We're down to 7 days until our trip, so our waitlist for the BCV is not going to come through, and we'll be staying at AKL in Jambo House. We were hoping our waitlist would come through, but now I'm getting excited about staying at AKL. It will be something new, and since taking pictures is one of my favorite things to do on vacation, I think I'll find lots to photograph. So help fuel my excitement - what else will I love about AKL?

I hope you can post some of those photos that you'll be taking! Jambo's lobby is jaw dropping awesome! Look at the details, read the story about the great mask that's an exhibit. I like the Mara for counter service and the pool, and the common animal viewing areas, there are lots of them! Some are outside with rocking chairs. Go at night to see the animals through night vision goggles.

I always go to at least one "cultural safari" that's in the evening when I stay at AKV. Each CM from Africa has a slide presentation about the country he/she is from and I've always learned something new and it's a pleasure meeting these fine people. All of the CM's who are outside by the savannah have lots to say about the animals.

I like the size of the whirlpools and love to relax in one at some time during my stay. There's a steam and sauna in the health club that's available to use for free.

I'm staying at Jambo in September with 5 DGFs. 4 of us are having lunch on the Wednesday with an animal specialist at Sanaa! Here's a thread that talks about that.

Bobbi, Thank you! I didn't know about the cultural safaris - that is so cool! And the night vision goggles sound very cool too - I can't wait!

Do you have little ones? They have African Folk tales around the fire pit every night, I think around 6pm.
