DS has a leak in his bedroom and Gene came home and decided to fix it. Because of the way the roof is over Justin's room (it used to be a porch), Gene had to climb in a cubby hole up in the attic. It's a tight space and he slipped. I'm on the computer and hear this thud... lo and behold... my kitchen ceiling.

Gene, being Mr. Fixit, decided that the best way to fix the ceiling for now is with......

You guessed it......

Duct tape!

Like any good father, he wanted to pass his skills along to his children, and enlisted Justin in this manly right of passage.

Of course, if one piece of duct tape won't do the job, just use two... or three... or ten.

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid35/pbda70e873ee883c34529b245cb6e6cef/fd2e89f3.jpg

And this is what you get.

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid35/pe9d4d41fa225cb18575cac4af01377df/fd2e89e1.jpg

And he's mine, all mine.

Believe me Laura, Mr. Fixit would have done the same thing until he got the stuff to fix it right.

LOL!!!! That looks like my kitchen ceiling has looked for 2 1/2 years......although...instead of duct tape.....DH used clear packaging tape!!!

They were putting duct work in our house for central air back in 2000.....and he accidentally went through the kitchen ceiling from upstairs!!! He said he would fix it ASAP....it would be easy.......and IT IS STILL patched with the packaging tape!!!!!

Maybe I should post a picture!!!!!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Laura, this is so funny. I work in a department with 2 women, and 11 men. They have pulled us over to the 'duct tape can fix anything' religion. They will love this.

That is TOOOOOO funny! I would have been furious! My DH is actually a very good Mr. Fixit. Sheet rock is very easy to work with. Besides, it looks like a great reason to get rid of the "popcorn" ceiling!:p

I didn't dare get mad (Gene was already mad enough for both of us - and it was an accident) and there was no point in crying, so I figured I might as well laugh about it.

UPDATE: The next morning.....

Well, our kitchen ceiling is painted with textured paint. It doesn't like duct tape.

OBVIOUSLY!!!! Our DH's are related! ... Similar thing happened at my house only it went well beyond Duct Tape!!! I wasn't home and My DH only had a "couple" more boards to put up there. When I came home I saw the vacuum cleaner in the hallway.... THAT should've been my first clue something went terribly WRONG! When I turned the corner to the kitchen, that's when I saw this huge hole in the kitchen ceiling. DH said he 'slipped' too, and immediately tried to play on my sympathy by showing me a huge reddish- purple yellow/blue bruise from the bottom of his thigh to the top of his hip and across his butt..... it was pretty nasty, I must admit. (Sorry, I don't have any pictures). He didn't fall thru the ceiling, he fell straddling one of the supports! I commended him on using the vacuum cleaner ( I was surprised he knew where it WAS)... He proceeded to tell me that the main reason he needed the cleaner was for our Sheepdog (yes, full coat) who was standing directly beneath where DH's leg made it's appearance into the kitchen....pieces of wallboard and insulation all over the dog.... As if the poor animal wasn't traumatized enough, he then vacuums him!!! Our DS (proabably about 2-1/2 at the time)who was very content watching a Disney Movie (I'm sure) walked out in the kitchen, looked up at the hole, looked at the dog , went into his room, got a book and sat on the sofa and did not move! I have so many stories and so little time! Too bad one of the little 'smiley' faces isn't a simple sympathetic nod!
