Information for this years 4th Annual Indianapolis Disney Meet is posted in the "DIS Meets" forum.

The meet is intended for Disney enthusiasts to get together for a day of Disney fun. We will also be raising money for the Power of 10 - Give Kids the World DIS initiative during the meet. All of the important information about the meet is included in the official thread.

Although I'm not from the area, I know most of the group pretty well. There is absolutely no requirement that you have kids to enjoy yourself at this meet. Its just an opportunity for a bunch of Disney fans to meet and share experiences, laughter and good food.

Families with children are encouraged to attend. We have a whole section of the facility reserved for kids activities like face painting, Disney tattoos, coloring, Disney themed games, and even Kidcot Fun Stops. There are prizes specifically for children. Last year we had life-sized princess and Pixar character themed cutouts for kids and adults to take pictures with during the meet. Kids love the meet and find it difficult to leave at the end of the day. :wizard:

Over the past 3 years the Indianapolis Meet has raised nearly $5,000 for Give Kids the World. We hope to continue our tradition of a day of Disney fun, food, prizes, and giving.

Hi Everyone -

Just a quick update. One of the items to give-a-way or auction off this year is a 3 night vacation package at the Universal Orlando resort. This package must be used during the "DIS-A-Palooza" event weekend 12/8 - 12/11.

This package for up to 4 people includes:
- 3 nights at a select Universal Orlando onsite resort (Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel, or the Royal Pacific Resort).
- 3 day park hopper passes for the Universal Orlando Resort
- Admission to the DIS-A-Palooza party to be held the evening of 12/10/2011. You can find out more information about the party here (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2658589). This special DIS event will be held inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at the Islands of Adventure theme park.

This package is very specific and must be used during the weekend specified above. Unfortunately, we can't make modfications to the package. This includes the dates.

As previously mentioned, we are not sure how we are giving this package away just yet. We'll have more details the closer we get to the meet. Stay Tuned!

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick update on auction items and prizes for the meet.

We have some pretty amazing prizes for this years meet including:
Several $25 & $50 Disney gift cards
A Dooney & Bourke wristlet
Gift baskets from various vendors like Dunkin Donuts
Different variations of mouse ears
Disney World pins & lanyards
Gasoline gift cards from various gas station retailers
& much, much more!

Auctions items include:
Darth Goofy big fig from Star Wars Weekends 2011
A princess line Dooney & Bourke handbag
A dining review with John & Kevin
Pieces from the Robert Olszewski collection
& much, much more!

All of the proceeds from the silent auction and the meet in general will go to the DIS's Power of 10 - Give Kids the World campaign.

We'll also have several kids activities including EPCOT Duffy Bears to decorate, kids Disney trivia and much more. kids will have their own section of the hall for their enjoyment.

Additionally, members of the Walt Disney Moms Panel will be present with special handouts. They can answer questions about their Moms Panel experience and the application and interview process.

This event is totally free. If you show up you'll have a chance to win some great prizes, plus have an afternoon filled with Disney fun, food & drink while getting to know several Disney fans. Everybody at the meet gets it too :). All we ask is you bring a food item to share with everyone at the meet.

If you are coming in from out of town and you have questions please let me know. We'll do whatever we can to make your trip as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.

I'm not far...about 3 hrs west in Central IL. I have wanted to attend this meet each year, but timing just never has worked out for me. I am going to try again this year...I'll let you know. It sounds like a great time.

A 7-night stay at the Sheraton Vistana Resort in 2012 (1 bedroom unit). If Pete is comfortable letting his family stay there so should you. :)

The unit will be located in the Cascades section of the resort. These units were recently remodeled and are simply beautiful!

We are 10 days from the Indianapolis Disney Meet to benefit the Power of 10 - Give Kids the World Challenge! With so many 10s I figured it's time to do my best David Letterman impersonation and compile the top 10 reasons why you should attend this year's Indianapolis Disney Meet.

10. 10 is a powerful number - Come to the meet and help us make 10 even more powerful. 10, 10, 10!
9. The DIS and the Walt Disney World Moms Panel share the same charitable mission - Give Kids the World.
8. Even though India"nap"olis is called "Nap" town we still have the time and energy to throw one heck of a Disney Meet.
7. We've teleported Dole Whip machines from Aloha Isle to the Indianapolis Disney Meet for your taste enjoyment.
6. Real Disney characters? Well not really, but cardboard cutouts are the next best thing.
5. Free swag, free chachkis, and free admission plus a shot at some fantastic prizes. Our meet makes the 'Price is Right' envious.
4. Bringing Central Florida to Central Indiana - Lots of Disney experiences, Disney fun, and Disney prizes without all the humidity. It's not "Animal Kingdom hot" here.
3. Shhhh! <whispers> there's a "silent" auction, but it can't be too "silent" or else no one will know about it. <continue normal speaking volume>
2. There will be a ton of food and drink at the meet, but belching is strictly prohibited. Please use the exit doors is you feel the urge.
And the number 1 reason why you should attend this year's Indianapolis Disney Meet....
1. The Indianapolis Disney Meet is centrally located for your travelling pleasure. Indy isn't called the "Crossroads of America" for nothin'.

Hi Everyone,

The meet is fast approaching, this Saturday Sept 3rd. A couple things I wanted to mention.

- Don't forget to bring a food item to share with other guest at the meet.
- Representatives from the Walt Disney World Moms Panel will be at the meet. Feel free to ask them any questions you may have about the Moms Panel registration process which is set to open in a few weeks.
- The meet will start promptly at 1:00PM. We will be awarding prizes at the top of every hour. The silent auction will start at 1:00PM and end at exactly 5:00PM. The meet will end at 6:00PM.

I've updated the attendee list and we now have over 100 people who've signed up. Attending the meet is free so if you are in the area and need a Disney fix please stop by. Please continue to spread the word. Looking forward to seeing everyone this Saturday. :wizard:

Kim, Anna, and I are so appreciative of everyone who came to the meet and supported Give Kids the World.

The meet has always been about getting together with Disney fans at least one time each year. It's kind of funny, but we talk on the boards several times a month, but when it comes to seeing and talking to each other face-to-face it rarely happens. When we plan family vacations to Disney parks we rarely see each other because our vacations don't match up. This is our chance to see each other, talk about what we have in common, and have a great time sharing our Disney passion.

Although we try and raise as much money for Give Kids the World as we can I don't want to overemphasize fundraising because it can sometimes take away from the fun we want to enjoy during the meet. This is why we don't charge anything for admission or for Dole Whip, etc. I hope you all feel we struck a good balance between fundraising and meet enjoyment.

Thanks to everyone (and I mean everyone) because without your support the meet wouldn't be what it is. It takes people to show up, bring their food, reach out to other people in the venue, and show their generosity. We all share in making the meet enjoyable. I personally saw a lot of generosity yesterday at the meet; the 50/50 raffle winner donated the money back to GKTW, guests who walked up to me or Kim and handed us a donation (including a family who will be visiting GKTW this October), the WDW Mom's Panel who graciously donated free handouts, and those guests who donated to other GKTW fundraising efforts. Thanks to those who helped run the face-painting, kids tattoo, and Indy Meet ornament table. We even had a special person who could write in Japanese volunteer to write names in Japanese on the back of the ornaments and Duffy Bears. I don't know about everyone else, but I ate so much Dole Whip yesterday I started turning yellow as the meet progressed. :) Again...We can't thank you enough for supporting the meet the way you did. It was very heart-warming. :wizard:

Here are the totals from the meet.

- Attended - 108
- Money raised for GKTW - $3,100. Some of this money was donated before the meet and for other GKTW fundraising efforts like the Muddy Buddy Challenge and Disneyland Tinkerbell Half Marathon.
- 25 Indy Meet ornaments built ;)
- 30 Duffy Bears created
- 192 Dole Whips consumed
- Approximately 55 Mickey Rice Krispy treats enjoyed.
- Several character photo ops

I thought the silent auction went over well. We had a lot of great stuff. All limited edition to unusual items. Some of them I wish I had. Darth Goofy kept looking back at me at my house for about a month. He was trying to use the force so I would keep him. :laughing:

Thanks! And yes, it is a lot of work that usually starts in January when we start putting feelers out for donations. The meet wouldn't be what it is without a bunch of people willing to put themselves out there to help. This includes the DIS because without it we wouldn't have the communication mechanism to get the word out. I try not to take anything for granted and realize anything anyone can do to help us is very appreciated no matter how small or big it maybe.

I travel that way a lot because I have to go through Richmond and Dayton in order to get to NE Ohio. I'm familiar with Hueston Woods. I've never been there, but I've talked to a lot of people who enjoy it. I was just up your way October 26th & 27th and drove right by the Mentor exit on I-90. My brother in Ashtabula celebrated a birthday and we went to visit him.

Richmond is on the Ohio, Indiana border. The meet is about an hour away from Richmond in Central Indiana. If you continue on I-70 for about 50 minutes you'll reach Indy. I hope you can make it next year. :)

I know there are a few others who come to the meet from NE Ohio. I'm always grateful and impressed of those who come from such a long way to attend the meet. About the best compliment I could ask for is from people who tell me they came from a place far away and it was well worth the trip. Not only do they travel from far away to enjoy the meet they embrace the Give Kids the World aspect. We really appreciate that.

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that this year's Indianapolis Disney Meet will be on Saturday, September 1st 2012. This will be the 5th year for the meet and we are planning some great stuff. Once again we will be donating the proceeds from the meet to the Power of 10 - Give Kids the World Challenge. Last year we were very excited to send a check to Give Kids the World for $3100.

For those coming in from out of town I will be providing a hotel option close to the meet site and blocking some rooms off for guests. I hope you can make it. If you have any questions about coming into Indianapolis please don't hesitate to ask. We hope you can make it this year.

We will be starting a new thread for the September 1st 2012 meet.

We stayed at Cambria Suites - Noblesville last time. Other DISers stayed there, too. If venue is the same as last time, we'll probably stay there this time.
