Does this then make it a package? Any info greatly appreciated.

You can only add a dining plan if you have a package. Package = room + tickets (1 day for paid dining, 2 days for free dining) for everyone in the room.

And yes doing that would change it to a package, with the standard package deposit & cancellation rules.

If you have an AP discounted room can you add dining without adding tickets??

Yes. That also is a package though too, subject to the package rules.

You could add a dining package with an AP, but do the math first.

AP rate and TIW is usually cheaper than the "free" or the add-on dining plan.

I totally understand that some people are happy to pay more if it means they can pre-pay the whole thing! Not judging. Just a word to the wise. :)
