AK Swap On their way home!!!

Hey Swappers!! Welcome to the 2011 Animal Kingdom Swap! This is currently the interest thread to toss around ideas, suggestions and requests. It will become the sign-up thread and then the active thread when we are officially rolling!

Here are the specifics:

-Sign-ups will be Thursday, June 30 at 9:00 am EST and will stay open until Tuesday, July 5 at 10:00 pm EST. (I am hoping that allows holiday weekenders to get in either at the beginning or the end.) If anyone won't be around for sign-ups and needs a buddy, please let me know. Also, I could do sign-ups Wednesday instead of Thursday if it is better.

-There will be 3 different types of groups: Mini kits, single element groups and altered letters.

-When you sign up (or as soon as you decide), please list your choice of element for the single element groups.

-The mini kits will include a mat, box, title/topper and extra element of your choice.

-Due date will be Friday, September 30. I need to be fairly firm with this date. We will be leaving for vacation the end of October and I want to be sure the packages are all here in time to swap out and return before needing to get ready for that. So, the most this can be extending will be 10 days. Please keep this in mind when signing up. When we are getting close, if you find you can't complete any/all of your groups, please ask for an angel!

-Required check-ins will be:
July 11th - verify groups and pm info (allowing time for those on vacation
to return)
August 1st - general update
August 22nd - detailed groups status / last call for angels
September 12th - give expected mail-by date
September 26th - mail-by date
September 30th - due date

- I will pm you with a reminder if you forget to check in. After 48 hours with no response I will request angels for your spots. If you are going on vacation or will be out of town, please check in early. If you need an angel, please ask for one as soon as possible. We all have families and emergencies sometimes happen. We understand if you cannot complete - just let us know so we can make proper arrangements.

-After sign-ups, please pm me your name, DIS name, mailing address, email address and phone number when you sign up (I will only use these in an emergency).

-Packaging: Place your completed elements in a Ziploc bag THAT FITS YOUR ELEMENTS (the bag MUST close) with your DISname, name and group letter. Do not address your items to a particular swapper. (That makes it harder for me to sort!) Your label should look like this

Take all of your baggies for a group and place them in GALLON size (or larger) bag, and label with the same. Please use the gallon bag (or larger) -- your items may fit in a smaller bag, but the items you receive back might not. Please include a return address label -- either a USPS priority mail label that you have addressed, or the little ones you would put on envelope. (This cuts down on errors.)

-Mailing: You may send to me, by any method you choose unless you are mailing after September 23rd [note this is before the mail by date]. Then, you must mail Priority WITH Delivery Confirmation. I prefer to send to you using flat rate boxes/envelopes. Please include enough postage in your package for return shipping. The NEW rates are: Envelope or Small Box (9”x6”x2”) - $5.20, Medium/Standard box – $10.95, Large - $14.95. I won’t require Delivery Confirmation, UNLESS you are sending to me AFTER September 23rd. If you want your items shipped to you with DC, please include the $.70, and a filled out slip. I will not mail the items back with delivery confirmation unless you include the $.70. And I am not responsible to for postal errors. Also, please include a label (can be the priority label completed with your info or a small address label) for me to use to return your items to you.

DO NOT include clik-it/ship-it postage. I will not be able to use it since it is only good on the day it was printed, and from the location it was printed.

-I will open additional groups if there is interest and will keep groups with as few as only two swappers if both swappers are willing.

-HAVE FUN!!!!!

-Element list:
Title = standard 8x2 topper (other sizes are okay), welded and shadowed letters, letters on squares, circles, mini tags or other shapes, a large title tag, title on a box, borders, photo mat, altered CD, altered letter (matted @ 4" & embellished).
1 paper piecing (not a single layer diecut)
2 photo mats for a 4x6 photo, 2 layers, smallest layer 4 ¼ x 6 ¼, embellished
2 journal boxes, total of 3 layers, minimum writing space 3x3, embellished
2 tags (or 1 large tag—greater than 2x3), 2 layers, something in the hole and embellished
1 file folder or matchbook (2 if mini) - -embellished
2 slide mounts -- embellished
3 altered paper clips
1 library pocket and tag. Tag must be 2 layers with something in the hole, pocket must be embellished
1 license plate
3 shapes(squares, circles, stars, flowers etc) 2 layers, embellished
1 ATC
Signage/Bookmark: 1PP 2x6, double matted and embellished
Song/Lyric/Poem: 1PP, 3 layers in total and embellished. Min size 3x4, shapes are welcome
1 shaker box - embellished, please be creative and be sure it is secure!
Altered letter: matted at least 4 inches & embellished
2 borders - 12" each and embellished two times

You can mix and match -- 1 tag and box, 1 photo mat and box, 1 tag and 2 squares or shapes, etc.

******Please let me know if you have an idea not listed! We are open to new things.

Suggestions for embellishments include:
Die cuts, stickers, stickles, flock, ink, chalk, brads, charms, flowers, eyelets, ribbon/fiber, sewing, tearing, embossing, stamping, clipart, additional layers of paper beyond double mats (if it would look weird trying to fit in another embellishment, specialty paper (such as embossed, glitter, Bling).

-Groups A-H will be mini kits

-Groups I & J will be altered letters (2" words and 4" letters)

-Groups 1-28 will be single element groups

OK...since it is a little slow moving on here, I am going to get off for a bit and do laundry, dishes and whatever other cleaning I know I will find. I have to leave the house for a little around 11:45 to go pick DD up from field hockey camp. I will check back in before then and be back around 12:15 after. We love the Halloween decorations, too! And the Halloween party is so much fun! The villains are some of my favorite Disney characters. It's just a very hard time for my husband to be away from work, so Thanksgiving is usually when we go. We were there for Halloween in 2003 and again in 2008 - it was so much fun. But, love the Christmas decorations too. All the trees, the osborne lights, candlelight processional, the different santas all over epcot. So much to do! It's definitely a great time to go.

Group G - elephant mini kit

the photo mat has a strip of elephant paper which is not attached so you can orient your photo before adding the strip...the journal box strip is attached....the two tags have little buttons pushed through, they are attached with a glue dot, tape and two pop dots on either side due to the button hole loop on the back...the title is chalked, first layer is inked also..

I'm not really sure about these. I embossed the top layer, then sanded it and inked it with distressing ink. The eyes are stickled. I keep trying to come up with some way to make them cute, but my DD13 keeps telling me to forget it -- there is nothing cute about a croc. What do you guys think? Should I try something different?

I think the croc is wonderful - keep him - but tell me which "folder" you used so I can get it - I really love it, it fits him wonderfully

the title is great too, I need to get better about titles that is one of my weak spots (if you notice alot of my pages don't even have titles but I didn't think they needed them)

I love that paper pack - I need another one of them (DH gave a me a "you are crazy, use the paper you have" look)

A few weeks ago, I was sitting in the living room floor surrounded by stacks of paper packs trying in vain to find the perfect papers for the pics I was wanting to scrap. When I said something about not having any paper that would work, the DH gave me the "you've got to be kidding" look. So I had to inform him that anyone who owns 4 copies of the original Star Wars movies has no room to talk about my paper obsession.:lmao:

Since ya seemed to like the frame - I decided to change the picture for 7x5 instead of the 5x7 & use it for 10b -- so everyone in 1a will be getting both
I made extra so I did up a LO using each (this way you can see how the frame is off & how much room they take up - the other pictures are 3.5x5 in size)

we have 6 copies of Fantasia & 2000 (had another set but one son broke one of the blue rays then trashed all of set -- he did this with a couple of other movies too - so I got 2 more sets of the 4 packs while I could get ahold of them)

thought to use the lion's head for the shape, will chalk it for dimension...the inside of the face does measure 3 x 3, but the outside will be about 6 x 7, would that be to big of a box for everyone??? my other box will be more traditional in shape and size....please let me know what you all think!

Just got my laptop back on Monday from HP. Blasted thing is only 8 months old and has been returned twice! Not very happy about it. So, no, I haven't had a chance yet. The first thing I checked was to make sure the cord fit, though. It does :banana: Hoping to have some time this weekend to play. I'm still soooo intimidated by the looks of the program, though. Determined to master it because Reddy has so many files that I want to cut for our November trip. Once I get it down I'm just gonna sit and cut, and cut, and cut files and not worry about putting pages together until we return. That way all the work is done before, and all the play comes after the trip!

Austin - I know we are going to a movie tomorrow night - a chick flick that 2 of ladies wanted to see then shopping & pedicures on Sat then out to eat supper then going to some bar - was some pool time figured but it is suppose to rain so that may not happen.

Ok so the Dvine ggroup is the one Im most excited about because Im mastering my Imagine :) So for the trim for my mini-kits will be Ivy from the "tie the knot" Cart and then I used the Cricut Imagine cart Snapshot "nature" to make it print leaves directly to the die-cut its self (new thing I just learned off you tube ;). both layers will look like the pic but pop-dotted for height and depth.The mats will be textured Green and bling green from bazzill. Tell me if you like this cause its a test run if you all hate it I will ditch it.

Oh good you guys like the vine :) I put it on the ggreen mats and EWWW So what do think about Deep Purple and black? I have to say it looks PIMP!!! It adds like a grape vine aspect to it...Whatcha think?
