Will you just look at this, I said.
her: what's the problem?
me: Isn't it obvious? Look at all this light already coming
through the window!
Smidgy: Yes, nice to leave at a normal time for a change.
me: It's WRONG I tell you, it's just WRONG! And it's
getting all over me!
Diane: It's fine, for once we don't have to pretend to be nocturnal, so where's the bag?
me: What bag?
she who must not be disturbed: DON"T MESS WITH ME,
WHERE IS IT?
nebo: Ok, ok, it's downstairs.
I think.
her: SHOW ME, better yet, let's both of us walk it out to the '
car right now!
me: Really, it's ok, I won't forget it ag....
Godzilla: What part of "Now" didn't you understand?
"Do you have everything packed in it that needs to be?" she asked again.
"Yeppers, here, look,,,,,bps...ibuprofen,,,, camera,,,,eye pills....case for the aids,,,,,,,, and the vikes."
"Ok, now, walk in front of me and place it behind the seat where the bag usually goes."
"Don't you mean, "Where the sun doesn't shine", I cleverly responded.
"That was going to be my next suggestion."
"C'mon, this isn't really necessary, I'm not gonna forget.."
"MOVE"! "One, two threee four. There she was, just a walkin down the street singin Do wah Diddy Diddy dum DIddy do."
I tucked it into it's little spot behind the seat and turned around and held my hands up.
"All gone."
"Ok, so the bag can't be forgotten this trip?" she asked.
"That's the facts, Jack!"
With that,we returned to finsish up packing and getting ready to leave.
______________________________________________
The above confrontation, I mean conversation, did not happen.
Yet.
But it's waiting in the wings, oh boy, it's waiting.
That's because we haven't left yet, gotta couple of weeks away to kill for now, but I'm sure it will come out sounding close to what you just read.
It's my fault:
Last July we left at 3:30 in the morning, our usual time,
and at 161 miles away, I realized with the sickest of feelings that I had left behind my bathroom bag, the bag that contains everything in the world important to me.
After much rapid fire discussion and thought, as we're are still traveling at 70mph down the road, I realized I had to turn around and go back and get it, so exactly 6 hours later and 331 miles later, we pulled back into the driveway with me still shaking and unable to wipe that bit of drool still clinging to my chin.
Needless to say, she was not going to go through that again.
So, let me share our plans with you.
Sep. 6,7,8,,,,,,,,,,Caribbean Beach Resort with no park days scheduled, just a lot of hangin by the pool, maybe dinner at DD, and hopefully some karaoke at the Swan.
Wait, wait, come back! Ok, we'll leave out the karaoke part.
Then, 9,10, 11, 12, 13, and 14th at Bay Lake Towers, it looks like it will be with a Lake View.
And finally, the 15th thru the 20th at AKL, Jambo House, standard room.
Yep, that's 15 total nights in Disney, and would you believe it, two days after I paid the Disney MYW package, the "no going back" stage of a trip,,,,,, Universal sent us a postcard for 40% off Royal Pacific or Hard Rock.
Not sure what we would have done if we had gotten that one a tad earlier.
Oh, and about the title?
No, that's not Pirates of the Caribbean, it's P.O.T.C......I think the better acronym would be Paying off the Cards,,,as in Credit!
"On Stranger Rides" kind of speaks for itself:
There will be a few things there on this trip that we havent' seen the new versions of yet,,,,,,,new lines at Pooh and Haunted Mansion, new Star Tours ride in 3-D, new Tiki Birds,,,,, ok, OLD Tiki Birds,,, not sure what else offhand.
But there will be one huge difference concerning the "rides", and that is me, the ride down there.
This will be my 15th time driving this 2500 mile round trip, and recently I've started having some severe eye problems that will have me basically doing it with one eye tied behind my back. This is why we're waiting for daylight before we leave, and yes, it rubs me the wrong way, but, "Oh well." Before you ask, yes, Diane does most of the driving around town and such, but she's not a highway driver and it's best to leave it that way. Besides, I have always loved the drive down, I just might have to pay a bit more attentiion this time. Luckily, we know this route like the back of our hands. (wait a minute, where did all these dark spots come from?)
We would love to hear from any of you that might be down there when we are, and certainly hope you'll check in often once we get this report under way for good. I think I can guarantee there will be some blood on this trip, some pain, also, always is,,,,,,,but we can always count on a bunch of laughs, that's got to be a "Given" here or I'm not playin'.
And yes, she will laugh when later on she reads that part where I referred to her as Godzilla, right? RIGHT? :scared1:

My news is that we put a deposit down for Sept. 15-22, 2012 at POFQ for our 4th anniversary! Can't wait. It will be our first mod and non value. Hopefully they come out with free dining, cause if they don't we will have to downgrade to pop or music.

Bee, I found the pounds you lost :upsidedow At least a few of them. The create your own pasta bar at work is doing me in! Fettucine Alfredo with shrimp, YUM! And it's good for 2 meals (and about 7,500 calories)
Congrats on your weight loss, awesome achievement.
Nice to see so many familiar faces (names) here. I'm looking forward to all the stories.
Wow! Outstanding!
Lots of people checking in already, thank you, thank you.
Let's see, Dobby is correct, I did leave something out of my first intro only because it completely slipped my mind. (picture a lot of banana peels scattered around inside my head).
On explaining why this will be a diffferent "ride", I left
out the part of us quitting smoking. I have no idea what I'm going to do in the car for 2500 miles!
Plus, she now has one less chore; every time we stopped for gas it was her job to empty the ashtray.
This will really be strange, not running to our favorite smoking spots in the parks, or getting up from the lounger by the pool and looking for the DSA.
Yes, we are taking the Santa Fe again, this will be number 12 to Disney for the truckster.
And one time to Niagara Falls. (how did that get in here?)
Which now brings us to why I don't like doing pre trip reports.
I'e got two weeks to kill sitting here trying to keep your attention,,,, what do I write about?
I've got a feeling it's going to be two weeks of us staring at each other:
"Hi"
"How are ya?"
"Anything new?"
Ok, let's see,,,,
This trip was born in Disney, during a really crappy trip last December. Crap, born,,,,,,see? Origin of the Feces!
sorry
We went from doing battle in July with the Brazilian Tour Groups to freezing our buns off in early December.
It was near the end of the Dec. trip we started planning this one. Then, on New Years Eve my left eye decided it didn't want to play anymore, which started an ongoing battle with my retinal specialist.
On January 25th, we both quit smoking, me from almost 3 packs a day since I was 15 years old.
Our figuring said by September we will have deserved the trip, in part from all the money we saved from not smoking.
(right, that money went right to the retinal specialist)
Back to the planning:
Friends of ours have lots of DVC points and if we could we were going for BLT and AKL.
As we are planning this, what comes in the mail but a letter from Disney for 35% off whatever we want!
I hated to pass up the PIN code, but the point rentals for BLT and AKV were still cheaper than a mod with the PIN code, believe it or not.
So, one day in Kissimmee at a Knight's Inn or whatnot, followed by 6 nights at BLT and 6 nights at AKLV turned into one night at Music and then the DVC's.
But we really wanted 2 nights at Music to make it a package and hopefully get the free quick service dining, since we needed to buy new mugs anyway.
Then the weird code came out but you had to buy the photo pass thing for 99 bucks,,,, I tried to get it without the photopass but no luck.
However, since we now have the manager on the line, she could change us to our first choice, Movies, for two nights, and we did.
This lasted for a whole month, until we decided to move things up a day, so I called to see if we could add a day to Movies.
We could.
Now, I have had on my dresser a popcorn can from a past Christmas,,,,this is where my extra pocket change goes when I think of it,,,,,,,for over 10 years now,
and I cashed it in.
A bit more in there than I thiought,,,,,,,521,,,,the bank took 5 to run it through their counter.
I hadn't even gotten the 4 blocks home before I was already wondering if they would let us upgrade to CBR still using the 35% off code that has now long since expired.
We talked about it, I called and they did.
We requested Jamaica, second floor.
We love CBR, yes, it's too big, but it's the cheeriest resort on property.
And that's how crap starts.
I guess that's about it for now, coming up we'll have the always exciting itinerary of where we plan to eat! MAMA, HOLD ME DOWN!

Well Hi there! :wave2: Shall we begin?
Diane: It's fine, for once we don't have to pretend to be nocturnal, so where's the bag?
me: What bag?
she who must not be disturbed: DON"T MESS WITH ME,
WHERE IS IT?
nebo: Ok, ok, it's downstairs.
I think.
her: SHOW ME, better yet, let's both of us walk it out to the '
car right now!
Have you seen "Take the Money and Run" yet? at the beginning of the show a briefcase is handcuffed to a contestant's hand and the key is given to the other. I saw this and immediately thought, "Hey, that's what Smidgy should do with Nebo and his magical bathroom bag." Now all Smidgy needs is a set of handcuffs and ... what? Don't go there? Okay, moving on... :rolleyes1
me: Really, it's ok, I won't forget it ag....
Godzilla: What part of "Now" didn't you understand?
Oh, boy. Ohhhh, boy. You just called her what? You are so going to be in trouble. :sad2:
"Ok, now, walk in front of me and place it behind the seat where the bag usually goes."
"Don't you mean, "Where the sun doesn't shine", I cleverly responded.
When you bend over to place said bag in car, please follow these helpful instructions.
1. Hold bag in right hand.
2. Open car door with left hand.
3. Release car door.
4. Bend over to place bag in desired location with right hand while simultaneously covering critical body area with left hand.
5. Be glad that it was your hand that was just kicked and not aforementioned critical body area.
"MOVE"! "One, two threee four. There she was, just a walkin down the street singin Do wah Diddy Diddy dum DIddy do."

She looked good (looked good), she looked fine (looked fine)
She looked good, she looked fine and I nearly lost my mind
See if you had just kept going, you might have survived the "Godzilla" comment, but noooooo.....
It's my fault:
Quick! Smidgy! Get a copy of this before he edits it out!
…we pulled back into the driveway with me still shaking and unable to wipe that bit of drool still clinging to my chin.
I have soooo many things I could say here… but I’ll restrain myself…
This time.
Sep. 6,7,8,,,,,,,,,,Caribbean Beach Resort with no park days scheduled, just a lot of hangin by the pool, maybe dinner at DD, and hopefully some karaoke at the Swan.
That’s it! I am outta…
Wait, wait, come back! Ok, we'll leave out the karaoke part.
Smart move.
Then, 9,10, 11, 12, 13, and 14th at Bay Lake Towers, it looks like it will be with a Lake View.
And finally, the 15th thru the 20th at AKL, Jambo House, standard room.
All kidding aside, that sounds like one mighty fine vacation! :thumbsup2
No, that's not Pirates of the Caribbean, it's P.O.T.C......I think the better acronym would be Paying off the Cards,,,as in Credit!
I feel your pain. ::yes::
This will be my 15th time driving this 2500 mile round trip… Before you ask, yes, Diane does most of the driving around town and such, but she's not a highway driver and it's best to leave it that way. Besides, I have always loved the drive down, I just might have to pay a bit more attentiion this time.
And besides, you get to terrify her too, right? "Hey Diane! Guess which eye I'm driving with now!"
Luckily, we know this route like the back of our hands. (wait a minute, where did all these dark spots come from?)
Well there ya go. Just put the Santa Fe on cruise and let it take care of the drive. It must know the way by now! :rolleyes1
I think I can guarantee there will be some blood on this trip, some pain, also, always is,,,,,,,but we can always count on a bunch of laughs, that's got to be a "Given" here or I'm not playin'.
Yup! To all the above! :)
And yes, she will laugh when later on she reads that part where I referred to her as Godzilla, right? RIGHT? :scared1:

ok, you left out the most important change, but I guess you are leaving that for later, so I will not ruin it for you. some of you already know this monumentous difference in this trip, but let's let nebo tel it in his own way.

Hunh. Funny, that's pretty much exactly the way I pictured it. Go figure! :rotfl:
On explaining why this will be a diffferent "ride", I left
out the part of us quitting smoking. I have no idea what I'm going to do in the car for 2500 miles!
I thought that's what it might be. Congrats to you guys for sticking with it! :thumbsup2
Plus, she now has one less chore; every time we stopped for gas it was her job to empty the ashtray.
I just had this vision of Smidgy standing, ashtray in hand, in front of the garbage can, with a confused 'what do I do now' expression on her face! :lmao:
This will really be strange, not running to our favorite smoking spots in the parks, or getting up from the lounger by the pool and looking for the DSA.
Oh, man! You mean you'll actually have to relax? That's horrible! :rolleyes1
Yes, we are taking the Santa Fe again, this will be number 12 to Disney for the truckster.
And one time to Niagara Falls. (how did that get in here?)
18,000 years ago southern Ontario was covered by ice sheets 2-3 kilometers (that's about 720 miles) thick. As they advanced southward the ice sheets gouged out the basins of the Great Lakes. Then as they melted northward for the last time they released vast quantities of meltwater into these basins.
The Niagara Peninsula became free of the ice about 12,500 years ago. As the ice retreated northward, its meltwaters began to flow down to the sea. There were originally 5 spillways from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario. Eventually these were reduced to one, the original Niagara Falls, at Queenston-Lewiston. From here the Falls began its steady erosion through the bedrock.
However, about 10,500 years ago this process was interrupted. The glacial meltwaters were rerouted through northern Ontario, bypassing the southern route. For the next 5,000 years the Niagara River was reduced to about 10% of its current flow, and a much-reduced Falls stalled in the area of the Niagara Glen.
About 5,500 years ago the meltwaters were once again routed through southern Ontario, restoring the river and Falls to their full power. Then the Falls reached the Whirlpool.
It was a brief and violent encounter, lasting only weeks, maybe even only days. In this moment the Falls of the youthful Niagara River intersected an old riverbed, one that had been buried and sealed during the last Ice Age. The Falls turned into this buried gorge, tore out the glacial debris that filled it, and scoured the old river bottom clean.
The Falls then re-established at about the area of the Whirlpool Rapids Bridge, and resumed carving its way through solid rock to its present location.
Well... you asked. Oh! You wanted to know how that trip got there... Nevermind.
Which now brings us to why I don't like doing pre trip reports.
I'e got two weeks to kill sitting here trying to keep your attention,,,, what do I write about?
I've got a feeling it's going to be two weeks of us staring at each other:
"Hi"
“Hey”
"How are ya?"
“Good. You?”
"Anything new?"
“Nope. How ‘bout you?”
This trip was born in Disney, during a really crappy trip last December. Crap, born,,,,,,see? Origin of the Feces!
Now we just have to wait and see how long into your trip before it hits the fan!
Friends of ours have lots of DVC points and if we could we were going for BLT and AKL…So, one day in Kissimmee at a Knight's Inn or whatnot, followed by 6 nights at BLT and 6 nights at AKLV turned into one night at Music and then the DVC's… change us to our first choice, Movies, for two nights, and we did…so I called to see if we could add a day to Movies… I was already wondering if they would let us upgrade to CBR
Isn’t that the way it always is? We’ll just spend $5 and watch a Disney DVD. Well since we’re already spending $5 we might as well make it $7… which is pretty much $10… At some point you wind up with a three week stay at the Grand Floridian in a two bedroom suite overlooking the Magic Kingdom wondering how your kids will pay for college now… Actually, that’s not a bad idea…
Now, I have had on my dresser a popcorn can from a past Christmas,,,,this is where my extra pocket change goes when I think of it,,,,,,,for over 10 years now,
and I cashed it in.
10 YEARS! I’m lucky if I can do that for 10 days! :worship:
A bit more in there than I thiought,,,,,,,521,,,,the bank took 5 to run it through their counter.
Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Are you telling me that a bank made you pay $5 to do a normal everyday banking transaction? You were charged a fee? No! Say it isn’t so! :faint:

Welcome back into the fold Nebo and Smidgy.. I'm sooo in. have missed reading about your adventures in the world. popcorn::popcorn::
We too are still recovering from freezing our butts, and other parts off last December.. We finally thawed out (of course the 100+ deg days here in Virginia def. helped that). But being the gluttons for punishment that we seem to be, we're going again in December.. this time the week before Christmas.. yep and coming home Christmas day.. (Sure hope Santa finds us). :) Oh and we're staying at OKW this time!! :)
I really look forward to hearing the stories from your upcoming trip.. Wish we could be there...
Oh and the really best part of this trip.. it's a surprise for DD9.. (well so far anyway)..

so many have returned!! and many new.. welcome!
yes, the news was about our quitting smoking!! jan. 25. some of you may remember, I found out about the actual day right here on the dis! on his trip report!. I was sitting here, having a beer or 2 or 5, happily puffing away, and read that we were quitting as of the next morning! huh!?!
and neither of us has had one since!!! I am so proud of us. (but not of the weight I've gained.)
but the money we saved .. after much thought, consideration, options. etc etc .. nah, poppycock. no debate at all. um, we deserve a disney trip for quitting.!!
(could probably afford a trip to the moon with the money we spent on cigs.)
but.. lots of new "triggers" coming up with the trip.
the most amazing thing.. we quit together and haven't killed each other!!! guess this time it's for keeps!

nebo and smidgy are going back to Disney! I can't wait. And CONGRATULATIONS on quitting smoking. You do deserve this trip to celebrate.
Oh, I'm in. I loved your last report. Okay, I'm going from memory here but a few things that stand out for me... fuzzy drink cups, Brazilian tour groups and cold weather. I hope this trip is the best yet.
Hi, I have seen your name on about a milion threads , thanks for checking in with us. yes, you got it all down perfectly.
Yay! I'm here:cool1: Can't wait to read more. I'm espceially excited becasue if you notice, my ticker our trip has moved up a whole year:woohoo: and we are staying at CBR. We are going with the pirate room. With an 8 year old it is must:thumbsup2
Janet,, I see and Augie in the siggy,,,,,look for the Beachcomber in St. Augustine Beach for a couple of beers and a sammich. How to find it? If you are heading south on A!A you need to make a left turn on a side street that heads right to the ocean. If you pass a Comfort Inn on the right two blocks down the road on A!A you went too far.

See gang? This is a great example of the evils of steroids,,,Never give steroids to the pointer of your Ouija board and then let it pick your screen name!
Hi Ouija Board, just kidding, welcome aboard!
Yay! You'll be there the same time as mini-me!
Our girl child and her boy toy are headed to POFQ on 9/11, flying down the night before and staying at my Mom's place in Kissimmee. I havent booked it yet but am planning to splurge on her and send her and the boy to Uni for the second half of that week.
You will know her if you happen to see her, it's all in the face <3
Colleen, I've missed you,,,but I have seen pics of your daughter and will keep an eye out for her.
Hello again my friend...looking forward to the many adventures of Nebo!:worship:

Kyle,, no thanks on the Maggs,,,,,, but what we really need to do is get Miguel C. on a two month bender!....or,,,, if he's on one now, get him to dry out!

Woo Hoo! :woohoo: Congrats to both of you. :yay: Keep it going my friends. Been over 4 1/2 years that me and Mrs. T have quit (at least on a daily basis :rolleyes1). We have an occasional cigar with an alcoholic drink of choice, but don't smoke cigarettes anymore like we used to. Hang it there.
Congratulations on quitting smoking - that is awesome!! Now you can just fight over the radio on the way down there for something to do. :rotfl: I think your way of thinking is right on about this trip - the $$$ you are saving should absolutely pay for a trip. Of course, I used the same line of thinking on Mark for our Dec cruise when I said I'd learn to give myself allergy shots instead stead of giving the doc $25 bucks each week, but the money I saved in a year would pay for a quick cruise. :rotfl2:

SO much admiration and congrats on the quitting of the smoking! I am sure you will be battling the triggers there even more than home but just think of all the time you will gain, too! Hey, I know - every time you are pulled in the direction of a DSA, eat a mickey bar! Or just have another drink!
And I am even more happy that you have quit together with no fatalities...cuz then there wouldnt be anymore Nebo and Smidgy, which means no more Disney plans and no subsequent TR's. And then I would be bored, and sad. And it is all about me, right? If you saw how excited I was you were starting up another, you would just agree.

NEBO AND SMIDGY ARE BACK! My life is now complete.
I am pretty sure I have read all of your trip reports and maybe even commented on a few.
This is the perfect thing to help kill time before my upcoming trip. I haven't been to the world in a whooping 4+ years. And my next will be the first time with anyone under the legal drinking age- my 2 year old son!
Bring on the fuzzy cups!

I'm so proud of you and Smidgy quitting! I wish I could get DH to quit, but this year is sister will be joining us and she smokes more!!!! So why even try....but you'll be missing some serious partying on our end!
Where do we place the wagers on you forgetting something important??? Is it a higher pay out if it's the bathroom bag again??? What are the odds????:3dglassespopcorn::

By the way, just the other week I was looking for your next PRT/TR!!!!! You read my banana peel brain!
Hey cool, lots of ol friends back in the mix.
Hi's to Heather, Dawn, Connie and Randy, Marie, who thinks she might get hurt if she came with us, Danielle, Lisa, and Babynurse who's still searching for Captain Jack's booty call.
I mean booty.
There's a couple of other screen names I recognize, just don't know the real names, hi to you too.
Nowellsl, you posted a picture of a pretty girl, then said it's not you?
Can we do this?
Use stunt doubles?
From now on I'm looking for pictures of Brad Pitt at Disney World and using them instead of myself.
( I still can't believe he and Jolie named their kid Shiloh, how long will it take in grammar school for some clever, rotten kid to realize he's struck gold if he switches the first letters of Shiloh's first and last name around?)
Tracy, you are now giving yourself a shot every week?
Definately worth a cruise!
Which brings us to the title, and yes, you won't like this.
Remember when I said it will be a "stranger ride" cuz I've got to do the drive with one eye?
Well, tomorrow is another appointment, and believe me, I'm not looking forward to it. Since this happened to my left eye back on New Years I'm running abnout 50% with having to get an injection when I see him.
I wake up in the morning sad.
By the time we get in the car I'm whimpering.
Half way there I start bawling,
and by the time we arrive she has to drag me out
screaming and pry my hands off the steering wheel.
My last visit last month started out benign, the OCT pictures are no problem, but then he wanted a batch from the OPTICAL CANON, (tm GrandBob, I believe).
This was followed by more pictures only with dye running through my arm up to my retina.
20 minutes later lookinig at the pics he was,
"Uh oh, yep, it's leaking through again, time too meet Mr. Needle again."
That was when I hit him.
"Yeah it's leaking, if you hadn't injected the dye in me it wouldn't be in the eye in the first place!"
Made sense to me.
Come to think of it, the medicine injected is in fluid form,
seems to me that's just adding to the fluid that's seeping through my macula, shouldn't we be trying to suck some fluid out, not add more to it?
Let's see, we've got 7 pounds of fluid in a five pound eye,
(substitute proper word), let's inject another 3 pounds and make it an even ten!
You realize I'm going to show you a picture, don't you?
I'll start off nice though.
Here is from just two days before the last eye doc visit,
our oldest son, Todd, made the wisest choice of his life and married Kim, I was required to rent a tux since they new last year that it was going to be an outdoor wedding in the sun and was going to hit 93 degrees that day.
The wedding was about 30 miles away,:confused3
so most ofo us stayed at a nearbye Hyatt that had shuttle service. You know how we are big on the "room views" all the time when we check in at Disney?
I had to do it, take a picture of our room view at this Hyatt in Lisle, Illinois.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/2011dvc/234.jpg
Ha ha, that makes the dreaded parking lot view at Pop Century seem like a Magic Kingdom view from the Poly.
now, here's me getting ready to leave the room, not knowing how long we will haveto shake and bake in the sun for pictures before and after the ceremony.
That big smile?
Iwas thinking open bar, manhattans, don't have to drive.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/2011dvc/236.jpg
up next is youngest son standing on the left, with grandon Jackson:
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/2011dvc/243.jpg
Remember those manhattans I mentioned?
Smidgy and I after I trained the bartender how to make them correctly.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/2011dvc/250.jpg
speaking of bartenders, don't I look like I should be behind the the bar meeting Crazy Gugenheim?
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/2011dvc/258.jpg
For those of you wondering, yes, the moustache fell off again not too long after the last December trip, I never know when it's gonna come or go.
But, now did you catch the overall theme?
Lotsa smiles, lotsa smiles not knowing what's coming two days later, although I think my left eye had a
bad feeling someting was coming again, it's already in protective mode in the last picture.
Lean back from the monitor and approach cautiously:
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/2011dvc/264.jpg
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/2011dvc/263.jpg
I wish I had been the one actually taking the picture, I would have loved to see how it came out on the "Fireworks" setting.:lmao:
I loved going up to people while wearing dark sunglasses and asking them if they minded looking to see if there's something in my eye as I whisked them off. For some reason some people didn't find that funny.
Andyway, you will forgive me my manhattans tonight as I prepare for tomorrow's meeting.
Next installment, we'll get back on Disneytrack, honest.
Oh, and really, you don't have to respond to the eye thing again, we did all that last report and I appreciate your concern, I'm not the only one with problems and I don't handle sympathy well.:rotfl:
hey, I missed one down here:

No, not me. That's my daughter and favorite Disney buddy. Most people spot her first, I just kind of blend into the background :goodvibes I like it back there!

Nebo, your eye! God bless you, drink a Manhattan or two or ten. Isn't alcohol an astringent? Maybe it will help with showing less eye leakage. At this point, what could you lose?
You and Smidgy look great all dressed up. Congratulations to your son and new daughter in law!

Just a quick post. (oh stop cheering or the next one will be twice as long and three times as painful as... well... a shot in the eye.)
Nope not gonna give you any sympathy since you don't want any. Besides you already know what I think. But gotta say I love the eyeglasses/thing in my eye routine! I would so do that!
Also wanted to say you guys both looked great all dolled up for the wedding. Yes, even you Nebo. (I'm giving out platitudes instead of sympathy. Clever, no?) Smidgy, beautiful as always. (not a platitude, just the truth.)

Smidgy and Nebo, looking good! Congrats on the nuptuals!
I'll skip the eye thing, but yikes!
Since you are all a bunch of Dissers here, I thought I'd post this for you to tide you over:
For my DIS friends:
Toured the Disney Laundry facility today (sheets, towels, pillow cases, not restaurant linens or costumes, they have seperate plants).
Some amazing statistics:
- If you were to launder all they do in ONE day 24 hours in your home washer, it would take 52 YEARS!
- The water used in one day would fill 27 swimming home pools
- Sheets in one day would stretch from Orlando to Key West
It's also frigging hot and humid and noisy there, but the engineering is amazing, all about automation, except for towel feeder people that feed machines that fold the sheets and towels, then the stacking into Metro people, the loading to truck people, the delivery drivers, and the guys that unload and sort the dirty linen coming in. (talk about some sucky jobs!!) How would you like to feed towels into a machine at the rate of about 10 or 12 or more per minute for 8 hours? Talk about sore arms!
Amazing operation, and I think the 3rd largest in the world (as in earth, not WDW)
smidgy

ok, once again, nebo insists on posting pictures where he looks good, I look like garbage. there WERE pictures taken in the hotel room where my hair looked really nice, before standing outside in 95 degrees, and I look like a sweat hog, (hmm, "someone" doesn't have the problem of humidity ruining "thier" hair....:confused3;):lmao:)
see, I "set" my hair at least once a year (or decade) whether I need to or not) I have the most boring hair on the planet. I have changed my hairstyle once in the last 30 years, I gave myself bangs inthe 80s.
I'm not one to "primp". the only reason it takes me so long to get ready is it takes me forever to dry my long hair (course, if we EVER got AIR conditioning....this new-fangled invention.. it wouldn't take so longto blow dry my hair when it's 95 DEGREES!!!!. but.. I digress)
so..I bring my hot air curlers to the hyatt(believe me, of ALL the MANY things I cram into the Santa FE for our disney trips, the hot air curlers NEVER make the cut!:lmao:)
I stand in front of the mirror.. trying to stretch my arms as far as they can, to include all my hair into these stupid little curlers... with pokey little spikes in them, and the curlers are HOT, and I'm only half way to my head with a big glob of hair, and it's falling all over the place.. definfitely NOT cooperating, and then you have to jab these horseshoe shaped "thingamajobs" around the curler, with an intensity somewhere between "trying to CAPTURE all that hair tight enough to the scalp" and "I really don't want to puncture my scalp and go to the ER 2 hours before my son's wedding". and then, there are the 2 curlers closest to the ears. which however you try to set them, BURN your ears.... OUCH! try again! no OUCH again, reset it.. Man that hurts. OK OK it's curly enough!"
and people wonder why I have had the same late 60's early 70's hairstyle all my adult life.. sheeesh!
but!!! I DID bring along an old curling iron, just for those last minute touches...
well, Nebo said, "if we hurry, we can grab a drink in the lobby lounge before we grab the shuttle" my ears (burnt as they were) perked up. I managed to untangle my hair from the instruments of torture, spray a little hairspray on my head, take a few pics and off we were!! smidgy was a happy camper. (I really could use a drink)
after we signed the loan papers for our "lobby cocktail" and headed out to the entrance, we spotted my baby brother and his wife. we shared about 20 minutes on the shuttle..upon arrival at the golf club (reception) , theywere directed to the long, winding, 95 degreesin the shade 110 degrees in the sun path to the walk through the soggy lawn (hope you didn't wear heels) to rows of chairs in the heat and humidity, (and grab a bottle of water... we'll be with you .. soon... )
WE, however, had FASTPASSES!!! into the air conditioned building!!! cause WE are members of the BRIDAL PARTY!
then we gathered in the golf club "pro" shop, for about a half hour or more.:confused3 the bride's dad was fuming, cause there was a glitch with the music, etc.
both our sons managed to get ahold of me. to ask me to hold on to their cell phones. now, normally I have a purse big enough to hold a whole newspaper. but, at disney, I wear a , yes, I admit it, a dorky fanny pack which can fit an AMAZING ton of stuff! but this little "bag" I borrowed from my neighbor fits almost NOTHING! so I have 3 cell phones jammed into this stupid little good for nothing worthless "bag"...(if you haven't guessed by noiw, I am NO "fashionista") (good thing we quit smoking, cause the smokes would have made the list before the cell phones)
our grandaughter was there, (the flower girl only 3 years old, looking so cute,(daughter of the best man) and behaving so well, as well as our grandson, 5, Jr. groomsman,(son of the groom) so handsome, etc etc. waiting, waitng, knowing all the guests are out there , dying in the heat., sweating
ok, FINALLY, the glitches have been resolved. no more delays, everyone get in line. time to finally PROCEED (you'd think it was PRince charming and Aurora!)
me(thinking): "gee Kaylee's hair looks so cute (our grandaughter). Laura (our DIL) did a great job with her hair! how did she Do that? I know NOTHING about hair, I'm such a clutz! kaylee looks like she just got out of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique! wonder is Laura used a curling iron... um.... curling iron.. umm ooops uh oh!! yikes!!! steve!!!!!!!!
oh NO!!! I never used that curling iron, NOR did I unplug it!!! and it's old.. really old, no auto shut off. I'll burn down the hyatt.. what do I do now? we're about to FINALLY do the "processional" call the hotel.. what's the number?how do I know? dial 411 on my phone.. aargh! phones are falling out of this stupid little "bag", all jammed in! cell phones flaling all over the floor. steve looking at me like "what's wrong?"
well, why not let HIM worry , too? "I FORGOT TO UNPLUG MY CURLING IRON!"
I'm sure any steam coming out of the curling iron couldn't hold a candle to the steam coming out of nebo's ears!
wow.. I'm worried again just retelling the story.
anyhow. I managed to get the hyatt's # called the front desk told them about the curling iron, and they unplugged it.
what a relief.. it was SUCH a sinking feeling.... you know,... like that feeling when the bus drops you off for early entry at a water park and pulls away, and you realize you left the tickets in the room... (not that I would know anything about that) .....:rotfl:
ps.
nebo forgot to mention, but the guy doing the rabbit ears over his head is our oldest son, the groom, Todd. Jackson (jr. groomsman) is todd's son. (standing in front of his uncle, Jeremy, our youngest)

We have something in common too. After many years of smoking, I too quit several years back. Wasn't easy, but definitely woth it. I may not comment often, but will follow your trip closely. Have fun. Cool! Did you win an award? Were you on TV? "Today on Extra, we have Barack Obama with his state of the union address, the civil war in Syria and the woman who has the most boring hair on the planet." I bet all the girls were jealous. ::yes::
I have changed my hairstyle once in the last 30 years, I gave myself bangs inthe 80s.
You rebel, you! :rotfl:
So is it weird that I'm a guy and I know exactly what you're talking about? And no, DW doesn't use 'em. Now that I think of it, DDs don't either.
well, Nebo said, "if we hurry, we can grab a drink in the lobby lounge before we grab the shuttle" my ears (burnt as they were) perked up. I managed to untangle my hair from the instruments of torture, spray a little hairspray on my head, take a few pics and off we were!! smidgy was a happy camper. (I really could use a drink)
So you could soak your ears in it to cool 'em off?
WE, however, had FASTPASSES!!! into the air conditioned building!!! cause WE are members of the BRIDAL PARTY!
Only a true Diser would equate that to fastpasses! :lmao: Bravo, Madam, Bravo
then we gathered in the golf club "pro" shop, for about a half hour or more.:confused3 the bride's dad was fuming, cause there was a glitch with the music, etc.
I could be completely wrong here, but I get the impression that even if you'd caught the reception hall on fire (with the curling iron, no doubt) you'd be pretty laid back about it. Can't see you guys getting too worked up about "a glitch with the music".
Smidgy, "Oh look honey, our son and new DIL's wedding is going up in smoke."
Nebo, "Is the bar okay?"
at disney, I wear a , yes, I admit it, a dorky fanny pack which can fit an AMAZING ton of stuff!
Yah, me too. Body glide, band-aids, park tix, sunglasses, Jimmy Hoffa, ponchos, drink powder for water... that stuff's gotta go somewhere!
but this little "bag" I borrowed from my neighbor fits almost NOTHING!...our grandaughter was there, (the flower girl only 3 years old, looking so cute,(daughter of the best man) and behaving so well, as well as our grandson, 5, Jr. groomsman,(son of the groom) so handsome, etc etc.
Did they get along, there, inside your bag? Just wonderin' :confused3
wonder is Laura used a curling iron... um.... curling iron.. umm ooops uh oh!! yikes!!! steve!!!!!!!!
uh oh
I managed to get the hyatt's # called the front desk told them about the curling iron, and they unplugged it.
phew. :scared: okay never mind about staying calm if you burnt down the reception.
ps.
nebo forgot to mention, but the guy doing the rabbit ears over his head is our oldest son, the groom, Todd. Jackson (jr. groomsman) is todd's son. (standing in front of his uncle, Jeremy, our youngest)
Ah! I thought to myself, "Boy, that bartender's got nerve. Wonder why Steve isn't ticked at him for ruining the pic?"
Smidgy, looks like you have a very nice family... which seems to be a rarer and rarer thing these days. Thanks for the update! :goodvibes

Diane and Steve, you both looked great!! And your sons and grandson---so handsome!
Diane, I got nervous right along with you, reading about leaving the curling iron plugged in. I mean, who here hasn't done that right?!! One time I was on the road a good 2 1/2 hours driving toward San Francisco when I realized I had left my curling iron plugged in, in FRESNO, oh man.... and no front desk to call to have them unplug it! I cussed all the way back home! AT MYSELF! LOL!
Thanks again for bringing us all along!

My last visit last month started out benign, the OCT pictures are no problem, but then he wanted a batch from the OPTICAL CANON, (tm GrandBob, I believe).
Steve, I'm touched and honored that you remembered! :thumbsup2 But how did that tidbit of information slip past all those banana peels? :confused3 :rotfl2:
Not gonna comment about the eye thing, and that picture! Not gonna do it, not gonna do it...
Oh, okay. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:
The wedding was about 30 miles away,:confused3
so most of us stayed at a nearby Hyatt that had shuttle service. You know how we are big on the "room views" all the time when we check in at Disney?
I had to do it, take a picture of our room view at this Hyatt in Lisle, Illinois.
OK, small world time. The land that the Hyatt Lisle is situated on? Every last square inch (and then some) used to be my uncle's farm. Had lots of fond memories of going there as a kid. He and my aunt used to do a huge corn roast at the end of every summer. He picked the corn about an hour before everyone arrived, and threw the ears into barrels of salted ice water. Then they were roasted in the husk over BBQ pits made from barrels split down the middle. Best corn I ever tasted!
Going back further in time, part of his farm was taken under eminent domain for the East-West Tollway that goes right past there.
Sigh... good memories. OK, sorry for the tangent. We now bring you back to the previously scheduled "Ophthalmic Horror Stories". Enjoy!

ok, once again, nebo insists on posting pictures where he looks good, I look like garbage. there WERE pictures taken in the hotel room where my hair looked really nice, before standing outside in 95 degrees, and I look like a sweat hog, (hmm, "someone" doesn't have the problem of humidity ruining "thier" hair....:confused3;):lmao:)
Nebo dressed up, no tank top, no shorts, no clip clops...Now that's a sight to see...(or not see in your case).
Both of you looked terrific! Congratulations again on gaining a DIL. You have a beautiful family.
WE, however, had FASTPASSES!!! into the air conditioned building!!!
Oh good...At least i'm not the only one that uses the word "fastpasses" when referring to every day things.
is Laura used a curling iron... um.... curling iron.. umm ooops uh oh!! yikes!!! steve!!!!!!!!
I'm just glad nobody panicked...
a relief.. it was SUCH a sinking feeling.... you know,... like that feeling when the bus drops you off for early entry at a water park and pulls away, and you realize you left the tickets in the room... (not that I would know anything about that) .....:rotfl:
I was going to say something here and got distracted by work of all things...and now...whatever it was just flew out the window...:headache:

I just have to say, I'm so happy to have another Nebo and Smidgy report to read and have so many old readers here again too.
Smidgy, your hair looked great, and I hear you on the hassle of the curler.
What a horrible distraction at the wedding though to think of the hair curlers, yikes!! Glad it worked out ok.
Ok, I'm a bit dialated still but Carrie's chanting helped,,,NO SHOT!
I am an enigma to the doc though, he's not sure how or what is the best way to either fix the left eye, and/or, prevent the same thing from happening to my right eye.
The symptoms and results are the same as someone with macular degeneration, wet type and dry, but that's not exactly the case with me, for one thing I'm too young, that doesn't set in until age 65.
My situation is caused from the extreme length of my eyeball, which caused the extreme myopia but now the retina is too stretched out and getting brittle.
T he injections only work for the wet type of MD, when blood breaks through the macula but today there was no leakage. He told me he's going to rethink my situation and get back to me next week to see what our next moves should be.
ok, let me hit a few call outs now, I'll be more acknowledging with them once we get the real show on the road here.
Also wanted to say you guys both looked great all dolled up for the wedding. Yes, even you Nebo. (I'm giving out platitudes instead of sympathy. Clever, no?) Smidgy, beautiful as always. (not a platitude, just the truth.)
I quoted this not so much for what he said, but ... oh my, looky loo,,,,,,Ponzi has a ticker going! Congratulations, about time. Where you stayin? Can we come too? You should start a pre-trip report, what's 19 months to killL?
Amazing operation, and I think the 3rd largest in the world (as in earth, not WDW)
marita, thanks, that's incredible. It's the first stat that got me the most.... 52 years for one day's laundry in one washer!
Although, when our boys were teenagers they tried to come close! Even if they THOUGHT about wearing a shirt and changed their minds, it would go in the hamper.
As you can see by my join date I've been on here a while, but have very few posts. I am the ultimate lurker. I read the boards just about everyday and have read all your reports. You guys are great. We have something in common too. After many years of smoking, I too quit several years back. Wasn't easy, but definitely woth it. I may not comment often, but will follow your trip closely. Have fun. Hi Peanut, really glad you joined us, and congrats on the smoking issue too. Feel free to pipe in any time.

Greetings to you too! I hope you have a good time leading up to your March trip, I love the planning and research when you first make it official.
Before I started writing them, that's when I'd go and find a good trip report to read,,,, heck, I used to print out chapters, I'd be just ravenous for anything Disney.
Steve, I'm touched and honored that you remembered! :thumbsup2 But how did that tidbit of information slip past all those banana peels? :confused3 :rotfl2:

hey Bob, no kidding about the Hyatt?
That's funny, I had originally just typed Hyatt, then I went back and added in Lisle,,,, not sure why.
I remember the best corn I had was cooked in a huge steel tub over a campfire, and after it had reached boiling and the flames lowered a bit, a ton of butter was added to the tub, when it melted immediately it all floated on the top of the water, so you used the tongs and pulled the ear of corn out slowwwwllly and the butter just impregnated the entire ear. just add salt.
Again, that's what corn is for, right? Just a means of getting buttter and salt into your mouth.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say. Nebo probably has never left a curling iron plugged in. Clothing dryer, oven, stove, clothing iron, oh heck... just about everything else that'll start a fire? Oh sure. But a curling iron? Nahhh...

I am so glad there was no shotintheeye today! I hope your appointment next week goes well. You and Smidgy deserve some Disney relaxation.
I have a somewhat odd aspect to my right eye. My ophthalmologist gets a real kick out of it. I have a pie shaped wedge of blue color that goes into the pupil. I call it my cat eye and DH says it gives me perceptive powers. It's really weird and interesting at the same time. DH jokes that my avatar should be my right eye. It would be a tribute to Mike from Monsters, Inc.

I quoted this not so much for what he said, but ... oh my, looky loo,,,,,,Ponzi has a ticker going! Congratulations, about time. Where you stayin? Can we come too? You should start a pre-trip report, what's 19 months to killL?
Hey! Somebody noticed the ticker. Yes we have a trip in the works. DD14 came up to us just a few days ago and said, "Mom, Dad, you know what I'd like for my 16th birthday?" My heart stopped and my mind just kept repeating, "Don't say car. Don't say car. Don't say car." Then she says, "I'd like to go back to WDW." Brought a tear to my eye.
As for you coming. Yes. Although I don't think our respective DWs would survive the barrage of bad puns and cheap one liners... but that's their problem.
Where we stayin? :confused3 Still crunching numbers. Just know it'll be onsite for sure (see siggie). Thinking of ASMu family suite, POR, WL bunk bed. We'll see.
Pre-trippie? Nope. Unless I do it like you and start it a few days/weeks ahead. Do you really want to read about me whining for that long??? Didn't think so. Heck you're probably thinking right now, "Why'd I ask and when will he stop typing?!?!?"

Not sure that I have convinced hubby that seeing a man with a red eye is reason enough to go back already (really it is the wallet that is calling the shots now - I hate that Mr. Wallet !) but we are looking at maybe March or April, which is really close to our usual July family trip - so I am not sure what is gonna happen. We are the last minute let's go to Disney type - so really anything is possible!;)

I love your trip reports they always put a smile on my face. :yay:
You have been busy this year I see. I too had a wedding my daughter got married in May, in a hot air balloon. I was right up there with them and then the reception was the next day. I hate dressing up, tried to get her to let me wear a jean skirt that I would bedazzle but no I actually had to wear a dress and heels. :scared1:
I have been having problems with my eyes too. In Feb found out I had a macular hole and that had to be repaired. Had to stay face down for a week, interesting trying to talk and eat when you are face down but I took one for team and managed to do it.
Now because of that surgery I have cataracts so next Wednesday one eye done and the following week the other side done. Hopefully when I go to WDW I will be able to see everything, lol.
The grandkids and I are going to go back to WDW for the first time since Raymond passed away. We have decided to make it like a memorial trip, staying at his favorite hotel (Wilderness Lodge) and they have even told me what rides we have to go on first because they were his favorite rides. Got to love the grandkids. It will be our first Christmas trip (12/17/11 - 12/27/11) to WDW and we lucked out and got the free dining. One of these days I am going to be there when y'all go because I think I would just laugh all the time.
Now I will sit back and enjoy everything that you write.

When I was a wee lad of 10ish we had this small peekinese (pikanese? peeckanese?) dog (there, just a dog) who thought he was much larger than he was and got tangled up in our Husky's teeth. Well of course he didn't fair out that well in the end (though I'm sure he looked at me and said "you should see the other guy"). Those dogs naturally look like their eyes are going to pop out of their heads, so when I seen him and one of his eyes were hanging out... well, lets just say that I now have this aversion to anything to do with my eyes or anybody else.
So when I was reading about your eye (Steve) I about lost my breakfast... when I saw the pictures I about lost my kids' breakfast!

Hey!!! Nebo and Smidgy! Whatcha doing on page 2?
Get back there on page 1 where you belong! :rotfl2:
Bump.
Question:
Ever since my Nortons trial period ran out on the 'puter, I
keep getting this pop up message saying: "YOUR COMPUTER IS NOT FULLY PROTECTED."
Well, we are going to be gone for a long time, should I
get someone in here to keep an eye on it while we're gone?
I don't want to come home and find little Ipads on the
way due to meeting another computer on the internet!
I am so glad there was no shotintheeye today! I hope your appointment next week goes well. You and Smidgy deserve some Disney relaxation.
Yeah yeah, keep talkin.
That's Mike with one "eye".
That sounds pretty cool Buzz, I'd like to see it.
Do you remember and actress named Inger Stevens?
She passed way too soon, but she had one blue eye and one green eye.
Unlike me, I have one green eye and one red eye.
Whenever I fill out an application at the doctor or for a job, under descriptions, for HAIR: I write, "Some", and for eye color, I write, "Bloodshot".
Where we stayin? :confused3 Still crunching numbers. Just know it'll be onsite for sure (see siggie). Thinking of ASMu family suite, POR, WL bunk bed. We'll see.
A car would be cheaper than Wilderness Lodge.
One you didn't mention though, they have the same family sweets at the new Animation resort which should be open by the time you go.
wait for it...

Hugh, and only Hugh can stop forest friars.
Me, and only me and the ignore button can stop bad Ponzi jokes.
Whoever heard of Manhawkin, New Gina?

No kidding. Uncle Pete and Aunt Tracy, may they RIP. Uncle Pete was a big bear of a man. When he hugged us kids, we were afraid of being squeezed to death. And yeah, that corn was so good, we'd by pass the BBQ ribs and just load up on the corn. Yum!
Funny, me too! Let's all get together somewhere and have a corn roast! Anybody want to come out to the left coast?
-Bob
Bob, I don't want to go to either coast right now until you get their tectonic plates behaving again.:rotfl:
We'll just stay right here in the safe midwest,,,,,
with the locusts.
So glad that my chanting worked. Let's hope it keeps working for next week and forever. :lovestruc
I thought you were going with me next year in Sept! :rotfl:
Geez, just because ponzi is more funny!
Okittysquared, I'm easy, I'll go with anybody. Just show me a little fastpass bling and I melt.
Stop forest friars??
:rotfl2:
And corn roast??? I'M THERE!!!!!!!
Forest friars, sheesh!
:rotfl:
Dawn, Dawn, please don't encourage him.
And when you say funny... you mean annoying, right? Thought so.
Do I get a vote?
:dance3: Happy Dance :dance3:
I love your trip reports they always put a smile on my face. :yay:
You have been busy this year I see. I too had a wedding my daughter got married in May, in a hot air balloon. I was right up there with them and then the reception was the next day. I hate dressing up, tried to get her to let me wear a jean skirt that I would bedazzle but no I actually had to wear a dress and heels. :scared1:
Hey great! Uncle Shirley is back.
Cool, wedding in a hot air balloon. Gives new meaning to when you say ykou hate dressing "UP".
I have been having problems with my eyes too. In Feb found out I had a macular hole and that had to be repaired. Had to stay face down for a week, interesting trying to talk and eat when you are face down but I took one for team and managed to do it.
Is anybody else picturing Ace Ventura here, finding a way to talk face down? Sorry Shirley, I never heard of having to stay that way for an eye problem, but I believe you after all the weird stuff I've been through lately.
Now because of that surgery I have cataracts so next Wednesday one eye done and the following week the other side done. Hopefully when I go to WDW I will be able to see everything, lol.
Yep, aren't eyes FUN?
The grandkids and I are going to go back to WDW for the first time since Raymond passed away. We have decided to make it like a memorial trip, staying at his favorite hotel (Wilderness Lodge) and they have even told me what rides we have to go on first because they were his favorite rides. Got to love the grandkids. It will be our first Christmas trip (12/17/11 - 12/27/11) to WDW and we lucked out and got the free dining. One of these days I am going to be there when y'all go because I think I would just laugh all the time.
That sounds really special, have a feeling watching Wishes could get , um, kinda messy.
Now I will sit back and enjoy everything that you write.
You are such a silly goose!
Um, could you send that into Bantam?:happytv:
Shirley
BTW, I'm here popcorn::
Cool part two, the Missouri Cynic is checking in, great to see you Shawn, and as for making you sick?
My work here is done!
I was just thinking last week that Nebo and Smidgy have a trip coming up. Glad I found ya! 15 days! BLT and AKV! Awesome!

GB, page two is ok, it's page 3 I try to draw the line at.:lmao:
Heck, sometimes my first report was on page 4 I think, that thing was harder to find than the Dead Sea Scrolls!
That's why I'm not on Facebook.
Who wants to find out they have less friends than
Casey Anthony?

So, you know how it can sometimes feel that a day or a week is a loop of a certain theme? For me, this week has been the week of the eye. It started with your pictures, went to my cat eye, to macular issues within your TR, and ended with the horror of today.
I walked innocently into the breakroom at work to be confronted by a co-worker who is out on medical leave due to a detached retina. Said retina has been repaired, but the eye is swollen and pretty red, some five weeks after surgery to correct the detached retina. The worst part was hearing how a detached retina is corrected, by removing the eyeball! He had to lay face down for several weeks post surgery to allow his eye to heal! I wear contacts and my eyes were watering just looking at his swollen eye with the pronounced redness, but the thought of his eyeball being removed just really made me feel ill.
I will have to get my DH to get a picture of my cat eye to post. I looked up Inger Stevens. Her eyes were really unique. Nice recall Nebo!
I'm hoping to skate through tomorrow with no eye encounters of the weird or disturbing kind.

Excited to hear another report form nebo and smidgy...there's never a dull moment!! Congrats on quitting smoking to the both of you, that's quite an accomplishment, I bet the DSA's are going to miss you guys and your fuzzy cups. Can't wait to hear how the stay goes at BLT, we're staying there in march.

That is weird how they can partly remove the entire eye.
Don't know how doctors don't get grossed out.
I had my first detatchment in '75, was in the hospital for a 2 days before he would do the surgery, I had to lie there the entire time with BOTH eyes patched, they had to totally be at rest for a long time to strengthen.
Then I spent another 4 days there still patched up on both eyes before the bandages finally came off, I still have that silicon buckle in my right eye.
Ten years later I had a detatchment in the left eye.
I left work early cuz something was wrong with my eye, he found the detatchment and using a 'COLD PROBE', took care of it right then and there in his office. I drove home an hour later.
Isn't it about time for an update? ;)
Nebo said he would tell us about his ADR's.
.
You are absolutely correct, Carrie
For spending 12 nights in studios with microwaves and toasters, we're eating out more than I would have liked to do. Especially when we aren't on the dining plan, but like I said before, this is a combo trip of congratulating ourselves on the quitting smoking and the making up for the crappy frigid December trip.
Our t able service ressies go thusly:
Planet Hollywood
Saana,,,, Sanaa,,,,Sanna,,,,Sonna,,,,
Biergarten
Tony's
Prime Time
Trail's End
Saana, Tony's and Trail's End will be firsts for us, like wanting to stay at every Disney resort, we also want to say we've eaten at every restaurant there, though I might send her on her own when it get's down to just Akershus.
Meal time will go something like this:
First night at CBR,,,,food court
next day,,,Planet Hollywood using the 15 dollar off voucher.
I do like the burgers there, big and messy.
Our last night at CBR will probably be sandwiches in the room, most likely Braunsweiger on rye bread, with buttter, a side of cottage cheese and chips.
First night at Bay Lake Towers we are taking a boat to Trail's End. They say it's the same chicken from Hoop de Do, which is excellent. Biergarten is the next day for lunch, always fun trying to walk around in the pitch black in there with a full plate and a bowl of soup.
I truly am an accident waiting to happen.
I'm sure sometime whilst we are staying there we'll try Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary.
Sunday we do lunch at Tony's, this was on our list last December but got axed at the last minute.
Not sure what the main meal will be tuesday, a resort only day. Wednsday at Epcot we want to try the counter service in the back of France, crap, I'm gonna have to try to spell it, aren't I?
Boulangerie Patiserie
Yeah, that one. We went in there in December just to warm up, and boy did the sandwiches look mighty fine, along with the pastries, unfortunately we were on our way to Japan so I could make a fool out of myself at Teppenedo at the time.
I can't remember when the res is for Saana, either check in night or a couple days later on a resort only day.
This is the dicey one for me: I'm not an adventurous eater,
for me I'm stepping out on a limb if I put relish on a hot dog. I'm probably going to take my chances with the short riribs, i've heard short ribs are like pot roast, we'll see.
Maybe I'll just walk around to other tables first when we get there.
"Hey, is that any good?"
"What is that?" "May I try it?"
"EWE, you aren't going to put that in your mouth, are you?"
Prime Time this time for the first time it's splitting time.
Time out.
No, we've eaten here a few times, and the chicken here is also incredible, so are the onion rings but we never come close to finishing our meal so why not split it? Not sure how you split mashed potatoes but she can have the nasty green beans they always put on y9our plate.
I guess that covers all the reservations meals.
Some counter services we want to or probably will hit:
I mentioned France,
maybe Columbia Harbour House in MK,
DEFINATLY want to hit my favorite attraction in Animal Kingdom, Flame Tree Barbeque, the ribs are pretty good and I love getting a table next to this lagoon and watching all the animals and birds try to rip off other people's food.
Let's see, I mentioned the CBR food court and Contempo,
I'm sure we'll eat at Mara at least once, we'd also like to
try a Black Forest ham sandwich we've heard is good from
Starring Rolls at the Studios.
This exciting chapter now comes to the shopping list segment, here's what we will be eating in our room, more than likely after a day in the parks since a lot of our meals are for lunch only.
I mentioned the Braunsweiger on Rye, C'mon, sing with me, "Braunsweiger, how come you taste so good?" which was the last good song the Rolling Stones made, I liked the flip side too, I believe, although I can't type the name here, rhymes with "witch".
Sorry, I strayed.
We'll also have white bread for baloney and salami sammiches, butter, mustard and mayo.
Yes, I'm hesitant to type that word in my trip report, nowadays most people see that in one of my reports and they immediately think, Mayo Clinic.
We will also have when we're at the studio with the toaster and microwave:
tuna on toast with mayo,
cans of Chicken ala King on toast,
Beef stew
Ravioli
Johnsonville Beddar with Cheddar, smoked sausage, oh, it is so good,
Polska Kielbasa
our sides will consist of cottage cheese and macaroni salad,
for snacks,
Doritos, Cheetohs, peanuts, cheese and crackers, maybe chips, (Ruffles), a small tube/roll of summer sausage,
Twinkies, and Planters Nut Bars.
The day before we leave, I will probably grill up some burgers and hot dogs that will then go in storage bags in the cooler. We've found something like that to be a great snack inn the car, yes, no buns necessary, or needed, a cold cheeseburger or hot dog can really hit the spot.
Boy, that really sounds like a lot of food now, doesn't it?
I suppose not if you think I'm talking about for 18 days total.
Oh, and I usually pick up a couple of sub sandwiches from Subway the day before we leave to eat the first night on the way down to Disney:
a BMT or something like that I think for her and a Cold Cut Trio for me.
I have also had an elusive item I've wanted to get in the past but never gotten too, it seems like everybody has something like this. Even though we kept meaning to, I don't think we ever got our first Dole Whip until our tenth trip or so.
And first it was corn dogs, the only place you could get them was at Casey's Corner and only in nugget form on the children's menu. Now there's a stand in Frontierland, a stand at the Boardwalk, Downtown Disney and not sure where else. My problem is I'm not spending over 4 bucks for a corn dog, and the one time I did at MK, it wasn't all that great.
But this time I'd like to get my most recent nemesis that has been eluding me, a vanilla/orange sherbet swirl, kind of like a Dreamsicle ice cream bar.
i've been trying for the last 5 trips or so.
Ok, throw out the December trip, the only thing I was looking for then was hot chocolate or coffee, but before that
I was told it was at the Enchanted Grove, went there but uh uh, they didn't have them.
Next trip they said that Sunshine Terrace had them,,uh uh, "Did you try Sleepy Hollow?"
This time I'm told they are at Aloha Isle, along with the Dole Whips,,,,, we'll see. By the way, we both thought the Dole Whips are overrated.
Well, i guess that about covers it on the eating front and don't worry, even though I didn't mention them, Slim Jims will be there also.
here is the one thing I'm hoping NOT to get again on this trip, the fish I once ordered at Rose and Frown:

Not gonna comment on all your plans... more fun to rip them apart... um, I mean comment politely, after the fact. However...
Saana, Tony's and Trail's End will be firsts for us...
Our list is identical... Well at least in the sense of where we've eaten and where we haven't. We did do a princess brekkie at Akershus, though.
Planet Hollywood using the 15 dollar off voucher.

The only way a burger should be. If it's not dripping all over the place, it ain't made right.
Biergarten is the next day for lunch, always fun trying to walk around in the pitch black in there with a full plate and a bowl of soup.
If I was you, I wouldn't do that. I think you should walk around with a full plate, a bowl of soup and a coffee and dessert. Then hilarity ensues.

It's called a fin sir. And obviously the fish needs it so he can wave at you.
Oh, and BTW I did a thread a few years ago (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1431111) where I asked folks what was the worst restaurant in WDW. Pretty much every restaurant was mentioned, but the overwhelming winner (loser?) was Tony's. Just sayin'. Try it, but be prepared. Lots of people like it too, though, maybe you will too.

Tony's used to have a great Monte Cristo sandwich, but that was 30 years ago or so, LOL? Not sure if they still have that
Have you been to Earl of Sandwich? Great sandwiches and cheap
I like the flat bread pizza at the Contemp Cafe, and they have a good chicken sandwich
For going offsite for a great pizza, try Flippers at Crossroads, just to the right of Goodings. The have flips and sandwiches too. Lots of of castmembers go there for lunch. A large personal pizza with 2 toppings for lunch is about $6.25 including unlimited soda. A lot of people take about half back for leftovers
Riverside food court rocks with the create your own pasta bar (with chicken or shrimp) fettucini, spaghetti or penne with either marina, aflredo or pesto sauce and all sorts of add-ins. Lasts me for 2 meals. In fact, I blame my weight gain on that and will have some for dinner right now.
I'm with Smidgy on the BMT from Subway. Make mine hot (as in heated) with hot peppers

I'm looking forward to hearing your opinion on Biergarten, Tony's, and Sanaa. We haven't been to any of them yet. I am fairly discriminatory, heck, let's just call a spade a spade and say PICKY, about my food. Sanaa just scares me, but nothing could be any worse than that thing they served you at Rose and Crown. I am planning to try R&C in January, but I will NOT be ordering fish!
Any readers of this TR who haven't read the old ones need to do yourselves a favor and read them! They are really funny. The original account with the thing on the platter had me crying with laughter.
I love Columbia Harbour House! I haven't had anything that wasn't good there. Make sure you sit upstairs, it's usually very peaceful there. I have to agree with pkondz that there is a HUGE difference between a dole whip and a dole whip float. The pineapple juice in the float gives the whip extra zing. But try the vanilla/orange swirl and tell us how it is. They do have it at Aloha Isle, but I have never tried it.
It really sounds like you and Smidgy have some good dining adventures ahead. I'm with you on the och-ur-shuss(Akershus). I look at the menu and think, no way, not me.
And for good measure, if you do eat shrimp anywhere, make sure you remove the tails BEFORE you eat them, lest you have a repeat of the Ohana nightmare.

nebo must have forgotten.. we are bringing the ever-popular string cheese, as well as a hunk(chunk?) of cheddar cheese... you don't want to see our liquor list!
Tony's is ne of those places that keeps getting knocked off the list. I want to try it just once (I ahven't heard fgood things either. but I want to see Lady and the tramp in the back. nebo thought he would get chicken or veal parmesan. I hate to ever order spaghetti at a restaurant, since it's so easy to make at home. I was thinking either the shrimp scampi or the baked ziti. doesn't matter, nebo will probably scrap the reservation anyway.
we still haven't eaten in Italy at epcot!! we tried once, but it doesn't count. it was early in our dining plan experiences and nebo was getting all cranky about having to be somewhere at a certain time to eat. yet again (um, this from Mr. uber planner!). we oerdered appetizers (thye used to come with the plan) and there wasn't much he liked. I suggested the Tuscan soup, but the busgirl didn't speak english very well. he got ticked off. went out for a smoke, and didn't come back. !!!! I was:headache::mad:. I ate some of my lasagna, had his fettucini alfredo boxed up and that was that. then that restaurant went bye bye, and we have not tried the new one either. nor via napoli. so..... we'll see if this one stays on the agenda........(watch, I'll probably hate it..)
yes, we have tried earl of sandwhich.. liked it a lot. we were thinking of trying Wolfgang puck express. anyone like it ? hate it? (course you all see how much I listened to your advice about Tony's)
we have eaten many times at columbia harbour house. twice upstairs. nebo likes it cause it is one of the few places you can get breaded fish fillets (well, except for RandC, and yourshire) he is surprised it is hardly ever an option at the food courts at the resorts. It was riverside, I think? that had it. other than that, no where. you'd think it would be an option at pop or all stars. I get tired of burgers and hot dogs. and the penne pasta that is the only thing besides pizza available late at night.
you know what I really liked at POP? the shrimp Lo Mein.
well, any of you on the east coast.. hunker down and be safe!

YAY !!! Another Nebo and Smidgy TR !! Fuzzy cups, vikes, witty commentary ...... I can't wait to read.
Wow .... nine pages of chatter and you haven't even left home yet. Joining in. Loved all of the other reports. We will be there Sept 24-Oct 2 so we will just miss you. Super excited about our trip and hearing about yours. Please take TONS of photos of the resorts since those are the ones I can never get DVC Reservations for. Hope things work out with your eye. I would completely freak if a doctor came at my eye with a needle. There would need to be heady sedation for that to be possible for me.
PS - I always thought you should have a T-shirt that reads "Got Vikes?" LOL

That's a very good point, if they can knock you out for tooth pulling, why not for eye shots?
Am I the only one?
Hmm, I like that, for some reason, may need to make that a regular feature.
Am I the only one that noticed this?
I was clicking through the channels the other night, and stopped clicking on Goblet of Fire.
There is a scene in Harry Potter, 4, The Goblet of Fire, where Hagrid tells Ron, Harry and Hermoine, "When I met you guys 4 years ago you were a bunch of misfits", or something very close to it.
Anybody else see the problem here?
Hey Haggerz, work with me here:
This semester, or Tri-Wizard Tournament, is year 4.
One year ago everybody was looking for Serious Black cuz he was so much fun in Azkaban.
Two years ago, Harry was playing with snakes in the Chamber of a really stupid Ginny,
And 3 years ago you met the 3 of them when Harry was kicking the Sorcerors in the Stones.
So Hagrid, you have only known them for 3 years, not 4.
Hmm, wonder if that line is written in the book, I doubt JK screwed up though, but how did no body else catch it?
Excited to hear another report form nebo and smidgy...there's never a dull moment!! Congrats on quitting smoking to the both of you, that's quite an accomplishment, I bet the DSA's are going to miss you guys and your fuzzy cups. Can't wait to hear how the stay goes at BLT, we're staying there in march.
Welcome Mary, Betty, Lou and Cindy, we'll let hyou know how we like it.
This looks just downright NASTY!!! I'm waiting for it to come alive...
I am not kidding, even though that wasn't exactly my fish, mine looked identical to it, leg sticking up and all. Nebo ate a lot of bread that night. Even Jauques Cousteau got up and left.
I've also heard from many that Tony's is just "meh".
We discovered Columbia Harbour House on our last trip, it was fantastical! We will be returning there again next trip. Now if only we could discover something great in DHS.:sad1:
Hey Kyle and Shawn, we know, haven't heard much good about Tony's, but we can cross it off the list then.:rotfl:
Our list is identical... Well at least in the sense of where we've eaten and where we haven't. We did do a princess brekkie at Akershus, though.
The only way a burger should be. If it's not dripping all over the place, it ain't made right.
That's pretty much how they are at PH, nothing like the burgers in the food courts and parks, once you pick it uup, there's a good chance that if you put it down it's not gonna be picked up in one piece again. There's something I do in Disney that I almost never do at home: instead of ketchup being used on my burgers, I go for bbq sauce instead, even put it on the hotdogs from the food court, not sure why I only do this down there.
:scared1: Sacrilege! Okay... wait a sec. Do you mean Dole Whip or Dole Whip floats? Biiiiig difference.
um, I think it was the floats, and as Smidgy alluded to a bit further down, after we were underwhelmed by it at first, it was then greatly improved by the addition of Myers Rum.
Well I should hope so! Can't have a Nebo/Smidgy WDW tour without 'em! :goodvibes
You would think they would have cut the umbilical cord off that thing before they fried it. That's just gross.
How can they think that's appetizing?
Is it a Brittish thing? That's how they like it? I'm not one to talk though, I never saw the appeal of going to a pig roast and the things going around in a circle with it's head still on and then somebody has to stick an apple in it's mouth.
Ok, I gotta play,,,, hmmm,,, I'd say teh worst places we've eaten at, food wise, is Shutters at CBR, and Sci Fi at the Studios. I wasn't a fan of Captain Jack's, either, or a favorite of Smidgy's, Narcolepsy's.
We've eaten at Tony's twice, we had one fantastic meal and one not so much! I love Columbia Harbor House. Sit upstairs where the windows look out over the walkway! Good place to people watch!
Yep, like the fish basket there, and sitting upstairs.
Tony's used to have a great Monte Cristo sandwich, but that was 30 years ago or so, LOL? Not sure if they still have that
I doubt I can COUNT on the MONTE CRISTO sandwich.
(there, think I made sure on one missed that one?):lmao:
Have you been to Earl of Sandwich? Great sandwiches and cheap
Yep, we like it there.
I like the flat bread pizza at the Contemp Cafe, and they have a good chicken sandwich
For going offsite for a great pizza, try Flippers at Crossroads, just to the right of Goodings. The have flips and sandwiches too.
Ok, what the heck is flips, or flippers?
Doesn't sound good to me, my fish from R and C had a flipper too.
Lots of of castmembers go there for lunch. A large personal pizza with 2 toppings for lunch is about $6.25 including unlimited soda. A lot of people take about half back for leftovers
I've always thoght we'd try the Uno's at the Crossroads, but once I'm on property I never want to leave it.
Riverside and FQ have the best food courts on property, fish baskets, chicken parmisagna, jambalaya, and the pasta thingy you mentioned.
Biergarten is excellent, we've done it before, lots and lots of choices that you'll want to try "just a little", and your plate will be overflowing. It's just the dark in there I'm not crazty about. A lot of places are that way now though, Iwas accidentally abandoned once in Le Celleir and wasn't found again until the next morning when they opened it up.
Any readers of this TR who haven't read the old ones need to do yourselves a favor and read them! They are really funny. The original account with the thing on the platter had me crying with laughter.
thanks Buzz, I had more fun than you writing that chapter that night, and every time I hear or think of that song, I think of that fish again too.
I never, never, never, never........
nebo must have forgotten.. we are bringing the ever-popular string cheese, as well as a hunk(chunk?) of cheddar cheese... you don't want to see our liquor list!
Oh yeah, I forgot all about the cheeses.
you know what I really liked at POP? the shrimp Lo Mein.
Sure, and those shrimp you didn't have to peel, did you?
well, any of you on the east coast.. hunker down and be safe!
oh yeah.. we have enver actually had a dole whip.... we had dole whip floats .. with a little.. um.. help:rolleyes1
I think I'm just not that big a pineapple fan.
Of course you say Mayo. otherwise it would be Miracle whip.(blek)
I'm with you Kim, can't stand Miracle Whip either.
If you say mayonaise, i go all "officer and a gentleman" in my head. Not good. ;)
I can hear it myself,,,, "All right, drop and give me 40 May-O-NAZE.
Sounds like the begining of a good list. Let's see how many you cling to.:rolleyes1

Good luck to the Eastcoasters.....

Yeah, we're excited too, finally, we are staying at a monorail resort!
The "got vikes" would work great up in Minnesota with a purple shirt.
I have a humorous antidote coming up, about my trip to the liquer store this morning buying all we'll maybe need for the trip.
Yeah, I finally caught up on it. :cool1::):cool1::)
Hello Marie's daughter, glad you could make it.

The big problem with that, Marita, is that when you are out or go under, your eyes roll up in your head, I believe.

Oh, i meant to tell you, when we went to visit our son in Montana in June, we took a trip to Glacier Nat'l park. Lovely. Anyway, we were very near the Canada border and went to the welcome center for Alberta. Why does Alberta have a welcome center in the US instead of across the border when you actually get there? I have no idea how long the school year would be but let's say it runs from early September to early July (I googled British school year and that's the first thing that popped up). Hagrid met Harry before the stoner school year started, so let's say August. At the end of the stoned year Hagrid will have known Harry for about a year. At the end of the Snakes on a Plane, I mean Chamber year he will have known him for 2 years. At the end of Prisoner of Albania year he'll have known him for 3 years. The Tri-Lizard cup (Said lizard is then breaded, fried and served to... well, Nebo) seems to happen at the end of the year. So by then, Hagrid will have known Harry for about 4 years, n'est-ce pas?
Or maybe I'm full of poop and the movie just made a mistake.

There are two reasons.
1. Everything's cheaper south of the 49th, especially wood! We grow it and then truck it down to you so that we can rent trucks and trailers and drive down to bring it back, 'cause it's cheaper than buying it here.
2. By having it in the US, we can greet you and be all nice and Canadian before you get to the mean ol' border guards who won't let you in anyway. So having it on this side of the border... you'd either a) Not get to it or b) already be in a bad mood that not even our super nicety would penetrate.
nicety is a word... if not, I just invented it and everyone has to pay me a dime to use it.

I agree completely. That was my favorite book but in the movie I hated how they skimmed over stuff, but made the Hogwart's Ball last way too long.
Too bad your baseball season has come to an end like mine has too already, but at least football will be starting soon, and, um, sorry, never mind.
Heck, if they can pull your whole eyeball out, they surely can roll them back for a shot!
Can you imagine looking at the underside of your nose with you eyeball lying on your cheek?
But I was awake for most of my cataract surgery, he yelled at me the whole time to KEEP STILL, DON"T MOVE YOUR EYE
PS: maybe I can make my 10,000th post on this thread? Although I swear that the DIS added at least 5,000 to my count by mistake, I'm not a ubiquitous (do you like that word?) poster.
Yep, Ubi is a cool word, means "all around" I believe. But that count does seem high for you, from what I remember, maybe you got zapped by the "post fairy"?
Nah. They can't roll 'em back. Nebo's too busy ogling the banana peels.
Shoot, why did I quote this,,,,, hmmm,, Oh, I remember,, just wanted to say I watched that episode just two nights ago,,,,,,"Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice........"
Sidney was my favorite, along with Flagg.
Thanks, Ponzi!
. Why does Alberta have a welcome center in the US instead of across the border when you actually get there? Strange. But anyway, it was a lovely welcome center, very clean and moderns and nice, and I thought of you :).
Wow, it's not every post that gets handed to you in this way.
Let's see, welcome center, read, rest area, read, washrooms and rest rooms.
And seeing rest rooms reminds her of Ponzi. I couldn't agree more, but I was thinking of the Port-a-Johns along the highway in the construction zones.

Hey there QB, you aren't alone. I have been fighting a toothache for months now, Smidgy kept telling me to do something about it but I kept putting it off. Finally went friday to a new dentist and he said it should be pulled but he can't do it, I need to see an oral sturgeon. I really wanted this done before the trip, but now it's too close,, so I'm going to hold off till we get back.
And no, I didn't care for the last movie, or the one before that or the one before that either.
I haven't liked them as much ever since the director, Yates I believe his name is, took over. They just haven't been as "magical" to me, I much preferred, um, Cross? Was that his name? He did the early ones, Christopher Cross? Looks funny, I know there's a singeer with that name....
But fI was really disappointed with the last movie,,,when Bellatrix was fighting against Ginny in the book, and suddenly Mrs. Weasley jumps in and yells,,"You leave my daughter alone you *****!" and they go at it,, I figured there would be a huge cheer in the theater when it got to that part.
Instead, it just fizzled, like most of the huge Hogwart's fight scenes.
Okay, try this. I'm not going to look it up. I'll leave that for the pot heads... er, Potter heads to do. I may be going out on a whomping willow limb here, but... here goes. Or maybe I'm full of poop and the movie just made a mistake.
Whatever.
Well, I'll play along. The only way that can come close at all to being 4 years is if Hagrid says that line at the end of the Goober of Fire semester, then, it could be close to 4 years.
And I don't remember when in the movie that line is delivered, I think it's near the beginning, but not sure.
But numbers can be fun sometimes, eh?
Like that old thinking riddle that people would get violent over arguing about,,,, gee, how does it go again?
Oh, you probably don't want to hear it anyway.
Oh, you do?
Well, ok, I'll try.........................
3 men check into a hotel for a night, the bill is 30 dollars
and each of them hands over a ten. (no, there wasn't an extra fee for the extra adult, and don't ask why 3 men are sleeping together in one room.)
The desk clerd then realizes he overcharged them by 5 dollars, the room is only 25 a night and gives the bellhop 5 dollars to go and give back to them.
In the room, they decide there's no easy way to split the 5 dollars amongst the 3 of them, so they each take one dollar, and give the other 2 to the bellhop as a tip.
This means they now have each spent 9 dollars on the room.
Ok, 9 dollars, times the 3 of them is 27, two dollars to the bellhop makes 29!
WHere did the other dollar go?
Have fun.
There are two reasons.
1. Everything's cheaper south of the 49th, especially wood! We grow it and then truck it down to you so that we can rent trucks and trailers and drive down to bring it back, 'cause it's cheaper than buying it here.

The one thing that I learned when going through those border guards, is that when they ask you if you have any weapons, never say,
"Whattaya need?"

Yay, this made my day, finding a new Nebo and Smidgy trip report! I usually lurk but may have commented on one of your last trip reports.
So a few things, congrats on the smoking but I am sorry to hear about your eye troubles:hug:. And I can't believe no one commented on your Shiloh Pitt comment...now that was funny, I am still chuckling over that one.
Can't wait to read about your upcoming adventures...reading your reports is like getting a great book, you don't want it to end! I will be interested to hear how you like BLT. We stayed there in February. Loved the lake view room. Once the kids went to bed DH and I would sit on the balcony with our gin and tonics (no fuzzy cups though) and watch the boats come and go...very relaxing :cloud9:.
So count me in for this ride, no doubt there will be a lot of laughs. Have a wonderful trip!!!

Good food, same as HDDR/ Just watch out for the chocolate milk police. Told my DH we didn't want to give our son another cup of chocolate milk because he would get sick. Um. lady, I didn't ask your opinion...just bring me the darn chocolate milk.

And of course, ALL I can think about now is the fact that I'm not there, which means I'm not in EPCOT having a Napolean at the Patisserie.
Maybe if you're in a Napoleon kinda mood, you could take a picture of one for me when you're there.

As I recall, (ok so I asked my 17 year old potterfile) the conversation between Hagrid and the kids took place after the second task in the story which was around the middle of the school year so I guess it is about 3 and a half years.
Hope your tooth dosen't mess up your trip too much. Many years of no insurance has taken its toll on my mouth so on Wed I'm having 25 teeth pulled and all the fun that goes with that and dentures. Ironically after saving up for this for a really long time and finally finding a dentist that didn't charge through the roof I finally get a position at the school district that lets me have insurance at an ok price for the whole family. But getting it done on a cash price is still way cheaper than what would be left over after the insurance cap is hit. Oh well aat least I can smile in the pics on the next trip to WDW. (hoping for January)
I'll just have to make sure to time the meds so it dosen't hurt so much when I laugh.
:rotfl::rotfl:
HI Nebo and Smidgy,
Looking forward to your latest adventure. Have read all your previous escapades.
Bob
Hey, Bob's here. Didn't you finally post on the last trip report the day it was sent to the mausoleum?
Well, your about six months ahead of yourself, this trip.
Have fun.
$25 for the room.
$26, $27 and $28 to the three men "sleeping" together...
$29, and $30 to the bellhop for not telling anyone what was going on in the room...
No, no, no, they each paid 9 dollars, that's 27, and the bellhop got two, that's 29.
Actually Mary, Beth, Lou and Cindy, of coarse ykou are right. It's all in the telling that's the trick.
A proper way that it should have been told would be:
They each paid 9 dollars, that's 27, MINUS the two to the bellhop is 25.
You see I started out doing the "subtraction" version of the story, then turned it into an "addition" story with the last two bucks.
And don't ever let me do this again!
Yay, this made my day, finding a new Nebo and Smidgy trip report! I usually lurk but may have commented on one of your last trip reports.
I do remem ber you, I think.
DIdn't Sean Penn play you in the movie?
So a few things, congrats on the smoking but I am sorry to hear about your eye troubles:hug:. And I can't believe no one commented on your Shiloh Pitt comment...now that was funny, I am still chuckling over that one.
I think I might have dragged that one to the well a few too many times.
Don't need the fuzzy cups there, they are just for when you're on the go.
Well, did he get sick? I would have told him to puke all over her just to prove her right.
I actually think Columbia Harbour House has really good fish and chips!
Me too, and reasonable prices.
And of course, ALL I can think about now is the fact that I'm not there, which means I'm not in EPCOT having a Napolean at the Patisserie.
Maybe if you're in a Napoleon kinda mood, you could take a picture of one for me when you're there.
How about a picture of Napolean Dynamite instead?
Love your dining choices!!! And Smidgy, I hope you're able to get to Tony's!!
Some areas have a "farm" team, we have an "already harvested" team ;)
I still think of Neil Lomax and Jim Hart playing in St. Louis, and who thought the Brewers would run away with that division?
:rotfl::rotfl:
Betsy, that sounds brutal! Hope it works out well for you, and remember, the vikes don't work well at all on a full stomach.

I've been away from the Disboards for awhile and come back just in time for a new Nebo & Smidgy TR, good timing on my part! I usually find them when they are almost over. I can't wait to read all about this one.
Terri
I think it's time to bring something back.
We all have our pet names for things,,, slang, butchered up titles,, in my case names like "Turtle Lady", and "Costmember", to others I've heard, like "Primevil Hurl."
But things change over time, stuff goes away, new stuff is added, old stuff is changed, so let's bring our list back up to date!
This is something we all can add to, no trademarks on any of the terms so feel free to post your own "farcical phrases" that we all can use.
So I'm going to re post this from a few trip reports ago, but it's over 3 and a half years old now, although I haven't changed it much, it's time to bring it back.
Shall we?
ladies and gentlemen,,,,,, here we go!

Webster's Unabridged Dictionary
Yeah, that's how it started, every household had one.
times change, however.
NEBO'S Abridgeisout DIStionary
Ok, here we go, the dissers true guide to Disneyworld.
Yes, after many years of research, we are finally able to share with the masses, the special insider terms and phrases that we all hold so dear.
Like all reference books, this is not finite, so feel free to offer your own "specials" that would add to the list shown here.
I'm sure they will be just as stupid as mine.
Oh, did I just say that out loud? Never mind.
Ok, the names or initials you see next to a word or phrase are from the original source, as known to me, that first said it. Yes, folks will be left out, and half of it will be wrong, but I can only go by what I have read, and more importantly,, what I remember.
This DIStionary is arranged in chronological order, (meaning the order that they popped into my head as I was writing them,) unlike Webster's who foolishly arranges his book alphabetically.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

25. 7-10 minutes: Automatic response you will get from a cast member when asking the walking distance from any said point A, to said point B. i.e. Ranchos to food court,,,,,French Quarter to Ol'man Island,,,, Fifties section at Pop Century to Tokyo Disneyland.
26. Tree of Tears (lexmelinda), : Iconic landmark of Animal Kingdom that also houses the "Screamin' Kids Show", 3-D movie that will have all kids screaming as soon as "Hopper" shows up. The jab in the back is only in case some kids need a head start screaming. This movie has been highly acclaimed as a great birth control method for newleyweds, however. (by the way, kids with "Hopper" passes are not immune.)
27. Lastpass: Ticket you can get anytime during the day that you feel you might wish to do later. Which you can then save until the end of the day, when the park is packed, and fastpasses are gone,,,,,,, and they will still honor! Makes a great parting park ride gift.

and now, a couple of your author's favorites:

33. MONO-RAIL: Closed, airtight Disney conveyance system used to transport many infectious people at the maximum efficency capable of said craft. The crowded, congested quarters create a breeding ground for all occupants, therefore, the title.
34. Narcolepsy's: Two credit restaurant at Grand Floridian that will have you sleeping at your table waiting for the check to come.
Ok, I'm shot, done typing. No, I'm not going to go into the "lack of Imagination pavillioin" or what I wished would become " Honey, I shrunk the preshow" in same said pavillion.
This has sinced be replaced by:
35. Captain "EWE"
There is, however, a couple more {egocentric} phrases I have used.
( ok, what the heck are those brackets, and how in the hell did I get them? Did I go Goth?)
Yeah, these are phrases you won't see being used by others, but they hold a special place in my heart.
36. Grinding Nebo, the Ride: What happens when I have to come into a dark ride after being in bright sunshine, and don't quite make it all the way into the "clamshell" when I am told to "SIT".
37. Indiana Diana Stuntshow Spectacular: Yes, they renamed it after her after she showed up on stage more often then the INDY did.
38. Fooling Nebo, the Moronical: Again, what happens when they keep changing the show time for the musical at Ak. JUST to throw off my schedule!
With that, I am done. Yes, I know I'm gonna hear some spit, sorry I could n't connect the right quotes all the time with the right people, I can only go by what's stored up in that feeble brain I have.
So, let me end it here now, with a line I always liked from a Tiggerbell trip report:::::
"And then the Castle blew up, and we all went home!"(Tiggerbell)

OK, so I've been to WDW a handful of times, but my home resort is Disneyland (check my location). Can't contribute fun names to your WDW list, but there's one that's ubiquitous on the DLR boards. I can't take credit.
In California Adventure, Mickey's Fun Wheel is a large ferris wheel with cages that hold 6 people each. There are two flavors of cages -- fixed ones that stay attached and just rotate a little bit when the wheel stops. And ones that ride on rails, and start swinging wildly back and forth on those rails when it stops. It's very, very unnerving.
If you find yourself on the left coast of the DISboards, just use the acronym MFWoD. Everyone will know what you're talking about.
Oh yeah, what's it stand for? Mickey's Fun Wheel of Death :)

Yippy found this as a "pre-trip," not almost done and I'm reading six months behind! I needed something to entertain me as I wait for October. (see siggy!)
We also endured a December 2010 Disney trip and had the honor of witnessing three Orlando record lows, so I was empathetically amused by your last trip report.

OMG, ***, SMH, FML AND XYZ! How am I JUST NOW GETTING HERE? Hey my imaginary besties- Nebo & Smidgy!
I feel like maybe I should write in bigger text to take the strain off of Neb's eye.
In order to pass the time between exciting, adventurous, funny and always blood shedding Nebo reports, I've started reading "Disneymoon" reports... nearly as sappy as a Nicholas Sparks book... :sad1:There is one I'm enjoying a bunch, so I'll finish that... but none of the writers grab my attention like Nebs!
Okay.. catching up on what I've missed:
First... I wanted to tell you... keep this on the DL... DH knows but no one at my office does.... I've submitted my resume to WDW, kind of as a joke and I got an e-mail saying I'm actually being considered.... WHAT?! :scared1::laughing:
I'll let you know if/when I hear more... which I doubt I will.
Anyway, first: DS(IL) LOVES the Dole Whips... but I agree, they are over rated... but she'd disown me if she read that (and she's on here... so maybe I shouldn't, but I already have...) I'd much rather have the POPCORN from the store on main street... I can't remember the name of it but it's a suvenier shop and the assorted popcorns are across from the cashier. Cheddar, chocolate covered, carmel, my favorite by far... CINNAMON toast! omg if you haven't had it, you're missing out! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:worship:
Back to the pretrip report...
When we went last Oct. my DH and I got the fish from the R&C and it was good... yours does look like a deep fried Randal though. odd...
AND finally, where did the other dollar?!
Can't wait to read more! Smidgy, please remember to unplug all things electrical before A. leaving the house and B. before the rest of the trip report... we don't want it burning down in the middle of the trip!
Now back to your regularly scheduled author.....

2. Morlocks: Hidden cast members that monitor the rides and suddenly appear through hidden portals to take n'er do wells to their doom.
So does that make us Eloi? Wait a sec, Morlocks eat Eloi... On second thought, I know after WDW my wallet is a lot lighter, maybe the Morlocks ate my money? Yeah, that must be it...
4. Jungle Snooze: Boat ride with title results occuring when the skipper is either, 1. shy, 2. a low talker, and 3. script forgetfull, or 4. foreign, with a strong accent, or, or, 5. not me.
Yup, you're either laughing hysterically because you've got a great skipper or sitting there wondering why did you ever get on this ride.
So, let me end it here now, with a line I always liked from a Tiggerbell trip report:::::
"And then the Castle blew up, and we all went home!"(Tiggerbell)
:lmao:I love that line! I gotta use it next time somebody asks me how our trip was.

Yay!!!! I am soooooo happy to see a TR! like I just told smidgy i have been disboardless for a little over six mnths battling cancer. But I am back and I am counting down to my very own celebration "I am so done with damn radiation celebration". So I am happily going to ride along like the good oletimes of rowdy brazillion tour groups while I count down the days to our WDW trip on October 4. Whoo hoo! Watch out sand bucket stealers...this year I am fighting back. :rotfl:

Whoever heard of Manhawkin, New Gina?
For the record - it's Manahawkin! "Manhawkin" sounds like some guy on a street corner trying to sell a watch :lmao:... Anyway the lovely (not really) town of Manahawkin is located on the coast of fabulous South Jersey which is now famous due to the recent unwelcomed visit by Hurricane Irene. We also had an earthquake here last week and plenty of tornado warnings - when does the volcano erupt? Truly a vacation capital of the east coast. Actually Long Beach Island (which is 5 minutes away) is really a vacation location - and they were all evacuated this weekend - it made for some fun at the food stores and gas stations!
PS - Magical Depress and Eviction Notices are now part of my Disney Vocab - even my husband understands me - scarey :scared1:!

here is the one thing I'm hoping NOT to get again on this trip, the fish I once ordered at Rose and Frown:
I still say fish are not supposed to have appendages!

Too bad your baseball season has come to an end like mine has too already...
Are you saying that your White Sox are down for the count??? I wouldn't count them out just yet. The Tigers had a four game lead with five games to go and still lost the division.
I can't relax until they clinch!

This has always been my favorite! I resurrect this term every time we discuss Epcot.

28. Depressions de France: Depressing French movie where all the actors just sneer at you (because you're not French), and tell you how lucky you are that you are not standing like in the Canada or China movies!
29, StressfulMagic: Nightime MK Parade requiring a great deal of fortitude in staking out one's spot, and then PROTECTING IT!
30. Rose and Crud restaurant: nuff said.
see also Rose and Cretaceous, "Long John's Fossils" ,Rose and Frown, and, "Would you like Pteradactyls with that sir?"
31. Snorin' : What happens by about the tenth time you ride it since it opened.
and now, a couple of your author's favorites:
32. NORDSTROM'S: Short, boring boat ride in NORWAY, resulting in an even more boring movie.
The DIStionary needs to be an official DIS community document! You should copyright it.
I've been away from the Disboards for awhile and come back just in time for a new Nebo & Smidgy TR, good timing on my part! I usually find them when they are almost over. I can't wait to read all about this one.
Terri
Welcome back Terri, I'm reminded again how perilously close your name comes to the dreaded, "teehee".:scared1:
OK, so I've been to WDW a handful of times, but my home resort is Disneyland (check my location). Can't contribute fun names to your WDW list, but there's one that's ubiquitous on the DLR boards. I can't take credit.
Whoa, that's twice the "ubi" word has been invoked so far in this trip report, we ain't got no dummies reading and posting here!
-Bob
Bob, we always get envious whenever we hear of people going for the first time, last week we were at Woodfield Mall, they have a DVC outlet over there and we picked up real, genuine Disneyland and California Dreamin park maps.
Like man, we SO want to get out there someday soon, Disneyland in particular seems as if it is just JAMMED with stuff.
Hi Redwitch, I thinkk youj go back to the first report I did also, good to see you again. And boy of boy, on nov. 30th it was in the 80's last year, when they flipped the calender over that was basically the end of the trip, for me, that next day, wednsday, started out about 68 at 6 in dthe morning and it was all downhill from there. So much for getting a great room next to the pool!
OMG, ***, SMH, FML AND XYZ! How am I JUST NOW GETTING HERE? Hey my imaginary besties- Nebo & Smidgy!
Okay.. catching up on what I've missed:
First... I wanted to tell you... keep this on the DL... DH knows but no one at my office does.... I've submitted my resume to WDW, kind of as a joke and I got an e-mail saying I'm actually being considered.... WHAT?! :scared1::laughing:
[SIZE="4"]Anyway, first: DS(IL) LOVES the Dole Whips... but I agree, they are over rated... but she'd disown me if she read that (and she's on here... so maybe I shouldn't, but I already have...) I'd much rather have the POPCORN from the store on main street...
Now back to your regularly scheduled author.....
Hello Rebecca, welcome back! And thanks for the nice words about the writing, there's reports for every kind of taste on the Dis, mine is more for the Mad magazine or National Lampoon intellectual group.
By the way, I read in another report recently, (TimandLeslie?), that they never miss getting the caramel plopcorn in the Germany pavillion, I don't think I've ever had ANY kind of popcorn in all the Disney trips, and we both like popcorn.
So does that make us Eloi? Wait a sec, Morlocks eat Eloi... On second thought, I know after WDW my wallet is a lot lighter, maybe the Morlocks ate my money? Yeah, that must be it...
I have always really liked that movie, although I wish they would have given Weena a personality, but I remember when I saw it as a kid thinking how really clever it was to push the time machineten feet out in the garden, so when he went back it would be outside the temple or whatever he was trapped in.
Yup, you're either laughing hysterically because you've got a great skipper or sitting there wondering why did you ever get on this ride.
One time we had a young, very Japanese intern who not only was shy, with a strong accent but also a low talker who still didn't know the script. it was like watching a PBS documentary on TV with the sound turned off.
:lmao:I love that line! I gotta use it next time somebody asks me how our trip was.
I agree, that's why I gave Jaime the credit, it's dumb and stupid but just caught me off guard and made me laugh.
:rotfl:
WOw Kris, youj definately fall into the "deserve a Disney trip" category, hope you are mostly done with the treatments, we'll pray for you.
I do remember the sandpail incident,, at CBR, right, and a hammock was involved too,,, I'll keep an eye out for those rotten kids.
Gina, hope all is ok out there with you and I'd definately stay away from any mountains if I were you, or even any hills that might erupt.
PS - Magical Depress and Eviction Notices are now part of my Disney Vocab - even my husband understands me - scarey :scared1:!
But the phrases you really n eed to get hubby up to speed on are fuzzy cups, little airplane type bottles and Sunny D's.
What kind of fish is that and where did you get it so that I don't.
Shirley, that fish is from the Rose and Crown restaurant in the United Kingdom, what's deceiving is that out in front is a counter service stand called the Yourshire County Fish Company or something like that, and there you can order your regular, every day fried cod in a basket friday night fish fry.
That fish is good, similar to what you get at Columbia Harbour House.
Then you go inside and order the fish like I did thinking I'll be getting pretty much the same thing only more expensive, and they bring me ichthyosaurus, breaded.
Are you saying that your White Sox are down for the count??? I wouldn't count them out just yet. The Tigers had a four game lead with five games to go and still lost the division.
I can't relax until they clinch!
I'm like you, a five run lead with two outs in the bottom of the ninth and I'm still holding myy breath, but I don't think the Sox can catch them this year, we'll have a better idea after the two play each other by you in a few days.
This has always been my favorite! I resurrect this term every time we discuss Epcot.
I remember when I first did that list, I had Smidgy read the one about Rafiki's Planet Watch and Conversation Station two or three times before she saw the swtich in letters. Your eyes will see what they are expecting to see.
The DIStionary needs to be an official DIS community document! You should copyright it.
Thanks, but lots of people helped make that list, I do like that thought though, it should be a Sticky at the top of the home page.

Okay Mr. Nebo.. Back again.. I have to get all caught up on the Pre-trip again.. We had an unexpected, unwanted visitor here on the east coast (IRENE), so now i have fallen behind.. We managed to make it through with minor damage, a HUGE mess to cleanup, and we just got power today..:banana:
Have I missed anything good?
We're jealous you will be going to the world soon.. Think we could stow away in the back of the Santa Fe?? Heck I could even take a turn driving.. maybe Smidgy would give the dashboard a break when you guys go through the mountains!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Our t able service ressies go thusly:
Planet Hollywood
Saana,,,, Sanaa,,,,Sanna,,,,Sonna,,,,
Biergarten
Tony's
Prime Time
Trail's End
Saana, Tony's and Trail's End will be firsts for us, like wanting to stay at every Disney resort, we also want to say we've eaten at every restaurant there, though I might send her on her own when it get's down to just Akershus.
What???? no Teppan Edo??? I guess there will be no tales of Nebo upsetting the man with the flying knives.. :confused3
Sunday we do lunch at Tony's, this was on our list last December but got axed at the last minute.
How come you axed it last trip?? we made sure to hit as many places as we could that had HEAT for that December trip!!!!
Places we always hit each trip now, is the Sci Fi.. the December trip it was warm so that worked out good (we usually hit it on the summer trips midday to cool off). DW has to do Earl of Sandwich once during the trip...
Soooo, we'll be hitting that one again on our next trip.. We tried T-Rex at DD.. not bad..
We haven't really made our ADR's yet (i know shame on us).. the one's we want to hit are not available, so we're thinking maybe QSDP this time. or just going out of pocket completely..
Wow - I think it took me the last seven pages to see again after seeing the photos of your eyeballs :scared1:. I'm also glad I just gave myself my shot before that :goodvibes
You guys looked so great at the wedding - looks like it was a really nice day. Diane - you don't even want to see my hair when it's 90 and humid...no matter how much time I spend on it, it simply explodes.
Trails End for breakfast is one of our absolute must do's - I'll be interested to see how you like it for dinner. May have to try that one of these days.
Still trying to talk Mark into driving in Dec - I keep saying the Santa Fe wants another road trip

Oh well, it's my fault... I am more than fashionably late.
BUT I have a very valid excuse! I've been a little preoccupied. My DH just had a hip replacement.
Yes, a total hip replacement... at the young age of 43.
Long story, pretty gruesome, I'll spare you the details.
Anyway, I'll try and get caught up before you get too much farther along.
Good to "see" y'all!

Oh...I love a good Brain Teaser. I give them to my classes every so often and usually drives them nuts, so I of course, I really like them. I think I will borrow this one the next time we do them in class...I'll let you know how much they enjoy it...:lmao:

Nebo, your trip is right around the corner now! I can't believe how long the TR is getting and the trip hasn't even happened yet. I'm trying to imagine what kind of "adventures" you will have. I'm looking forward to being entertained, for months to come, Nebo style.
I have the worst luck with the "jungle snooze". Gah, every single time I have taken the cruise I have struck out, and I mean struck out spectacularly. I like the Art of Animation movie with Mushu, but the CM who converses with him either makes or breaks that experience as well.
IASMW is one of my daughter's favorite rides as is IASW so I get to experience them multiple times every trip. Lucky me.
Important note to self, I must try a dole whip float with rum in January. If it's cold outside, maybe with enough rum I can feel warm!

I love reading your trippies, Nebo. Not only for your great sense of humor, but also because it's always a blast from the past for me. I used to go to Woodfield all the time. Back in the early '70s, my first wife & I lived in those awful apartments at the corner of Algonquin Rd and 53, in the town we affectionately called Rolling Ghettos.
We've discussed this before, Nebo, and yes, you've gotta come out and visit Walt's original park. As Hydroguy, our resident guru on the DLR boards, points out, the two parks out west have 90% of the number of rides that WDW has in 4 parks. So we're ride-intensive. Nowhere near the number of good places to eat, though.

I keep thinking, ever since I first saw that pic in your previous trippie, that someone's been playing a huge joke on you. Are you absolutely sure that Smidgy wasn't behind it all, and has been suppressing a snicker every time she sees it? That would be truly classic :lmao:

Yes, we are taking the Santa Fe again, this will be number 12 to Disney for the truckster.
And one time to Niagara Falls. (how did that get in here?)
Niagara Falls is one of our favorite getaways for a quick refresh (when you don't have time for Disney). Last trip was a 2 nighter in late June; we got a great getaway rate at the Marriott Fallsview, did all the touristy things, stuffed our faces at some great restaurants, and rolled ourselves home. It's only 360 miles from home instead of 1500 miles.
As we are planning this, what comes in the mail but a letter from Disney for 35% off whatever we want!
I hated to pass up the PIN code, but the point rentals for BLT and AKV were still cheaper than a mod with the PIN code, believe it or not.
They've been sending me PIN codes by the hockey sock full lately. I got 2 (!!) via e-mail yesterday for 35% off Deluxes. The only problem is that whenever I click through it tells me their system is unavailable - this has been going on for over a month now! (last 3 offers). They're doubling up the offers now but I guess they don't really want su to visit.
Oh, and really, you don't have to respond to the eye thing again, we did all that last report and I appreciate your concern, I'm not the only one with problems and I don't handle sympathy well.:rotfl:
If you need a shoulder to cry on, pull off to the side of the road.
Have fun.
You know, I had a Costmember do this to me at one of the shops last trip. You know, I gave her $40 at first, but then found a $5 so switched it for $25 (the purchase was around $22). This got her so confused that she gave me back too much change. I tried twice give her back the extra, but she was adamant that she was correct, and kept using that kind of faulty logic on me. I left with almost as much money as I came in with. Then I got in trouble with DW for shortchanging her!! No really, I tried to set her right! How big an argument should you start with someone when trying to correct their mistake? :confused3 Okay, can't believe that is still bugging my concience...
Glad to see you both back. Hope that you have a safe but humorous trip. (that's humorous as is "funny", not humerus as in "break a"). :goodvibes
PS to Ponzi (actually I read the screen name as Pick on Diz when I saw it - must be mistaken). Looks like my crew will be down there about the same time - mayhaps we should start convincing Nebo and Smidgy that they'll need another 2013 trip...

What???? no Teppan Edo??? I guess there will be no tales of Nebo upsetting the man with the flying knives.. :confused3
nope, not this time, probably would if we weren't opaying out of pocket.
How come you axed it last trip?? we made sure to hit as many places as we could that had HEAT for that December trip!!!!
Good point, not sure why.
I'd love to do just a QSDP some time, we considered it here but the cost got up there and i thought we could do better on our own.
Wow - I think it took me the last seven pages to see again after seeing the photos of your eyeballs :scared1:. I'm also glad I just gave myself my shot before that :goodvibes
Trails End for breakfast is one of our absolute must do's - I'll be interested to see how you like it for dinner. May have to try that one of these days.
Still trying to talk Mark into driving in Dec - I keep saying the Santa Fe wants another road trip
Hey, that's right, you have a Santa Fe too!
This will be our 12th trip in the SF, with one to Niagara Falls in '04. Not sure how that one got in there. :lmao:
By the way, I just finally got new tires for it, the3re was still tread left, but I was just worried about the age of them, they are now 8 and a half years old and beginning to dry out.
But still got the original battery in there, hopefully Smidgy will be gentile with it this trip. :rotfl:
I'll just throw in that I went to Earl of Sandwich for lunch today and am about to have leftovers for dinner.
My little revenge since I never get to actually VACATION at Disney
I know, you go to Universal!
:worship: to the DIS-tionary. That is HI-sterical:rotfl2:.
My new Unoffical Guide came today. Yes, I know I don't "NEED" one to plan, but I really NEED, like I need my nicotine and my diet coke:cool1:
Totally understand.
Unofficial Guides we have owned:
2001
2003
2005
2007
2009
TWELVE PAGES?!?! :scared1:
Oh well, it's my fault... I am more than fashionably late.
BUT I have a very valid excuse! I've been a little preoccupied. My DH just had a hip replacement.
Yes, a total hip replacement... at the young age of 43.
Long story, pretty gruesome, I'll spare you the details.
Anyway, I'll try and get caught up before you get too much farther along.
Good to "see" y'all!
:goodvibes
WOw, sorry about your husband Nicole.
Wait, not husband Nicole,,,,, husband, Nicole.
That's better.
Feel free to tell us the grusome details is you feel like it, This report it going to pretty much go dormant in a few days so that will be something for others to read and then I can read it when we get back.
No, there will be no computer access while we are on the trip.
No, no, no, they each paid 9 dollars, that's 27, and the bellhop got two, that's 29.
Actually Mary, Beth, Lou and Cindy, of coarse ykou are right. It's all in the telling that's the trick.
Oh...I love a good Brain Teaser. I give them to my classes every so often and usually drives them nuts, so I of course, I really like them. I think I will borrow this one the next time we do them in class...I'll let you know how much they enjoy it...:lmao:
Ok, one more:
Bob and Frank meet up one night at the Magic Kingdom and they both start counting the fastpasses they have saved up all day.
Bob says to Frank, "Hey, if you give me one of your fastpasses, I'll have twice as many as you."
But Frank says to Bob, "Better idea, you give ME one of yours and we'll have the same amount."
Sooooooo, how many did they each have?
Nebo, your trip is right around the corner now! I can't believe how long the TR is getting and the trip hasn't even happened yet. I'm trying to imagine what kind of "adventures" you will have. I'm looking forward to being entertained, for months to come, Nebo style.
[COLOR="blue"]This may sound funny to you, but I'm kinda hoping the "adventures" part is kinda tamed down, know what I mean? I'm kind of liking the phrase "no pain, no pain."
I have the worst luck with the "jungle snooze". Gah, every single time I have taken the cruise I have struck out, and I mean struck out spectacularly. I like the Art of Animation movie with Mushu, but the CM who converses with him either makes or breaks that experience as well.
this is something I don't believe we have ever done, we have also never seen Mulan, isn't that where Mushu comes from?
IASMW is one of my daughter's favorite rides as is IASW so I get to experience them multiple times every trip. Lucky me.
Important note to self, I must try a dole whip float with rum in January. If it's cold outside, maybe with enough rum I can feel warm!
For less headaches the next day, vodka may be substituted.
I'm very impressed by your Dis-tionary! I love that it's in chronological order instead of alphabetical. Webster's an amateur.:rotfl:
Yay, PirateKate is still here, love that name! Looks like we'll just miss you, too bad.:sad2:
Nice Dis-tionary nebo. I will have to use the Eviction Notice.
Yeah, good idea. Hang it on your Mother's door!

"someone" told him last month "it's not going to get better, you know..."
Uh-oh....Let's not hope there is a chapter during the TR titled "Smidgy was RIGHT" (Unless it is about something other being in pain, case you ARE right, Smidgy!)
A whale's whatever???? No way I'd eat that! Even if it is some kind of eskimo delicacy.
Gotta agree.....
Yes, us erudite protégés of Nebo and Smidgy are ubiquitous :rotfl:
showoff!
-Bob
That's funny, don't think I've ever heard it called "Rolly Ghettos" but here in Carpentersville we do have "Cabrini on the Fox".
And I have read much of Hydroguy's Disneyland for Disneyworld folks thread, makes us want to go there more.
Nebo, my DW & I ate at R&C 3 years ago, when we took step-son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter to the World. DW had the fish & chips, and they looked like your normal, every day fried cod in a basket. She said they were delicious.
I keep thinking, ever since I first saw that pic in your previous trippie, that someone's been playing a huge joke on you. Are you absolutely sure that Smidgy wasn't behind it all, and has been suppressing a snicker every time she sees it? That would be truly classic :lmao:
Smidgy, if that's the case, I have only one thing to say. You go girl! :rotfl2:
-Bob
Ok, I paused to re-think everything again.
With me that night were Smidgy, Tiggerwannabe and her son, Adrian.
Nobody knew what I was going to order.
Adrian then told me he saw a waiter walk past with this really grotesque looking fish on it, but I had already ordered.
I described the fish in my report, but i had no pictures.
A few days later, I think it was Melinda who pulled up that picture, and I think she got it from Tiggerbell's report or photo account.
Even though it was the exact same thing on my plate, it wasn't the same exact fish, it was from some other sucker.
So, if it was a practical joke, Disney had to be involved in it, so I doubt it.
Shall we sing?
"When the moon's in your eye,,
like a big pizza pie;"
"That's a Moray!"
Jeepers, I go away for a week of camping in the wilds (and the rains of Irene), and come back to a new Nebo & Smidgy trippie! :woohoo: And we're already at page TWELVE!!! :scared1: Count one more in from the Canuck contingent.
Timing is perfect; I've almost finished all of your past TR's now, and I can't comment on those ones.
Got's me some readin' to do :surfweb: I'll check back in when I'm all caught up...:goodvibes
hey mross,,,, Mike? Nice to see ya again.
And don't worry, you'll have plenty time to catch up, it's gonna be about 3 weeks between my posts in a couple days.
[QUOTE=nebo;42437420]
Welcome back Terri, I'm reminded again how perilously close your name comes to the dreaded, "teehee".:scared1:
Sometimes people who think they are funny call me that, I try not to hurt them too badly. T.D. is (are??) my initials and has been a nickname since I was a kid. Not my favorite but better than some things I've been called!
Terri
Before I became an official "nebo", before that I was pretty much known as "Hardy".
Nebo- can you really let your tooth problem go till you get back?
Well Melissa, it's like this:
I went to the dentist friday, he told me I needed to make an appointment with an oral surgeon cuz it's probably not gonna come out quietly, so, if I have to have something dug out i don't want it dug out right before a trip in case there's even worse complications.
You have to understand this is me we're talking about, you know how smoothly things usually go with me.
By the way, it's the last, bottom molar on the right, or,,
Last Molar on the Right.
Wes Craven is directing it again.
or was it Tobe Hopper?
are you trying to get me in trouble? by the way, I thought it looked good, and he was lucky to get such a big piece:confused3
Wait. Is she serious? You thought it looked good?
::
Actually, I agree. If you just cut off that fin, or pterodactyl arm, or whatever it was, you're left with a huge piece of cod. Or whale. Whatever.
Did he eat it?
Yeah, I wanna know too, did I?
A whale's whatever???? No way I'd eat that! Even if it is some kind of eskimo delicacy.
And you are correct, no way I ate that abberation!
That didn't include shoving a Japanese woman over the edge, did it? Oh, that's right, I'm the one that usually causes them much pain. Boy, I just hated to read about her falling over the railing. And that lookout platform on the American side scared the crap out of me.
Don't you love it when they play "red light, green light" with you?
If you need a shoulder to cry on, pull off to the side of the road.
Hey, very good. I knew there was something there so I read it twice and yep, there it was!
I understand this too.
One time I was pretty sure I saw a man drop some money as he went into the gas station so I went and picked it up,,,,, a twenty.
I didn't see him right away walk past me back to his car, but I caught him before he pulled out.
I knocked on his window.
He ignored me. j
Knocked again, he rolled it down an inch.
I asked him if he lost some money.
He wouldn' t even look.
I told him I think he dropped some money, and to please check.
He barely went through the motions, put the car in gear and took off!
And I kknow it was his!!!
Oh well.
Glad to see you both back. Hope that you have a safe but humorous trip. (that's humorous as is "funny", not humerus as in "break a"). :goodvibes
nothing funny about hitting your humorous bone.
PS to Ponzi (actually I read the screen name as Pick on Diz when I saw it - must be mistaken). Looks like my crew will be down there about the same time - mayhaps we should start convincing Nebo and Smidgy that they'll need another 2013 trip...
::yes:: We'll (hopefully) be down last week of March (peak season... but it's when the rugrats are out of school, so...). I'm sure we can convince them to go down to overlap us. Hmmmm??????
you serious? 2013? that's way too far away to plan now!, but you never know.
DH and I have begun to use the ever so popular Eviction Notice phrase outside Disney limits. Anytime we stay at a hotel, we peek our head out the door on the last day to see whether we are being "evicted a la Nebo and Smidgy". See what you do to us...we are all brainwashed and think of you even when Disney is not involved!:laughing:
But here's the best part:
When your room is ready early, like at ten thirty or so and you go and start unloading and you see hanging from the handle of the room next to you an eviction notice.
They are entertaining when they're not yours.
Whew, I finally caught up!!
Was on my own getaway at the Beach Club from 8/23-8/29! All of WDW was crawling with Phillies and Yankees fans!! It was pure hell for a Boston guy!!
Hey Jay, almost every time I am there, New Jersey seems the predominant state there, so what category would most of them fall into?
And wasn't it nice to be there and not be freezing this trip? Sounds like a great trip, 6 nights a Beach Club!
That being said I'm thrilled to be all caught up and am ready to roll foward with the rest of you!!
Jay
Yep, here as well! The reaction and emotions, I would assume, are much the same as a real eviction. When I first see it, I get panicked...then I try to think of a way around it...and then when I cant, I get unbelieveably sad. :sad2:
Occasionally, we will beat the system and leave before the costmember gets around to hanging it.
So what day are you leaving? I don't think I missed it. Are you going to come say goodbye to all of us loyal readers before you go? Too bad you don't have a laptop so we can get live updates. :3dglasses
Sunday moring, we be gone, baby gone!
And sorry, no laptop, this is a great time to try an get away from everything.
Uh-oh....Let's not hope there is a chapter during the TR titled "Smidgy was RIGHT" (Unless it is about something other being in pain, case you ARE right, Smidgy!)
Gotta agree.....
Great, I'm gonna have another Smidgy is right hanging over my head.
But, Piglet's Mommy,,,,,,,,,,,,no Ruh Roh? :sad1:
Don't you just hate that when you have this huge list left, but it's too early to start doing it?
And man, has it been hectic the last couple of weeks.
From eye doctor appointments to dentists, to car shops and shopping for the trip, to shopping for a party we have to go to Saturday, day before we leave.
It's Kaylee's 3rd B-day, and no, she didn't want to skip it this year, I asked.
Take it easy, take it easy.
So, son number 2 is having it at son number 1's house.
Then Diane offered to bring Sloppy Joes for dinner.
Then she offered to bring hot dogs to grill also for dinner.
Then she offered to bring Pepperidge Farm cakes, (2) for desert.
Or is it dessert?
So glad I married such a generous woman.
(insert smiley as you believe I meant that last statement.)
I also had to bring the Santa Fe in for a recall we got awhile ago......
ok, ok, almost two years ago!
They needed to check the under carriage for rust, it's possible some suspension rods and parts could be rusting out in our climate, if they show signs of rust, they will be replaced for free.
It sounded to me like a waste of time, of course they arent going to say they see rust,,,,
They saw rust, and spent 5 hours replacing everything, it would have cost over 2 thousand dollars.
They also had to replace the power steering lines that were leaking, that was 250 that I had to pay for.
They also found a leaking differential seal that was still under the original warranty and replaced that too, for free.
Hyundai amazes me, this car is almost 9 years old now!
Then I brought it to my neighborhood guy for an ail change. Oil Change.
When I picked it up, I asked him if he checked the tires for correct pressure and made them right, he said he did.
3 days later I checked them again myself, I've been worried about them, being so old and all of them were under inflated, 2 of them by as much as 8 pounds.
Either he's lying to me about checking them, or they are really starting to lose air, not a good sign.
I then made the mistake of mentioning this last tire stuff to Smidgy, told her I really wanted to wait unjtil next year for new tires when we didn't have a wedding and stuff to help pay for,,,,but her impeccable logic showed me the error of my ways and I knew now I could never live with myself if something blew on the highway, so yesterday I went to the bank to swithch money from the equity account into the checking account and went and bought 4 shiny new tires.
From Goodyear, was even able to get the same exact brand and model that came with the car, hey, I thought those belonged in the Tire Hall of Fame for how well they performed, they even got us through the St. Auggie Beach's dry sand when Explorers and Highlanders and Jeeps were sinking up to their grills in the quicksand there.
Total cost=696.49
I was more than happy with that price for those tires, well, as happy as you can be for something like that.
As for the shopping, I've been trying to pick up stuff a little bit at a time to avoid one huge bill right before we leave, That's what always was a problem before a trip.
Huge shopping bill, huge liquor bill, have to find lots of cash to bring with us, for both of us to hang onto.
And always a HUGE cigararette bill for both of us for the time we will be gone. Yes, it was nice for the first time not to worry about that bill.
Lets see,,,,, oh, it appears I have everything timed just right, no regular bills will go unpaid while we are gone, I just paid the last one today, but oh the day we come back!
We are also trying to clean out the fridge, food wise so we don't have to throw out too much.
Believe it or not, right now I am having a glass of Merlot, I used to like wine a long time ago, I just can't remember what types of wine I liked, evidentally it wasn't Merlot.
I'm grinding my teeth here.
I have also done something I'm not proud of.
Diane hates to have to hand somebody the camera to see the vacation pictures, we seldom get them made into prints, she's rather do it the old fashioned way and get the film developed.
And I have to admit, a lot of the time when I use the digital, I can't tell what I'm looking at on the screen, the sun bleaches it out so I have to take many, many pics just to make sure I got the shot I want,,,,, no, I do better with an old fashioned little viewer hole to look through, so I went and bought two rolls of 35 mm film for my old Canon Maybe Shot. The plan is to mostly use that camera for just walking around and taking resort pictures, I hate lugging this thing in the parks.
Oh, we'll have the Easy Share with us too, just in case there's a short video calling out for us to take.
Anybody have any ideas for an interesting short video?
If we do end up at the Swan and doing Karoake, that would be a good example, but that may fall in the "against the Geneva Convention category for cruel and unusual punishment."
Alrighty now, I mentioned a few days ago that I wanted to share a "humorous antidote" with you.
It was no big thing, more of a "had to be there", but it did make me laugh, and a few people gasp.
It's like this:
I've been going to the same Liquor Store for a long time now, and over the years the main clerk, "Luke" has gotten to know me a bit, at least by face and what I usually buy.
Beer, whiskey, vermouth and sometimes vodka.
That is, until the other day, and that day gave me the opportunity to use a line I did a few years ago there, only with a different clerk back there then. That time I just got a dirty look after I used my line, but undaunted, I had to try it again.
It was busy that day, I stood in line with my shopping cart waiting for my turn and people soon were lining up behind me.
As I got up to the front, Luke glanced at me, then looked into the cart as I started to unload it.
Unload the 30 pack of beer, the whiskey, vermouth, rum, vodka, wine coolers, Margarita bottle, Hot Sex bottle, Dreamsickle bottle, Mai Tai bottle, second bottle of whiskey..... etc, etc, .
His eyes got big as saucers when he looked back at me with a quizzical smile on his face, and I couldn't resist:
"Hey, it's for my wife."
"She's pregnant and she says she's drinking for two now."
Good old Luke just kind of chuckled a bit and started ringing it all up.......
But what made my day was the very audible "GASP!" that came out of at least two women behind me in line. :rotfl2:
I guess that about does it for now.
I can't stand it, I'm ready to take off right. this. minute.
I'm still a little concerned about our timing..... never left in the middle of a holiday weekend before, nothing frustrates me more than having another 5 hundred miles to cover yet today and you are sitting in traffic, not moving.
adios, nebs

The only problem with that is the constant "Your being evicted, Your being evicted" chant that runs through my head (think, Stilwell from "A League of Their Own" chanting in his sing-song nasally voice, "Your gonna lose, Your gonna lose.") when I see it on someone else's door. Once you get the notice on your door, you wonder who else is doing the same thing to you, and now your noticing everyone else's face who's checking in, trying to catch them singing/chanting out loud or bobbing their head to the tune. :sad2:

:worship:This is why you and my DH got along so well...similar humor....When I was first pregnant with our first we went to a lamaze class. First, when we had to go around and introduce ourselves my DH goes "Oh, who me? Oh that's not mine....I'm here just to hang out with this guy" and pointed to the total stranger next to him. (They are still friends 16 years later.)
Then the women and men separated into two groups to discuss the pros and cons of pregnancy. :3dglasses Let the show begin....I could hear my DH across the room "con - the fridge is always empty, pro - she's to fat to catch you when you piss her off". Lovely, yes I married this.
The finale was when our daughter was born and his first comment was "she looks like the mailman". :sad2:
However, now I am getting even telling him that no one get's his jokes anymore - he's just to old.
You and Smidgy have to be so excited! We are a little under 5 weeks and I have the suitcases out already.
Be nice to Smidgy as you prepare and don't forget your bag!popcorn::

Nebo, I really hope and pray that your "adventures" do not result in any pain. You really do deserve a trip that is free from any physical harm.
I am so glad you got new tires for the Santa Fe! It might be a little too much even for you to mix aging tires and one eye driving. I am seriously going to have to give Hyundai a close look the next time we buy a vehicle.
Watch out with the karoake! There could very well be an attack of "Kung Fu Fighting" and once it happens there is no escaping it.
Smidgy, do what you can to keep him out of trouble!

Kids are funny that way aren't they? Oh, who am I kidding. When it come's to Bdays, I take the cake (pun intended). "Dad, what do you want for your Birthday?"
"Dunno, but make it really huge and extravagant, 'kay? :dance3:"
Then Diane offered to bring Sloppy Joes for dinner.
Then she offered to bring hot dogs to grill also for dinner.
Then she offered to bring Pepperidge Farm cakes, (2) for desert.
Or is it dessert?
Dunno, but your place will be dessserted.
So glad I married such a generous woman.
(insert smiley as you believe I meant that last statement.)
You got it! http://www.smileyvault.com/albums/basic/smileyvault-bash.gif (http://www.smileyvault.com/)
That's actually pretty impressive.
I have also done something I'm not proud of.
so I went and bought two rolls of 35 mm film for my old Canon Maybe Shot.
Oh, the humanity! :faint:
Anybody have any ideas for an interesting short video?
I do! I do! Ummm... then again you may not want to hear it as it involves pain on your part. Smidgy'll probably laugh, though.
If we do end up at the Swan and doing Karoake, that would be a good example, but that may fall in the "against the Geneva Convention category for cruel and unusual punishment."
::yes::
"Hey, it's for my wife."
"She's pregnant and she says she's drinking for two now."
Good old Luke just kind of chuckled a bit and started ringing it all up.......
But what made my day was the very audible "GASP!" that came out of at least two women behind me in line. :rotfl2:
Nope! You didn't have to be there. Classic. :lmao: Closest I come to that is when I run to the store and take the dog, she likes to pop over to the driver's seat. If anybody's around when I get back to the car, I'll usually say something like, "No! Move over! You drove here and we almost got in an accident, now move over!"
Nobody's bought it yet, but I'm nothing if not optimistic.
I guess that about does it for now.
I can't stand it, I'm ready to take off right. this. minute.
I'm still a little concerned about our timing..... never left in the middle of a holiday weekend before, nothing frustrates me more than having another 5 hundred miles to cover yet today and you are sitting in traffic, not moving.
adios, nebs
It'll be here before ya know it. And remember, if you are stuck in traffic, just keep repeating, "I'm going to Disney World. I'm going to Disney World..."

spiffy! just spiffy! now we are connected with eviction notices. not exactly thinking of pixie dust and smiles when you think of nebo and smidgy!!!
well, now that I think of it, guess winks and laughs are more in tune with us than pixie dust and smiles....
Sure we are. It's because of Nebo's and Smidgy's Disney reports that we've come to think of eviction notices. We don't think of you back in Chicago, we think of you at Disney. pixiedust:

Wow! 2 weeks in Disney. That is so awesome! DH and I are talking about that for next year. Not sure we can swing it money-wise with DD in college this year but we'll see.
I'm envious of you too as we are normally there at the same time you're going to be there. We would be doing Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party next week. I will miss it.
But I can't wait to start reading the goodness/hilarity that is Nebo and Smidgy trip report. Bring on the jocularity!

Nebo:
"for desert.
Or is it dessert?"
Answer: My 5th grade English teacher taught me the that a desert is only a place you want to go to one time, so it only gets one s. On desserts, you always want seconds, so there's 2 s's.
desert: hot, dry & sandy.
dessert: sweetness I can't get enough of.:thumbsup2
The only problem with that is the constant "Your being evicted, Your being evicted" chant that runs through my head (think, Stilwell from "A League of Their Own" chanting in his sing-song nasally voice, "Your gonna lose, Your gonna lose.") when I see it on someone else's door. Once you get the notice on your door, you wonder who else is doing the same thing to you, and now your noticing everyone else's face who's checking in, trying to catch them singing/chanting out loud or bobbing their head to the tune. :sad2:
Hey, TM'sW, I'm concerned about you, have you concerned getting professional help for your difficulty in handling these notices?
I'm beginning to think that if you worked at a Disney resort you'd become a serial eviction notice hander outer.
:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:
(Yeah, I thought that was REALLY FUNNY!)
yeah, sometimes itj's the simple things in life that make it so entertaining, and you can always count on somebody to look for the worst in people and not see the obvious joke.
:rotfl::
Priceless. Absolutely priceless. I actually love the fact that they thought you were serious!
I would have loved to hear what was said to Luke after I left. :happytv:, but from the little bit I can tell about him, he would have just played along, maybe even telling the women that he's going to call DCFS. :rotfl:
I know, you go to Universal!
That would be cool, but I've never even been to a Universal Park, LOL
Cute anedote, and good for Smidgy about holding her ground about the tires.
Ok then, Sea World? You don't seem like the Gatorland type.
[QUOTE=nebo;42476251]But what made my day was the very audible "GASP!" that came out of at least two women behind me in line. :rotfl2:
[{/QUOTE]
[COLOR="blue"]Or course you did, and you're still glad you did, as I"m sure he is also.
The finale was when our daughter was born and his first comment was "she looks like the mailman". :sad2:
I used the same line myself, even went so far as to say, "look, he's even got his name on the birth certificate, MALE.
However, now I am getting even telling him that no one get's his jokes anymore - he's just to old.
Wow, and how many times has Diane said that exact same thing to me?
You and Smidgy have to be so excited! We are a little under 5 weeks and I have the suitcases out already.
Be nice to Smidgy as you prepare and don't forget your bag!popcorn::
Yes dear.
Honestly, I have always tried to buy American, but as of last info, the most "American" car you can buy today is the Honda Civic, it has the most American made parts in it and is built and assembled here, so I gave up and just buy what I think is the best deal FOR ME.
Watch out with the karoake! There could very well be an attack of "Kung Fu Fighting" and once it happens there is no escaping it.
You know, I don't believe I have ever heard that song at a karaoke fest. But I always want to kill the person who puts in for all 8 minutes of American Pie.
Smidgy, do what you can to keep him out of trouble!
Ah yes, the horror of having to go, yet again, to the most magical place on earth. I feel for ya buddy, I really do. Truly. :rolleyes1
Ah yes, I remember once before walking into the Ponzi World of Sarcasm when it comes to Disney complaints.
Kids are funny that way aren't they? Oh, who am I kidding. When it come's to Bdays, I take the cake (pun intended). "Dad, what do you want for your Birthday?"

Wow, we need to switch kids, I'm still waiting for at least a Father's Day card.
Dunno, but your place will be dessserted.
Nice play
You got it! http://www.smileyvault.com/albums/basic/smileyvault-bash.gif (http://www.smileyvault.com/)
Nice smiley too. Did I ever tell you about the time early in my career here, when I tried to do an entire chapter in just smileys?
After 2 hours of work I was finally up to two paragraphs, THEN I found out you can only include a maximum of 25 smileys or images in a post.
I do! I do! Ummm... then again you may not want to hear it as it involves pain on your part. Smidgy'll probably laugh, though.
Ok, give, what is it? What am I missing?
Nope! You didn't have to be there. Classic. :lmao: Closest I come to that is when I run to the store and take the dog, she likes to pop over to the driver's seat. I like it!
I have one more I'll include at the end.
It'll be here before ya know it. And remember, if you are stuck in traffic, just keep repeating, "I'm going to Disney World. I'm going to Disney World..."

Yeah, scrappy's back too! Great to have you back.
And I do love that word, jocularity.
I'm curious, does that word make you think of a certain tv character, or is it just me? I know Ponzi will answer it, Ponz, see if anybody else does befor you blurt it out.
Oh, car story.
One time we were meeting Diane's family at a restaurant for dinner.
As I was parking, I saw Diane's sister pulling up behind us with dad in the car also.
At the time we had a Mazda 626, and it had a feature that was relatively new at the time, the back seats could fold down and give you inside access to the trunk, so I told our oldest, Todd to pull the back of the seat down and climb into the trunk, he was about ten years old at the time.
As we got out of the car, Smidgy's family is getting out of their car right behind us and we started walking into the restaurant when her sister said, "where's Todd?"
"Oh, that's right, I almost forgot" I said, "he's being punished." And I went and opened up the trunk and said he better listen to me from now on, as he climbed out.
Even sister in law and dad took a bit before the realized we were pulling there leg.
Todd thought it was hysterical though.
Ok now, I'm not sure If I'm going to be able to post again before we leave, tomorrow is really busy, so, if I don't, everybody take care, we're going to miss you all again.
By the way, feel free to use this thread any way you see fit.
Tell stories, whatever, I like having stuff to read when I get back. hugs, nebo and dobby :lmao:

[QUOTE=GrandBob;42424636]OK, so I've been to WDW a handful of times, but my home resort is Disneyland (check my location).
Mickey's Fun Wheel of Death :)
o my goodness! GB has that one right on the money. what about the mailpuker it was one of those rides that catapulted riders up and then bounced them a few times and then came back down. you know this is going to have profound reactions on your stomach when they have pexiglass across the front that cm's will say is for kids who spit (yeah right)

Hi Nebo & Smidgy!
I've been here reading right along and very excited that you have a new trip to delight us with - especially since I have no idea when my next trip will be :sad1:.
I had to chime in here with the answer to the "jocularity" question...now it's been awhile...I know it was said by Radar doing an impression of Father Mulcahy, but I'm not sure if Mulchay actually said prior to that episode. Anyway, I can never hear that word without thinking "jocularity, jocularity, jocularity."
Also, so glad the two of you have stuck to your no smoking!!! Good for you, you must be so proud of yourselves. And Smidgy, I too am a no fuss kinda gal when it comes to hair...if it doesn't look good in about 10 minutes, it ain't going to get any better! But, I thought your hair looked lovely in the picture at the wedding.

Hey Buzz, actually the drive down has us in a quandry. Looks like no mat ter which way we go it will be rain, thunderstorms, or rampaging rain and floods and wind from Tropical storm Lee.
Unlike Smidgy, I would rather drive in an ice storm than a heavy rain where I can't see. Ok, make that falling ash with encroaching lava, just as long as I can see, I can drive through anything.
Even that stupid circle around Madison Wisconsin. :lmao:

Yes Col. Potter said (in a high raspy voice) Jocularity! Jocularity! Pierce uses it in a sentence but Radar mentions someone with Hepatitis and how he's a "most remarkable shade of yellow." They were all doing imitations of Father Mulcahy. I only remember Mulcahy saying it a couple of times, though (in other episodes).

Joining in! I usually find your reports when they're just about done but I've enjoyed them all and I'm really looking forward to this one. You guys are so entertaining! I especially want to hear about BLT since we'll be staying there a few days in March along with half a week at Kidani. Both are firsts for us.
Have a great time!

I live in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area, we're right off I-75 and if Steve and Diane are coming this route, and I imagine they are, they have been HIT with a ton of rain!! We've been out running errands and there were a couple times we could barely see the end of our car.
Stay safe friends!!!

Safe Journey Smidgy and Nebo!!! :goodvibes
I love the idea someone had of a ticker for tracking the number of days until nebo's and smidgy's return.
It's gonna be a long couple of weeks!

yes, the news was about our quitting smoking!! jan. 25. some of you may remember, I found out about the actual day right here on the dis! on his trip report!.
(could probably afford a trip to the moon with the money we spent on cigs.)
but.. lots of new "triggers" coming up with the trip.
the most amazing thing.. we quit together and haven't killed each other!!! guess this time it's for keeps!:hug:Whoo hoo!! Congratulations on quitting smoking and not killing each other. So happy for you guys!!
And don't worry, you'll have plenty time to catch up, it's gonna be about 3 weeks between my posts in a couple days. Hey Nebo, so excited to see you back, but very sad you won't be posting for the next 3 weeks. Have an absolutely fabulous trip!! I think I lost you midway a couple trip reports ago, so now I think I'll go back and catch up with you guys.

By the way, feel free to use this thread any way you see fit. Tell stories, whatever, I like having stuff to read when I get back. hugs, nebo and dobby :lmao:
So, Nebo & dobby (oh, er, um, I mean Smidgy) told us to use this thread any way we see fit. What do we do with it until they get back? Tell stories? Sing Songs? One song comes to mind. I'm sure you all know it, but I changed the words a little. Feel free to join in anytime.

Glad to hear you are on the mend. I did, and I am ahead of schedule. :rotfl:
So you will be leaving there just before we are scheduled to arrive on the 26. I hope you I will be looking for signs that Nebo was here!
