I'm going down their with my gf and i was just wondering if anyone else had experiences dating down there. I heard things could be real hectic down there.

Just wondering if anyone would share experiences about dating and stuff while on the program.

I am leaving my bf of almost three years (we will have our three year anniversary while I am in FL :lovestruc) to do the DCP and I'm also curious about how that will turn out! I know I will be working a lot of long hours, so I hope it doesn't add extra strain to our temporarily long distance relationship. :sad2:

I'm going to be leaving my boyfriend of almost 8 years behind.... and our 8th anniversary is while I'll be down there...

I don't think that it will be too different from before we were living together. 3 hours or 9 hours doesn't make a difference when I don't have a car... I will get to see him way less than every 3 or 4 weeks, like before, but I know it's just for 7 months, and it will fly by.

What we did before was talk a lot. Online, Skype, on the phone, and I plan on doing the same while I'm away. :)

It will be ok, everybody, it's only 7 (or less) months, and its not like completely unvisitable like being abroad or something for the same amount of time.

Alright. I have experience in dating down there haha.

I went down while dating a guy for 3 years. He stayed in MN while I was in FL. I broke up with him about 2 months into the program. I then started dating someone I met down there. That did not work out.

IT is really hard doing long distance, obviously. But it is EVEN harder when you are in Disney and want to make friends and play int he parks when you finally get some free time. If your bf/gf does not uderstand this...things will be bad. You don't want to be "that person" who is ALWAYS texting or NEVER goes out at night because you have to be on the phone with ur bf. IT sucks. You will quickly lose friends in the program because everyone else is trying to have funa dn build relationships while you are down there.

I am going again in the Fall. This time with a different guy (This sounds like a soap opera...I promise it is not). We are both very excited! I think GOING with your bf/gf will be hectic int he snes that you won't see each other much...but when you do it will be amazing. And you understand what the other person is going through and the experiences they are trying to have.

Basically....if you and ur bf/gf are jealous people and need to keep tabs on each other then you will struggle. A lot. Because you will either need to talk to them every night and be "that person" who is really antisocial OR you and ur bf/gf will most likely split.

If you and ur bfgf are very trusting and understanding and not jealous you might be good!
Hope this helps.

Ya neither my gf or i are the jealous type. I'm pretty excited about going and could totally understand that we will be super busy most of the time but at the end of the day we could spend time together it would be awesome.
It's also good that we are both pretty social so we arent going to be dependent on hanging out with each other all the time.
Thanks for the story. Very entertaining soup opera!

I think it (obviously) varies from couple to couple. When I (hopefully) go on the program in Spring 2012, I will be leaving behind my boyfriend of 2 years (well... it will be about 3 years by the time I go down!) in Connecticut. I used to be the jealous type, but I'm getting much better at it (I'm a year older than him, so I had to go off to college and leave him behind in high school and it basically forced myself to trust him). He supports me 150% to do the college program because he knows how much it means to me, so I THINK we'll be alright when I go.

We're also not the couple that HAS to be on the phone for 1+ hours every night. So I think that will help us as well.

It really does vary. I left my fiance at home while I did the program but we made sure to see each other ever 2-3 weeks (I live 3 hours South of Disney so it was fairly easy to do)

We talked every day, texted, IMd, e-mailed etc which helped a lot.

I will say that the whole experience brought us closer together and make us appreciate one another more. For us, absence really did make the heart grow fonder.

I left my boyfriend of two year to do the program. We are both from Pennsylvania. It wasn't easy but it's extremely doable. He came to visit once, right in the middle of my program for a few days. If the love is real and you two are committed to making it work, it will work.

i have 2 friends who are down there right now who are dating. they loved doing it together. they were able to support each other when it got rough, and for the girl of the couple, it was absolutely awful, so she really liked having her bf there. they especially liked their date nights, because disney is full of awesome date night places. i think it'll be fun, but don't spend all your time with only your gf, because you want to make friends, too

I am going down with my bf of 6 years and am so excited. its gonna be hard working different schedules but i am sure we can manage!! I cant wait to have date nights in disney!! :) I think it would have been very difficult if only one of us was going, but if a relationship is strong and you want it to work out, Im sure you can make it happen!!
