Doug Ė My DH. He works in the pipeline construction industry. That means very long hours and usually far away from home. He also is a hunter, and films his hunts for a popular production company. You can watch Doug on their TV shows and DVDís. Doug loves to hunt and fish, and takes the boys with him as often as he can.

Brandy Ė Me! Trip planner and executor and reporter. I did everything, everyone else just had to show up. I like to read, watch our boys play sports, and hunt with Doug. I own a small business in our home town. I have young part time employees who always want extra hours in the summer, so they were glad to cover for me while I was gone.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/Intros/IMG_1703.jpg

Coltin Ė 15 year old son. He had just finished his freshman year of high school. Scary stuff! Heís a pretty great kid, but he does have some normal teenager-ish attitude sometimes. He likes to play baseball and football, run track and listen to and record rap music. He hunts with DH, but I think he would rather be on the editing side of the camera.

This is how most of his pics turn out. He's not in to being photographed right now. lol.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/Intros/IMG_1621.jpg

Eli Ė 5 year old son. He actually turned 5 on our trip and having a birthday at WDW has to be the coolest thing ever! He likes all sports and canít wait til he is old enough to play football. His goal in life is to be just like his big brother.

Back Story
We had planned to surprise the kids with the trip, but Coltin found out about it 3 days before we left! I was a little disappointed, but it was better than him hearing the surprise and not being excited. We did tell Eli the night before the trip, but I didnít get the immediate reaction I was looking for. He did get excited when all the grandparents came over to say goodbye and give him money for souvenirs. He had a hard time going to sleep that night.
The Details:
When: June 5-11
Where: All-Star Music Family Suite
How did we get there: We drove 890 miles (one way!)
Tickets: Basic MYW
Dining Plan: Yes, regular version

Daily Plan:
Saturday, June 4: Traveling day 1
Sunday, June 5: Check in Day, Magic Kingdom Whispering Canyon Cafť 7:00pm,

I had our trip all planned out, but I didnít have a solid plan on how to get to Orlando. I knew we would be driving, and the approximate route we would take, but I didnít have a definite plan on when we would be leaving. Doug didnít know when he would be getting off work for our vacation. It was possible that he would have to work on the 4th, which we had planned to be our 1st day driving. Doesnít his boss understand we need to get out of town?!?! So with that in mind, I started packing the kids a few days ahead of time. I made sure all the laundry was done, made arrangements with the girl taking care of our outside dogs and watering the plants, left my little dog with my mom, had someone washing the towels at work, and had the schedule made for the employees. I got the carís oil changed and tires rotated. I filled up the gas tank. Then, Doug got to come home on Friday the 3rd! We would be able to leave early and spend the night on the road at the beach to play a little on the way.

Bright and early Saturday morning I got up. All of the bags were packed but they needed to be put in the car. I got dressed and loaded as much as I could before waking Doug up.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/IMG_1866.jpg

Eli was really happy that I had those snacks packed for the drive. We woke the kids up to get dressed and eat a quick breakfast. We got everyone and everything loaded and pulled out of the driveway!

We left at:

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/IMG_1868.jpg

This was later than I had planned. We were going to drive about 8 hours to either Destin or Panama City Beach, depending on where we could get a room for the night.

Eli was excited! :yay:

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/IMG_1867.jpg

Colt was already plugged in.:cool2:

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/IMG_1870.jpg

Doug drove 1st because he knew the route at the beginning of the drive.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/IMG_1869.jpg

Crossing the Mississippi River.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/IMG_1873.jpg

We drove about 200 miles before stopping to eat lunch at Arbyís. Gourmet! But we donít have one in our town, so at least it is different. I drove after lunch. About 115 miles after lunch we hit I-10 in Gulfport, MS where we stopped for gas.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/IMG_1874.jpg

We drove on to Mobile, and waited in traffic for about 30 minutes before we could go through the tunnel! We finally arrived in Destin, FL about 5pm. We couldnít find a room anywhere that we wanted to stay. Doug drove for a while and I looked from my iPhone trying to check in somewhere. And then, it started pouring! We knew there would be no beach time before the sun went down, so we decided to head to PCB to find a room for the night.

Once we got there, we found a room at The Palmetto Inn. It wasnít ideal, but it was clean and it would do for only one night. We wanted a Gulf view. Why did I think I could get this without a reservation? We got our overnight bag out of the car and went to eat. We were at the beach, and where did we go? Longhorn Steakhouse. Yes, I have a few carnivores in my household. Lol. So after a delicious supper, we headed back to our motel and walked on the beach in the moonlight because it had finally stopped raining.
We planned to get up in the morning and head to the beach for a little while before getting back on the road to WDW. We had to check out by 10:30 am, so this wouldnít put us too far behind.

I'm enjoying you TR. Is this the first one you've ever written? I"m not sure if I could ever do something like this. I've read a few here on the boards aand always say I wish I would do this but not sure if I could. Anyway great job so far I'm sure you had a blast!
Did you say you drove 800 miles one way?!
It's 1,300 (RT) miles from MA 800 1 way seems kinda high from Arkansas??

Great TR so far! We were there from the 8th-12th. :)
Destin is my favorite beach and yeah it would be impossible to get a room there with no reservation, lol. ;) We love PCB too though, I hope you had a nice night there!
Can't wait to read more about your trip!

This is my 1st attempt at a trip report. I really want it for myself to help remember the trip, but I might as well share it here too! I really is that far from AR. I guess it's longer because we have to drive east as well as south. And the detour to the beach added to our travel.

Thank you! I did have a reservation at PCB a couple of days before we left, but DH didn't know for sure if he would be off work, so I cancelled it. The kids and I did go back to Destin with my MIL for 4 nights, so they got more beach time.

Welcome! I always tell people that Doug would rather bowhunt than sleep or eat. lol. He got really excited once we got on property and he saw a deer crossing sign.

We really enjoyed having the suite! 2 bathrooms and a place to close the door at night so we didn't have to hear the TV or computer noises all night long. Teenagers stay up LATE! lol.

Travel Day 2
We got up this morning around 8 am. We had to cross the road to get there, but we hit the beach early. No crowds at this rope drop! We traveled light since we wouldnít be there long, so there are no pictures from PCB. I will share a few pics from our trip to Destin. Eli had never seen the beach and had so much fun jumping over the waves. Colt hadnít been in a while and really enjoyed being in the water too. When we went to Destin Colt mastered the art of boogie boarding.

We had to check out by 10:30, so we quickly showered and got packed and got back on the road. Doug drove 1st again this day while I took a little nap. We stopped in Tallahassee to get some gas and eat lunch. We really werenít in a hurry to get to WDW, so we ate at Red Lobster. I didnít take any food pictures because my family would have thought I was insane!

We did get some comments on our shirts though. My big idea for a great photopass pic for our 1st day at WDW was for all of us to be wearing red AR Razorback shirts. The waitress asked us if we were fans. I also promised my family this would be the only time I asked them to match.

After lunch I drove the rest of the way. We were trusting the map on my iPhone to get us there. Now if you noticed in my daily plan post, we had a 7:30pm ADR at Whispering Canyon Cafť. It was obvious to us that we would not make it since we went to the beach Sunday morning. I called the reservations line and was able to get one for 9:15 that night. So, we just drove and didnít worry too much about getting there super fast. We did get stuck in some traffic around Ocala. There was a truck on fire on our side of the road! Hopefully whoever was in there was okay.

Up next, we arrive at All Star Music Resort!

Hi from Arkansas!

Yes, it really is that far from here to Disney! :lmao: We drive, too! I always say they should just poof in a new road :wizard: so that we don't have to drive North East to go South! That road to Memphis sure seems long...:rolleyes1

So, how far out of the way is it to stop at the beach? We just can't decide which route we like best, but haven't gone through Mobile. If it's not too bad, maybe I can talk my DH into making a stop there sometime. It's so hard to go to Florida without going to the beach, but we don't usually go once we're there because it's so hard to leave Disney once you're there!

I can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip! :goodvibes

Hi! And welcome. We don't have to drive through Memphis to go south. You must live farther north than I do.

The side trip to the beach probably added about 100 miles total. Of course, part of that was from my lack of planning and not having a reservation. But it was a lot farther off of I-10 than I realized.

Thanks! I'm glad you joined in!

So glad you've had some time to write more.
It's always nice to stop at the beach. It kinda sounds funny to me when people say they've never been to the beach. I live and grew up about 15 min. away from the coast. So glad your little one got to experience it. I LOVE the beach, and of course the ones in FL are way better. The water looks beautiful!!

To anyone who was reading this trip report, I'm sorry I've been gone so long! I put this on the back burner for a little while due to life being busy, and before I knew it 2 months had gone by! I am going to try very hard to get back to it and finish it quickly. Finally, around 7:00 we were seeing this!

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20Day%202/IMG_1878.jpg

We followed the road signs and made it to the guard house to tell them we were checking in.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20Day%202/IMG_1879.jpg

We walked in to the lobby and there was no line. I had done online check-in, so everything was ready and of course our room was ready. Eli was very excited to get his ďHappy BirthdayĒ button. I offered to get Coltin one (even though his birthday is in March) but he declined. So we headed off in search of our home for the next 6 nights!

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20Day%202/IMG_2014.jpg

He was dancing in the lobby!

We were in the Jazz Inn building 9. We were on the 2nd floor looking over a courtyard, I guess. I really liked our room location. We were very close to the pool and Melody Hall, but it was still very quiet. And my DH could see trees, which is good for him. We did get the family suite, because we have a teenage son, and we wanted to be able to shut the door and have some privacy. Having 2 bathrooms was a big plus for us too! Eli thought the pull out couch and chair was very cool, and immediately claimed the couch as his.

We brought our things in to the room and just threw it all down. LOL. We headed straight for the bus stop so we could eat at WCC. Doug wanted to drive, and I said, ďNo way! This is why we are staying on property!Ē So we took the bus to the Magic Kingdom.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20Day%202/IMG_1880.jpg

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20Day%202/IMG_1882.jpg

When we arrived we headed over to the boat launch and found the resort launches and the ďrightĒ boat to take us to the Wilderness Lodge. I really thought DH would enjoy this meal because the atmosphere should appeal to him.

We just missed a boat, so we had to wait a little while to catch the next one. DH struck up a conversation with a couple of ladies from Louisiana over his shirt choice.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20Day%202/IMG_2015.jpg

For anyone who doesnít know, the AR vs LSU game is a big deal every year!

We got on our boat and made our way to the Wilderness Lodge. The boat ride was so pleasant! Eli loved seeing all the sights from the water. We even caught the Electric Water Pageant. When we got to the dock we went straight up to the lobby to check in at Whispering Canyon Cafť. On our walk inside we passed the pool (beautiful!) and saw that they had the movie playing outside. Eli was intrigued. I told him they would do that at our hotel too. We checked in by 9:00 (15 minutes early) and were told we would have to wait a bit. I looked around and there were lots of empty tables. And servers that appeared to have nothing to do.

The boys entertained themselves in the lobby for a while.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20Day%202/IMG_1888.jpg

I shopped in the mercantile store. We finally were seated around 9:45. Our server was very friendly and attentive to Eli concerning his birthday. He wasnít sure he liked the attention though. Colt was very excited about the bottomless milkshakes! We all ordered the skillets. Everything was really good, but again slow. We finally were finished with our meal, we skipped dessert, but Eli got his 1st birthday cupcake of our trip.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20Day%202/IMG_1885.jpg

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20Day%202/IMG_1886.jpg

It was huge! And we were really ready to hit the Magic Kingdom. So we asked them to box it up for us and settled the bill. We headed back to the dock and caught a boat to the Magic Kingdom!

Finally we see the Castle!

We enjoyed our boat trip back to the Magic Kingdom. It was very pleasant outside, not too hot. Of course, it was almost 11pm at this point! We made our way to the turnstiles and used our KTTW cards for the very 1st time. I have to say, I loved the evening EMHís this night! Thanks WDW for the extra time! We walked under the train station and around the Town Square where we got our 1st glimpse of Cinderella Castle. It is absolutely beautiful at night! I love the different colors (and I canít wait to see it decorated for Christmas!!). Eli was mesmerized and so excited. We made our way down Main Street barely glancing into the shops. We got to the Hub and the big boys were itching to ride a mountain! Somewhere along the way I told Eli about The Haunted Mansion, and thatís where he wanted to go. So, Doug and Coltin went to the right to Tomorrowland, and Eli and I went left towards Liberty Square. I remembered in line at HM that I had Doug and Coltís KTTW cards and they would need them to get on the ride! I got my phone out to call them and I had already missed a call from them. We met back at the Hub again and I gave them their cards. Then we headed our separate ways again. HM was a complete walk-on. Eli wanted me to hold him in the stretching room. Then, of course, someone screamed. I had warned him that it might happen, and he just squeezed my neck tightly. He wanted to leave, but I wouldnít let him. I told him that if he was scared to close his eyes. We got in our Doom Buggy and took off. Eli seemed scared several times, but he made it through the ride and wanted to go again. So we did! While on the ride the second time I got a text from Colt. ďAre there any thrill rides in this park?Ē Really, Colt? REALLY?? I spent 7 months planning, researching, reading, shopping and 30 minutes in to this trip you are questioning me? I told him already that this was not like 6 Flags and that is a Theme park, not an amusement park. I just ignored him (to be nice and not go off on him) and went on IASW with Eli. We made our way through Fantasyland with very little wait anywhere. We met up with Doug and Colt to ride Peter Panís Flight. Near the entrance to Mickeyís PhilharMagic, we ran into our 1st character. It was Donald Duck!

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20Day%202/Photo0001FourBySix.jpg

He had a Photopass Photographer with him, so we got a card and had our picture made and got his autograph.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20Day%202/Photo0008FourBySix.jpg

Donald even noticed Eliís birthday button and wished him HB in his autograph book. We then spotted Goofy over by the carousel so headed over there quickly. We were the last to get a picture with him and then he went in for a break.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20Day%202/IMG_1895.jpg

I was really surprised to see the characters out at night. It was after 1 a.m. at this point. The big boys came back and we rode Dumbo in the dark.

Wow! What a great update. glad to see you made it back to your TR.
I can't believe you went that late with such a little one- that is awesome!!
Looked like a lot of FUN. Birthdays are the best at Disney!!
Too bad you didn't get a family pic that night with all of you in AR gear- that would have been cute.
I would think your DS probably liked RnR and EE rollercoasters better than the ones in MK. :)

It was awesome! It wasn't too hot, and the lines were short!

My little one is a night owl! Lol. He would stay up that late every night if I let him. DS15 is a thrill rider. He did have a favorite later in the week. ;)

Did you like OKW? I wanted to stay in a villa somewhere, but ended up needing to save all the money possible so we went for the suites. We loved EMH at night at MK!

Fall is very busy for us. Football, soccer, deer season, Halloween, etc.

Last week was homecoming at Colt's school. They dress-up days during the week. On Wednesday they had "Duct Tape Day." We made him a football jersey out of tape. lol. He said he would have won the competition if we had made pants too.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20day%203/398.jpg

He also got hurt during the game Friday night. He tackled a player from the other team and his helmet came off and he got cleated in the face. :scared1: He went to the ambulance and they taped him up and he finished playing the game! I was so proud of him for going back out there. I know it took a lot of courage from him. (Scroll really fast if you don't want to see the pic of his injury!)

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20day%203/403.jpg

We went to the ER as a precaution after the game. They gave him antibiotics to prevent infection and used dermabond. He was so happy he didn't need stitches!

Eli came to work with me yesterday, so needless to say, nothing much got done!

His face actually healed really fast! I don't think he will even have a scar. He had to get stitches in his top lip last year, he remembers them well! :scared1:

We are so excited about our trip! I got all of our Mickey the last couple of days. We are flying this time. Magic Express here we come! :woohoo:

EPCOT

On Monday of our trip we were headed to EPCOT. We were out so late the night before I tried not to panic when everyone was still asleep at 10. I got up quietly and got myself ready, then I woke Eli up. He would take care of Doug and Coltin waking up. Lol. When we finally left the room, Colt asked for breakfast, then Doug said that sounded good. So we went to the food court so they could get some Mickey waffles. (They really didnít understand that I was planning on breakfast in the room to save our counter service credits.) Eli wasnít hungry and I had eaten a Pop Tart while everyone else was still sleeping. They finished and we headed to the bus stop. We would be getting to the park later in the day than I wanted to, but I was trying very hard to be calm about it. We were all tired, and there was no need in all of us being grouchy from not getting enough sleep.

We didnít have a lot of time before our 1:30 ADR at Teppan Edo, so I went for Fast Passes on Soariní while the boys just checked things out. I suggested things. Do you want to ride The Seas? No. Do you want to go to Innoventions? No. Do you want to ride Spaceship Earth? No. (This was all coming from Doug.) So, then we went to check out the line for Test Track. It was long, over an hour, and we didnít want to do the single rider line with Eli. We did verify that he was tall enough though!

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20day%203/IMG_1905.jpg

We headed over to Mission:Space and we all went on the Green side to be safer for Eli. We all liked it, but Eli really enjoyed playing in the tunnels after the ride. Doug and Coltin went back through to try the orange side, and said it was okay, not that different from green. We let Eli play for a little while, but needed to be on our way to Japan.

On our way to the World Showcase Eli really started to fade fast. He was complaining that his stomach hurt. He hadnít eaten anything and he was hungry and grouchy and didnít want to walk. It was too hot and he is heavy! So, I left them on a bench near a bathroom in case he really was sick and headed to the IG to rent a stroller. Best idea ever! After he got a ride we made it quickly to Japan and climbed all the stairs to check in. We were early, but we were seated almost immediately. The CMs working there didnít understand me when I asked for crackers for my little boy. Lol. We were joined by another family of 4 and our waitress came out quickly to take our orders. Very soon our chef came out and started cooking!

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20day%203/IMG_1909.jpg

Eli was much happier just getting something to drink, then even better once food was put on his plate.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20day%203/IMG_1906.jpg

So, I learned a lesson, make him eat no matter what he says! Doug was really disappointed that the rice didnít get cooked on the grill like they do at hibachi grills around here. Who likes plain white rice? I know Eli and I had shrimp and I believe Colt had chicken and Doug got steak. We all really enjoyed this meal and would definitely eat here again.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20day%203/IMG_1908.jpg

I got dessert here too, the ginger cake. It was pretty good! Our waitress had noticed Eliís birthday button and brought him a chefís hat and ice cream.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20day%203/IMG_1911.jpg

Then Colt wanted to wear the hat too.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20day%203/IMG_1912.jpg

We settled our bill and headed out on a trip around the world.

Making our way around the WS was slow and at times painful. No one wanted to look at anything. Doug kept asking where the shows were. He remembered seeing shows at EPCOT when he was a kid. So, finally we stopped in the America pavilion and listened to the Voices of Liberty. While we were waiting to go inside, a CM noticed Eliís birthday button and said she had a special phone call for him.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20day%203/IMG_1913.jpg

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20day%203/IMG_1914.jpg

It was Goofy wishing him Happy Birthday! Voices of Liberty were good, and it was air conditioned!

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20day%203/IMG_1915.jpg

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20day%203/IMG_1916.jpg

We watched The American Adventure (Eli was bored with this most of the time), but I really enjoyed it. We continued our way around and I left the boys near some drums and I went ahead to try to get FP for Test Track. They were all gone by then so I told Doug and Colt to try the Single Rider Line. Doug said no. (He said no to almost everything all day.) So, we went to The Land for our ride on Soariní. It was a hit with everyone. Thank goodness! Doug really wanted to go back to the room and Colt wanted to go with him. So they went ahead and I took Eli for a ride on Spaceship Earth. We had a very short wait and were soon on our journey.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/Disney%20World%20day%201/WDW%20day%203/IMG_1921.jpg

Then we went to MouseGears so he could shop. Doug had promised him a toy and he picked a monorail. We headed out of the park and back to our ďapartmentĒ for the night.

(At some point in the day I took Eli to the Character Spot to meet Mickey, Minnie and Pluto. We didnít wait for Goofy and Donald since we had met them the night before. And, we had an ADR the next night at Chef Mickeyís.)

Eli waiting patiently.

We loved Teppan Edo. It was also my b-day while there and I too got a hat and yummy dessert- so fun!! My older DS wanted to wear the hat too.
It's not too much fun when not everybody wants to do the same thing. Now I know why you are going with just Eli this trip. Test track if one of my boys' faves!! We must have rode that 5 or 6x this past trip. The FP do go fast though.
My DS10 loves Spaceship Earth!! He loves to make funny faces and make a new movie at the end each time. This is also a multiple ride attraction for us.
I hope Eli did get to go on the Seas ride it is so cute. (especially for little ones). Although my DS14 still goes on almost everything NOT IASW!! lol
Hopefully your next day was a little better.
Oh I forgot about the AA show and voices of lib. I cry everytime I see that show it's just so patriotic!!

We never did make it to the Seas. Next week for sure! But he loved SE. He kept wanting to know what was in the ball! Yes, that is a big part of the reason I want to go back with just Eli. He likes to do everything, not just assume that he won't like it.

Monday Night

This one is light on pics. Sorry!

When Eli and I arrived back at ASMu, we found Coltin on the computer in the living room and Doug asleep in the bedroom. Colt told me they took the wrong bus and had to walk from All Star Movies (or Sports) I donít remember now. So donít let anyone tell you that the All Star Resorts always share busses. Itís not true!

This wouldnít have been a problem, except Doug was sick. The reason he said no to everything all day long was that he had a horrible stomach ache! He never said anything though. :confused3 So, I checked on him and offered him some meds (I had come prepared!) and tried to get him to eat something, but he declined. He was sure that he had food poisoning, but no one else was sick, so I'm pretty sure he had a bug. I was so glad we had 2 bathrooms so we didn't have to share that night! So, to let him rest, Eli and I put on our swim suits and gathered the dirty clothes and headed to the pool and Laundromat. We went to the main guitar pool. I traveled light since I had to carry the laundry stuff, so I only had my phone with me. We threw the clothes into 2 washers ($2 each) and headed to the water. I set an alarm on my phone for 30 minutes to go back and switch it.

The pool was very crowded! There were no empty tables or chairs to put my things down, so Eli swam (he was wearing floaties) and I watched from the side of the pool so I could keep my phone with me. We switched the laundry and set my phone for 30 more minutes.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l158/armom30/6c1ad6dd.jpg

He spent a little bit of time in the kiddie pool too. He wanted to take off the floaties, but I only allowed it there since I wasn't in the water with him. When the clothes were dry, I dragged him out and we went back to the room. We checked on Doug, who was still sleeping and maybe feeling a little better (at least not in the bathroom). Eli put on dry clothes while I folded all the clean ones. Then we headed to the food court for supper. Iím pretty sure Eli had the kidís pizza meal and I had the Chicken Alfredo. Yum! After we ate, Eli discovered the arcade. He loved it there! I let him play a few games, then convinced him to go back to the room to sleep. The next day was the Animal Kingdom and Eliís 5th birthday!

Plans for our upcoming trip:

I just thought I would throw this out there is anyone is interested!

When: November 11-15
Where: All Star Movies (I requested the Toy Story section)
How: Flying Southwest (non-stop flight)

We will drop DS15 off at school that Friday morning, then head to the airport. We have about 3 1/2 hours to drive, but we got a better fare and a non-stop flight. :woohoo: We will arrive around 4:20, ride the Magic Express to check in to the ASM. We will probably grab supper in the food court then head over to the Magic Kingdom for MVMCP!

Saturday 11/12 we will be at Animal Kingdom. I have a reservation at Boma for that night so that we can see the AKL. I'm sure Eli will love it! Does anyone know if the Finding Nemo show is still going on? I can't find showtimes anywhere.

Sunday 11/13 we will go to Hollywood Studios. They are having EMH in the evening. This is our speed, we are night owls! I also have an ADR at 50's Primetime Cafe for lunch. I want to catch the Osbourne Lights and Fantasmic!

Monday 11/14 we will be at EPCOT. I have an ADR at Chef Mickey's for 11:20. This time is not ideal, but all I have been able to get. This will allow us to ride the monorail too. I really want to catch Illuminations this night. We missed it this summer. This is also the day after the last day of F&W 2011. I did this on purpose, because with Eli, I didn't want to fight the crowds there.

Tuesday 11/15 is our check out and fly home day. Our flight is at 1:20 which means we will have to catch the ME at 10:20. :sad2: We won't have much time at all, but we may hit up the MK again for a couple of rides, if I can get Eli up and out the door early enough!

With the time change coming home, we will land at 2:20. Then drive home and be sad that we aren't still at WDW.

I'm sure finding nemo is still at AK. We didn't see it this year but usually do.
Is the only day you are at MK for MVMCP? b/c that's not much time for rides. They usually have lots of different character meet and greets for the party and you waste a lot of time in lines. We saw the 7 drawfs last year! it was awesome.
The Osborne lights are incredible!!! You and Eli will LOVE them. I didn't want to leave. I could have watched them all night.
Going at Christmas is the BEST!!! So magical
Have a great time. I'm so jealous

To bad your DH wasn't feeling good. And all along I thought he just didn't wanna do anything. A few years ago my DS was sick and we missed a day at MK b/c he got sick while we were waiting for the ferry. It's not fun being sick while you're there. We went back to the resort he felt better by the next day, phew!!
I wanted to tell you we ate at Boma in August for the first time. I was hesitant after reading the menu but it was excellent. Ask about using the night vision goggles to look at animals if you're there at night.

We do only have plans for the MK the night of the party. Maybe for a little while before we fly out on the 15th. We spent a full day there this summer. I feel like the other parks got the shaft a little.

I just saw this and enjoyed reading about your trip! I can relate to having the age gap between kids. We have three boys- 14, 11, and 5. When we went a few years ago for the first time, it seemed like my DH and I were always splitting up with the boys or waiting around for someone. My oldest doesn't really care if he goes back, but I wanted my youngest to go again and really enjoy the characters so I took him for a week last January while his brothers were in school. He loved it and was the perfect age to enjoy all the characters! You'll have a great time again when you go back:)

Tuesday, June 7th

This day was Eliís 5th birthday. Where did my baby go??

Since we all went to bed relatively early, I didnít feel too bad about waking them up while I was getting ready. Of course, we had to stop at the food court for Mickey waffles for the big boys! I had eaten a granola bar in the room earlier. Eli spotted the Arcade again and wanted to stop for a few minutes. He did not want to leave! I had a ďbad momĒ moment in there trying to get him out. We finally left and made our way to the bus stop.

When we arrived at AK, I went straight for the stroller rentals. I knew Eli wouldnít make it walking here. We went to the safari for FPís after getting Eli a ride. Once we had them we made our way over to Expedition Everest. On our way there I forced them to stop for pics. Ha ha!

Somewhere on the way Eli talked Daddy into buying him a stuffed animal. Doug reasoned that it was his birthday and he deserved a present. :) It does still live on Eliís bed at home, so I guess itís ok.

We finally made it to EE and had to wait about 30 minutes. Eli was very nervous and picked me as a riding partner. He loved this ride! But, he didnít want to ride again. Doug and Coltin really enjoyed it, so they went through the single rider line to get one more ride in. Eli and I shared a strawberry bar and celebrated his conquest of the big roller coaster!

Next, we headed back to the safari to see some animals while on a 2 week adventure. This line was pretty long. Even with our FPís, we had to wait a while. We liked this, Eli really loved seeing all the animals. I let him use the camera part of the time.

(I won't bore y'all with pics of the same animals you've seen before!)

We grabbed a snack of fruit from a cart after the safari, then headed to Dinoland. We rode Dinosaur! And Eli kept his eyes closed and ears covered the whole time. :rotfl: Doug and Eli rode Triceratop Spin while Colt looked around there and I went to the restroom. We also spent a little bit of time playing some games. Eli didnít win the 1st game he played, but the CM noticed his ďHappy BirthdayĒ button and gave him a prize anyway. Doug is very competitive and he and Coltin played some games and they won Eli a big shark and a big bear. Wouldnít it be nice to see a pic of all this loot? My memory card was full. :headache: Doug had given me a card from his laptop bag. It had 500 deer pics on it so it filled up quickly. I kept deleting some, but then it would tell me that it was full, so I just put the camera away.

Now we headed over to Camp Minnie-Mickey to see Festival of the Lion King. On the way there we watched It's Tough To Be A Bug. Eli was scared of some of the bugs.

We all really enjoyed FotLK, even Doug (who hates musicals). After the show we made our way out of the park. We stopped for a few more pics on the way out.

Can you tell how hot and tired we were?

We did have to wait a little bit on the buses this day. But we were heading back to ASM before our 7:30 ADR at Chef Mickeyís. We had a special birthday dinner planned for Eli!

Birthday Dinner at Chef Mickeyís!

I need to make a quick confession. Our day at AK was not magical. I skipped over the ďbad parts,Ē but it was mostly my bad attitude that made our day bad. I wanted to follow my plan so that we could hit everything. I knew we would miss some things, but sometimes I felt like we werenít even trying to hit them. I had been grouchy ALL DAY LONG! So, when we arrived back at ASMu, Doug took the boys to the arcade for a little while and I put on my swim suit and headed to the Piano pool. I only had about 10 minutes to swim before I would need to get ready to head to the Contemporary. That swim was very therapeutic for me. I felt like my grumpiness and bad attitude washed away in the water! I hope no one else picked it up!

After my refreshing swim, I ran back to our room and quickly showered and dressed for dinner. The boys came back to the room and we headed out. We decided to drive since we only had about 30 minutes before our ADR time. We followed the signs, but got a little confused and ended up driving through the MK area. Twice. Ha ha.

We finally made it to the Contemporary and found a parking space. (I suggested the valet service to save time, Doug preferred to drive in circles waiting on a space to open up.) But, I didnít argue or get upset, I was remaining calm!

When we made it upstairs to Chef Mickeyís to check in, we were about 5 minutes late. The CM at the podium was from Cabot, AR. Doug worked there for 2 years, and it turns out her childhood home was right down the road from his workplace! She checked us in and we went to take the picture with the statue.

There were lots of people waiting, and some had already been there for 30 minutes or longer. We only waited about 10 minutes after our picture and we were lead to our table.

I donít remember what exactly we all ate, but it was good! I know I drank the Pomegranate Lemonade. Yum! I loved the desserts too! Eli loved the atmosphere and the character interaction was great. Our server was fantastic. He kept our drinks fresh and was usually close by if we needed something. An example, Doug only eats 1000 Island dressing on his salad, and they didnít have any on the buffet. He asked one of the CMís behind the salad bar to get him some, and was told they didnít have any there. He told our awesome server, who promptly went somewhere and brought him 2 packets! Doug was impressed and happy.

We took our time eating. All of the characters came around twice too.

I had Eli and Coltin sitting on the outside of the table for easier pictures.

Eli danced and waved his napkin. Coltin tried to discreetly check his phone. Ha ha!

When we finished, we rode the monorail over to the Polynesian to watch Wishes from the beach. (I got this idea from a trip report. Thanks Disboards!) We all really enjoyed the show and Iím glad we didnít try to watch this from inside the park. I donít think Doug would have appreciated the crowds. Eli really liked digging in the sand while we waited too. After the fireworks were ended, we rode the monorail back to the Contemporary and drove back to ASMu.

I had no set plans for the next day, so I talked it over with Colt to let him decide what to do. I gave him some options:

ē Stay at ASM to swim and relax
ē Waterpark
ē Wizarding World of Harry Potter
ē Helicopter Ride
ē Richard Petty Racing Experience
ē Any WDW park

So, what did he pick??

Looks like you had a great day. Couldn't tell you were grumpy.
EE is one of my DS10's favorite rides. It is so fun!
I don't blame Eli for blocking his ears on Dinosaur it is LOUD! and scary.
We had my DS's b-day dinner at CM. Goofy brought him his cake. It was fun. I like the food at CM too. I hear a lot of complaints on the boards, but I still like it there. We haven't been in a few yrs. I think it's time for a visit.
Wow!! 3 more days Eli must be excited!! Did I say that I'm jealous? lol
I forgot to guess what Colton picked- RPDE???

You couldn't tell I was grumpy because I skipped over all those parts where I was telling everyone to hurry up and come on! We're missing out on stuff! lol.

We didn't have a cake for Eli's birthday, but he did have a great time at CM's! We just ate there again Sunday. If I ever finish this report from this summer I'll probably write about this trip with Eli because it was so fun!!
