If you were wondering what Hong Kong Disneyland Resort is like, or if you think you will never ever get to Hong Kong, then this photo tour will give you a fair idea of what Hong Kong Disneyland looks like. I hope you enjoy the detail and themeing that this resort has to offer. I’m trying to use best photos I have for this tour, taken 7th May 2009 and 17th & 18th May 2011.

Hong Kong Disneyland is known to be “small” having only four lands, Main Street USA, Tomorrowland, Adventureland and Fantasyland and even those lands do not have all the attractions that are expected in the USA parks. The great news is that there are three NEW lands being constructed and will be completed by 2014!! Toy Story Land to be completed in 2012, Mystic Point and Grizzly Gulch, (photo’s and much more on that later). The Resort has two hotels, the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and the Disney’s Hollywood hotel. There is a Waterfront Promenade, a Park Promenade and Inspiration Lake. Photo’s of them all later.

Can you do Hong Kong Disneyland all in one day? I’d say No, but you should be able to do it all in two days comfortably.

So sit back and enjoy a photo tour of Hong Kong Disneyland.

The tour begins with the entry area. If you arrive by Taxi, Train, Car or Bus you’ll come through this area to get to Hong Kong Disneyland Park.

Mickey surfing on the whales spout, he moves up and down. Lots to see here with Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Pluto and Goofy fountains. This area is very pretty at night… more photos later.

Inside the ART of ANIMATION is the Toy Story Zoetrope which spins at high speed and with a strobe light has an amazing effect. This photo doesn't do it justice.

But the main showpiece is the ‘blue sky’ future expansion plans for the park, displayed in a 1 :100 model and artist drawings of the new rides and attractions. The three new lands which are under construction now, are shown in some detail and I’ll come back to the future display and show the details after we finish with what is in the park now. It is well worth the wait.

OK, now this is the photo I decided was worth taking to remind everyone to “Wear Sensible Shoes”... although what most impressed me was the way this young woman appeared to float along the footpaths. Wearing comfortable clothes can be Beautiful.

About here some people on the train stood up to see the animals. The Announcement to remained seated at all times was played, in three languages, and since the people didn't sit down, the train stopped and waited about a minute and played the announcement again in three languages. After another 20 seconds the train was on its way again. It was a nice passive way of enforcing the safety rules on the passengers.

Please note the "Magic Access Members Service Center (#5 on the Guide Map) Magic Access is where you can pay an additional amount to upgrade your ticket, so that you get some additional fastpasses and discounts in restaurants etc. My experiance is that the crowds were so low that the fastpasses I collected I didn't use, but I did go on a weekday.

What makes this look strange to me are the pavers on the road. There are no tracks for Horse-drawn Streetcars that add so much to the atmosphere of Disneyland. The pavers do give a very clean look.

This is what it looks like coming into Tomorrowland. You see the Tomorrowland planet sign on the right where everyone likes to pose and futher along you see The spaceman cut outs for more photo's and the Starline Diner is straight ahead. Orbitron can be seen on the left. By the way that garbage can in the middle of the path is "PUSH" the talking Garbage can.

Stitch Encounters is a 15 minute show that is performed in 3 different languages (Cantonese / Putonghua / English). You have to go to the attraction entrance to find out when the English show is on. So the show is on between 2:30 and 3:30 today. Showing up at 2:30 there was a very long line...with more than a half hour wait. Perhaps just show up for the last show of the hour? But then you might miss it as each show holds about 100 people. I missed it, but understand the show is like the ones in the USA.

I'm glad you like the pictures. The Park seems well designed for wheelchair access with only a few attractions that are out of bounds (Tarzans Treehouse springs to mind). On the whole most access is on the level or with a gentle ramp or the occacional elevator.

Thanks. yes HKDL is on a smaller scale but it is definitely feels like Disneyland and a whole lot less crowded which is a big advantage. I think it would be an idea park to bring very young children as the lines are mostly short and you won't be run ragged trying to do it all. Seeing the mountains in the backround does shout out "This is Hong Kong"

G'day Jen, I live in Brizzy :)

So, your on your way to WDW Florida. You WILL have fun. I hope you have booked enough time. The first time we went there we spent only one week which wasn't enough time to see it all. Our second trip there we spent 4 weeks on site in the Pop Century Hotel and was able to do all the parks, waterparks and mini golf courses and visit almost all the other resort hotels and facilities and features that each one has. WDW is huge.

My wife loves Disneyland Hong Kong (I think she liked the shopping in Hong Kong and the current exchange rate of our dollar).

If you really want to see a "The Hidden Jewel of all Disney Parks" that will absolutly impress you even after seeing the USA Disney parks...save up and go to Tokyo Disney Sea. Absolutely Amazing!!!

Next up is "The Flights of Fantasy Parade". This parade is performed twice on Friday, Saturday and Sundays but only once Monday thru Thursday. The time guide should be checked, but on our visit the parade started at 3:30pm.

I took a LOT of photos, some blurry, and I'd like to post them all to help give you the feeling of actually being there. You'll see the floats as they move past quickly only get a few photo's and when the parade stops there are heaps of photos. Lots of hands, heads, cameras get in the way, looking back and forth, just like when you are there. The photos were taken on the parade route about where P is maked on the guide map (Behind Comet Cafe)

NEXT UP: ADVENTURELAND

Stitch float was definitely my favorite, and the most innovative. The parade didn't seem to have much of a theme tying it together but it looked pretty fun.

I meant to say this earlier, but it's interesting that a lot of the signage lists English first before Chinese. Obviously they have English guide maps, but I didn't expect to see so much English in a park in Hong Kong.

The parade is fun, lots of lively music and dancing and plenty of Disney Characters.

Besides the signage being in English, the Cast Members were able to speak basic English pretty well.

The doors to the "Festival of the Lion King". The show is mainly in English with two characters that speak Chinese to help those following the story line.
It is not exactly the same as the one in Animal Kingdom in Florida.
The stage rotates and the lighting is hard on my camera, well, thats my excuse for some blurry photo's. Lots of Music, dance, entertainment and story.

Here we are leaving the Festival of the Lion King and we see a path that leads under the Railway. It is closed off now but by 2014 it will be the way to get to a new land called Grizzly Gulch. We will have a look at what is in the plan for Grizzly Gulch later.

We are now going to explore Tarzan's Treehouse (#9 on the guide map). There is only one way to get to Tarzans Treehouse and that is by "Rafts to Tarzan's Treehouse" (#8 on the guide map). The raft takes us across the Jungle River Cruise...Rivers of Adventure. There is plenty to see here.
