They won big that day. I think it was 9-2. I am not a huge Twins fan, but it is better than the other home town team, the Red Sox :rolleyes1 They are loved by many, but not me.

Great idea for a thread......and great shots everyone!
The calendar might say spring, but it was 40 degrees at 9 PM Friday night. We got there at 5 not knowing what time his event would be......... Man, I still think track is an acquired taste. Maybe I'll like it more when it warms up!
I'm guessing my son wouldn't have appreciated me telling him to put a coat on so he wouldn't catch cold??????? :lmao:
It was a great night as you can see from the smiles on his coaches' faces in the last shot. He took a full minute off his PR in the 3200! :cheer2:

Oh my - once I tell DH that we might be heading down there for a spring training. He's from the Boston Area but at least I've finally got him to acknowledge that the Twins exist. And he will cheer for them as long as they aren't playing the Red Sox. :rotfl:

They play each other twice in spring training. Once at each stadium. They call it the mayor's cup or something like that. All that aside, Ft. Myers Beach was something like #6 on the most popular places to spring break this year. I used to visit here all the time as a kid before moving here eight years ago.

Hey UKCatFan! My parents are originally from Cincinnati so I grew up going to Reds games also. I was wondering if they have a Skyline at Ft. Myers. My whole family loves Skyline, and there is nothing like it here in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
By the way, congrats to the UK Wildcats for their basketball win. We rooted for them!

Actually the RED Sox are my team because they are our local team but in reality, I only catch a few games a year on TV. Can't afford to go to their games anymore since they have had to boost their ticket prices through the roof trying to keep buying a team like the Yankees. :scared1: My Press Pass defrays the cost quite a bit but then I can only go in alone and that isn't nearly as fun.

Baseball season finally started up for us last week. Here are a few
DD at her first game:

The coach of her team has a 9 year old daughter who is friends with my 9 year old DS and she absolutely adores my DD. She helped out the T-ball kids and basically became DD's personal coach. She ran the bases with her and showed her how to play in the field. It was very cute.
Here is DS at bat playing in his first competitive league. Instructional league is now over at age 9. Everything counts. :)

These first two are my 9 year old son. This is his 5th year playing, but his first year of actual kid pitch (the first 2 years were coach pitch & the last 2 years they used a pitching machine). He likes the kid pitch much better! I haven't been able to get any good pics of him catching yet, but they still have a few more weeks of play left.

The second two are my 7 year old nephew. This is his 3rd year playing. He still plays in the age group that uses the pitching machine and DS is teaching him to catch, so he's really excited to do that as well.

Well, track season is over. And I now have several hundred more pictures on my computer that look........ well........... nearly identical! :rotfl2:
So the last couple of meets, I decided to play around a little. If you haven't been to a track meet lately, then just know that there's lots of time to play around with your camera! :rotfl:
My first attempt I won't even post. I brought the tripod and tried to use a longer shutter speed. Major flop. It just looked out of focus.
At the district meet this weekend, I tried to play around with panning. While not perfect, I did like a few of the shots, and can't wait to try it out for cross country in the fall!
Mine is the one in the last photo. He shaved a few seconds off and ended his sophomore year at 4:52 in the mile.

It was that thread last year, and your photoshop version, that came to mind last week when I started getting frustrated with taking the same track shots over and over. I wish I had remembered it earlier to give me more time to practice. And it occurred to me last night that I probably should have turned off the image stabilization!

Great shots everyone!! I am enjoying this thread alot even though I have no pictures to post. I did spend 11 hours last Saturday shooting Lacrosse action and probably clicked off about 4000 shots. Unfortunately it was all for the company I work for doing youth sports photos and I had to turn in my memory card each hour for a new one. There were 74 teams playing on 16 fields and each of the three photographers there were shooting 2-3 games every hour. It was a blast and I am glad I am not resposible for editing all those shots.

This panning looks cool. I like the feel of fast movent that it lends to the still photo. How is it done? is it a longer shutter speed while moving the camera?

Thanks! I used a long-ish shutter speed, I think around 1/40. You then have to move the camera with the subject. I have fairly unsteady hands, so I used the tripod with some of my shots, and a railing for the others, to sort of steady the camera while I pivoted it with the runner.
I can't believe I'm saying this...... but I wish track season wasn't over so I could try it again!
