This is the swap where I give you sketches and ideas you make them come true. It takes less time than other swaps because the hard part, figuring out where everything goes, is already done for you.

This time things are a little different. I am giving you more liberty with the sketches. I have tried to highlight the rules that are different to help the ones who have done these before. I am also letting you choice your sketches and there can be repeats of it in the same group.

I also picked sketches from two different blog/websites that give us permission to use them. One blog has the sketches where they are printable with the measurements along with examples. The other blog has lots of examples. This will help you see where and how you can customize the sketch.

Here are the Guidlines:


-You are allowed to rotate the sketch/map in any direction you want.

-Some of the sketches may seem very simple. I am giving you the liberty to embellish extra or add extra layers. It should resemble the sketch in number, size and placement of photos along with the journaling being in the same general area. Most sketches have examples of them being used on blogs/websites.

-Please use a layer of cardstock as your base. You may completely cover it with thinner paper. It is very difficult to sort them when they bend and sometimes the embellishments get caught.

-Please use quality paper on your layouts. I will not limit you to “name” brands, but please use good judgment. If the patterned paper doesn't have a name printed on it, don't use it.

-You are not required to double mat your elements or have to embellish the elements one/two way. Use your judgment on what looks best.

-You must add a mat layer to the photo placements if there is not one already on the sketch. This is different than other swaps I have done for sketches. The mat should be 1/8” larger than the photo size specified.

-You may use any kind of embellishment you like on these sketches where they are indicated or in place of a “layer” of paper. Ribbon and fiber are good substitutions for paper layers. Bulky and dimensional embellishments are encouraged.

-You may use different embellishments and paper on each of your layouts. Please ensure they are of the same quality.

-Please use generic non gender specific titles – Smile, Happy, Giggle, Sunny Day, Splash, PlayTime, etc.
Momma’s Boy, Good Girl, Little Princess/Prince, 4th of July, Mother’s Day are too specific. Shorter words work best. :)

-You will not have to tell me your title selection. It will be okay if we have some with the same title. The chances of the same title using the same paper and embellishments is pretty slim. If sign up for a particular title, please do use that one.

-More than one of the same sketch can be in the same group. We did groups using the same sketch last time and they were all different looking inside the same group.

-If the sketch has a date/event/place or anything more than a title, leave that area blank. These can be added by the members after they receive the pages.

-Please do not sign up for more than you can handle. But these should be easier than other page swaps as the placement is already decided for you.

-New to me swappers are limited to TWO groups.

-Please sign the back of your layout.

-Place each group in their own 2-gallon baggie and label the baggie with your real name, DISname and group information. No need for one single baggie for all the group baggies. Please have each set face each other; side 1 facing side 2 so that the backs are on the outside- each group only needs 1 bag.

-Please send postage for a medium or large flat rate box. Do NOT use the Click-it postage from USPS. I cannot use it. It has to be used the day it was printed. Stamps, check or cash are acceptable.

-If you don't mind the delay in return shipping, you may use non-priority to save some $$. Please use packaging I can reuse and send 3-4 extra stamps from what it cost you to mail it to me. Just in case some pages are heavier than others.

-Please include your address in the box. Address label, index card, priority label.

I'll fill in where needed, also. Gotta make my postage worth the price. ;) I'll take 4 or 5 groups total (and I'll get back to you on sketches - Morgan's friend b-day party is today, I've got to get moving!), so put me in some girly/Disney ones as needed, you know I'm easy.

Sorry about missing groups. With the slowness yesterday morning, I should have gone back through it all.

Doubling on sketches is fine. I'm pretty sure I put that in the rules. There is no way anyone is going to make the exact same layout even using the same sketch. Last time we had groups of four using the same sketches and all of them looked different.
ETA I didn't, it was only the titles I specified. Let me go fix that.
Let me go through and make the necessary changes.

With the stars and stitching, can you stitch through acetate or those clear backings from Jolee stickers [some are much thinner than others]? Just where the photo would be. I do that with the stickers that go over top of the photos. Leave the clear backing just over the mat part so the photo can be slid in.

The positioning of the stars in the sketch for that last small photo is through the top half...so that the stitching would actually be on the photo. SO, according to that, you couldn't slide the photo under. But, if you are ok with it, I could probably just scoot each mat (one up and one down) a little. Then, there would be a bit of room to put the shapes between them. It's up to you...alters it a little.

I have started pulling papers and planning out my layouts so of course I HAD to go shopping for some needed items. Michaels has their printed paper .59 cent designs (not cardstock) on sale 4/1.00 and they have jolee's 3-d and Sticko brand stickers 40% off. Hobby Lobby has all of their single sheet paper 50% off. The patterned paper they sell is thin and flimsy though...so for this swap you'd have to mount it on top of a cardstock base if you are using it for the bottom 12x12 layer. I just wanted to share in case you needed to shop.

I had to use a photo mat spot as a journaling box since you can't journal on the hamster ball as the sketch wants you to. Also I flipped it around a bit since my clip art was "running" the other direction. I put a clear transparency on top of the hammy ball to make it look more realistic. I hope you like it Annie!:hug:

If you are doing this sketch...You know how we are suppossed to cut photo mats for the pictures. You can't cut 3 mats 4.25 x 4.25 for the vertical photo strip--so you'll need to just use 1 long piece of paper that the pictures can be mounted on top of. Mine has mats--only because I shortened the middle one to make a jouraling spot.

That little stinker got out of her bin last night. Wyatt didn't put the lid on and she just hopped herself right out I guess. We keep it on the floor, so it wasn't too far of a hop. She had a good time for about an hour. Found her in the play room. Unfortunately she was behind things that I couldn't reach my hand and get her and bring her out. We got her ball and put it where she could see it. She came right out, sniffed at it and jumped right in. :)

Using the single strip there is a good way to show exactly where the photos go for that section of Sketch #17SA.

For Sketch #4SA and Sketch #4SB, that also can be just the strips as shown for the row of photos. On Sketch #12SC, you can modify that one so that is is a single strip for it's row of three photos.

I used silver shimery paper, there are snowflake stickers on the two corner squares....the small photo mat is pop-dotted up a bit from the other mat
added the sparkly swirl glitter tape across the top, thought it needed some extra bling! silver ribbon on photomats. all is cut and just needs to be put together, that will be tomorrow's project!

Cute! Maybe a little aerosol can with glitter/stickles coming out of it like it is spraying?? You could put the can on the bottom left corner of the 4 x 6 and make the stickles spray/swirl around the edge?? Don't know if it will work or not, just an idea.

Hi all! I was working on my book and decided to share my take on Sketch #12SC! I am using this layout for the swap, but I had an idea for the Magic Kingdom using it, too. I still have to embellish, and one of the photos on the forst page will be replaced with a journaling box. I think I'll replace the yellow box with a Mickey-head journaling box - or I have yellow journaling paper. Don't worry - my Epcot page is completely different. That's one reason I love this sketch - it's so versatile!

Question: For bday group 6, I am considering sketch 4SB. I would use that as the right hand page and use the mirror image for the left page. Is this okay? My title will be Ready Set Blow

You can use a mirror or you can change it so that the journaling is in the strip on the second page instead of more 3x4 photos. What I would do is try to copy the main solid middle piece and the horizontal strip to show continuity. It does not have be an exact duplicate at all.

This goes for any of the single turned double sketches.

Finished a layout and wanted to share. Group 17a Beachy theme. I used sketch #4SA, but turned the title vertical. Hopefully you like it. The jolees stickers are all 3d and the castle and bucket have sand on them.

The title took some time. I tried something new...from an issue of Creating Keepsakes Feb. 2002 (eek--I've been wanting to try this technique that long? How pitiful!) Anyhow, it is paper pierced with some marker dots as well to make it easier to read. I think it resembles sand. What do you think?

Thank you for the nice comments. I can't decide whether to use this for Rope Drop or Fantasyland - I have lots of pics for Fantasyland! But the signs to me kind of capture the chaotic fun of Rope Drop - and we always go to Fantasyland first!

I can give instructions - no problem! They were easy to do!

1. I used the Cricut for the arrows -
*George/Basic Shapes - Rectangles, regular and irregular (2" to 2.5")
*Mickey and Friends: The Icon for the Diner is arrows for their signpost (that signpost was my inspiration!). I used the shift function so I got just the arrows. (Real Dial Size, 3-3.25 inch) I also used this cartridge for the Mickey hands that are "pointing" (1")
*Summer Vacation: the "turn arrow" I think they call it Arrow-2. I cut a few of these to make the arrow straight, but it looked just like Mickey and Friends, only straighter (instead of irregular). These were about 2.5 to 3 inches in size

2. The posts were just scraps and a Mickey-ear border.

3. The words were printed. I tried vellum, but I didn't like the way it looked (too formal.) I used cardstock and printed them in different fonts, trying to match the original signs in Fantasyland. I kept the names of the fonts, if you need those, too.

4. Cut out the words and put them on the arrows. I matted them at one point, but I ended up liking them directly on the signs better.

5. Assemble posts and place signs - I pointed them all different directions!

Hope that gives you what you need! Let me know if I left anything out or if you have questions!

I used a head pin (I believe it is called??) from the jewelry section of any craft store. I like them because they aren't as pointy as a real pin, and the wire isn't as stick so they bend easier to secure to layouts. The easiest way though is to get corsage pins and have a large bead at the end of the pin already. Then you just add your beads on the pin and put craft/jewelry glue on the button of the last bead. The only problem with corsage pins is then you always have the same color on top, but some people will coat that bead in stickles or glitter to change it up??

If ladies would be interested in participating, I guess I could look into hostessing one on this board. They are super easy to make, super cheap to ship (about $1.50), and really cute!! Plus you get a variety of pins without buying a lot of beads. Perfect for cards or layouts.

While I was bagging up a set of my pages, I came across a set whose pages didn't align. I was very annoyed with myself and I as I started to take it apart while berating myself for sloppy work, I realized that the problem wasn't that the pages didn't align, but rather that I had mixed up the order of my pages.

In order to prevent this from happening when you go to sort them, I will label the back of the pages 1, 2, 3, 4 -- when you sort, you'll need to look for the left page labeled 1 and the right page labeled 1. I do intend to bag them that way, but if they become disordered, you'll be able to get it to right without having to line up all 8 pages to figure which ones match. Make sense?

I love the hat pin idea for an embellishment and a swap. The layout looks great. Do not worry too much about the curled edges. One, it gives it dimension and two most of them will be put into page protectors.
