Lense for Alaska/Zoom

I have a Canon rebel XT- with the standard 18-55 lense. I love this lense for a "walk around" lense but I want to buy a new one, I want something with more zoom to it as we are doing an Alaskan cruise/Seattle 2 week trip in July. I want something that won't break the bank, maybe $200-300. I know that may not be enough for the perfect one, but that is all we can spend on it, the trip is costing alot as it is. LOL Also any reputable sites to buy the lense , if anyone knows about them. Any help would be great!!:goodvibes

I have this one and really like it. It provides a great deal more zoom than the lens the camera came with (mine came with the same one you mentioned.) I have an XS but I believe this lens works for yours as well.

Make sure you get the lens and practice using it *before* you go to Alaska.

This was the first time I purchased from them but they came highly recommended here and I had no problems at all! I've enjoyed the lens quite a bit and I'm excited about trying it out at Disney.
