Welcome everyone to my quickie PTR which will segue into the real thing upon return. I leave just 1 short month from today

My elementary school son tells me that all good stories explain who, what, when, where and how. So in order to do my best to make this a good story, that seems like a good place to begin…

WHO?
I suspect most of you who have wandered over here already know me but in case you are a new friend, let me take a second to introduce myself. I’m Katie…

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2010%20TR/Image0002.jpg

I am a mom, a teacher and a Disneyaholic. Those who have been around my TR’s before know that I grew up with Disney in my life. Both sets of my grandparents had winter homes in Florida and we made trips down there every couple years and these trips often included a visit to Disney. I loved it dearly as a child and wanted to go back for a long time as a young adult but didn’t have the chance to again until 2008 when my parents took the whole family to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/image031.jpg

It was a fabulous trip and renewed my love for the place! Last year I somehow managed to convince my husband to allow me to go without him and the kids. I travelled for a week with my sister-in-law and had lots of awesome Dismeets!!

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2010%20TR/137.jpg

So did I convince hubby again to let me go without him? Well, the full story will soon follow but in short…no way! So I will once again be accompanied by my 3 favorite boys in the whole world.

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/image115-1.jpg

My hubby Greg: also a teacher and a coach as well. He’s a hard working guy who sometimes forgets to stop and appreciate the little things in life. He enjoyed bits and pieces of our 2008 trip but would never call himself a fan. However, he’s actually looking forward to visiting with just the 4 of us and getting away from the real world for awhile (yes, it’s been a stressful school year)

Our 9 year old Patrick: a smart and funny kid who is a Star Wars fanatic! He’s grown up a lot since our last trip and I’m hoping he will find the courage to try some of the bigger rides this year. He’s very sweet and affectionate and I’m excited to get to spend some time with him like this while he still thinks I’m cool!

Our 6 year old Daniel. He is a bit more daring than his big brother and I think will willingly go on most rides unless they have a fright factor (like the haunted mansion). He is also very shy and doesn’t particularly like people in costumes so it will be interesting to see how he handles the characters this time (he wanted nothing to do with them 3 years ago!)

WHAT
We will be spending 15 glorious days travelling “the world”!! We have 10 day tickets with the water parks add-on which should keep us plenty busy. We also will be on the dining plan which will take us to most of the restaurants I’ve had on my “someday” list for awhile now…yummy!

WHEN
We are leaving at 6:00 am on Tuesday June 7. Those who just finished reading my 2010 TR may find this quite amusing after my horror tales of having to leave Disney last year at this same ridiculously early hour. Somehow though it seems much more reasonable when you are leaving FOR Disney.

HOW
This trip came after quite a bit of discussion and negotiation! Back in 2008, I commented to Greg that it would be fun to return in 2011 for my 40th birthday and I had this dream in my mind for the last few years. About the time I turned 39, I started to bring up the idea whenever I could work it in and even talked about it in hushed tones with the boys who of course loved the idea! Greg basically ignored me at first but after awhile started responding, but not positively like I had hoped. He basically questioned what made me think it would be OK for the kids and I to go without him. You see, Greg is a basketball coach and my birthday is the week after Thanksgiving which would have meant he couldn’t come.

After pouting about it and trying to get my way, I realized he wasn’t going to budge on the point. My tactics then changed to see when I could convince him to go. His first suggestion was spring break since his coaching season would be over. Unfortunately our spring break backs up to Easter next year and although I liked the idea of going during that time of year, the thought of those crowds just didn’t appeal to me.

I had been thinking so much about a winter visit and really wanted to share Christmas-time at Disney with my boys so I suggested our winter break. Unfortunately this also falls during basketball season and although they don’t have games, he would have had to miss a week of practice and he just didn’t feel like he could do that (plus of course, the whole crowds thing again!)

I really had my heart set on going in 2011 since it not only is my 40th birthday but also the 40th anniversary of the opening of Magic Kingdom so I started looking at the crowd calendar. I commented to Greg that crowds are still not too bad in early June. The best deal out at the time was the free kids ticket and we realized that this would be our last chance to go before Patrick becomes a Disney “adult”. So a plan was set in motion!

Being teachers, we obviously have flexibility during our summer vacation and the ability to take the time we want (wouldn’t it be great to say the same thing about our finances). Greg knows about the ticket pricing and immediately started talking about a 10 day trip. I suggested we maybe add a day or two so we could have some rest time in the middle so we started to price out plane tickets. As it turns out, the best deal we could find was for a 15 night trip.

We debated whether we could make it work and I decided to call Disney to find out if I had any PIN codes attached to my name and it turns out I did….Free Dining!! That basically sealed the deal for Greg, with that, we actually saved money by staying longer and taking the cheaper flights and so a trip was born!

So although I won’t be spending my birthday with the mouse, I am considering this my birthday trip and plan to wear the button and celebrate anyway!!

Next up…how will we tell the boys?

Spending your 40th with the mouse sounds like a good idea to me, might have to barrow that from you. But than again I am planning on taking my DD in 2013 for her birthday witch also happens to be the year of my 40th.:lmao::cool1:

We will be there not to long before you in late May/early June and will also be celebrating some birthdays that are not actually happening during our trip. My DS's b-day is 4 days before our trip and mine is in mid august. I have already added his birthday as a celebration to the room and several ADR's but I am not against wearing a B-day button as well.

Can't wait to read more.popcorn:: And am honored to be considered one of your new friends.:lmao:

Sorry to have taken so long to get back to you! I wrote this update a few days ago but just needed to add the photos. When I went to find them...they were gone :guilty: I had uploaded them to the computer when Patrick borrowed my camera for a field trip and somehow they didn't get saved...grrr! So tonight the boys cooperated with me a bit although they would not recreate the excitement of the first time.

On we go...

When we first started a serious discussion about booking a trip, Greg wanted to keep it secret from the boys. In fact, we talked about doing the surprise-them-at-the-airport thing which did sound like fun. However, I love the whole planning thing and I knew the boys would too. Also, in order to go for so long in June, the boys will have to give up some of their summer activities (in particular, Patrick has to give up the June session of Kids in College which he absolutely loves) and I wanted them to understand why.

We discussed various ways to tell them and finally settled on a puzzle surprise. I purchased a 100 piece puzzle and after putting it together, I wrote a message on the back. We then placed all the pieces in a jar and told the boys they would earn a couple pieces each day by doing their jobs without complaint and having good behavior. It took about 1 month but last weekend they finally earned the last pieces and started putting it together

They had figured out that it was a Star Wars puzzle and had lots of fun trying to read letters on the pieces and guessing what the surprise might be. I had hinted the puzzle picture might be a clue but this was more to throw them off since they didn’t know anything about Star Wars Weekend before.

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00283.jpg

Then we flipped the puzzle over

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00284.jpg

:dancer: I don’t know who was more excited, me or the boys. I was really glad to not have to keep this secret any longer! Our first task following the reveal was to make our vacation countdown. I found these really cute countdown chain links and we put together the chain starting at 5 weeks.

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00285.jpg

They get very excited each morning to remove the links!

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00286.jpg

Next, let’s talk Disney food…if that won’t keep you coming back, I don’t know what will

Hi Jennifer! Glad you have you along!!

********************************

So somehow I managed to overlook the WHERE in my first post! (and it only took comments from 3 of you for me to catch on that you weren't poor readers...it's actually not there :sad2:)

Sorry about that!

We talked about various options like POFQ, CB (thinking the boys would love a pirate room!) and possibly a split stay to rent points for BCV (oh how lovely SAB sounds in June!)

In the end, Free Dining was the deciding factor! The summer dining offer was for the QS plan at both value and moderate resorts so really we didn't see any advantage to paying for a moderate. We also weren't going to give up free dining in order to move for a split stay (and once our trip turned into 15 nights, we added the WPF&M so SAB can wait for another trip)

Our choice was for the value resort we have heard the best things about and one the boys have seen pictures of and fell in love with...

http://pic40.picturetrail.com/VOL372/8714976/16136090/246743617.jpg

POP Century!! When the boys read the message on the puzzle, Patrick's first question was "we're going THIS summer?" and second was "are we staying at POP Century?" We are hoping for a room in the 50's section but I would be happy in the 60's too. I want a lakeview room and Greg and the kids hope for a poolview...we'll see who wins

AHH Pop Century! :yay: Like MeMom and Jill, that is our Disney "home." As MeMom said, it's definitely not a DVC, moderate, or deluxe resort, but it's a really cute, fun atmosphere. They also play all sorts of fun music on the grounds, and on the bus, and they do the Hustle in the food court every evening at around the same time, I think. I'm so excited for you!

You MUST have a lake view! It is essential. It's like a quiet little oasis back there. I love the 50's, although I had a very nice room in the 70's overlooking the lake and that was quite nice too.

YEah for free dining and POP century!

Honestly, my requirements for a hotel are pretty minimal...clean and well maintained which I think I can count on at any Disney hotel. I do love the idea that the rooms are all recently refurbed. We just figured our time would be mostly spent away from the resort so why pay more than we need to :confused3 I talked with my brother this weekend (who has stayed at POP twice) and he was excited to hear that's where we are staying

Only 3 weeks to go til your trip!! :yay: I'm so excited about the "two weeks" aspect that I didn't even notice you hadn't told us where you were staying! :rotfl:

3 weeks from this moment we will be somewhere over eastern Iowa on our way :cool1: Funny how when I tell Disers I am going for 2 weeks, they think it's awesome, when I tell non-Disers, they think I'm nuts :sad2: I told someone the other day and they said "so you are doing Orlando for 2 weeks right?" "Nope, just Disney"

I adore POP Century!!! I am really really looking forward to the Animator's Studios when it opens up!! You guys will have a great time there!!! The food court is a lot of fun and has a lot of options!!!! I love the pools and decor!!!

YAY

My brother is planning their next vacation (this weekend was the 600 day mark :rotfl:) and we were comparing POP with the new resort to figure out which would be better for their family now that they are a family of 5.

I can't wait to get there and get me a drink and sit by the hippy dippy pool. I will know we have arrrived then!

I don't know how to do the hustle, I might have to learn! (Greg knew once upon a time but he doesn't dance now :rolleyes1) I have no doubt the kids will just love POP! Even if POP isn't my first choice, that goes a long way!

You MUST have a lake view! It is essential. It's like a quiet little oasis back there. I love the 50's, although I had a very nice room in the 70's overlooking the lake and that was quite nice too.

YEah for free dining and POP century!

I really do hope for a lakeview room. I think that would be the one thing that will help my enjoyment. The values haven't always appealed to me because of their theming (I prefer to come back from the parks to a calm, relaxed environment so I have really enjoyed my stays at OKW and CSR)

The 50's is the boys choice, they love the bowling pin pool! I also put the 60's on my request but they think it's a bit too "girly" :lmao:

I actually think that the CM's hold a sign with pictures detailing the steps! My dad wanted me to get up there and do it with them and every time I said I didn't know how, he pointed out that they had the sign

We haven't stayed in the 50's, but we have stayed in the 80's, and the 70's twice. I love seeing all the different years and their different themes!

So discovering I had a code for free dining over the summer was a HUGE push in making this trip happen and allowing us to stay just a bit longer than we originally had planned.

(note to self, always call Disney and ask about a PIN code! I had heard of others getting the code and the CM told me if I had one, I would have received a card or e-mail but I pushed the issue and sure enough, it was in their computer )

I probably would have been OK with taking the quick service plan but Greg felt strongly that he wanted a sit-down meal each day to give us a bit more variety (with the long trip, I’m glad for that too!) and felt it would be a good way to get out of the heat a bit each day. Since I had quite a list of restaurants I wanted to try, I took on the ADR challenge happily!

So what did I manage to get booking at about 90 days instead of 180…

Whispering Canyon Café – This was on my must-do list, we ended up cancelling an ADR for this in 2008 so now it’s on my first night! I’m very excited, canyon skillet here I come

The Plaza – I’ve heard good things about it but never thought I would go since I thought of it as “just sandwiches and ice cream” but it will be a nice in-park lunch!

Yak and Yeti – This one might be a toss up. I think Greg and I will like it OK, not sure about the boys. I’m very excited for those wontons!

Cape May – I ate here last year for breakfast but have always thought the dinner looks yummy so this will be good for a DHS day

Ohana – it took awhile for me to snag this one but it was also on my must-do list. I was so bummed to not make it here last year so this is my do-over

Crystal Palace – I didn’t originally plan a meal here but a couple character breakfasts was a request from the boys. I got a late breakfast ADR so we’ll have a little time for touring before our date with Pooh and the gang

Biergarten – I loved this one last year and I think Greg will like the atmosphere and the boys will think the band is cool. Lots of yummy food here too!

HoopDeeDoo – this was the only 2 credit meal I could convince Greg of (I would have liked more, he would have preferred none) I have heard great things and I think the boys will have a blast!

Sci-Fi – again, a good way to take a lunch break in the park on a day we will only stay through the afternoon. Hoping for a good experience, I’ve heard both good and bad.

The Wave – I’m not convinced we will keep this one just because of how it falls with our park plans but it does sound yummy

1900 Park Fare – this is a bit of a surprise choice from the boys. I have not been able to get a breakfast ADR at Chef Mickeys so this is a substitute. I’ve heard good things and thought the boys would never want to go so I’m happy!

Tutto Italia – wasn’t at the top of my list for WS meals but I figured this would have the most that the boys would eat

Mama Melroses – I didn’t love this one in 2008 but we wanted a Fantasmic package and weren’t willing to do 2 credits for Brown Derby and H&V doesn’t appeal to me.

Kona Café – we did this one in 2008 and liked it. My original plan was to have this ADR but see about getting a walk-up for Ohana instead. Since I managed to get the Ohana ADR, we may or may not keep this one.

If you add them up, there are 15 dining credits listed above. The last 2 trips, I have ended up not making an ADR so I overbooked by one.

There are still a few restaurants on my “someday” list but this sure will shorten that list!!

Next update…QS thoughts

Older DS LOVES ribs so he will go nuts over the skillet I'm sure! Younger DS is on a no meat kick lately but hopefully will eat the chicken and he will like the corn and bread. Nobody will leave hungry I'm sure!

The first review of the Plaza I read basically said it's good but too pricy for just sandwiches. I've heard such good reviews of the food though and am now really excited to try it!

*********************

I did make 1 little tweak to my ADR list last night. I've been worried that we wouldn't make our ressie for The Wave simply because it falls on a day we are planning to do AK but only for 1/2 day. I have a feeling we will either stay at the resort for the night or head to DTD and miss this dinner.

I decided since we have been to Kona Cafe already and have another meal already planned at the Poly, that I could give up that ADR. So now our final evening in the world will include dinner at the CR before the parade and fireworks at MK. Sounds like :cloud9: to me!!

This brings us down to only enough ADR's for what we will have credited but I figure if we skip one somewhere along the way, I can sneak a last minute one in DTD (Cap'n Jacks maybe) without an ADR

That list of ADRs sounds pretty awesome! I've been to many of them but there are ones on your list I've been curious about for awhile (Beirgarten, Cape May, etc.) I think your family will love WCC! It's a hoot! I still dream about the cornbread! And Tutto Italia....If I hadn't been in public I honestly would have licked my plate clean!:rolleyes1 I don't think you'll have a bad meal! The Plaza is wonderful too! Smaller and more homey-feeling to me and the food and service are amazing. Simple but delicious! Who am I kidding? They're all good!:goodvibes If I were there for 15 meals you would have to roll me home! I wouldn't fit on the plane!

Although I have to admit....I would skip Kona too....I didn't have a good meal there....infact, I never got my meal there! But I'm sure mine was a one-off since so many people seem to love it. No matter where you guys eat you"ll have a blast!

The Plaza – I’ve heard good things about it but never thought I would go since I thought of it as “just sandwiches and ice cream” but it will be a nice in-park lunch! A must do for us every trip

Yak and Yeti – This one might be a toss up. I think Greg and I will like it OK, not sure about the boys. I’m very excited for those wontons! We went here in 2008 and loved it and are going back in September and can't wait (I had the sweet/sour pork which was delicious)

Cape May – I ate here last year for breakfast but have always thought the dinner looks yummy so this will be good for a DHS day Haven't been for dinner since 2007, but we always enjoy; now that they have crab legs back, we want to go again

Ohana – it took awhile for me to snag this one but it was also on my must-do list. I was so bummed to not make it here last year so this is my do-over

Crystal Palace – I didn’t originally plan a meal here but a couple character breakfasts was a request from the boys. I got a late breakfast ADR so we’ll have a little time for touring before our date with Pooh and the gang Another must-do every trip for us...gotta love the puffed french toast

Biergarten – I loved this one last year and I think Greg will like the atmosphere and the boys will think the band is cool. Lots of yummy food here too! After several really good meals here, we went in September last year and were very disappointed

Kona Café – we did this one in 2008 and liked it. My original plan was to have this ADR but see about getting a walk-up for Ohana instead. Since I managed to get the Ohana ADR, we may or may not keep this one. Have never done; we had a breakfast ADR last year, but two little girls pooped us out the night before at EMH's at the MK and we cancelled; we are DEFINITELY going this year for breakfast

Catching up.......

What a fun reveal! I bet the boys were pumped!

Looking forward to hearing what you think of Pop, not sure if I'll ever be convinced to stay value, but I've learned to never say never :thumbsup2

Looks like a great list of ADRs, aside from The Wave that is, uggggg, we had a bad experience there, don't think we'll ever go back. I would take Kona over it 100 times out of 100! I know most people love The Wave though, so I'm sure we had an isolated experience.

I don't think you'll be disappointed in Tutto Italia, I've been there 3 times now and loved every time.

Those wontons at Yak & Yeti are worth the ADR all by themselves - so yummy! Jared is a pretty picky eater and he found something to eat there so I bet your boys will be fine :thumbsup2

I kicked around the idea of booking an ADR for Cape May for before the cruise but decided against it. Now that I'm reading about you eating there I'm reconsidering......wonder if I could get an ADR just a week out......

I was glad to see you post yesterday, I was a bit worried when I saw the news about the tornadoes (not knowing where you live, I do realize it is a good size state!)

The boys are VERY pumped and the closer it gets, the more excited we all get (even my own grump seems to be excited to get away from our real life!)

I was never all that crazy about the values (because of the theming, I prefer something more relaxing) but the boys are super excited and most people I've heard really like POP so I'm going in with a good attitude!

I don't think the kids will go hungry anywhere really. I'm sure most places have back-up options for picky eaters, not like mine are the only ones!

I would think you could still snag an ADR. If not, I would just show up at 5:00 and ask for a table, I bet they could find a spare table!

Katie you inspired me! I switched my Le Cellier lunch ADR for dinner at Cape May Cafe! I know Le Cellier is supposed to be a big deal and all but I can go to a Canadian steakhouse any day, and I think for us Cape May would be a better fit! :) Thanks for the influence!

Just realized I didn't quote your first post...Daniel and I both love cornbread so I'm sure we will go through plenty of it. Last night Greg asked where we would be in 2 weeks from that moment, I told him we would be stuffing our faces with dessert at WCC (smores cheesecake, here I come!)

My Cafe may ADR is giving me fits right now. It's planned for the day we are doing SWW and I'm worried about getting back to DHS in time for the evening events. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get anything in the park we want for that day. I guess we'll play it by ear when the time comes and if we need to move it to a different day, there is room in the schedule. I don't want to miss that one!

We loved Le Cellier but we can get lots of good steak in Iowa too, we don't get crab legs as often!

Planning a mini update for tonight and hopefully will include our park plans since I need to get rolling if I'm going to get it all done...13 days to go!!

Whispering Canyon Café – One of Trent's favorites.

The Plaza – Haven't been, but want to.

Yak and Yeti – Haven't been, but got quick service once. Egg roll was good, rice - not so much.

Cape May – Possibly the best breakfast we have ever had on Disney property. Definitely up for dinner there sometime. Trent has had it - ate there with Anita and Marc once.

Ohana – We have had breakfast only and will be having our first dinner here on July 4th.

Crystal Palace – We liked it, but I prefer dinner here.

Biergarten – Two times here. Like it, but don't love it.

HoopDeeDoo – Would like to do this, but the money holds me back. If we could do it during a free dining time, we'd absolutely be up for it.

Sci-Fi – Twice for us. It is a good way to get out of the heat midday. Food was good, but I don't recall it being outstanding. The kids will like the atmosphere.

The Wave – Haven't gotten to it yet.

1900 Park Fare – Good breakfast, but we want to try dinner.

Tutto Italia – Haven't gotten to it yet.

Mama Melroses – Liked this for lunch on the spring break trip.

Kona Café – Very fond of Kona for both breakfast and dinner.

You have a lot of good eating to look forward to. It's always nice to have some new ones sprinkled in with some old favorites. :)

More changes possibly in the works :rolleyes1 Someone on the June visitors thread mentioned the other day they were cancelling a Chef Mickey's ADR. It it on a day that would work out with our touring plan and the boys really want to eat there! We are working on a way to "transfer" the ressie.

If it works out, we will likely end up cancelling the 1900 Park Fare ADR which I'm a little bummed about but I want to do CM while the boys still want to, I would be OK with doing 1900 PF on a non-kids trip.

It also means shuffling around our other ADR's...Greg requested a meal at each of the monorail resorts so we will most likely look at cancelling the Wave and adding GFC somewhere.

With only 12 days to go, I guess I'm going to have to call the plan good enough soon!! :rotfl:

Of course the ADR’s get most of the attention when planning a vacation but let’s not forget when doing the dining plan that we also get QS meals and snacks! So here’s what I’m thinking so far…

POP food court – we will for sure eat here a couple times. We are arriving at 11:30 and will be hungry by the time we get there so we will for sure eat lunch at POP that day. I also figure there will be another day or 2 when we finish in the afternoon and just hang at POP for the evening. Any recommendations from those of you who have been there? I’m thinking the parmesan chicken and Rueben flatbread are a good start!

MK – Not sure how many QS we will have here. I definitely want to do either Cosmic Ray’s or Pecos Bills (is it just me or are these menus basically interchangeable?) I have been to both – who can resist free cheese sauce on your fries? – but I would like to try at least 1 new place, probably Columbia Harbor House.

Epcot – I have yet to eat a lunch/dinner at Sunshine Seasons and that’s on my list for sure! I also want to do 1 from one of the WS countries…I’m leaning toward Norway but we’ll see where we end up

DHS – Definitely Starring Rolls (Anyone know if you can you get the sushi on the dining plan?) and either Backlot Express or Studio Catering Co

AK – I’m thinking Pizzafari so I can finally try that sandwich everyone raves about and probably Restaurantosaurus since the kids would get a kick out of lunch in a bucket!

DTD – I hope to get here at least twice so I can do both Wolfgang Puck Express and Earl of Sandwich

Waterparks – this is one of my fears…that we will end up here more than 1 or 2 times. The menus are basically burgers and nuggets and I want more variety please!!

Let’s share…what are your favorite snacks around the world?

I like a lot of stuff from the Pop food court. The individual pizzas are pretty good. They also have some really good salads! Oh my, I can't wait to go back now

Sunshine Seasons is on my list, too! I've never eaten there but I have heard nothing bad about it.

We ate at CHH when we did the KTTK tour. The tuna sandwich was really, really good! I can't remember exactly what everyone else got, but they enjoyed their meals, too :) I'm so excited for you!

I hope you're able to get the Chef Mickey reservation! So many yummy meals you have planned.

Let's see...favorite snacks. I love the Mickey waffle with powdered sugar in the MK. Can't beat the guacamole in La Cava. Popcorn and Mickey bars are pretty good too! :thumbsup2

- I've never eaten here but the parmesan chicken always looks good and I desperately want to try the tie dyed cheesecake!

- Cosmic Rays is wonderful! I love Sonny Eclipse and I bet your boys would too! Columbia Harbour House is good (try sitting upstairs!) and so is Pecos Bill's. My favourite spot for breakfast and/or snacks is definitely the Main Street Bakery! Try the breakfast croissant sandwich and the cookies and cinnamon rolls and....everything! I also love the corn dog nuggets from Casey's

Epcot – I have yet to eat a lunch/dinner at Sunshine Seasons and that’s on my list for sure! I also want to do 1 from one of the WS countries…I’m leaning toward Norway but we’ll see where we end up [/COLOR] -
Sunshine Seasons is one of my favourites! They have cornbread and rice krispie squares! Really, you can't go wrong!

DHS – Definitely Starring Rolls (Anyone know if you can you get the sushi on the dining plan?) and either Backlot Express or Studio Catering Co
- I need to try Starring Rolls on my next trip too, everytime I've been the line has been out the door! I also really like Pizza Planet for CS. It always seems that I get a Mickey Bar as my snack at DHS!

AK – I’m thinking Pizzafari so I can finally try that sandwich everyone raves about and probably Restaurantosaurus since the kids would get a kick out of lunch in a bucket!
- Pizzafari is good and I will sometimes get corn dog nuggets for a quick lunch at the cart across from Yak & Yeti.

DTD – I hope to get here at least twice so I can do both Wolfgang Puck Express and Earl of Sandwich - I love WPE (the mac and cheese is very good!) and I've only had breakfast at EOS but it was delicious too! Goofy's Candy Company is always good for getting sweet snacks and also Ghiradelli for a sundae! Yummy!

One you didn't mention was Beaches and Cream to go - I always go there for an ice cream soda!

do you know I have never had any of the snacks you listed  Popcorn and Mickey bars are definitely on my list for this trip! I didn't know they served waffles in MK :confused3

hmmm, another one I haven't done. I'm not sure why though because I went to the dessert party last year and they had a huge tray of them to choose from!

I keep trying and trying to get into Kona's for an early dinner but apparently its not in the cards...I may have to try to walk up and see what happens!!!

Still got my fingers crossed for CM, the sticky point is that they have an ADR for 6 and another Diser also wants the ADR but she is going solo. I'm not sure if the person with the ADR releases it, that either of us will be able to snag it since the orginal is for 6 and Greg isn't interested in dining with a stranger!

Tye-dye cheesecake is something I will definitely not be trying! I cannot eat anything that falsely colored, not sure why (can't even handle the thought of kool-aid, gatorade, popsicles, etc)

I figure there will be stops at the bakery for snacks along the way!

I love cornbread too! Part of the reason I am excited for WCC and HDD!!

Don't tell Brook but I haven't had corn dog nuggets anywhere in WDW. For some reason, they don't feel "special" to me :confused3

Goofy's will be another definite spot as a way to kill some snack credits :thumbsup2

We don't know for sure where we will go for the water sprite rental but I will lean toward BC/YC since we will just rent 1 and Greg will take turns going out with the boys. I figure Beaches and Cream will be a good way to kill some time :rolleyes1 I'm dying to try the no way Jose!!

The time is winding down!! Tomorrow we will be single digit dancing and have SO much left to do!

After enjoying our 3 day weekend, we have 4 school days remaining, none of which will be “normal” days. Tuesday I will only work ½ day because Patrick has his 4th grade graduation (they move to the intermediate school in 5th grade so he is almost out of elementary). Wednesday is always a shorter day. Thursday and Friday are semester test days, which is somewhat optional for my students. Next Monday, Greg and I have 1 final work day.

Since I don’t teach a regular class (I supervise kids working through online classes to earn credit for previously failed classes), the last week isn’t quite as crazy for me as it is for most teachers. I’ve already prepared to turn in grades because I don’t do them electronically – still haven’t figured out why that is! I also need to make sure files are in order for the kids attending summer school while we are gone but that won’t be too bad. I also have to do some extra room prep before I leave since they will be adding a second story onto the wing where my room is so I need to make sure everything is secure.

So what do we have left to prepare for the trip? The lists aren’t look too long but some of these tasks will take awhile…

This weekend:
Double check the packing list and make final shopping list
Make autograph cards for the boys
Start making t-shirts
Make invitations to Patrick’s birthday party that will be the weekend after we return
Get boys signed up for summer park and rec activities in July

Next weekend:
Clean the house and yard
make final preparations for being gone (stop mail, talk to neighbors, haircuts, etc)
Final shopping trip
Pack our luggage

So let’s talk plans…

I’m trying to not super plan this trip. I have our park days decided since we won’t have hoppers. For the most part, we are avoiding EMH’s in an attempt to go to the less crowded parks. We have 10 day tickets and immediately knew we would spend 3 days at MK and 2 days at each of the other parks. My original thought was for the other day to be spent at Epcot. THEN we decided to add Star Wars Weekend in the mix so DHS will be the other 3 day park.

Since we are staying 15 nights, we will mostly only do 2 park days in a row before taking a “day-off”. On those days we will likely find ourselves at the waterparks and DTD/Disney Quest. I also have a short list of “other” activities I wouldn’t mind doing:
Minigolf
Wander the boardwalk
Rent a water sprite for an hour (for the boys, I’m not really interested)
Campfire sing-along and movie at Ft. Wilderness
See YeeHaw Bob at Port Orleans
Characters in Flight (if I feel like the $$ is worth the experience)

If we don’t get to any of these, I won’t be heartbroken but hope to at least do 2 or 3 of them

YAY for single digit dancing and almost being done! :yay: My sister's last day of school AND finals was yesterday, only because she's a senior. My mom works in a daycare at the same school, but she and the rest of the school don't get out till near the end of June. :scared1:

I'm pretty sure the tuna sandwich from CHH doesn't have onions, but someone else could probably clarify. I don't think it does because my mom and/or my sister got it, and neither of them like onions but were okay with the sandwich. :)

Two park days and then an "off" day is awesome! I would love to wander the boardwalk, or go mini-golfing. We have some pretty good mini golf courses here, but Disney mini golf is so much more appealing!

Hi! Signing on for your TR! Erin from Michigan! I just booked Disney Cruise on the Fantasy in 2012 for my 40th. I was really torn between a 'World' trip and the cruise (thinking the cruise will be a 1x only type of trip, we will be back to the 'World' for sure). So, I went for it - pricey!!! - but I figure turning 40 is worth it! So I turn 39 in June and the cruise is Nov. of 2012 when the kids get a break from school, anyway, enough about me....

I am so excited for you, this comes at just the perfect time, I'm missing Disney! We sound a lot alike in our planning approach, I get it! The lists, the plans, staying organized, I love it! I have to admit I did overplan the last trip (oct. 2010, Poly) and I will not do that again. We had a good time, but I was a little stressed and had a hard time relaxing. Doing a mother - son trip with my DS 12 in August at CS for a week - can't wait.

A couple of thoughts on your dining. I think you should prioritize at least one of the ADR's (like 1900 park fair) that you really wanted - it's your birthday! Your ADR's look great! Nothing bad to say. We like Sci-Fi alot, of course Ohana, etc. With regards to counter service, I know this isn't the norm, but we had an 'ok' dinner at Sunshine Seasons, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. We always eat at Pizzafari - love it, always good. Cosmic Rays also pleases everyone and is always yummy. We always have a Dole Whip as a snack. Columbia Harbor House also has really good chicken in addition to the fish and chips.

Anyway, good luck getting through your week and the end of school, we get out June 3! Looking forward to your report, I hope you have an amazing, magical, vacation!!! God Bless!:goodvibes

:welcome: Erin!! Where in Michigan do you live? My Dad is from the Saginaw area and my Mom is from Muskegon (still have quite a few relatives in that area) They met at MSU and we have quite a few Spartan grads in our family!

A cruise for your 40th sounds awesome! My hubby doesn't see the appeal of a cruise so we'll see if we ever do one

I must confess that part of the reason I made that list in my latest update is because I needed to put it in writing or I'm likely to forget some things :rotfl: I am trying to now overplan because I did that for our last trip and ended up feeling some disappointment that the plan didn't hold up so this time will be a bit more flexible.

I have definitely included my most important ADR's into this trip! Part of the reason both WCC and Ohana are early in the trip is so we are less likely to skip because we are too tired! I MAY have planned a little something extra for myself at one of them too :rolleyes1

Your plans sound great! I think the boys will love SWW, good choice making DHS a 3 day park.

Have you guys done SWW before? why am I thinking Ben is a big fan? Yesterday at lunch I asked each boy what they were looking forward to most in each park and SWW topped both lists for DHS (and silly me at first thought we should avoid it :sad2:) I'll be sad to only have 2 days at Epcot but it will be worth it for this trip!

Kate, plans are looking great! We love mini-golf at Disney. :)

Which mini-golf do you typically choose? I don't really know much about each course, I may have some more research to do!

Anyone up for some single digit dancing?

:cool1:

Yesterday brought a change to our ADR's (no, I didn't snag CM yet, not feeling overly confident about that one right now!) We went out for lunch at our local chinese buffet and Daniel was attempting to use chopsticks. I was telling him that there is a place in Disney where they rig chopsticks for the kids to make them easier to use. I was then telling Patrick about it because he has seen the commercials for the teppanyaki place in Des Moines. They both said they would be willing to try it so we have cancelled Tutto Italia for Teppan Edo!! I'm excited about this change :goodvibes

The temptation to overplan is hard when we are such big fans and want the trips to be perfect! I think many of us have made that 'mini' mistake and found our overplanned trips to be a little bit of a bummer, so we live and learn!

Tutto Italia is lovely but I bet the boys will have a blast at Teppan Edo! All the reports I've read talk about how much children have loved seeing the food cooked.

Also, my mum did characters in flight on our trip last spring and she loved it! She had to do it alone because I'm terrified of heights, but she said she could have stayed up there all day!

I love cornbread too! Part of the reason I am excited for WCC and HDD!!

Don't tell Brook but I haven't had corn dog nuggets anywhere in WDW. For some reason, they don't feel "special" to me :confused3

See, neither cornbread or corn dogs are all that popular up in my neck of the woods so they do seem a little more special to me I guess. I seriously have to drive clear across town to the special "fresh" market to buy cornbread! And unless you buy pogos at the grocery store, you would never find them anywhere! It doesn't make sense to me since they are just so stinkin' delicious! It's a good thing I don't live in the USA or I would weigh 34824732347 lbs.!:rolleyes1

It has given me an appreciation for the cast members that perform in the same parade every night with a smile on their faces!

LOL! My brother who always felt the same way stopped one year with his family and said the same thing, it was a bit of a letdown after all the fun we had imagied we were missing out on.

We have a town near us with a strong dutch heritage and they have a tulip festival every year. I've always meant to go but for some reason never seem to make it. I will one of these days!

OMG Katie! I can't believe you have another trip on the horizon, and a 15 day one at that!:worship: How great you will be able to spend it with your boys.

I haven't read thru your whole PTR yet, but I will catch up soon! Have fun counting down these last few days...how exciting!!!:banana::banana:

Hey Trish, glad you found me!! Yep, 15 days is gonna be awesome (and hot and muggy and crowded I'm sure!)

****************

I just need to point out that today my ticker no longer reads in months or even weeks...we are down to DAYS baby!!!! :cool1: :woohoo: :yay:

I have SO much left to do!!! :sad2: But really, I don't care because I have 2 1/2 days of school to get through and in 6 days from this very moment, I should be checking into POP!

Don't tell me you don't have cornbread mixes in the grocery store? :confused3 Krusteaz is my favorite!! I'll send you some if you need a fix :thumbsup2

:hug:Oh Katie you're a real pal! Thanks for the offer! I do usually pick up a mix when I head across the border (I keep American food stockpiles! Cherry coke, cornbread, toaster streudles, yoplait whipped yogurt and red velvet cake mix - plus a stop at Olive Garden! ;)) but we all know I don't have amazing cooking skills and I swear it has never come out right! Never! I don't know how I screw it up but it's always dry and crumbly....gross! I guess it's good that I can't have it all the time or it wouldn't feel like a treat anymore! You know you can add stuff to it, like a can of creamed corn, a can of Mexican corn, or some cheese and/or taco meat, maybe sausage.... and make it have different flavors and textures. Check out allrecipes.com for a million recipes along with reviews. You can do a lot with a package of cornbread mix.

Cherry Coke - I rarely drink sodas, but Cherry Coke is one of my favorite ones when I do.

Katie - get ready to count on ONE HAND how many days you have left! :dance3:
And then you have to have THREE HANDS to count how many days you're staying!

One of our family's favorite has sour cream, creamed corn, kernel corn, corn muffin mix and a little sugar. SO yummy! Super easy and a big hit at potluck dinners! The only problem is we rarely get many leftovers to bring home

One more day with kids tomorrow, a weekend to prepare and a final workday on Monday :cool1: SO excited :yay: I have managed to cross off a few things from my to-do list but still have a lot to do. I realize it's a lot but am not panicking...yet

I haven’t really done much sharing of our plans (other than the all important food issue of course!) So I thought I would jot down our must-do’s for each park….

Magic Kingdom – we have a lot of them so it’s a good thing we have 3 days scheduled!

Pretty much all of Fantasyland LOL! It’s the classics and we love them!
The 3 mountains, I’m very excited the boys think they are ready for these
Haunted Mansion, but only for Greg and I, the boys do NOT want to ride!
Pirates of the Caribbean and hopefully catch the pirate tutorial!
Buzz Lightyear
Monsters Laugh Floor
Honestly, there is very little we don’t want to do (Stitch is the only thing I refuse to do) so our days will have some strategy in terms of ride order and FP use but mostly we will focus on a couple lands each day and hit up a second time the ones that we want most

Epcot –

Soarin of course, and no visit to the land would be complete without seeing Living with the land!
The seas and Turtle Talk
Test Track
Spaceship Earth
Explore WS including several Kim Possible missions
Again, not much I wouldn’t do here but with only 2 days I’m sure we won’t get to it all

DHS –

TSMM of course!
Star Tours, I’m sure several times
Indiana Jones
Lights Motors Action
ToT and RnR for Greg and I only, another the boys have no interest in
Muppets
One Man’s Dream
Animation Academy

Animal Kingdom –
Pretty much I think we will try to hit everything here since we will spend most of 2 days. The only one we will likely skip is It’s tough to be a Bug, not sure the boys will enjoy that one!

Water Parks –
I’m still a bit fuzzy on all the different rides. None of us particularly enjoy slides that are enclosed but like just about any open slides and definitely love the lazy river!
I anticipate each of our visits will only be 2-3 hours so we will more or less wing it

DTD –

OK, I’m really not a big shopper (:guilty: please don’t disown me!) so we will browse a bit through a few of the main shops – World of Disney, Once upon a Toy, Basin and Goofy’s
DisneyQuest, we will either love this and spend lots of time here or do once or twice to see what it’s all about and move on

I’m really working to find the balance between planning all the things I want us to be able to experience and allowing ourselves to go with the flow a bit and do what feels right at the time. Most everything will still be there when we come back again!

How about Ridemakerz and Lego Store at DTD for the boys?

Doing a few things and having lots of pool and rest time will make for nice days for everyone. I love our long trips.

Those must-do's are definitely pretty awesome! Just kickin' back and relaxing and doing things at your own pace and not commando pace is nice!

I bet the boys would like Stitch though...At AK though I don't know if the boys would like Dinosaur - it scares me! Im surprised you think they wouldn't like Its Tough To Be A Bug! Do you think it's the pretend bug spray? Thats where I usually hear the most children crying.

I'm afraid I am no help with planning for waterparks. I've never been to a Disney one...I'm not a waterslide girl. Everything else sounds pretty awesome! I'm anxious to hear about DisneyQuest at DTD....and don't worry about not enjoying the shopping! I'm sure the rest of us do enough of it for you!

Thanks for the tips ladies. I don't know about putting actually large kernals of corn and I don't eat much that's spicey (like taco meat or sausage) but I will definitely look into the sour cream and sugar idea! That should help it be sweet and stay moist! Usually when I try it's extra-dry and crumbly and tastes like sour cardboard bits!:scared: Don't worry Katie, I'm only about an hour from Michigan so I can take care of the Olive Garden ;) I have tried to bring it back with me in a cooler but it doesn't travel well....I wouldn't mind that cornbread recipe that your family loves!:rolleyes1 Perhaps if you have time when you come back all nice and relaxed....lucky!:goodvibes

MeMom - there was one summer about 10 years ago when all of a sudden we got cherry coke and vanilla coke and then as quickly as we got it, they took it away....:( I don't understand why these companies feel that Americans deserve flavoured sodas but we Canadians have to go without ;) I'm just glad I live close enough that I can drive down and stock up on it! I watch the target and meijer flyers and buy multiple cases when it's on sale!

I'm not a huge pool person honestly but I do like a good waterslide and love a few laps on the lazy river! As long as they don't want to stay all day, I'll be good I think!

Here ya go!
Corn Casserole
1/2 c melted margarine
8 oz sour cream
2 beaten eggs
1 can cream style corn
1 can corn kernels
1/2 c sugar
1 box Jiffy corn muffin mix (if you don't have Jiffy, it's a 8.5 oz box)

Mix ingredients one at a time in the order listed
Pour into greased 9x13 pan
bake 45-60 min at 350 degrees until the edges are browned

Today brought the final day of school with kids :cool1: A work day on Monday and this year is a wrap :thumbsup2

On Tuesday, Daniel came home from school complaining of a tummy ache. he wound up with fluids coming from both ends :scared: (sorry if that's TMI!) He stayed home with Greg on Wednesday. This morning Greg said he wasn't feeling well and by lunch was complaining that he had no energy at all. Right after lunch, we got a call from the school nurse informing us Patrick had thrown up at school this morning. :sad2:

SO that's 3 out of 4 of us...send healthy thoughts that I don't get it next! Daniel is pretty much normal again today so if they time out the same, Greg and Patrick will both be OK by Monday.

My to-do list for the weekend is quite long, mostly things I need to do at home to be ready but tomorrow morning I have several errands: bank to get $$, post office to stop mail, YMCA to make deposit on Patrick's b-day party, mall to find new shorts for me and the boys and haircuts for all the males in the house.

Once that is done I will focus on cleaning the house and doing laundry before packing, which I hope to have done by Sunday night.

Hopefully our van which is in the shop waiting for a new part to come in will get done on Monday! We plan to have it loaded up before we head to bed Monday night

Thanks everyone! Patrick was still feeling yucky at times yesterday but overall, is much better. Greg said he was a lot better, he even managed to help with quite a few things on the to-to list! he helped pick up the house, mowed the lawn, took the boys for haircuts and helped make our t-shirts!

I managed to run several errands, did most of the laundry and pick up the house. I'm tempted to declare the laundry done but since in my battle of the germs, I stripped all beds clean the other day (blankets, comforters and all) I just don't want to face that mountain when I get home. School clothes on the other hand can wait! Won't be needing them for awhile :woohoo:

That really just leaves me with packing suitcases today and a couple errands on Monday. Last night, we grilled up quite a bit of food so the next 2 days means no cooking, just cleaning out the fridge

Tonight I'll make a final PT update to fill you in on the plan!

Oh my goodness, with just a few hours to go I have not accomplished everything yet!! :scared1: I am starting to pare down the jobs to the minimums. I normally like to clean the house pretty well so it looks nice to come home to. I guess if I don’t vacuum or clean the toilets before leaving, the dirt isn’t going anywhere. :rotfl:

I got all the errands finished today (including my last day of work :cheer2:) and just have my toiletries to pack in my suitcase but all the other bags are already in the van ready to go. I was going to do my nails tonight but I’m starting to get pretty tired so I think I will pack them in my carryon and maybe do them tomorrow afternoon.

Patrick still wasn’t feeling great this morning and rested quite a bit today. This afternoon, he seemed better. I think he’s now feeling nervous about the plane ride, in 2008 he threw up on the plane (I think it was jitters, he tends to become physically sick from nerves) Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better experience!

So here I give you…THE PLAN!!!!!

Tuesday the 7th

wake at 2:30 am, finish last minute things and head out
Flight leaves at 6:00 am and after a ½ hour layover in Milwaukee, arrives in Orlando at 11:30
ME to POP, Check-in, lunch in the food court
Swim until the room is ready
Dinner at WCC

Wednesday the 8th

Magic Kingdom day
10:00 (cross your fingers) breakfast at Chef Mickeys. The woman who had this reservation gave me her ADR number. The thing that makes me nervous is that it’s for 6. I think I will give her name and say she and her hubby didn’t make it…that should do!
Probably an afternoon break followed by more MK time in the evening

Thursday the 9th

Animal Kingdom day
We will probably spend most of the day here topping it off with dinner at Yak and Yeti

Friday the 10th

Star Wars Weekend at DHS
Most of the day will be dictated by the boys desires. Probably looking at autographs most of the day as well as the Jedi Training Academy and the Padawan Mind Challenge.
Dinner at Cape May

Saturday the 11th

Open day (waterparks, DTD, whatever!)
Dinner at Ohana

Sunday the 12th

Magic Kingdom day
Breakfast at Crystal Palace
Probably stay through the afternoon parade and call it a day
I’m really hoping to get together tonight with Anita and Jen this evening!!

Monday the 13th

Epcot day
Probably doing FW in the morning then taking a break before returning for an evening in WS
Dinner at Biergarten

Tuesday the 14th

Another day off
Dinner at Hoop Dee Doo

Wednesday the 15th

Hollywood Studios day
Lunch at Sci-Fi
Probably another short day

Thursday the 16th

Animal Kingdom day
Dinner at Grand Floridian Café

Friday the 17th

Free day #3!

Saturday the 18th

Epcot day
Lunch at Teppan Edo
Hoping to catch the Eagles tribute band this evening

Sunday the 19th

Hollywood Studios day
Lunch at Mama Melroses
Topping off the day with Fantasmic

Monday the 20th

Free day #4

Tuesday the 21st

Magic Kingdom day
Lunch at The Plaza
Our final night in the world with ELP and Wishes…the perfect ending!

Wednesday the 22nd

Flight out of Orlando around noon
Home by dinner time
Crash for a couple days to recover!!

I’ll be checking in from time to time to say hi. I’ll also be updating on Facebook often!

hey all, we are home at last!

Sorry I couldn't update more from our trip, I had really crappy coverage on my cell phone and the dis seems impossible to navigate on that touch screen :sad2: Plus, I am not a great typist on that little touchscreen.

SO...overall, the trip was great!! It was hot (record high temps yesterday) and of course, June level crowds but with the full 2 weeks, we managed to tackle a lot of on our wanted list.

I enjoyed POP more than I thought I would and we ate WAY too much food :sad2: I would have stayed longer if I could but Greg was tired of the crowds and the boys were starting to miss home so I had to come back with them :lmao:

I will do my best to start the TR in the next couple days but I need to tackle the mountain of laundry tomorrow. We got home and I just left all the suitcases in the van, didn't even want to face that task tonight!

ETA: I just noticed my ticker rolled over and says I'm returning next June. What are the chances I will get a second birthday trip?? :rotfl2:

Welcome home Katie!! I understand why you left the suitcases in the van - if you are anything like me, if they are in the house then they need to be unpacked and put away. I can not stand to have suitcases sitting around when we get home - doesn't matter how tired I am, the unpacking will be done before I go to bed. It's a sickness, I know.

I suppose certain carriers have better coverage in different parts of the county and mine is more of a midwest one.

Sorry no updates yet! Laundry is done at last, luggage put away and most other things brought home. While my refrigerator was mostly empty, I took the time to clean it all out before going to the store to fill it up again.

Now I am focused on Patrick's birthday party tomorrow. We went with a pool party to simplify things but I always make the boys cakes so I have that to prepare. We also need to go out today and buy stuff for goodie bags and a few other things. PLUS my SIL and niece/nephew will be coming and since we don't get to see them much, they will be spending a night or two so I have to return my house to a state that will allow that!

Please hang in there, I'll get this going in another couple days!

Don't worry about the report. We'll be here when you get to it. Heaven knows it takes a while to get back into the groove of real life, especially if you come straight back to a party and company. You'll probably get it started about the time we leave, so I can sit in my room at Pop and enjoy reading it late at night or early in the morning. What did your guys especially like at Pop? I can take a picture just for them. Do I have your phone number? You can PM me, if you want me to send them a picture. Unless it would be too painful. Don't want to upset them. :sad2:

UGH! Seems like I haven't had a chance to start my summer vacation :headache: Our trip started the day after we finished at school. Alrighty then…let’s get this going shall we!!

Day 1 - Tuesday, June 7

Our day began with the alarm going off at 2:30 am. Greg and I both took quick showers, brewed a pot of coffee, and did the last minute house preparations. Everything had been loaded up in the van the night before. About 3:15, we shook the boys…Patrick sat upright quickly and asked “DisneyWorld?” Yep baby…let’s go!! :yay:

I anticipated the boys would just crawl into the van and fall back asleep but apparently they were too excited and they were awake for the next several hours. We picked up my parents who dropped us off at the airport. The airport was surprisingly busy at the wee hours of 5:00 am and we waited in line a bit before checking in. Luckily, security went quickly and we were soon at our gate ready to board!

I won’t do this throughout the TR but I thought I would share our pattern of picture taking during this trip:
“Daniel, smile”

“Now this time look at me”
CLICK again

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00320.jpg

And so it went for the next 2 weeks! Luckily, Patrick was more cooperative

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00321.jpg

Our first leg was quick and painless, only 1 hour to Milwaukee. We were scheduled to have a ½ hour layover but found our plane was delayed an hour. Oh well, what can you do? We killed some time looking through the gift shop.

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00323.jpg

Then were on our way once again. Patrick and I watched a movie and Daniel and Greg napped on the 2 ½ hour flight to Orlando. We arrived and excitedly made our way onto the faux monorail

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00324.jpg

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00328.jpg

We breezed through the ME line and were led right onto the bus!

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00331.jpg

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00332.jpg

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00333.jpg

We enjoyed the video and anticipated the sight of that colorful arch

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00336.jpg

The first stop was at CBR then we were on to

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00339.jpg

The bus we had ridden was themed

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00340.jpg

Things were a little crazy at check-in but the boys kept busy while I waited in line

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00342.jpg

Turns out the computer systems were down and we weren’t able to formally check-in yet. We were given our welcome package and told our room was in building 5. We were also given comp park tickets to use since they couldn’t issue our package tickets yet. We had no plans to head to a park that night but they came in handy later on!

Our room was not ready but we had anticipated that so we headed to the pool since we packed the boys swimsuits in our carry-ons.

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00345.jpg

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00351.jpg

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00349.jpg

And we waited for our text message that the room was ready. And we waited, and waited. The phone buzzed several times but it was always someone else! After about 1 ½ hours, it was time for us to get ready for our dinner ADR’s and we hadn’t heard about our room. The boys changed again and we dropped our bags at bell services and headed out.

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00352.jpg

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00354.jpg

I can’t remember which park we changed buses at (I’m thinking DHS but surprisingly, I have no photo evidence of this). Before long, we were being dropped off here

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00356.jpg

It wasn’t quite dinner time yet but we killed some time looking around, browsing the gift shop and making wishes.

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00358.jpg

We checked in and were immediately seated for my much anticipated dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00365.jpg

We all ordered the skillet. It stared with cornbread and salad (with shakes to drink)

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00367.jpg

Soon followed by the main meal

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00371.jpg

Although the boys both got the skillet too, they got their own plates and sides

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00370.jpg

And for dessert, Greg got the apple pie with a mocha

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00372.jpg

And I chose the smores cheesecake

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00373.jpg

The verdict? The boys and I all loved the air of the place (Greg wasn’t swayed yet by all the fun but Daniel told me a couple days ago it was his favorite restaurant because he and the waiter had a game of poking each other :lmao:). The salad and cornbread were both excellent and the potatoes to die for! The desserts were fine but the meats were much too heavily spiced for my taste and I’m sad to say I was a bit let down by this much anticipated meal. I suspect though I would find myself here again given the right circumstances in order to enjoy the atmosphere and those rockin potatoes! Perhaps for lunch when they have sandwiches and such

After dinner, the plan was to take the boat over to MK to pick up the bus back to POP. I knew the geyser went off at the top of the hour but we weren’t really sure where it was and I had feared we’d missed it. We stopped and grabbed a couple pics

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00374.jpg

and were making our way past the pool when we heard the geyser start so we ran toward the sound

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00378.jpg

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00381.jpg

As you can see, the boys really enjoyed this!

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00383.jpg

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00385.jpg

Then we rode the boat

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00388.jpg

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00389.jpg

And got our first glimpse of the glorious MK!!

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00394.jpg

We briefly contemplated using those comp park tickets but decided to make it an early night instead so we returned to POP

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00395.jpg

We still hadn’t heard about our room yet, turns out, it had long been ready but the system was still down and we had failed to get our notice. Luckily, we arrived to find all our bags waiting for us! Daniel was excited to find this little guy also waiting for us

http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r435/ktschafer/2011%20ptr/DSC00396.jpg

I have absolutely no faith in the text message alert system...two years running now I didn't ever get a message and I've heard the same from so many others....they should work on that! But at least you knew you had a room and your luggage was in it when you arrived! (I've also had my luggage go to the wrong room!)

Greg looks seriously relaxed on ME and the boys look like they are having the time of their lives! It sure seems like things are off to a good start!:woohoo:

I'm sorry to hear you were underwhelmed with WCC. I know you were really looking forward to it. I knew you would like the cornbread at least! We liked WCC last year when DH and I went. It was good but not as much fun as I thought it would be, the only fun was the ketchup and then when they "sang" Happy B-day to DH. Last year, my room was ready at check-in but the trip before that the notice system also failed. Sounds like it's a bigger problem than I realized or I would have asked after swimming instead of dropping our bags at bell services. Oh well, if that's the worst thing that happens on vacation, you're doing pretty good!!

Greg and I knew we would be tired and the boys would be itching to swim. It was a great start to the trip!

It really was Greg's decision, I would have gone in if it was up to me but I knew we had 10 day tickets ahead of us and it was a good choice, we HAD been up since 2 am after all!

Hurrah! We are in WDW!! :yay: so excited to hear all about your trip. popcorn::

Sorry you were underwhelmed by WCC. I have forgotten - did you guys do the dining plan? Thanks for the look around. Such a pretty resort!!

We did do the dining plan. When the bill came, Greg about fell out of his chair (we actually paid OOP for this meal since we didn't have our package tickets yet. We were reimbursed once the system was back up again) I had to remind him several times on this vacation that we were only paying about $35/day for our food since we got the QS plan free and we only paid to upgrade. I know free dining isn't exactly "free" but for us, staying at a value resort, it was the best deal for sure!!

WL is probably my second choice dream resort (behind BC) It's very much my style and if it's location was comprable to BC, it would probably be first in my book

:rotfl: LL, you are too funny! I was pretty stuffed by the time dessert came around and I know I didn't eat it all but not because it wasn't good (in fact, I'm pretty sure before I gave up that I ate the top portion of it )

My disappointment in this meal is purely personal taste. The meats were just too spiced for my family's palate. The boys and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and all the sides were good. I really do think I would give it another try but go for something other than the skillet.

Yes, this trip was very different from the 2008 one with the boys being older! I'm so glad we got to do both trips and I'm sure our next one will be entirely different again

I agree that the chicken had a little bit of a bite to it. The shakes are good too though! And it looks like you had fun at least! I'm glad the poking game went over well! Too cute! Oh your boys are so adorable!:goodvibes

Greg really took a "I'm on vacation" attitude on this trip. It was really nice to see him relax and enjoy himself, he doen't do that easily in real life :sad2:

It wasn't our favorite meal but that's OK, we had lots of others that were great to make up for it. And yes, the cornbread was yummy! Greg told me a story about when he was a kid, they had a meal at school with cornbread and lots of other kids would give him theirs and he would end up with 6 or 8 pieces. It was his favorite meal but he couldn't tell you what else was served with it :lmao:

:rotfl: I was thinking the same thing....ummm there really wasn't a proper description there Katie!! I love smores....I remember having the smores dessert at Primetime...soo good!! :thumbsup2

Love the carpeting on the floor at Pop...would love that in my basement :goodvibes

Yep, baby let's go!!! Love it!! I would have popped right out of bed too!!:yay:

Tracy

My favorite part of smores is the chocolate so it was definitely more cheesecake than smores but it was yummy. might have been better if they had toasted the marshmallows

The rooms at POP were really nice with the recent refurb. The carpet looked cool but was wierd to walk on in barefeet because those different parts in the pattern were also different textures so it was a strange sensation on the feet

 Great start! I found your PTR but it was like the day you left so I waited for the real TR started to reply. Looks like you are having a nice trip so far. Your boys are cute. We liked WCC last year when DH and I went. It was good but not as much fun as I thought it would be, the only fun was the ketchup and then when they "sang" Happy B-day to DH. Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip.

Happy to see you again!! :goodvibes Looks like you've had a return trip since last spring too.

The boys got the biggest kick out of the ketchup thing. They would have been happier with burgers I think so they could play along! Patrick was being a bit of a grump when they did the hokey pokey and our waiter tried to make him do it solo but he made a good choice to drop it when Patrick resisted!

What a great first day at Disney!
The smores cheesecake looks delicious.

It was a wonderfully relaxing start to our trip. Thank goodness for the blessing of time that allowed us to have a "do nothing" arrival day!

Mmmm... potatoes... :) Since we pay OOP for our meals, I don't get to eat at many TS restaurants. I don't want to pay the $ for the meal plans, and I don't want to have to take that time away from park time, so I live my meal dreams through others. Thank you for sharing your food porn.

I realize the dining plan isn't truly the most economical way to eat at Disney but I like the idea of paying up front and not worrying about it. I hate a vaction where you feel like you are continuously pulling out your wallet. I like having "permission" to order whatever sounds good and not just what is the best deal!

I do get the time away thing though! When we did deluxe dining last year, that was a definite disadvantage...several hours a day for just food is hard when there are parks calling your name

I think it's ridiculously cute that in the two pictures you posted of Patrick and Greg together, they have the exact same smile :goodvibes

How irritating that you never got the notice that your room was ready :sad2:

Sorry WCC didn't live up to your expectations. We really liked it when we ate there, but it was also Christmas day and they had a traditional holiday menu that night, not their normal one.

Yes, Patrick is my mini-Greg! One of the disadvantages of not having a relationship with my in-laws is no baby pictures. I have only ever seen 1 picture of Greg at about Patrick's age and even that has been lost :guilty: Daniel really favors me so it's fun to have one of each of us.

It's funny that it's not just looks, it's personality too. Patrick is very determined and strong-willed like Greg (with both the good and bad aspects that go with that) while Daniel is much more laid back in most aspects of life (both good and bad ;) )

It's not that we didn't like WCC, the meats were just not to our taste and of course that was the main part of the meal. I'm glad we got there at last though!

So cool that you guys got to see the geyser go off! WL is also one of my dream resorts, right after Beach Club.

How nice you could chill. Sorry the text message alert did not work for you. I have never had a problem so I guess I am in the minority.:confused3

A dip in the pool is great way to start vacation.
I did the geyser run too! :lmao: Too bad you did not enjoy the skillet. I streered away from it because DS is picky about spices so we stuck to steak.

We knew we wouldn't have lots of energy after the early morning and with 14 full days ahead of us, a relaxing start was just what we needed!

did you like the steak OK? I had never heard anyone else not like the spices of the skillet so I was a little surprised. Still glad we tried it though!!

It really was a perfect beginning even with the room frustrations!

I'm a little surprised to find myself feeling the Disney blues today :guilty: After my trip last year, I really felt satisfied for several months but I'm really wishing to be there again. Actually, maybe it's just a bit of wanderlust because I would happily take off to just about anywhere right now.

I think I'll have some Main Street fudge to see if that helps :rolleyes1

The steak was great. DS usually doesn't like anything with spices except salt and paper. At 17 he finally trying and liking zesty fries. :rotfl:

I had the Disney blues SO BAD after our trip last October, it was the strangest thing because I didn't even want to go on the disboards because I knew it would bum me out, so I took a few months off from the boards and got back after Christmas. I had 'overplanned' a bit too much for this trip, and I think I was let down (don't get me wrong, we had a GREAT time), but it taught me a lesson to CHILL OUT with the planning and expectations!!!

Anyway, we all understand your mood, here is some pixie dust...pixiedust:

I'm very serious about my cheesecake intake, especially since I barely eat anymore with trying to lose weight. I like to think that I'm a cheesecake authority. The cheesecake at WCC and Narcossees are high on my list to try.

The thing with Marc and I is that I would love to try the platter but I know there is NO way we will eat all that food. I'm thinking appetizers and desserts here maybe for lunch. :confused3

well, I have had the good fortune of having both cheesecakes and although the one at WCC wasn't bad, it was not anywhere near the delicousness of Narcoossees! I do not consider myself a connoisseur of cheesecake but the almond crusted yumminess is worth dreaming about :cloud9: Granted, they are 2 different tastes but if I could only have 1, there is no doubt which I would pick

*******************************

I have had the worst luck with my latest update! I edited pictures last night and when finished, I went to save and the program froze up and I had to redo them. Today I went to upload to photobucket and had a little hiccup so I closed the internet and when I tried to log back on, it wouldn't let me in (oh yeah, I had to change my e-mail on the account because then one I had been using has been deactivated. Apparently I typed my new address wrong and now I can't get on! :sad2:)

so my stress level was a bit elevated after putting the boys to bed last night so I decided a little Disney therapy was needed...wine in my new Disney wine glass, disradio and a hot bath with a Basin bath bomb...AHHHH!!!! I highly recommend!

in other interesting news, Greg and I were having a conversation earlier this week about our family vacations. He commented that he enjoyed our Disney trip more than he thought he would :woohoo: but he thinks we need to make sure we take the boys other places too. In my more sane moments, I agree with him. I would love to bring them to Yellowstone, Yosemite and the Grand Canyon. Patick is a huge history buff and I know he would love to travel to Williamsburg and some of the civil war sites as well as visit DC. So it sounds like it will likely be a few years before we return to Disney.

Now I know this sounds like bad news but it's what followed this conversation that makes me :cool1: He said once the boys are out of the house, he doesn't care if I want go to Disney every year. You can bet I won't forget that!!

Hopefully I will get this picture issue figured out and get my next update up soon!!

I completely understand the Disney blues. They have hit me really hard too. Now I want to go another trip sooner rather than later. We always do summer do I thought it might be nice to see some other tie of the year especially a time when Disney isn't so crowded. We will see how that goes. I want to do the same thing when the kids get older. I want to travel to different places, but right now with the age of our kids we agree Disney just can't be beat for keeping our whole family entertained. We live in the DC area and there are tons of things to see. If your husband is a history buff, he will find tons in. And around the DC area.

Day 2 – Wednesday, June 8

From here on, I will plan every vacation possible to start with a day 1 like this trip – hanging out, relaxing, dinner and early bed. This I think helped make a great first full day at Disney!! I awoke bright and early (OK, in all honesty, it was so early, it wasn’t actually bright yet!) Of course the rest of the family was still asleep but I was geared up and decided to get out and explore POP century a bit.

The view from the corner of our wing.

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00398.jpg

I think I forgot to mention that we got our EXACT room request! I had asked for 50’s or 60’s, lake view, top floor. Other than being way down on the end of the wing, I was thrilled, and in all honesty, the wings aren’t so long it mattered that much. The boys were hoping for a pool view room but I secretly requested that lake view and everyone agreed by the end of the trip that it was the better choice, nice and quiet!

Since we had been to the 50’s the day before, I decided to walk in the direction of the 70’s first.

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00402.jpg

Mr and Mrs looked lovely in the morning light

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00405.jpg

I swung quickly by the 80’s

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00409.jpg

The pop jets were down our entire stay…sad!

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00415.jpg

I turned back toward the main hall

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00416.jpg

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00418.jpg

Took a quick glance at the 50’s

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00420.jpg

And back around to the hippy dippy pool

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00424.jpg

This was our building and we walked past Mowgli and Baloo a lot! We didn’t know at the time that there were lots of changes in store for this view in the next week.

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00431.jpg

A quick visit to the bridge

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00435.jpg

where workers were busy keeping it looking spiffy!

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00436.jpg

And a look across the lake. It was interesting to see the various stages of progress on the different buildings. Some were just empty shells, others had outside walls while others appeared nearly finished with windows and all

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00438.jpg

I meant to get back here and have my picture taken with this sign since it’s the year I was born but this was the only time I got to it

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00439.jpg

Looking up toward our room. You can see our window just behind the blue flower

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00441.jpg

A panoramic from in front of our room

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00442.jpg

Soon, it was time to wake up the family and get going for our first magical day!

I am trying to remember if I actually went on that pat of the tour that year. I think that there is either a paddle to make waves or a huge tank and pump system that makes the waves. I think since it is such a big wave and they can regulate it, it must be the tank and pump. The tank fills under the "mountain" and when it fills to the desired level the pump pushed the water out to create the wave.

That's what we did the first evening, too. We went DTD for a little while and ate with Earl. Then the girls had some kiddie pool time and we were off to bed. It made for a nice first full day the next day.

Good for getting your room request. We had a lake view, too. It is nice and quiet back there.

Goofy Jets are still down.

That outside the food court picture makes me feel like I am walking up to it right now. The air thick with heat, Pop workers hosing down the pool area, landscapers clearing brush.... I can be there in my mind so easily when I see Pop pictures.

Have fun with your trip planning. Maybe you can still sneak in a short girl trip to WDW among those other trips. Your boys will enjoy the other trips, no doubt, but how long will you survive without a little taste of Disney? And girl trips are pretty fun. ;)

It will be fun to see them finished. I wonder if they plan to share busing with POP when finished. I kind of hope not because that one stop busses is one of the major benefits of POP in my opinion!

I managed to get in a second morning walk later in the trip but only 2 in 15 days

What a lovely early morning stroll :goodvibes

My favorite part of those morning walks was seeing the army of workers out keeping things in top condition and each with a smile and "good morning" as you pass. It's that Disney difference!

I am trying to remember if I actually went on that pat of the tour that year. I think that there is either a paddle to make waves or a huge tank and pump system that makes the waves. I think since it is such a big wave and they can regulate it, it must be the tank and pump. The pump was our guess for the big waves. Could they have both since they alternate with bobbing waves?

The TR did help...thanks :flower3:

Wonderful Pop pictures - I love early morning when things are quiet and the sun is coming up! :thumbsup2

Me too, up before the sun (and heat and crowds)

Your trip is getting close!

And girl trips are pretty fun. ;)

Given how noisy the pools are in the middle of the day (and well into the evening) I think we will always request a lake view. Sad the Goofy jets aren't up and working yet!

Oh, I secretly hope to sneak away for another Mom trip, maybe fall 2012. I'm not going to push now, we have some other priorities we need to focus on first

Ahhh... What a relaxing morning.

It really was :thumbsup2

So glad you got that lake view you wanted! Looks like a great way to start the morning. Can't wait to see what the day holds. popcorn::

Coming right up!!

So I guess we were all a bit anxious this morning because we were up and out of the room at an awesome time! Sadly, this was the only morning I can say this. Check out our arrival time :cool1:

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00443.jpg

Yep, nice and early for our first Magic Kingdom day! We staked our spot front and center for the rope drop show. As much as I would love to be the first on a ride someday, I am a sucker for that show so I am resigned to being behind the pack by the time we get to the rides. Totally worth is though in my opinion!

I must confess to not being a fan of the current décor but how cute is this boy!

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00444.jpg

Soon the mayor came out to greet us

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00446.jpg

In 3 trips, I have had the fortune to see 3 different residents of main street welcome us. I wonder how many of them take turns. How fun of a job these people have, starting each day with song and dance

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00448.jpg

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00450.jpg

Of course the characters came to join the fun

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00459.jpg

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00460.jpg

And as always, Mickey had one lucky family open the park

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00461.jpg

Then we were on our way down Main Street on our way to that amazing castle. I chose to keep the camera away for this moment though and really just soaked it in. It had been 3 years since the boys had seen it and I just wanted to enjoy it with them.

So where to for our first ride on the first day? We made our way through the castle where we saw these crazy ladies greeting their court

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/IMG_0978.jpg

Then off to our destination

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00463.jpg

We had skipped Dumbo in 2008 to avoid lines and convinced the kids the other hub and spoke rides were the same. I regretted this later so it was priority #1 today!

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00464.jpg

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/IMG_0979.jpg

My new camera has a cool feature where it will take a picture every ½ second so I enjoyed playing as we circled (if you are curious, these are actually every 3rd picture so 1.5 seconds between shots)

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00483.jpg

Lots of activity on the other side of that fence. Greg got a decent shot of some of it

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/IMG_0982.jpg

I’ll be anxious for our return when this will surely be done

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/IMG_0988.jpg

We saw a much awaited character with no line so we had to stop and say hi. Patrick was in the play at our local playhouse last year so this was an exciting moment

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/IMG_0985.jpg

Now I know you are going to think I am crazy when I tell you that this is all we did before leaving MK this morning! But we had big plans and needed to head off to them…

kschafer
07-09-2011, 09:51 PM
During the PTR, I mentioned the possibility of this next plan but didn’t know for sure until a couple days earlier and was still uncertain if it was going to work but I was determined to give it a try! We made our way back down Main Street and hopped the monorail for breakfast at

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00486.jpg

Another diser passed her ADR # to me but I was nervous at using someone else’s and also because her ressie was for 6 people and I was worried it would be a problem but it turned out to be no problem at all!! We were quickly seated and with no characters in sight, made our way through the food line.

I only have one food porn pic to share but boy what a pic!

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00487.jpg

It may not look like much at first glance…just a croissant, some grapes, a piece of bacon, your typical Mickey waffle (OK, I guess you have to appreciate that little beauty!) but it’s the spoonful of amazing deliciousness at the bottom that deserves all the glory!!! Those are cheesy bacon hash browns and they were AMAZING!!!! I had 2 more servings of them before breakfast was over.

Eventually, the characters started to arrive beginning with the main mouse

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00489.jpg

You might recall me having concerns about how Daniel would react to the characters. He wanted nothing to do with them in 2008 and will shy away from any characters in parades and such. We had talked about them quite a bit leading up to this trip but I wasn’t sure if he would want to see them or not. It didn’t go running to them but didn’t hide either!

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/IMG_0989.jpg

Next it was time to twirl.

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00492.jpg

Daniel wasn’t sure about this (and Greg just looks silly!)

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00493.jpg

But Patrick loved it

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00495.jpg

It was convenient that the person with the original ADR was also celebrating a b-day because it was noted on the ressie and I got this little treat.

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00491.jpg

Not a great pic but it was the standard cupcake with chocolate Mickey head, we enjoyed it. Next up, Donald!

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00500.jpg

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/IMG_0991.jpg

Followed by Miss Minnie

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00503.jpg

Who Daniel was NOT interested in but she got a kiss in anyway

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00504.jpg

Then Pluto

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00507.jpg

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00509.jpg

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/IMG_0996.jpg

At this point we were ready to head out but were going to wait for the last character. The boys were up and getting their stuff when Goofy came by. He must have been tired because he had a seat when he joined us

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00511.jpg

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00514.jpg

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/IMG_0997.jpg

So what was the verdict on Chef Mickey's? We loved it! The food was excellent, lots of variety, nice and fresh. The character interaction was fun and we all had a great time! Definitely on our do again list

And with that, we made our way out of the contemporary

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00515.jpg

And went back for more Magic Kingdom fun!

And let me just tell you we were loving the cooler temps last night! It's been over 100 degrees everyday for what seems like forever at home and last night we were all sitting outside enjoying temps in the 60s, it was awesome!

I was happy to get there first thing, even if the wait was already 15 minutes by the time we got there! I have happy pictures of me riding with my grandparents and now happy pics with my own kids :goodvibes

I looked up the recipe for the hashbrowns but it calls for "cheese sauce" and of course there are many variations which can potentially change the flavor (and it also gave me a clue about nutrition which...well...let's just say it may have to be a vacation only food!)

Sounds like a great start to your day! Loved the pictures from Dumbo, what a neat feature on your camera! Chef Mickey's looked yummy! We had dinner there and enjoyed it too. Can't wait to hear more! :)

I love the burst mode setting. It can actually take 10 pics in a second but really, there is such little change in a scene in that time, I set it for a longer delay. My only complaint is that the processing of the pictures is several additional seconds so it is a bit of a wait before you can take more.

I'm so glad you were able to ride Dumbo first thing! I adore Dumbo, it just makes me feel like a kid again.

I thought it was less chaotic than Crystal Palace but maybe that was because we were sitting kind of in a separate room instead of in 1 big open one. No Mickey though :scared1: I would be upset about that too!!

Such a sad thought :guilty: Given Greg is a good 10 inches taller than me, I'm destined to be the shortest eventually

I was thrilled to get to CM while the kids were this age, I have a feeling Patrick may be a bit more jaded by the time we get to again (at least on the outside, I think he'll always be a big softy on the inside like his mom!)

My aunt lives just north of Muskegon and it sounds like they got hit hard too! How sad about the death :sad1: As far as I know, there were no serious injuries although a nearby town had to be evacuated because of gas leaks and they lost so may power lines, they had to bring in a generator capable of powering the whole town

****************************

As you might guess, we got our internet back! Given there are still a couple thousand people in our area still without power, we are pretty lucky to have everything restored to normal. I do need to call the insurance company tomorrow and ask about getting an inspector out to our house. Our chimney cap blew off and landed in the street and I want to make sure there was no damage to the chimney itself or the roof somewhere on it's way down.

Given how many people have damage from falling trees and blown shingles, I suspect we will be low priority!

I did get the next update done, should have it up tomorrow after I get pics uploaded to photobucket

It’s funny how memories can be deceiving. My memory of this first magic kingdom day was that we enjoyed a relaxed day yet got a lot done. However, when I went through my pictures, I realized we didn’t really get a lot done. Still, a fun day was had by all!

After our breakfast with the gang, we headed out of the contemporary

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00516.jpg

And hopped the monorail back to the park. Patrick just adores little kids and makes new friends wherever we go

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00517.jpg

The castle stage show was going on but we had other destinations in mind so we kept going

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00520.jpg

The boys had to see if they were destined to be King

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00523.jpg

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/IMG_0998.jpg

But alas, they are not! Part of our goal for the day was to collect fastpasses since we had an afternoon break planned and figured we would use them up when we returned in the evening. We grabbed FP’s for Pooh and got the “bonus” passes for Philharmagic. Of course, these really don’t mean a lot except you don’t have to go through the maze of the main line. But we used them anyway!

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00524.jpg

The boys remember liking this attraction 3 years ago but of course don’t really remember any details about it so instead of focusing on the movie this time, I watched my boys. It was so enjoyable to see their reactions to the special effects. Not long ago, there was a thread where someone commented on how much they dislike people who talk on attractions. Now, I agree you should put your cell phone away and keep your voices to a minimum when you do talk but listening to the low buzz of children and parents interacting with each other was a great reminder to me of why Walt built this special place for us. So we could enjoy the fun together!

My kids are silly in love with the carrousel so on we went!

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00536.jpg

I’m wondering if we had grabbed FP’s before breakfast. I also want to say we did Laugh Floor at this point but I could be totally getting my days mixed up too!

Part of our plan for a more laid back vacation meant afternoon breaks so we made our way down main street but stopped to enjoy these guys

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00537.jpg

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00538.jpg

And it looks like we had to grab some popcorn too!

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00540.jpg

Then returned to

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00541.jpg

We went to the pool for a bit then decided it was nap time. Greg fell asleep first and I dozed off with the boys watching TV. I woke up first and found Daniel had also fallen asleep. Sometime around 4:00, I figured it was time to return and shook the still sleeping boys. Greg complied reasonably quickly but Daniel was going to have nothing to do with it! We shook him, we poked him, we talked to him and even probably tickled him but he was NOT ready to get up! I was seriously disappointed but there was no way I wanted to drag him out the door and set ourselves up for a miserable night!

I had wanted to get back to MK for dinner but in desperation to preserve ride time, Patrick and I walked to the POP food court and ate. When we returned, we managed to bribe Daniel with the talk of food and we trekked again to get dinner for Greg and Daniel. By the time we got on the bus again, it was nearly 7:00!! Greg and I decided at that point that any afternoon breaks can’t include a visit to the pool because certainly that contributed to Daniels exhaustion!

We once again made our way to Fantasyland and headed straight to

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00542.jpg

Pooh! Since we used our FP’s, we didn’t get a chance to play

But knew we would be returning so on we went! Next, I somehow convinced the boys to ride snow white with me since I knew it would be gone by the time we return to Disney.

OK, they hated it! Not for the reason they thought they would (princesses) but because it was too scary. Daniel declared he was glad it is going away because he was NEVER going on that again!

Next up…one I knew everyone but Greg would love

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00587.jpg

I had promised Greg he wouldn’t have to ride with us but at the last minute, he decided it would be important to suck it up and go with the family but I had to promise him we would not to go again on this trip.

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00618.jpg

We stopped in the last room and I had the chance to play with the panoramic setting again

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00621.jpg

The boys were dying to do the speedway because Patrick knew he would be big enough to drive his own car this time. I figured there would still be a bit of a wait but now would be the time to do it since it was dark. Anyone who has waited in that line in the sun knows what I mean…that is a blazing hot queue!

As much as Patrick wanted a car to himself, I had no desire to do this solo since Daniel wanted to ride with Greg

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00632.jpg

So he agreed to let me ride along

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00633.jpg

Let’s just say, it’s a good thing they don’t give licenses to 10 year olds!! That was quite the adventure. Actually, I must admit he got the hang of it eventually but it was a bumpy ride!

It was going on 10:00 at this point (seriously...where was the time going!) So we decided to see what we could of wishes from

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00636.jpg

Peoplemover! It was right after this picture was taken that Daniel just melted my heart by declaring “this really is a dream come true!!” (and yes, typing that makes me teary all over again). We got some decent views of the fireworks

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00639.jpg

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00650.jpg

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00655.jpg

And better yet, the boys loved peoplemover…YAY! We thought we would try astrorbiter before Wishes was over

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00667.jpg

But before we boarded the elevator, Daniel decided he didn’t want to ride. We thought maybe he was thinking it was something else and tried reminding him that he liked it on our last trip but he was NOT going to budge. We had space mountain FP’s so we decided I would do astrorbiter with Patrick then Greg would take him on SM since he has never ridden and Daniel wasn’t going on that one either.

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00668.jpg

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00670.jpg

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00672.jpg

After our ride, Patrick decided he didn’t want to do SM after all so I gave Greg the FP’s and told him to give the others away (it was EMH’s night). The boys and I headed to the gift shops to look around and wait and after that we called it a night.

So you see what I mean about memories…although my mind believes we did a lot on this day…the pictures tell me we actually accomplished very little I think (except for walking Main Street 6 times LOL!) BUT what’s most important is not the number of rides but the number of good times and that we did well on our first full day!

BAD diser!! I hang my head in shame for having neglected my TR for so long!! I don't particularly even have a good excuse...just enjoying what's left of summer I guess. Life has been busy with my job as taxi driver to tennis, golf, swimming lessons and taekwondo. Greg has also been busy with his summer remodel projects which leave me with lots of household work to clean up around him. On top of that, we are preparing for a garage sale in 2 weeks and I am trying to get rid of as much as possible so I have been spending a lot of time in our basement and in the boys rooms sorting and moving stuff around

I can't believe July is almost over and the dreaded August begins tomorrow. I always promise myself to not start thinking about school until August but this year brought a surprise. I got a phone call this week asking if I would be interested in a new job! It was quite unexpected and I wasn't exactly in the job market but I thought I would go visit the school and see what I thought. The job is for the nearby indian reservation and they recently built and AMAZING new school. It would really be a great place to work but unfortunately, because the school is small, the job is 7-12 with 6 preps which is a LOT to take on. The pay is also surprisingly low and I have decided to pass on the offer

But even with all that's going on, I promise to do my best to keep up around here and hopefully catch up on my subscriptions I have fallen behind on also. First responses then in the next couple days, another update!

And THAT is what it's all about my friend!!!:thumbsup2

That comment absolutely melted my heart!! Made every minute of planning and obsessing worth it (OK...I would have enjoyed the obsessing anyway )

Looking back, we did OK. It was the frustration of the break being so much longer than I had anticipated and not getting to do everything on our list of things-to-do. Of course in hindsight, it's easy to say that's just fine!

Awesome shot inside Wilderness Lodge! :thumbsup2

I love the pics of your boys in the geyser. I've seen it go up a few times, but it has never rained down on me - what fun! I thought they usually calculate the height of the geyser factoring in wind speed and direction (I swear I read that/heard it somewhere!), but perhaps not!

I have those "sane" moments too. Yet so far Disney has won every time. :rolleyes1 It will change (maybe even this year?) as Henry gets older though. I want him to experience more of what our amazing country (and hopefully abroad!) has to offer. But, Disney will ALWAYS be a destination not too far off.

A FB friend posted a pic yesterday of her hubby/kids in front of the big wheel. It's funny because I wondered how she had been silent about an upcoming trip...such a non-diser!! :rotfl2:

I was a bit surprised with the geyser because I had never heard of people running through the spray (and in fact had a moment of panic at kids doing so since it's a bad idea with the real thing but of course harmless at Disney )

Oh, Greg isn't gung-ho for Disney after the boys leave, he's just OK with the idea of me going once the boys are gone...lots of girls trips but hopefully he will join me occasionally

I am a bit surprised to have not gotten a phone call with a formal job offer. I knew they were talking to others and they must have selected another person. Good thing I didn't get my hopes up!!

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/IMG_1011.jpg

Took a few minutes to look around

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00678.jpg

And since we had already blown our chance at an early safari departure, we took the time for some photopass pics

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/Photo0098FourBySix.jpg

And to take in the wonderful sight of that amazing tree!!

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00681.jpg

My goal was to spot some animals I hadn’t noticed before. This koala was new to me

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00682.jpg

And so was the bison

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00683.jpg

The elephant is simply an old favorite. I love how its trunk is placed to flow with the waterfall. And is that a hidden mickey on the birds back? Now THAT is theming!!

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/IMG_1017.jpg

We talked for a few minutes with a girl about these little guys

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00688.jpg

We were headed to Africa but I must have stopped to try out the zoom of my new camera. It could see all the way to Asia, now that's a powerful zoom :lmao:

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00689.jpg

I grabbed FP’s for the safari and we hopped the train that had just pulled in. Some people really pack too much for a Disney vacation!

I love how they have the train all outfitted for its many travellers!

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00693.jpg

This was a new stop for me. I was sick the day the rest of the family did this in 2008 and Shelby and I didn’t go last year

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/IMG_1022.jpg

We let the crowd get ahead of us and it was definitely the way to go, the path was nice and quiet. Being a fan of rocks, I absolutely loved these leaves!! Wish I could have these at my house

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00706.jpg

Daniel totally was fascinated by the animals in the cement

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00704.jpg

And was excited to see all the ones he had seen in one place

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00709.jpg

Such pretty details

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00710.jpg

Some of my favorites…the morpho butterfly (which I finally got to see in person this summer at a butterfly house!!)

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00713.jpg

And the bald eagle in honor of the 3 little eaglets we spent so much time this past year watching from egg to flight thanks to the nest cam

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00714.jpg

Patrick started complaining that he didn’t feel good so he and Greg sat awhile (I think he was just tired, he’s the only one who hadn’t napped the day before) and Daniel and I looked around

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00716.jpg

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00717.jpg

He really enjoyed looking at the different animals

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00722.jpg

We looked to see what animal was on the schedule for today

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00723.jpg

It was a pelican and was getting x-rays

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/ktschafer71/2011%20TR/DSC00724.jpg

Patrick thought perhaps some food might help him perk up so we went to pizzafari. No food porn but I finally got that yummy looking sandwich and it did not disappoint!!! The room we sat in had some really cools murals on the wall. Apparently, these were the only pics I took but the cool thing if you looked hard is that the animals and environments depicted moved from the north pole to the equator as you turned around the room

As we sat there, I discoverd Patrick's real problem was that he was anxious to get to the boneyard which wasn't on the schedule until our second AK day. He promised he would be OK if we used our FP's for the safari first then head in that direction. Lesson for the day...have a discussion the night before about everyones most wanted for the next days park!!

Awwww, that is seriously cute that he was worried about missing the boneyard. That is just too sweet.

I love the AK photopass pictures, very cute, especially the simba ones. :goodvibes

Wonderful PP pic. I agree that the simba pictures are simply adorable. I also love all the pics you took of the conservation station. That's for allowing me to see all that detail. I haven't been back there since 2006!

You are clearly off to a great day at AK. Glad you finally update. :rolleyes1 Looking forward to more!

Oh, I haven't been on that train, or to the conservation station, in SO long! Definitely a must-do in January. I had a little flashback to pictures on reports when I went to the New England Aquarium a few weeks ago -- they have an area where you can watch the vets doing their thing. Obviously not as good as at AK ;) but it reminded me of there. Love your PP pictures too!

I love all of your super-cute photopass pictures! I never take the time to do it and I really should! I love the boys' expressions in the one where you are holding Tinkerbell! Very sweet! It looks like you guys were off to a great start at AK! That is so adorable that Patrick was so worried about missing the Boneyard! I'm glad you were able to figure out the root of the problem! Looks like Daniel was really loving Planet Watch too! I love it there too! And I've never seen a pelican x-ray before! Pizzafari is always a good bet for lunch too! This day definitely sounds like fun to me!:thumbsup2

Katie, great update. I like the fact that you took your time at AK and took in some of the sites. We've not done that train ride in years and I hope to squeeze it in this trip.

The photopass pictures are terrific!

Still cute, even when trying to be scary. Great family picture!

It's nice to get a Cruise Line bus to a park every now and then. Something different, and for me, probably the only time I'll ever be riding one, since going to a ship in one is not likely to happen.

Those elephants at Rafiki's are so kind not to mind all of our DIS kids climbing all over them all the time. :)

Nice update. You know how much I love to see AK pictures. :tigger:

Lesson learned that morning...let the kids pick because saying "we'll do that on our next day here" just isn't going to cut it!

I'm not sure I would visit without little ones either so I'm glad I finally took the chance to go.

It won't be so long before the next update I promise!!

I had a loaf of bread last night than when sliced looked like a flattened mickey head...finding Disney wherever you look is a symptom of a sickness you know! :lmao:

I wanted to take a family picture each day of our trip but you will see we didn't quite make it. Greg was kind of picky about when he wanted to stop (and I realized after I received my CD that our last day family pics were not on there :sad1:)

Pizzafari was really yummy!!

Daniel really enjoyed exploring all there was to see which was a surprise because that's more typical of Patrick. I had to push down my commando persona and realize that he was having a blast catching little details and learning new things at the same time. Once I did that, I enjoyed our time there.

Still cute, even when trying to be scary. Great family picture!

Too bad the bus wasn't taking us to the big boat but we enjoyed the trip for sure!!

I definitely thought of your 2 rats when the boys posed on the elephants :goodvibes

The boys really enjoyed trying to spot different animals. The elephant is one of my faves for sure! On our second day, we were going to walk the trail behind the tree to get an up close view but Greg wasn't feeling it so we ended up skipping it.

Wish all the Disney buses were as comfy as that one that took you to AK that morning!

I haven't been out to Rafiki's Planet Watch in a long time. One of these trips I want to go out in the morning and see if I can catch the vets at work, but I'll have to force myself to let go of my race to EE & the safari to do that!

Yes!!! Charles understands when I talk about my DIS friends and is super tolerant of my obsession but I KNOW if I started talking about how that reminded me of Disney I'd get the combination eye roll/head shake/smile! :rotfl: He always tells me I have two types of radar, "puppy radar" (I LOVE dogs and can spot them from a mile away), and "Disney radar" (obviously.) When we were at the venue where the Boston Bruins play looking for tickets earlier in the year, we stopped in the pro shop after and I was in the back of the store when I heard from one of the mounted TV's at the FRONT of the store, "Disney's Animal Kingdom..." then "...Expedition Everest..." and I started making my way towards the front. I think I kept saying I heard something about Disney and Charles kept on asking what set off my radar. I had no idea what sports player was there, I just wanted to see Disney!

I had a loaf of bread last night than when sliced looked like a flattened mickey head...finding Disney wherever you look is a symptom of a sickness you know! :lmao:

:rotfl: It's a good thing I finished my coffee before I read this! :lmao:

I know that I have NO right to feel this way but now that free dining has been announced for the week of my birthday...IT'S KILLING ME THAT I'M NOT GOING!!! Yes, 2 weeks with the whole family was much more special than 1 week with just the boys would be but I can't help but feel a bit pouty about it :guilty: If I had been able to make the b-day trip work, my parents would have joined us and my brother and I keep trying to talk them into going and doing the dining plan (Dad has said he would like the freedom but Mom isn't convinced on the cost) so I was really hoping for that chance for them too

Never hurts to put down a deposit. Just sayin'... :rolleyes1;)
