Short trip, lots of food!

1. 'Ohana. Very, very good once again. Not a single issue with the food or the service. The turkey, beef, pork & especially the shrimp were marvelous. Our server was very efficient, enough so that she received a 40% tip! (OMG! I should have had my 9 year old do the math...Or had one less Backscratcher!)...But alas budget cuts will be seen here. My cocktail of choice is the Backscratcher and I'm quite sure it is now in a glass a good 25% smaller than before for the same price. Also, the kids plastic Polynesian cups are now much smaller & much flimsier - Not much of a souvenier...A-

2. Tusker House (lunch). We had the peanut chicken and as always it was very good. B+

3. Teppenyaki. Very good meal. I had the lobster & steak & DD had shrimp. Very yummy & the Chef put on an excellent show. A-

4. Brown Derby (lunch). I had the filet over cobb on texas toast. Very, good again. The steak was tender, but I especially liked the cobb. DD had chicken breast & it was just a plain chicken breast. Kind of odd for a kids menu, but sahe ate it all. B+

5. Boma. Very, Very Good again. Had the flank steak & prime rib (end cut). The soups were again awesome as was thecorn & plantain salad and couscous. Note: I eat the couscous so I can say couscous!!! Zebra domes need no further review. B+

We visited the GF and really liked the looks & menu of Narcoossee's so next time that'll be getting a try...

Great reviews!

From reading this board, I think we'll be eating at Ohana's in November, for certain. A friend of mine told me it's great, and it looks like most of you are reporting that it is.

It is great ... but it is a specific type of food...i.e. heavy on grilled meats & shrimp which is not to some people's taste, with a Polynesian flair, I guess.

The biggest complaint I've seen for 'Ohana is that the food is all too "smokey" which is no problem for me because I love this flavor, but is obviously not for everybody...

We went to O'hana's last trip and loved it. The kids ordered what became a nightmare each night...shirley temples! We didn't get any souvie cups, just regular glasses. Wonder if they were not using them then or if because of what it was they didn't come in it. Would have been great though to have it seeing how one did get spilled and that stuff is ten times worse than soda for stickiness!

I think the meats and shrimp there have a teriyaki taste to them which my family loves. Guess whats's for dinner tonight? Teriyaki chicken! At least this was a meal that I actually made money on because my kids went to town here.

This is one of the restuarants that you either love or hate the flavor of. We will be going back next year when we stay at the Poly.

Lucky you! A weekend trip to WDW--

Thank you for the reviews.

Do you remember what was appealing about Narcoosee's? We have plans to eat there in November.

Thanks,
penny

Re: Narcoossee's.

First of all my 9 year old Daughter found whatever was on the childrens menu appeling & I thought the regular menu looked...Well, regular (I'm not a sauces & concoction type guy). But I remember thinking abou the pork tenderloin & surf & turf (with Maine lobster - a treat for us Floridians). A trip over to Deb Wills' site will show the menu pretty much as we saw it.

But the location, out on the water was very appealing...

Plus this is on Uncleromulus' must do list, if I'm not mistaken, and I always like his reviews...

You mentioned Polynesian style meats at 'Ohana. Are they very heavily seasoned? I'm just wondering if a picky 9 year old meat lover might enjoy the food.

Boma sounds heavenly!

PG, I agree with what mazzarafe said with with regard to the flavoring. It has teryaki feel to it, yet smokey due to the open fire grilling. The steak isn't marinated or spiced, the pork loin is pre-cooked with a sweet marinade, the shrimp is seasoned heavily & the turkey is smoked turkey (heavenly with the peanut sauce). 'Ohana is my 9 year olds favorite...But then she isn't a picky eater.

Eeyore my friend, do I sense some WDW withdrawl pain???
