What was the first album you ever bought? (Or for those of the younger generation, which CD)? Mine was "News of the World" by Queen, which I bought in 6th grade. Still one of my faves. :D

In 1957, then I was 13 years old. Here are the songs, many classics from one of the originators of RnR...

1 Tutti Frutti
2 True Fine Mama
3 Can't Believe You Wanna Leave
4 Ready Teddy
5 Baby
6 Slippin' and Slidin'
7 Long Tall Sally
8 Miss Ann
9 Oh Why?
10 Rip It Up
11 Jenny, Jenny
12 She's Got It

And I still have it, 45 years later. :o

My first album that I remember was probably a Sesame Street one. The first one I was truelly excited about was Michael Jackson Thriller.

My favorite 8 track when I was little was Donne and Marie :)

Browneyes & Tkyes--I loved Thriller. It was HUGE when I was a junior in high school. In fact, our school had to ban all sequined gloves, 'cause we were all wearing them (or one of them) to class!

LOL! 1 white glove and the red zipper jacket was seen everywhere at my school at the time I bought that album. I never did get into the fashion of the music. But I listened to the Thriller album a lot.:) That was when Michael was semi-normal.

My sister and I had albums 'together' - Osmond Brothers, Jackson 5, etc..

BUT my first 'very own (i think it was the summer between 6th and 7th grade) album was - DON'T LAUGH - Peter Criss's solo album!!! I saved and saved for it, and for some reason - I loved KISS, and I loved Peter Criss.
Yes, I must be the only person on the face of the earth who will actually admit that they bought it, let alone STILL HAVE IT!!

I still get a little smile run across my face when I hear the song "Beth" on the OLDIES station.

It was either Deja Vu (Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young) or In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (Iron Butterfly). I was more into 45 RPM singles so it took me a while to make the leap to albums. I remember that my first 45 was Lady Godiva (Peter & Gordon).

Janis Joplin and Big Brother and the Holding Company's-Pearl. At least I think it was Big Brother. I had several of hers with all three of the band names. I also bought Steppinwolf's Born to Be Wild at about this same time.

I forgot to mention that I also used to purchase pre-recorded reel-to-reel tapes instead of albums. I own a copy of CNSY's 4 Way Street on tape. It wasn't until many years later that I bought a vinyl version. I think I have it on CD too. Please don't tell Sue. For some reason she gets upset when I buy the same movie or album over and over again each time the format changes. At least I don't own any 8-tracks. :)

I have my turntable (Garrard Zero 100) hooked up to my computer so I can convert albums to CD's. So far I've only done this with a couple albums for myself. I did manage to resurrect a Big Daddy Don Garlits album for a friend, complete with pop and click removal.

It held the longevity record on the Billboard Album Chart for quite a while until passed by Pink Floyd and "Dark Side Of The Moon"

Mine was "Sleeping Beauty" when I was in the second grade. My first pop star album was the Osmonds, the one where they were standing in a hole in a field. Mom gave it to me for my 10 birthday. I remember screaming bloody murder. So embarrassing now.
