I am booking another trip and really cannot live without a porthole. I get too caustrophobic w/o one. I tried searching the threads, but can't find the answer. What are the secret porthole rooms on the Magic? I am now in a cat 9, deck 2 room, but would like to go a little higher with our friends who have booked an inside room on deck 6 or 7 (can't remember). Do I have to request the room number when I call reservations or do I ask for the "secret" porthole cabin? Any and all help will be very appreciated.

5022, 5024 (adjoining), 5522, 5524 (adjoining), 5020 & 5520 - I think that's all of them - same on both ships.

Yes those are the only 6 rooms. When you first call if they are not available, call again in a few months. There wasnt one open when we first booked but 5520 became open a few months later.

You definitely have to ask for them by the room number. it is not uncommon for DCL reps. to even deny that these rooms have portholes! But don't worry, I can guarantee that they do. I have pics. on my website at www.***************** so you can choose your view, but you might want to avoid the adjoiners because they can be quite noisy depending on who is next door.

Do these room 'move' a lot with the waves? This past cruise (Western 9/14 seven day) we had one bad weather night and I didn't feel so good when I was in Animator's, but in my room (at mid ship) it wasn't too bad.
I had thought about trying for one of these rooms for my family for our next cruise but they were not available for the date I book. BUT after that bad weather night, I thought maybe I should stay mid ship. Perhaps it depends on how much you are effected by the movement.

When you call to request one, if not available at current time ask to be placed on a wait list for one. They usually have a waiting list for these rooms. They are becoming more popular then stateroom 8030 and 8530.
Sorry I'm not sure about the amount of motion in these rooms. I'll let you know after Oct 26,. I have 5524 booked for then.
