Seems most people really enjoy the nightly dress up dining experience. My family must just be weird when it comes to food. Last year was our first cruise on the Magic and I packed dress-up clothes for my family of 4 (THAT WAS 7 nights, 4 people = 28!! outfits just to eat in the dining rooms) Of course lesson learned--I over packed. But also my family just didnt like the food served in the dining rooms at night. My husband and I are both really conservative when it comes to what we will eat. And the kids well they would have pizza every night. So I was wondering are there other familys out there that plan on skipping out on all the dress up stuff and just eat at Topsiders or the food court area at poolside? Should I save on packing, and skip the nightly ordeal. Will we blend in amongst all the nightly people wondering the ship all dressed up? Just curious if any other familys feel the same? FOZZY

Although we didn't skip meals in the main diningrooms, by the end of our three-peat I was ordering off the kids menu! Don't worry, you will definitely blend in if you go that route. People don't all dress up for dinner, and with the two seatings there will be plenty of people wandering the ship in casual clothes.

Fozzy,
I say, do what is best for you and your family... no one will care as long as you don't come to main dining in inappropriate clothes. I would pack one or two nice outfits, just in case you change your mind. but have fun, I am just jealous you are doing the 7 day, I am only doing the 4 day :(
p.s. inkkognito, where did you snag that Cobra Bubbles pic? Its too hilarious..

Hi Fozzy,
This will be our first Disney cruise, so I can't say how I feel about the food or the restaurants (we tend to be a very casual family also, and although I am not a picky eater, DH and my kids are much more so). The important thing to remember is this is your vacation! It sounds like you and your family enjoy eating casual more than formal, and the beauty of the cruise is that you can do that. What's important is that you all do what you enjoy. I am sure you will have company in the casual set!

remember you can always try out the restaurants for lunch and be dressed casually - we may end up doing that since DH doesnt like wearing anything but shorts/sweatpants -- he owns no (regular) pants yet and we leave in 8.5wks!

Hi Fozzy. You sound a lot like us. We're really weren't into the food in the dining rooms, and as I've said here before, would probably be happy with a Pizza Hut onboard. We also didn't like having to stop all the fun we were having just to get ready to eat at a certain time. When we did go to the dining room, we always dressed appropriately, so you may want to bring one or two nicer outfits just in case. We also told our tablemates and waiters the first night that we may not be eating there often, so please start the meal without us. For many people, a special part of their cruise vacation is the wonderful ambiance and food of the dining rooms--especially on formal nights. But if you're not one of those families (we're not), you certainly won't feel out of place. Have a great time!:D
