I just wanted to thank everyone from this forum for all your help and advise to help me take some of my best shots from Disney. I still need much more practice, but I can see a difference!

Thanks the first shot of the castle was
Iso400 30mm f4.0 shot in TV mode at 1sec

The fountain was AV mode Iso 100 135mm F10 1/80

The rose was also AV mode Iso 100 28mm F22 1/25

I tend to shot more in AV than anything;).

I am going to show you my bird shots today.

This guy was just hanging out of the Splash Mountain. I have never seen so many birds at Disney before.

This guy was just hanging out of the Splash Mountain.

Was he saying "Mine, mine, Mine?" repeatedly? If so then he must have come from Epcot!

First of all, let me congratulate you on your effort to learn a new DSLR and learn from mistakes(I tried to help with your long exposure castle shots). You obviously have made progress.

As for some hopefully constructive criticism...some of your images look underexposed. First of all, you were using spot metering for most of these shots(did you intend to?). That is generally not advisable in all but the hardest lighting conditions(think spot lighting on a performer on stage). This could be the reason for some of the underexposure. IF you place the spot metering circle over a white area of the image, you will underexpose the entire image.

Some of these images though don't look like spot metering was necessarily the reason for the underexposure(depending on focus/recompose technique). Make sure your camera's exposure compensation value is set to 0 for typical shots.

Do not by any means let my comments discourage you. I merely want to help you use your camera to the best of its ability and we all know that a setting or two can get messed up on a camera without us noticing right away.

If on your trip you ever felt that your camera was giving you wildly varying exposures...this would be why.

Hope this helps and I look forward to seeing more of your images. You'd be surprised how fast you can grow if you continue to learn and read up.

Thanks, my camera is normally on spot metering, because most of my shots are of little children and I want the focus to be on them and I didn't even think about moving it. What should it have been on???? That does make sense why some of my sky is blown out. Thanks for the advise.
