My Nikon D5000 just arrived today. I can't wait to check everything out. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good book series that helped teach you how to take advantage of your camera.

Thanks!

I highly recommend The Digital Photography Book by Scott Kelby. There are several volumes and all are very informative. Scott Kelby is a great photographer (and Disney fan!) who makes everything very easy to understand. No techie-babble. Just keeps things simple.

Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson is good. I also highly recommend taking a Nikon School class when they come to your town. I took the intro one about 2 weeks ago and it was fantastic. It gave me the inspiration to step out of the "Auto" mode on my D5000.

Both books mentioned are great. However, the most important book you can read is your instruction manual.

Google "short course" + "nikon d5000." They have specific, interactive PDF files that help you learn your camera.
