Trading Spaces / the new guy....

Who watches Trading Spaces and saw it this weekend? I was surprised to see a new designer (but VERY happy about it) What did you all think about Edward? I thought he was very concerned about the homeowners and storage (What a change!!!!) And he really seemed to have a great time and was way under budget, but the room still looked great (though not really my style).

I like the new season so far. I'm not so sure about the new guy yet. I will have to see a few more of his rooms.

It seems like the designers are really listening to what the homeowners like so far. We will see once Doug shows up. ;)

I posted this on the other thread too, but the other new designer will have her first episode this Saturday. Her name is Kia.

I also liked Edward. He used to be the sewing coordinator for Trading Spaces which is probably why Ty felt comfortable giving him a hard time. They obviously have known each other a while. So far I've liked most of the rooms this new season. Then again, we haven't seen Hil-disaster yet!

I was wondering why Edward ended up stitching the drapes by himself.

He seems OK. His room was tasteful. I can't wait to see what the "new girl" is like. From the glimpse I saw on the commercial, her design looked very colorful (putting it nicely). But no one can match Dez Ryan.

I heard a rumor that Dez would be back for a few episodes this season!

I really liked Edward. Except for that throw rug he did, everything seemed very functional and in the owner's taste.

So far the only one I ABSOLUTELY can't stand is Hildy... I hope we don't have to see many more hay rooms, or that awful quadrant room with the purple and grey...eeeew!!!

I'm new to the show (I LOVE IT) so I didn't realize he was new. I was VERY impressed with his use of the fabric, $7.99 a yard is incredible for what he got! Yes, he and Ty got along quite well, I thought, a little too well I was afraid.... :earseek: ... nevertheless the room was very tasteful and I loved those little end tables!

i did like edward and his room but i miss laurie and hildy and doug are both a bit over the edge

I don't care for Hilde either, but Laurie really gets on my nerves! Especially when the homewoners specifically said do not touch the ceiling fan! and she did! Basically saying I don't care what you want! The homeowners were yanked off about it.
I like the new guy, he seemed pretty nice.

I liked Edward! I like Laurie too maybe because she is from the south and says her name exactly the way my southern parents say mine LOL!

Laurie always takes down the ceiling fans!! I always judge a designer by how snippy they assign the HOMEWORK ;)

The commercial with the new designer features these kinda disgusting purple walls and her dancing around. I hope she isn't another Dez.

I don't know, damo, I think Kia is going to liven up the show quite a bit. Just from the commericals they've been showing, she looks kind of fun! The other designers were starting to get very predictable, it's nice to have some new blood!

On the other hand, I can't honestly say Hildi and Doug are ever boring either.......

By the way, Ty has been living with with the same woman for 4 years. They showed her when he was on A Makeover Story. She also accompanies him to most of his public appearances.

i just hope all the rooms dont look like the one they showed on the commercial, just seems like dez to me, and i did not like any of her rooms, i would be very scared to know she would be the designer for my room.

Liked Edwards room. Like the room Frank did on his episode also. I agree, it seems like they are going for a little more "class" in their designing instead of total shock value.

WDW Poly Princess, they are in addition to all the other designers. This season they are shooting 60 episodes instead of 45, so they added Edard and Kia. Also, Hildi got married and is living in some castle in France, so she's supposedly only shooting 8 shows this season.

And didn't Laurie just have a baby? Can't imagine she'll be back any time soon...that ceiling fan thing was too much. I was rolling my eyes at both sides - Laurie, for insisting on taking it down, and the owner, for having a hissy about it - geez, wait 'till the cameras are off and just put it back up.

And yes, that quadrant room was the WORST!! :p
