My dd has a fever of 102.7. I gave her tylenol an hour ago when her fever was 102.5. What gives? I have had the same experiences with my ds. Tylenol does nothing for him either! Anyone else encounter this, or my kids the exception?

Sometimes tylenol doesn't seem to work with DS. Then I switch to Motrin, and it does MUCH better for him.

Tylenol never worked for me, I used Motrin from the first time my Dr perscribed it. When my oldest DD was young it wasn't over the counter yet.

If the fever is bad and you can't get it down you can alternate tylenol and motrin, but usually motrin alone will do the trick. It also lasts for up to 6 hours so is much better at night.

Yep, same with us...go for the children's Motrin or Advil. It works MUCH better than Tylenol.

And you might try putting her in a cool bath. I had one time when I was on the phone with pediatrician at 2:30 a.m. because fever spiked at 106! He told me to put him in a bath as cool as he could stand it. It brought it down quickly along with meds.

I'm really surprised Tylenol is still on the market. I guess for people who can't take asprin. I'd have to take 8 tylenol to get the effect of 1 Motrin.

I only give my kids Motrin, and it always helps to reduce the fever very quickly.

Us too....never even buy Tylenol anymore. We're a Motrin family.

Not only does Tylenol not work for my kids,(or me) it causes lower GI distress! Just what you need when you already feel crummy.

Motrin and cool baths usually do the trick.
