Limos, Planes, AND Puke~ OH MY! Allison's Wish Trip Report*3/27 COMPLETED *

The Cast: My name is Amy. I am the mother of four wonderful kids and Navy wife to my high school sweetheart:love:. Our oldest son is 15 (soon to be 16), our wish princess is 12 then we have 2 more little guys. 4 years and 9 months.

The Why: My daughter was diagnosed almost 2 years ago with Indeterminate Inflammatory Bowel Disease.:sick: Although, they are now saying it is more specifically Crohn's. She has had symptoms since she was 2 and it took 8 years and A LOT of doctors to finally figure out what was wrong. Allison has always been a trooper. Happy and goes with the flow. Rarely did she complain, but when she did.....you knew she was sick. After several failed treatment plans, they finally found one that seems to be working. That's the nutshell anyway. So here we are!!

Once I figure out how, I plan to make some sort of table of contents with links... Anyone want to PM with instructions???

Where Make Wish comes In: She was referred to MAW by the nurses in her hematology/oncology treatment center. It took quite a while to hear anything back (MONTHS) because the doctors papers "didn't make it back" to MAW. Once they got them, it moved VERY quickly. We got the letter in the mail that our Volunteers would be calling. Less than 2 hours after opening the mail they called. They were at our house 2 weeks later. They brought Allison a MAW Barbie!!

Which by the way, her dr. was deployed very suddenly to Afghanistan in October. So the one doctor that finally figured out what was wrong AND gave her quality of life back..... Is now gone. But that's a whole other story. So the papers again finally make it back to MAW. Her first wish was to meet Harry Potter's George and Fred. We were told we would have to be willing to leave within 48 hours of being notified, which with a Sailor you just can't do. Her second wish was to go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. They decided to have us go to GKTW and visit the Orlando parks, which includes IOA where Harry Potter is. She is a huge Potter fan. Our Wish Granter calls and literally wanted us to leave in 2 weeks from when everything was approved. We decided to hold off and go in a month. :banana:

Sunday DECEMBER 12, 2010 DAY 1
The morning starts off quite early 0500. Mom is up to feed the baby and grabs a quick shower. 0545 Time to wake up the three older kids. Not the most fun thing to do, but at least I could say it was so we could ride the LIMO to the airport…. For DISNEY:banana::banana::banana:!!! I can’t believe it’s the day! :woohoo::yay::cheer2:

Kids drag themselves out of bed, Husband and I help get the last few things together. 0620 everyone is waiting anxiously for the LIMO to arrive at 0630. At 0625 the LIMO arrives!! A great big white Limo! All for Allison!! She is so excited as are Jake and Jonathon. So Dad and Jake carry out the luggage and start to put it in the trunk. Naturally, there isn’t enough room for the OVER ABUNDANCE of luggage that I packed for the 6 of us, for 1 week in Disney.:rolleyes1 One of the large suitcases had to go inside on the floor with us. Baby’s seat is buckled in, kids are situated, Mom and Dad are in….. Off we go to the airport! ;)

After a 45 minute drive, we arrived at Newport News/Williamsburg airport. Having never flown with kids, I was a bit overwhelmed. :scared1: We didn’t have tickets, as MAW had it set up for us to check in and get them. So up to the counter we go. Easy enough…. 4 kids and a TON of luggage. The lady at the counter was having a bad day. I think she must have rolled out of bed on the wrong side, :mad:because she was grumpy from the moment she said Good morning. Obviously, to her nothing about it was good. She begins to check us in and I inquire about the luggage rates. (I had contacted Airtran ahead of time and found out they don’t charge MAW families for luggage~and brought the email with me) This apparently frustrated her because she kept doing the “typing” on the computer keyboard “looking” for something?!?! After what seemed like forever she called her supervisor to see what to do. Apparently there was no “note” on our reservation that it was a wish trip. Anyway, he said to waive the fees and now we are ready to check our bags.
You seriously weren’t thinking Ms. Ray O’ Sunshine:goodvibes was going to make this process any easier than the tickets!?!? First bag up, over by 5 pounds, OK let’s check the next… over by 4 pounds. Call back to the supervisor. Hushed tones on the phone. “OK, my supervisor says that we can waive the luggage fee, but not the overage fee” WELL~ at the rate they charge for heavy bags, it wasn’t worth it. We brought two extra duffle bags for our goodies, let’s just take one out and put stuff in it and check that as well. “Fine” she said and walked away. We got the stuff out, stuffed it into another bag, reweighed the bags and were good. Everything under weight. Ready to move on and check the bags. After all, we still had security to get through. At least 20 minutes go by before she graced us with her presence again. Back to weighing and typing on the computer. FINALLY our bags were on their way to our plane. But if we don’t hurry, it will make it to Florida and we won’t.

Luckily the airport was small and security wasn’t hard to find. All of us had carry-ons and shoes and coats. The security people were fantastic!:wizard: They helped us through, and even though they had to check our medication bag we were through in less time than it took to check in!! We are waiting at the gate, get some breakfast and wait for them to board us. Once we are on the plane, our oldest walks in first with the 4 year old. They decide to sit together. Jonathon (4) closest to the window, then Jake (15) in the middle, and Alli (12) on the end. My husband, baby and I sit behind them. Take off was smooth, the baby did great. We gave the kids gum to chew, and Jonathon only got a small piece as he has never had gum before. A little into the flight we hit a bit of turbulence. Nothing too bad…. At least that’s what I thought. Next thing, I see Jonathon “choking” on his gum. I figured he tried to swallow it. I told his brother to help him, and no sooner did the little guy PUKE! EVERYWHERE! :sick:Just him and his brother…. So the seatbelt sign is still on, we hit the button for a flight attendant. They were very nice! The moved Jake up a row, Alli moved back with me and Daddy moved up with Jonathon to “clean” him up. It seemed like it took forever. They got situated, and within 5 minutes he was fast asleep. 40 minutes later we were landing in Orlando. We made it. Not without a few glitches.. But we were there!!!

GIVE KIDS THE WORLDTwo wonderful GIVE KIDS THE WORLD greeters met us as we came out. They helped us to the luggage pick-up where we had to stop to change Jonathon. We check-in and get the run down for orientation. The Volunteer takes us to our Villa so that we can quickly order lunch and get to orientation to get our tickets!

We quickly order lunch from Katie's Kitchen so that Dad can get to orientation. Our plan was to go to SeaWorld when he was done. Apparently the kids had other plans.... This is how I found them when I finished feeding the baby.

Our oldest was passed out in the bedroom. I decided to lay down with the baby until Dad got back. When he did, we all fell asleep!!:confused3 Oh well, it was such an exciting day.. right?!?!? :rotfl2:

Once our nap was done we decided to go across the street to "Matthews Boundless Playground" Jake stayed behind, he needed more beauty rest.

There are 3 of these "castle-like" villas from what our hostess told us. All of the villas are the same inside from what I understand. THey all have the same accomadations anyway. The outside is just different. So the towers and all give it the look of a castle..... Sorry not more exciting than that. But Alli was a princess regardless!!

Day 2 Monday December 13, 2010
I set the alarm the night before since we had the naps, figured it would be good to get an early start. Afterall.... TODAY was THE day for Alli's WISH TO COME TRUE!! We were going to Islands of Adventure~ The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!! :jumping1:

So the alarm goes off and I promptly get up and start to wake the older kiddos. Daddy stayed with the younger two. I guess this is a good time to say both Jonathon (4) AND Christopher (9 months) slept in the bed with us!!:scared1: Thank goodness it was a King size bed. I am ready and figure the older two are almost ready. NO Allison is still in bed ASLEEP!!!!:eek: So I manage to get her up and we all get ready. We want to see Mickey and Minnie before Breakfast. YES! Allison was a bear that day to get up out of bed. We just found out that her cortisol levels were too low and it was make her EXTREMELY tired...but we had no time for that!:lmao: Jonathon wasn't ready for the picture and he was pouting...:confused3

Day 2 Part 2

:cool2::drive:So off we go to Universal's Islands of Adventure!! The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

Since I forgot to mention in my previous post, it was VERY COLD! We woke up to temps in the 30's and the high only mid to high 40's. Some of the coldest weather to hit Florida in a long time. Thank goodness I checked ahead and packed for warmer weather. We were all bundled and ready to go. Kids in the van.... Allison almost instantly falls asleep.

So after 20 minutes or so of driving, this is what we see.....

YAY! Everyone is starting to wake up more and the excitement is palpable in the air!:rotfl2: Then we see....

We made it!! We pull up to the window, and all I have to do is show them our GKTW button and the gentleman says "Have a GREAT visit" And off we go to the Parking Garage. Things are going great...we aren't there at opening but that's ok. It's only 10 (they opened at 9) Get parked, the stroller out, the diaper bag and snacks get situated.... The kids are getting out, DH is putting Christopher in the stroller, he isn't having it so I decide to just "wear him". We get him all adjusted and ready to go. I get the camera out of the van AND DROP IT!!!!:faint::sad::mad::guilty: Yes, I dropped the digital camera as we are about to go into Harry Potter world for Allison's WISH!! UGH No worries, DH will fix it! He can fix everything!:love: Yeah, not so much. It was broke! Good thing I had my cell phone and Alli had her little camera.:idea:

Not time to sulk, time to get on with the trip!! YAY :thumbsup2 We start walking to the park entrance. We get on the elevator, go down, walk for what seems like FOREVER. Keep walking some more.. and it's getting crowded. We get to the area they check your bags and we think we are about to get in. NO..:eek: You enter in Universals City Walk (similar to DTD) and that is a large area too. Finally see the signs showing Left to ISLANDS OF ADVENTURE and right to UNIVERSAL STUDIOS. Off to the LEFT WE GO!!

We make it in, and our first stop... THE WIZARDING WORLD!! WOO HOO:cool1:

Naturally on the other side of the park. ON the way we see the Grinch. Jonathon LOVES the movie and said he wanted to meet him.

We go in his Photo location. Jake and Alli see him (Jonathon REFUSES, another fit)

My daughter started on a 5-ASA (Dipentum) at diagnosis, but couldn't keep her symptoms in check. She was hospitalized for a flare, put on prednisone, which helped for a bit. Her symptoms continued so Flagyl was added, along with other meds. She was weaned off of prednisone after over a year by adding 6-MP and a probiotic, along with omeprazole. This was right when Enbrel was coming on the market. That was going to be her next med. She remained on the immunosuppresant (6-MP), probiotic and Dipentum and Omeprazole for years. As of last month, she is solely on Dipentum. Her colonoscopies show moderate inflammation from her stomach throughout her entire intestinal tract, but she *knock wood again* is not symptomatic and doing well. She repeats her upper gi-endoscopy again in April. Fingers crossed that all goes well!

How have things gone for your daughter?

Allison started on Pentasa right away with prevacid (and something else?? sorry can't think of the name) 6-MP was added next, then prednisone. Every time they tried to wean the flare ups came back. She then started to have labs coming back that were abnormal. So they had to stop that. That's when a team of GI doctors collaborated and decided Remicade was the next option for her. She has been doing treatments for 17 months. After a year she was finally able to come of the prednisone. She has been having flare-ups toward the middle of the cycle so they are giving her maybe 1 or 2 more chances. Her Endoscopy and Colonoscopy were last done in November maybe 4 days after a treatment and they still saw inflammation throughout. Her cortisol levels are low from the prednisone use, and now has to take hydrocortisone. She has chronic sinus problems that the ENT said her CT scan was one of the worst he has seen for a 12 year old girl. She is scheduled to have surgery in March. They are wondering if the infections are causing flares or if the immune system being suppressed isn't allowing her to fight it. Another what came first, the chicken or the egg situation. Glad to hear your daughter is doing so well!!

Welcome! Airtran flight attendants were very nice. And nice at Orlando. I emailed them and asked about luggage. They emailed me back that they waive MAW luggage fees. Try to email them. If it's in your ticket info, they will automatically waive it!! Good luck.. we had 6 of us too

Today is my baby's birthday. :bday:It is so hard to believe that 16 years ago I had him. Time goes to fast!!!

I am making him a big breakfast and then we are taking him to a Japanese Steakhouse that he has been begging to go to!! party:

Luckily in the state of VA they have to be 16 and 3 months to get their license, so I have more time to prepare myself for that one!!:car: In the mean time, he will continue to be supervised driving!!

Day 2 December 13, completed!! ~ FINALLY

First stop..... Zonko's Joke Shop...then Honeyduke's. Christopher and I waited outside while the rest of the family went shopping around. It was very crowded and no room for me wearing him and taking the stroller through. The decided on everything they wanted to buy later in the day. Next stop.... BUTTERBEER!! :thumbsup2 We walk along the cobblestone road and find the Butterbeer stand. 2 Butterbeers and 2 Pumpking Juices!! YUMMO!!! Holy cow, they were sooooo good. (Since I have nothing nice to say, I won't about the Pumpking Juice;))

Off to Ollivanders Wand shop we go. The line is LONG. :scared1: We approach the gentleman at the door, making sure the MAW and GKTW buttons along with her GAC are all visible (just in case) but no such luck. He says the wait is close to 2 hours. We head toward the end of the line since the kids want to ride the Flight of the Hippogriff in that direction anyway. We spot another lady dressed in Potter attire! We decide to ask about the lines and GKTW/MAW buttons. She said that it should get us front of the line... to go back and talk to the guy at the door again. So DH and Alli go back to the door, and the guy says, "OK come back in an hour". They come back and tell us. The lady says "No way. Come back in 15 minutes or so, I will be working at the door and you will get into the next show" While they were checking with the guy again, I inquired about Alli getting picked for the show. She said she would see what could happen when we came back! :goodvibes

On the way to the Flight of the Hippogriff, the kids are able to watch a bit of the TRIWIZARD SPIRIT RALLY. It was kinda cool.
On the ride... If you look closely you can see Brian and Jonathon in the last cart... and behind the mans head is Alli and Jake!!:rotfl2:

Since we are right there we decide to go to the Castle. We can all go through there, and then the baby and I wait for them to ride Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. Because it was dark, not many of our pictures inside the castle were any good.

To the Dragon Challenge we go. Alli decides at the last minute she doesn't want to go. Jake rode alone (Jonathon wasn't tall enough and Brian couldn't fit in the seat properly)

It's time to take a break. Even though it doesn't seem like we did much....we did. The walking alone did Alli in. Across the bridge we go into Jurassic Park.

There wasn't anything else they wanted to do so we kept walking. We came upon Toon Lagoon... KEPT WALKING.. Remember it's only in the 40's. We made it into the Marvel Super Hero Island. Alli, Jake, Jonathon and Brian went on the Spiderman ride. Christopher and I waited in the shop. I start to hear sirens and look outside. ALL of the hereos are riding around on 4-wheelers. I am hoping they hurry up and get off the ride. They do.... We start to walk to the different locations for pictures. We got stuck in a shop and the door was blocked by 2 female hereos and it scared Jonathon. So we went out the other door. BUT apparently not before a Member of Management saw Allison's pins!! PIXIE DUST!!! :goodvibes She RUNS after us. When she catches up, she asks if we are marvel fans. I said that the kids are yes. She asked if we would like a personal meet and greet with ALL of them!! OF COURSE!!! So they escort us to where they will meet us!!!

They were all so nice. They talked to everyone of us and made us feel like no one else mattered. The interaction with the kids was incredible!!

The kids rode some more rides and back to Potter World we went to get some treats. At some point we took another break in the first aid station. Alli got some much needed rest, and I was able to feed the baby. Then we made the LONG journey back through IOA, CityWalk, and the walkway to the garage. Allison was so exhausted she fell asleep as soon as we got in the van. Once we got back to the Village the Gingerbread House was closed so we ordered from Katie's Kitchen. While we wait for it to be delivered, Jonathon and Alli play with their new wands.

I think Alli and Jonathon ate the frog. I didn't have any desire. She did get me a cauldron cake, but we didn't enjoy that until we made it home.

I have enjoyed your report and am subbing in. My DS11 has been having problems since May and the dr. has all but confirmed that it is Crohn's. Would you mind sharing what treatments you have tried? Feel free to PM me.
Loved the Harry Potter report, DS is a huge fan and we want to go next summer. How exciting for Alli to be picked. What a great Mom you are to make it happen.



:welcome: I will have to look back to see all the treatments. Off the top of my head I remember Pentasa, Prednisone, 6MP, Infliximab, Prevacid, Hydrocortisone, Zyrtec, Claritin..... There have been so many meds that when they change I put the old in the back of my brain.:eek: If you have specific questions, please PM me. I am all about finding people that know what it's like.

:wave2: HI!!! Sorry I haven't added any more days. We have had plenty of sickies :sick:around here. Allison's chronic sinus issues and productive cough are back with a vengence. She is feeling pretty poorly, and has little energy. She stayed home 2 days this week. (after just getting her excessive absences waived from the first semeste:eek:r) I called her GI doctor and he is making some changes to her treatment plan. We are at an impass temporarily. Kind of the chicken and egg situation. Is the Crohn's causing her to not be able to fight the chronic infections, or are the chronic infections causing the flare ups, or is all of making everything worse??

SO, she is now scheduled for sinus surgery since we have been playing with meds for a while and her 2nd CT is no better than the first. The dr actually said he has never seen a 12 year old with such bad sinus disease before. She was to have her treatment that week, but the GI dr wants her to get a week earlier. It's been suggested we see if she can be admitted instead of same day for the surgery since last procedure that was done under anesthesia was much less invasive and she was back that day in the ER with complications. So needless to say, I am a bit worried.

Jonathon (4) woke up with croup like symptoms. He seems to old to me for croup, and he gets it so frequently we took him to the peds. Well, he is too old for croup....and they think it's asthma. So we have a follow up for that next week.

The baby went in for his 9 month check up and we found out he isn't gaining the weight he should be. He started to have feeding problems again while on Alli's wish trip. (he had feeding issues and weight issues at birth and had feeding therapy for over 2 months before) The therapist came back out today and is recommending ongoing therapy as well as a swallow study. He follows up next week to see if he has gained. He has been having a lot of URI as well! :sad2:

Just seems if it's not one thing it's another. Promise to get back on here and get my TR going again!! Thanks for sticking it out with me!

Thank you for thinking of us! It's been a busy few weeks with appointments. We are also preparing the house for Allison after her surgery..... in other words...spring cleaning and ripping up carpetr. Trying to find a good air purifier as well. Jonathon has had a terrible time as well lately with his asthma symptoms. Day 3 Tuesday December 14th CONTINUED!

After lunch we got our things together and headed to the van. We were off to Epcot for the rest of the day.

The kids and Brian did all the attractions they wanted to. It was still bitter cold and Jonathon was over being cold. Allison was tired and we had visited all the first aid stations we could. The lounge was closed by the time we got to epcot, so we weren't able to take advantage of this one.

Thanks I remember seeing them before.. but couldn't remember where. I will head over there later this afternoon. Brian works tonight so I plan to sit back and read through your TR, and catch up some with everyone else. Thanks for sticking with me...even though I bailed. I did pick up that Lisa has had a rough go of it. I am truly very sorry to hear that. We were almost referred to CHOP. I have heard great things, but our dr decided on Boston Children's hospital. DAY 4 Wednesday December 15th MAGIC Kingdom

:goodvibesWe started our day with an early morning character breakfast at OHANA. Everyone had a blast. The food was great, Jake loved the juice. Jonathon LOVED meeting Stitch, Christopher loved all the characters and Allison just loved the waffles!! Christopher and Jonathon enjoyed playing witht he maracas, and Jake took Christopher to participate in the parade. As you will see, Jonathon has some of his usual grumpiness when we meet Mickey. I really don't remember why:confused3...but it was all too common during this trip!:confused:

Day 4 Part 2 Where Magic Happens

We decided to get our picture first thing....hoping Jonathon would be happy. No such luck. He wasn't into getting his picture taken.

Because my camera broke day one, and Allison continued to forget to charge hers, we didn't end up with very many pictures. The kids went immediately to the rides that were top of the list. We saw some shows and visited with characters. Christopher and I hung out together while everyone did the things they wanted. It was great seeing the smiles on the kids faces. Today was especially hard on Alli, after three very busy days... we made sure to the wish lounge. We spent quite a bit of time in there. We were alone, no other families no pixie dust... but Alli rested and Jonathon played with Mr Potato Head and Disney dress ups!

And off we went again!!

More rides and show experiences. We got a bite to eat, a few snacks another rest break. We made our way to toon town. Enjoyed all the houses, again... no pictures. We made our way to see Allison's Favorite...... TINK!!!! We wasted quite a bit of time (JUST FYI). A past wish child was able to get a picture with all the fairies at once, so we asked. We were told to wait and they would see what they could do.... we waited and waited and waited.. Lots of families passing and leaving. In the end they said they couldn't put them to gether because of the seasons. She enjoyed herself anyway! The boys played on Donalds boat.

Off to Goofy's Barnyard Roller Coaster. They all loved it. It was so funny to see Jake and Alli laugh like they did on that little ride. Jonathon raised his arms and giggled!! LOVED seeing them so happy. Fireworks ready to off. Jake and Jonathon ran back and forth from where we sat across from Donald's Boat and Donalds Boat, until they closed it. Then it was Time to hit the Haunted Mansion before we head Jonathon's favorite! We went out of the park and took the boat/ferry back to where the van was parked. If you remember we parked at the Ohana restaraunt. We managed to get lost and the kids were cold and tired. Finally back to the van, after 5 minutes all the kids were asleep!!

I know Jonathan wasn't always "into it" but look at that smile on his face with BUZZ!!!! :woohoo::woohoo: I am so happy you are finishing this and I know you feel you have forgotten some of it, but look at the memories you ARE preserving! Amy, let any guilt go! You know better than most just how hard it is to deal with medical "stuff", a family and life in general. I look forward to seeing how the family is doing and it is like I always say, NOBODY's LOAD is heavier than anyone else's it is just DIFFERENT! I can't believe ANYBODY could't see what you have to do each and every day...unless they have NEVER had to deal with chronic illness, then I could see a lack of knowledge..but that is OKAY! You don't owe anybody anything, except for your family! :grouphug::grouphug: for Allison and an accurate diagnosis! In the meantime, keep writing, planning and dreaming! So some of you have followed since our PTR in 2010. We had a lot of support and great help from the generous DISers!! Love this site! We went on Allison's wish trip, had a blast, came home... got ready for Christmas, got sick... celebrated New Years. Allison got sick AGAIN. Planned for Surgery, got the TR started... Left off in March just before Allison's sinus surgery.. The ENT said her ct scans were the worst 12 year old sinuses he had seen and hadn't improved but got worst in the six months since the last one. She went on 2 months of antibiotics before the surgery.

She recovered nicley!! We prepped the house by pulling ALL the rugs out and get air filters for the main living areas and her room. Put all new bedding for allergies on her bed. She seemed set. Jonathon had been having problems with asthma so the rugs should take care of him too!

In April we went to visit family for Spring Break. It worked out great. Easter, Christophers first birthday, my birthday and my moms were all celebrated! We also through a trip to Hershey Park in from our GKTW passport!!

Allison got very sick mid way through our park visit. We ended up pushing her in the stroller to a video arcade where we waited for first aid with wheelchair and then headed to first aid. She was miserable. We knew when we were headed to MD she s was beginning to have a flare up, but when she had a 103 fever we were shocked!! After giving her tylenol and getting her situated they took us by ambulance to our van. Always an adventure!

My computer is being slow... so we will pick up with May!

Think I forgot to mention.. Christopher began having feeding issues again while on her wish trip, so when we got back he started feeding therapy again in January. He "graduated" in September when they switched him to speech therapy. He has come a long way with his speech and is closer to age appropriate!!

Jonathon had a lot of problems with stridor. They thought he had a problem with his larynx vs. asthma. Luckily it has gotten much better. We were tired of ER visits

Allison went to Victory Junction in July, right after what would be her last IV infusion for IBD.

After camp she was not feeling well, had very little energy and pulled away from friends. We didn't do much except play in the pool and go to dr appointments. The end of August she got worst and ended up in the hospital the beginning of Sept. She was discharged after 2 nights and we drove Daddy straight to the airport to go out of the country. 2 days later she was readmitted for over a week. Luckily my mom was able to come stay with the 3 boys. We have now had 4 failed treatments and are trying to determine if this latest treatment plan is also a failure.

Jonathon broke his foot, and month later knocked two teeth into the wrong position in the front of his mouth. Always something!

I had a virus that caused an almost anaphylactic reaction and I had to go to the ER for Epinepherine. NOT FUN!! The holidays came and went, Allison flaring several times. We got a HUGE surprise for Christmas. A week in DH's parents Florida condo!! Woo HOO!! we get to go back to disney!! Come Check out my new PTR. GOING BACK TO DISNEY AND GKTW! (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=44277669&postcount=1) I promise to finish this TR!!

We are currently waiting to see how Allison does weaning off Prednisone (4th attempt since Sept all failing and causing flares the we go back up on the meds.) if this doesn't work she will be referred to Boston Children's Hospital!!!

Day 5 December 16 Wish upon a star:genie:


Today turned out to be quite a busy and VERY exciting day for more reasons that one!! Early to rise, showers, dressed and off to get some ice cream for breakfast. Next stop the Castle of Miracles. Time for Allison to wish upon a star. Truly a magical moment at Give Kids The World!!

So we left off as we were leaving DHS. Give Kids The World has many different adventures offered to the wish families staying at the village!! We decided to take advantage of one... INDOOR SKY DIVING!! Everyone except Christopher and I participated. But we did go up to the viewing room and watched everything they did. We got pictures and DVD as part of the package! They All had a BLAST!!

Day 6 Back to Universal

Up early again. Although it is getting more and more difficult to get Allison up and moving. By now she is absolutely exhausted. BUT she wants to do it all!! Breakfast is what else??? ICE CREAM. After we got to meet Barney

After we head to meet our friends at Universal. After our first day, our friends let us know that they have valet parking at Universal and you avoid the walk. WHAT A LIFESAVER!!! We valet parked and we avoided a long walk. Granted you are not at the park entrance, but it is much closer. We started to do some things while we waited for our friends to come.

The passport is something you get when you check out. I don't want to ruin the surprise.....so I won't say much else. But it was an awesome Good-bye from them!!!

Yes, we paid $25 for the valet. I know it seems like alot and it's not covered with the button like the rest of the parking... But Allison couldn't walk the distance again. There was no way. When we go back this summer we will use valet again. Totally worth it for us!! You don't have much time left... I would have butterflies, actually I have them for you thinking about it and looking at your ticker!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

OK, I finally made it over to read you TR and I have to say I'm glad I waited to spring of 2012 to do so :lmao:

Seriously, I didn't realize all you've been through with the kids illness wise, so it is perfectly understandable. I did admire the floors in your house though -- I don't think I commented on them while I was over there but with a cat throwing up all over house and dogs having *accidents* I want to hardwood our entire house. DH hates hardwood. On Friday you will see what I did to our DR though while he was deployed.

Anyway, I love your TR and the pics you have of Alli are great -- she's always smiling :) It seems like you were with Christopher too much to have fun for yourself -- I hope in June you get to enjoy some things as well. I know you are like me and are just happy seeing your kids have fun, but you've been through a lot and need a vacation too.

Now I'm off to read your new ptr -- it's too cold today to do yard work -- we should have gotten together today to sew! Or I should be embroidering that shirt for my dd -- you know, the one I've been talking about for days now. Or I should be cleaning, but I always put that on the back burner.

Christopher and I were almost inseparable. Literally... But that's ok. I lost a few months after he was born, and it was our time to reconnect. It was bitter cold most of the week and it kept both of us warm. I wasn't interested in doing much but watch the kids. I have to say, this time I am ready to try out some rides..:scared1: Hope I don't freak out!!

Day 7- The trip is coming to end

This day starts with a list of emotions. Allison got the wish of her lifetime and had a great week!!:goodvibes BUT, it was coming to an end and we would soon be back to reality!:sad1: Brian and I got up early, to finish packing and getting everyone situated. We planned to stay at the Village and explore since we really hadn't the whole time we were there. After breakfast we were planning to have our friends come visit and say good bye. So off to the Gingerbread House we went.

We were good. Our friends showed up and we visited for a little bit. The kids played and talked. Brian and I checked out and our goodbye package was fantastic!! They continue to treat you wonderfully even after you leave!:goodvibes:goodvibes We said our goodbyes and watched our friends leave with a heavy heart. We didn't know how long until we saw them again

No time to have a pity party. We had things to see and ice cream to eat before we needed to head back to the airport.

It was raining a bit so we put on our ponchos and headed to the Amberville Train Station. The train was running, but there was plenty for everyone tody!

And it's time to say good bye. Of to the airport we go. Let me tell you, they are way busier and took us much LONGER to get through security than when we left our little airport! It took a while but we made it on the flight just in time!!
