I feel like I have lost my mind!!!

All summer, I have had a 'Mystery' plant in my yard. It had long, slender leaves in a clump, kind of like a lilly - but no flowers. I could not for the life of me figure out what this plant was - I did not remember ever seeing it before. So, about 2 weeks ago, it starts flowering - OK, more info to figure out what it is. Well, it sends up about 20 tall stems with allium-type plumes of white flowers. What in the world??? :confused: :confused:

I have searched and searched, trying to name this plant, and I finally found it today - Allium Tuberosum (chinese chives). But I still want to know where the heck it came from!!??!?? How bizarre! I know I did not plant it - this is not something I would buy. None of my neighbors have it, so it didn't seed itself from nearby.

Has this happened to anyone else? Having a plant that has adopted you? It's baffling my mind!:confused: :confused:

Hi. I'm new to the forum. My SIL Noodles told me about this board and even posted a question for me a week ago.

Anyway, what about your friendly neighborhood squirrel or other critter.

Very pretty...are you going to keep it? I am wondering if it came hidden in something you did buy. if not, I agree....squirrels or birds.

Amid- Yep, that's exactly what it is. :D

We've got lots of squirrels around here, we have squirrel-feeders in our yard. Maybe they decided to bring me a gift? LOL!

I wouldn't mind if a squirrel brought me something so pretty. My squirrels usually bring corn into my yard and bury it. Come spring, it starts to sprout and I feel like I'm pulling it out for weeks. Maybe I'll get lucky this year. What a beauty!

If that the picture, it resembles garlic chives. Rub the leaves if they have a garlic smell, you have yourself a great herb. This is a plant that seeds itself very easily. It can also be very invasive if you allow the seed to scatter.

Thanks for the tip Mamu! I was debating whether or not to cut off the spent blooms, but I definately will now. :D

How thoughtful of your critters to spread the joy. Mine are responsible for the sunflowers that popped up all over this year:)
I just wish they would deposit them in some sort of order
