Signups are officially closed. Please double check your groups and let the fun begin!
Those who are in the Disney group will make 10 sets of each letter.
Those who are in the Everyday group will make 8 sets of each letter.

6/1 ~PLEASE note: Due to some family issues that has come about tyniknate has asked that mommy2mrb take over this swap as well as the Character Swap. M2MRB will be posting a note later today with information and Pm'ing a new mailing address. Please hold off mailing until you hear from Lisa. Those who have already mailed your packages will be forwarded to Lisa so no worries... Danielle, let us know if you need us!

Signups will be on May 20th at 9 AM EST. Due date will be July 25th - with mailing no later than July 22nd. I will be going through the lists below and picking topics for each letter because I don't want there to be repeats of topics. If there is a specific topic you would like me to keep, please let me know asap.
Depending on the number of swappers we have, you may be asked to sign up for two or three letters. The number of sets you make will be determined at the close of signups. If we have 13 swappers, you will have two letters and make 13 sets, if we can only manage 9 swappers I will ask that you choose 3 letters and make 9 sets of each. Because this set only works if everyone follows through on the swap, I will only be accepting signups from those who I have swapped with before (in any swap I have been a member of, not just the one I hostessed). Sorry - no first timers in this swap.

This swap will be for ABC Page Kits which include: Title, 1 Photo Mat, 1 Journal Box, & 1 Element

Due date is by July 25th. This may be mailed together with the Character Swap if you are participating in that swap. I will mail both groups back in the same package if you are in both swaps, please make sure you allow for enough postage if you are in both swaps.

Check-in Dates:

Sign-ups: May 20th - 26th
Verify groups & PM Info: May 30th
Check in: June 20th last call for angels
Check in: July 11th with mailing status
Mail by: July 22nd

If you miss a check-in, I will PM/email you. If I do not hear from you 48 hours after that, your spots will be angeled. If you are going away over a check-in date, please let me know.

For the June 20th check-in, please be specific with your progress, and list the groups you still need to finish. I want to have a good sense that you will be able to finish your groups on time, or if we are going to need angels. If, at any time you are unable to complete this swap please just contact me. We are a very understanding group and are happy to help when others need it. It does, however, make me grumpy when those who have signed up do not complete a swap and do not have the common courtesy to let us know.

PACKAGING: Place your completed elements in a ziploc bag with your DISname, name and group letter. Do not address your items to a particular swapper as it makes it harder for me to sort. Your label should look like this:

Group A
Tyniknate
Danielle Seidel

Take all of your baggies and place them in a GALLON size or larger bag. The items you made may fit into something smaller, but what you receive in return may not.

MAILING: You may send to me by any method you choose unless you are mailing after July 22nd. Then, you must mail priority with delivery confirmation. I will be returning via online postage so please just make sure you have sent me a PM with your address. Online postage allows for delivery confirmation with all of the packages, without the extra cost of delivery confirmation. So please just see the rates below and make sure you are picking the return size appropriate for the amount of groups you are in. Also, if you are in the Character swap - you may mail them to me in the same box. Please consider using the large size for return if you are in both swaps. If I only need the medium size - I will return the extra money to you. Better to be safe than sorry. Medium box: Large box:

Please note:
* Each item must be embellished a minimum of two different ways. Embellished means using brads, eyelets, charms, flowers, stickles, ribbons, fibers, stickers, ink, chalk, sewing, embossing, or special paper.
* NO handwritten lettering on any items. Please use computer fonts, rub-ons, stickers or stamps.

REQUIRED:
TITLE - 1 per person. Can be normal 8X2 topper, individual letters with shadow at least 1 1/4" tall, letter on shapes. If you have another idea - please ask. Be sure to embellish two ways. I like this idea and June or September is good timing for me. I am flexible about elements.

Will this (the Disney group) be different from what we did this fall or basically the same?

I love the idea of an everyday ABC also!! Don't get me wrong...I love all the Disney stuff I get, but I need everyday stuff also! :thumbsup2

I was wondering the exact same thing. How will this be different or similar to what we just did last fall?

Also, I like the idea of 1 mat and 1 box instead of 2 mats.

Here are a couple thoughts:
D-Downtown Disney
S-So much shopping, so little time

Maybe if we made it more "themes" not characters and rides it would be different from the ABC swap a lot of us just finished? :confused3

I love, love, love the idea of an everyday ABC swap, that sounds fantastic!

LOVEMY3KIDDOS
04-08-2011, 04:41 PM
What about making a title be one of the elements? That would really set it apart from the one done last fall? And, I agree...it'll be good to come up with different themes. Can we try to not duplicate it at all? Or will that be too much?

tyniknate
04-09-2011, 01:44 PM
I really wanna make this general stuff and not specific to characters or rides. That way we can either use them for and an actual ABC style book, or they can be broken apart and used an individual pages to fill our books. Which swap is everyone referring to? I must have missed it completely.:confused3

UPDATE: I just went back and looked and I do remember this one now. I guess I had forgotten because it was at the same time as my dad having all those surgeries. DUH! Well, knowing that we just had one - does anyone want to still do this? You all are still probably burnt out from the last one. If you are interrested - I'd love to still hostess. I really do not want to have specific characters or rides/events in this one. Was thinking of just more general Disney and everyday life topics. Should we see what we can put together for topics, or do you wanna wait until Sept? I'm good with it either way.

If we do this I definitely would like to have a title instead of just a single 4" letter - one mat - one journal box and one single element. All you would have to do then is print your pics and put everything onto a paper. Easy peazy lemon squeezy!

wdwmickey

That sounds great to me.....let's see what everyone else says :)

JJ&JHsmom
04-09-2011, 03:26 PM
I like the idea of not ride or character specific. I also like the idea of an everday one too.

LOVEMY3KIDDOS
04-09-2011, 03:54 PM
I'd like an everyday one for sure!! And, for Disney, what about a "catch phrase" one? That would not necessarily be ride / character specific. Like. for B "Bunch of Characters" or for S "Say Cheese" or for T "The Gang"...you get the idea!! That totally generalizes it.

Oh, and I'd rather do it for June since there are not many in there and the summer is pretty free for me!! Just my two cents!!

tyniknate
04-09-2011, 05:39 PM
I would prefer June also. And as for the catch phrases - that's exactly what I was looking for. Maybe we can all brainstorm and set them ahead of time, or do you wanna just do them at sign-ups? If we do them ahead of time we can all give our ideas and agree on what the alphabet will be. How does that sound? If you like it - Im taking all ideas starting now....... Get your thinking caps on. We need a whole alphabet for both the Disney swap and the everyday swap. :yay::yay::yay:
Does everyone like the idea of the title, one mat, one journal box and one element?

Was also thinking - character swap signups in May and ABC in June - with a due date the same? Would save everyone on some postage. We could set a due date of a little longer than we normally would to allow everyone to be finished. Or would you prefer due dates a couple weeks apart?

We need either 9 or 13 swappers for this one to work.

JJ&JHsmom
04-09-2011, 06:53 PM
M - Making memories Could work for Disney or everyday.

Q - Quiet time Sleeping children or Husbands or children reading.

L- Life's special moments

G - Getting Ready, for a trip or school dance or?

MazdaUK
04-10-2011, 09:57 AM
Hmmmmmmm...an every day ABC - that would work for me:thumbsup2 As long as it was fairly gender neutral (and din't have too many holidays we don't have....) Are there enough "general vacation" things which have not already been taken up by other swaps, for example?

My only tip from last time would be to make it experienced swappers only - once you start cutting 13 of something you realise its a big ask compared with 4-6;) And if you're the hostess you want to make sure everyone packs it properly - one big bag full of 26 sets of elements would NOT be fun to sort:rolleyes1

wdwmickey
04-11-2011, 04:26 PM
Here are a few possibilities for everyday:

A--awesome or amazing

D--Daddy; dinner
F--family; father
I--ice cream
M--Mommy; mother; momma; music
O--(great) outdoors
P--piano; popcorn
Q--questions
Y--yummy

Glad so many are already ready to join us!

Here is what I think I will do for the ABC and character swaps.

I'm planning on signups for May 2nd for the Character Swap. That will give everyone a month to get started on this one before I hold signups for the ABC swap.

Planning to hold signups for ABC swap June 6th.

Think I will have the due date for these for July 25th - that way everyone who is in both groups can just mail these together. Do you think this is enough time? We can always start with this date and adjust as necessary.
I'm so excited for both of these swaps - can't wait to get started!

LOVEMY3KIDDOS
04-15-2011, 07:49 AM
Those dates sound ok for now. May and June are really light on the calendar, so that will help. Just a word of advise....the other ABC swap (since these are kits) took quite a awhile. But, like I said with so few others at the same time, it should work out ok!! Hope we get enough people! Excited for both the Disney and Everyday!

I've got some time off end May (half term is Witsun week) so it would be good for me if the sing-ups for the ABC could be moved to say 20 May (or thereabouts), so they are closed by 28 May and I have most of the week to get started:thumbsup2 This will reduce the risk of late sends (they do take a LOT longer than a regular swap - just think of the time to cut and stick a set of title letters 13 times:rolleyes1 - and I have to mail 2 weeks before everyone else:scared1:). Just my thoughts!

MazdaUK

I think it would be a bit of a big ask for kiddos - I know it was always like pulling teeth getting DS to get on and finish his (plus my fear about them being good enough made me anxious!).

Can we kinda get an idea from everyone if they intend to join? I don't want to get part way through signups and have only 6 swappers - then everyone would have to take 4 or more groups and that just is too big a commitment to ask of everyone. So, who all is interrested? Disney or Everyday?

Here's who we have kinda heard from: are we still all interrested?
Bigsis1970
JJ&JH
LM3K
WDWMickey
MazdaUK
Princess Jayne
Reddy
Tyniknate
Msscrappyr
Mcever4

Also, do we want to leave options for some of the letters and you choose at signups, or narrow it down to just one topic per letter? Are there any there that will absolutely not be able to be used by anyone? I'm going back to remove the daddy and me one. Any else?

Princess Jayne
05-06-2011, 04:31 PM
I'm still interested - it would be the disney group that I would be interested in. As for narrowing it down to one option or leaving options - i'm not bothered - any of the disney options would be fine that are listed for me. The only issue that I might have will be time - i'll need to post about a month before the deadline at least but if i can get a good start on the character swap the next couple of weekends then there's no reason why i'll have an issue doing this one as well.

wdwmickey
05-06-2011, 04:32 PM

Just a note...if we only had 6 swappers, we would have to do say 4 letters...that would be 24 sets total. If we had 13 swappers, we would do 2 letters but 26 sets. So, it is the same no matter what. It just sounds worse doing more letters. But, the number of sets drops.

I don't mind fewer sets of more letters - bit more interesting;) I'd be in for the everyday, quite happy to have choices for letters in case I get stuck for inspiration:upsidedow

I wouldn't be in for Disney as no trips planned and a drawerful of stuff waiting to be used

Sorry I've been MIA the last two days. My kids opened an email that said "Your UPS Delivery is on its way". Contained a virus that shut down my laptop, so no computer at home at the minute. It goes in this morning for some work, so it will hopefully be back in a couple days. Until then, I will be checking in during the day at work.

Hi, and welcome! We are always happy to have new talent with us.

Yeah...we are just getting started with the girls. They have been together since September...pretty long for their age I guess. They are only Freshmen, so we are taking baby steps. We have a very open line of communication with them and her parents. I talk to her a lot myself. I want to know her. She is a nice girl, I just feel like he is not spending nearly as much time with his friends as he used to. But, controlling....that's hard to watch as a parent. There is only so much you can get involved before they get mad. Every step in life is a new challenge!! I want things easy!

We didn't even go on a honeymoon because we already had our oldest (he was 2) and I couldn't stand to be away from him that long! Danielle--I have a question. I was just re-reading the requirements and wamt to make sure I'm not confusing myself (it happens a lot). We are making a title instead of a 4inch letter correct? No 4 inch letters as an element? Just want to verify

For instance could I make a decorated 2 inch letter as the first letter in my title (or a welded & shadowed title), journal box, photo mat, and a paper piecing. Is that sort of what we're going for?

LOVEMY3KIDDOS
05-20-2011, 09:06 AM
I have a question also...for the embellishing two ways...some elements are hard to embellish two ways...like the paper clips and even sometimes the shapes. Do you have any suggestions as to how to handle that? I don't want them to be too over-done.

tyniknate
05-20-2011, 09:11 AM
No 4" letters for this one. I think we are looking for a full title. Welded letters, traditional title on an appropriately sized background, computer printed title, something like that. If you have an idea - let us know. We are open for suggestions.

The swaps usually say embellished at least once. I copied the instructions for this one from an old swap and it was listed as two ways. If you are totally happy with a piece and it would look weird with a second embellishment, I'm OK with that. I just don't want a single piece of paper with a sticker on. Do you know what I mean? You can use special paper, ink, stickles, etc. The kind of stuff that most of us do anyway. Totally good with your judgment.

I hope this works:

Slide Mounts –You can alter or embellish an actual slide mount or create your own out of cardstock. The mounts are available in a variety of colors and shapes, or Sizzix makes a die with 4 shapes on it. Usually 2 per person.

B&MB's class:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1505431

You can also go back to the sticky on the top of the swaps thread and find the slidemount swap that was done in September of last year. Lots of really nice examples on there.

We would love to have you join us. Due date isn't until the end of July, since we will need some time to put these together. It a lot of pieces, but you end up with an entire book almost finished for you. All you need is the book, background paper and pictures. Everything else is finished and ready to be put on the page. A great way to finish a book in just one afternoon.

Cassey - hope the rain holds off for you. I will trade you kids, but I don't think you will be any happier with mine. DS12 says DS16 picks on him too much. DS16 doesn't want to be bothered by anyone. Then DS6 gets into the mess because no one wants to play with him. Guess that's what I get for spacing them out over 10 years. I think if I had it to do over again I would have had them much closer together because at least then they would have had something in common.

Sun is out for now, first time in days. Forecast is rain later but who knows...
Your 2 oldest sound like my 2. DD is going back and forth being upset the DS is leaving in 4 months and wishing him gone because he is mean to her. Some days I wonder why I wanted children and other days I am so proud of both of them. I wish there were more proud days right now but unfortunately I end up shaking my head at them and wondering what I did wrong. I just keep thinking this shall pass and we will all be a happy family after the teenager wears off!! Time to get DS ready for prom. I will check back later.

I may get started on some things for this swap this weekend, but had a question for everyone. I just got an adorable stamp for framing pictures and was wondering if anyone had issues with a photo mat being only about 3 1/2 by 3 1/2, or if you would rather it only work for a 4 X 6 photo. If no one minds, I will make several mats instead fof just the required one. Just post and let me know your thoughts!

I think that stamp would be fantastic for your journal boxes:) I personally print most of my pictures at 4 x 6 or larger.

mommy2mrb
05-21-2011, 04:49 PM
most of my photos are 4 x6 also , agree that they would work with the journal box sizes!

JJ&JHsmom

I print mostly 4 by 6 photos so would prefer mats that size.

Hey Gals!

I have been looking over things and I will have a busy month or so ahead of me...I am going to have to pull myself out of this one. :guilty: Between Jacka's birthday and a couple of conferences and Father's Day...it is going to be a busy summer. Hopefully I can join in another that is a little less time consuming. :flower3:

Danielle, I was going to choose Q for Quick Bite, but I think it is already taken. Also, it looks like X is taken also, but it may be for a different group. Let me know if I need to take one of these! I am getting started on the ones I have for sure tomorrow and will mail everything for both swaps together. Am I correct in we make 5 sets still?

Robin

tyniknate
05-24-2011, 07:42 AM
Robin - The letter X was open - so I've put you down for that one.

This swap works a little differently than the character swap. Because everyone needs to receive a complete alphabet and we have 10 swappers, you will need to make 10 sets for each letter in the Disney group. The sets include title, 1 mat, 1 journal box and 1 element.
There are 26 letters in the alphabet + open page + close page + 2 extra sets = 30 total groups. That means each swapper will make 10 sets of each of their letters. Am I making any sense?

Those who are in the Everyday group will make 8 sets since there are 8 swappers. I will take care of the 2 leftover letters in this one since 8 swappers times 3 letters each only comes to 24. So you would make 8 total sets of each letter for this one.

Sorry if I've totally confused you. Any more questions - ask away.

wdwmickey

Wanna start brainstorming mine too? My brain is malfunctioning this week :upsidedow

:lmao: I'll try to help!

here's what I'm thinking of for mine:
water - pool or beach theme

happy days, thinking of doing smiley faces??? think that would work??

victory, :confused3 assume most would use as sports themed?? but not all have sports photos....have to look through my carts to see what I have!

danielle,
letter Z, animals
letter O, how about a garden theme
letter E, no idea, sorry
letter A, how about star theme

LOVEMY3KIDDOS
05-24-2011, 12:26 PM
My groups look good! We have each other's info...so we are good to go!

Here's my plan:

G - Goofin Around - figured I'd do a Donald Duck theme? LOL Just kidding! In one of those moods I guess??!! Obviously a Goofy theme!!

O - Ohana Means Family - doing a general tropical feel that can be used for the meals or Poly pix in general.

Close - See Ya Real Soon - thinking something with the Mickey hands like they do in MK as you leave at the end of the night??

B - Best Buds - still thinking....want to try to make it general enough that it can be used for girls and/ or boys

G - Good Times - thinking something fairly basic again...but maybe a "tie-dye" type color scheme & hippie sort-of font...give it that 70's feel?

L - Love - probably going reds, pinks, hearts and roses

wdwmickey
05-24-2011, 01:38 PM
Our groups are good :)

My thoughts:

Disney--

"E"nchanted--general Fantasyland-ish, princess/prince, sparkles & bling

"T"riple Mountain Whammy--paper piecing or die cuts of the mountians; mix of space, water & wilderness paper

"Pick 3A"--mix of red, yellow, black & white patterned papers

Everyday--

"D"ancing in the rain--raindrop paper, paper piecing dancers; should be able to use for rainy day or dancing

"M"aking memories--???

"N"o place like home--red sparkly shoes on the title ;) Maybe home imrovement type paper? Journal box in the shape of a house

"P"icture perfect--general colors that could be used with "formal"/professional pics, maybe camera paper piecing.

I love the ideas posted so far :)

My groups are great- I'm pretty sure you have my info from the character swap

I'm thinking...
Disney
K-just a KID@heart....kid in big fun letters and a heart shape instead of word
L- Let the Memories Begin-? standard black, red, yellow
P- Poncho weather- not sure, but definitely using some bright yellow, maybe the sun peeking out behind the clouds

Everyday
F-Family- I was thinking a bigger mat, like for a 5x7 pic?
T-Treats- cupcakes, cookies
U- Umbrellas- not sure

05-24-2011, 03:11 PM

Princess Jayne
05-24-2011, 03:12 PM
D - Dreams Come True - I'm thinking shimmery bluey theme, maybe castle colours
R- Rumbly Tumbly - Pooh bear theme with honey/bees etc
U- Unbelievable - i have no idea yet - seen some black/stary paper which might look cool!

My groups look great!

For "H"appiest Place on Earth- I was thinking Disney red, yellow, black white.. maybe an MK theme though.. not totally sure yet.

"W"alking Right Down the Middle of Main Street U.S.A.- I was thinking red, white, blue, and the lyric as one of my elements.

"Z"ip-a-dee-doo-dah- I was going to go with a lyric as an element, as I was thinking blues and greens.

Snuggle - I thought I'd do the s out of felt and maybe add felt hands (mitt shapes probably) - is that OK? (And how do you stick felt  Pop dots or do i have to sew?)

eXtreme fun - I was going to go for really bright papers (stripes, spots etc.) unless people prefer grungy-looking (to signify little darlings getting muddy and ripped but having a great time :rolleyes3)

hope you like!

Checking in for myself and Rachel. This is next on our list after we finish the EPCOT swap this weekend (we'll be working on this and the character swap at the same time ;)). We're all sketched and we've pulled our papers and embellishments. Since we have nearly 5 weeks until we need to mail I'm sure we'll be on time :)

I've got a couple more Pooh sets to finish and then my other two letters in the disney group. I'm going to try and have them done by the end of the month to give the post plenty of time to get them to you.

Jayne, love your set!

I have finished the Q set for everyday, I have planned out all letters but the E vor everyday, still working on an idea. I plan to have these done and mailed before I leave for vacation on July 15. I will post photos later of the Q set. Off to dance recital.
