LINKS BELOW!!!

Welcome to another Dizneydawn TR!!!! This was one of the best trips I have ever had. We took it slow and easy and laughed at the one liners overheard and seen in so many places I had a hard time picking out one to use for a title. :cool1:

This trip was a tester of life to come for this household. Usually we have a posse with us but as kids grow, they head out on their own and it was just me, Dan and Baylor this time. I thought Baylor might feel lonely for his siblings but overall, he enjoyed not fighting for bathroom time, getting to make decisions on restaurants, park directions and daily activities that usually he is run over about. He wished a few times for a "Wing Man" :cool2: but that was strictly about girls. Dan did not qualify due to his senior citizen status at age 42! :rotfl:

Dan and I drove to Florida, Baylor flew in a few days later and we spent a week at POFQ, doing the parks and then had a few days in the Clearwater area. Truthfully, next Spring Break when we have everybody, I think we might do Universal or Bush Gardens and spend the rest of the time on the water. :teacher: We found a paradise like no other I have seen. Baylor even asked if it was where they filmed "Pirates of the Caribbean" pirate: when the cast is stumbling on a beautiful shoreline in crystal clear water!

I am so excited to relive all of the details with you and I am also doing a separate Food Review for those who want detailed descriptions of what was great and what was horrible for the palette! popcorn::

Do not feel sorry for the gang that did not join us! Treyner went to Playa del Carmen with his girlfriend Taylor and her family. Here are some photos of them so you #1 know they had a good time and #2 make me feel better by agreeing that I am not alone in NEVER having vacation pictures turn out like theirs!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Carsyn%20%20Treyner%20Spring%202011/196108_10150128723431182_508786181_6477357_2706825 _n.jpg
For a second i had to do a double take! Looks just like me and Dan! :lmao:

Try and ignore the face fuzz and notice Taylor in his reflection!

Really? I mean why don't I think to pose like that??? :rotfl:

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Carsyn%20%20Treyner%20Spring%202011/199868_10150128724106182_508786181_6477364_4716158 _n.jpg
If I jumped in the air, half of me would still be on the ground! :rotfl2:

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Carsyn%20%20Treyner%20Spring%202011/197438_10150129211686182_508786181_6482104_6646454 _n.jpg

So that is what it should look like snuggling without bellies getting in the way!

Seriously, they had a great time and Taylor's folks are great to Treyner. Or should I say "Trey" because that is what he goes by in college now!

Then we have Miss. Carsyn who headed to Jamaica Mon with 5 of her best girlfriends and a set of parents! I am happy to report there was no drama and everyone had a great time!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Carsyn%20%20Treyner%20Spring%202011/198257_1314221793279_1762731420_548235_2254283_n.j pg
Carsyn and Sara (For those who have been with me a long time - she was Treyner's Junior Prom Date!)

Carsyn and a new friend she met!!

Carsyn & Sara again! Pretty girls inside and out!

I love this picture of her!!! Need to use it for sure for Grad invites!!!

So "Don't Cry for me Argentina" for those two! Although I am excited for the whole gang to be together next year again! Carsyn and Treyner will both be at Anderson and Baylor will be the only one left at home.

Up next...the departure day and adventures along the way!!!!

ETA - Ok I went back and caught up on the pics - O.M.G. those two should be models for Hollister!! I have said it before but really they are an amazing couple and Carsyn is just so beautiful, not to mention Baylors new smile!! Truly blessed you are! Really, if I ever took a picture of my dh sunglasses I am pretty sure it would not be my reflection in the mirrors and god forbid I would ask to pose like some of those - he would think I was nuts! Well. I officially am just green with envy. My spring break was spent at home. The most exciting thing I did was give my dogs a bath.

Absolutely LOVED the pictures of Treyner (or Trey, but that's gonna confuse me because I have a very good friend Trey) and Taylor. Were they professionally done or is someone just extremely talented with a camera?

Can't wait to hear about the trip. My friend is trying to convince me to take a road trip with him to the very southern tip of Florida this summer, and while I would love to experience those crystal blue waters for myself, he wants to do it on a motorcycle, so uh, yeah. We'll see. Anxiously awaiting the next update!!!!

I found out that the resort had a photographer and it is like the photopass at Disney, no charge unless you buy and they may use some for advertising.

My goal is to catch up to the food TR and be at Day 2 by the end of today. If you all want detailed food porn then please head over there for the corresponding restaurant reviews to the days I post here. I am trying to keep it strictly food reviews but sometimes a piece needs to be explained in greater detail. Hard not to overlap!!!

Day 1

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090180.jpg

This was the starting price of gas for the trip. Not quite the $4 we budgeted for but not pesos either.

It was a bit after 5:00 a.m. and we had a long drive ahead of us. Two days until Baylor joined and hours of road time to talk and listen to Books on CD I got from the library. Mostly Anne Rule books and also Angela's Ashes because Dan had never read it and what is better than the Irish making light of tragedy?

We got a drink and hit the open road at exactly:

We were not running late and I was impressed with our skills at that early hour. I had said goodbye to the kids and wished Carsyn a safe and fun trip and asked her not to come back with any tattoos or stories of run in's with Jamaican police.

She gave me a thumbs up :thumbsup2 while still having face down in the pillow so I was not sure if she was affirming my concerns or giving me a "will get after it" thumbs up? :confused3

I had decided not to worry about it but as we sat at the intersection of two roads, one heading us south through Iowa and the other making our usual journey through Wisconsin, I asked Dan, navigating man, which was shorter, he said south.

Now we were trusting his GPS to lead the way on his phone. We had no back up like a Map or even a print-off from Mapquest because we are quite frankly, idiots.

What I did not ask though was exactly how much faster it was going through tumbleweed towns. Again, I was an idiot and as we bumped along at 60 mph in the 55 speed limits, I began to question my lack of questions.

30 minutes later, we got breakfast ala MCD's and finally got on an open road we could step up the speed. Dan was awake and I think I slept or at least nodded off a bit at this point. It was also here that I missed the Booger and her bed in the back. I was either strangling myself with the seat belt, trying to lay down or getting a krink in the back trying to sleep on my side with no support on the lower 1/2 of my torso. I am a side and stomach sleeper. Dan can pass out upright at a movie, restaurant or car. I want to smack him when he says he is going to take a nap in the car and he is gone in 16 seconds.

A few hours later and we were in Iowa. It was early and I saw a sign for the Little Brown Church in the Vale. It was our first pit stop and a total of twenty minutes in the opposite direction round trip but what is a road trip without distractions? It was only 8 a.m.!!!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090191.jpg

This was our Day 1 photo and not to be followed by a Day 2 or 11!!!

This church means something to me because my Aunt was married here the second time around. I never had seen it but when I saw the sign for attractions, had a must see attitude. My Mom was in the hospital in labor with me so she had not attended and I am needing to ask my Aunt if any of her family actually went.

And...why Iowa?

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090192.jpg

Maybe cause it has my name on the church!
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090193-1.jpg

The church looks like almost every other small church I have ever attended and just down the road is an older church so I am not sure the draw here. It was completed in 1864. A little old man was busy vacuuming the place before the rush of people came and we read politely the history of the church and found out a popular hymn in the day was written for this church.

"The Church in the Wildwood" for you music buffs. Most recently released by AC/DC.

Here are some pics.

The biffy you need to go to via a separate building connected to the church. The entrance is outside of the church so everyone will know exactly how long it takes to do your bidness because they will hear you leave, then follow you through the church windows to the bathroom and back!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/Little_Brown_Church_in_Nashua_Iowa_pic2.jpg

The bathroom is actually to the right of the little add on to the main building, down below.

Back on the road, we got only about another few hours south and saw a sign for the Amana Amish colonies and we knew we were never getting out of Iowa!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090199.jpg
This little beauty had cheese and homemade wine to sample. I picked up 3 different salts from all over the world to cook with!!!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090200.jpg

They really have preserved the German heritage of this town and everything makes you feel like you could see cobblestone streets at every turn. It was here we bought some fudge and I also got a small lace doily in a deep green and an Amish cookbook that did not only provide recipes for 100 people at a time!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090202.jpg

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090201.jpg
We had forgot to mail a few things and wondered how long it would take to get where it was going from this post office. Dan bet me it was closed and can you tell how old that padlock is on the mailbox!!! He went in and found out I was right but when he did not come out for 20 minutes and he only needed 2 stamps, I got worried.

Turns out an older woman about 104.9 years of age was working a cash register that looked like an abacus and it moved faster than she did!

A few more miles down the road and it was 11:50 and time for our fist fill up since we left.

Iowa's best known convenience chain:

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090203.jpg

Was the prime spot in the town of:

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090204.jpg

and after our fuel tank was full, we headed on south again.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090214.jpg

Missouri was the next gas fill and the cost was:

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090213.jpg

Honestly I could have cried because there was not a lot to see or do. Then, we got excited because we thought we were farther south than we were!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090215.jpg

Only to be let down to find out someone who did not pass geography in HS was declared namer of towns and villages in Missouri.

I started to drive and Dan became Polly Polaroid in St Louis.

I was ready to get on a plane at this point but we were only at late afternoon and still had a huge drive to get to Smyrna, TN and our first hotel stop. It was over 1/2 of the drive but we had wanted to get the most out of the way originally and we had not figured in a few hours of sight seeing either!

We had bought some gift certificates from Restaurant.com for this night in Smyrna but alas, wee going to get there way to late to use. Taco Bell it was instead!

At 11:30 p.m. we arrived at our hotel. This pic is stolen from the web because it was too dark to take a pic when we got there!
http://images.pegs.com/imageRepo/1/0/30/638/480/Exterior_J.jpg

New and very modern, I really did not care about the amenities. We crashed like it the bed was heaven itself and set the alarm clock for only 4 hours later!:scared1:

My ex MIl never understood why I was aghast at 18 when I saw the first of these convenience stores. I mean seriously, how did that ever get passed the council of approved names for a convenience store?

There is a place in Iowa as well that is a bar/liquor store and in the back has a pool hall/gambling game room.

Sign out front advertising said place is:

"Liquor in the front/Poker in the rear"

I could not even make it up.

In Wisconsin there is a bar named Scabs. Above the door inside, when leaving, you will read a sign saying,

"Thanks for picking Scabs."

My cousins when they visited from West Point bought out the place in t-shirts with the same motto for their friends.

Me too actually. They are a reminder of simpler times and easy schedules when a church potluck was the highlight of the week.

Hey have you hit the food Report yet? I have a link on the first post on this TR.

My knee is fine walking but not with pressure. For example I cannot lie on my left side because then the outside knee is laid on and hurts so bad I want to cry. The warm weather was also better. When we got back to the Tundra here, it is still only 35 as a high and it totally hurt more. I am taking fish pills and see a knee doc next week. It clicks every time I bend it back and forth and sort of pops as it goes back in place on the outside. That does not hurt so I am hoping I can evade any surgery. Dan and I walked over a mile yesterday and it was okay still so I was happy.

I came across a Kum and Go in Missouri on our way to Tablerock Lake/Branson last summer. I looked at the name and was like Really?!?! My sister's boyfriend was the one who chose to stop here so of course I asked him if he chose this gas station because of the name. We had a good laugh about it haha.

Iowa is so funny - I swear it's just that they did not know any better!!! We stoped at the Iowa welcome center once (which had an antique store in it) and the sign said something like Iowa - Where the Fun Happens

I took a picture of it. I'll try to find it for you at home.

I agree about road trips. They can be so fun, but to be fun takes extra time and then you don't get to where you want on time. Especially on the way to your destination - I just want to get there! Going home, eh, I can take my time. No rush.

I looked it up and at least found this:

# Leacock Elementary School
3656 Old Philadelphia Pike
Intercourse, PA
mascot - Indian

Here are some other unique ones/idiotic:

AZ
Salome - Frogs - Cause nothing is as bad @ss as a frog.

Yuma - Criminals - I wonder if they have a bumper sticketr that says, "My Criminal stole more than your honor role student"?

AR
Hartford - Hustlers - If the forefathers only knew how big Hugh Heffner would be - they would have been the Bunnies.

Harrison - Golden Goblins - Because the Pewter Goblins was already taken.

Ozark - Hillbillies - Bib Overhauls and single teeth complimentary at Graduation.

CA
Morgan Hill: Live Oak - Acorns - Sometimes you feel like a nut...sometimes you don't!

Napa - Vintage Crushers - Really? I believe drinking wine is about as vintage as you can get.

Ojai: Ojai Valley School - Spuds - They thought about the Taters but the Mr. Potato Head guy did not fit below the logo.

Yuba City - Honkers - I'ma honker your a honker, wouldn't ya like to be a honker too?

Okay - this is way too fun...I will need to keep posting my faves throughout the next week. No way to properly appreciate it all in one sitting. :lmao:

In fact Dan will tell you I argued that I thought our way through Iowa would send us through St. Louis. He said, "No, it turns to the east before then."

I'm on board! Enjoyed your last TR and my mother and I are doing a 4 days Mom/Daughter trip in about a week! (hopefully i'll start a TR). But noticed you went through Hannibal, my husband is 20 minutes from there!

Day 2

We awoke early. Really early for only getting a long nap. It was worth it though. Stretching out and literally putting our feet up felt great after the sardine can marathon.

We left before they would think of having breakfast out. It had originally been budgeted we would not pay oop for breakfast but getting on the road proved to be worth more in value because it would mean another road trip stop for breakfast and more stories to tell.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090228.jpg
Was the going price in TN that morning @ http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090227.jpg :scared1:

We did find out via a reputable CNN site that there is a website you can go to on your phone and get the local gas prices within a certain radius or you can zoom out to look at a national average per state/region. We found out that indeed, TN was way cheaper than GA would be and we tried to use it when possible.

I believe it was: gasbuddy.com FYI. :thumbsup2

About an hour into the drive we were either tired or hungry and we decided to make a pit stop at a Mountain Top TN Waffle House. I have posted the food review of it already here: Waffle House review (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=40455091&postcount=141)
but as a recap, we walked into a NASCAR time warp.

Every man in the place had a NASCAR ball cap on unless it was the guy who had the NASCAR jacket on because he was heading into work. There was one other couple in there but I think she may have been a lady of the night and I don't mean batwoman!!!

She was not attractive, looked like a washed up Loretta Lynn after being drug around by a coal cart a few times. She was wearing her fashionable Summer teeth, even though it was clearly only early spring.

I bet she wears white after labor day too cause she is a fashion rebel that way.

You all know what Summer teeth are dontcha?

If not ask and I will let ya know. :teacher: ;)

There were two men wrapping up their time on the Waffle House clock and our waiter Koty, took care of us while the cook, slapped on some bacon, got himself a fine batter, he got himself an old fiddle cause you know there aint nothing better than the sun commin up with cakes on the griddle!

I actually love Waffle Houses. I also love the South. All of it, although sometimes I do not understand the mentality of people who do not have enough teeth to hold a cigarette in their head, buying more cigarettes instead of buying teeth. :confused3

I suppose it is like an ahummmmm, cough, sputter, point at self... overweight person buying another doughnut, instead of a gym membership!

It is a strange thing to experience as a Northerner, to head south and notice the quantity of people who smoke or sit in a restaurant and be asked if you want a smoking section or not. The South is home to tobacco and the North is home to hot dish coma's.

We did have the best morning, listening to locales talk about their lives, their work and show such tremendous pride in their pickups. Seriously, not a blemish on a truck from the 70's. Looked like it had just rolled off the showroom floor. In Minnesota there would be softball size holes throughout because of all the darn salt on the roads.

We finished up, and headed out less than 30 minutes later. The sun was just about to rise and we had the most gorgeous view over mountain ridges and a beautiful lake. I kept thinking how lucky I would be to someday be here full time.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090229.jpg

Our goal was to be at WDW by 6:30 p.m. and we were ahead of schedule and excited. The home stretch of the drive was on!

Once we entered GA, the weird got worse.

We ate at a Krystal...again, get your hiney over to the food review pages!!!

It was after that we knew peaches were just a cover story for GA's number one money maker.

Or tail shaker.

Perhaps, baby maker?

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090235.jpg

Why is it that GA insists on letting you know you can see more than just plain ole run of the mill neked strippers?

They are either "Totally," "Completely", or "Entirely" neked. They also try and use slick, smooth talking words like, "check it out."

And encase you were not smart enough to catch on to their innuendos, the local establishments will continue to beat you over the head with multiple billboards every ten feet, and after the exit another 200 feet, just because you may have had a sleeping wife in the car who wakes up after the exit only to slap her husband on the arm and say:

"Honey, why did ya not tell me that that thar exit had a Georgia must see attraction?"

I remember the kids being old enough to read and each of them going through the phase of reading aloud passing billboards. Squinting to make out the words until they came into sight and open mouth forming the letters into words until they knew they were not in Minnesota anymore.

They were in the Bible Belt. :littleangel:

Maybe it should have been referred to as Garter Belt? :lmao:

The other pet peeve about GA, is their road construction for 237.8 miles where only about 60 feet is actually being worked on by 78.5 workers.

I have never seen a state where they have orange cones every few feet for miles and miles and miles with no sign of construction.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090239.jpg

My theory is that they are like my Grandma was with her furniture. They keep the cones out so one side stays good and looks pretty always. The plastic protector of couches everywhere to Great Depression mindset.

We stopped at the outlets just south of Atlanta and I stocked up on my hair supplies I had forgotten at home and also found my Champs Elysees perfume I like from France Pavilion, for 1/2 off on a daily special!!! :cool1:

About an hour south, just before you cross the border into FL, I spotted a lone billboard on the left side of the road, claiming to have the worlds best hot dogs. It must have been God's will because usually I do not read billboards across the highway that are low to the ground.

We ate at a awesome little Lake Side place, enjoying the warm air and turning our faces to the sun like we had never seen it before.

Dan looking like a Mafia Hit man.

Our next gas fill brought us to a much needed car wash.

That did not work.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090249.jpg

Or at least it did not like money from the North.

Seriously, Dan was shoving in every dollar bill he had in any increment of funds and it kept spitting it back out. It would take it, think about it, tease Dan into assuming finally it would be accepting of our offerings and then spew it out like baby vomit.

This happened for almost 5 minutes while people were in line behind us so we could not back out and could not go forward.

I was LMAO, and Dan was not finding me funny.

Which only made me laugh harder.;) :rolleyes1

Finally he paid with a credit card and the signal lit for us to drive in.

I am not positive but I think the cars behind us were high fiving each other.

It was also at this particular location that an older, handicapped, man approached Dan while he was pumping and asked him for money.

He claimed he forgot his wallet and needed money for his truck. Dan gave him some and he moved onto other people in the tank area as well.

As I watched, it was interesting to see his different approach to men, based on their color.

He was black.

When he asked Dan, he asked politely but not with any sort of familiarity.

When he approached a black man in front of our car with a very expensive watch, shoes and vehicle, he went up, stretched out his hand and acted as if they were long time friends. If I were him, the money of that man would make me more subdued if anything.

Then he went on and it was the same approach, based on the color of the person at the pump. That did not mean all black people gave him money because he was turned away by some. It did make me wonder how this 60+ man came to his conclusions of approach and what was going to be received well from whom.

It made me wonder what his story was. He had an older green truck with handicap plates. He walked with an obvious hip concern and I did not care if he actually needed the money or if it was a scam. I was just glad in that moment I was lucky enough to be in my shoes and not his. :worship:

:rotfl2:Being a Georgian, I really get a kick out of this update!!
Construction and inept construction workers? We've got PLENTY!
I've noticed the signs before, mostly on the way to FL in south GA. We live just north of Atlanta and don't see many around here, but get down to Atl and below and WHOA! Kids don't even have to be able to read to know that those ladies are not dressed right--just ask my kids:rolleyes:.
I don't have a truck, but I do take good care of my mini-van:thumbsup2.
Something I've noticed about Waffle House--doesn't matter what area it's in, it will be a Nascar warp zone, complete with ladies and their Summer teeth. Something about that place draws the best people! Good food fast? Yes, and with some quick and easy people, too!

We had so many similar sights (of course we drove the same road I'm sure throught TN and GA) and I thought similar thoughts at the stripper signs and the construction!! We (especially my car-loving DH) always notice how old the vehicles are with NO RUST!!!

But you put such a humorous spin on it all!!!:lmao:

Call me naive, but I do not know "summer teeth." :confused3

Someday on a road trip, I am going to stop at one of the 200 outlet malls we pass by!! Even though there are three within an hour of my house, (I don't go to those that often either) I always want to stop, but we never do.

SoccerDogWithEars

Ok....I'll be the one to ask.

What in the WORLD are summer teeth? :confused3
And just a p.s. NASCAR is nothin'. IndyCar series is where it's at!!

I find it ironic you mention the smoking, because here in NC they actually passed a state law a couple of years ago banning smoking from all establishments that could be visited by someone under 18 (at least, I think that's the fine print of the law). So when you walk into a restaurant here, you don't get an option. You'll be sitting in non-smoking.

:rotfl: at the car wash. There's one by my house that takes so long to "authorize" your credit card that my mom swears there's a little person inside who has to walk to the bank and ask to see your credit report.

There's also a Versailles (pronounced, as jedijill says, "Ver-sails" in Kentucky. We drove through on the way to Indy. I think we also may have passed Rome too.

Iwant2BAprincess
03-31-2011, 12:56 PM
Georgia has similar smoking bans-all restaurants are non-smoking (inside anyway) our county parks are even tobacco free (no dippin allowed either):cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1: Can you tell I am a proud non-smoker.

Gotta love the summer teeth:lmao:

She was not attractive, looked like a washed up Loretta Lynn after being drug around by a coal cart a few times. She was wearing her fashionable Summer teeth, even though it was clearly only early spring.

I bet she wears white after labor day too cause she is a fashion rebel that way.

Had to laugh at the road signs in Georgia - it's a road trip "hobby" of our family to find weird road signs and I've seen those signs in Georgia on our trips. Our usual road trip sadly isn't to Disney but up North to visit my parents. We drive straight across Pennsylvania and there is one stretch with a lot of "saving" signs - Jesus saves, stop sinning and get saved - I think it's right past the stretch of highway with the adult book stores and fireworks for sale signs!

[B]All of it, although sometimes I do not understand the mentality of people who do not have enough teeth to hold a cigarette in their head, buying more cigarettes instead of buying teeth. :confused3

 I know someone like that. He begs local churches for rent money then goes and spends it on a new cowboy hat. He has no teeth and smokes like a freight train. Someone gave him peanuts for Christmas one year and he threw them down and said "You know I can't eat these!" I just don't get it.

Great update!
Thank you for following along!
I'm on board! Enjoyed your last TR and my mother and I are doing a 4 days Mom/Daughter trip in about a week!I hpe you are having a great time!!!
Since you went to Tutto Italia (we have a late ressie there on our upcoming trip) what would you recommend? My mom and I will be splitting meals because the portions are usually huge.
This may be too late but Baylor and I split the lasagna and it was great but almost too small to share. Every other plate looked massive enough for two. The lasagna came out in it's own little dish by itself.
Reading your TRs just make me want to go on a road trip MORE AND MORE. But Andrew doesn't like driving long distances and it would be hard for me to drive all day. I'm sure I'll be able to convince him one day...
Plan unique stops along the way to make the trip p[art something you look forward to!
Oh my goodness.....The sign for the bar with the back room.....that's my new screen name on msn.

I think many states have those laws but nobody enforces the people standing outside to move away from the entrance so I still smell like an ashtray when I walk into a place when there is 10 people standing outside smoking by the door!

I have learned to simply give without expecting anymore so I am not driven crazy by the what if's. What makes me mad is the people who complain and lie about what you have or buy or spend your money on when they have the choice to do the same and don't. If you spend your money eating out, drinking, smoking, movies, sports games etc...good for you. I hope you enjoy it. Just don't complain how nice my life must be when I spend my money I save on trips. I have several people in my life like that, including my youngest sister and all they can do is whine about what they do not have instead of changing their spending habits so they can have the same if it was a priority.
We always giggle at the Kum N Go gas stations if we drive through Iowa. Can't help it! :rotfl:

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090251.jpg

This sign surprised us!

We took a different route than usual and how I end up arriving at WDW from the back entrance, I have no idea. We thought we were exiting on a toll road and then would have to go through a few towns to the North of WDW and had about 20 minutes left to go.

Instead, we followed the GPS and voila...the back entrance by the landscaping acres and service roads. I don't think we could get here again if we wanted to.

I have to say it was a slight buzz kill. There was no warning, no getting the camera ready and preparing for the ever popular gate shot. No butterflies in the tummy as you know you are getting closer.

It was literally, right before us and we were gobsmacked and then I tried to tell Dan to pull over so I could get a picture of the sign. I thought at first that WDW had put up signs now to get people excited if they were even close to WDW. Then I saw the purple signs and knew we must be on property somehow. It was the oddest thing and I felt like I was in a time warp.

In a few minutes we were entering the gates of POFQ and I was running in to get our room assignment. WE had requested a ground floor, refurbished room close to the pool please! :teacher:

Our room number ended up being:

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090307.jpg

It was great! The view we never cared about and that was a good thing because it was facing the back of the bus Que and service driveway. But it was right around the corner from the entrance to the lobby and food court and the pool was right there as well. A minute walk at max to refill drinks and 3 minutes to pool or laundry. Bus transportation would be a 2 minute walk as well if we took it.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090309.jpg
The courtyard as you walk up to our building from the parking lot.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090308.jpg
Looking straight ahead as we walk out the door and Dan looking constipated!!

The room was redone and I know there is many pics on here you can find to see since I do not think I took many here. My opinion of the refurbished rooms are two fold. First, decor, TV's, curtain to dress behind and more storage space is great.

Second, queen beds are horrible. They are not comfortable at all and when a La Quinta has better beds, Disney better listen up. The bed frames are still the same and meant for a full bed so the mattresses were always sliding or leaving a gap between the head of the bed and the wall. Pillows needed to be wedged there so either your arm or hand did not get smushed. Pillows also fell there often.

The space also meant that every time you moved on the bed, the bed creaked and groaned and your mattress would slam against the wall if you tried to adjust your sleep position in the middle of the night. Whether you were enjoying a romantic couples trip or not, it was going to sound like you were. ;) That first night after we got back from dinner, we thought we had a room at the Playboy mansion! Then we got into bed and figured out that the Hef was not rockin POFQ "old school" above us, beside us and around the corner. It was just weary travelers trying to beat their pillows into submission and hold on for dear life before the mattresses bucked them off. pirate:

We did clean up quick and head out to Garden Grove. I have done my re-cap of that meal on my Food Review.

It is a beautiful hotel and place unless Dan decides to do his impression of the Black Swan.

The next morning we rose early and made it to MK for our first rope drop ever together. I had a day full of surprises for us planned at the GF so we parked there and took the monorail over. I actually made Dan stop the car before he pulled up to the gate so I could get out and explain the purpose of the stop to the guard without Dan finding out. I think the guard started to reach for his Buzz Light Year tazer as I approached on foot, but once I explained the surprise, he was all on board. I got back in the car with Dan and he wished us well with a tip of his hat and we were allowed in the gates.

We made it to the entrance of the Mk with about 5 minutes to spare tops. We saw the train arrive and everybody singing to us and it was great. Not too hot out and an awesome start to the day.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090312.jpg
While we were waiting for it to start, we got our first glimpse of the rude, red flag, tour groups. They decided to wedge in here after this pic was taken and the amount of strollers they had or people did not matter. Even when there was nowhere to go for them, they had to get closer and shove people back.

I wanted to grab the red flag from the leader and run the opposite direction to see if they would follow because none of them were smart enough to realize that following a mad man into a dead end, mob scene, was not good planning.

When it was over, the crowds headed in and we followed slowly, taking in everything and appreciating more than we usually do. We went down the little alley on the right of main street where silhouette portraits are done. We listened to the tap dancers and singers getting instructions from rooms above and read the names of the owners of the stores.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090321.jpg

We went in and got breakfast from the bakery and sat out in that alleyway, admiring the birds and the quiet of the morning. There was another couple doing the same and they said it was their morning oasis every time they come. There are little red tables and chairs and each time we stopped here throughout the trip, it was always empty.

We then shopped the stores on Main Street we found a Soccer Frog statue for Treyner. Dan also surprised me with a gift. I was in tears at his generosity and it is the best thing ever.

What is it you ask???? :confused3

Morning all. I will be working on a large update all day to get this caught up to the food report.

For those not on both threads, I wanted to explain my absence. Two weekends ago a family friend died unexpectedly of a heart attack at 48 years old. He leaves behind a son graduating with Carsyn as well as two younger daughters, one of which was in gymnastics with Carsyn for many years.

Then my friend Vicki whom I told you about, who I have known since second grade, succumbed to stomach cancer on Good Friday after only a December 2010 diagnosis.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/204564_120772101331927_100001974127027_154786_2089 809_o.jpg
I love this picture of her. It was taken at the benefit we had and she wore a hat that said, "Heaven Can Wait."

Her loss is really hard on those close to their family because the trail of young lives cut short is great. Her Dad died of cancer as well in his early forties. Her Mom's second husband died of cancer also not long into the relationship and Vicki's uncle between the losses of these men, was a construction guy who happened to be standing behind a big dump truck one morning at work. The back gate broke on the truck and he was buried alive in topsoil for over twenty minutes before he was dug out. He had suffered loss of oxygen for too long, was brain damaged and died a few months later. Now Vicki and you wonder how much the family can take. Their faith is strong and they are postponing the memorial for a few days to give the family time to gather themselves before they face a huge community wanting to embrace them. I have been asked to write something as a tribute for her and that has simply taken more of a priority than anything else.

I have posted a bit more on the Food TR but quite honestly, it is easier to write there vs. here because it is about food. Food is not attached to emotion like a person is and on here I get to tell a story about a great vacation with my fiance and my youngest son and there is a piece of me that felt selfish and guilty. It also reinforced to me that we all need to take these trips that we love no matter where they are. Spend the weekends playing games and not worrying about the cleaning because at the end of this too short life, all we leave is the moments we took to impact someone else.

I am going to work on loosening up a bit more in life and stop worrying about what I look like and hating pictures of myself because my weight is not where I want it to be. I want to be free enough to act like a kid and not worry that I look dumb at my age when it is just harmless fun. I bought Carsyn a prom dress that was beyond the spectrum of what I thought I would spend because she looked like a Barbie in it and I cried when she walked out of the dressing room and saw how stunning she felt about herself in that huge, pink, ball gown. Totally impractical and perfectly wonderful all rolled into one.

So now that you all are up to speed with some sorrow in our household, it is time to get back to a TR that makes me smile and laugh when I think about it, and I hope you all do as well. I just did not want you to think I had forgotten about this and we will start with....Dan's surprise to me that morning!

So what did Dan spoil me with???

Yep, he got me a Mickey purse! Not just any purse but the newest addition in the Dooney & Bourke line! Now I need to explain that I love handbags. Love the short handles because carrying anything over my shoulder drives me nuts. I do not have broad shoulders to begin with and add a few lb's and you have a non stop dilemma of a purse needing to be hiked up every few seconds. Plus I am short so they never seem to hit me at the right spot when they hang.

I have coveted the Disney line of purses since they came out but none was perfect. Either they had the huge handles or if they were a handbag, the handles were stiff and really thin (I swear I have tried for an hour to come up with another description and all I keep getting is worse things it could be an innuendo for! :lmao:) which would not be comfortable in your hand for long periods of time. So for two years, I longingly look but not totally happy, refused to part with cash for them, knowing I would be driven crazy about what I hated about it.

Then I walked in and saw these new ones on Main Street and was in love!! Bigger handles, roomy handbag in the style I like, colorful zipper and best of all....the pattern was Mickey Balloons!!!! Those darn things make me think of the kids when they were little and just spread a smile on my face. Plus, easy clean material so it will not look trashed in a few weeks!

Literally I had tears in my eyes when I ran to Dan to show him and figured I would save for a while and order it later. I was just so happy I found one I loved 100%. Then Dan, grabbed it from me, inspected it and said, "You love it?"

I looked up at those beautiful eyes and assured him this was the one I had been searching for and went to take it from him to put it back. He said, "Nope. You love it, you are getting it." :worship:

Now it could be that he was just sick of me brooding over the inadequacies of the other purses I have came upon over the last few years at WDW. It also might have something to do with the fact he is even more sick of me at the Coach outlet we stop at, where I spend hours fretting over a purse, get it and then at home, decide I am not really happy with it so I will not spend the money on it and then proceed to return it. (This has happened twice and the outlet is 45 minutes away! :rolleyes1)

I though, am going to hold onto the thought that he knows I am selective and not wasteful and have only bought two purses since we have been together (4 years) so he thoroughly enjoyed spoiling me in a spur of the decision moment because he likes to see me smile and act like he is the best thing since sliced bread. ;)

The CM asked if we wanted to have it shipped back to our hotel and I told her if she thought I was going to let that purse disappear for two days, she had lost her last Chip N Dale nut!

We walked hand in hand down Main Street and grabbed a monorail to go back to The Grand Floridian and enjoy the afternoon. We had bought a beach bag which was the going deal with a purchase over $35 and stopped back at the car to leave the purse, grab our suits and put them in the bag. Dan still did not know what his surprise was and as we walked the grounds after grabbing our beach stuff from the car, I may have led him astray and to a small coronary.

He asked what it was. I asked him if he had nay ideas. He said he thought we were getting our pictures taken.

I acted upset he had guessed it and said we were doing before and after photos on the beach in our suits. When we came in October, the after ones would be taken. pirate:

He started to turn pale and sweat.

He looked at me and pleaded for the truth.

He pulled out his, "I am getting uncomfortable," card which normally means he has no control about a situation and is ready to flee. Like a claustrophobic in a tanning booth!

Was I ready to give in yet?

Heck no!!!

I said, "Come on! It will be fun! Like the Biggest Loser goes WDW. If I can do it, you can do it."

He then looked like he may indeed pass out. His palms were sweaty and his face was looking more and more sallow.

So I decided to get him out of his misery pit and tell him the truth. Which originally would have been something he would not have been "comfortable" with either but compared to a photo shoot in a swimsuit on a beach, was not so bad!

See, my evil ploy was really out of good intention!

I pointed him to the walkway sign and he said, "We are going to the health spa aren't we?"

"Yup," I answered excited. "You have been traveling non stop for months, been on the road for a week and then drove to Florida in two days without any real rest. You deserve to be pampered and I knew you would never agree to a massage on your own, so we are getting a couples massage!" :woohoo:

He did breathe a sigh of relief he would not be the centerfold for the next, "WDW GQ," and asked more about what he was walking into.

I explained I had called a few weeks before, to inquire about massages for him and found they offered a couples massage with aromatherapy that would have us in the same room. That we could enjoy the spa's steam room, hot tub, workout room and sauna alone as those were strictly in same sex areas but the massage would be together.

He seemed to let this sink in and as we approached the GF Spa, I held his very macho hand as we walked past a lawn crew of men, not getting pampered anytime soon. I felt like I was staking Grizzly Adams to get his beard shaved off! :rotfl:

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090329.jpg

We walked in the doors and was greeted warmly by a swanky desk and a CM who had someone lead us to our individual areas. We were early enough to have an hour to unwind in the spa, soak in the hot tub, steam room or sauna and get ready for muscle relaxation. She informed us we would be reunited when our time for the massage was here. Dan took his bag and suit and looked like he was Dead Man Walking! He turned to wave goodbye to me and I felt like a Momma, dropping off her kid at his first day of Kindergarten. He was not sure what to think of this takeover of his life at all! :lmao:

The guest area for women had a lobby with couches, chairs, water, tea and fruit to enjoy. Low lighting and magazines were the accompanying touches and I was given slippers and a robe. I put my clothes in the free locker provided and changed into my swim suit.

On the phone, I had been told that swimsuits were not mandatory in the spa facilities but I seriously do not want to walk into a sauna and see some woman's baby feeders hanging on her knee caps nor do I want mine, floating on the surface of a hot tub, saying hello to whoever walks in. So I brought a suit and the women who were in the area with the steam room etc., were only sitting on the edge of the tub, hiking their robes up, because they did not feel comfortable either just walking around all neked like it was a gyno day at the fair.

When I had about fifteen minutes left before our appointment time, I changed into my robe and slippers and sat on the couch with 8 women, all having a pedi/mani fest for a wedding. They asked what I was getting and when I told them, they thought it sounded romantic and really neat.

I wish I could say it was.

You see after I was brought into the hallway to meet with Dan and we picked which type of aromatherapy we wanted (There was 4 to choose from, including one with no scent so I am not sure how that is aromatherapy? :confused3) we were led into a room that was literally two separate rooms with a Moroccan style curtain dividing them, that they had simply pulled back to allow us to see one another. There had to be fifteen feet between the two massage tables. It was not exactly the romantic experience I envisioned, holding hands and talking while getting our knots worked on! In fact I would have had to talk louder than at a restaurant for him to hear me at all or vice versa because at least at a restaurant you are only a few feet apart.

So they left us alone for a few minutes to get ready on the table, Dan started face down, me face up and the massage therapists, came in through the doors into each room because again, these rooms are usually individual rooms. Did I mention it cost more to book a couples massage because it allows a more "intimate" experience?

Now for the massage review. It was nice. It was a massage. It was not mind blowing, make you say ahhhhhh and never let me back into the real world type of massage. I have had several massages and they were as good, some better than this.

For a lot less of the price mind you. Yes it is at WDw where everything costs more but usually I do not feel like I got ripped off. In fact a massage at Vero Beach one year, still is one of the best ever and I would have paid more if it was asked. The only saving grace was that we did get a discount due to DVC.

The other memory that was well worth the money was that Dan, who was all stressed out having another woman touch him, fell asleep 10 minutes into the massage. :rotfl2:

That's right, all of a sudden I heard him snore and just started laughing. So much for "I won't be able to relax."

This also made me sure I would never allow him to get a massage on his own, alone because some woman could have their way with him and he would never know the difference! ;)

So there I lay, knowing I paid booco bucks for a mediocre rub down and a nap for Dan! Every time I started relaxing, he snored louder and I wanted to jump across the room and wake his butt up to make sure he enjoyed every dollar of his "torture!"

Seriously, it was overall okay. We both agreed nothing we would do again there but maybe at home for a reasonable price. We did feel pretty good after it was over. I went back and took a steam shower for ten minutes then met Dan in the lobby after getting dressed. As we we walked into the sunlight, we noticed while we were inside, the grounds had been finished and we were amazed at the speed they planted the gardens around WDW.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090330.jpg

We also appreciated the grounds of the GF.

The hill here is actually right by the tennis courts and as we approached, a heard of people came out of the trees and started walking down the hill like it was an every day occurrence. They were all CM's and some were dressed in heals. They proceeded to make there way down the hill to a manhole in the grass and point to the beach. It was just odd. :confused3

Next up...Back to MK & getting Baylor!

I am hopint to do the couples massage on the Disney Cruise in november. Now maybe I will just go for the couples room?
I would hate to spend that kind of money on a massage and then not like it.

I am the same way about handbags! I always hate to spend a lot and not love the bag. What a lovely thing for Dan to do for you. Your gift of the couples massage was great too. Too bad it wasn't all you had hoped for. At least Dan relaxed!

If you like the spa thing and want an awesome couples getaway, you MUST go to the Sundara in Wisconsin Dells. That is the best place I have ever been to in my entire life. I have had 2 massages there, a haircut and masque and a pedi. OMG. OMG. Did I mention OMG???

Oh yeah, LOVE the purse!!!! I may have to check them out again when we go. I got a wristlet last trip, but I heard your purse calling my name.

We did the couples massage during our honeymoon. It was NOT at all what we expected. We were so disappointed. I thought they would have improved that in the last 7 years. So sorry you fell victim to it too.

That purse is so cute!

Sorry about all of the losses in your life recently.

baby feeders :rotfl2: I've never heard that one before!

I'm sorry the couple's massage was not all you hoped it would be.

The bag is B-E-A-U-TIFUL! I love it!

I thought long and hard about getting a D&B messenger bag but so far haven't been willing to part with the funds to get one. I keep telling myself that it would be better to put that cash towards the next Disney trip so I keep taking it back out of my online shopping cart. :lmao:

Maybe one day though...

Sorry to hear of you loss...my grandfather died just before Easter and I turned to food for comfort but I think I have a handle on thing now and not too much damage was done to my waistline thankfully!

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

So very sorry for your loss. Lots of hugs and prayers from NC.

I'm kind of glad to hear the it's not worth the money to go to the spa at the GF, because it's something that's always tempted me. Course, now I have a DBF who has massage therapist experience, so....I can enjoy it at home!

My suggestion is to get over to the cruise thread and ask if anyone has done a massage on a cruise and seek their advice. As for the GF, I would never get another one, individual or couples!

Dan's relaxing is a compliment to a masseur, like belching is to a German chef! :lmao:

Did you complain? The masseurs asked how it was once we re-robed and were in the hallway but that is not the place for me to tell them I thought it was okay but not worth the money. Being half neked does not make one feel like they have much desire to be confrontational!!! :lmao:

Thanks a lot. They played a video with all these pics from even her as a child and it's hard to believe her Dad has been gone for almost thirty years and was not there for her to get married, have kids etc., and now she will leave that same hole in her children's lives.

Well....ok!
I met Joe at a St. Patrick's Day party, and we just sort of hit it off. Then we found out that he only lives about 20 minutes away from me, so for that weekend he offered to give me a ride home since we were both going. The ride home was pretty chill because it was late, but the ride back to Gville was hilarious. He had me literally rolling in my seat. Then that night I found out he worked as a massage therapist at the local YMCA for a while, and he proceeded to give me a full body massage, and then drew me a bath in his jacuzzi tub. With candles along the edge. I was completely sold after that. We've been dating a little over a month now, officially. Here's a picture of us at a local festival we went to last weekend.

Leaving the Grand Floridian grounds, we walked back into the main hotel lobby and noticed the detailed mosaic's on the ground. No matter how many times I go to WDW, there is always a new discovery at every turn.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090338.jpg

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090348.jpg

We then went to the podium for the GF Tea and asked if we might be seated earlier than our scheduled time. They said no, we walked around a few shops and as we passed them again, they remembered our request and said they had a No Show, so we enjoyed our tea half an hour early!

***AGAIN if you want thorough, detailed and glorious food reviews, please see the FOOD Review TR link on the first post and here it is again for those who do not want to look for it!
Oh Sweet Mother of Bread Pudding!!! (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2668690)

After our tea, we looked around the lobby and saw a slightly off balanced woman, enjoying the dancing of two young girls and piano playing of the house pianist. If this is your Grandmother, Mother or Dear Auntie, please know I do not mean to poke fun. I did home health care for people with Alzheimer's a long time ago, and my clients when lucid, would make me laugh more than anyone ever has, at their witty thoughts on their life.

I am not sure what this woman's health issues were but she did love her stuffed animals and she was alone in the lobby for a long time so at some level she must be functional. (Assuming nobody would just park a senior citizen and head out to MK for the day...but then again, maybe some people would!)

She donned a wig, slightly off center, a big red shawl and perhaps may have looked like Loretta Lynn's twin if she had one. She was tiny. Her shopping cart, dolly thing a ma bob, was chalk full of stuffed animals. Maybe she lives close by and just comes to hang out and enjoy the afternoons in the lobby. I could think of worse places to be!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090350-1.jpg

The girls dancing were just having a blast and the youngest one, about three, was twirling in circles and doing swooping hand gestures to the delight of everyone around!

We headed back to the monorail and decided to hit MK for a few hours before we had to get Baylor. Once through the gates, we were shocked at the hoochie Mama skirts/shorts some girls were wearing.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090352.jpg

I have three teens/young adults but let me tell you that if my daughter's thong was sticking out the bottom of her skirt, she would need to make room for my foot while she walked!

Let alone the fact her brother's would have never allowed her to leave the house. Even Treyner, does not like it when his girlfriends wear less out in public, than they might to a pajama party. Bottom line, everyone has a teensy bit of cellulite in their thighs and wearing something with as much coverage as a bikini leaves nothing to the imagination and only accents your flaws.
Okay - enough of the Mom lecture but sheesh!

We managed to enter MK just as a train was pulling up! Miraculously, the two of us were able to run and jiggle our way to the platform before the train left and ride around to Frontierland! I love that train ride. Smells like old fashioned fun and seeing the back of many attractions, never gets tiresome to me.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090353.jpg

There were loads of Mallard's, nesting and just hanging about in Frontierland. I am a nature lover through and through minus spiders and 110 degree camping! I could watch ducks and geese all day and when we move and get a hobby farm, there will be ducklings and goslings every spring!!! One of my favorite colors if I had to pinpoint a few, is that iridescent green on a male Mallard's head. I have never figured out why God made all the male birds attractive and the female ones plain! Then again, I have not figured out a lot of things on his master plan!!

We were amazed at how packed the place was since we had left Main Street that morning. It was after 4 p.m. now and wall to wall people around Splash Mountain. I hate this area of the park and one area I think they should improve upon somehow. It is so darn congested with Splash Mountain Que and release, families waiting who do not ride, gift shop traffic, train load and unload plus just the traffic gawkers. TOO MANY PEOPLE and many not very happy after being there all day, and so we dodged out and got in line for Tom Sawyer's Island.

Dan said he had never been on it and I had only once, many years ago when the kids were little. The raft ride over is an adventure in itself because you have to stand and if you are not steady on your feet, you may just land in your neighbors backside!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090356.jpg

Dan had to use the facilities upon arrival and to get even with the picture of me, heading out of the women's lavatory at the Little Brown Church, I snapped a photo of him at his finest!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090357.jpg

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090358.jpg
Again, the attention to detail, while I waited, was so neat in the porch area by the restrooms. Love the baskets!

Once we were on our way, I told Dan of the paint brush mystery, That according to WDW legend, they hide a few paintbrushes every morning on the island and you get some type of award if you are the lucky finder of one.

Now please know, that I, not Dan, does most of the research for our WDW trips. I read, peruse, scan and devour what I can to help the intrigue and fun of our trips. He had not heard of the paint brush, nor would he ever had known of the paint brush, until I mentioned it as small talk.

Literally, two seconds later, Dan, bends down behind a drinking fountain and pulls a paint brush out of his....er...I mean "from" some leaves which were partially covering it!!!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090359.jpg

I mean seriously!!! He would never have know, thought of or looked for a darn paint brush and if I would have told him a few seconds later, he would have passed it already. Literally it was two seconds after my detail filled diatribe and now, he held it like a big two year old, who found Willy Wonka's Golden ticket!

I did not know whether to clobber him or hug him. He even offered to let me claim it as my victory but I don't accept pity paint brushes Thank You!

We walked on, looking at the river boat people, who were not realizing they had Veruca Salt's brother in their midst!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090360.jpg

So many great photo opportunities on the Island!!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090361.jpg

We played a game of checkers and I called Mek to tell her about the lucky guy and she could not believe either that it was about 5:00 p.m. and any was still left to be found! At this point, he was getting to be cocky and I warned him I also knew of a great hiding place for the paint brush!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090362.jpg

As we walked back to catch a raft to shore, we stopped and took a pic of the lucky water fountain from where he learned about the paint brush. You can see just how far he had to look once he knew what he was looking for!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090363.jpg

On the raft ride over, people who knew of the paint brush legend, kept asking him all these questions and even asked to take his picture with it. One lady, smacked her husband on the arm and said, "See I told you I knew there was paint brushes!" Then she proceeded to tell our raft of castaways that he had not believed her and she was sooooo glad she could hold this over his head of the benefit to WDW research!!

Once ashore, we told the CM what we found, again, she was amazed at the late time of the day, and awarded us with two free Fast Passes for life!!!!

Okay...not really. It was two free fast passes for one ride that day!

The other would have been much better huh!!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090364.jpg

We took our FP's and went on Splash Mountain, after buying a Coke at the gift shop because we needed a bag for the camera and they will not give you a plastic bag unless you purchase something!

We were seated in the front and I knew we were going to get soaked. I also knew the poor suck'as with us were not appreciating the weight of the situation.

Literally!

Ummm...you had me at Massage! :lmao:

I am really happy for you and he looks like he loves spending time with you by that smile!! Cute couple! I hope you both have a happy future and may it work out for a long time! Who needs the dating craziness???

Guess what? Treyner and Taylor just broke up :sad1:....long distance with no moving for either of them in the distant future is just too hard right now...maybe later but for now, they are just friends.

Timing is never right for you two!! :lmao:

She donned a wig, slightly off center, a big red shawl and perhaps may have looked like Loretta Lynn's twin if she had one. She was tiny. Her shopping cart, dolly thing a ma bob, was chalk full of stuffed animals. Maybe she lives close by and just comes to hang out and enjoy the afternoons in the lobby. I could think of worse places to be!

Serious, they broke up??? No way!!! That makes me sad... :sad1: They were so cute together!!! And Taylor didn't mind having her picture taken while she was shaving her arm pits!!! (Spring Break trip last year, I think) That alone should have told Treyner that she was a keeper!!! :lmao:

There is some big hurdles ahead for them to be together. Taylor is in beauty school through January, then has the opportunity to shadow and then take over a salon she has worked for before with a built in clientele. She also does not want to move form AZ and feels being away from her family would be too hard.

Treyner wants to own his own landscape design company with snow plowing in the winter. The idea of being out in the heat and humidity of an AZ summer is not appealing, plus there is the factor of lack of snow! Landscape design is more limited due to climate in AZ and he fears he would end up hating it. He is also leery of being dependent on Taylor's family if they stayed close. They are very wealthy and he does not want to assume they will pave the way for them if they married/stayed together.

He is a young man who wants to build his success on his own and Taylor has had the luxury of a life without having to really struggle for a lot. There is some major fundamental differences in those two thought processes and Taylor cannot tell him she would not turn to her family first if the going got tough, vs, trying to dig there way out of whatever they might be in first.

We had a long talk over Christmas with them both and I asked some questions of both of them that I think they had been ignoring or assuming and with wedding talk/marriage/engagement on the horizon, not agreeing on where to live, work priorities and family dynamics were huge red flags and as much I hate to see either of them hurting, it was good they discovered huge differences now, not ten years from now, hating their lives with two kids in tow. I had found a website that asked all these questions about where you should live based on what is important to you (dining, sports, college venues, arts/entertainment/leisure activity, type of schools etc.) and they were polar opposite in almost everything minus type of house. I had each of them do it on their own and then read aloud the questions and compare answers. Treyner was mountain living, warm summers, light winters and many states to choose from. Taylor's state was AZ or CA and she hates winter. Does not want to live in any cold or snow.

Ummmm...Houston, we might have a problem!

That was Dec. and she moved back to AZ mid Jan. They spent a week in March together and that has been it. A lot of time to reflect on the reality of the relationship and not so much the physicality of it.

Who knows. Maybe time apart will make them both want to compromise but the living situation is huge. Treyner can move from TN, MN, WA, VT, etc., for his career, we would support him and visit etc., no matter where he lives. Taylor only felt AZ was an option for now and her family would love her close by as well so I don't know if that will ever be a different circumstance. She is young at 18 and he is only 20 so a lot can change between now and when he graduates in three years. :thumbsup2

I'm having a rough week. Last night, they killed off my fav character on my show and now today...I find out Treyner and Taylor broke up. It's like one bad soap opera!!

Seriously though, what a shame. I hope they are handling it well. Breakups suck even when they are amicable.

THAT was one SHORT skirt. My question is...what happens when she sits down? I mean, a skirt that length is pretty much a belt then, isn't it?

DD and I have had several discussions about clothing and modesty and she's got a pretty good handle on what is acceptable and what isn't...however, she's only seven so I'm hoping that information doesn't leak out her ear when she hit's 13!! A skirt that short on his baby girl would give DH a stroke.

We had a blast on Tom Sawyer Island in January but we completely forgot to look for paintbrushes. My kids had so much fun they kept asking why we'd never tried that particular attraction before...as if it was somehow MY fault we'd never done it before!

I've read other TR's with the stuffed animal lady in them...from what I remember the CM's claim she's sort of a permanent fixture at the GF. She's a local and this is the way she's chosen to spend her twilight years. Did you talk to her or just observe?

I'm looking forward to riding the train on our next trip without the cursed strollers. The train would be so much more enjoyable if I didn't have the handle of a collapsible stroller digging a hole in my kneecap. I have determined that our next Disney trip will be stroller free!!

We've already begun "training" the kids for long walks...we've started with 2 miles and we're going to build from there over the course of the summer. I refuse to bring the strollers next trip and I need to make sure the kids can cover the appropriate amount of ground on their own two feet.

Thanks for the pics of Splash Mountain. We had to give it a pass on our last trip...it's just too cold in January to walk around soaking wet...come to think of it...it may have been undergoing a refurb at that time anyway. I can't remember for sure but either way...we skipped it. But a good shot of Br'er Bear's hiney makes up for our loss!

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao::laughing:

Can't wait for the next installment!

Wow...I'm so sorry to hear about Treyner and Taylor. Hee hee, I can see it now: "I'm sorry Joe, it's not gonna work, Treyner's single now...." Except there is the always needed single period, and I am quite happy right now. But please give Treyner my regards. Breakups are never easy. I went through a lot of the same with my Taylor...we had dated 2 1/2 years, but when it got down to it, he didn't really want to move anywhere far away from his family, and in the hospitality field I knew that where I'd eventually end up was kind of up in the air. Course, I'm still hoping it's in good ol' Orlando!!!

Joe is really great. He takes pictures like you do. Most of the pictures we have when we go places are his doing. Of course, a month into it, there's no need to worry about engagement/marriage or any of that. We're just taking it one day at a time and seeing where it goes. A lot will depend on what job he lands for the summer and where he'll be. Not that I'm any stranger to distance (I don't say long because of course Taylor only lived 2 hours away...not half a country).

Every trip we take I am constantly amazed at the wardrobe choices of some females. My dad said he was in MouseGear one time and saw a girl pull the straps of her thong up so that they were showing over the waistband of her already showing it shorts. :sad2: I will admit that on hot days here on campus I might walk out in something a little bit shorter than normal, but I was raised right and if I'm going to be in public, or a family atmosphere, and I make sure I'm covered. That and I'm just uncomfortable without knowing I have ample support...I know how those Florida thunderstorms can bring tons of water and tons of wind.

I'm sorry about Treyner and Taylor but you are right it is better to find out now than in a few years time. DS is in his first year at university and he told me Sunday in our weekly phone call that he had just broken up with his girlfriend, apparently it was a mutual decision but it is hard when I know he is now on his own and we won't see him again for a couple of months.

After pulling our wet underwear/shorts from places it should never want to be, we squished through the hoards gathered at the exit to Splash Mountain and wormed our way towards Adventureland. Dan was hankerin for some Dole Whip but did not know he would get a side of smoke to go with it!

This has to be the dumbest area for a smoking section in all of WDW. The spot across from the Dole Whip stand in MK. If people hate the smell of smoke, are offended by smoke, simply do not want to risk their lives by second hand smoke or any other myriad of reasons smoking is limited to certain areas, why would Disney assume a food designated place by frozen delicacies would be ideal for smokers??

There is seating aplenty, with all these glorious trees, blooming for spring in concrete containers with benches all around. Perfect spot to sit except you may end up kissing a stranger through the smoke smog when you realize your husband got up to use the biffy and some random guy named Bert took his place.

The trees though were spectacular. I closed my eyes and pretended I was in Japan. Then opened them and instead of a cute lady in a Kimono, found a gypsy troupe of pirates, happy to try and expand the designated smoking boundaries without a permit from the city.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090383.jpg

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090384.jpg

It is just impossible to enjoy anything when you are being overwhelmed by smoke. I know smokers have rights too, blah blah blah, shut up. Bottom line is this, smoking does mean your choice has an immediate consequence for my life when you light up. Want to chew? Go ahead and chew away, just spit your crud in appropriate places and I am golden.

Smoking though, leaves behind a trail of smell that you do not intend to impact others with but nonetheless, absolutely does. I would be talked to if I sat in one designated spot and sprayed some strong knock off perfume like Giorgio (brings back memories of 7th grade and a Wham tape!), non stop with 30 of my closest friends and the haze of stank left over, you would have to walk through. How happy would you be trying to explain to your wife that you were not out with a lady of the evening, no matter what you smell like, you simply were the victim of a spritz of stink.

It gets on your clothes, your hair, eyes, nostrils and even food. So do I care if you choose to smoke, no, it is your choice. But until they come up with some new technology that eliminates the second hand crap your choice makes me sit in, walk through and inhale, WDW needs to figure out where to put smoking areas that are more isolated or ban them totally.

I also think that WDW should do a B.O. test. If you happen to visit and did not shower or apply underarm help, then go back to the hotel in which you came from because I do not want to stand next to your buttcrack smellin pits while waitin to ride IASW. :snooty:

If Stitch's chili cheese dog breath smells like flowers next to your under arms, I say, be gone!! :wave2: :rotfl2:

Literally, I went to blow my nose 20 minutes later with napkins Dan had picked up while getting his Dole Whip. The napkin reeked like smoke because it is not one person smoking, it is a herd and I smelled like I had just done a pup crawl in Dublin when I took a whiff of my purse, the napkin had been in.

There was construction going on at this time as well so most of the pathway back to Cinderella's castle was blockaded and we all were funneled past the smokers in even a tighter area then normal which had not helped anyone trying to get past quickly.

The castle looked subdued in the early evening light.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090386.jpg

The flowers by Casey's were just amazing with a color pallet from any small town City Hall lawn, in the summer.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090388.jpg

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090389.jpg

In fact, the CM playing tunes outside, had a receptive audience and I wondered why this type of entertainment works here, but in the real world, would be scoffed at if he had been playing outside an ice cream parlor in most downtown's. Personally, I would love it but I know many would complain of the noise or type of music vs. just enjoying the fact that music can actually come from a musician and not a recording on an I-pod!

We were really bushed at this point and wanted to relax a bit before we picked up Baylor so we headed back to the GF, drove to POFQ and found our room had been cleaned and made better with the help of a towel animal! :wizard:

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090397.jpg

Again, the POFQ is so quaint and it is so easy to just head over to the dining area and get a re-fill that you tend to use those mugs more than you might at a bigger resort. I got a re-fil while Dan got a text from Baylor saying he was just landing in Chicago. :scared1:

He was supposed to already have landed and departed so we knew his 10 p.m. arrival was a long ways off. Turns out he would not get in until midnight and so I went back to grab him some food because all the dining options would be closed when he arrived.

I was excited to have him join us and so I could not sleep but Dan did manage to catch a few Z's.

The ride to the airport was wet but we made good time as the roads were pretty deserted. Baylor called to let us know which door he was at and I have to say that at 15, he has traveled more than I ever did at that age and is not intimidated by airports, getting lost or just about anything. He would do well on Amazing Race! People ask if I get nervous with him traveling alone and that answer is no, minus changing planes. If he had to do that, I might get a bit apprehensive but strictly because he has a horrible time management issue and I fear he would wander off and miss his connecting! This trip, he id have one stop but did not need to change planes.

Baylor looked exhausted and as he munched on the pizza I bought him, he told Dana and I about this cop he sat next to on the plane who doled out a few big tales of life on the force. I think he may have taken some embellishments on his versions of life with a badge but Baylor was enjoying hearing the stories and his eyes widened telling us a second time around. Totally a boy thing and right up his alley. :thumbsup2

We crashed almost immediately at the hotel. Baylor thought the refurbishments were nice but agreed the beds were lacking in comfort. He had thought he might want to try out the hot tub but all he ended up trying out was the pillow! ;)

The next morning was our day at AK and we planned on making rope drop. I set the alarm at 2 a.m. and knew, rope drop was not happening. The forecast was for rain and I figured, sleep was more important than anything if we were going to be sloshing around in the most humid of parks. The call would wake us up at 8:00 a.m. and the only question would it be Mickey or Stitch on the other end? :confused3

Well I have to send a BIG thank you heavenward then...I had NO IDEA there was a smoking section that close to Aloha Isle. When it comes to cigarette smoke (because I am highly allergic perhaps) I have a BIONIC sense of smell and although I waited in line for ages in January for the golden goodness I didn't have that particular complaint to make.

What's the link for that website you told Taylor and Treynor to use? I wonder if they have one that works for Canada, or maybe even the world!

It sucks to hear about them breaking up though. They looked like such a nice couple.

Wow, I've never noticed that the area is right in front of the Dole Whips. I thought the smoking areas were always tucked away some place that was out of sight. I wonder why this one isn't. Last minute planning?

I'm glad Baylor got to MCO alright. I made my first connecting flights on my last WDW trip without my parents and -I- was nervous, even though Andrew was there with me.

My mom's friend passed away recently from cancer as well. She had kids that were my siblings' ages.

We....woke up and showered and I promise this was the first moment I knew that there are perks to having one teen child along for the ride.

There were only three to get showered.

There were only three to get food for.

There were only three to try and find lost shoes in a hotel room the size of our living room even though we all swore we lined our shoes up the night before in the proper shoe place. :rolleyes1.

There was no banging on the bathroom door, threatening evil things if one certain girl who shall remain nameless does not hurry up.

There was no trying to make your younger brother into a human pretzel simply because you can.

There was no annoying sounds emanating from a 20 year old who thinks it is seriously funny to drag my name out for three minutes to try and stay in bed longer, even though from his bellering, it is perfectly clear he is, indeed...AWAKE!!! Meanwhile I still can hear the nightmares fresh in my noodle of...."Maaaaaahhhhhhhmmmmm........we are on vacatshhhhhhoooooooonnnnnnnnnnn...why do we have to get up so earllllllllllllllyyyyyyyeeeeeeee????????"

Nope it was just me, who picked up the phone and hung it up as soon as I heard Stitch's voice, crawled out of bed, realized there were no dogs to let out, no breakfast to make, no laundry to switch and just could meander to the bathroom, get a nice shower and be dressed before I woke up Dan to jump in while I applied the face.

Baylor is my kid who goes to bed when he is tired and gets up when he knows something is going on for the day, unless he is exhausted. He is looking forward to being the only kid at home next year just because he will not have to wait on Carsyn to be ready to get to school. He is up, showered and having breakfast while she is just jumping in, every single morning.

The three of us knew that this day would be cool out and rainy compared to the rest of the week but better than 110 degrees in the shade with AK smelling like a hippo's hinney!

We stopped by the food court to grab some grub and split an order of beignets and biscuits and gravy. Then, we jumped in the car and took off for AK, wishing we had known were the heck our poncho's were from 2008 still!! (When I find the darn bin I put them in I am gonna scream!)

We had rented from the library a book called, The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World by Susan Veness. There are a few small details that were wrong due to ever changing Disney details but overall I liked the book. There were some things I knew before, had forgotten and were glad to be reminded of. Some new things I adored and I just like knowing intricate details of why things were done how they were done. We tried to cram in some fast facts before we went to AK and also read some throughout the day when we took a break. Baylor really enjoyed looking for things we read about. I think it helped him appreciate the park with a new perspective.

Our first stop was It's Tough to be a Bug and we had nobody jamming us from behind, so we slowed down and really noticed some animals we had never seen, or closely appreciated before.

(So many animals in this picture!! A fish, bird, cobra, crab, meercat, part of an Octopus tentacle on the bottom right!)

The show was as good as always and I hate getting poked by the darn bugs even when I know it is coming! I also scream my head off when those darn arachnids drop from the ceiling!! The park was empty at that point so we were able to sit middle of the row and nobody cared!

We had enough time to get right into a bird show as it was starting and I had not been to one in a few years. Again, it was good, made you laugh and appreciate nature as well as duck when the winged wonders flew within inches of your bean!

I saw the red eyes and heard the popular, scare the BeetleJuice out of you, notes from The Omen!

We had time when it was over to ride Everest and Baylor and I teamed up which left Dan solo!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090422.jpg

The book we read was really insightful about this part of AK. When you go head from one part to another, the mode of transportation will develop in front of your feet. From bike tracks to foot prints, where you are is told in stories I never noticed before. We had learned the significance in the ceremonial flags flying at the base of Everest and that the amount of logs on a roof, shows the wealth of the family living under it. I wish we had read more of it and need to just buy the darn thing!

The yetti was AWOl on our trip and so we missed that piece to the ride but I still say the backwards portion makes me just as fearful as the beast!

Next, we hit Y&Y for some lunch and a dry respite for an hour!

I feel badly for all the people who get so excited about their "amazing safari ride" because it means some of the rides they've had have NOT been amazing!

We have an awesome experience EVERY time we ride so for the longest time I thought that it was the norm rather than the exception...the DIS has taught me better!

So excited that you had an amazing safari ride and were able to enjoy the lighter crowds in the park.

Can't wait for more....

Have you been to the National Eagle Center in Wabasha? There are 4-5 eagles on hand at all times. You can get pretty close to them & they have an hour long seminar type thing you can go to. Not worth a trip on its own but if you're in the area its really cool. It's right on the Mississippi so it's nice to take a lunch along as well.

If you love the eagles, next time you come to E. TN you need to go to Dollywood, they have an entire Eagle enclosure there. A lot of eagles are rehabbed in E. TN to be released into the wild, and those that cannot be released are used for education stuff. Super cool (even though I have major bird issues, so just keep them away from me!)

Woo-hoo! So happy to find a new Dawn TR! Having fun catching up! (And if you ever want to visit the real FQ, let me know! I only live an hour away!)

BTW, what happened to the Skinny Island group? I'm finally pretty well recovered from my back surgery in December, and trying to get back on the bandwagon, but couldn't find it anywhere. The last subscribed link I had didn't have any activity since March I think.

You let those two cutie pies know that if it's meant to be, it will be. My husband and I dated in college and then broke up for a year due to some 'growing pains.' We got back together, had our Disney wedding, and have been married for 4 years this July :goodvibes

Morning all! I hope I can get some time today to write responses and get some new posts done! Plus then I can get back to the food TR since they will be at the same spot.

Treyner got home Saturday morning, started back to work 20 minutes later and it has been a whirlwind of trying to get him situated, unpacked AGAIN, soccer, rugby and the biggest pain of all....carpet cleaning.

We had a expensive company come out four weeks ago, short story, they were not effective in some issues we had, had a mgr come out, he sent a specialist out on Saturday, only to have that specialist say we need to remove tack strips that got wet and some padding. Prom is this Saturday and they cannot get here until Monday. We have moved furniture now twice in the basement and on Sunday will need to move it for a third time out of the basement and take apart the full size air hockey table that weighs a million pounds to get it in the garage. Not happy.

Treyner is not keeping an apartment next year so we are trying to figure out what of his to keep and sell, since I also do not have room to store a whole ton of stuff with a grad party in June. He is also taking 2 more classes this summer, Algebra and Psychology and the first week was due yesterday in Psych because they started it before they even finished finals! DUMB!

Oh yeah...we are getting married the first week of July.

I have no dress. The boys have no pants...I am not sure I am even thrilled with their shirts we have! The only person 100% ready is Carsyn. :rotfl: We do have candles though...well technically the votives, still need candles and we have songs picked out. My sister is going to do the officiating so I better get on that one!

T-Lenz.....send me the info would ya about how you got official at officiating please!!!! :worship:

Have I mentioned how crazy I was to have it less than three weeks after a graduation party?????

Then there is the detail that Treyner''s roomate from college, who is from England, is arriving on a plane tonight for two weeks and my house is torn apart because of the stupid carpet guys!!!!

This outta be fun! I do like the fact we will have more man labor here for the next two weeks though for some big landscaping projects!!! :lmao:

Then, as soon as I was happy about that...I remember Dan is leaving Monday for a week for more travel. So really, Ady is just a break even! ;)

Off to make breakfast for the kiddo's! Hashbrowns, pancakes and eggs! popcorn::

Not for me though - Dan and I are really doing well on our, "less food in the trapper," goal! Down 5 pounds since Sunday so yeah who for me!!! :yay:

YukiPhnx
05-12-2011, 06:39 PM
Wow, your life sounds so hectic right now! Hope the carpet thing get settled faster.

I did ITTBAB once.....and that was more than enough. I love all those close up shots of the animals though.

A graduation party? That sounds like so much fun! It's not really something that's done in my family. We go out to dinner with the extended family members and they all gave me grad money.

Ooh, can you put up a pic of Carsyn's prom dress?

It's so good to hear your making progress on your weight loss! Andrew and I are trying to get more fit, so we're going to start training for a 5k run, which is like...1/8 of a marathon. I'm hoping to one day run in the Princess Half Marathon.

We took the kiddies to see ITTBAB on our first trip. :sad2: What a mistake!! They were permanently traumatized...though DH and I thought the attraction was a hoot. We each had a child on our lap with their head firmly burrowed in our chests for nearly the entire show. No hysterics thankfully, but we don't even suggest the show nowadays. Wonder how old they'll need to be before we can suggest it again?

I didn't particularly like getting poked in the spine...I think I'll sit forward a bit when that part comes up if I'm ever able to go do that one in the future.

I'm loving Dan's face in his rednecked Yeti photo...too funny!

We loved Yak and Yeti when we went last year. Such cool decor!! And the food was good too.

Hope things settle down for you soon (like that EVER happens  ) so you can get back to updating soon!

UGH!!!! Lost a whole huge post after an hour of work!!! I will try an recreate as much as I can. :headache:

Last night Carsyn and Treyner went to prom. Treyner went with Sara, Carsyn's BF whom he also went with his Junior year. Carsyn, went with Adrian. Treyner's BF from college who also is from England and a soccer teammate. The four of them were stunning.

Carsyn, looked and felt amazing and for a girl who often finds herself in her brother's shadow - she was not hiding anymore. It was great as a Mom to see it. Carsyn often finds herself feeling like Treyner with his bravado and over the top charm, will take hold of a room and she is unnoticed.

This worried her because this was her prom. Not his prom.

When she walked out of the rooms he was getting ready in...nobody had to worry she was going to play second fiddle to him - including her. For the first time ever, she was beaming. She was beautiful and SHE knew it.

I cannot tell you how happy and totally sad it made me all at once. There was not a dry eye in the house. Grandparents, aunts, her Dad, Dan and I and even her brothers, were slack jawed.

Treyner, who tends to be funny with her, riding her always about something and never wanting her to forget she is the little sister...told her she looked amazing. I think that made her day and the fact she was excited to head out, show off her dress to her friends and felt like she would be the prettiest in the room, for me was the best gift ever.

The fact that when she arrived at the high school and every girl came rushing over to ask who her date was...didn't hurt either! :lmao:

I will also share that I bawled my way through the whole night, in the dark as the hundreds of couples walked. She is graduating this year and although the brain knew it...the heart caught up.

I sat listening to Skyler, my three year old niece, yelling out a claim of which Disney Princess was walking the runway, based on the color of her dress. Not believing that 14 years since Carsyn was that point, has gone by so fast. Excited for her future and happy she felt that whether at Prom or college, she did not have to stand in Treyner's shadow. She was her own person and side by side they are an amazing pair and will always have each others back.

So I cursed the fact I did not have any Kleenex.

I cursed the fact I needed them.

I cursed the fact Dan put his arm around me and told me he was sorry I was sad because I wanted him to and needed him to and I am usually the strong one.

I think I may have to watch a marathon of Beaches and Steel Magnolia's to get through Grad night, so I can drain the tears from my skull.

I will post a bunch of pics. Maybe more than you wanted to see but leave me alone because this is therapy for me and you all are cheaper by the hour than most! :rotfl2:

I love this one, too.

Thanks for letting me share. I haven't gotten to the sad part yet. I am just happy he is about to finish his senior year and we are all looking forward to him getting out on his own. I think it will be good for him. He will be attending Salisbury University on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. It's a smallish school (8500) students and only 1 1/2 hrs from home. I am hoping its a good transition.

OK - thanks for letting me hijack, but we moms of seniors have to stick together.

Good luck with all your upcoming activities. You are going to be busy, busy, busy for awhile. But I know you can handle it. :thumbsup2

I know I do not post often. I simply sit in the background and read knowing that Dawn does a MUCH better job of writing and expressing her feelings. However, this time of my life seems to be bringing me out of the woodwork to get my feeling down ( as bad as this may be in a second please bear with me).

MEK...your son looked awesome in his tux and his date was beautiful.

This I will say about the kids growing up. It was tough to watch Carsyn walk for her senior prom. It was tough to imagine not having her in our lives every day soon as she has been. It is tough to realize that our lives are changing.

However, That being said and the tears drying after seeing the glow on her face and knowing that she realized she looked GOOOOgeous, Was a gift. I am proud of her as I know you are of him and I welcome the next chapter of our lives and watching her become more of the wonderful adult I know she is inside.

My blessing comes in the form of being able to be a witness to her joy and be allowed the privledge of calling these 3 kids Bonus children (hate the word step...bad connotation from Disney movies ;))

Love ferociously, those who have CHOSEN to accept you in their lives. Live as though you deserve that gift!

Ahhhh Prom....I can't believe that aspect of my life is done. My senior prom was two years ago, and I will be a college junior this fall. When the heck did THAT happen?????

Everyone looked gorgeous. I am slightly bummed that college doesn't provide many opportunities to get dressed up like that unless you're involved in Greek life, which I'm not. I did go dress shopping with my neighbors, who were juniors this year and have lived across the street from me for 11 years now, so we call each other sisters. But in the end they decided not to go.

In other news, I was driving back from Atlanta on I-85 and passed the exit for Anderson. I got all excited and was like "That's where Treyner and Carsyn go!" And my friend looked at me and asked who they were, and I had to launch into the whole "well they're the kids of a woman I met through an online Disney forum...." And she looked at me like I was crazy. Which I probably was, after that trip with her!

Hope everything sorts/sorted itself out. And don't worry about the wedding, I'm sure everything will turn out fine and everyone will be stunning!!! And if you happen to pass through NC, stop and say hi!

It's crazy, we drove through a bunch of rain today on our way shopping and were completely oblivious to the tornadoes (we weren't that close to the path thankfully). But watching it on the news - LOTS of big trees and homes damaged. It hit North Mpls, which is an older part of the city, with lots of old trees etc. Pretty bad, but thankfully only one person lost their life. Still thousands without power.

We made it home safe around 5 p.m. last night. Cars are unloaded, most of the stuff is put away and I have a huge list ahead of me that needs to get done but I know I promised wedding details so here is a few for now!

We had 19 friends and family there which was perfect since our max for the venue was 20! My sister Laura did the officiating and she really did a great job preparing the service. I am truly blessed to have such an amazing sister.

The morning of the wedding was windy and Treyner was in charge of hanging the colored netting we had. Because of the wind, it was determined to attach them to the top and bottom of the columns of the trellis. Did I mention this was three stories up??:scared1: So Treyner stood on the balcony copper ledge and held on while tying them while I swore, sweated and prayed. Nobody listens to my safety lessons in this family!

We scrubbed bird doo doo off the balcony and ledge, brought a few end tables up for the i-pod docking station and the front "altar." Luckily the house had these beautiful wood and wrought iron chairs for the guests that were originally around the massive table downstairs and I could not have asked for it to look any better. Simple and stunning. I had not been a big stickler about how exactly I wanted it to look and I just knew it would all come together and it did. The elevator was a huge help taking all the heavy stuff to the top floor!

Everyone there pitched in and did something. Leah (neighbor girl who traveled with us to Charleston last year) went with Dan to get the cakes, flowers and marriage license so he did not have to deal with parking in downtown Charleston. My friend Camilla, whom I have known since college, came and ironed all our clothes while we were on the roof decorating. Her daughters, worked on getting the music uploaded on the i-pod to play the two songs we wanted for the service. We were ready to roll by noon!

I spent an hour at the beach, just watching the boys and getting a bit of sun, then around 1 p.m., headed in, took a long bath in the jacuzzi tub and thought about my vows to Dan and the extraordinary path these last 4 years have been for us. I really spent that time centering myself and wishing my grandparents were there because they would have loved Dan and how happy I am with him.

I straightened my hair, put some curls in it, makeup applied and then got dressed. It is so WINDY on that top deck I knew any natural curls would be a disaster and the artificial ones I placed were not going to last with the humidity or wind but it gave some bounce and I will say I felt great. I usually look at strictly my weight in pictures or the mirror but that day I felt amazing and that was a gift straight from God.

The clothes for all of us came together without much planning. Carsyn's dress we had found when we went prom dress shopping. She was the only one all ready to go until the weekend before we left! I had thought of doing pinks and oranges for colors but last minute simply went with beach tones in part due to what we found. I had thought khaki linen pants and white shirts for the boys but when I saw the blue, I fell in love. I also knew shorts were more practical and would be used again vs. pants that would hang in the closet.

No joke, the Sunday before we left, we got the boys their things. The Monday before we left we found Dan his outfit and my dress...well yeah - that was found Tuesday morning! We left on Wednesday!!!!!

Looking back, maybe I was a nut job for not stressing out about those details. My sister and Dan's Mom were always asking we what I was doing and what the plan was. The truth of the matter was those were details I just knew would come. What was important to me was who could be there, the location, a nice dinner after and the fact that I was marrying my best everything.

My sister grabbed Dan so we could see one another alone in the Master Suite. She took some pics of the moment and they mean the world to me. It was emotional and meaningful and Dan started to tear up and I told him if I cried and ruined the seven inches of mascara I had on me, I would need to smack him!

We took pics inside the house, on the first level balcony and then, about 5:45 p.m. the service began. I rode the elevator up to the fourth level and took a deep breath, tried to remember all I wanted to tell Dan and when the door opened, there he was looking handsome and happy. We had not really even talked about how I would walk out to the ceremony and he just made the decision to wait and walk with me. Another minor detail that never crossed my mind but it was perfect.

Leah's boyfriend was another piece for this wedding puzzle. Chance is a music production college student who also has an amazing voice and guitar playing ability. He had played songs while people were seated and when Dan and I walked out, he sang Eric Clapton's, "You Look Wonderful Tonight." Dan kept squeezing my hand and when we stood before my sister, I looked over at Chance and here was this twenty year old kid, with a blue shirt on and these brilliant blue eyes, with the ocean behind him, playing a song to us and we had not even planned that piece of the wedding until he arrived with his guitar at the house to stay. He looked like a young James Taylor/Jimmy Buffet folk singer sitting there and I kept taking deep breaths, trying to take it all in. I love music and this was just the best gift.

This was a wedding done as inexpensive as possible in so many areas yet it all had come together in perfection. Even the sky was overcast which meant people were not melting on the roof! If I had asked God to create the perfect cacophony of senses, this would have been it and here I was, lucky to be in the wedding of my dreams, marrying the man I never could have thought I would dare to wish for.

The service was pretty short but we made it personal to us. My sister said a welcome, a prayer, blessed our rings and pronounced us. We had Carsyn read some pages from a small inspirational book we like. Treyner had earlier in the day gotten sand and placed it in a vase with glass beads we purchased and that was on the altar. He passed around sea shells we found in our few days there with a marker and asked people to write a few words of wishes for us on the shells which then they placed in the vase. Too windy for a unity candle but I wanted something we could always keep to remind us of that day and again, a last minute pull out of my hind end thought that everyone loved as did us. We played two songs in the service that we felt expressed our love for our family, each other and that day. We said our own vows to each other that we had written/rehearsed alone. Dan read his and I tried to go from memory of what I had planned but since I had nothing to concentrate on, it was easy for my head to think and I needed a few seconds to gather my composure because I was a waterfall. I kept looking at people by us and everywhere my eyes rested, they were crying as well.

That was no help at all and finally I gazed onto the ocean and seagulls and bit the inside of my mouth hard enough so I was no longer a weeping mess. I said my vows to him, then it was the pronouncing of us as Mr. & Mrs., the smooch and we thanked our guests, took more pics on the beach and was off to dinner!

I am trying to shorten some details simply because I want to keep some things private but I will tell you the laughter moments and Kavorka filled exploits!

First, Baylor hurt his neck, the night before the wedding, running on the beach. One of those muscle pulls that means you cannot move your neck so your whole torso needs to pivot to see on either side of you! You will notice in the pictures he is often not smiling the biggest and or his neck is leaning to one side because he was in so much pain.

During the ceremony, Treyner had started to tear up several times as did Baylor and being "manly" men, they tried to stop the emotion with a joke. (Gee, wonder who they got that from? :snooty:) Baylor had leaned into the other two and said, "Can I just get drunk tonight so someone can punch me in the neck and straighten it out and I won't feel it?"

Now again, those who know me and the kids from my ramblings here know #1 I do not approve or condone underage drinking, let alone from a fifteen year old. #2 My kids are totally inappropriate with humor and if it might get a laugh, it's fair game!

So the three of them are chuckling right behind Dan and I, we are trying not to laugh at their laughter and it helped me not keep blubbering as well.

Second, it was so windy up there that we all thought the vase of flowers was going to take a digger. It is the only ceremony I have been to where the ordained as well as bride and groom kept rearranging the altar, trying to block the wind and support the vase the whole service. My sister just kept smiling in front of us, talking through her teeth, praying the vase would hold on a few more minutes. I kept telling her to move closer, to block the wind. She even tried to stand with her legs a bit apart, to make herself as big of a barrier as possible.

Third, after the ceremony was done, Treyner came up to us and said, "The Jokes on You guys!!!"

We looked at him puzzled, then he explained the table we were using as an altar, was from his and Baylor's room and the drawer in it, contained all his underwear. So we had stood up there, praying and vowing, over his boxers. We all laughed except Baylor who then had to know Treyner had confiscated a pair of his underoos when he was getting dressed and realized his was up on the balcony as part of the altar arrangement!

Fourth, at the restaurant we ate at, there was an older couple behind the table Dan and I were at, who was not happy with their meal. It was an expensive place, very ritzy and after literally 35 minutes of listening to them complain, complain to every manager they could find, every waitress within ear shot, watch the woman get up and chase the head manager down, hear them tell everyone it did not matter that a $200 meal would be comped that they still were going to write the worst review Charleston had ever seen on their experience etc... I could not take it anymore.

Treyner was sitting by me and he had wanted to blow up ten minutes into our being seated.

Finally, as the head manager was sitting on his heels at their table to try and talk calmly to them and be reasonable, I could not take it anymore.

We have all had bad meals but when it is comped and apologized a thousand times for, it is obvious your experience was not being taken lightly. If they had been treated like crap, I could understand some hostility, saying I would never come there again etc. but this was like Emmy award winning tantrum for nothing.

So I leaned back (they were literally less than two feet away) and said, "Excuse me. I am sorry your experience was not what you had hoped it to be. I can understand your disappointment but we are here for our wedding and we too would like to have an enjoyable meal. If you still feel the need to express yourself could you do it at a more appropriate place like the front desk or podium, not right in back of our party."

I was shaking but my voice had remained calm and the lady, blinked at me like she just realized there were other people in her vocal space, said she understood, said congratulations to us, told the manager they were done and would be leaving.

Now what I did not tell you was that they were angry they were not seated right away, even though they had arrived 30 minutes early for their reservations. That because they had to wait, they had an $80 bill at the bar she was not happy about (because of course you are forced to drink when you wait) and they also ate 3/4 of each of their plates plus had a massive bottle of wine, in a table chiller that they had consumed most of as well. I know it was their anniversary, they came alone sans grandkids and kids to have a nice evening out and she was blubbering like her best friend had just died. Minus her bra size, I could tell you everything about their night.

I am wondering how many times they pulled this card to get free meals before? pirate:

Love love love love LOVE!!!! everything about it!!!!!!!!!! Your dress, Carsyn's dress, the boys (who look scarily alike, which I know you're aware of), Dan...everything just looks perfect. I'm so glad to hear it all went well. And I think you just start a tradition...all weddings must take place over hidden underwear. I can see a whole new fad of people hiding panties or boxers under the altar. Then again, it might just be me who finds that hilarious and wants to duplicate it.

Also very glad to have you back! We've all missed you on the boards. Hope that life continues to smile on y'all, and may the road rise up to meet you, and the wind always at your back (though I guess maybe that last part is a little late, huh?)

Hey all -
Treyner had another surgery this morning. Only scheduled yesterday afternoon and there is some complications and medical issues I would rather not go into here in detail but wanted you all to know if I am not back on today - the reason and I will get here ASAP. He is home with a follow up Friday and we will know more then. He cannot go up stairs easy so he is downstairs and someone needs to be with him for the next 48 hours non stop.

Our computer that is functional is upstairs! :surfweb: :sad2:

Thanks again for all the well wishes. It means a lot to Dan and I.

So cute I just want to run in there and hug the baby. Then I envision  the Momma or Big Poppa ripping my head off and serving it like a volleyball back on the appropriate side of the fenced area and I am able to contain myself. :teacher:

I have seen them fling poop farther than Brett Favre can huck a football so I squeeze Dan's hand until it is about to fall off and the urge to have my own gorilla and become a rogue Sigourney Weaver/pretending to be Dian Fossey passes. :rolleyes1

I also find the colors of ducks amazing. So vibrant and have you ever thought that God must be Metrosexual? I mean you never see an animal that clashes!

Random and weird but totally true because now your thinking about the sunset, the sunrise, the oceans and trees as a backdrop and all the animals with all the different coats, furs and feathers and not a single one would you sit back and say, "Ya know, that really does not go together!"

Yet, I know many a "manly" man on this earth that cannot figure out what color socks to wear with flannel. :rotfl2:

Anywhoozie...where was I? Oh yes...we left the trail and I was too full to get a Jalapeno cheese stuffed pretzel but did see where they are at for a future endeavor. We did though stop and see a CM making a beautiful rhino free hand and if I can come back as a millionaire to Disney just once, I would buy up a bunch of the carvings. So much better than some manufactured replica made in Taiwan, painted in Buenas Aires then shipped to Brooklyn of an animal from Afreeeeka!

We decided not to do any shows this time. We have seen Lion King and Nemo twice in the last two years, so it was on to ride Dinosaur which still scares the holy heck out of me every single time!!!

The park was starting to fill up a bit more, Baylor was ready to go shop and swim a bit and since Dan could not find his Goofy Spree candy anywhere, there was no use to keep checking at every store we passed.

(Does anybody know what happened to those suckers anyway?)

We had plenty of time to do whatever so we stopped by the Nike Clearance center and picked up some Krispie Kreme's for breakfast. We also saw some weird stuff outside the safety of WDW property.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090468.jpg

Not quite sure if they are real vampires or just bringing along Aunt Edna from National Lampoons!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/march%202011%20Florida%20trip/P1090470.jpg
We also saw a license plate that may belong to either a Rapper or a husband from the TV show, “Mob Wives.”

Does anybody else see this sort of stuff on their travels??

Once back at POFQ, we took a few minutes to hang out at the pool. We found out our little neck of the woods was bustling with cheerleaders there for the national competition. There was about twenty or so teens who found Baylor rather interesting. Now here is the difference between my sons.

My oldest, would approach anyone at anytime and be semi-confident they would be receptive to his charming personality and smile.

My youngest, needs to be clubbed, drug off into the woods and provided a ribeye from a hunted Wooly Mammoth before he gets the clue.

We were playing catch with a football in the pool and all of a sudden ten girls, all get in the pool and start doing stunts, acting obnoxious and splashing about like dolphins at a Sea World show.

Baylor, still oblivious they are not trying to get my attention, just keeps his head straight like he is Joe Cool and pays them no mind.

So I decide I will help him along and toss the football a bit out of his reach and a girl dove for that ball like it was the last nut on earth and she was a squirrel. She tosses it quite well back to Baylor and I say, “Do you want to take my spot? I am kind of sick of throwing it.”

She squeaks out a yes and is now followed by the rest of the squad who magically develops a hankering for some football tossing.

Now it is Baylor, twelve girls and he says nothing.

Not a chirp, a whistle of even a grunt.

He passes the football to them, they fight over who passes it to him and then they make pyramids in the pool, get yelled at by the lifeguard and do it all over again to try and get his reaction.

Still he remains a catatonic young man who makes Dr. Kavorkians’s patients look like a ball of laughs.

The girls finally give up, head out with their chaperones and Baylor comes and sits next to Dan and I. Dan asks him if he got any numbers.

Baylor says, “No, they did not seem interested.” :sad2:

I told him if he had been on the Titanic he would have drowned because nobody specifically told him to get on a life boat that was empty.

Then I said, “What do you think they thought about you? There were all these girls begging for your attention and you did not ask one of them there name, where they were from, how old they were, when the competed….nothing! They probably thought YOU were not interested in them and were just a stuck up brat!”
He looked at me like I had two heads and the light bulb finally clicked.

All of a sudden he wanted to go get us refills in our drink mugs, even though they were not empty! That kid stalked the food court hoping for a second chance to redeem himself. Even when we got back to our room which was thirty feet away, he kept going back under the guise the mugs needed to be topped off! :cool2:

We freshened up for the evening and took the boat

Oh my gosh, that's awesome!! :rotfl2:

I'm not sure whether to pity Baylor or not. Do you think it's something he'll clue into sooner or later? In the meantime his cluelessness is prime fodder for your TR's so I don't think I'll pity him just yet. :lmao:

I never see such interesting license plates/vampire processionals when I'm on vacation....screaming, hysterical mothers and obnoxious teenager stories I've got but on the DIS boards, who doesn't? :confused3

I hope Treynor recovers quickly. Sending good thoughts and prayers. :thumbsup2

LOL about Baylor and the girls!! :lmao:Maybe being clueless will be a good thing - he can concentrate on his studies or something...

Oh my gosh....where do I begin?!! I just found your TR and have spent the last hour and half catching up.

First of all - CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR MARRIAGE!!! What a beautiful couple you are! Loved the dress, loved the shoes (were there any? If not loved them anyway!), loved the happy faces and beautiful family!!

Second - Loved both the massage surprise and your new purse!

Third - I agree with the smoking and how WDW chooses to place smoking spots. For the most part (since I had 2 smokers on our last trip) these spots were secluded and didn't interact with food areas but I remember this smoking spot very well. On a funny note - when you mentioned B.O., (and my DS24 is going to kill me if he knew I was posting this, on our first day at WDW on our trip in 2010 and it was DS24 & DS18 first visit, our room wasn't ready until almost 4:30 p.m. DS24 has had an issue this past year with no deoderant seeming to work so needless to say, after the plane ride, walking around Epcot in 85+ weather for 5 hours, he desperately needed to shower and change his t-shirt. We had a 4:45 dinner reservation at Teppan Edo and since the room wasn't ready until almost 4:30, we had to cancel that ressie so he could shower and change. This was recurring through our trip - a few hours in the sun and 3 different deoderants and it was back to the room to shower and change :rotfl2: Poor guy - now at least he only has this problem under one arm :rotfl:) I know...I'm a bad mommy!

Four - Prom pics were beautiful - your daughter looked stunning and so happy!

Isn't it funny how each kid is different yet alike? I have 5 kids (4 boys and 1 girl) and each have their own pecularities. I wanted to take a moment to tell you how sad it made me that your friend passed away :sad1: You had a long friendship and it sounds like she had a great disposition in spite of it all. I can sympathize on how short life is (in 1994 my hubby died at a hotel in Kissimmee a week before Christmas - we had traveled to FL from Oregon and he was excited to take his kids to WDW but with his heart problems, I think the long trip was too much and he suffered a massive heart attack.) I am so happy that you have someone to share your life with and have a beautiful famly and wish you many more fun laugh-filled adventures for years to come!

I take my kids pics in front of the same gorilla every time we go... It's neat to see how much they've grown since the last time we were there...

Baylor... :sad2: On the positive side, at least you know he's not girl crazy, yet... :rotfl2:

Baylor...:rotfl:

I have to admit that I have been one of those girls a time or two. Actually, when we were in Myrtle Beach, my parents and I were soaking in one of the hotel's hot tubs when a pair of cute, my-aged guys came down and got in another hot tub on the other side of the pool. I decided it was a good time to take a cool off lap in the pool (never mind that it was February). It would've gone great had I not gotten a cramp in my thigh halfway through. Apparently my legs protest to kicking after running a half-marathon :confused3

I like Pangani, but I have to say I prefer the Maharajah jungle trek, simply because they have the tigers.

Dawn, I'm not sure what in the WORLD took me so long to get here, but at least I'm here!!

Congratulations to you and Dan!!!

I was crying, reading about your story. I know what you've been through and I am SO HAPPY, from the VERY bottom of my heart, for you. I love you and I just can't begin to express how good it is to see you so happy.

Ok...it's going to take a while for me to stop crying....*sniffs*

Wow.....Baylor has always been my favourite kid of yours, and this incident just makes me like him more! Haha, he's so cute! It makes me wonder if my little brother is like that....but he's more of a Treyner.

MMMmmm, jalapeno cheese pretzel.....those were VERY good.

I LOVE that you made the reference of God being metro. Everything in nature DOES match! I mean, all the colours go together so well. I love ducks. I think they're very cute and have very pretty colours. Well, the males do, but the females are pretty in their own way.

I also love the meercats! They're so cute!

Wow, that man is carving it out there for everyone to see. So much skill. When I finally get my own place, I would love to get one of those masks from AK. I'm not sure how well it'll match the decor of my place....

Dawn, it's so great to have you back and I hope Treynor feels better soon!

:sad2::sad2::sad2:

We both tried... I threw the football over his head and strategically "placed" it about 2 feet from the first girl thinking he would have to say something...such as my step father is a fool. I am sorry. Nothing. Oh well you can lead a kid to water but you cant make him talk to the girls...:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

To everyone: Thank you for the wishes regarding the wedding. It was awesome and I was privledged to marry my best friend. :cloud9:

It was a beautiful wedding y'all! So wonderfully them. Dawn & Dan are the perfect couple and such awesome friends!!

Just a quick post to say that waking up to a sick dog is no more fun than waking up to a sick child. Maybe worse because he cannot tell me what he ate, what he feels like and I am not about to take his temp! :scared1:

Yes...It is 5:19 a.m. and this all started at about forty minutes ago but he seems better now! :worship:

The bright side is that I do not need to worry about oversleeping the 5:30 a.m. alarm we had set to leave the house by 6:30 a.m. for soccer district championship game! Hope Baylor is ready and as slap happy as I will be on the drive! :hyper2: :jumping3:

Aw my dog is ill too. Totally off her food. Poor lamb. Just not herself. I wish she could just say 'Yo I ate a stone/something I shouldn't have! Help' instead of looking sad at me.

Good luck Baylor!

OH! She has just brought up part of a tennis ball. Nice. :scared1:

When our dog had tummy troubles recently (after spending LOTS of $ at the vet to find out it was a virus), they suggested the rice, boiled chicken and/or canned pumpkin puree diet for a while. It helps with puking and/or diarrhea. Our dog didn't care for the boiled chicken (no surprise) but LOVED the pumpkin!
It helped him.

Good luck!

Hope soccer goes well and you don't all melt from this ridiculous heat and humidity!!!

Oh Dawn, I can't tell you how horrid I feel about not being able to come to the wedding. Three weeks in Florida made it hard. When the district decided that Marc had to go to Chicago for a week well that made it impossible! I saw Shannon's pictures and you were a beautiful bride! Congrats!

I'll try to remember to call you back tonight on my way home. That darn life thing got in the way and I just forgot. Ellie's bday was Monday so we were doing party stuff over the weekend. Between that and being at the pool(because it's so freaking HOT as you well know) I just forgot.
