We survived Spring Break in Florida, there were crowds, there were fears, many tears, and of course some fun and laughter.

We were on vacation from March 11-19 which included our travel time, 4 days in the parks, not the trip we planned but we had a good time.

So first a little background:

I'm Jessica, the Disney obsessed mother, and planner/organizer of this recent trip. Got to celebrate my birthday on this trip:banana: And recently became a stay at home mommy and couldn't be happier than to just get to spend extra time with my kids now. It was a hard decision to make, but we feel I really need to be home for at least the next year and a half.

Next is my DH, not such a huge Disney person, but enjoys it, took me to WDW for our honeymoon, and loved getting to experience it with our boys for the first time. He is a teacher so it was either spring break or summer and we weren't ready to brave the heat of summer in florida yet.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/IMG_0010.jpg

Next is Jack, who just turned 6 but was 5 on the trip, he has high functioning autism and is the reason for my overly obsessed planning. The trip was also planned to "celebrate" his birthday, but I'll leave the explanation on that for the TR
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/stlouisspringbreak069.jpg

And our baby who turned 3 recently, Joey. He is a ball of fun, but has recently been having some issues medically and behaviorally that prompted our decision for me to stay home for awhile.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/R1-12A.jpg

But that wasn't the end of our whole traveling party, we had some others join in with us:
My sister, BIL, and niece joined us, they reside in NV. My niece is my god daughter and she also got to experience her birthday in Walt Disney World, she was born on St. Patricks Day. She just turned 3.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture061.jpg

And my parents joined us. My Dad is retired military and after our trip my Mom has decided she would like to look into seasonal work at WDW.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture431.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Picture457.jpg

And lastly my great aunt Bea, she is my Grandmas older sister, and has lived with my parents and been a part of our family since my brother was a baby so about 20-25 yrs.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011037.jpg

These were the best pictures I had of everyone for now, our PP should arrive this week and I'll post a big group shot...

Up next everyones travel experiences getting to Florida

Friday March 11, 2011

The morning began pretty typically... my dh got up got ready for work and left, I got Jack dressed and took him to school.

I didn’t end up working but went to get coffee with a co-worker and pick up my last check. Then I went home to frantically finish packing and load the car, after a trip to the bank of course (had to deposit that check for spending money).
Joey just relaxed all day.
After school my dh dropped his car off at co-workers house, and got last minute school grading done so he didn't come home to any work after our trip.

In the mad dash to get Jack to school on time and forgot to take the last Mickey head down from our countdown calendar so I took it with me in the car to pick him up from school.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011001.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011002.jpg

I had picked them up some Phineas and Ferb dry erase boards from Target awhile back and so this was their first surprise before we got on our way.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011004.jpg
Joey was asleep already as you can see, I purposely didn't let him nap today.

We left 1 hr and 30 min later than planned putting us on the road at 5 pm central. The drive was long, the boys were tired, Joey kept saying he wanted to go home. Being that we were in the season of Lent, we were thinking of where we could stop for dinner to accommodate everyone’s needs. Jack decided on Burger King, which was really not one of the choices, but we wanted to keep him happy. So I think it was about 7 pm we stopped and had fish fillet sandwiches. Jack had fries and Mac n cheese (yes he broke his diet-for those of you that don't know our family story, Jack was on a gluten free and casein free diet all year). So we just monitored him all night and he seemed ok, we arrived at our Ramada Inn room at 11pm and everyone was back to sleep by midnight.

We passed this and had to take a picture
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011006.jpg

We stayed in a Ramada somewhere in Alabama and this is what Jack got into
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011007.jpg

There were arcade games right outside the door to our room and the boys couldn't wait to get out and play
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011009.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011012.jpg

Saturday March 12, 2011

Joey and Jessica got an early start and headed to breakfast in the hotel at 6:40 am, where Joey ate everything in sight: waffles, cereal, bagel, orange juice, and an apple. Jack once again broke his diet when my husband took him to breakfast while Joey and I got dressed (yes we went to breakfast in our pj’s) and packed up our bags again. Jack had a waffle. We were starting to get a little nervous about what kind of stomach issues would be ahead of us, but knowing we were closing in on a year, we hoped his stomach issues would be over.

The drive was very long, but the boys did VERY well, neither of us wanted to say anything in fear we might jinx something. But they had dry erase markers and boards and each had a portable dvd player to entertain them, plus all their little super hero toys.

We stopped at a Pilot to fill up and there was a subway there, which we had both been craving the day before so we ate lunch at our gas stop. The boys each had pizza.

That was suppose to be the last stop before arriving at the house and I think we were just past the Florida state line.

up next the rest of our travel into Florida and where we stayed....

Saturday March 12, 2011 cont.

We arrived to the house in Florida at 7:15 pm where Grandma had dinner waiting for us, chicken patties and fries. Jack had taquitos which are part of his special diet food. The house was amazing, we explored our surroundings, unpacked, watched t.v. , and played.

Those are all the pictures I got, it was a REALLY nice home to stay in, my DH said it was a vacation all on it's own, but more on that in the end, when we talk about what we thought about staying off property.

Everyone went for a swim except Joey and Mommy (and Aunt Bea), Joey said he was not going in the pool and so Mommy couldn’t go either. I don't know where he got the idea but he thinks there are sharks in water, even pools.

Originally Sunday was to be an AK day, but in knowing how our children are and with the time change we decided to have a non park day.
Knowing we could sleep in Sunday was nice, especially with daylight savings time.

Up next, just cause we aren't going to a disney park doesn't mean we can't enjoy a visit to....

We were very pleastantly surprised with how well they did, especially considering previous shorter road trips we had taken before. Doesn't mean we didn't hear Joey every so often "I wanna go home"

Saw you started your TR looking fw to reading along and hearing all about it!

I don't think I saw your big Mickey Head countdown w/ the park pixs on it that is great I may have to borrow that idea :)

Hey julie, :welcome: and thanks for joining.

The Mickey Head countdown was a lot of work, but for a first trip well worth it, and I think it helped Jack get an idea of what to expect on the trip. I had photos of all the things we had hoped to accomplish and then mickey heads covering them that read: ____days until we _______.
If we were going to stay off property we knew we still wanted a disney themed home and I found it on another TR

It was a constant conversation in my head the whole trip about staying off property vs on property. My previous two trips to this were on property but never with kids, and the decision to stay off property this trip was all due to the special dietary needs my ds had and a place to get him away from everything for his meltdowns

All caught up... I'm glad you made it through the drive but I'm really scared about Jack breaking his diet. :scared1: I hope it all worked out OK but whenever Alex broke his diet (he was gfcf for three years and only went off the diet with the help of prescription digestive enzymes) we really paid the price... major behavioral breakdowns!

The rental house looks great - can't wait to hear what you thought about staying off-site!

thanks, you have no idea, that was my first fear of the trip, but I'll let you know he is still off the diet, doesn't mean we didn't have any issues, but he has already been on supplements, doesn't mean he won't go back on the diet down the road, but for now he is ok

we loved the house, especially the boys and my DH, but we did run into the same issues you did with regards to transportation

now on to Sunday March 13, 2011
originally this was suppose to be an AK day followed by a big family dinner at Chef Mickey's

Well once I realized the crowd ratings for the week, and the time change, and how my children would be after a long drive, those plans were a complete wash and instead we did:

Jack and John slept in, Joey and I slept in too, but not that late. My parents went to the airport early to get my sister and her family. Joey was still sleeping when they arrived, I was up making coffee and setting up bags from Tinkerbelle and Peter Pan. The kids all got little notebooks (princess and Buzz) and Mickey and/or Minnie pens, with light up bracelets.
After everyone had breakfast, the ladies went to Walmart to get supplies for the week. When we got home, everyone had sandwiches and a mix of things for lunch.
Joeys fear is sharks in water, why he thinks there are sharks in a pool, I don't know, but that is his story. So...

Mommy tricked Joey into his bathing suit and everyone went outside so he couldn’t stay in the house, he said he didn’t want to go in the pool. I said lets just get our feet wet. He didn’t even want to do that, but I picked him up and got his feet wet, then slowly and slowly he eventually got into the pool and LOVED it. He didn’t want to get out when it was time to go.

Moving right along.... now that my photopass cd arrived I'm anxious to get to our park days, and I have A LOT of pictures to share ;)

Sunday March 13, 2011 continued....

We had plans to explore Fort Wilderness and go on pony rides, something Joey had been waiting for and talking about all year.
This was our first time entering WDW property so a picture was in order:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011051.jpg

When we arrived we ended up needing to park at the Wilderness Lodge and caught a bus over to the Campsites. Jack was a little anxious while waiting on the bus but he had his dry erase board to entertain him:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011055.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011056.jpg
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011058.jpg

The pony rides were right next to the bus stop so we headed over.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011060.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011061.jpg

So who decided to ride the ponies????

Everyone chickened out except for Jack. This was surprising behavior from Jack but not unexpected, he had recently experienced a pony ride on a field trip with school. If he hadn't done the field trip I'm 99% sure he wouldn't have done it.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011064.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011065.jpg

Next we walked around to check out the area, we wanted to do a wagon ride but knew they didn’t start until after dinner, and the kids saw the playground so we headed over there:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011067.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011068.jpg
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011069.jpg

then we went down to the marina to see the ducks, and then we went to the trading post where we purchased our souvenir penny holder.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011072.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011075.jpg

While at the Marina we decided we would take the boat back to the lodge instead of the bus, for a change of pace and scenery. My parents would like to bring their RV down to WDW sometime.

The boat ride was uneventful but leading up to the boat ride was slightly exciting only because Jack was tired and upset that there wasn’t a boat right there waiting for him, and he tried to climb past the roped off area and we had to hold him back and keep him from kicking anyone. Once he got on the boat he was so happy and really enjoyed the ride. I let him hold the camera and he took pictures of everything and I do mean everything I ended up deleting something like 50 pictures.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/03-13-11_1623.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011076.jpg
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011079.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011082.jpg
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011083.jpg

Once we arrived at the lodge my Aunt was out of breath and since she hadn’t brought her walker or wheel chair we had several stops before getting back to the cars, which was fine with us because we wanted to explore. We explored a little and took some pictures. My husband thought it was a cool resort and asked about staying there sometime in the future. Sure honey ;-) He also liked the looks of Whispering Café, which was in our plans originally but with all our plan changes all the ADR’s got cancelled.

Jack was a little flustered at this point and ready to get back to the house, and he was wanting to rip off that nose that he is holding onto. It made for a cute picture.

Once we arrived home, we had burgers and fries, and got park bags packed for the next day.

We would like to one day stay in the cabins at Fort Wilderness and of course would also enjoy a stay at the Wilderness Lodge. We really enjoyed our day exploring.

Yay on not going to the parks and enjoying the pool - looks like you all had fun! :cool1:

Looking forward to hearing if the FW trip was successful :)

Thanks, For me it was a hard decision as I'm all about being immersed in Disney, but this trip was for the boys, and I was fortunate to get my Disney fix in January which allowed me to really focus on my kids needs this trip.

The boys LOVED the pool, it was nice having our very own pool for the week.

I love the photopass picture - I love them all - I saw them on facebook. ;)

I think you made a good choice to stay out of the parks that day. I'm glad you got Joey to enjoy the pool.

Can't wait to hear about the horses.

Thanks Amy, I'm so glad we decided to get a photopass, our pictures turned out pretty good.

It was a smart choice not doing a park that first day I think, and my DH thinks it will be necessary every trip, so we'll be planning a non park day in to start every trip:thumbsup2

Hi Jess,
Loving the TR... our families have SO many similarities.. My son Jake (4) is on the spectrum... My son Joseph (2)seems to have a little behavioral issue that we are working thru... & my family is JT (all j's too), my name is Jessica LOL and I am a sahm too! :goodvibes

We are planning a trip in Oct w/ the kids & I like hearing what works w/ families. I love everything that I am reading. Your pictures are great & its wonderful you got to experience this all w/ your family! :goodvibes

WL is a wonderful resort, huh? we enjoyed looking around there too....even though it has DVC villas...that is probably the one place we wouldn't stay not becuase there is anything wrong w/ it...but too similar to Wisconsin and the waterpark/resort we frequent when we go to the Dells...Kathy's family stayed there and I think they all enjoyed it :goodvibes

:welcome: I can not believe the similarities, that is so crazy. Right down to names. Are you writing a PTR Jessica? I was also looking into an Oct trip, but my DH won't let me go alone with the kids due to some of the issues we had on this past trip. My 3 yo is Joseph, but we call him Joey. And Jake, so close to Jack, lol. I hope my TR will help you with planning your trip, but there are a bunch of moms that have taken several more trips than me and could help you too. One lesson I learned will be revealed on day 3 in the parks, but I have to wait until I share the first two days ;)

Oh I really enjoyed the Fort too. My DH and I are very different in that he has never ever gone camping:scared1: not even as a kid, so he needs the comfort of a bathroom/showers/etc. in the room. I would love to stay at the Fort and let me kids experience "camping out" with the campfire, fishing, etc that is offered there.

He said he would love to stay at WL, then I told him how much it cost :rotfl2: So if we can get a good PIN he said maybe in 2013

That stinks Bekah was too big/old. They have big horse rides too, but they are like on the trails I think and it costs significantly more

It sounds like so much fun. My kids recently got to experience roasting marshmallows. They were both scared. Jack eventually warmed up to the idea but kept touching the logs with his marshmallow and then it burning. so we're going to need some practice ;)

Sunday evening I sat in front of my computer frantic because park hours for the week were changing, MK didn't even have hours displayed on the website and I knew the crowd levels were high. So I went back to touringplans and re planned our week which had us visiting DHS on our first park day...

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011095.jpg

We arrived (in two seperate vehicles), all met up and headed to bag check where the line wasn't too bad and then headed to guest services to get special buttons and Jack’s GAC. I have failed to mention in the beginning of this TR that everyone was celebrating a first visit except my dh and I. Also we had 4 March birthdays in our party (two of which were happening this week, this actual day being my birthday, and my sister and bil celebrating an anniversary).

The opening ceremony began as we were getting through bag check, well I’m assuming that is what it was, we didn’t see it, but it got very loud and Jack wanted his head phones already. I'm already thinking uh oh, as I wasn't planning on getting them out until much later.

So we made our way over to guest services and I asked for my birthday button, birthday button for Jack (remember this for later) and two first visit buttons for the boys. I wasn’t sure if I was in the right place for the GAC, so I asked and she said yes, I was prepared for questions and had a letter from Jacks pediatrician, but didn’t need anything. Jack had his head phones on and proceeded to lick the wall next to the window (gross I know, I was freaking out, and my husband had to grab him), the lady just handed over a GAC without asking me anything.:confused3

We also had left our double stroller at the rental house due to the fact that we had to pump air in the tires Sunday night. So we were heading into the park without a stroller… I debated getting a Disney one but my DH said it wasn't necessary and he would carry Joey (also remember this).

First stop TSM, it was a mad dash to the back of the park, and trying to keep a party of 10 together proved to be more challenging than we thought.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/03-14-11_1018.jpg

We got in the line that we saw only to find out ten minutes later that we were in the fast pass line (to get fast passes not use them, which I could've gone in the fp line with Jacks GAC, but wanting the 10 of us to start the morning together each day I didn't) , so we switched lines and waited about 30 minutes I think.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011096.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011098.jpg

The boys loved the que, and Jack kept busy by snapping pictures of everything, if he didn’t have the camera I think he would have been less happy. Joey was scared of the potato head, but we passed by quickly and he was fine.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011103.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011104.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011106.jpg

We were off to a great start, then mommy had to run to make the first bathroom break of the day.

I made it back and we were still waiting for the rest of our party to get off the ride. They split our party when we got to the stairs/ so my aunt, Mom, sister, and bil went with the wheelchair to an alternate route.

up next our first character meet....more tears and fears coming up...

Thanks, yeah I wouldn't have noticed that nightlight either, it right when you walk in the standby entrance. He was just looking up, down, and all around and snapping away. He really had like 100 pictures from the line

I know, I had to include the licking story because, well it's a part of him. I was mortified at the time, but now we can laugh about it. It's not something he does often, it's a behavior that only comes out when he is overly excited/stimulated.

Keeping that many people together is a job! Wow you got lucky they asked my DS for a letter from her Pediatrician, which luckly she had brought. My DN is autistic and when he first went to WDW there was no way he could stand in line. We ended up in the regular line and they went to the FP line. They would have to wait for us but it gave him time to gather his thoughts.:)

Yes I had done my research and was so surprised when she asked me nothing, because I had the letter from pediatrician, and was geared up to answer questions and took him with me too because I had heard that they also want to see the child and maybe ask them a question or two also. yes waiting in the long lines can be quite hard on a person on the spectrum. glad your family had a plan for your DN, hope he had an enjoyable trip

Across to meet Woody and Buzz of course :)

Once we go to Woody and Buzz Joey started screaming and crying, Jack handed them his book to get signed but didn’t want to stand and take a picture. I was a little disappointed cause I was waiting for the PP photographer to take some pictures but he just stood there, luckily my husband at least got one shot with his phone, but we were out of there quickly and so there were the beginning of the TEARS on our vacation.

We then headed back to the bath room for everyone else to make their first stop.

up next standing around and confusion with a change of plans but first I'll leave you with a bonus picture that Jack did cooperate for

So we left off at the bathroom over by the backlot tour...

Next on our to do list was playhouse Disney which is now called Disney Junior Live on Stage but since we were right there, we all got on the backlot tour. Joey already wanted to go home at this point. Having done the backlot tour on our honeymoon we put the boys headphones on and handed them a snack
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011160.jpg

Jack sat on the floor and hid next to my legs, and they were less than excited about watching the show.

In the dump shop it was interesting the things he took pictures of:

As we exited the ride, we saw Mike and Sully doing photos, we asked the kids if they wanted to stop and see the characters and we got a unanimous NO. I quickly came to realize that I wasn’t going to be getting any pictures of the boys with characters on this trip and also decided to cancel our good-bye breakfast I had scheduled on Friday which was a consolation for having canceled Chef Mickey and Crystal Palace due to all the schedule changes.

After the backlot tour we made our way over to Disney Junior Live on stage, Jack was having a hard time standing in line and John ended up holding him for part of the wait. Once inside and the show began I think it was one of the highlights of the day. Jack ended up in my lap for the last part of the show and neither of my boys got up to dance or anything, but they really enjoyed watching everyone else clap, dance, and jump around.

We decided to skip animation studios at this point and we made our way over to ABC commissary for lunch, I got the Asian salad, Joey got nuggets, Jack said he didn’t want anything but water, and my husband got the burger or chicken I can’t remember. I didn’t take pictures and I think we had almost one of each thing on the menu between the 10 of us. This was my "birthday meal" since we had no plans to eat together again later in the day.

Up next...Did I traumatize Joey forever

I remember when my kids didn't want to stand with any characters until I bribed them. Ok I know it wasn't right but I got the job done, and :) we got lots of pictures.

Just popping in to say hi! I'll have to come back and actually read later, as I'm trying desperately to do a massive spring cleaning and want to actually accomplish something today! :lmao: You left Disneyworld on my birthday!

OK, I'm all caught up now! :goodvibes You are certainly a busy mom and I don't think I could have navigated Disney with ten people. I had a tough enough time for the few days of our trip when my mom joined us. :rotfl:

Thanks ladies, Jack either makes that tongue face or a wierd smile most of the time. With my kids they have to do something once or twice and then they are usually ok the 2nd or 3rd time around, so hopefully next trip we'll get smiles with Woody and Buzz ;)

I think we started our day at DHS exactly the same way: TSM and then Buzz and Woody. I was really looking forward to seeing Max meet the two of them, as they're his favorites, after Lightening and Mater, of course. But Max wasn't too thrilled. He didn't cry, but he wasn't beside himself excited, either, which I kind of thought he would be. :confused3 But, hey he's three and a half.

Its funny you say that about your boys doing something more than once. I know that's true for Max. I think he'll feel a lot more comfortable and much more enthusiastic about a lot of things this time around, as he will have seen everything at least once before.

Going to Disney with little kiddos is not the easiest thing in the world, but on the other hand, I certainly don't regret either. :goodvibes

I don't regret our trip either, I figure I've just laid down the ground work, my kids LOVE disney, Disneyworld can be a bit much for some kids but totally worth it.

After lunch the boys were ready to go, actually they were ready to go after TSM, but they were managing somewhat.

We were ready to split but my Mom asked if we could just do one more thing together. So we all decided to go on the Great Movie Ride before parting ways. BIG… HUGE mistake. I couldn’t really remember the ride, I knew it would be slow, maybe a little dark at times, I knew there would be scenes from movies and so didn’t think it was a big deal. Well Joey screamed through most of the ride, I didn’t remember there being so many scary things in it. It was awful and just when I got him calm down we go to the part of Aliens and after that it was over. I’m pretty sure I did traumatize him a little. After that I really couldn’t blame him for being hesitant to go on anymore rides. We got the cowboy btw. I'm not really sure what Jack was thinking through the whole ride, he had his headphone on and played with his glow stick and looked up at the guy talking from time to time.

After this we decided the four of us needed to get back to the house, but first we had to find the Buzz (after we got off TSM Jack had seen a Buzz light year toy, and that was the prize he worked for all day- he had to try and control his behavior and be patient with everyone), we headed toward the shops and couldn’t find the one Jack wanted, so had to walk all the way back to where TSM is, but not before some PP pictures, the first of the trip. The boys were in good spirits since they knew they would be getting a toy after posing for a picture.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0001FourBySix.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0005FourBySix.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0006FourBySix.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0008FourBySix.jpg

So Jack got Buzz, and Joey got the bucket of green army men (after debating several other options including the little green aliens),
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/03-14-11_1421.jpg

we decided since they were in a good mood lets go check out the character area in the animation studios. We walked in and the lines were so long and the boys were less than interested in getting anywhere near any characters, so we just walked around so they can see everyone from a distance, a cm approached us and chatted with us and the boys for a bit, but they were just ready to go back to the house, so we headed out of the park.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011227.jpg

Also at some point Jack screamed at me to get his birthday button off. It took me awhile to put all the pieces together… I had determined a)he was getting too much attention, b)people kept saying happy birthday and he kept saying my b-day is on the 28 (something that he learned in school this year which is great, but didn’t help the situation). I didn’t realize a lot of this until a conversation I was having with the spectrum moms online about him thinking we were going back to WDW on his actual birthday since I had made the mistake of saying “we are celebrating your birthday at WDW.” And I didn’t make it clear that it wasn’t happening on his birthday.

We stopped for a few more pictures with two happy boys

That ended the only time we spent in DHS on this trip
Favorite: Disney Junior Live on Stage
Least Favorite: The Great Movie Ride
Overall: an ok day, several highs and lows, and now we have an idea of what the boys can and can’t tolerate.

After we got back to the house we took the boys for a swim, rested and watched tv and ate some dinner.

Coming up next: We were determined to get the boys a little more excited about our trip so we headed to Epcot to see Illuminations…

Sorry about the Great Movie Ride. That's sort of how I felt after making Max sit through Captain Eo. :scared1: I had completely forgotten about the horrible Angelica Houston scary thing. Max was pretty much done after that.

But its true...how can you gauge how your children are going to react to something, especially to a Disney attraction, in advance?

Can't wait to hear about your trip to see Illuminations. That's my favorite. :cloud9:

Oh, such a bummer that your last ride of the day had to be such a hard time for your little guy! Although, it is one of my favorites, I do understand how scary it can be for the younger set. Glad they got some much needed down time in the pool to cap off the day. :thumbsup2 That always serves to wind things down.

We were ready to head back to the parks, just the four of us...

This time we remembered the stroller, and having realized my kids and my husband were wearing black tops I also changed into a black top because I wanted to get some nice pictures of us together, and I think they turned out pretty well.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/03-14-11_1859.jpg

Jack did not want to get out of the stroller for pictures and the PP photographer insisted that he must get out or the pictures wouldn’t turn out correctly. He really just didn’t seem in the mood for pictures, but we did get a couple nice shots, and the PP photographer ended up being more patient after she noticed the GAC in my hand.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0016FourBySix.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0018FourBySix.jpg

I had wanted to take my DH to Club Cool because he loves soda and I truly wanted to trick him into trying a Beverly, but when we got to Club Cool it was closed, I looked at my phone and it was 7:15 pm already. Oh well, we’ll have to try again later in the week, this is just a bonus trip to Epcot to see how the boys react to the fireworks.

I was loving the topiaries along the way
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011001-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011002-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011004-1.jpg

and we really had no plans for this evening so we stopped again for pictures on the back side of the big golf ball ;-)
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/03-14-11_1913.jpg

This time the PP photographer let the boys stay in the stroller.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0031FourBySix.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0046FourBySix.jpg

We decided to make our way over to ride The Seas with Nemo.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011006-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011007-1.jpg

Joey rode with John and was a little scared from the dark, but he had his glow stick and glow bracelets so that helped. Jack rode with me and also got a little scared from the dark but was so excited to be seeing all the Nemo characters.

After we exited I wanted to go into Turtle Talk with Crush but Jack saw the escalator and took off in that direction. He would’ve been happy just going up and down the escalator, but when we got to the top we all were pleasantly surprised and excited to see the fish tanks and they thought the dolphin and the bubbles in the tanks were so cool. We were enjoying this area where there weren’t a lot of people and it seemed like we had the tanks to ourselves.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011008.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011009-1.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011010.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011011.jpg

I was hoping to get to see a little more before Illuminations though, so we gathered the boys and went down the escalator and headed out to find the stroller. Once we got back to the stroller we headed toward World Showcase snapping a few pictures along the way.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011012-1.jpg

By the time we got to Canada which was the first stop we decided to watch Illuminations from there since people were already lining the fence. Only problem was there was a big structure and tree right in front of us, my DH said it would be fine, but I knew otherwise and am not sure why I consented to just stay there. So he got the boys settled and I went off to find some snacks.

I returned with ice cream for everyone, found the boys headphones, and got jackets and the blanket ready as it was starting to get a little breezy. At this point my Dad called and said he was on his way toward us, the rest of the family went back to the house from DHS and had opted to not watch the fireworks tonight, but my Dad needed a ride home so he headed our way to watch the show with us and go home with us after the show.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011013.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011014.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011015.jpg

The boys were enjoying the beginning of the show, when the globe comes out and the water shoots up, and I think they liked the music.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011016-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011017-1.jpg

When the fireworks started Joey hid his face and was ready to go home, Jack got bored after a few minutes and played with his buzz and also stated he wanted to go home.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011019-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011021-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011024-1.jpg

(I think if Jack could see better he would've enjoyed it more, and I think maybe if we were further back Joey might've enjoyed it more, so next time I'm thinking of going up on the steps in Canada like I've heard some do.)

Of course we were up against the fence with a crowd behind us and I wanted to watch the show, at least what I could see of it. So we watched the rest of the show and promptly exited with the rest of the crowd when the show was over.

I think the boys fell asleep on the way back to the house, and if not they fell asleep right after we got into the house.

Tomorrow was to be an AK day, and a new fresh day for a fresh start, and I had high hopes since the kids LOVE animals…

that's nice

Thanks Julie, I think the hardest thing, really not hard just not expected, was how much of a hard time Joey was having. But for sure next time I will be WAY more prepared and so will the boys:goodvibes

Another great update! We had a tough time with photo-taking, as well. I had planned on using PP a lot, but Max was rarely in the mood to stop and take pictures and if he was happy in his stroller I saw no reason to force him out of it. I'm glad the second photographer was more cooperative.

I couldn't get Max to stay for Illuminations and that's where I think giving him choices was a BAD idea. After a couple hours anywhere, his automatic response was, go back to the room. :rotfl: What can you do? And I applaud you for handling it all so gracefully with two kids! :worship:

Can't wait to hear about your day at AK, hope it was great!

I just started your TR and read the whole thing. I am really enjoying it. Your boys are adorable. I am glad they are enjoying their first park day. You really did a lot for the first day. Fun Illuminations pictures. The condo is very nice.

Thank you and :welcome:

Thanks, pictures are such a funny thing

Yep that was our kids after a couple hours, they wanted to go back to the house:confused3, our kids are so similar.

Thanks, AK is going to take slightly longer, cause I haven't written it yet, most of what I posted I had already written and it was just waiting for the pictures to get organized

HAPPY EASTER everyone will have some pictures to post Monday and then hopefully should get the first AK post up on Tuesday or Wednesday. Hope everyone is having a restful and fun weekend

Hey all, so I can finally post my life update which I've actually known since the beginning of the month, but had to keep quiet until now.

We are moving, this is the reason I'm trying to get through my TR quickly because I'm sure I'll be without internet for awhile during the transition. It took a little while for us all to be excited about the move, but we are all very much looking forward to the move.

I liked this house when we drove up to check out the area, but my DH said it was too far from everything
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/MarApr2011019.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/MarApr2011022.jpg
The boys and I are hoping to eventually move into a home on a large enough piece of land to have a mini farm with a pig, some chickens, and a goat. And where I can have a nice little garden to grow some fruit and veggies.

The boys had fun decorating their easter bags and eggs with stickers this year
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/MarApr2011075.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/MarApr2011077.jpg
They helped stuff the plastic eggs with some little candies and Nemo silly bandz, with supplies in their Mickey bowls which we use daily, they are the best bowls, I want to get some plates too now

The boys got paint in their bags, Jack made this dragon, painting is nice therapy for Jack, we decided we probably need to have a special area in our new home for him to paint/draw/etc
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/MarApr2011154.jpg

And last I've been having fun making cakes and had to share my Easter cake
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/MarApr2011158.jpg

Hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend, I'm hoping to get my AK post up tonight or tomorrow :)

There has been a lot of talk lately about things we want to do on our next trip, we are looking at first or second week in February 2013, I was hoping for a Fall trip with the boys but after our recent trip we agreed it's just not going to work so I'm hoping I can swing a fall trip next year (but it would have to be solo)

How fun! A move to the country!! I love the idea of a little mini-farm; I really hope things will move along smoothly for this transition!

Your Easter celebrations looked fun with the boys! So many extras, and I love your cake. It's really pretty, Jessica!

Thanks, time is ticking away and we still have several loose ends to tie up here so we may be pushing the move to July instead of June, DH has until August 1st, though we'd like to be there sooner than later. But he is leaning toward renting for the first 6mo to a year, there is a home we can rent through the diocese out there that is for people transitioning to the area like us.

I sure hope I can do a 2012 trip too

Thanks Liesa, I'm so looking forward to a slower pace of life, though DH and I have different ideas about a living space, we have come to a compromise on what we are looking for.

The boys really had fun this year, they are a little older so we have involved them more in the preparation, then just the participation.

Thanks the boys and I have really had fun making more things ourselves, and I have found the cake making to be good therapy for me:goodvibes Hope you area also having a great day. new post coming up

Tuesday March 15, 2011: On to AK

The morning went pretty smoothly, the boys got up and dressed without any issues and we all ate a quick bite. The boys opened up their gifts from Peter Pan and my niece from Tinkerbelle, the only thing I can remember is that they got glow bracelets and a glow stick (they got this every morning).
We loaded the cars and were on our way.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011026-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011027-1.jpg

We did not make rope drop but we did arrive at a good time to see some smallerish creatures.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011028-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011029-1.jpg

The boys liked looking at the Toad and Tarantula.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011030-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011031-1.jpg

Then we walked over to look at the bird exhibit, the plan originally was to make a dash straight for the safari but my sister was mia.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011032-2.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011033-1.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011034-1.jpg

I finally inquired as to what was taking so long and my Mom said she went to get Anniversary buttons now since their anniversary was in a few days and she didn’t know there were Anniversary buttons when they got their first visit buttons the day before. So I decided to walk over to the kiosk to look at the lanyards to hold my little card holder I had purchased in January which is where I kept my park ticket, debit/credit cards, and Jacks GAC. I purchased one and when I put it on it was so long, after awhile I pinned it up with the birthday button from the day before.

Finally everyone was ready to head to the safari, we saw this guy on the way:

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011035-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/03-15-11_0911.jpg

By the time we got there I think we had about a 20-30 min wait. My camera died while on the ride but I did manage to get some nice shots of the animals and one video of the giraffes running which we all thought was pretty cool.

check out that cute new baby

Jack was wondering where the zebras were and when we exited a CM started a conversation with us about the zebras, and told us they were causing problems getting the other animals too excited so the only place to view zebras now is at AKL. Next trip we'll have to plan a trip to AKL just to see the zebras

up next will the heat get to us or will we stay in happy spirits...

That's the problem with going with family- everyone is always waiting on someone. I know when you choose to go with family or even friends, I have to adjust my expectations and go with a "we're in this together" mode of thinking rather than, I just want to do everything.

You got some really great pictures from the safari. I always struggle with getting 2 or 3 to turn out.

You saw a snake?? Is that what that is?? I love snakes and always look for them when I'm in FL, but never have yet. Someday.

I know I"m in the major minority on that one- sorry for all you snake haters. :goodvibes

It gets better ;) meaning not, lol

no it's not a snake, I think it's an anteater way down there all curled up, but I can't remember that is why I said "this guy" :lmao: I'm sure you could see a snake in the front where we saw the toads and tarantula, I actually think one of the CM did have a snake in their box but there were too many people.

We visit the snakes a lot at our local zoo.

On my sisters to do list was Affection Section so the plan was to head there next but Joey wanted a snack and I wasn’t sure there would be any in that area so everyone headed in different areas to grab a snack and the plan was to meet up in Affection Section.

Joey wanted a pretzel, but when I went to the stand there weren’t any plain pretzels and it was going to be 10-15 minutes before they got any more. Trying to talk him into fruit he would not stop, so my DH said he would sit with Jack and talked me into making my way to a different area in search of a pretzel. We got all the way to where you can see Devine (didn’t get to see her) and Joey see’s someone with Mickey ice-cream so now he wants that, so we walk all the way back to where we were because there was an ice-cream stand we had passed close to where I left DH and I got two Mickey Ice-creams. Jack hasn’t had “real” ice cream in a year and he devoured it so fast, Joey didn’t finish his so Dh and I each enjoyed a couple bites.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/03-15-11_1049.jpg

We got on the Wildlife Express Train and just as we are chugging away we see the rest of the family making their way to the front of the line, so we knew they would be on the next train up. So we walk very slowly and as we all meet up my niece is asleep, Jack is acting up, and Joey wants to go no where near the animals. After the boys and I make our way through the conservation area (where DH had to escort Jack out of) my niece is awake. I take Joey to see the goats and DH takes Jack with him to see the goats as well. We only got one picture on DH’s phone.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/03-15-11_1141.jpg

Deciding the area was a bust we head back to the train and make our way to Flame tree BBQ, my Mom said my Dad was hungry, but first we stopped to take the only big group shot of our trip (the kids were less than cooperative):

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0048FourBySix.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0052FourBySix.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0058FourBySix.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0062FourBySix.jpg

We get there and the line is really long and my Dad said he wasn’t hungry (he never said he was, mom just assumed), so we head to Dinoland. The boys are both very agitated already, it is getting quite hot out. My sis and Bil want to ride Dinosaur and Mom says she wants to also and talks my Dad into riding. They leave my niece and Aunt with us. So we have two strollers and a wheel chair and just two of us. We decide to take the kids on Triceratops. The line was WAY to long and didn’t help the boys mood, but we stuck it out and they all enjoyed the ride. We are waiting and waiting, I see a shaded area so I wheel my Aunt over to it and park her, then push my niece over and park her, Dh brings our stroller over with the boys. Joey wanted to go see the dinosaur on top of the restaurant.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/03-15-11_1247.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/03-15-11_1315.jpg

We saw goofy and asked if the boys want to take a picture and of course they didn’t (silly me for asking). So we wait some more. Finally the rest of the party joins up with us again and didn’t ride the ride but ended up jumping out of line and got fastpasses for later. My Dh was pretty frustrated with that hour of time, but kept his cool.

We decide it’s time to take the boys back to the house before a meltdown happens. So we part ways after some flustered discussion about what to do next.

On our way out I ended up carrying Joey and we are walking and we hear “Pictures with Pooh and friends” Joey pops his head up and gets excited. John tells me to take him, he walks around with Jack.

Joey was excited for most of the wait until we got to the front of the line and then he starts crying, the PP pictures turn out pretty good after some cropping but after we see Pooh I make a mad dash out of there with a screaming child (not cause we are leaving, but because he doesn't want anymore characters to get near him).

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0066FourBySix.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0081FourBySix.jpg

In the end the tears were worth the few laughs we got and I think some cute pictures

up next should we stay or should we go?

Once I meet up with Dh again I see Jack is asleep in the stroller so we decide to stop at Flame Tree BBQ and grab some lunch (with the plan to get something for Jack and just take it back to the house for him). Lunch was wonderful, I enjoyed the BBQ ck salad, DH gets the pork pulled sandwich, and I get the kids an order of ribs to share. No pictures of course thanks to my dead camera battery. Jack wakes up as we are cleaning the table and eats a little bit. Then on cue they both start again “lets go home, I wanna go home”

So we pack up and head out, but not before taking some more photopass pictures (really it only happened because I got us turned around and had to stop and pull out the map, there was a PP there) I’m glad we stopped because Dh and I haven’t taken pictures just the two of us in forever, and the PP had us take some, and I’m so glad he did.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0094FourBySix.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0096FourBySix.jpg

I stopped in the gift shop outside AK to get the boys shirts to wear the next day at MK.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/03-15-11_1514.jpg

The boys both fell asleep on the walk back to the car.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/03-15-11_1515.jpg

Of course we take another dip in the pool and just relax. We had dinner and decided not to head back to a park tonight because tomorrow we are going to MK.

That ended our AK time:
Favorite: Mickey ice-cream
Lease Favorite: waiting in dinoland
Overall: a decent day, wish I could’ve taken the boys to see Nemo or FOTLK (that’s why we go back though, right)

So instead of visiting a park we decide to head out for dessert…. So where do you think we went? (and this was a highlight of our trip)

I'm bored to tears right now, doing laundry and in the middle of a flash flood watch (prepared to evacuate if necessary)...:confused3 so home for the day and guess I'll post this next update...

So one of my Dh’s only requests for this trip was to get some ice-cream, some GOOD ice-cream, so where else would I take him then the place home to the kitchen sink. (we weren’t ready to tackle something like that, but the table next to us did, they had 8 in their party though) The hotel was beautiful and my DH said he’d like to stay here too someday, until I told him how much we would have to pay, lol.

The kids enjoyed selecting music and probably pushed like 10 songs. The atmosphere and décor was fun.

My Dh got the Milky way Sundae

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011065-1.jpg

and I got the No Way Jose.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011066.jpg

Everyone enjoyed their sundaes (and Joey sampled a little from everyone’s dish) but we all agreed it was too much and we could’ve shared. Our waiter was fantastic, we tipped him very well, sorry I didn’t catch his name. Joey spilled his water everywhere, we cleaned up the table and bench but felt bad about the floor, our waiter said not a problem.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011069-1.jpg(it was all my fault, I let him take his lid off)

It’s definitely a place we would visit again and was probably one of the best memories of the trips, the boys were happy the whole time and never once asked to go home.

When we left the fireworks for Illuminations were going off and we asked the kids if they wanted to sit and watch, they say no so we head home to get to bed early, we have a rope drop to make tomorrow. But first we grabbed some pictures outside.

up next...can a party of 10 make it to an MK rope drop?

Oh I was going to guess Beaches and Cream! :rotfl2: No really!

What a smart photographer to get you two on your own for some PP pics. Everything looks delicious at B&C, even the kids sundae's look huge. :thumbsup2

The flash flood watch sounds horrible - I hope you don't have to evacuate.

Beach club looks awesome - I would love to stay there one day but like you the price may put me off!

I can't believe I didn't think of Beaches and Cream! :sad2: I just went with Ghiradelli's because I had been reading about it in other TRs for most of yesterday.

I'm so glad that this was one of your trip highlights as we will be visiting and I am planning on getting the No Way Jose sundae - may think of sharing it if it is too filling! popcorn::

Love that the boys enjoyed the visit and you had a great waiter! :thumbsup2

I know you were, sorry I didn't leave a longer break between posts, it's just no fun being stuck at home with nothing to do :lmao:

Yes I thought that PP was smart too, I would've never thought to take pictures just the two of us

Jack did finish his sundae, he was the only one to finish, I should've took after pictures

thanks I'm hoping we don't need to evacuate either

I was thinking of you as I posted the Beaches and Cream post, especially since I had read you plan to try the no way jose sundae, it was SOOOOOOO GOOD, just way too much for me, I only ate half of it

a night away from the parks was just what they needed and who wouldn't be in a good mood after being allowed to eat so much ice-cream:)

That ended our AK time:
Favorite: Mickey ice-cream
Lease Favorite: waiting in dinoland
Overall: a decent day, wish I could’ve taken the boys to see Nemo or FOTLK (that’s why we go back though, right)

yes that is right :cool1:

So instead of visiting a park we decide to head out for dessert…. So where do you think we went? (and this was a highlight of our trip)

so glad you enjoyed your evening out and B &C...I know most of the family would enjoy that place too :thumbsup2 but poor NR unless they have fancy soy ice cream sundaes...I just don't think we'd go...plus my tummy and ice cream don'tn like each other much anymore

Sorry, I've been MIA! :goodvibes I'm subbed to a lot of threads, it seems, and sometimes I get so tired all I want to do when I'm on the Dis is just read, not comment, necessarily! That's good news about the move. A mini-farm sounds great. We have a move coming up on the horizon, at some point, too, just not sure when... :rotfl:

[COLOR="Blue"][SIZE="3"]it's ok, we still want to go back, and so do the boys, and I learned a very important lesson, like most people I think would agree with, future trips will just be our little family

Tell me about it! :lmao: Never again! And I only went with my mom. I can't even imagine trying to manage a larger group.

And, yes, seeing things you missed is all part of the reason we keep going back. But to be honest...I'm sure we'd go back even if we had the most perfect, we did everything we wanted to, trip ever! :lmao:

we sadly did end up having to evacuate our home, it is not flooded, but the streets for us to get anywhere are, so we have been getting settled into a temporary extended stay place until the flood waters go down enough to allow us to return home. Exactly more time for DISing, well that is when I can use my computer, I've been letting the kids watch netflix and disney shows on my computer since this place doesn't have Disney Channel:scared1: I think that has been one of the hardest things for us since it is part of the routine when I'm cooking dinner and for Jack to unwind afterschool

Wednesday March 16, 2011

MK Day (just a side note here, originally when I started checking park hours, I think MK was closing at 10pm, then it changed to 11pm, and then it changed to 12am)

From this part of the trip moving forward I don’t have any notes written up and I’m just going by the pictures to jog my memory.

Looking at the pictures from the morning I’m reminded that Peter Pan brought the boys Whoopee Cushions.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011072-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011073.jpg

Jack thinks they are hilarious, and of course he had Buzz partake in the fun too.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011074.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011075-1.jpg

Buzz was his best friend all week, if you hadn’t noticed from all the pictures. And he took the whoopee cushion to every person in the house and had them sit on it. Everyone played along and acted tricked, but he would just say “here sit on this” and then laugh.

So with their brand new Mickey shirts (purchased in AK the day before) we loaded up the car and headed out. When we arrived I was slightly confused as I really had not done my homework on getting to MK. Because I had never stayed off property before, I didn’t realize the only way to get to MK from the parking lot was via the monorail or boat.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011076-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011077-1.jpg

We opted for the Monorail though standing in the line I headed down to check out the boat and as I waved to my family about 75 people came charging me, and my family stayed in line for the monorail and we got on within 10-15 min.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011078-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011079-1.jpg

The boys enjoyed the monorail ride and Jack got excited when I said I could see Mickey’s castle (as we refer to it).

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011080-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011081-1.jpg
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011082-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011083-1.jpg

We did not make rope drop, a big reason being I was not prepared for the ride on the monorail.

Now we had discussed heading straight to Dumbo, but I had also hoped to grab a big group photopass picture in the entrance and in front of the castle. Well there was some confusion and everyone made a mad dash for Dumbo, except my little family of course. So we held everyone up (not really they went and rode Dumbo) while I got pictures with my family.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0104FourBySix.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0106FourBySix.jpg

After we took our first picture of the day, and my husband headed through the tunnel to the left I started thinking about my friend Heidi and was debating whether to tell my DH that we needed to enter the other side (especially after the previous two days). But he moved quickly and so I just went with it.

The excitement was building as we walked down Mainstreet and the castle came into view.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011084.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011085.jpg

We stopped half way down Main Street for more PP pictures, where Jack was looking for Tinkerbelle, he looked in my hand and then at me as he was confused when he saw nothing.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0108FourBySix.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0118FourBySix.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0120FourBySix.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0123FourBySix.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0126FourBySix.jpg

We get up to the center of MK in front of the castle and yep you guessed it we stopped for more pictures. Jack wasn’t really in the mood the whole way, but I forget what my DH said to him and he finally took Buzz away from his face and we got a nice picture.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0127FourBySix.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0129FourBySix.jpg

I wanted to get a picture of them walking through the castle and did, but it didn’t turn out how I had hoped.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011086-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011087.jpg

The whole transportation to MK thing from off-site plays a big part of my final thoughts on staying off site.

Yeah, but you can see Jack's arm and Joeys face in the pictures, we got them, but they were less than thrilled about it, but I am guessing they won't let me stop so much in the future now they know what is there, as they both keep talking about one ride in particular.

We made our way over toward Dumbo and my Mom is waving her arms all over like a mad woman, I love my Mom but she is so over dramatic sometimes. Everyone asked where we had been and I said we had thought we would all get in a photo in front of the castle, but they had taken off so fast. My sister and niece were already half way through the Dumbo line. So we get in line too. Jack LOVED the mirrors in the que. He has often practiced speech and other things in front of the mirror and so love to make faces in the mirror.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011088-1.jpg

Ok so now for the pixie dust, we are waiting in line so I don’t know exactly how it all went down, and some might not think this is pixie dust but being a photo obsessed person I was so jealous of what just happened and thought it was so cool, (something I didn't know was even possible) and then even more so when I saw these pictures….

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0135FourBySix.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0137FourBySix.jpg

A PP photographer took pictures of my niece on Dumbo:cool1:, her first ride in MK, and her first ever ride on Dumbo. I LOVE how these pictures turned out. My sister also had to sign some sort of waiver as they said they might get used on the website or show up somewhere and I imagine on the castle that night.

Next was our turn to ride Dumbo, it wasn’t quite next it was a couple more turns, but anyhow… the boys LOVED it. They later in the day wanted to ride again, but the line was just too long.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011089-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011090-1.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011093-1.jpg Joey doesn't look so happy in this picture, but he did have fun, he just wanted Dumbo to stay low

Glad our day was starting out so well. I’m pretty sure I had to use the restroom about now. Then we regrouped and all together once again headed over to The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. I cannot express enough how much fun my kids had in this line, they could have been happy just playing in the line. We got rushed a long and I told the boys we would return later in the day to play some more.

While we regrouped outside the bathroom my sister and I had a little character interaction of our own, can you guess with who?

Love the pixie dust your niece got and IMO it def was pixie dust!! She looks so cute in that picture and am sure she will love having that reminder! :thumbsup2 Wow - will keep an eye out during our trip to see if I can spot her on the castle etc.

I have seen many pics of the new Winnie the Pooh queue and they look awesome!! I can't wait to have lots of fun whilst waiting in line for that ride :goodvibes

Having a photopass photographer capture your first-ever ride at the Magic Kingdom? Yeah, I'd say that qualifies as pixie dust!!! ::yes:: :yay:

Hmmm, was your character interaction with Pooh himself?

Late to the party but am all caught up!

I have to admit, reading your TR brings back some memories that had clearly been selectively tucked away from trips when my kids were a lot younger. I'm worn out just reading about it. You seem to handle the melt downs and character fears really well and still have a great time. I've yet to actually sit down in beaches and cream, man those sundaes looked huge!

If you do go back and stay on property, I can't say enough good things about the Fort Wilderness cabins. Especially with smaller kids, the amount of room is just perfect, plus the privacy and if you can get in on a good discount, it can work out really well. Ours are too big now so I'm not sure we'll be able to stay there again but we really really loved it.

That dumbo picture is priceless! I'd be very excited about it too :)

Goodness it has been a long time since I posted an update. I had originally planned to get this TR done before our move, but after returning home from the flood evacuation we got a call moving up our move date, so instead of moving mid july to August 1st we leave in just 10 days :scared1: so things have been a little bit hectic here

so I felt I needed to post a little more from our MK day and hopefully will get one more up before we head to our new home.

So we left off with my sister and I meeting a special character, who did we pose with?? Pinnocchio, my Mom has a picture but I need to get it from her, actually she has several pictures I need to get and I'll add those in a photo post when I am able to get them. After our picture with the little wooden puppet we headed to IASW, this ride was a hit with everyone, and as was becoming routine after I snagged a few pictures Jack took over the camera:

After the boat tour we headed toward Frontierland for a Country Bear Jamboree (my Dad's favorite attraction)
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011138-1.jpg
The verdict on that ride was Joey loved it, Jack really didn't like it and I'm really not sure what aggravated him, but I almost had to take him out of the show, he was curled up in a ball while digging his head into my lap and crying off and on. And I think my niece had mixed reviews of it.

Up next... It's Amazing the rides Jack enjoys after being afraid of simple rides, can you guess what ride he braved next?

So I had planned to do another post for MK this week, but sadly my laptop was broken the end of last week, so I'll have to wait until after the move. No sense in fixing it either since we called and they said to fix my screen would cost the same as buying a new one but we could hook it up to a regular monitor, so that is what we have planned once we move and I can get back to DISing again.

Ten million days later.... sorry as soon as we moved I got a job, school started, and now we are into the holidays... which strangely is going to give me more time to finish this.

So we left off with the shocker of the trip... Jack went on and REALLY enjoyed Splash Mountain
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011139.jpg http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011140-1.jpg he is in the second row on the right, the missing spot, lol
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011141.jpg

So much he wanted to go a second time, but when they got in line again the ride broke down:confused3

Here is what the little ones did while my sister, bil, dh, and Jack went on Splash:

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011142.jpg http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011144-1.jpg http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011145.jpg

My niece wasn't shy at all, Joey let kids get in front of him and my Dad stepped in to make sure everyone got a turn :rolleyes1 He did it very politely and no one seemed to mind. And Joey was happy because that meant he got to go down the slide.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011147-1.jpg http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011149-1.jpg

Now of course my brain doesn't remember anything anymore but according to my picture order we went on Peter Pan next. Joey was scared in the dark and held me tight. Jack seemed to enjoy himself and felt secure enough with his glow stick.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011153.jpg http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011152.jpg

Then it must've been time to eat and we decided on CHH
The kids had mac n cheese with grapes
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011157.jpg
I had the anchors aweigh sandwich which strangely came with no side
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011155-1.jpg it was just what I needed
and dh ate this
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011154.jpg

Then it looks like we crossed a bridge
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011158.jpg http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011159.jpg

and headed toward the Jungle Cruise, where we ran into my Dh's coworker at the time.

Then we made our way to Pirates and it was a long wait and we went in the regular line since we rode with everyone. Afterward the boys got some souveniers and were properly outfitted.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011193-1.jpg http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011195.jpg

At this point we seperated from my family due to Jacks increasing aggitation and we took the boys to ride Buzz.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011196.jpg

And of course the ride breaks down, so I took some pictures,
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011197.jpg http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011198-1.jpg

only to have everyone have to exit the ride shortly after that. The boys were in good spirits though
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011199-1.jpg

So we took the boys back to the house for a nap
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011200.jpg
and planned to return to try again that evening. And I promise our trip started to look up after that.;)

After naps, dinner, and a quick dip in the pool my little family of four was ready to head back to MK for a magical night.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011201-1.jpg

We found a place to park and got the kids bundled in the stroller and headed toward the monorail
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011202-1.jpg

But then we all agreed it might be fun to ride the Ferry once, so we instead headed in that direction
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011207-1.jpg
We had a very enjoyable ride on the Ferry

Then after making it through bag check fairly quickly we headed in and took some PP pics right away

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0161FourBySix-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0163FourBySix.jpg

I can't remember the order we did things, I think we rode Buzz right away since it had shut down on us earlier in the day. A lady commented on how great the kids headphones were and what a great idea. I didn't feel like going into the why and just said thanks.

Next up the People Mover, I know it isn't called that anymore but that is what it is to me :)
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011209-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011210-1.jpg
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011211-1.jpg

Moving around the park with no real plan we ended up here
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011212-1.jpg
And the boys were anxious to get their drivers licenses
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011213.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011214.jpg

We saw this and got excited for what future trips would bring
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011215.jpg

Next the boys saw the Pooh ride and decided they wanted to play more since their play time got cut short earlier
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011216.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011217-1.jpg
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011218-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011219.jpg
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011220-1.jpg

They had refused to take the headphones off because we had told them about the fireworks, which they were adamant about not watching. As luck would have it the fireworks began as we exited Pooh, and we were left with crying/screaming boys, so we made a quick run for it toward Frontierland. Those was the only stressful part of the evening. Once the fireworks were over the boys relaxed and had a frozen treat
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011221-1.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011222-1.jpg

Joey still refused to take his headphones off. But Jack did as he was anxious to try Splash again, which was still not operating. But he did agree to give BTMRR a try. We went on twice in a row, he loved the view of the castle when we were at the top of the ride. He had a GREAT time on that ride. :cool1:

At about that time we decided we should head home to get some sleep, and as we made our way out of the park the parade had started and the boys agreed they would like to stop and watch a bit. We stopped off to the side and watched, it was a nice surprise to get to do, as I love parades and had figured I would get to see none on this trip.

We browsed the shops and everyone got a souvie, can't remember what everyone got, but we all left happy and I was thankful for a very fun evening with my little family

Today was our last park day :sad2:, my nieces birthday, and St. Patricks Day.

Today we were headed to Epcot, but first the princess had to go have breakfast in the castle. So whilst my little family slept in my sister, my Mom, my Aunt Bea, my niece, and dbil headed to the castle for a breakfast fit for a princess
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0165FourBySix.jpg

By the time my family got going, they were finishing breakfast and World Showcase was opening. So we headed straight for Epcot with my Dad in tow. We arrived pretty much at the same time from what I remember

The princess had arrived and of course was once again trying to get the boys to play with her. Man she Loves them, my sister tells me she plays with my boys at home (make believe) to this day.

I'm not suppose to even bring up taking another Disney trip to my husband until the middle of next year, when we prepare to book our 10th anniversary cruise for 2014. But my sweet little 3 year old came to me today and said "Mommy I want to ride Mickey's bus and go to the Halloween party." So sweet. So of course I did what any good Disney Mom would do and started exploring, being that it's football season my husband would not be able to join us... so I crunched some numbers and while I'm not getting my hopes up, I'm going to start planning and wait to bring it up in a few months :rolleyes1:rotfl2:

I love the Flower & Garden Festival too! :thumbsup2 It's such a great time to be at Disney. I always feel like spring is that much closer when we get home.

Yay for a potential Halloween trip!! :cool1: I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. :goodvibes

So many updates!! All of them great!

I like to take the ferry now and again too, just to mix it up some. :goodvibes Yeah, strange that the tuna sandwich didn't come with at least chips! HUH?

You got some fabulous pix of EPCOT too. Nicely done :)

I love the ferry too. It really is fun to see the castle from the water. It's such a different perspective.

I enjoyed all your pictures and recent updates. The boys are cuter than ever! What a nice evening in the MK.

F&G festival and spring break weather wise was great, the crowds were just a bit much.

Thanks, I'm really hoping I can make it happen, I'll really be trying to get my DH in a good mood the next month so I can sell him in the idea;)

I was enjoying the scenery and just snapping away
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011260.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011261.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011262.jpg

Then I realized the boys were getting bored and I didn't want any meltdowns so it was time to find a snack for the boys

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011263.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011265.jpg

I tried to talk them into this:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011266.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011268.jpg
but they didn't want to try and so I enjoyed it... while they ate

Since my family was drinking I convinced my Mom to try one of these, since they are infamous here on the DIS
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011273.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011267.jpg

I continued to take some pictures:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011270.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011271.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011274.jpg

After everyone was done with their snacks and drinks we were off on our way again
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011275.jpg
This I think was the warmest day of our trip

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011277.jpg

I stopped in here for a small snack for us to try but we didn't spend much time in this area:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011278.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011279.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011280.jpg

I decided I wanted to find the kids a fun snack so I entered into the little stand down the main walkway:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011285.jpg
And bought them this:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011286.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011287.jpg

While in the shop my sister spoke some Japanese with the cast member. My sister has been learning Japanese because she has a lot of business men from Japan come into her restaurant and she hopes to one day visit that country.

Next the adults decided to try some food here:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011290.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011291.jpg
I can't remember what I ordered but it was either something with chicken or just veggies;)

Someone in our party discovered something funny, the soy sauce packet said made in America on it, which we all found funny since most things say made in China or some other country and here we were in Japan and a soy sauce packet said made in America
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011292.jpg

The boys were getting restless as my sister went into the store to look around, so I got them out and we went exploring

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011295.jpg

After everyone was satisified with their exploring we marched on, my family stopped here:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011296.jpg
For some yummy funnel cake that we shared
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011297.jpg
We headed into the kidcot area to get their puppet bear things stamped
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011298.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011299.jpg

As we entered Italy we saw this:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011303.jpg
And I had to snag the picture because they are my great Aunts favorite characters

We were lucky enough to be arriving when this guy was also arriving
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011304.jpg
So we stayed to watch him perform
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011305.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011307.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011308.jpg

We were all enjoying the performance, well all of us except Jack. There were a lot of people watching and as Jack became more aggitated the shoes started flying again and we had to get him out of there and to a quiet place asap. I learned not to get toward the front as it makes for a hard escape, but eventually we got away from the crowd and found some shade and quiet over by the gelato stand....wait did someone say gelato?

Gelato is one of my dh's favorite desserts and the boys call it ice cream, so to the snack stand I go

Shortly before or after this we were entering Germany where my family had more plans for drinking and eating. But Jack was DONE!!! And we were headed for a full blown meltdown so this is where we left my family. My Dad seemed upset, but he would've been more upset if Jack had a meltdown in public so we apologized and headed off on our own.

We found it hard to tour the world showcase when the boys were younger. One year we didn't even step foot into that part of Epcot!

When they get a little older & are interested in Kim Possible Missions (Zach loves) and collecting passport stamps, you can enjoy it more. Alex is a huge collector & wants to always complete his collection so it's important for him to visit ALL of the Kidcot stations to get all of the stamps. Luckily he was OK with the fact that he wouldn't get them all in November - it was just too crowded during Food & Wine - but the key was telling him up front that he wouldn't get them all.

Can't wait to hear about what turns your day around!

Thanks Amy, that makes me feel a lot better, but it's funny because to this day despite how they both acted while touring World Showcase when we talk about Epcot or WDW for that matter they both mention Epcot a lot and say it was a favorite part of our trip. Of course it was the last park we went to, that could have something to do with it. And they did get to eat a lot of yummy snacks all day while there.

oh and speaking of collecting, when I got out the Disney planning box Jack saw the coin holder thing we purchased and he goes, thats where my coins are, thanks for finding them, I can't wait to get more. I had to keep them in the box, because he kept taking all the coins out and losing them. And then getting upset when he couldn't find a coin. I should try and find a display board to keep them on his wall where he can't touch them but can look at them.

We had just walked off on our own

We quickly walked by China
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011328.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011329.jpg

I did stop to get an ice tea, it had a fruit flavor to it, it was pretty good and hit the spot, also shared with the boys and I think we got them more water. It was getting hotter.

We also just walked pass Norway without stopping
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011330.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011331.jpg

We did make a quick stop to walk into Mexico to get out of the heat and ride the 3 Caballeros
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011332.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011333.jpg

I have to add in here that Jack at the time always told people he could speak spanish, but really just spoke gibberish. And the nice cool ride had a calming affect on the boys and they really enjoyed the music, so we went on the ride twice.

Joey and I walked outside to get the stroller ready and there was a PP so we took a pic
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0180FourBySix.jpg
By the time we were done with the picture my Dh brought Jack out and put him back in the stroller and onward to the place that turned the whole day around. I had forgotten about these little hidden gems

It wasn't the coolest place to be in (don't think the a/c was working properly), but it was quiet, and there were toys. This is the baby/family center. Private and clean bathrooms, both boys had a bathroom break, drank some water from the water cooler, played toys, and watched a little t.v. It was exactly the break they needed

After our break, we were off again

Ice cream at Beach Club was Dh's favorite part, but I think this place took second for him. He loves Coca Cola

After we left this area we saw these guys
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011355.jpg

We only watched for a second because the sun was right in our eyes

Jack enjoyed the ride so much he got to go twice, once with me and once with DH, the line was pretty long even with the GAC and he got pretty ansy toward the end of his wait in line, but he LOVED this ride
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0184FourBySix.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/Photo0186FourBySix.jpg
When I rode with Jack the guy next to us was getting a kick out of Jacks shrieks of laughter and screams of delight. Dh didn't say much about their ride except that Jack was climbing all over him during the end of their wait and that they had fun once on the ride.

While Dh was in line and on the ride with Jack, Joey got another treat

I'm glad the baby center gave the boys (and mom & dad) the break they needed. We've never been inside one of them... we probably should have checked them out years ago!

Too bad the Beverly wasn't working! I wonder what your DH would have thought about it!

I just read through your whole TR. Can't believe I haven't been following, but guess I haven't been Dis'ing much the last few months.

I couldn't help but laugh when Jack was licking the counter and the CM just hands you the GAC card. :rotfl2: I think we have all been there.

So funny what rides the boys like and don't like. Jacob isn't a big fan of BTMRR or Splash Mountain, so I find it funny Jack loved them. Jacob doesn't like TT either.:confused3

I think WDW needs more of those family stations, more of a "prevent a meltdown station" so kids can take a break.

Hey Jess finally caught up...I missed a ton here, took me a few days to read and look at all the fun.

I am so glad overall, your family had such a wonderful time and enjoyed all the rides and yummy treats :goodvibes

I'm glad that you were able to get ahead of the meltdowns and find ways to divert them too...we used the baby center at EP a few times too...:thumbsup2

Looking forward to hearing about the end and plans for the next trip popcorn::

I'm glad the baby center gave the boys (and mom & dad) the break they needed. We've never been inside one of them... we probably should have checked them out years ago!

Too bad the Beverly wasn't working! I wonder what your DH would have thought about it!

Joey looks like he really enjoyed that popsicle! :goodvibes

yes those baby centers are a life saver, I plan to use them a lot more in the future. I'm so glad we found it by mistake that last day, otherwise we would have not been able to go on. Joey really enjoyed that popsicle :rotfl2: I don't know how many he ended up eating on that trip, I suspect he will try to beat his record though

It's cool I've been hit and miss with the DIS the past year too. I still need to catch up on yours, yeah it would be nice if they added at least one more baby center to each park so when you are the opposite end of the park you might have a second option. I know there are also some quiet benches I've seen families use, so I need to mark everything on our new maps

Yeah We were very fortunate that the meltdowns never got too terrible and that we never lost the boys shoes from the minor fits;) Hoping to use the baby centers more on future trips

I originally thought I would have this done over Christmas break but things just keep coming up. Hoping to post the last part of the trip tomorrow and give a sneak peak into our new plans.

We had just survived our crash dummy experience and were now ready to Soar over California.

The line was quite long even with FP/GAC, so we agreed there would only be one time riding this. So I let DH ride since I have gotten to ride before. So while my DH braved the line with Jack, Joey and I headed to Living with the Land. I enjoyed the ride, but it was just too slow for Joey, he kept trying to climb away from me

he did enjoy the part where we saw animals

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011375.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011381.jpg

After our tour of seeing Disney crops, we decided we wanted to sample some of those delicious veggies and headed to Sunshine Seasons
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011391.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011390.jpg

Where Joey wanted to try everything he saw, but we settled on this (Joey loves broccoli- he didn't share any broccoli with me):
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011387.jpg

DH and Jack joined us and decided they were hungry too
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011389.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011388.jpg

Jack got the pizza sandwich thing and we had so many packs of grapes we took some back to the house with us for later
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011392.jpg

After we were done eating we decided to call it a day and headed toward the exit
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011393.jpg

As we headed toward the exit we noticed there was no line at a ride
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011394.jpghttp://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq225/jpfamilymom/springbreak2011395.jpg

So a ride was in order, they boys really enjoyed it, though Joey kept pushing the buttons on the screen and I think we watched in swedish or something, so I have no clue what was being said, and had never ridden this ride before. It was a great way to end our vacation though.

After this we left DisneyWorld with two happy little boys who were filled with some great memories. As they of course don't remember the meltdowns and thankfully only remember the happy moments they had. So of course we will be back ;) DH said we could go back in 2013, I of course had other plans :rolleyes1

How did Jack like Soarin?

I think Jacob selected Japanese once on Spaceship Earth. And all you missed was a history lesson.

Are you going to have a PTR for the next trip? Can't wait to hear how you all enjoy MNSSHP. I sure missed it this year.

I think he liked it ok, didn't really get a good read, and my DH didn't say much, he didn't not like it.

debating the PTR, if I do I won't start it until Spring Breakish because I'll have more details worked out by then, I'm still waiting for info to be released. Are you going to start a PTR for your upcoming trip or did you already and I missed the start?

Final Thoughts: Think our family trip went pretty well for a first time to the World with kids. Boys want to go back, so that is always good (for a disney obsessed Mommy, lol)

Will probably try to avoid spring break time in the future as it was just too busy for my guys to handle. But the weather was perfect.

Will utilize Disney resources more on next trip, like baby centers. Will also try staying on property next trip, which is all I had ever done before this trip.

The boys enjoy pool/quiet time away from parks, so will make sure to slow down and take a break each day like we did on this trip.

Sneak Peak:
So my three year old has been talking about our trip since we went. We have looked at pictures for the MNSSHP and MVMCP before and the boys have always gotten excited about the idea of going to the parties. Halloween is the boys favorite holiday, and even though we just got done with Christmas Joey has been talking about Halloween and Mickey since then. So I approached my DH about a possible MNSSHP trip, knowing that he wouldn't be able to come because of football (he is a coach and athletic director) but still being hopeful.

He said .....

YES, but only if I took my Mom with me, which was fine because that was part of my plan too. And of course my Mom was game, she loves Disney almost as much as me. So a Halloween trip began to form. So when would we go? We settled on Sept because we figured it would be less crowded then if went closer to Halloween.... so a trip is forming and our hotel is now booked. You'll have to wait to find out that information on the PTR which I plan to begin next month:goodvibes

I can't wait to see the pics from MNSSHP. I really think that is my absolute favorite time to go to WDW. Always loved the feeling of walking into the park for the party.

Be sure and let me know when you start your PTR.:goodvibes
