I know...it's one of THE most debated topics...but periodically, you get a whole new crop of readers with a whole new crop of opinions! So here we go again.....where's the best steak?
We've narrowed it down to Concourse...LeCellier...Shula. Cast your vote please!

Thanks, Mike....heard mixed things about Yachtsman, so it didn't make our family's cut list....but let's expand the list and make it those four and see how votes finish!

My family votes for Le Cellier......we have made it a priority every time we are in WDW. The filet mignion is to die for. I cleaned my plate so well, the waiter didn't even need to clean it for the next guest!!LOL!!

Another vote for LeCellier--I had the 7 oz. filet mignon last Friday night--excellent. The cheese soup is also a must.

La Cellier cheese soup is a bowl of heaven, and even an idiot like me can make it! We tried this last Saturday to mourn our return, and liked it so much we're simply buying larger clothes and having it every night for a while. The recipe can be found at:

http://www.mouseplanet.com/sue_holland/le_cellier.htm

And another vote for the 7 oz fillet.

Bon appetite.

DH and I go to Le Cellier every trip now. He even asks me beforehand, "You made our PS for Le Cellier didn't you?" - LOL He's worse than I am when it comes to steak. I must confess we've never tried Shula's. So I can't compare it to that one, but we liked Le Cellier better than concourse for service, food and atmosphere. Just my opinion. Hope you have a great time no matter where you choose!

The best steak I've ever tasted is at Flying Fish Cafe. I've had it 3 times and it's always wonderful. :)

Just one question *********** -

Did you get to taste any of that steak before the "creeping ooze" took over?

Just kidding! ;) We have Flying Fish on our list for our next trip to WDW. I CAN'T WAIT!!

Yachtsmans Steakhouse
Service is impeccable and the food wonderful.

Le Cellier, I think has become too popular and kind of gone down a bit. But they do still have the best chedder cheese soup.

We have had steak at YSH, Le Cellier and Shula's. While YSH and Le Cellier are good, Shula's is head and shoulders them. It is simply the best beef I have ever had. It is pricey but worth every penny. The portions are huge so with an a la carte the sides can be shared.

For as much as I endorse Shula's they should buy my dinner.

Having just done Shula's, I'd now give the nod to them for the best (and largest) steaks. Better than Ruths Chris and about equal to Mortons.
But to be sure, YSH has fine steaks, and you can get a good steak at Jiko and the Flying Fish.

aring75, the "creeping ooze" is Sauce Foyot and I swear it's addicting. You'll wish they had given you more. It's a bearnaise-ish sauce (only better than any bearnaise sauce I've ever had.) You can order the steak without the sauce, but you'd be cheating yourself. :teeth:

But the taste of the steak is exceptional in itself, even without the sauce. :)

LOL - ***********!

I might try it, but I'd never hear the end of it from my DH. He believes that a good steak shouldn't be "ruined" with "fancy" sauces!! He won't even use a steak sauce! I'll have to decide if it's worth his lecture to try it out or not.

If your DH gives you grief, tell him he hasn't lived until he has had Steak Oscar - filet, topped with asparagus, crab and bearnaise. It is truely a piece of heaven on earth.

I've never tried most of the restaurants known for steak at WDW. But, I did try a steak at a place you wouldn't expect to have a great steak and it did. The beef filet dish (1st entree on dinner menu) at the San Angel Inn is outstanding. Had to write it in because it was that good.

Had a horrible prime rib at Rose & Crown. Can't believe some people rave over it.

San Angel dish sounds interesting, Honeymom...thanks!
Okay guys...by my count, here's the tally:
Yachtsman 6
LeCellier 5
Shula's 2
Flying Fish Cafe 1
Jiko's 1
San Angel's 1
Thanks...and...keep 'em comin'!!!

I think this place is still fairly undiscovered. My DH is a steak lover,
last year we ate at CSH and LeCellier, we much preferred CSH. The filet was very good, as were the garlic cheddar potatos. We have not tried YSH yet, we will on our Dec trip.

I vote for flying fish--I got a steak without the "ooze" and it was great--my dad also got one, and he said it is in his top 3 ever--trust me, he is 72, a steak lover, it has to be a certain way, etc. and he was thrilled with it!
So one vote for me and one from my dad!:D

We find the Yachtman’s Steakhouse and are seated immediately. We’re at a table for 2 near the back of the restaurant, right next to a table of 12. After a longer than necessary wait, John, our waiter makes an appearance. Nice jacket, Captain! He takes our drink orders and disappears. We see that he is waiting on various other tables, plus the table next to us with 6 adults and 6 unruly children. The table for 12 is having multiple bottles of wine and such, so I can see right away where John’s bread is buttered. Their dessert display looked so good that I decided to forego the appetizer in order to save room....I don’t think good ole John liked this too much. Jane ordered the filet, and I ordered the 24 ounce T-Bone. Both with baked potato. Then John disappeared. Well, he didn’t actually disappear, we could see him waiting on the party of 12 and all his other tables. My beer was empty for maybe 10 minutes and try as I might, I couldn’t get John’s attention. Now, pardon me if I’m wrong, but when I’m paying $36 for a steak, I expect the waiter to at least GLANCE my way occasionally. So, here I am waving my arms, ya know when you THINK a waiter is looking at you, you raise your arm...Then you realize he’s NOT looking at you, so then you have to do something with your raised arm....Like adjust your hair or something? Well, that was me, many, many times. And I mean, this guy is walking RIGHT BY our table many times and I can’t get his attention. By this time the service I’m receiving from John is really starting to tighten my colon, I see the manager making his way thru the restaurant. Just before he gets to our table, he turns around and heads back from where he came...lol. OK, now John is delivering a dessert to tableof12 and I practically reach out and GRAB him and tell him we need more drinks. After awhile our meals come. He puts the plates down and I say, “I’ll need butter for my potato, please”, he says...”It looks like you have enough butter left over from your bread”....And he turns and walks away. I’m sitting there with my mouth dropped open, I’m sure. I mean, this ain’t Shoney’s, folks. This is SUPPOSED TO BE a higher tier restaurant where they are in no way embarrassed to ask for top dollar prices. But man, ya gotta give a little service with that. So, one minute later, I’m becoming a little less subtle in my actions in getting John-boys attention. HEY JOHN, I NEED BUTTER HERE. lol, I didn’t really do it like that, but I had to get his attention and ask for more. I have to say the steak was good, cooked to perfection. Jane’s steak was WAAAAY too rare for her, but she will NEVER mention something like that, and I didn’t know until later. We skipped dessert as I was tired of dealing with Captain John. I left a 10% tip and had a few words with the manager on the way out . I told him I didn’t think the service was commensurate with the prices they are charging. I told him the potato/butter incident and he says...”He should never presume how much butter you want”....After a very lame “I’m sorry”, from him, we crossed Yachtman’s off our future dining list. Hey, we all know the food at Disney is overpriced, a big portion of what they are charging for, in my opinion, is theming and service, in this case they failed.

Bob NC...sorry about your experience. Just this past Saturday night, my wife and I went out to eat (not at Disney...where we live on Long Island)...the two of us alone...babysitter with the kids....and we happened to get seated near an enormous birthday party and...lucky us...got the same waitress as them.
Felt bad for her...but also for us....the empty beer glass is a killer! Felt like asking her where they're kept so I could just go up and get them myself!
Hopefully John is no longer employed at Yachtsman...but they certainly should have knocked something off your bill. (And I have to say, 10-percent is a decent tip considering what you went through.)

We also enjoyed the Chateaubriande for two and now miss it. I read a post awhile back that if you call in advance and request it they will make it for you. I have not tried this yet but I was considering it. The filet was very good though on our last trip in Aug 02.

There was no sauce on the filet that we had in Aug and it was great. We do not believe there was sauce on the Chateaubriande but we are not 100% sure as this was a few years back.

First let me say that the YSH was my biggest disney disappointment. A lot of money! I beleive that if you want to charge me 30.00 for a piece of beef give me my monies worth. We would never return.

La cellier was very good. Shulas was good and expensive too. For my money go off site. The Palm at the Hard Rock Hotel in Universal is excellent as is The Butcher Shop at the Mercado shopping center.

If nothing else I am consistent and honest. DW and I are Plaza III in Fanuiel Hall Marketplace this weekend. The one in Kansas City says it's rated om the top 5 in the US. We'll see. Shula's sets an awfully high standard.

I like them all but I have to put in a word for the value one gets at The Concourse Grill. I have never had a bad steak there (which is the only reason I go there - steak). It doesnt have the atmosphere of some of the others mentioned but it is cheaper by far than most.
Although, the staek I had at FF was one of the best ever. Guess that doesnt help you much!

Another big two thumbs up for LeCellier !

On our last trip to WDW we wanted to try both Yachtsman Steakhouse and LeCellier. We did both within several days of each other for supper, so I think that should be a good baseline for comparison.

Le Cellier lived up to all our expectations ! The steak (filet) and all the other items that we ordered were as good as everyone had said they were. I found the restaurant itself to be quite relaxing, and had no ptoblems at all with the service.

And then there was our dinner at Yachtsman. Though i usually order filet, I decided to try the t-bone since the menu described it as "so tender and full of flavor." I do better meat on my gas grill at home - and I admit that I suck at it ! I had them send it back as I didn't think it was all that good for a $30+ piece of meat. I ordered the filet. It was better, but I still have to say that I was underwhelmed by it. I've had better filets at half the price from Outback.
