I'm thinking about moving to Orlando and was wondering if anyone knew any places near Disney. I would be looking to getting a full time job there and going to Valencia College. I found a few apartments such as Sabel Palms at Lake Buena Vista and Cumberland Park. Thanks for any help in advance :goodvibes

I believe Cumberland Park is housing for the PIs.

I believe Cumberland Park is housing for the PIs.

Cumberland Park also has normal apartment units that are rented out. It isn't owned or operated in the same manner as the other Florida-Site DI&P housing complexes; it's just a regular apartment complex in which Disney happens to lease out a block of units, similar to DI&P Housing in California.

@OP: It should be noted that the housing complexes near WDW are quite expensive if you're living by yourself, even though many of them do offer Cast Discounts. If you expand your search radius, you'll find cheaper places. I live a little north of Universal, next to Valencia's West Campus, and it's much cheaper, and still not that far from WDW at all.

As Glendalais pointed out, Cumberland is a regular apartment rental complex and expensive unless you can get a couple of roommates. That said, it is really nice and also gated. Sabel Palms is also nice but again on the high end side as far as pricing.

The further away you go, the better the pricing will be but I suggest that you do some research as to the area and the apartments themselves. There are several apartment rating websites which can give you a good idea of the complex - you do have to take some of the reviews with a grain of salt but overall it will give you an idea.

Also keep in mind that Florida has some unique income requirements (unique because we don't here in Indiana-just income verification). Your income must be at least 2 1/2 times the fair market price of the listed rental unit price (this can be combined with other roommates) for most locations. Some places also have an income cap as well. Trying to rent without a secured position will be difficult at best. One of my best friends who is a manager at AK had a difficult time when she had originally transferred from Texas proving her income and position while meeting the income requirements. Not saying that you can't get a place, just something to keep in mind for some locations. We recently helped our daughter find a place and I am only speaking from our personal experiences that we encountered. Some places may in fact be easy to rent from but this is just what we came across.

As for school, remember that you must establish Florida residency in order to pay in-state tuition and I believe Valencia requires one full year of residency. Otherwise you will be paying out of state tuition fees which are substantially higher.

I believe that Disney normally has a job fair in May, at least they did last year. I would suggest to attend if you are able and if they have it again.

Right now with a record number of CPs, it is difficult at best to get full time for most roles. You will also be competing with current CMs who have applied for full time and have seniority. You may find it easier to go part time or seasonal at first to get your foot in the door.

Good luck with your adventure.

Thank you so much Iris!! It helped a lot!! Yeah after I researched a little more I found other apartments that are cheaper and still fairly close to Disney. And I will defently check in to the job fair!
