In an attempt to save space and time (my free time:lmao:) for our trip in June I am planning on bringing my iPad instead of a laptop. I will have the iPad camera adapter kit with me so I can backup/view my photos and videos throughout the vacation. I will also bring a portable HD with me incase I want to backup my cards on the hotels computers (69 a minute). I want to be able to make fairly quick adjustments that I can then upload or email to family.

Anyone have any experience with any iPad photo apps that they would recommend? Features I am looking for would include the ability to adjust photos, ability to read and adjust RAW (using a Canon Xti), allow cropping and resizes (while keeping the original photo untouched). Also while not necessary the ability to sort or create albums would be useful.

Again any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Take a look at PhotoSmith.

Here is a great review the WDWPhotography.com did.

I use that all the time with my PowerBook and love it. Is it available for the iPad???

I have Photogene, allows you to do a nice variety of photo editing using sliders or curves.

I don't own an ipad, but I do subscribe to Adorama TV on YouTube. They have a regular segment on iPad apps related to photography.

I believe that Photosmith is just an app for viewing (it may only be showing the embedded jpg preview, not really decoding RAW data), sorting, keywording and flagging your RAW files, not for editing them. It's more of a field tool for digital asset management, and it can sync up to Lightroom.

Photogene is very popular for actually working on RAW files. Keep in mind that the iPad isn't a full-powered notebook computer, so Photogene is probably best used to work on a handful of select images in the field.

Check out Adorama TV for more apps.
