http://www.magictrips.com/forums/images/smilies/mickey.gif Last year we got a lot of info. out of a similar thread. We discussed what sort of 'pack' we all took to the parks each day and what all we packed it with. http://www.magictrips.com/forums/images/smilies/mickey.gif
I've pulled out the suitcases and put them on the guest bed and I'm ready to study my packing list. :teeth:
http://www.magictrips.com/forums/images/smilies/mickey.gif So, what does your BIG packing list look like and what do you take to the parks each day? http://www.magictrips.com/forums/images/smilies/mickey.gif
I'll come back on and list my sh, er, um, I mean I'll list my stuff a little later. :) Need to do a couple chores first.

My foot care kit. I forgot to take it with me on my cruise and I was very sorry. I will have a small ziplok bag with some mole skin, blister gels and a couple of bandaids along with me in my waist pack. I suppose I will have to precut the moleskin or carry my tiny little scissors in my pocket so they don't stop me at the security station before entering the parks  They don't check your pockets though.
Lip balm with sunscreen :)

O.K....you're not going to believe how much junk that I carry...lol.
This week, I found this clip-on koozie, made for beer bottles, but the perfect shape for my water bottle. I think that I'll carry this. That WDW neck, water-bottle carry thing was always to small to fit over my big fat head...lol.
I do have a "Eagle Creek Sidekick" waist pack(fanny pack) that I wore last year. It was dark green and I bought it as advice from Deb Wills site.
It has one open pouch in front, just perfect for all the WDW Guidemaps. That's actually one of the reasons that I bought it...lol.
Then it has three full-width zippered compartments.
In the largest rear compartment, I line up my disposable camera, my extremely compact and collapsable umbrella(for quick rains), my brand new Verizon Free-up cell phone(it will hold 200 phone numbers and names. I bought it for emergencies, but I plan on using it at WDW), and a disposable $1.00 rain poncho for long downpours), medicine, chewing gum. Yes it all fits side by side...lol, except for the poncho, Rx, and gum.
The middle section has some mesh sections for my wallet(WDW Annual Pass, credit card, I.D., MVMCP tickets, cash). A section for a plastic pencil, note pad. A zippered section for coins, a detachable thingie for car and resort keys, clip-on sunglasses.
And front section for receipts or stuff.
I also carry a collapsable cane in case I feel like I may collapse...lol.
I try not to carry anything in my pockets.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Maybe me doth carry to much...lol.
Ray :)
Ray maybe it wouldn't be so bad
if you didn't carry a redundant back up
of everything you listed in the second post :p :p :p

Not sure of the fanny packs as they always end up in the front------making my tummy pack look way to large. Back surgery puts a damper on the back pack----Thanks for this post. I'm now so depressed---I may have to hire someone to carry my junk. ( DH uses an EVC so I usually just pack him down like a pack llama) Carrying my own stuff this will be something new---.
See you in Dec.

Depends on what I am planning to do. Most days I travel VERY light - carrying my AP, Credit Card, Drivers License, and some cash in a slim waterproof card holder on a neck lanyard. If I need something... I either purchase it or wait until I am back at the room to take care of it.
If the weather is "iffy" or if I plan to take pictures... then I will wear a fanny pack and stuff the above mentioned card holder in (don't carry a big old wallet around), plus a very small walmart disposable rain poncho ($ 0.98 at Walmart!) and my very small digital camera.
I really prefer to go without a fanny pack - because I think being hands free and unencumbered is much more like "childhood". And when I am in the parks... I love to play like a child. :teeth:

I have my room key, tickets and an ID. Sometimes a Credit card. Cash and autograph book and pen in my waist pack. I have a small camera bag that I can put on my belt. In it my digital camera, extra memory, extra batteries. I carry a park map also.

Well I bought a fanny pack today (bum bag as we say here in the UK) but I guess really it is a waist pack.
Patty I don't mind wearing mine at the front because actually it hides my slightly on the large side belly.............oh who am I kiddin' actually it fits real snug between my two bellies :) LOL I'm not proud!!!
luvdsny
10-05-2002, 08:10 PM
Okay, let's see....I don't care for bum bags :teeth: fanny packs :teeth: or waist packs :teeth: because I am proud ;) :p and I like to think that I'm HIDING my 2 bellies. ;) :) :teeth: j/k :p I just don't care for them. :)
Before last year I had never been to a Disney park without a stroller and diaper bag  so it was a real treat to travel so lightly! :bounce: I had a small backpack purse that I threw on my back and forgot about for most of the day. It allowed me to carry my lunch trays :teeth: with both hands. ;)
However...and here is my eternal problem :o ...I found that my backpack purse was a wee bit too small for all of my sh, er, um stuff. :o :( So this year, I'm looking for a bigger purse! :) I have had this 'purse problem' since I was 2 (basically since I was old enough to carry a purse! ).....I like to have everything with me! I'm a 'my stuff' kind of gal I guess. ;)
I need/want/desire/must have :teeth: my room key, cash, credit cards, cell phone and car charger (in case I end up in someone's car), wetwipes, tissue, lipstick, pictures of family, eye glasses and case, eye glass cleaner, LIME GREEN RIBBON, poncho, pen, flashlight, floss  , gum, mirror, brush, hair pony-holder, Advil and TUMS, Q-tips, lotion, camera, film, batteries, and maps. :) If I've forgotton anything, I'll be sure to add it. ;)
Now my packing list......is waaaaaay too long. :teeth: That will have to be another post. ;) :)

In my Winnie the Pooh backpack/purse, I carry tickets, a little cash, room card and credit card, ID, autograph book & pen, SUNSCREEN, lip gloss, hairbrush, ponytail holder, glasses & clip-on sunglasses:cool:, gel hand cleaner, extra napkins from the last place we ate at (instead of tissues), a couple of Shout towelettes for pre-treating stains (DH is sloppy!!) and a travel-size plastic pill bottle with Tylenol, Motrin, Aleve and my allergy pills. I skip the poncho and never wear white so it doesn't matter if I get rained on!!

10-05-2002, 09:55 PM
Oh, how I wish I could skip the poncho too. :( It takes up so much room!! I'm telling you, it's a force I can't control! ;)

OK..so after reading all these posts I'm going to have to go out and buy something to carry all my junk in!! Last time I just had my regular little purse and DH carried a Disney tote with all our junk in it. DH isn't coming on this trip so now I HAVE TO CARRY ALL THE JUNK!!!! I used to have this really nice backback that I used when ny girls were little...I'll have to see if I still have it hanging around the house somewhere.

I hate carrying anything in the parks. So I cram in my pockets cut pieces of moleskin, my pass and room key, $10 and my cell phone. I figure I am just a bus ride away, I never remember to take pictures, and I can charge shopping to my room. (you would also think my suitcase would be small, but NOOOOOOOO ;))

Jody, that is just wrong!

j/k :p More power to you! :teeth:
Nancy, this is exactly why Dayna and I keep saying we need a 'hunka wunka'......to carry all of our crap around for us. ;)
Diane, emery board. Good One! I'll have to add that. :)
Beth, as I said before I'm trying to get over the poncho. I think I'd have to have an UMBRELLA if I did that though. ;)
Hey!!! Where's the laminated itineraries??? :p LOL :p

I almost always wear shorts with cargo pockets. In one pocket, I carry my AP, driver's license (for ID if AP doesn't work), room key, $ and credit card. I band it all together with an elastic hair tie, and I'm good to go! :bounce:
i think i'll walk with Tia.....then i'll just need my room key and money:p

Hi, Tia. It sounds like you need my Eagle Creek Sidekick waistpack. I don't use this feature, but it comes with an optional shoulder strap and the waist belt zippers up into its own pocket out of the way.
Buy those disposable, small, $1.00 ponchos from Target, and the very small, compact umbrella about the size of your hand.

10-09-2002, 11:17 AM
Ray, I remember you telling us about your waistepack last year. You knew exactly what went in each of it's many compartments. :teeth: I also remember someone linking us to a site that sold those 'ergonomic' (for lack of a better term) shoulder strap purses. I'm always on the lookout for something comfy and BIG! :teeth:
Also, last year it was so so warm :sunny: that we didn't need ponchos or umbrellas at all. If it's like that this year, I won't bother to bring those. However, I'm hoping for cooler temps this year. :o ;)

I think I am the purse link person.
I carry a convertible purse/backpack from Norm Thompson. I love it. You can sling it over one sholder like a purse or make it into a backpack. The medium will hold a LOT of stuff ( decent size guidebooks, SLR camera with extra lens, wallet, assorted makeup junke etc.. I carry it LOADED when I go to Europe!) I think the web address is www.normthompson.com
Ray, why don't you just rent the ECV and we can use YOU to carry all our stuff!!!!

On this last trip to DL, I went with only a fanny pack. I like that! There was no heavy bag to carry, no shoulder aches, no big bag getting in the way or hitting other people as we walked around. I am seriously working towards this goal for this trip, too. Just a fanny pack!! :teeth:
**since I have a big enough fanny, the pack can be bigger, too.** ;) ;) :p
