Obviously from me ... one vote for the old New york thin crust.. the type you fold to eat... the perfect portable food.

Deep dish! Stuffed if it's available. Giordano's is probably about the best pizza I've ever had.

Obviously from me... one vote for Chicago-style deep dish, knife and fork necessary, portable in the sense of take-home leftovers and, it sure draws a lot of out-of-towners for a DIS Meet! :) (I actually prefer Chicago-style thin crust but, it wasn't among your choices) ;)

I've never had *real* Chicago or New York pizza so I really can't vote, but I'd have to guess New York thin crust just because thin crust is more prevalent around here and so that's at least similar to what we usually have.

Chicago deep dish pizza definitely wins out over NY thin crust for me.

First of all, if you can fold the pizza then the crust has not been properly made (thin crust, IMHO, will not fold if the crust is sufficiently thin and dry the way it SHOULD be :) . I much prefer true Chicago deep dish. But well made thin crust is great, too. Unfortunately, I never had a decent piece of pizza in the six years I lived on the east coast, despite many attempts by people to tell me where I needed to get the "best pizza". Dribbling oil on the top of a pizza just doesn't do it for me, and much of the pizza I was pointed too had that repulsive trait. ;)

Since moving to GA nine years ago from the area between NYC/Philly, one of the things I miss most is really good NYC Mom & Pop Shop pizza!

KimRaye, no I had it at this pizza place in Colorado called "Beaujo's" (spelling?) I guess that part of it wasn't Chicago style :)

Can you choose both? ;)

We used to have a restaurant called NYPK (New York style Pizza Kitchen), and I LOVED their cheese pizza! The sauce was awesome. But, they are gone now, and I haven't had a pizza like that since.

I also like Pizzeria Uno's deep dish cheese pizza.

I know, I know, I don't live near NYC or Chicago to get an AUTHENTIC style pizza! lol

I like both! If a pizza is well made, crispy crust, tasty sauce and a little olive oil yum!!!

Around our house, you can get pizza from 10 places and it can be distinctly different from all. We order thick, pan, stuffed, thin, one place, Wa-pa-ghetti's, has a dough that is really uniquely their own. Depends on the mood, and we sure do have choices.

My favorite pizza is made in Providence, RI...we travel to get it sometimes.. it is Italian pizza at its best and very well known in that area... I would say it was thin crust.. but I also like California style which is thin and cooked in special oak fired ovens...just not a fan of all that dough.. but maybe one of these days when I get to Chicago.. I can make a more informed decision on deep dish..

There's nothing like a properly made NY style thin crust pizza. Pick a cheesy slice, sprinkle a little garlic powder on it, fold it, pour off the extra oil, and chow down. I haven't been able to find anything like it here.

I guess California style is what the pizza I was talking about could be called then, MackeyMouse.

I grew up on thin crust Philly style...so that's what I prefer.

But the deep dish versions are yum too!

Well Speaking from the Pizza Hut versions (since I've had both)

I would have to go Deep Dish.

1. The crust is a different taste (which I actuall like)
2. There is A LOT less grease on the deep dish (I didn't even need to wipe my hands with a napkin)
3. The cheese seems better quality on the Deep Dish.

Thin and foldable - that's the best kind!
