:(

DS did not want to go. We were going to leave this morning for a quick overnight trip, since we are only 3 hours away. Well, our DS (4yo) had a fit! We don't really know why. It must be a four year- old thing! He kept saying he wanted Joey and Melanie (my niece and nephew) to go. They are going with us in Nov and we told him that , but he was adamant. Well, DH and I will probably go alone in Oct. we'll see......

Well, my 4 year old DS would be sitting in the car right now on his way to WDW, like it or not!

Wow!!!! I can't imagine my kid turning down a Disney trip. I also can't imagine me listening to him if he said no!;)

Disney Doll,
I completely agree with you. I am in charge, I am the mommy, I lead, you follow. ;)

Sorry, but I have to agree that I'm the Mom....we would have gone.
BUT....to try and understand your DS.....They really have no concept of time at that age.
If you already told him that his cousins were going...and now you are trying to go with out them.....your DS is probably thinking they will not be going at all.
You just have to keep reinforcing that they WILL be going in Nov. Sooner or later he will get the idea.
And he will learn the concept of time.
Good Luck:)

Wow! Can I be one of your kids? *lol* ... I have a nephew like that ... whatever he says goes! Tough call ... but why force him if he wouldn't have been happy

I think cindyfan is right. November means nothing to a four year old..."after Halloween" might ring a bell, etc.. My children would have been in the car, too, after a brief explanation. I wonder if passage of time is even harder for children in FL to pick up on since there's no drastic change in seasons?

I have a 4 yr. old who might have thrown a little fit too, but it's because she doesn't always understand. I would've packed her off for the trip knowing that once she got there and once she understood she'd be going back, she would've been thrilled. She's had a little fit before, but then when she understood that what we were doing was fun, she settled down. If he truly understood what he just missed there's no way he would've turned it down.

My kids would NEVER say no, but if they did WE are in charge and we would be there :p ! AND they would be having a good time too.:D Actually last week we took off WITHOUT the kids:smooth: and had a blast. Of course they will be going again soon enough and could not miss school;) !

To continue.....

Around 3pm the same day, DH and I were talking about how we might go alone in Oct (Ds would stay with my mom). We told him we would bring him something back. Right away he said, "I want you to go today". AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When my kids were 15 and 16 and did not want to go....I WENT WITHOUT THEM! They stayed home, went to school, fed the Dogs and Cats, cleaned up thier Mess, and I had a GREAT TIME! I had 4 nights and 5 days AWAY from HOME!:o I have been doing this ever since! ;) My next trip is in Nov. Of course, they are on thier own now, I leave DH home to take care of the Pets!;)
