Event swap Interest thread--new info post #1

Hi everyone :wave2:

The event swap (MNSSHP, MVMCP, general Disney Halloween and Christmas) is currently scheduled for sign-ups on July 11th with a due date of September 6th.

After everyone's input I have decided to leave this swap right where it is :thumbsup2 We can push the due date if we find we need more time. What I need now are suggestions for categories and special events at WDW and DLR.

I'm thinking single elements, but, I could be persuaded to have mini-kit groups as well ;) As far as categories MNSSHP, MVMCP, general Disney Halloween, general Disney Christmas, Food & Wine, Star Wars Weekend, Celebrating a birthday at Disney, Flower & Garden. Let me know if there is anything you want added. I'll post group list by July 3rd.

I know we have a lot going on right now, but after the end of this month when all these are due, there is not a lot happening. Just what I am seeing. Whatever you decide is fine, but keep in mind that many are wrapping up.

Cheryl ~ I agree if you want to hold off or postpone.. there really is a lot going on right now..and alot of angel spots that have had to be filled... just let me know what you decide...but I understand whatever you decide!

I think I'd like to at least push it back a little to give all of us a chance to finish with EPCOT and the 2 alphabet swaps. I'm just feeling totally overwhelmed with swaps right now. I may feel differently after my vacation at the end of the month. Let me see what others think and I'll make a final decision by July 5th.

While I am not in many swaps (actually swap free currently).. it overwhelms me with the number of swaps currently and I'm on the outside looking in.. I don't think we all realized how big these 2" letters could be.. the possibilities are endless... thinking for furture..we should divide them up even more! LOL

I don't think I'll be doing the event swap since we don't go to WDW for those events.....am looking forward to the character letter swap though when ever you are ready to start it!

I would be in for this one for MNSSHP and general Disney Halloween. . .and also maybe Food & Wine Festival, since we'll be there for those on our 2012 trip. The fall start date would work well for me (but let's be honest, I'll sign up whenever! ;))

I'm also interested in the character letters! Excited for that one!! :banana:

Cheryl - what if you switched the two...did Character letter sign-ups in mid-July and the events sign-ups in September. They would probably cross over each other, but you shouldn't need to be swapping them at the same time. Like letters maybe could be due end September or mid-October and the event due beginning November?

My letter swap is about ready to swap out and the Outside swap is also. The Epcot is coming to a close in about 2 weeks. The only other ones going on right now are Character and ABC. I will be getting the AK swap ready in the next couple of weeks, but that will have lots of time. Otherwise, we had no sign-ups in June and not much else in July. Just a thought.

I'm definately going to do both. I just need to figure out the timing. I'm overwhelmed with the swaps I'm in.

I have 80 mini-kits :scared1: to make for the ABC swaps and I haven't even figured out how many things I need to make for the character swap.

At least I'm almost finished with the EPCOT swap :)

I'll probably leave the sign-ups exactly where they are on the calendar, I think I just need to catch up on my stuff and then I'll feel better about hosting in mid-July :thumbsup2 Or I may flip-flop them starting with the letters first. :confused3 I'll post an interest thread for one or the other by July 2nd when I get home from vacation :)

You could always leace sign ups as they are and push back the due dates so that anyone who is overwhelmed at the moment has extra time to work on them but knows exactly how much they have to do because they'll already have signed up?

The ABC one is a huge swap at the month - I thought I had a lot doing 30 mini kits but 80!!

Ooh, I like this idea :) Maybe I'll leave sign-ups where they are and extend due dates before the sign-ups start :upsidedow That way there will be no stress.

Just a quick check--are sign-ups for this one still in July? I'm using it as a motivator if they are. . .I have to scrap so much of my stuff before I can sign up!

I might be joining this after all.....there is a big chance Megan and I are going back to WDW in Oct and going to MNSSHP!!!....we have some special friends who will be there and have invited us along....need to work out some things, but looks like we are heading back sooner than we thought :banana:

either 10/13 - 10/19 or 10/16 - 10/22 it depends on my friends plans and a special event for their 13 yr old DD....they are going on a MAW trip for their youngest DD...probably won't know our exact dates until Sept.

I know the kids will be dressing up (at least Logan and Lexi), but don't know about myself an Justin. If we do, it will be a group thing. We were actually tossing around the idea of the Scooby Doo gang...but if not, I will wear a Halloweeny shirt at least. Lexi would like to be a lady bug and Logan hasno idea we are even going...not tlling him until we are heading for the airport. James and Lexi know because of school issues. (It is so much easier to get Logan's work on the sly!!) Our trip is fairly basic also. We are doing the party and the haunted carriage ride. Those are the only extras. We are even paying oop for dining instead of the plan. I was lucky and got a pin, so the room was cheaper though. It is, however, a long trip...we will be there 11 days, so I can't complain!

I think we would all come up with ideas different enough to be great! There are not a ton of options here, so it should be a fairly small swap. I can't wait...I have pictures for Halloween (soon to be adding more), Christmas and soon F & W!! I'd love to have pictures for Flower and Garden photos! Hmmmm....if there is a bounceback in our room, maybe Justin and I could go over our anniversary for a long weekend with no kids??!! Sorry...talking too much this morning!

I'm thinking princess themed...my friend and her girls are thinking of that so we might as well join the princess party! her DH and 2 DS haven't decided as of yet!! but she thinks it would be fun if they were princes!




I am up for MNSSHP and flower & garden....don't think we will be doing to much at the food & wine while on our trip due to the kiddo's! good either way with small mini-kit groups and the individual pieces too!

Since there doesnt seem to be a Color swap this year and DL got pushed back a bit I may be able to join this one.
Please explain to me how single elements work. Would I just decide what I was making and make just that item for everyone in the group? I havnt done a single element swap before.
