Definately contact solution and I am totally amazed at your Herbal essence deal you put together (would have never thought of that one!) Will be doing that. DD will be rooming with 3 other girls at college next year so will pick that up and stash till August and send the hair stuff with her to share.

That is a good idea! If I had done that my son and his room mates probably wouldn't have liked what ever brand I had bought. Right now he likes certain things like cream shaving cream not the gel. He likes one particular old spice deoderant not all the differant ones I have coupons for. So I told him if I get it for him he gets what I get. If he doesn't like it he can purchase his own. I am more than welcome to share my stash but ya have to use what I have. Right?

Thank you! :)

I read on Sunday Coupon Preview that there is supposed to be a coupon in Sunday's Smartsource insert for $1 off the Complete Multi-Purpose Contact Solution (12 oz). This would make the contact solution at CVS a money maker. :thumbsup2 I will be taking advantage of that, and I'm debating doing something with the P&G deal since we're supposed to get a P&G insert in the Sunday paper too.

That is so funny. I love when my kids start to get picky. I say well if it wasnt for me getting this free or almost free you wouldnt be using the fancy body wash at 7.99 a bottle. :rotfl2:

new to this- if you buy a set amount of product to get an ECB- can you use coupon on initial purchase- bringing price of items down, and still recieve the ECB for the items?
( i.e.- The herbal essence idea above) get $10 if you spend $30- use coupons so you actually spend only 13.00....they allow this?

That's the beauty of it!! Sometimes they even "pay" you to take products off their shelves!

Yes they will allow it. That is why you can get stuff for free or sometimes actually make a little money on it. Good example is the contact lens solution this week. You can use the $1 coupon that will be in Sunday's paper so you actually get $1 more back in ECB's than you spend. I don't wear contacts but I work with a lady who does so I always pass on those deals to her.

If you put only a little effort into it, you can manage to never pay for toothpaste! In fact, I occasionally clean up my stash and donate things to the local food pantry when I have more stuff than I'll use in a long time. And some of my family members "shop" in my closet!

I'm confused ...

I just got a $4 off of $20 coupon in my email ... AND I have $5.50 in ECBs ... can I use these in the same transaction? With coupons? Do I just give them the $4 off coupon first, before the coupons take the total below $20? Thanks for any help :goodvibes

Does anyone know if there's a limit on the Pantene? Like how sometimes you can only buy enough to get the ECB once? I can't buy 4 and get $4 in ECB; right?

That is how I do it. If I have a $4 off $20 coupon, I put that on top of the pile. Then my regular coupons, then the ECB's. That way if I can't use all the ECB's (and that has happened) they will just hand them back to me.

There are Poligrip coupons in the 3/27 red plum for free poligrip! It's the same size that is $1.99 at Rite Aid with $1.50 vv and $1.99 scr. Makes them a $3.49mm! Also at Rite Aid, the Scunci elastics are producing a monthly $2 up, so buy one at $1.99 and get a $1.99up AND a $2up! $2mm!

Happy shopping everybody! I for one, am really excited about the sinus/allergy deals...

Great deals today! I got the 2 packs of flosser, Crest Pro Health Rinse, Complete, & 2 bottles of the Right Guard Body Wash for only the tax of $1.49! I had 5.88 in coupons & used 18.36 in ECB's then got back my $18.5 of ECB's.
I should have tried to use the 4/20. I'm always scared to use it when it's not one that's sent to me.
Get your Complete early...my store at 9am only had 3 boxes on the shelf.

Unfortunately, there are significant regional differences in the coupon inserts. For example, we in the Twin Cities have two major newspapers. The Minneapolis coupon inserts are far superior and will often have many more coupons than the St. Paul paper. Sometimes when I receive coupons in the mail from my coupon buddy on the train, I notice it's a coupon for the same product as ours but with a different cents off.

There are regional differences in coupon amounts and types. I use the coupon previews and match-ups as a guide to try and plan my trips in advance. It is very disappointing when I'm planning for a deal, and I don't get the coupon. A couple of weeks ago, I didn't get an ENTIRE coupon insert that others got. I missed some good deals that week. :(

Used the 4/20 coupon (thanx) it beeped but she pushed it thru..

Yes, made a Rookie mistake should have stopped at just over 20.00 and then did another transaction...thats what happens when i stop cvsing for a while - still good deal

Used 6.99ecb -- 5.00ecb paid about $5oop got back..18.00ecbs

So broke out even!

Happy Shopping..:thumbsup2 good job. I still spend over the 20.00 mark.:rolleyes1

FYI ~ HTH ~

At two of my CVSs, Clairol Haircolor is on clearance for $2.50 - $3.50.

Not outdated but the company changed their boxes so many have been marked down.

There are $2 and $3 coupons out there (sorry don't remember where i found them) making them close to free!

:thumbsup2princess: good deal:banana:

Great deals today! I got the 2 packs of flosser, Crest Pro Health Rinse, Complete, & 2 bottles of the Right Guard Body Wash for only the tax of $1.49! I had 5.88 in coupons & used 18.36 in ECB's then got back my $18.5 of ECB's.
I should have tried to use the 4/20. I'm always scared to use it when it's not one that's sent to me.Get your Complete early...my store at 9am only had 3 boxes on the shelf. I used to worry also. Then one day my manager told me he would try it. He said the worst that will happen is it will beep:confused3 So, if the beep didnt bother him then it didnt bother me:rolleyes: boy, I have come a long way. I used to turn red faced :lovestrucwhen I used more then 10 coupons:lmao:

I think I made about $3 today--spent $14 (plus $2 for the paper) and got $19 in ecb! Fun! And my cashier said I did a good job--I was a little worried about that.

Question: do you leave the ecb all attached to the bottom of your receipt, or do you separate them?

You did great! I cut all the ECB's off my receipt when I return home. I paper clip my Extra Care card to my ECB's to the receipt plus all the extra coupons from the red coupon machine at the store. Then when I prepare my shopping list for the following week, I clip that to it plus all the mfg. coupons I plan to use. Then I have everything all clipped together in one place and I don't lose my mind. :rotfl:

Good week for me! So glad I made DH switch to the Complete solution a few years ago. We haven't paid for solution since!!!

On both cards I did: Complete, Crest rinses, Rightguard Bodywash, GUM flossers, and Oral B toothbrushes. I broke even for the week.

At Rite Aid I did the TENA (great moneymaker), Poligrip (my inserts didn't have the coupon but still free), scrunci, Gilette Fusions and Nasadocks. I came out about $5 ahead there!

I was pretty impressed with my speed, hit 2 CVS and 2 Rite Aid and got home in 1.5 hours!

Question: do you leave the ecb all attached to the bottom of your receipt, or do you separate them?

I use an envelope to keep both ECBs and the coupons I'm going to use that week.

On the front I'll write what ECBs I have, and the date they expire, so a quick glance at the store tells me what I have and can use:

5/2
$2.00
$3.00

5/3
$2.50
$3.00

And after I use the ECB, I cross them out.

Once the envelope is messy enough LOL, I get a new one.

It really keeps me organized and I rarely let an ECB expire this way.

I do this too! A couple weeks ago I had a revelation. I have been throwing away envelopes from all the junk mail that I get. So I started saving the envelopes and write on the back my shopping list, etc. Before, I was using new envelopes from a box to put my list on. :headache:

I do CVS and Walgreens. So I get all my coupons organized and clip them together with a big paper clip. I have one clip for CVS and one for Walgreens.

My envelopes are all saved from the junk mail too. I also use them for shopping lists, notes on when ECB's and Plus Ups expire, etc. When they get ratty, I toss them in the recycling and grab a new one. Doesn't really save any money I don't think but it is much better to re-use something than to use a new envelope that someone had to cut a tree down for! We are big on the environment at my house.

Just a heads up - my coupons this week had a $1/2 for Pantene, an Aussie/Herbal Essence coupon for $1/2 (Not as good as the BOGO, but something, anyway) and a 20c off Dawn (which is on sale for .99)

Do the BOGO herbal essence and Aussie coupons not say there is a limit of 4 per transaction? I ordered some off eBay (we need shampoo!) and hoping I get them in time to do the deal. Not sure how a raincheck would work for that since you can only do 4 like P&G coupons at a time. Curious if anyone else knows the wording on them. Thanks.

Even if there is, couldn't you use 4 and then go back the next day and do the other two? The "spend $30" deals don't generally have to be in the same transaction, in my experience. It'll just print once you hit the $30 during the sale.

I think I had a "personal best" week at CVS this week !!! I'm so proud!!

this is what I got :

P & G deal
2 - Gain (had $1.00 coupons for each)
2 - Dawn (had $ .50 coupons for each)
2 - Herbal Essence conditioner ( had $ 1.00 off 2 coupon)

1 - Crest Complete Rinse ( had $ 1.00 coupon)
1 - Crest Clinical Gum toothpaste ( had $ 1.00 coupon)

2 - Butler Flosses ( had $ .75 coupons for each) money maker

after using the $ 4.00 off $20 coupon, my quarterly ECB $ 5.50 and various other ECB, I paid $ 4.20 and got back $ 19.00 in ECB !!!

So then, I got the Fiber One Cereal.... I bought 4 boxes ( 2 for $6.00) had a $ .75 coupon for each box. Came out to $ 9.00. I wound up having to buy a few caramels to get it to $ 10.00 so I could use a $ 10.00. So I paid $.94 cash (for tax). for 4 boxes of Fiber One!!!:banana:

and if you're wondering.....who EATS Fiber One?? well, DH loves the stuff and if you ever follow Hungry Girl, it's a staple item for "faux frying"...you crush it up and substitute the Fiber one in place of breadcrumbs...then bake. So this sale makes the cereal SOOOOO cheap !!! I still have $ 9.00 ECB, so we're going tonight to get more cereal !

I'm not even kidding, it was one of my happiest CVS days EVER !!!!! The checkout girl was in awe !!! :rotfl: Thank you again Flaky for helping keep us all afloat !!!

Right, but the wording makes getting a raincheck impossible wouldn't it? I should be fine, there are 6 CVS around here... Should find plenty once I get the coupons between all the different stores.

I think I'm finally settled on what I'm going to get - the Gold Bond, one of the Dawns, six of the Aussie/HE, two of the Pantenes, and Crest Rinse.

$5/25 coupon, $10.70 in mfg coupons, 16.50 in ECB means I'll pay $1.61 and get $7.50 in ECB back. (It's so hard to roll them at the beginning of the quarter, since we end up with a lot of ECB's - my family has a ridiculous amount of prescriptions.)

But the 3, 2 and 2.5 ECBs will do me good in the coming weeks when it comes to rolling them. :)

so....this is my 2nd week doing this- I noticed last week CVS sales were WAY higher than the grocery sales on the same stuff, even with ECB it wasn't worth what I wanted :confused3
anyway- I got some stuff last week,saved around 10.00,got 4.50 ecb- this week spent 23.00-saved 20.00 got 15.00 ecb-plus 10% off beauty stuff + 5.00 off a facial product (can't remember what it was) my best bargain was the buy 3 boxes special K-get 4.00 ecb- I had a coupon for 3.50 off 3 boxes,so total was 6.50 for 3 boxes,minus the 4.00 ecb's.....2.50 for 3 boxes of cereal!:thumbsup2
I am not too experienced yet,but I'm learning! did the toothpaste sales, crest rinse, and free flossers(even I,in my newbie state caught that one!):cool1:

I am new to couponing and have just started stacking coupons at Walgreens and Rite Aid. We do not have a Kroger or CVS within 30 miles. Sav-A-Lot is the only "chain" grocery store (besides WalMart). Others are locally owned and do not offer any doubles or triples. Freds will double coupons up to .75 on Saturday and that's it.

I just don't seem to be able to walk out of anywhere with anything for free. I have gotten a few bargains (cereal at Walgreens for $1.38, M&Ms for $1) and even caught myself buying razors (not DH's brand) because I got them for $1.99 and I am SO mad at myself for buying them today!

I guess I am just frustrated that I don't seem to be getting anything for free, no MM, and don't have a stockpile of anything but shampoo.

You guys seem like reasonable couponers....HELP ME PLEASE :upsidedow

I wonder if you are getting stuff for free and just don't realize it. This is the hardest concept for some of my friends to understand. Sometimes you are spending money OOP but still are either making money or getting something for free.

I shop at Rite Aid, so for example:

The deal this week is buy Colgate at $2.50 and get a $2 UP. You have a $1 coupon and no UP rewards. So you pay $1.50 for the Colgate OOP and you walk out with a $2 UP. You just made .50 cents on that deal even though you spent cash.

Then next week, say Shampoo is on sale for $3 with a $1 UP and you have a $1 coupon. So you pay with $0 OOP ($3-$1 coupon-$2 UP from last week) and you leave the store with a $1 UP. Your cost was actually $1 that week even though you OOP was $0. I wouldn't do this deal unless you need the shampoo.

Another concept that many of us use is to purchase items we don't need if they are free or next to nothing and continually "roll" our UP's forward (so they don't expire). Eventually a deal will come up for a product we do need. At this point hopefully I have built up enough UP's to get that product for free. For example this week I bought the TENA was $9.99 with a $9.99 rebate. I had a $2.50 coupon so made $2.50 on othat deal. I used that "overage" to get the Gilette razors which my husband needs. They came out to $1.99 cost, but with the overage from the Tena of $2.50 it covered that cost and I still came out a little ahead.

Once you build up a stockpile that $2 bottle of shampoo that may have been a great deal to you before is really too expensive because you have 10 bottles sitting in your stockpile that you got for free. So even though it is a good price you can pass on it. That is where we are at. Unless it is free or next to nothing, I don't get it unless it is something we need right now.

Unless it is free or next to nothing, I don't get it unless it is something we need right now.:teacher: Thank you so much. I am sure you just helped many people that read this thread:hug:

I may be and just don't see it YET. I just know when I walked out of Wag I had spent $32 and didn't seem like I really had much to show for it. Thanks for all the suggestions. Hang in there. Sometimes I get a little frazzzzzzzled too. It is hard with kids in tow. Even my older teens I end up spending more and I feel rushed. Sit down and do you coupon match ups with a list and that will help. You will be able to see exactly what you are paying. Everyone here is so good. Many will post a list:rolleyes1 I copy that sometimes:worship: It wont take long.

Who ME???? No no stockpile on that. Although one year I did find some clearance after Valentine's day on it. With coupons got it free. Only bought one though... imagine going through checkout with 10+ bottles??? Or even more than one? Too embarrassing!
