin gave the girls glow sticks to play with (although Olivia was far more interested in the sand). Randy got us drinks in our refillable mugs and then headed upstairs to watch a game. Erin and I stayed and gabbed during the movie. I do have to say that the timing of the Beach Club movie is a bit rough with Fantasmic at 8:30 and Illuminations at 9. You could barely hear the movie over the fireworks. But the girls were clearly too tired to be bothered.

And to get us in the mood, we had a little friend hanging around when we got back to the room

We all have moments like that, especially at Disney. No biggie. You have to give Aisling some ammunition for when she is adult and she says, "remember when..." :rotfl2::rotfl: And then you can go, "Yes but remember when you..." It's the give and take between mothers and daughters.

Thanks for asking about my trip - guess you didn't see my ticker, but we are going in a little over 3 weeks - downside, no CRT (daily calls and still no luck) and we had to wait for our trip, upside MVMCP! Gotta love a Jersey Week that is later than normal (Jersey schools have the 1st Thursday and Friday off for teacher's convention, but this year, they moved it to coincide with Veteran's Day - so, with only 3 school days in the week, Disney becomes "Jersey Week"). Can't wait to read more - and I would be the same with the red on the white - I hope it came out!

Randy did NOT get it on video thank God! The TT pic is taken just when the doors are about to not open I believe. Apparently it fools me every time!
Kristine, I truly apologize for falling so far behind. I was back on page 6! But I determined to catchup this morning before I started my day. I absolutely love all of your Disney adventures. Sounds like crazy weather with all of the rain! Wow! Can't believe one of the monorails was hit!!!!! I've never heard of that before...hope no one was injured! :love:LOVE LOVE all of the customs and the fun character meets and pics! So glad Ash had a little friend to have fun with! Glad Ash's headache subsided. Sorry about the stain...hope it came out. I am taking the girls by myself in Feb...I know we won't be able to see and do so much....my kids wimp out when they're tired......Ash is such a trouper! :thumbsup2She is such a fun kid! :yay:Enjoy!!! Hopefully I will be able to keep up from now on....my crazy job is exhausting me!:teacher:
Oh Aisling has mastered the art of the Disney cat nap, that's for sure! You are the brave one doing the trip alone ;)
Oh I missed the little words that said it was cancelled :sad2: Yikes. That really stinks. Although seeing the Christmas decorations may be worth it! Have you eaten at CRT before?
Love the trip report! I am so sorry that your adorable custom had a little accident. Hopefully the stains came out. My daughter will be seven this year and I still carry baby wipes and even lotion her up with baby lotion. Hmmm.... I guess I am still trying to hold on to my baby.
Baby wipes are just so convenient. Who wants to run to the restrooms to clean up and waste valuable park time ;) :rotfl2:
Wow...you guys really did a lot!!! Those pictures with Belle are priceless....so beautiful!! And good thing you got the pictures before the stain!!:thumbsup2
Thank you! We did have a long day that day. I forgot to mention that we hadn't planned on staying at Epcot all day but it just worked out that way.
Congrats on your 9 yr anniversary!
I'm glad you survived "Gosslingate". Hopefully the dress is still intact.

Don't know how I missed the last update.
Love the pic of the girls sitting on the beach, it looks very professional. Also, what exactly is the towel animal on the hanger? A turtle?
Also, my mom told me after reading your TR that I used to fall asleep on the boats all the time. Apparently the sound of the motor lulled me to sleep. And sometimes it still does.

The towel animal is a monkey. I only know that because my mom and I went on a cruise in April and we got a monkey then too. Apparently they always have the monkeys hanging!
I think motors do lull Ash to sleep. She is one of those kids who konks out the second she gets in a car too.

Well after that long day at Epcot (and if you are keeping track...yet another day we didn't get to use SAB), we unfortunately did NOT get to sleep in on Tuesday the 23rd. We had an early morning ADR at....
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/AK%20Day%201/112.jpg
Now Randy and Ash got way more sleep than I did since someone was up working on that stain ;). And I'm happy to report that a FULL (2 wash) packet of Tide on one outift later the stain was GONE! Not even slightly pink! Completely gone! I was totally shocked. So if you have a Kaki Gori incident in the future, I can assure you that Tide will take it out.
Anyway, I had to hop to it this morning so we could catch an early bus to AK.
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/AK%20Day%201/107.jpg
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/AK%20Day%201/108.jpg
Now when I make breakfast ADRs, I like to make them right at 8 so that we are finishing up in time for rope drop. We got to the AK about 7:20 but had to wait until 7:50 until they let us in. I find this so odd as Tusker House is a hike from the gates. Guess they are really trying to minimize the opportunity to take pics in the empty park ;)
But of course, I did anyway
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/AK%20Day%201/109.jpg
We made it to Tusker House on time but they were having some issues with large groups showing up without their whole group or something so check in was a bit delayed. Nothing too crazy though.
I did have time to stop and take a pic of Aisling's Safari Daisy bows though
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/AK%20Day%201/113.jpg
We took our pic with Donald...which I would never pay $30 for...and got seated quickly to start drinking massive amounts of that addictive juice we had. We had another really good waiter here (wish I had wrote down the names). I think he was an actor/waiter type because he was very animated for 8am!
If you haven't been to Tusker House...it is a gorgeous buffet
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/AK%20Day%201/114.jpg
Aisling was starving and consumed her entire breakfast before the characters started coming around
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/AK%20Day%201/115.jpg
First up was the Mouse himself.
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/AK%20Day%201/117.jpg
Now the next one I need to explain. Sitting at the next table was a 40ish couple with their extremely developmentally delayed sons. We thought they were twins until the waiter came with a cupcake for one of their birthdays. These boys had all kinds of tics that caused them to jump and scream constantly. And yet the parents were as cool as a cucumber. I was really in awe of them :thumbsup2
So next up was Daisy. She had gone to their table first but they clearly weren't done with her because they decided they kept wanting to jump in our pics. At one point, Daisy all but whacked him to get him away. Here is the one good pic we got
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/AK%20Day%201/121.jpg
Here are how the rest came out :rotfl2:
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/AK%20Day%201/119.jpg
Daisy was very happy to see herself on Aisling. She made a big deal of it. I'm guessing that Daisy doesn't get many customs...bet she loses out to Minnie every time
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/AK%20Day%201/123.jpg
Goofy was last. I always love how huge he is next to Aisling (who is really tall for a 7 year old)
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/AK%20Day%201/125.jpg
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/AK%20Day%201/127.jpg
We paid for this meal OOP and it was as insane as all Disney meal prices are ;) We always do the meal plan so I really had stopped paying attention to how much the meals had gone up but they really have. This breakfast cost about $80 for the 3 of us. I also noticed that we were charging $40-$50 to the room daily for meal purposes (adult beverage each and tip). That is kind of crazy. I did save my receipts so I can do the math at some point about the cost effectiveness of the meal plan lately.
But enough about math. We were heading to the ride we always do first at AK. But not before we stopped and took an illegal picture of Donald (there was nobody in line so it's not like we cut or anything ;) :rotfl2:)

How nice of Dais to really focus her attention on Aisling.
I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but do you sow all her outfits yourself? They all look so GREAT!! :thumbsup2 I can't even sow a straight line to save my life. It's the one class in high school I almost failed (home economics) because I spent my whole time "unsowing". :lmao:

Ugh, my internet is being so slow so it took a while to load your pics. (i'm uploading a video to Youtube) but I love love love Aislings customs. I wish I had to time to do little crafty things like that. And I'm going to guess Kilamanjaro Safaris. If you're like me, I love the safaris in the morning. It's a big reason why I want to stay at AKL one day to do the Sunrise Safari.

I love the Daisy custom, very cute. Poor Daisy misses out to Minnie all the time I bet.
Aisling looks postively teeny next to Goofy. It's crazy to see that since she is such a tall kiddo.

I thought it was very generous of you to be so nice about those boys spoiling all of your pictures. While they obviously couldn't help themselves, it's still irritating when you spend that kind of money for a meal so you can get great character pictures and then they are ruined. Those parents probably are saints! Whenever I see that situation, I am always reminded to be thankful for what I have-healthy kids whose behavorial issues are of their own making ;)

Ok based on the pics of Ash with the "stain", you totally did pull a Kate! I know its a handmade custom but that doesn't look so bad! Maybe its just the way the picture was taken but I was picturing her completely red! Glad you got it all out! Way to go! :thumbsup2

Sending apologies to my readers. FB people will know that I ended up with major backpain last week and overall yucky feeling. I have two herniated disks so it's not that unusual. Well turns out it wasn't my back. Ended up in the ER over the weekend with Kidney Stones, Cysts, and really low hematocrit. I don't handle pain meds well but they were necessary at the ER so they shot me up and then I ended up with an instant migraine and became violently ill  So needless to say, I have stopped taking any pain meds which means I'm not feeling great. But I will update as soon as i'm feeling better, I promise.

Anyone still with me? Unfortunately, my health issues continue but that is always the way with me, go in for one thing and find out 3 other things are wrong :headache: However, I managed to at least finally pass the darn kidney stone today. (if you are keeping track, yes that is 11 days after I went to the ER). I am very fortunate that is was 1cm which is what many urologists would say is the biggest size you can pass without surgery (thank God for small favors I guess!) To celebrate, I’m offering a BIG UPDATE
When I left off, we were heading to the ride that always comes first at AK....the Safari. Now that the weather is turning colder, it may be difficult to remember how hot it was in August but we figured that if we didn't get on that safari, we weren't seeing many animals...it was HOT!
So this part of the update will be filled with pics of all the animals us DISers have come to know and love :thumbsup2

At some point we heard from Erin that they had arrived at AK so I met up with her and Olivia while Aisling did those Explorer Station things with Randy. One of the most hilarious moments of the trip occurred while I was walking with Erin and Olivia. I was wearing my Anniversary button (as I was for the whole trip) but Disney being the gay-friendly locale it is...apparently we confused a few folks. A very nice CM congratulated us on our marriage :rotfl2:
First up for the group was a little Dinosaur action. I have to say that Aisling has hated this ride for years and refused to ride it. But she put on a brave face for Olivia who was a first timer.

Holy cow! That was quite the update!!! I literally just sat and laughed alone on my couch at the reminder of our anniversary!!!! I think I may have woken Olivia up!!! That was quite funny moment! Right up there with Aisling's comment when we got off Soarin "I love the smell of the ocean when you are flying over the water"! She killed me with that one!
Dinosaur was SO fun that day! I really loved how Ash was so good with Livy and told her it wasn't too bad at all! The pic cracks me up every single time I see it! Everyone looks terrified...except for Olivia!
I still cannot believe just how WET the girls got on Kali!!!! I don't think you could get any wetter than they did!
We had such an amazing time with you guys! It is still hard to believe that we had just met! Olivia still talks about Aisling all the time and actually wanted me to send her an invitation to her birthday party in a few weeks! I had to explain a million times that it just would be feasible for you guys to make it...even though you can "just hop on an airplane and fly down to Florida, for real quick".

Wow, so many wonderful pictures! I love that close up of the gorilla and all of the FOTLK pics. The Dinosaur picture had me cracking up!
You seriously would think that I had never been on that ride and didn't know what was coming! Or that Tyranadons are real :rotfl2:
Great safari pics! Funny about the anniversary wishes! :rotfl: Sorry to hear about the medical stuff...hope you feel better soon!
Thank you! That was so funny. They really have those CMs trained to say Happy Anniversary when they see the button!
Sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well.
I just joined your TR last night and have really enjoyed it!! I love Aisling's customs! They are beautiful! :thumbsup2
:welcome: Thanks for reading!!
Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip!!!!
Aisling knew exactly who the birthday song was from!!! Tell Olivia we would love to come to her party but we are going to be buried in snow :rotfl2:
You really got some beautiful shots of Festival of the Lion King!!!
Thank you!
"Aisling in the Mist" is a very unique photo! :thumbsup2
The Dinosaur ride photo had me cracking up! :lmao: I love how Randy is paying attention to Aisling and not the ride itself. Great dad :thumbsup2
I bet the girls getting drenched felt great!
I love me some Tumble Monkeys!
Kali was a life saver that day....well until we got to FOTLK and then froze from the AC being wet!
Been following you on FB and was sorry to hear all about your health issues!! Glad to hear the stone passed (those are no fun at all)!
Been lurking but wanted to come out of hiding and say I'm really enjoying your TR!!
Loved the AK update!!
Thank you! Hopefully I'll have some answers soon. :thumbsup2

Unfortunately, the next update does not include a lot of pics....yet ;)
After we left AK, we tried to ignore the darkening skies and headed back to the hotel for my birthday present. See we had never had family pics taken and I really wanted to do them. When you use a dslr and your spouse doesn't know how to use it, you end up in very few pics. So I figured it would be nice to take some while we were at Disney. Jen and Dan had used an amazing photographer so we decided to copy cat them! And I loved the pics they had on the Boardwalk so much, I decided that would be the perfect place for some fun pics.
Unfortunately Hurricane Irene had some other ideas. ;)
At this point we knew the the Hurricane wasn't going to be a direct hit on Florida but we had a little of the wrath this afternoon. As we were driving back to BC, everyone was kinda focused on the hurricane. When all of a sudden, a man sitting directly across from me who was chatting his cell phone starting yelling "WHAT? a WHAT? In Jersey????" The man got off his phone and announced that an earthquake hit the East Coast of the US. And in what should have been an ad for smart phones, within seconds everyone started yelling out the locales of the different places that had experienced the quake. When the bus got back to resort, we called home to make sure our parents were all set. (which they were)
When we got to the room, we had a pretty cool animal waiting
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/AK%20Day%201/399.jpg
Can you guess what it is?
Now I should tell you that I am useless with doing my hair (hence the braids and ponytails every day). My hair is really thick so it takes just way too long to dry and straighten. So I knew that there was NOOOOO way that I would be doing my own hair for my pics. So I hired a hairdresser. I have to tell you that nothing else feels more luxurious than having a hairdresser come to your hotel room :cloud9:
While I was having my hair done, Randy and Aisling decided to head back to Epcot. They took nothing with them but their park tickets. As it turned out, not the best idea. At some point, I believe they met back up with Erin and Olivia. I was too lost in my own world :cloud9:
My hairdresser was Laine Smart of Beaute Speciale. She was so amazing! For someone who is used to making up celebrities and Disney brides, she was soooo laid back and fun. It took her an hour and a half to do my hair and I enjoyed every second of it.
See my pretty hair???
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/AK%20Day%201/IMAG0351.jpg
As I was having my hair done, it was getting darker and darker. And windy. Super windy. It was not looking good for my Boardwalk pics.
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/AK%20Day%201/IMAG0352.jpg
At some point the heavens opened and they didn't stop. The news was saying wind gusts up to 60mph! And Randy and Aisling were at Epcot with no ponchos. This is how they came back looking
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg269/ksc565/2011%20WDW/AK%20Day%201/IMAG0353.jpg
Needless to say, I had not planned on having to do Aisling's hair but some seriously quick blow-drying was needed
We heard from the photographers and made plans to meet in the drawing rooms at the BC. Not the plan but we still got amazing pics. We had a 2 hour session and literally about 10 minutes before the end, it stopped raining so we ran out on the beach. So no fun Boardwalk shots but we are still happy with what we've seen so far. I actually heard from the photographer that my DVD with the images was being mailed this week. We have gotten about 25 sneak peek pics. Figured I would share some of them with you (for those who haven't spied them on FB)

We came upstairs and were all dolled up with literally no place to go. We were just completely exhausted by this point in the trip. So we had a night just hanging out in our room...being lazy reading and watching tv. You know, recharging the batteries ;)

You are correct! We did end up meeting back up with Ash and Randy for a few minutes. Livy wanted one last ride on Soarin' since she was finally tall enough to ride it that trip. We got there and the line was almost 2 hours b/c they only had 1 side running...so we bailed. Not sure how it all happened, but I know there was texting you and Randy involved and we met up with them as they got off Sum of all Thrills (they couldn't do any upside down riding b/c Ash was about 1/4 of an inch too short w/ her crocs on). Since there was nothing else Livy and I wanted to do, and we had parked at BC, we decided to make the wet walk back with Randy and Ash. Livy was once again sad that we had to leave her "new best friend" and go home. We filled our mugs up on the way out and Livy reminded me "how nice Aisling's daddy was because he filled my cup up just right when we were watching the movie on the beach". She still talks about that today!
I know I already told you on FB, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE all of your pictures! They came out amazing and you all look wonderful!

Well, I haven't moved in almost two hours, although I did get up to get a snack, twice.
I was excited to see your beach club pictures! I have been inside and around the pool area many times walking by but now that I will actually be staying there I am super excited! Hoping for some pixie dust weather at Christmas as I would really like to check out SAB and not freeze to death!
Beaches N Cream is one of my most favorite places to eat! Loved the group picture! It was really cute of all of you.
You do pack alot! 10 days is along time but wow! The colored suitcase is adorable and probably really easy to find.
Yikes on your wallet issue. So glad they had it!! I thought of you when we went on our last vacation and took a bit more cash then I usually would have. I didn't have an ID once when flying to NYC or home, thank goodness it wasn't an issue, although it was also right before 9/11.
I can't wait to feel the sand!
I can't believe you have ridden the rockets. Dallas usually picks that almost first. I can handle those pretty okay even though they go in circles and I have recently learned to take a dramimine before a park day. Makes life so much better!
I am also surprised you had never seen MSE parade! I think it is really cute but nothing to go gaga over! My favorite float is Elliot! I also love that movie!
Ash's customs are just over the top adorable!! As are Olivia's. I bet they had a great time together. It is always so much more fun with a friend. On that note, don't you want you to take Ash in Jan for a few days? I need a roomie!
Your bus luck has me extremely freaked out about ever using disney transportation. I am not a big fan of it at all, ever!! It was great last January though. The boat line the one night just seems crazy! I can imagine though with no monorail and the # of people the issues!!
I think I would really enjoy the behind the seeds tour. I'll have to look into it. We all love riding through the land. I did Keys to the Kingdom years ago and that was fun. I like most though that I don't really need to have it booked. I hate having plans, much more prefer to go with the flow.
I didn't realize you were relaxed vacations like us! I love to not wake up early but to just wake up and then go. I also LOVE sitting and people watching. I think that literally is my favorite thing to do at Disney.
Wow! The rain! Rain, rain and more rain! Yuck! Glad you guys are good sports about the rain and had ponchos ready to go!
I agree, disney needs to step it up with their kids meal choices for counter service. I end up sharing my meal way more often then I would like which also means I don't get what I would really like alot of the time. Guess it won't be long until Dallas isn't a kid so I won't have that worry, then I'll just be complaining about my 10 yr old adult. Grapes and carrots wouldn't go over well with me either, nor applesauce. Yuck!! And Pecos Bills is one of my biggest annoyances. They don't have a burger on the kids meal!! Atleast the one and only time we went in there they didn't.
I love sci fi and agree with you about CM. The thought is always cute but never quite works out well how I have it in my head. Those characters zoom through that place. We only go if we have free dining. I loved Tusker House and the character interaction, but it was way too early to eat and we had a huge hold up checking in also but there were just so many people and the CM's were not friendly at all. Agree with no $35 picture.

We were waiting for the POFQ boat at DTD when we heard about the earthquake. We checked when we got back to the room saw that it was even felt here, much further up the east coast in Canada.

Day 6 was a true "vacation day"! After all the running around up til this point, we needed a down day. If you have read my previous TRs, you know my family can't handle a total day of relaxation so we had to schedule a couple of things but for the most part, this was it! Luckily the weather cooperated with our plans!
We started off the day with a late breakfast at Cape May. And like dinner, it did not disappoint. Our waitress was fabulous. As it turned out, she was a huge Boston sports fan. She pointed out where the celebrities sit when they come with their families. She also told as every celebrity she could think of who owned DVC. Oddly, I had never thought of celebrities of owning DVC :confused3

With out bellies stuffed, we headed straight out to SAB. Yup, Day 6 and I finally got to feel that weird sand bottom. I was so glad I read Talissa's TR describing it like cat litter because that's exactly what it was like. We spent all morning swimming (or more like Randy and Ash swam and I read my Kindle and took dips to cool off). The best thing about a tropical storm just passing Florida was that this day has a gorgeous breeze and was the perfect day just to sit out.
Now this day was not an example of good parenting. It fact, this day was all about gluttony ;). We had long planned "lunch" for this day and it included NOTHING of nutritional value (other than maybe calcium)
Being the crazy mother I am, I changed Aisling out of her bathing suit and into her Dessert Party custom for lunch and had her do a little posing

We had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated, which wasn't bad. Really Beaches and Cream is one of the rare TS places where you can seated pretty easily without ADRs
When we got seated, Aisling even pretended to read the menu- like there was any doubt what we were ordering

Yes it will be my first, though DH already has a 12 year old daughter. I'm very happy we got to experience the World just the two of us on our Honeymoon, and now am very much looking forward to seeing the magic through my child's eyes! :wizard: We're hoping to be able to go back once our "Peanut" is about 15 months old.

Ahhh, that kitchen sink looks so yummy! I so want to try one, but I have a feeling I wouldn't do too well with it - I have to have a pretty full stomach to eat a lot of sweets or else I get really sick, and it seems like a kitchen sink and an already full stomach don't really go together.

I don't know how I missed your update with all the pictures! :headache: Your hair was super pretty that day, I love how it was done. I'm glad you were still able to have your photo session even though stupid Hurricane Irene tried to ruin it for you.
Oh boy, that kitchen sink looks so delicious. I know I couldn't even come close to finishing it. I think the dude from Man Vs. Food should try it out! :rotfl:

I am glad you are feeling better!! Great FOTLK pics!! I also love ur family pics. they did a great jpb!! Hurray for a Kitchen Sink for lunch-awesome!!!
Thank you!!! Our day of bad eating continues below ;)
The Kitchen Sink is a totally suitable lunch when on vacation. :thumbsup2
It gets worse in terms of caloric intake that day ;)
I want to eat a "kitchen sink" with my family when we go down in June!! And I had to let you know that you have as many days left til your baby comes as we have til vacation!! We are counting down together! :thumbsup2:cool1:
Well then we'll be wishing the winter and spring away together. :goodvibes
Yep yep!! Is this your first? If so, you will now have someone to share your Disney magic with!!! I love sharing it with my boys!
CONGRATS ON A NEW DISNEY FAN!!!!!! Hope you are feeling ok!
Ahhh, that kitchen sink looks so yummy! I so want to try one, but I have a feeling I wouldn't do too well with it - I have to have a pretty full stomach to eat a lot of sweets or else I get really sick, and it seems like a kitchen sink and an already full stomach don't really go together.
ya, I'm not a sweet/ice cream kinda gal so it wasn't thrilling to me but Randy and Aisling thoroughly enjoyed it

When I left you we were swimming off some calories. Well, Aisling and Randy were. I jumped back in a few times but the pool was so insanely crowded that I preferred to lounge with my Kindle. Aisling also entered the sand castle building contest but i don't have any pics of that because the ugly clouds came out and and (stop me if you heard this before) it started to POUR. They closed to pool so back up to our room we went. I figured this was a good time to do laundry with the afternoon free so I did that while Randy and Aisling watched some TV and napped
Oh this was our towel animal today...ironically, it was also on this day that a new baby elephant was born at AK but more on that later

After lots of being lazy, we decided to head out to DTD. Now since we don't buy souvies on our trips, DTD isn't a big draw for us but on a lazy day, it was a great night to walk around. We also had big plans to continue our day of gluttony ;)

Shocking...after all that resting, Aisling still konked out on the bus

We got there and was interupted with a sight of the "real world" news so I had to stop for a pic

Aisling and I had decided to grab our dinner at Earl of Sandwich. Randy didn't know what he wanted to eat so he wandered around. He ended up finding out that you can get a turkey (*cough* emu) leg with chips and a drink as a CS meal which thrilled him.

YUCK!!!!
Now, when I was planning this trip, I had decided to cash in all my MyPoints for Landry's gift cards (which I always do before a Disney trip). I had made an ADR at TRex but then was hearing not-so-great things about it so we decided since we were eating pure junk today, we would instead use our ADR for drinks and desserts

Now as I mentioned, I'm not a sweet girl so I insisted on a salty dessert too ;)

Now it was during this meal that one of the funniest moments of the trip happened. It was also when Kristine made BIG MISTAKE NUMBER 2!
As we were eating, a man and his family were sitting at the table behind us. The man kept staring at Randy and then checking his phone. Then he would stare at Randy and check his phone ago. It was really weird. After awhile, the guy clearly knew we could see him and got up and walked over. He apologized for staring but admitted that he had been convinced that Randy was Kevin Youkilis from the Red Sox. Now Randy gets this A LOT but this guy were super excited about it. He said he was checking his phone to see if the Sox were playing in Florida (because rich baseball players eat at crap chain restaurants :rolleyes1) The guy turned out to be from NY but somehow had managed to stay alive being a Sox fan. Well he was so excited about Randy's resemblence that he ends up sitting at the 4th chair at our table and just started rambling about his lifelong love of the Sox. Literally a good 20 minutes later his wife and daughter came over and told him he had to leave NOW and let us eat in peace.
Well we finish our "dessert" and went to pay the bill. When i pulled out the gift cards, I realized my room key was gone. I tore my bag apart but nothing. Now, I had used the card at Earl of Sandwich so I knew it had to be at DTD so that shouldn't be so hard to find right????
