I got some sticker shock today. The fuel surcharge is included in the price of a ticket for travel between Canada and the US. What I didn't know is that the fuel surcharge is extra on international flights. Dh just got dinged with a 411.00 dollar fuel surcharge:eek: I had no idea:upsidedow

Please tell me that this is not an extra when you get to the airport? I bought tickets for DD and I to go to Europe in August about a month ago, so they're paid for.

No....this would have been included in the total price you paid already.

Which is why I never fly out of Canada!!! That price for fuel surcharge is ridiculous!!! I wouldn't care how far the drive, I'd drive to the US and fly from there. I know it's a hard option for some, I'm thankful I live 15 min from the border.

Yep me too (I live in Windsor and NEVER fly out of Canada) but for this flight I was totally shocked - $400 less p.p. (even with all the taxes) than leaving from the U.S. And to add to the "bizarreness" it was actually cheaper to fly from Windsor rather than Toronto, which saves me a 3+ hour drive. That's why I was worried about the fuel surcharge because my deal seemed too good to be true.
